ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Dylan Larkin requests a trade from the Detroit Red Wings—could the New York Islanders land the consistent 30-goal center to ignite their offense and break out of the NHL’s “muddy middle”? The show analyzes what it might cost for the Islanders to add Larkin, examines roster fits alongside Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal, and weighs a potential one-for-one swap with Barzal. Salary cap complexities and the challenge of changing team culture come to the forefront.
The conversation also spotlights Anders Lee’s contract talks, with fresh insight on negotiations and predicted term and salary hurdles. Listener mailbag questions inspire debate on possible draft day trades involving Barzal, Chicago Blackhawks’ Sam Rinzel, and first-round picks. Plus, a look back at former winger Jeff Toms re-lives a memorable moment in Islanders history. Can a bold move push the Islanders closer to Stanley Cup contention, or is the future too high a price to pay?
