ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Washington Capitals face a franchise-defining trade deadline as Alex Ovechkin’s possible last NHL season hangs in the balance. Will General Manager Chris Patrick push the team forward or prepare for the future? The Capitals’ playoff chances remain alive, but mounting games in hand and recent inconsistency—highlighted by Pierre-Luc Dubois' impactful return—have management weighing every option.
DAN HOLMI breaks down the Capitals’ buyer vs. seller dilemma, examining playoff race standings, high-profile trade targets like Nazem Kadri, Vincent Trocek, Evander Kane, and the likelihood of veteran moves including Trevor van Riemsdyk’s departure. Insights include the organization’s cautious approach to prospects Ryan Leonard, Cole Hutson, and Ivan Miroshnychenko, and what roster decisions mean for the looming post-Ovechkin era. Will Washington add scoring punch to fuel a playoff run, or usher in youth for future dominance? The Friday deadline will reveal the Capitals’ true intentions.
