ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Josh Allen needs James Cook and Khalil Shakir to deliver against the Baltimore Ravens! The Buffalo Bills face a difficult defensive matchup on Sunday, but two offensive X-factors could determine whether Buffalo can control the game and keep Lamar Jackson off the field.
Cook leads the NFL with 22 rushing attempts of at least 10 yards, while Shakir could exploit Baltimore's defensive tendencies against wide receivers.
On Bills HIT, we break down why these two weapons are critical to Buffalo's offensive success.
JAMES COOK: BUFFALO'S BIGGEST OFFENSIVE X-FACTOR
Cook has been outstanding this season, recording 627 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns and an NFL-leading 22 runs of at least 10 yards.
But Baltimore presents a difficult matchup.
The Ravens have allowed fewer than 100 rushing yards per game, with Roquan Smith, Kyle Hamilton and a talented defense capable of limiting opposing running backs.
Buffalo cannot afford to become one-dimensional.
With Spencer Brown questionable because of a back injury, establishing the running game could help prevent Baltimore's pass rush from taking over.
Cook doesn't necessarily need 100 rushing yards, but his ability to create explosive plays, sustain drives and set up manageable third downs could be crucial.
KHALIL SHAKIR: A MATCHUP TO EXPLOIT?
According to Fantasy Points Data, 78% of pass targets against Baltimore have gone to wide receivers, the highest share in the NFL through seven weeks.
That doesn't represent a completion percentage, but it highlights where opposing offenses have chosen to attack.
Shakir could be especially dangerous working underneath, finding openings in coverage and creating yards after the catch.
His chemistry with Josh Allen could become even more important if Baltimore generates pressure.
BUFFALO'S INJURY QUESTIONS
DJ Moore, Dalton Kincaid and Spencer Brown are all questionable heading into Sunday's matchup.
Their availability could influence Buffalo's offensive approach, but Cook and Shakir remain central to the game plan.
Can James Cook overcome Baltimore's run defense?
Will Khalil Shakir take advantage of the Ravens' coverage tendencies?
And can Josh Allen keep Buffalo's offense balanced enough to win?
