00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:05.839
Coffee with Kaylee Marine, let's increase our learning and obtain wise counsel.
00:00:06.160 --> 00:00:09.039
Grab your coffee and let's get started.
00:00:09.599 --> 00:00:11.199
Oh, do you hear that?
00:00:11.439 --> 00:00:12.960
That's wisdom calling.
00:00:13.119 --> 00:00:14.800
Let's answer that call.
00:00:15.199 --> 00:00:21.519
Coffee with Kaylee Marie, where there's a seat at the table for you, waiting.
00:00:21.760 --> 00:00:24.399
And coffee just the way you like it.
00:00:24.719 --> 00:00:26.000
Thanks for joining me.
00:00:26.160 --> 00:00:31.199
Today we're back around the table to have a conversation about Proverbs 4.
00:00:31.440 --> 00:00:34.479
Before we get started, just a little note.
00:00:34.719 --> 00:00:39.520
You may hear my security system keeping a close watch in the background.
00:00:39.840 --> 00:00:46.079
His name is Teddy, and he's a very handsome Labador whom I love dearly.
00:00:46.640 --> 00:00:50.719
So if you happen to hear him, just know he's doing his job.
00:00:51.600 --> 00:00:56.079
It's all a part of gathering around the table together.
00:00:56.399 --> 00:01:00.240
Now, let's dive into our conversation.
00:01:00.560 --> 00:01:06.640
Hello, this is Kaylee Marie, and today we are going to be discussing Proverbs 4.
00:01:06.879 --> 00:01:11.200
Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction.
00:01:11.680 --> 00:01:14.640
Pay attention to gain understanding.
00:01:15.040 --> 00:01:20.640
Today I have my father with me to discuss Proverbs 4.
00:01:20.879 --> 00:01:23.040
He is a jack of all trades.
00:01:24.079 --> 00:01:29.920
And he would say a master of none, but I would say a few.
00:01:30.159 --> 00:01:32.079
So thank you for joining me, Dad.
00:01:32.480 --> 00:01:32.879
Thanks.
00:01:33.040 --> 00:01:37.920
I do try to be a master when I do something, but I don't always succeed.
00:01:39.120 --> 00:01:51.040
Succeeding in everything is probably never an accomplishment because too many times in life we have failures and we need to learn from our failures.
00:01:51.599 --> 00:02:07.920
And sometimes the father's failures that he tries to pass on to his children so they can learn without having to do the same failure is the wisest thing a child can get from his father or his mother.
00:02:08.240 --> 00:02:09.039
Thank you, Dad.
00:02:09.199 --> 00:02:10.240
I appreciate that.
00:02:10.479 --> 00:02:13.840
I'm gonna read some scripture and then we will discuss it.
00:02:14.319 --> 00:02:24.960
And as we talked before the podcast, it says listen, my sons, but you can, for all of you daughters who are listening, you can put daughter in there.
00:02:25.199 --> 00:02:28.000
I am reading from the Tree of Life version.
00:02:28.319 --> 00:02:32.159
Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction.
00:02:32.400 --> 00:02:35.280
Pay attention to gain understanding.
00:02:35.599 --> 00:02:37.919
For I give you sound learning.
00:02:38.159 --> 00:02:40.560
Do not forsake my instruction.
00:02:41.120 --> 00:02:53.039
When I was a son to my father, tender and special to my mother, he taught me and said to me, Lay hold of my words in your heart.
00:02:53.439 --> 00:02:56.719
Keep my commandments, and you will live.
00:02:56.960 --> 00:03:00.000
Get wisdom, get understanding.
00:03:00.560 --> 00:03:05.520
Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
00:03:05.919 --> 00:03:09.520
Do not forsake her, and she will guard you.
00:03:09.919 --> 00:03:13.120
Love her and she will watch over you.
00:03:13.520 --> 00:03:15.199
Wisdom is supreme.
00:03:15.520 --> 00:03:17.199
Acquire wisdom.
00:03:18.080 --> 00:03:25.680
With all your acquisitions, get understanding, prize her, and she will exalt you.
00:03:26.000 --> 00:03:29.199
She will honor you when you embrace her.
00:03:29.439 --> 00:03:32.879
She will set a garland of grace on your head.
00:03:33.360 --> 00:03:36.319
She will give you a crown of glory.
00:03:36.560 --> 00:03:39.759
Proverbs 4 1 through verse 9.
00:03:40.080 --> 00:03:41.360
And your first question.
00:03:55.439 --> 00:04:10.960
Probably what jumps out to me uh in those verses is pretty much what I expect mentioned at the beginning, that a lot of the wisdom of the father comes from his years of experience.
00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:41.120
In these verses, he is asking his son and his daughter, or andor his daughter, to also listen closely to what his instructions are, that they don't have to go through, as I mentioned earlier, the same failures of life that we encounter, that he has encountered, and he's trying to pass the wisdom gained from those failures to the children, the son, the daughter.
00:04:41.360 --> 00:04:50.160
Sometimes learning is from someone else is harder than learning from your own failure and mistakes.
00:04:50.639 --> 00:04:57.920
And so it's you don't always want to listen to what other people tell you is to do or not to do.
00:04:58.319 --> 00:05:14.240
Children have a habit of when you tell them don't do this, they think for a moment and then they wait until they have the opportunity to try to do what they were told not to do rather than to listen to the don't do that.
00:05:14.480 --> 00:05:25.519
There are some things that are easier to learn for instance a mother telling a daughter in the kitchen, don't put your hand on a hot stove.
00:05:29.920 --> 00:05:47.759
But there's many other things that in life that the parents try to say and pass on the wisdom of by not doing those things, and the children end up going, eh, I think I go do that anyway.
00:05:48.000 --> 00:05:58.399
One good example is how many times did Moses and the prophets tell Israel, put away idolatry and worship the Lord God.
00:05:58.639 --> 00:05:59.519
He is one.
00:06:00.399 --> 00:06:06.399
And they would do that for a short time, and then they go, Oh, I'm gonna try this God over here.
00:06:07.360 --> 00:06:17.600
And that failure to listen to instruction caused great pain and agony and destruction in most cases.
00:06:18.000 --> 00:06:25.839
It talks about wisdom is supreme, acquire wisdom with all your acquisitions, get understanding.
00:06:26.319 --> 00:06:32.720
So, how have you, with all of your acquisitions, obtained understanding?
00:06:33.040 --> 00:06:46.000
Okay, when I read Proverbs and it talks about wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, sometimes you have to stop and I stop and think about those, the order that the verses sometimes quote those things in.
00:06:46.240 --> 00:06:55.519
The knowledge is something that we all have to gain through studying scripture or whatever subject we're working with in our life.
00:06:56.160 --> 00:07:25.600
But understanding has to, understanding that knowledge has to be acquired, and then we have to apply the wisdom of that understanding, of that knowledge, so that when we do something, we accomplish it at the right time within the right context that we excuse me, applies that wisdom and knowledge, that knowledge and that understanding.
00:07:26.000 --> 00:07:55.519
She will set a garland of grace on your head, she will give you a crown of glory, and I that automatically puts me back to Proverbs chapter one, where it says, Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and forsake not your mother's teaching, for they are a garland of grace for your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
00:07:56.480 --> 00:08:06.480
Another reading of that verse nine describes it rather as a than a garland as an ornament and in the crown of glory.
00:08:07.360 --> 00:08:33.039
I think a child's obedience of parents and listening to the wisdom that parents try to impart to their children is what those actions that the child takes, honoring the parent by obeying the parent, is what provides that garland of grace and that crown of glory.
00:08:33.519 --> 00:08:48.960
And that crown of glory and garland of grace is given to the parents through the honoring and obedience of the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom that the parents try to impart to the children.
00:08:49.360 --> 00:08:59.600
I like the word that uh you use there, try, because you are trying, and the child does have to make a decision of accepting it.
00:08:59.759 --> 00:09:06.240
And they may have, even as adults, have a hard time listening to their parents.
00:09:06.399 --> 00:09:24.559
Hopefully, some of us have grown wiser and understand that our parents have more wisdom than we do in giving instruction and helping out with certain situations, whether it be with something that's going on with work or it just in general in life.
00:09:25.039 --> 00:09:48.480
Yes, I think that there is nobody on earth that is perfect except Yeshua, who walked on earth 2,000 years ago, and we sometimes fail to recognize imperfections that are in impair that are in everybody's personality and character.
00:09:48.799 --> 00:09:59.360
And it takes time and wisdom of applying knowledge and understanding to correct many things that are come up wrong.
00:09:59.600 --> 00:10:01.279
And nobody's perfect.
00:10:01.600 --> 00:10:12.320
So that's why I use the word parents that try, because not every parent is a perfect parent, and every single action that they take with their children.
00:10:12.639 --> 00:10:14.240
And that's unfortunate.
00:10:14.480 --> 00:10:34.159
We don't we like to think we did everything we could, but we did everything, we tried to do everything that we understood to impart good wisdom to our children to help them through every situation in their life as they mature and grow.
00:10:34.559 --> 00:10:43.600
You do the best that you can, but I'm coming as the the kid hear the daughter saying that you have a choice.
00:10:43.759 --> 00:10:51.679
I mean, your parents are doing the absolutely best that they know with what they've been given, and you have a choice to make.
00:10:52.559 --> 00:11:22.879
Yeah, the the option of of choices is not only with the children to obey or not to obey or to try something different than what is given as instruction, but it's the choices for the parents of how it is wisdom is given and an instruction is given to help the child gain the understanding and the wisdom of how to use that knowledge and understanding.
00:11:23.120 --> 00:11:40.480
So there there is choices on both ends, both sides, and there will always be choices between two people interacting with each other, and how we the choices we make in our interaction with everybody.
00:11:40.720 --> 00:11:53.600
And in this case, this whole chapter talks about, I think, the interaction between children and parents is what will build our character for our life as we grow older.
00:11:54.000 --> 00:12:04.559
Yes, and because it also talks about in that scripture to lay hold of my words in your heart and keep my commands and you will live.
00:12:04.720 --> 00:12:08.159
And of course, it's talking about the Torah here, if I'm correct.
00:12:08.480 --> 00:12:09.120
I agree.
00:12:09.440 --> 00:12:14.000
He's written the Torah's been written so that we can live.
00:12:14.480 --> 00:12:17.120
Keep my commandments and you will live.
00:12:17.759 --> 00:12:27.919
All of the commandments, the ones that we are able to keep, because not all of them are applicable at this time, like giving sacrifices, for instance.
00:12:28.240 --> 00:12:29.600
I'm not a Levite.
00:12:29.919 --> 00:12:30.559
Right.
00:12:30.960 --> 00:12:33.919
And so, but they will help you live.
00:12:34.159 --> 00:12:37.039
Proverbs 4, verse 10.
00:12:38.080 --> 00:12:44.960
Listen, my son, and accept my words, so the years of your life will be many.
00:12:45.360 --> 00:12:51.759
I instructed you in the way of wisdom, I have guided you along straight paths.
00:12:52.159 --> 00:12:58.960
When you walk, your step will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble.
00:12:59.279 --> 00:13:03.279
Hold on tightly to instruction.
00:13:03.759 --> 00:13:05.360
Do not let it go.
00:13:06.000 --> 00:13:09.360
Guard it, for it is your life.
00:13:10.320 --> 00:13:14.960
Do not enter the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil people.
00:13:15.360 --> 00:13:18.559
Avoid it, do not travel on it.
00:13:19.039 --> 00:13:25.600
Turn away from it and pass by, for they cannot sleep until they do evil.
00:13:25.919 --> 00:13:30.399
They are robbed of sleep until they make someone fall.
00:13:31.120 --> 00:13:36.320
For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
00:13:36.639 --> 00:13:45.840
The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until the full day.
00:13:46.159 --> 00:13:49.279
The way of the wicked is like darkness.
00:13:49.600 --> 00:13:54.320
They do not know what makes them some stumble.
00:13:55.120 --> 00:14:01.679
My son, pay attention to my words, incline your ear to my sayings.
00:14:02.240 --> 00:14:06.720
Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart.
00:14:07.120 --> 00:14:13.840
Let's go on those verses because there is a slight break in what it's talking about there.
00:14:14.320 --> 00:14:24.720
And when we we talked about the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of parents that is acquired through years of life.
00:14:24.879 --> 00:14:38.000
And now it's describing what can become of a child's life when those words are applied, that instruction is applied or not implied, the wisdom of the years of the parent.
00:14:38.240 --> 00:14:47.919
And again, always understand what I that I recognize that never are there any perfect parents or perfect children.
00:14:48.159 --> 00:15:03.919
And when you recognize that and use that as the lens that you evaluate instructions of parents and actions of children, you're going to get a more accurate understanding of what has been relayed back and forth.
00:15:04.399 --> 00:15:22.000
And this portion talks about when you do the when a child does and uses the knowledge and understanding wisely, these are the things that can happen or not happen depending about their choices that we mentioned earlier.
00:15:22.639 --> 00:15:30.559
To make the correct choice, you can have the negative things come up in your life and have a negative side of life.
00:15:31.600 --> 00:15:44.559
You can have recognize what causes you to stumble in life, and then you can begin to improve and start to have a better life in everything you do.
00:15:44.720 --> 00:15:57.360
And the if you guard your heart diligently, the sp flow that comes from it will be like springs of life, is what the verse in 23 says.
00:15:58.559 --> 00:16:05.600
And it's that springs of life that you want to gain from the instruction of your parents.
00:16:05.919 --> 00:16:21.200
And so the choices you make, you're either gonna follow the wrong one and be in darkness, or follow the right ones and be in a light, bright light of dawn in a brighter full day.
00:16:22.000 --> 00:16:27.279
You either know what's makes you stumble, or you fail to see what makes you stumble.
00:16:27.519 --> 00:16:37.200
It's appearing to me this whole chapter is trying to show the results of the commandment to obey your parents in the Lord.
00:16:37.519 --> 00:16:41.519
And that even that first commandment says that your days may be long.
00:16:42.159 --> 00:16:50.879
And this particular chapter seems to be showing that doing that is gonna make your days and your life long.
00:16:52.000 --> 00:16:58.879
Or it's gonna be make your life miserable, which you don't want, right?
00:16:59.919 --> 00:17:00.559
Right.
00:17:01.360 --> 00:17:06.880
Well, I know you mentioned verse 23, and we left off at 20.
00:17:07.200 --> 00:17:13.759
But let's pick up from there because it does give the benefits might be the correct word.
00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:15.359
How about results?
00:17:15.599 --> 00:17:17.279
The results positive results.
00:17:17.519 --> 00:17:18.640
Positive results.
00:17:18.960 --> 00:17:21.039
So verse 21.
00:17:21.599 --> 00:17:32.319
Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart, for they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.
00:17:32.559 --> 00:17:39.680
Guard your heart diligently, for from it flow the spring of springs of life.
00:17:40.000 --> 00:17:45.519
Put away perversity from your mouth, and keep devious lips far from you.
00:17:46.079 --> 00:17:52.880
Let your eyes look directly ahead and fix your gaze straight in front of you.
00:17:53.200 --> 00:17:58.880
Clear a level path for your feet, so all your ways will be firm.
00:17:59.200 --> 00:18:02.240
Do not turn to the right or to the left.
00:18:02.559 --> 00:18:04.720
Divert your foot from evil.
00:18:17.519 --> 00:18:26.079
That's exactly what it's describing in my mind walking that straight and narrow path that will be straight in front of you.
00:18:26.319 --> 00:18:36.880
It will be firm, and you don't need to be turning to the right or the left off of that path so that you don't divert your life to evil and wickedness.
00:18:37.200 --> 00:18:38.000
That is good.
00:18:38.240 --> 00:18:45.200
When it talks about, for they are life to those who find them in health to their whole body.
00:18:45.519 --> 00:18:50.480
A lot of scripture talks about cleanliness, and it's important to clean.
00:18:50.799 --> 00:18:59.359
I know my mom has taught me to clean, and the importance of it, it definitely helps with your health to clean.
00:18:59.680 --> 00:19:04.799
Yeah, but children that eat dirt build their immune system, don't they?
00:19:05.119 --> 00:19:05.680
I don't know.
00:19:05.759 --> 00:19:10.319
I'm not a doctor, but it is important to maintain cleanliness.
00:19:10.640 --> 00:19:12.559
Um, and the Torah talks about that.
00:19:12.960 --> 00:19:30.640
I don't know what more words one could add to what this chapter talks about and describes obedience to your parents, honoring your parents, the positive and negative effects that can come as a result of obeying that commandment in Torah.
00:19:31.039 --> 00:19:36.160
Thank you, Dad, for joining me for this conversation on Proverbs chapter four.
00:19:36.559 --> 00:19:51.759
I know this was a short conversation on that chapter, but sometimes a conversation need doesn't need to be long to be beneficial, and it doesn't need to be long to be instruction.
00:19:52.319 --> 00:19:53.200
Very true.
00:19:53.440 --> 00:19:58.720
Well, I'll end with asking you this how do you like your coffee, Dad?
00:19:59.440 --> 00:20:02.559
Thanks for listening to Coffee with Kaylee Marie.
00:20:03.119 --> 00:20:07.359
Join me on Facebook and let's keep the conversation going.
00:20:08.000 --> 00:20:10.319
Until next time, shalom.
00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:05.839
Coffee with Kaylee Marine, let's increase our learning and obtain wise counsel.
00:00:06.160 --> 00:00:09.039
Grab your coffee and let's get started.
00:00:09.599 --> 00:00:11.199
Oh, do you hear that?
00:00:11.439 --> 00:00:12.960
That's wisdom calling.
00:00:13.119 --> 00:00:14.800
Let's answer that call.
00:00:15.199 --> 00:00:21.519
Coffee with Kaylee Marie, where there's a seat at the table for you, waiting.
00:00:21.760 --> 00:00:24.399
And coffee just the way you like it.
00:00:24.719 --> 00:00:26.000
Thanks for joining me.
00:00:26.160 --> 00:00:31.199
Today we're back around the table to have a conversation about Proverbs 4.
00:00:31.440 --> 00:00:34.479
Before we get started, just a little note.
00:00:34.719 --> 00:00:39.520
You may hear my security system keeping a close watch in the background.
00:00:39.840 --> 00:00:46.079
His name is Teddy, and he's a very handsome Labador whom I love dearly.
00:00:46.640 --> 00:00:50.719
So if you happen to hear him, just know he's doing his job.
00:00:51.600 --> 00:00:56.079
It's all a part of gathering around the table together.
00:00:56.399 --> 00:01:00.240
Now, let's dive into our conversation.
00:01:00.560 --> 00:01:06.640
Hello, this is Kaylee Marie, and today we are going to be discussing Proverbs 4.
00:01:06.879 --> 00:01:11.200
Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction.
00:01:11.680 --> 00:01:14.640
Pay attention to gain understanding.
00:01:15.040 --> 00:01:20.640
Today I have my father with me to discuss Proverbs 4.
00:01:20.879 --> 00:01:23.040
He is a jack of all trades.
00:01:24.079 --> 00:01:29.920
And he would say a master of none, but I would say a few.
00:01:30.159 --> 00:01:32.079
So thank you for joining me, Dad.
00:01:32.480 --> 00:01:32.879
Thanks.
00:01:33.040 --> 00:01:37.920
I do try to be a master when I do something, but I don't always succeed.
00:01:39.120 --> 00:01:51.040
Succeeding in everything is probably never an accomplishment because too many times in life we have failures and we need to learn from our failures.
00:01:51.599 --> 00:02:07.920
And sometimes the father's failures that he tries to pass on to his children so they can learn without having to do the same failure is the wisest thing a child can get from his father or his mother.
00:02:08.240 --> 00:02:09.039
Thank you, Dad.
00:02:09.199 --> 00:02:10.240
I appreciate that.
00:02:10.479 --> 00:02:13.840
I'm gonna read some scripture and then we will discuss it.
00:02:14.319 --> 00:02:24.960
And as we talked before the podcast, it says listen, my sons, but you can, for all of you daughters who are listening, you can put daughter in there.
00:02:25.199 --> 00:02:28.000
I am reading from the Tree of Life version.
00:02:28.319 --> 00:02:32.159
Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction.
00:02:32.400 --> 00:02:35.280
Pay attention to gain understanding.
00:02:35.599 --> 00:02:37.919
For I give you sound learning.
00:02:38.159 --> 00:02:40.560
Do not forsake my instruction.
00:02:41.120 --> 00:02:53.039
When I was a son to my father, tender and special to my mother, he taught me and said to me, Lay hold of my words in your heart.
00:02:53.439 --> 00:02:56.719
Keep my commandments, and you will live.
00:02:56.960 --> 00:03:00.000
Get wisdom, get understanding.
00:03:00.560 --> 00:03:05.520
Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
00:03:05.919 --> 00:03:09.520
Do not forsake her, and she will guard you.
00:03:09.919 --> 00:03:13.120
Love her and she will watch over you.
00:03:13.520 --> 00:03:15.199
Wisdom is supreme.
00:03:15.520 --> 00:03:17.199
Acquire wisdom.
00:03:18.080 --> 00:03:25.680
With all your acquisitions, get understanding, prize her, and she will exalt you.
00:03:26.000 --> 00:03:29.199
She will honor you when you embrace her.
00:03:29.439 --> 00:03:32.879
She will set a garland of grace on your head.
00:03:33.360 --> 00:03:36.319
She will give you a crown of glory.
00:03:36.560 --> 00:03:39.759
Proverbs 4 1 through verse 9.
00:03:40.080 --> 00:03:41.360
And your first question.
00:03:55.439 --> 00:04:10.960
Probably what jumps out to me uh in those verses is pretty much what I expect mentioned at the beginning, that a lot of the wisdom of the father comes from his years of experience.
00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:41.120
00:04:41.360 --> 00:04:50.160
Sometimes learning is from someone else is harder than learning from your own failure and mistakes.
00:04:50.639 --> 00:04:57.920
And so it's you don't always want to listen to what other people tell you is to do or not to do.
00:04:58.319 --> 00:05:14.240
Children have a habit of when you tell them don't do this, they think for a moment and then they wait until they have the opportunity to try to do what they were told not to do rather than to listen to the don't do that.
00:05:14.480 --> 00:05:25.519
There are some things that are easier to learn for instance a mother telling a daughter in the kitchen, don't put your hand on a hot stove.
00:05:29.920 --> 00:05:47.759
But there's many other things that in life that the parents try to say and pass on the wisdom of by not doing those things, and the children end up going, eh, I think I go do that anyway.
00:05:48.000 --> 00:05:58.399
One good example is how many times did Moses and the prophets tell Israel, put away idolatry and worship the Lord God.
00:05:58.639 --> 00:05:59.519
He is one.
00:06:00.399 --> 00:06:06.399
And they would do that for a short time, and then they go, Oh, I'm gonna try this God over here.
00:06:07.360 --> 00:06:17.600
And that failure to listen to instruction caused great pain and agony and destruction in most cases.
00:06:18.000 --> 00:06:25.839
It talks about wisdom is supreme, acquire wisdom with all your acquisitions, get understanding.
00:06:26.319 --> 00:06:32.720
So, how have you, with all of your acquisitions, obtained understanding?
00:06:33.040 --> 00:06:46.000
Okay, when I read Proverbs and it talks about wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, sometimes you have to stop and I stop and think about those, the order that the verses sometimes quote those things in.
00:06:46.240 --> 00:06:55.519
The knowledge is something that we all have to gain through studying scripture or whatever subject we're working with in our life.
00:06:56.160 --> 00:07:25.600
But understanding has to, understanding that knowledge has to be acquired, and then we have to apply the wisdom of that understanding, of that knowledge, so that when we do something, we accomplish it at the right time within the right context that we excuse me, applies that wisdom and knowledge, that knowledge and that understanding.
00:07:26.000 --> 00:07:55.519
00:07:56.480 --> 00:08:06.480
Another reading of that verse nine describes it rather as a than a garland as an ornament and in the crown of glory.
00:08:07.360 --> 00:08:33.039
I think a child's obedience of parents and listening to the wisdom that parents try to impart to their children is what those actions that the child takes, honoring the parent by obeying the parent, is what provides that garland of grace and that crown of glory.
00:08:33.519 --> 00:08:48.960
And that crown of glory and garland of grace is given to the parents through the honoring and obedience of the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom that the parents try to impart to the children.
00:08:49.360 --> 00:08:59.600
I like the word that uh you use there, try, because you are trying, and the child does have to make a decision of accepting it.
00:08:59.759 --> 00:09:06.240
And they may have, even as adults, have a hard time listening to their parents.
00:09:06.399 --> 00:09:24.559
Hopefully, some of us have grown wiser and understand that our parents have more wisdom than we do in giving instruction and helping out with certain situations, whether it be with something that's going on with work or it just in general in life.
00:09:25.039 --> 00:09:48.480
Yes, I think that there is nobody on earth that is perfect except Yeshua, who walked on earth 2,000 years ago, and we sometimes fail to recognize imperfections that are in impair that are in everybody's personality and character.
00:09:48.799 --> 00:09:59.360
And it takes time and wisdom of applying knowledge and understanding to correct many things that are come up wrong.
00:09:59.600 --> 00:10:01.279
And nobody's perfect.
00:10:01.600 --> 00:10:12.320
So that's why I use the word parents that try, because not every parent is a perfect parent, and every single action that they take with their children.
00:10:12.639 --> 00:10:14.240
And that's unfortunate.
00:10:14.480 --> 00:10:34.159
We don't we like to think we did everything we could, but we did everything, we tried to do everything that we understood to impart good wisdom to our children to help them through every situation in their life as they mature and grow.
00:10:34.559 --> 00:10:43.600
You do the best that you can, but I'm coming as the the kid hear the daughter saying that you have a choice.
00:10:43.759 --> 00:10:51.679
I mean, your parents are doing the absolutely best that they know with what they've been given, and you have a choice to make.
00:10:52.559 --> 00:11:22.879
Yeah, the the option of of choices is not only with the children to obey or not to obey or to try something different than what is given as instruction, but it's the choices for the parents of how it is wisdom is given and an instruction is given to help the child gain the understanding and the wisdom of how to use that knowledge and understanding.
00:11:23.120 --> 00:11:40.480
So there there is choices on both ends, both sides, and there will always be choices between two people interacting with each other, and how we the choices we make in our interaction with everybody.
00:11:40.720 --> 00:11:53.600
And in this case, this whole chapter talks about, I think, the interaction between children and parents is what will build our character for our life as we grow older.
00:11:54.000 --> 00:12:04.559
Yes, and because it also talks about in that scripture to lay hold of my words in your heart and keep my commands and you will live.
00:12:04.720 --> 00:12:08.159
And of course, it's talking about the Torah here, if I'm correct.
00:12:08.480 --> 00:12:09.120
I agree.
00:12:09.440 --> 00:12:14.000
He's written the Torah's been written so that we can live.
00:12:14.480 --> 00:12:17.120
Keep my commandments and you will live.
00:12:17.759 --> 00:12:27.919
All of the commandments, the ones that we are able to keep, because not all of them are applicable at this time, like giving sacrifices, for instance.
00:12:28.240 --> 00:12:29.600
I'm not a Levite.
00:12:29.919 --> 00:12:30.559
Right.
00:12:30.960 --> 00:12:33.919
And so, but they will help you live.
00:12:34.159 --> 00:12:37.039
Proverbs 4, verse 10.
00:12:38.080 --> 00:12:44.960
Listen, my son, and accept my words, so the years of your life will be many.
00:12:45.360 --> 00:12:51.759
I instructed you in the way of wisdom, I have guided you along straight paths.
00:12:52.159 --> 00:12:58.960
When you walk, your step will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble.
00:12:59.279 --> 00:13:03.279
Hold on tightly to instruction.
00:13:03.759 --> 00:13:05.360
Do not let it go.
00:13:06.000 --> 00:13:09.360
Guard it, for it is your life.
00:13:10.320 --> 00:13:14.960
Do not enter the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil people.
00:13:15.360 --> 00:13:18.559
Avoid it, do not travel on it.
00:13:19.039 --> 00:13:25.600
Turn away from it and pass by, for they cannot sleep until they do evil.
00:13:25.919 --> 00:13:30.399
They are robbed of sleep until they make someone fall.
00:13:31.120 --> 00:13:36.320
For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
00:13:36.639 --> 00:13:45.840
The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until the full day.
00:13:46.159 --> 00:13:49.279
The way of the wicked is like darkness.
00:13:49.600 --> 00:13:54.320
They do not know what makes them some stumble.
00:13:55.120 --> 00:14:01.679
My son, pay attention to my words, incline your ear to my sayings.
00:14:02.240 --> 00:14:06.720
Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart.
00:14:07.120 --> 00:14:13.840
Let's go on those verses because there is a slight break in what it's talking about there.
00:14:14.320 --> 00:14:24.720
And when we we talked about the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of parents that is acquired through years of life.
00:14:24.879 --> 00:14:38.000
And now it's describing what can become of a child's life when those words are applied, that instruction is applied or not implied, the wisdom of the years of the parent.
00:14:38.240 --> 00:14:47.919
And again, always understand what I that I recognize that never are there any perfect parents or perfect children.
00:14:48.159 --> 00:15:03.919
And when you recognize that and use that as the lens that you evaluate instructions of parents and actions of children, you're going to get a more accurate understanding of what has been relayed back and forth.
00:15:04.399 --> 00:15:22.000
And this portion talks about when you do the when a child does and uses the knowledge and understanding wisely, these are the things that can happen or not happen depending about their choices that we mentioned earlier.
00:15:22.639 --> 00:15:30.559
To make the correct choice, you can have the negative things come up in your life and have a negative side of life.
00:15:31.600 --> 00:15:44.559
You can have recognize what causes you to stumble in life, and then you can begin to improve and start to have a better life in everything you do.
00:15:44.720 --> 00:15:57.360
And the if you guard your heart diligently, the sp flow that comes from it will be like springs of life, is what the verse in 23 says.
00:15:58.559 --> 00:16:05.600
And it's that springs of life that you want to gain from the instruction of your parents.
00:16:05.919 --> 00:16:21.200
And so the choices you make, you're either gonna follow the wrong one and be in darkness, or follow the right ones and be in a light, bright light of dawn in a brighter full day.
00:16:22.000 --> 00:16:27.279
You either know what's makes you stumble, or you fail to see what makes you stumble.
00:16:27.519 --> 00:16:37.200
It's appearing to me this whole chapter is trying to show the results of the commandment to obey your parents in the Lord.
00:16:37.519 --> 00:16:41.519
And that even that first commandment says that your days may be long.
00:16:42.159 --> 00:16:50.879
And this particular chapter seems to be showing that doing that is gonna make your days and your life long.
00:16:52.000 --> 00:16:58.879
Or it's gonna be make your life miserable, which you don't want, right?
00:16:59.919 --> 00:17:00.559
Right.
00:17:01.360 --> 00:17:06.880
Well, I know you mentioned verse 23, and we left off at 20.
00:17:07.200 --> 00:17:13.759
But let's pick up from there because it does give the benefits might be the correct word.
00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:15.359
How about results?
00:17:15.599 --> 00:17:17.279
The results positive results.
00:17:17.519 --> 00:17:18.640
Positive results.
00:17:18.960 --> 00:17:21.039
So verse 21.
00:17:21.599 --> 00:17:32.319
Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart, for they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.
00:17:32.559 --> 00:17:39.680
Guard your heart diligently, for from it flow the spring of springs of life.
00:17:40.000 --> 00:17:45.519
Put away perversity from your mouth, and keep devious lips far from you.
00:17:46.079 --> 00:17:52.880
Let your eyes look directly ahead and fix your gaze straight in front of you.
00:17:53.200 --> 00:17:58.880
Clear a level path for your feet, so all your ways will be firm.
00:17:59.200 --> 00:18:02.240
Do not turn to the right or to the left.
00:18:02.559 --> 00:18:04.720
Divert your foot from evil.
00:18:17.519 --> 00:18:26.079
That's exactly what it's describing in my mind walking that straight and narrow path that will be straight in front of you.
00:18:26.319 --> 00:18:36.880
It will be firm, and you don't need to be turning to the right or the left off of that path so that you don't divert your life to evil and wickedness.
00:18:37.200 --> 00:18:38.000
That is good.
00:18:38.240 --> 00:18:45.200
When it talks about, for they are life to those who find them in health to their whole body.
00:18:45.519 --> 00:18:50.480
A lot of scripture talks about cleanliness, and it's important to clean.
00:18:50.799 --> 00:18:59.359
I know my mom has taught me to clean, and the importance of it, it definitely helps with your health to clean.
00:18:59.680 --> 00:19:04.799
Yeah, but children that eat dirt build their immune system, don't they?
00:19:05.119 --> 00:19:05.680
I don't know.
00:19:05.759 --> 00:19:10.319
I'm not a doctor, but it is important to maintain cleanliness.
00:19:10.640 --> 00:19:12.559
Um, and the Torah talks about that.
00:19:12.960 --> 00:19:30.640
I don't know what more words one could add to what this chapter talks about and describes obedience to your parents, honoring your parents, the positive and negative effects that can come as a result of obeying that commandment in Torah.
00:19:31.039 --> 00:19:36.160
Thank you, Dad, for joining me for this conversation on Proverbs chapter four.
00:19:36.559 --> 00:19:51.759
I know this was a short conversation on that chapter, but sometimes a conversation need doesn't need to be long to be beneficial, and it doesn't need to be long to be instruction.
00:19:52.319 --> 00:19:53.200
Very true.
00:19:53.440 --> 00:19:58.720
Well, I'll end with asking you this how do you like your coffee, Dad?
00:19:59.440 --> 00:20:02.559
Thanks for listening to Coffee with Kaylee Marie.
00:20:03.119 --> 00:20:07.359
Join me on Facebook and let's keep the conversation going.
00:20:08.000 --> 00:20:10.319
Until next time, shalom.
