ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Today on Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, Kinsey is joined by Jonathan Goldberg KC, one of the UK’s most respected criminal defense lawyers.
With a career that includes defending more than one hundred murder cases and representing numerous high-profile clients, Goldberg brings rare legal insight to Prince Harry’s ongoing High Court battle against Associated Newspapers.
Goldberg is also the co-host of the true crime podcast “I Rest My Case,” alongside Dean Strang of Making a Murderer fame.
Together, they break down a tense and revealing day in court, where Harry’s testimony appeared to undercut the narrative he and Meghan Markle previously advanced in their Netflix series.
The discussion covers arguments from ANL’s defense that journalists relied on legitimate sourcing, accusations from Harry’s legal team of an attempted ambush, and repeated judicial interventions as Harry struggled to stay focused on answering questions rather than debating counsel.
The episode also examines the contradictions in Harry’s testimony, from his claims about the royal family’s “never complain, never explain” culture to his assertions that media coverage drove him toward drugs and alcohol, despite his own candid accounts of substance use in “Spare.”
Kinsey and Goldberg explore whether Harry’s arguments about privacy, public interest, and press intrusion hold up given his status in the line of succession, as well as the emotional weight of his statements about Meghan Markle in a case centered on events that predate her.
Plus, what to expect as the case heads toward a written judgment later this spring.
