ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Guest: Neil Sahota, UN AI Advisor
Your AI tools changed. Your incentives didn’t. If people are still rewarded for how many tasks they finish, what happens when AI helps them finish even more?
Neil Sahota joins Maureen Metcalf to explore what leaders need to change after adopting AI in the workplace. He shares how the ways AI helps people perform isn’t always obvious, like the bankers who boosted mortgage closings by focusing on just 30% of their leads instead of the whole batch – and the venture capital firm that used AI to move due diligence earlier in its process, changing which opportunities it pursued (yielding better returns). He also offers four questions to ask about any workflow: What can we eliminate? What can we automate? Where can AI help people do the work? And where should we invest in helping people do it better?
The conversation closes with a question for leaders developing their next generation of talent: When AI takes over routine entry-level tasks, where will people get the practice they need to build judgment?
Find out how to get AI right, and helping your humans in the process.
