Speaker 1: He is KV53, host of the awesome Bullseye View. Easy to find and very consistent.
00:00:08
Speaker 2: What do you post each day, Keith, or each week?
00:00:12
Speaker 3: I post on Tuesday.
00:00:15
Speaker 4: I do, you know, just topics of the week, recap games, college, what's going on with Nas Cook, young guy out of Princeton, real bright guy. And then on Thursday– On Thursday, I usually post a conversation that I've had with someone.
00:00:32
Speaker 3: In the community and or a teammate and or a former player. And then I've been doing these little history.
00:00:38
Speaker 4: Lessons on Fridays, you know, little Titans history lessons.
00:00:43
Speaker 3: But I think I'm going to stop doing.
00:00:44
Speaker 4: That at 0 and 5 because it's a little.
00:00:48
Speaker 3: Remember the Titans.
00:00:50

00:02:05
Speaker 3: I always like Spain. Spain is cool, and I like Portugal.
00:02:12
Speaker 2: Deep ridiculous, or kind of.
00:02:15
Speaker 1: Rose up there. He'll be back in a second. He does. They do an annual trip, I believe, each August, he and his daughters. And they go all over the place. And if it's not like L.A. or something, he's across the world.
00:02:33
Speaker 2: KB is.
00:02:36
Speaker 1: So we've got, yeah, Withrow's coming up in just a moment. And if KB comes back, we'll hop on with him. I want to get to what surprises me Oh, there he is.
00:02:48
Speaker 2: Or he's trying to.
00:02:51
Speaker 1: What surprises me about the state of the Tennessee Titans is the lack of.
00:02:58
Speaker 2: Care about winning.
00:03:00
Speaker 1: They say this, but Amy's really statements in the past about really poor records and said that the Vrabel records weren't good either. Said that John Robbins' records weren't good. And now we don't hear from them at all.
00:03:14
Speaker 2: KB's back. You said Portugal?
00:03:16
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:03:17
Speaker 3: I like Portugal. I like Spain, Barcelona, Marbella.
00:03:22
Speaker 4: Like I like places like water, you know, where you like, you know, beaches and stuff like that.
00:03:27
Speaker 3: Cause it gives a lot of variety.
00:03:30
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Where have you not been that you're going to check out next?
00:03:33
Speaker 3: Japan for sure. I got to get my kids to Japan. I got to get my kids to Japan.
00:03:39
Speaker 1: You walking around Japan will be, I mean, that would be awesome, man.
00:03:42
Speaker 2: Um, Favorite teammate?
00:03:49
Speaker 3: Oh, man. You're going to make me choose one?
00:03:51
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:03:53
Speaker 4: If I had to choose one, one teammate. If I had to choose one teammate, I would choose Lance Schulters because.
00:04:03
Speaker 3: he's, he's so funny.
00:04:05
Speaker 4: And, um, you know, being from New York, I'm not from a borough, but I'm five borough thorough.
00:04:11
Speaker 3: Like I grew up, grew up 30 minutes, 20, 30 minutes outside of Harlem, Manhattan, all that stuff. I'm a New York kid, but I don't claim the city.
00:04:19
Speaker 4: That being said, um, I understand Lance Schultz's being from Brooklyn and never meeting or playing with someone really from New York. He really personified what Brooklyn, that Brooklyn attitude and to have it on the football field and to bring it to our team at the time it was needed. You know, in 2002, he came to us as a free agent. And I talk about identity. You know, he helped us forge a new identity. You know, that's when the Tennessee Tyrants came around. You know what I mean? Like we weren't getting a lot of respect. because we weren't winning. So in Tennessee, you got to take your respect. You know, you think about those teams with Kevin Byard, Derrick Henry, you know, those teams weren't good at first, but they had to like kick some ass and, you know, take some respect around here.
00:05:06
Speaker 3: And that's what you got to do.
00:05:08
Speaker 4: And I just feel like the team we have now has no interest in that, you know, it's one-on-one and they're still learning. how to ball in the NFL, to be fair, as their coach says. But, you know, that's what it was all about. We got to take it. No one's going to give it to you.
00:05:22
Speaker 1: Man, like, those teams, they were able to prove it on Sundays. Like, on the field, they went out and proved it. This team, they just try to talk things into existence. Like, they just, all these slogans and, you know, this is our floor and all. I just, I'm thinking, like, says who?
00:05:41
Speaker 2: Like.
00:05:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right.
00:05:44
Speaker 4: Eventually, man, you got to get you got to get like pissed off and like hit some people in the mouth.
00:05:49
Speaker 3: And it's one of those things.
00:05:50
Speaker 2: Right.
00:05:51
Speaker 4: I feel like the Titans defense played really physical against Baltimore. And is that just because it was Derrick Henry? You know that that physicality that they had against Baltimore? we needed to see them carry that over against the Houston Texans. And I need to go back and watch. I haven't seen the all 22 yet. Um, but I need to go back and just kind of watch like the details of the game, but sitting there, um, watching the, uh, watching from where I was watching all gas, no breaks.
00:06:19
Speaker 3: Um, the slogan hasn't set in yet.
00:06:23
Speaker 1: It was a different coach mentality like six weeks ago, literally.
00:06:27
Speaker 2: It's it's, it's changed fast.
00:06:29
Speaker 1: Um, Dude, this is a blast. Thank you for the time early in the morning, too. Let's see. Bullseye View, at Bullseye View on YouTube. You see it there, football culture from a player's perspective. And I mean, I've just, I mean, Keith's been there, done that. You know, it's more than football with his life experience. So check it out, youtube.com slash at Bullseye View.
00:06:55
Speaker 2: Thank you, man. And we'll catch up soon. I'll see you around.
00:06:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, tell Withrow I said what's up.
00:07:00
Speaker 2: I will.
00:07:00
Speaker 3: Thanks for having me.
00:07:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, he's about to join. Keith Bullock has been our guest here at Huntington-Withrow at sportinstaked.com. Straight ahead, Chad's going to jump in. We'll see what the weather's like, the backdrop. He and I, we always, like if someone joins us on the show and they're at an arena, they're at the Final Four, whatever it might be, We're very picky about the backdrop.
00:07:27
Speaker 2: Now, we don't always get to choose the backdrop for them.
00:07:30
Speaker 1: But if they sit in the hotel room, and they're up against the wall, and they're in Dallas, they're in Miami, I'm going to get the backdrop. We'll see where Chad's set up next on How to Withdraw. as we'll head down to Florida and check in with Chad. But first, XXXY Athletics, founded by Jennifer Say, former national champion gymnast, former Levi's brand president. She walked away from a corporate job rather than saying something that she didn't believe, and she started XXXY Athletics instead. Their mission, in their words, empower female athletes, take a stand for fair competition. They call it the T that launched a movement. It's where you get authentic and ready to wear Nashville Balls gear. And you're about to hear a familiar voice. Chad, Nashville Balls gear. It's the place to go. XXXY.
00:08:17
Speaker 2: That's where you go get it. Tee's Trucker Hats with you right now. You could go get the shirts if you want it. That's where you go. New customers get 20% off your first order when you sign up and free shipping over $ 100. XXXYathletics.com. That's XX-XYathletics.com.
00:08:32
Speaker 1: Dude, you said the wind is howling out there. He's in Florida and we got the backdrop. I was trying to mention backdrops like trays and stuff. We would just see the back of a of a hotel room and how you and I always like, you know, we want to see the final four. We don't want to see the, you know, the hotel bed. But this is, this is fun. This is fun.
00:08:56
Speaker 2: This ain't show friends. This is show business. You know, this is, this is, we are in the business of show. You got to show up. I'm not going to, I'm not going to go to the beach and at not least show you a nice painting of sea turtles. That's right behind me in our dining area in the condo. I mean, that's what we're in this business for. Yeah, tomorrow or maybe the next day, I'm going to try to go out on the balcony. My fear is that it's just going to wash out everything because the sun is coming up right behind us. And it's a little breezy, so you're going to hear the wind the whole time. But, yeah, we're going to give you a sense of what it's like down here. I'm in the eye of the hurricane where it just passed through with Iseas. which I'm sure I butchered that once again, but something like that. Yeah, no, we're here. There's some debris in the pool at our complex. They're just now allowing people to start trickling in starting yesterday. But I'm here doing my part, Hutton, to stimulate the economy of Perdido Key and the Panhandle because we're going to be spending a lot of money this week with the family down here. Hey, I saved this for us to discuss instead of the first segment.
00:09:58
Speaker 1: Tennessee and Arkansas. They get the win. They survive Arkansas. Mike Keith described this perfectly. He's like, the balls are in the open. He's like, the balls are, again, double-digit favorites. We've been there, done that. It's been a while since we've won here. They're like the car on the interstate that won't get out of the way. They're just, they're annoying. That's kind of the way the game went. But man, the game finishes and I've got questions about Heupel and questions about, you know, what they're going to do at quarterback just to sustain something against BAM. I'm not liking the way this starts out.
00:10:40
Speaker 2: Hutton. Let me first say that being this annoyed, irritated, angry at a 5-1 Tennessee football team really harkens back to my youth. So I will say that's a positive, that I'm this mad and this upset watching Tennessee play. And they're 5-1. They're exactly where every Tennessee fan wanted them to be and where they needed to be to have any shot to be relevant in November. So they put themselves into the position to do that at 5-1. How they've gone about it to me is just staggering. When you look at this team, I can't imagine Josh Heupel in 2021, 2022 coaching the way that he is right now. Okay. Now there's two sides of this coin. One would say, Hey, he's shown the ability to evolve and change. He's a guy who, yes, he's been all about offense in the past, but he's just not trying to screw it up for a great defense. We saw this a lot in 2024 with conservative play calling and, conservative decisions in all of this. But I watch Josh Heupel, and I see a guy that is way too conservative. He's not the same put-your-foot-in-your-cleats-on-their-throat-and-go-for-the-kill. You've got nothing to lose type of guy. The timing of what he is. I got to watch this morning, you talking about it, Hut, with Lutz, what Will Stein is right now. That's what Heupel was in year one and year two. He was a guy who was going to roll the dice. He was going to go for it. Josh Heupel ain't kicking a 51-yard field goal on fourth and two on that one drive that didn't even come close.
00:12:12
Speaker 3: Agreed.
00:12:13
Speaker 2: Josh Heupel is doing things to go ahead and put the game away. So, look, I think with some of the rule changes that allow for substitutions that slow the game down a bit in terms of how fast you can play, now they're not allowing you to just go at a hyperspace at times if the defense wants to sub. There's been some adjustments to the game and how it's played with that. I think that he has taken that and a really good defense and turned it into something that Tennessee is not offensively. And it really does look like a square peg round hole type of thing.
00:12:45
Speaker 1: Now.
00:12:46
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:12:46
Speaker 1: I was going to set up this week, um, which is, which is interesting because I felt solid. I was solid about this going into last week. Um, now I thought they would cover late against Arkansas. Um, But with Bama coming up and knowing that they had Georgia, they come into the game kneeling. I like Tennessee's chances in a close-tight game. Bama could win, but I also like Tennessee's competitive aspect there.
00:13:18
Speaker 2: Now I don't. It's Keelan Russell. He comes out of that.
00:13:23
Speaker 1: Game against Georgia where they don't get the chance to get the ball in his hands because of undisciplined play. from a player that had no business taking that shot and losing the game. But it's about the quarterback, and they've got a dude. And Tennessee, they can't trust.
00:13:44
Speaker 2: Their guys yet. Yeah, it's a very different feeling about these two teams. And we're going to get into predictions for the Alabama game. We've got all week to talk about Alabama and Tennessee.
00:13:55
Speaker 1: But it's the quarterback vibe that's just– I don't know, it just– Arkansas changed my perspective a little bit.
00:14:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, and yes, totally. And we're going to be in Knoxville this weekend, so we're going to have a lot of good coverage from the next round live, guys, also. Look, I really like Alabama in this game based on what I've seen from both teams, but we'll get into that. But if I told you, Hutton, coming out of this game, and I really, with some time to reflect, when I'm watching the game unfold, I'm thinking– This offense is a disaster. Josh Heupel has lost his balls. They can't do anything right. It's a team that doesn't play the right– the stupid penalties. I mean, you open the second half with a false start penalty, a procedural penalty when you get the ball. After what happened– let me give you two things here. One, my biggest critique of Josh Heupel over the course of this game in one moment. And then two, what I really think about George McIntyre after this game. So Josh Hypen right before the half. You've played the entire half conservatively. You're up 7-0. Your defense is playing lights out. Xavier Gilliam blows up their only drive on a one-man solo mission looking like John Rambo in First Blood Part II in the jungle where he gets the sack, forces the fumble, and recovers the fumble all in one. And then Arkansas does nothing on offense the rest of the half. You're at the 19-yard line. It's second and whatever. There's 12 seconds left in the half. Run the football. This is where you can be conservative. That's what you do. Run the football to the middle of the field. Kick a chip shot with three seconds left on the clock. Use your one timeout.
00:15:19
Speaker 3: Go up two scores. You get the ball.
00:15:22
Speaker 2: Tennessee fans feel so different if it's 10-0 at halftime the way Arkansas was playing offense. That game completely changes. Instead, you're running RPO in that moment. Let's say on that fumble where he goes back and hits Bishop. He's going to hit a slant for five yards. What good does that do you? The juice was not worth the squeeze in that moment. Continue to play conservative. Kick a field goal and go up two scores. Now, also, if I told you that George McIntyre was going to go 18 for 27 with 247 yards, a touchdown, and he was going to have four drops, he could have had a gigantic day. If Braylon Staley has his head in the game and doesn't step out of bounds for no reason, that's a 50-yard game. If Braylon Staley catches the 12-14 yard gain on third down, that was right in his lap that he dropped. That's another big gain where they continue a drive, and on that field goal, they kick the field goal to go down 14-10 at that point in the third quarter. Look, the one interception was bad. He's staring down his guy, gave the safety a chance to come over and play center field, pick it off. The other one, he gets hit. I don't know what the hell's happening on the Deshaun Bishop play. where he fumbles, honestly. I don't know whose fault it is or what's going on. That was a bad play call from Josh Heupel. I thought George McIntyre did okay. He made some really good throws. I think maybe the best throw of the day was dropped by Trent Thomas, where he's getting pressure and throws it deep over the middle, and it's right in his lap, and he drops it as he goes to the ground. Look, I don't think that he's going to be some huge playmaker that's going to go out and light up the scoreboard against Alabama or LSU. or any good team on Tennessee's schedule remaining Hutton. But I thought that really looking back at it, he did pretty well for a first start. But you've got to take care of the football better. That's one thing Faison Brandon did do, was not throw interceptions. That's good perspective.
00:17:07
Speaker 1: Last week we were saying this is a good spot for him to make his first road start in the SEC.
00:17:11
Speaker 2: It ended up being that way. I don't know.
00:17:14
Speaker 1: I'm going through the vibe that Heupel's giving me based on the way he called that game. And he did what he needed to do. They come back with a win. But, man, here comes Bama.
00:17:26
Speaker 2: Vanderbilt.
00:17:27
Speaker 1: I don't think Vanderbilt is a bad football team. But, man, they just cannot meet expectations, even in a game at home where you've got Ole Miss coming off a bye week. And not only did they win, they boat raced them. Dialed up the 1-800-ASS-WIP. and 45-7 at halftime. I mean, this felt like old Vandy, like a few years ago Vandy, instead of the current Vanderbilt that has a little swag, can compete. It's not like they're undersized. They look the part, but Chad, they don't play the part.
00:18:06
Speaker 2: No, they look like, to me, I watch Arkansas and Vandy right now, and I think it's a pretty clear separation of the two worst teams in the conference. Yeah. Based on play. And they get to go head-to-head this week, by the way. Arkansas and Vandy. I mean, that looks like a battle for last place in this conference. I think Vandy's better than Arkansas, and I think they're going to beat Arkansas. But that was a miserable performance. That was awful. 42-3 at halftime? That's awful. And I'm watching the game here and there, and I'm checking back in. I'm thinking, is this score correct with what they've done? You got Blaise Berlowitz's mom on Broadway getting caught on Diego Pavia's live stream late the night before the game talking about clowns running the program also. What is going on with Vandy quarterback's mothers being caught up in the spotlight? A generational run for mothers of quarterbacks at Vandy from what we've seen with Pavia.
00:19:00
Speaker 1: If you need to find a mother who will gain attention, you go to Diego for that, clearly.
00:19:05
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:19:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and Diego live streaming on Broadway. I mean, it's just, look, I don't... I know. We got good vibes and bad vibes. We're going to need to do a vibe check-in in college football this week, and I'll give a top five and bottom five. I'm not saying Vandy's bottom five vibes right now, but the vibes are weird at Vandy. You got a five-star quarterback who does physically look the part, and man, can that guy throw the football when he's on. He's got some drops in this game. He's not great throughout either, much like the whole Vandy team, but Now you've got Vandy fans texting me like, is this guy going to stay for this? I mean, did he sign up for this, or did he think Vandy was going to carry that 10-2 right on and continue to compete in the SEC? And is this someone who's going to stick around after this season? my contention is that Vandy is going to go pay up for transfers or big big time recruits for him to throw the ball to that receiver and that's how they're going to come they're going to have a dude Curtis moving forward they've got to go do that I think that they're going to but there's just a lot of questions and there's more questions and answers right now at Vanderbilt yeah I think they're a pretty miserable SEC team at this point. Yeah, they are.
00:20:12
Speaker 1: Hey, normally those five-star quarterbacks played at a school where there are other five-star offensive players and weapons that they pull in.
00:20:19
Speaker 2: One or two.
00:20:20
Speaker 1: Or they're recruiting on some all-star roster or something. I'll be interested to see who he's connecting with. And then, I guess, Diego as well, who played a huge factor in trying to recruit him to Vanderbilt. Let's get into Elko. Speaking of bad vibes... Um, here's Mike Elko post game, um, being stupid.
00:20:45
Speaker 2: The team right now.
00:20:47
Speaker 5: Yeah. Again, there's a difference to me between the fan base and social media. And so, um, there's a one group that I really don't care much about, you know, Billy cesspool can go be Billy cesspool. Um, our fan base stay with us, be behind us. We're going to build something that's, We told you we were going to build. We're in a really bad spot right now, but we'll work our way out of it.
00:21:12
Speaker 1: That is your fan base. And our fan base, stick with us. That is Tex-Ax. That's a massive chunk of your fans. And you want to talk about loyal fan base. It's Texas A & M. But why say that?
00:21:27
Speaker 2: Why go after the... What are you talking about?
00:21:30
Speaker 3: Win games.
00:21:32
Speaker 2: It's just.
00:21:34
Speaker 1: It's that simple. It doesn't start with the fans. Man, what a stupid move. I mean, you're not going to win that battle. But an unforced error.
00:21:44
Speaker 2: Yeah. Just a huge unforced error by Mike Elko. And Billy Sesspool, by the way, and I've sent this to Billy, you've got to monetize this thing. I will buy a Texags.com Billy Sesspool t-shirt and be a part of Billy Sesspool and wear that to SEC Media Days every year when we hang out with Billy. He's got to find some way to monetize the Billy Sespel angle of this. That fan base, like you want to talk about Volchwetter or Alabama fans being ungrateful for success or Kentucky and Arkansas fans expect too much from their football programs or all those negative connotations you might want to put with any fan base across the SEC, right, of being overly critical, overly emotional. They don't keep their powder dry, right? That's what you'd say about most every SEC fan base. That A & M fan base is the definition of keeping your powder dry.
00:22:36
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:22:36
Speaker 2: They are calm. They are patient. Yes. They defend their program and their guys and their coaches typically longer than other SEC fan bases. Well, Billy would be the first to tell you this. To go after Billy Lucci and TechSax.com, which you're right, Hutton, huge supporters of that program.
00:22:53
Speaker 1: Massive.
00:22:53
Speaker 2: And they're helping raise NIL money for your program. And you're going to attack Billy and the cesspool of TechSax?
00:23:01
Speaker 3: Come on, man.
00:23:02
Speaker 2: Give me a break because a few people are disappointed, which rightfully so, based on expectations this year, and the job that you and your staff have done with this team. I mean, look, this is what you have to eliminate if you're an SEC program and you're struggling, right? It's one thing to struggle. Everybody's going to have a down year. Teams are going to take steps back. It truly is a week-to-week and a year-to-year operation in the SEC. And I want to hit on this with Kentucky, too, and Will Stein and your role. Oh, yeah.
00:23:30
Speaker 1: And they're already asking Elko about, you know, Reed, Marcel Reed. And he's like, I don't think the backup gives us a chance or it's not the move to make.
00:23:41
Speaker 2: That's a bad spot.
00:23:43
Speaker 1: I had them pushing for a playoff spot whenever we joined Tex-Ags down at SEC Media Days. I liked the way that team was built. I was dead wrong. And I still like Marcel Reed. But last year was... Last year was different. We saw improvement. He was adding things to his overall skill set. And, man, it's just been inconsistency and bad football play.
00:24:09
Speaker 2: Bad interceptions. It's really bad. It's really bad, Hutton. And I had them in the playoffs, so like you, I was dead wrong about this A & M football team. But Mike Yelko, man, you've got to appreciate the place you're at and understand that if you think– this is like the people who call– Bomani Jones, everybody called the Titans media group– Hostiles. This viper's pit of dogged reporters that are going to be all over them. That A & M fan base is as friendly, as kind, as welcoming as any fan base in the SEC. And they are not quick to judge and quick to throw someone out like a lot of other fan bases would be. Quite frankly, the– The panic meter with other fan bases in the SEC based off preseason expectations, the way A & M has looked, would be far higher at Tennessee, at Florida, at LSU, at you name a bunch of programs, you know, typical blue blood in the past programs that would be ready to fire the coach. I don't get that sense with A & M. They're disappointed. Yes, they should be. They're fan base. But they're not ready to fire Elko. It was just a completely unforced error by him. All right. So, Will Stein.
00:25:16
Speaker 1: Yeah. Man, they are last year's Oklahoma, right? We were looking at Mississippi State. It turns out to be Kentucky. Again, congratulations Lutz, who was manning the storm and got through all the wind. What a just perfect play call and well executed in the moment by their quarterback.
00:25:41
Speaker 2: Legit, man. This is a fun team to watch. I'm surprised it's Kentucky. Yeah, I want Josh Heupel to return to more of this with what we're seeing with Will Stein. This guy is playing with house money. He knows it. He is instilling a confidence and a swagger into his guys. He is showing belief in them. You know, he's not kicking 50-plus-yard field goals on fourth and two. I mean, he is immediately putting that two fingers in the air when they score. Back-to-back weeks, first team ever in football history to win back-to-back weeks by one point in overtime. By going for two and winning it at South Carolina and then rolling the dice the same way again against LSU, running it back, doing it again. Great play calls in both of them. Got schemed open a guy wide open at South Carolina. And then the parting of the Red Sea from LSU's defense on Kenny Minchie's quarterback draw right at the middle for the win. I'm super impressed with this guy. I think that we can throw out this hole. It takes three or four years to build a program mantra in college football. We've seen it with Will Stein. We saw it with Kurt Cignetti. We've seen it now. Bob Chesney at UCLA, another great example. Year one, the team's undefeated. They just beat Oregon, granted, with a terrible backup quarterback in Dylan Raiola. My God, that guy's not good. Wasn't good in Nebraska. Nebraska, huge upgrade, by the way, at quarterback with what they got as opposed to Dylan Raiola. But I'm watching this, and I'm also thinking there's a lot of criticism about, let's say, Josh Heupel in year six. How in year six? Year six, are you still doing this? Year six, you've got a young quarterback. Year six. And I'm thinking, guys, every year is totally different. You can throw out this, you should be better in year eight as opposed to year one. You can also just throw out the, it's going to take until year three or four. This is not a steady progression type system in college football. It is, here's what you are in 2024. Oh, now you're something totally different in 25. Now you're totally different in 26. There's no building of anything. It is just complete snapshots for one season only. You can't go to the transfer portal mid-season. And add things that you need or get rid of guys that you don't want, right? So it's– I just really think that we're in an era now. And, again, credit to Will Stein. I'm not trying to take away from what he's done in year one. I just think it's been proven now you can be gangbusters in year one or you can be terrible in year one. And it doesn't affect year two. Will Stein at Kentucky could take a huge step back in year two, and it wouldn't shock me. Now, they could also be in the college football playoff in year two, and it wouldn't shock me right now. That's just– how it's not even cyclical. It is a year-to-year seesaw at times of emotion and what teams are and what they present each year. I mean, Tennessee, if Joey Aguilar gets the injunction from the judge in East Tennessee and he's quarterback on this team with that year of experience, Tennessee might be the best team in college football with Joey Aguilar at quarterback in this defense. He had a terrible defense a year ago, and they were setting records on offense, right? Like, it's just, again... It is year to year with every team in college football.
00:28:40
Speaker 1: Well, I mean, think about Oregon right now. Speaking of some weird field goal attempts and play calls in general, Dan Landy's going through it right now. Odd to see them with two losses the way they have it. Ohio State, they are able to take care of business. Texas loses. Arch Manning, not living up to it.
00:29:03
Speaker 2: He's struggling.
00:29:04
Speaker 1: He's not looking good. I was thinking about it the entire time watching that game. This dude is not the number one pick. But he's not playing like the number one overall pick in any sense of that. Neither is Cam Ward. And, Chad, I want your take on this.
00:29:21
Speaker 2: Not only.
00:29:22
Speaker 1: You had a sense. Whenever you picked the Titans, I was surprised. And I was like, man, he's going to nail this. He's going to get it right. And not only did they just... I mean, totally not show up. They were handled by an open.
00:29:42
Speaker 2: I want to get your take on it. Awful.
00:29:44
Speaker 1: I mean, they're already preparing for the offseason. Sala said that they're evaluating over the next one. This is their floor next to a hot new wind throw. Honey with row presented by hard rock bets, hard rock dot bet slash clay. It's where you go for new customers, bet $ 5, get up to $ 500 in no sweat bets.
00:30:07
Speaker 2: And it's where you go. App is fantastic. Easy to use, easy to find your games.
00:30:13
Speaker 1: Uh, it's been the easiest interface that I've dealt with, uh, in this and Chad, it is, uh, it's available in Florida. It's, it's, you're, you're able to use it down there. Hard rock, uh, Florida's only legal sports book. And, uh, You may not know the Hard Rock. You know the Hard Rock. You may not know the Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook app. Available also in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia.
00:30:38
Speaker 2: And I've got family members that are downloading the app right now. Good. Because we're in Florida, and they're not using anything else. And they are loving the interface. They're loving Hard Rock Bet and what they're seeing with that. They're even playing. You can see Clay Travis's blood bank guarantee each week at the front of the site. and go and just click on Clay's picture, and you can play that also. You can bet $ 5, get up to $ 500 in no-sweat bets. My family member is taking advantage of that in the state of Florida right now. And for new customers, 10 daily, $ 50 no-sweat bets. That's where you need to go. Hardrock.bet slash Clay. That's Hardrock.bet backslash Clay. Make sure you go there. Take advantage of those daily promos, and let's have some fun with Hardrock Bet. Chad, after the field goal, the Tennessee Titans, they opened up the game. It was very fun.
00:31:24
Speaker 1: Similar to the Jets game, where they go down and they do okay, and then they just, you know, they just die. The Titans after that field goal, their longest drive, gained 27 yards. That is the definition of abysmal. And they're not getting better. This is a situation where it is now on a three, there's three months, as of yesterday, exactly three months left in the season And here they are on another death march going into week six. It was Callahan fired going into year two in week six, after week six. Before Halloween, Robert Sala is saying this to his locker room.
00:32:07
Speaker 6: You know, like I told the locker room after the game just now, it's these next... 12 games or whatever we have is going to define the people that we're going to ride with moving on to the next year. Not that we're cashing out, but just to be clear. But these next 12 games are going to identify who's going to be here when we get this thing turned around.
00:32:26
Speaker 2: I mean, I'll be honest.
00:32:27
Speaker 1: These five games have identified turnover the roster again by 50%. They're 0 for their last 11 in the division. They have not won a home game in the AFC South since January 7, 2024. Ryan Tannehill, Derek Henry, and Mike Vrabel were on that sideline. It's been a while. And six years ago, Chad, Ryan Tannehill and that offense, they put up over 600 yards of total.
00:32:51
Speaker 2: Offense six years ago this week.
00:32:54
Speaker 1: And this offense can't even do anything until garbage time where they're kind of hiding really how bad this actually is. The 0 for teams, the teams that have gone winless, were better at this point in the season than Yeah, better at this point in the season offensively than what the Titans are doing.
00:33:13
Speaker 2: This is going really basement level. This is their floor, Chad. Well, are we so sure that the next 11 games, 12 games left in the season also won't determine whether or not Robert Sala and his staff are back? Not just him talking about what players put on the film and who plays well and who does what. I'm thinking, are you going to be the one that decides who's on the field? Because I don't think anything. I mean, I look at Amy Adams-Strunk. And her reaction to losses typically against the Texans, and I'm thinking everything's in play right now. Is there going to be a change with Burke Nihill at some point this season or after the season? Is there going to be a change at head coach? Is there going to be a change at general manager? I mean, I'm not willing to throw any possibility with this team and the ineptitude of ownership and leadership within that organization since really 2020, I would say, since the last time they were truly relevant, right, since COVID-19. That's when Burke became president. Yeah, there you go. And maybe circle that as a possibility, as some of the things that have gone on.
00:34:15
Speaker 1: And I'm glad you brought up Amy. I pulled some quotes from her when they fired people. She used to be quoted in the press release. Now it's the last one, I believe it was Brinker. And then it's Burke. I'll get to that in a moment, because what she says in statements are exactly what you're talking about. Like, this is pathetic. It's uncalled for. I will directly read what she said. But what we know is maybe change is going to happen. But change is not going to happen at quarterback. Here's Robert Sala saying it's Cam Ward for the rest of the season.
00:34:48
Speaker 2: After this performance.
00:34:49
Speaker 4: You guys are going to be dead last in points per game, dead last in yards per game.
00:34:53
Speaker 2: Is there a thought to making a change, whether it's Bench or Cam Ward, changing something to develop some kind of spark?
00:35:00
Speaker 5: No.
00:35:01
Speaker 3: Not with Cam.
00:35:02
Speaker 5: Why not?
00:35:02
Speaker 2: Why not?
00:35:04
Speaker 6: Cam's our starting quarterback. We're going to give him every opportunity to be successful this year. And we're going to continue working with him, grinding with him, and.
00:35:13
Speaker 3: Trying to help him get better.
00:35:16
Speaker 2: That's a mandate from ownership to me. The look in his eyes when he's being asked that question, just having to repeat that, is I signed up for this. I agreed to this to take the job. I wanted a second opportunity to be a head coach after I failed. with the New York Jets, they're willing to give me this chance. And if I'm willing to say, yeah, sure, we'll ride with the number one overall pick for year two and not bench him, regardless of how bad it gets. I think that he agreed to that when he took the job. And I think that's a guy who's saying, even if I wanted to go back on what I said and remove him to give us a chance to actually win a football game in this league with Mitch Trubisky, which Mitch Trubisky would absolutely give them a better chance to win a football game. There's no doubt about it. What are the Cam Ward defenders today, by the way? Where are the Cam Ward defenders today? all in my timeline about him and this team and how he's getting better and improvement and everything else. They've really gone quiet on all of this. But again, Hutton, I think it's a guy who doesn't have that decision to make. It's out of his hands.
00:36:12
Speaker 3: This is an.
00:36:12
Speaker 2: Ownership decision to give him every game of this season and then reevaluate moving into the new stadium. If they're picking number one overall, I think Arch Manning has looked quite bad this year as Texas quarterback. I'm willing to say that halfway through the year right now. He's been underwhelming. He's been a disappointment. this organization would draft him number one overall for the marketing purposes of it. I truly believe that with them. Even given the football not being good enough with Arch Manning, they wouldn't go draft Jeremiah Smith, but they should draft number one overall after they go 0-17 and then bring in a veteran quarterback and find the quarterback at some other time when you can get it there. They're going to go draft an Arch Manning because they think they can market the new stadium and the organization better if they do that. How bad has it been for the Titans this year? And I sent you guys this from Joey Garrison. Yeah. In five weeks of football, the Titans still haven't reached the 59 points the Bears scored in week one. Bears 59, Titans 58. That's 20 quarters versus four quarters. The Titans might have one of the worst offenses in NFL history, 11.6 points per game. And there really is no reason to think it's going to get better. That from Joey Garrison.
00:37:20
Speaker 3: Okay, so.
00:37:23
Speaker 1: If Sala's going to get fired, I think it'll be next year. So he goes into next year, year two. The consistent year is year two. If anyone's on the hot seat right now, of course it's Burke now. But it could also be Borghese because it's year two. I say that because, here's Amy Adam Strzok when she fired Vrabel. I will never shy away from acknowledging this. that I have unapologetically high expectations for this football team and every aspect of this organization. Our vision is not simply to produce more wins and losses. It's to regularly compete for championships. While this season was disappointing, I see early signs of progress taking shape. And she goes on to talk about the salary cap and all this. She talks about her young quarterback, which was Will Levis. And then she says, we will meet the moment. Robinson, since becoming controlling owner in 2015, my goal has been to raise the standard for what is expected in all facets of this organization. I believe we have made significant progress both on and off the field through investments of leadership, personnel, and new ideas.
00:38:20
Speaker 2: I am proud of what we have accomplished in my.
00:38:22
Speaker 1: Eight seasons of ownership, but I believe there is more to be done and higher aspirations to be met.
00:38:27
Speaker 2: Rand Carthaw in chat.
00:38:28
Speaker 1: It's impossible to ignore that our football team hasn't improved over the last two years. I'm deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period, but my decision also speaks to my concern about our long-term future should we stay the course. I love this team more than you could ever imagine. To our fans, we know this level of performance isn't acceptable. We're humbled by your support as we continue to work towards the ultimate goal and what you expect and deserve.
00:38:53
Speaker 2: And one more.
00:38:54
Speaker 1: Brinker's statement on Brian Callahan. While we are committed to a patient and strategic plan to build a sustainable winning, opposite of Amy Armstrong, a patient and strategic plan, we have not demonstrated sufficient growth. Our players, fans, and community deserve a football team that achieves a standard we are not currently meeting. We are committed to making the hard decisions necessary to reach and maintain that standard. Where is that standard right now? Where the coach is talking about the next 12 games before he even tries to make a change. The dude's 20-41 as a head coach. There should be urgency, Chad. I don't see that. And I don't... Maybe someone gets fired today. It'll be a Tuesday or Wednesday when she does it. But it's mind-boggling to me that this has been every single firing.
00:39:42
Speaker 2: Except right now, where's that standard? The standard's not being met. It's pathetic. It's the worst Titans team ever.
00:39:50
Speaker 1: Other than maybe the 2015 Titans with Wizard Hunt, that I can remember.
00:39:56
Speaker 2: The bar is so low, they can't even get the win total they had last year. I saw PK on his video where he said, the answer to everybody's question is yes. Is this the worst it's ever been? Yes. And he went on and on. He's been there the whole time. And he said, this is the worst it's ever been. This is not immediacy bias. or recency bias. This is the worst the Titans organization has ever been, top to bottom. On-field production, quarterback situation, fan base apathy, everything you could say. I mean, that stadium yesterday was horrendous. And I don't blame anybody. I posted a photo of the crowd three minutes before kickoff that Buck Rising had posted. I don't blame anybody for not going, by the way. This is not me getting on the Titans fan. It's incredibly sad that your organization has produced this to the level of, no one should go to those games. I don't know why anyone would go, unless you're a visiting fan that wants to watch your team win. I don't know why anyone would go to a game. I made the mistake of listening to Titans radio on my drive down to the beach yesterday. And that opening, when they go to whatever the pregame show is at 11 a.m. with the standard never changes, compete, improve, or whatever. And I'm thinking the standard never, The standard never changes. Let's go back to the standard set in week one against the New York Jets. Boy, they're right. That standard has not changed. That's a team that continues to find silly ways to get in their own way that looks ridiculous at times. They become memes. Yes. Their offensive lineman not blocking someone going right at their quarterback. Again, this is not being emotional or being over the top or being anything. This is a fact. that the organization has never been, had worse leadership. It has never been more poorly run than it is right now. And you brought up Ken Wisenhunt, a great example of that guy didn't get along with anybody. He was a jerk to everybody around that facility. He didn't win football games, all of that. He was better with Ken Wisenhunt. He did not want to be looked in the eye. He didn't want to be looked in the eye. Yeah.
00:42:06
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:42:07
Speaker 2: It was better with that guy. It was better with that guy because of people around him too, that could figure it out above him or get it right. Was Steve Underwood there? Had he returned? Yeah, he, he was, yes, he was there.
00:42:22
Speaker 1: Um, that was just, cause that's when Amy came back or took over and that was right after Tommy Smith. So yes, he came back to help mentor Amy. Um, Man, I said last night on Channel 5, it's being run like a Google company. Like they have little nap rooms in there. You know, like instead of football. The football organization needs to get back to being a football organization. But instead, they come out flat in week one. They come out flat here. I mean, the combined score was 49-13. 49-13 against the Jets.
00:43:03
Speaker 2: And the Texans, a team that has a combined, what, three wins right now? Two teams?
00:43:10
Speaker 1: And yet you lost 49-13 in those games. This is Brian Day. This is not first-year coaches in their new roles. They're selling all this hope, and the time is now. You're allowed to win in the month of September. But just like Cam Ward does in the fourth quarter, they're going to win games in December in garbage time and go through the same paces again. It's the same exact thing. And I don't blame fans one bit. I picked them to win. And that was not me trolling or trying to reverse that.
00:43:45
Speaker 2: I know. You're genuine about it. I'm like, they're 0-4 and they're getting another 0-4 team in their house where the head coach has had to take over play calling responsibility. If not now, then never. And it's certainly not going to be never. Never. This team isn't going 0-17, right? That was my thought process. Cam Ward did look a little bit better in the second half at times against the Ravens. I'm thinking he's going to come out, he's going to play good enough, and they're going to win some 12-9 field goal fest, rugby scrum of a game, and that's going to be their one of two wins on the season when they go 2-15 was my thought. They got destroyed in this football game. I mean, they got just boa constrictor the entire second half of that game by a Texans team who has been miserable, who didn't even do anything special in that game to beat you 26-3. Terrible. This from JT, who sends us this from Jim Wyatt. Sala on Cam Ward remaining the starter. It's a coaching staff decision, he said. Said Cam had one of his better games versus the Ravens, and he acknowledged Sunday's performance versus Texans was a step back.
00:44:50
Speaker 3: There we go.
00:44:51
Speaker 2: So you get to start the rest of the year, Cam. Because you had a good second half against the Ravens in a loss where the Ravens set their star quarterback and played Tyler Huntley in order to give you a chance to come back and you couldn't do that. So congrats. That second half against the Ravens gets you the whole season.
00:45:09
Speaker 1: He's basically Mike McCoy right now. Mike McCoy did this last year. Play off the season. Just get us to the offseason. And Callahan did this year one. And then he was given six games after a pathetic year one. So, Solon's going into the new stadium on the hot seat if he's kept around. My Aunt Mitzi is in the condo next to us right now behind us. Huge Titans fan.
00:45:35
Speaker 2: And last night we're sitting around talking about the Titans and that pathetic performance. And she says, who was the coach last year, McCoy, that took over? He did a pretty good job. You know, I feel like they could have done a better job with him. And I'm thinking the fact that I'm pausing right now to consider that Mike McCoy may have been a better option just to take over the full-time job after last season shows you exactly how awful Robert Sala has been. How awful Brian Dayball has been. How bad from Amy to Burke Nihill to everyone in that organization has been on down. And I honestly– it's starting to turn where I feel bad for like Jeffrey Simmons and Cam Ward at times. When they're like, hey, how are you not a loser? Well, you know, I know that we've lost every game and that we lose here. But, I mean, I just don't feel like a loser because we have good practices. Or if you were here during the week and saw how we compete, and I'm thinking, I mean– Looks like one, walks like one, smells like one. I mean, you are. You are one. And that's what this organization is right now.
00:46:36
Speaker 3: Losing.
00:46:37
Speaker 2: They're losers.
00:46:38
Speaker 1: This is the NFL where you win early. You win in quarter two, three, and four of the season. And you start to show consistency. There is zero consistency, which means there's not improvement. You can have a game of improvement. That doesn't matter. It's about the consistency, building, stacking, and they do none of that. That's going back a few years. A quick break. Coming up, credit to Stu.
00:47:04
Speaker 2: We made what? Chad cashed in. Well done.
00:47:08
Speaker 1: We'll tell you about the bet and also some props that were big winners as well.
00:47:13
Speaker 2: A hard rock bet here on Hutton and Withrow.
00:47:15
Speaker 4: This year, the party's getting even bigger.
00:47:17
Speaker 3: Hey, there's Jay Boyd. They know me. This party, everybody's somebody. And Hard Rock Bet has something for everyone.
00:47:24
Speaker 6: Plus, new customers bet $ 5 and get up to $ 500 in no-sweat bets.
00:47:29
Speaker 3: Big friend.
00:47:31
Speaker 1: It is Hard Rock Bets on Hutton & Withrow. A great offer right now. New customers bet $ 5, get up to $ 500 in no-sweat bets. Hardrock.bet.com. Chad, congratulations.
00:47:46
Speaker 2: The lock.
00:47:47
Speaker 1: The lock hits again. And your Friday night, your run on Friday night is phenomenal as well. I hit on Trevor Lawrence. UGA to win outright. But BYU minus 10.5.
00:47:59
Speaker 2: Well done. Yeah. Good job on Georgia, too, which I like Georgia a lot for that SEC title. That's why I picked them in the preseason, too.
00:48:07
Speaker 3: 14-1, Hutton.
00:48:08
Speaker 2: 14-1. We're sitting in Woodbury, Tennessee, Canaan County High School Friday night.
00:48:11
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:48:12
Speaker 2: And I'm showing you scores, and I'm updating scores, and I'm like, look at this. all of daddy's picks coming through. I was sitting there. The quarterback is saying F and jump to the lineman when they're trying to get them to jump off sides and just punking Washington in that game. Hawkeyes look great on the money line for that one. It was a three and a half point underdog. Louisville dominates FSU. Finally, they look like a good football team again, winning by 24 points. And then late at night, I got home an hour and a half, you know, drive hour and 20 minutes, drive home. get home and I'm watching the second half of that BYU game and I'm like, please, please, please. And the Cougs cover, not by a lot, but they cover in that game to give me the clean sweep of the three-leg Friday night parlay. Hutton, I'm not great right now on Saturday and Sunday. We're accountable on this show. We'll be honest with our successes and our failures constantly. I'm really bad on Sundays with the NFL. Not great on Saturdays. I am telling the public right now, I'm telling you, tail me. on Friday nights because 14-1, you're not going to get any better than that. Clay Travis even gave me a shout-out and said, be seeing your picks on Friday with that type of percentage. And I will have picks for every game on Friday night this week for us also Friday night college football. So let's, let's ride the hot hand. Let's ride the hot hand.
00:49:32
Speaker 1: Adding to the stack, I told JT, who he chimed in over the weekend, and said, you know, take a step out of this.
00:49:38
Speaker 2: I'm like, no, no, no, no, no. You're getting advice from Todd Furman. We'll be okay. We'll be okay. Check out the schedule for this weekend, October 17th. We'll be here soon.
00:49:51
Speaker 1: And, man, we've got some massive matchups. The SEC, no one is safe. Florida's lost two in a row. You've got Texas, who's coming off the upset loss to Oklahoma. LSU with the loss. There are a lot of teams on the rebound, including Alabama, who is favored now by 7.5.
00:50:10
Speaker 2: Tell you what, a couple of money line picks I'd be looking to make this week with a team that's an underdog. Kentucky and Oklahoma. Minus 6.5 for Oklahoma. I think Kentucky goes on the road and wins. I'm going to stop being an unbeliever in Missouri. Missouri's going to go to Ole Miss and win. even as an underdog. I'm a believer in Missouri now with what they've been able to do. I like both those games. I thought you were going to say the Citadel. I do not like Tennessee as a 7.5-point underdog, I will say. Right now, we'll see how the week progresses, but I would take Bama to cover the 7.5 in Knoxville on Saturday. This Tennessee offense does not have what it takes to knock off Alabama.
00:50:53
Speaker 1: Can Florida get their run game back and go on the road? I think they cover. I can't wait to watch that game.
00:51:00
Speaker 2: And how about Beamer Ball, Hutt? How about Beamer Ball? I mean, the resurrection of Shane Beamer. Incredible.
00:51:06
Speaker 1: I went back and pulled some cuts for tomorrow about him talking about being on the hot seat and how this team has stuck with him.
