Speaker 1: Accidents don't wait for great timing. One bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a doctor who wasn't paying attention. Suddenly you're fighting an insurance company that does this every single day. And that's why Clay started Clay Travis Law. He's a Vanderbilt Law grad, built a firm around the idea that people deserve someone willing to pay attention, ask the hard questions, push back when things don't add up. Experienced trial attorneys who bring the fight to corporations and insurers based in Nashville, trusted across the country.
00:00:25
Speaker 2: Car and truck wrecks, ride share accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability, product liability. If you were wrong, they want to hear about it. Here's what they promise.
00:00:32
Speaker 3: Honesty.
00:00:33
Speaker 2: They don't sugarcoat your case. You'll hear what it's actually worth, not what you want to hear. Case evaluation is free. No charge, no pressure, no hassle. Just tell them your story. Go to claytravislaw.com or call them at 877-222-4444. That's claytravislaw.com. No case is too big or too small. Chad, scale of 1 to 10, how easy or.
00:00:54
Speaker 1: Difficult would you say it was to come up with your list this week?
00:00:57
Speaker 3: 9 out of 10, Hutton. Very, very easy.
00:01:00
Speaker 2: There are some weeks where I have 14 to 17 games I list, and then I try to decipher between those to get down to 10. This week I've listed 11 games as possibilities. So apologies to Florida State at Louisville, who did not make the cut. That was my 11th game out, the only one of my games that I listed that did not make it. College football, top 10 games of the week.
00:01:23
Speaker 3: Hutton, are you ready? I am ready.
00:01:24
Speaker 1: Can't wait. Chad Withrow's top 10 games of the week starts right now.
00:01:28
Speaker 2: Games 10 through 6, let's start there. South Carolina at number 16, Florida, is game number 10.
00:01:36
Speaker 3: We're going to go 10 to 1 on this. South Carolina at number 16, Florida.
00:01:41
Speaker 2: This game will be at 11.45 a.m. Central Time on SEC Network. South Carolina, three straight losses. Bad news for the Gamecocks. Their next three games are against top 25 teams. So the run game has been excellent so far for South Carolina.
00:01:57
Speaker 3: Dylan Stewart will return.
00:01:59
Speaker 2: And, guys, let's put 10 through 6 up on the screen if we can, please. Don't want to reveal too quickly about the top five, but I think everybody can guess what number one is going to be. So for South Carolina, Hutton, three in a row, they don't want to go to six straight losses, obviously, for the sake of Shane Beamer and keeping his job. Florida, they're the media darling. A week ago, they go to Missouri. They get housed. How do they respond at home in this game? We're going to find out in one of the early games tomorrow.
00:02:27
Speaker 1: This is a funeral procession, Chad. South Carolina, Florida.
00:02:32
Speaker 2: This is not the beginning of the end for Shane Beamer. You're saying this is more of the middle of the procession of the end for him.
00:02:39
Speaker 1: I feel like we're on the death march here.
00:02:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going to be interesting because South Carolina, they do have one of the best running games in the nation.
00:02:48
Speaker 3: Running games typically travel. On the road. Is Florida, did they get too much praise too early? I'm with you.
00:02:54
Speaker 2: I think Florida handles business. And they're catching Florida off the loss. I think we're going to continue talking about.
00:02:58
Speaker 3: Shane Beamer's job.
00:02:59
Speaker 1: Catching Florida off the loss doesn't help.
00:03:01
Speaker 3: No, you're right.
00:03:03
Speaker 2: How about catching Ole Miss off the loss? And Vanderbilt off the loss. That's game number nine. Ole Miss, a nine-and-a-half point favorite on the road in Nashville at Vanderbilt.
00:03:12
Speaker 3: 2.30 Central time on ESPN.
00:03:15
Speaker 2: Weather is going to be an issue in this game, Hutton, and it's one that all the rain that was supposed to be in Tuscaloosa for their game against Georgia looks like it's going to be in Nashville possibly tomorrow afternoon. Could be out of here earlier than that also, and we could be fine for that game. Ole Miss coming off a bye. Trinidad Chambliss, how is he going to perform on the road in this game?
00:03:38
Speaker 3: Jared Curtis, who was.
00:03:39
Speaker 2: Out against Georgia, should be back for the Commodores. Game number eight, Iowa at Washington. Iowa ranked 20th nationally, coming off that big-time showcase game at home against Ohio State. They go on the road to Seattle to take on a Washington team that has been a disappointment. Washington still a three-point favorite in this game. It's tonight on Fox, 8 p.m. Central Time, 9 p.m. Eastern for this game. A Jonathan Hutton special for this one. How does Iowa bounce back? How does Washington bounce back after the road loss to USC? DeMond Williams for Washington. Outside Heisman chances coming into the season. People saw Washington's Big Ten schedule and thought they have a real opportunity to be a college football playoff sleeper.
00:04:20
Speaker 3: Not been the case for the Huskies.
00:04:21
Speaker 2: A chance to get right against a really good opponent tonight for Washington in this one.
00:04:26
Speaker 1: Hard rock bet right now.
00:04:27
Speaker 2: 3.5.
00:04:27
Speaker 1: You've got Iowa getting 3.5 on the road there.
00:04:33
Speaker 3: I don't know where I'm going with this one.
00:04:35
Speaker 2: I got a hard time because of that trip to Seattle, what it's going to be like for Iowa. But we may get some picks on this one a little bit later. Game number seven, Hutton, let's stay in the Big Ten. Number 19, USC, on the road at Penn State. The Nittany Lions, a one-and-a-half point favorite, 7.30 Eastern time, 6.30 Central kickoff. on NBC. Why is Penn State favored, Hutton? It is the wideout game. Wideout has very different meanings at Penn State, as we found out with an offseason story, but their wideout game this year against USC. Penn State's dropped two games in a row. They lose at home to Wisconsin, and then they go to Northwestern and get blown out.
00:05:13
Speaker 3: Since Lincoln Riley took over at USC.
00:05:17
Speaker 2: The Trojans are 0-5 as road underdogs. They're only 5-5 as single-digit favorites on the road. That's no bueno for the lack of road warrior ability for USC. That's why Penn State is favored, Hutton. I still got a hard time, even though it's the whiteout, everything else going on. I have a hard time picking Penn State in this game. They have not looked good in year one under Matt Campbell.
00:05:39
Speaker 3: I agree.
00:05:40
Speaker 1: I also have a hard time picking Lincoln Riley, too, on the road. because he had that win against Washington. They've played better. USC, though, Chad, to me, for Lincoln Riley to win me over, he's got to prove it on the road. His team has to prove it on the road. This is one of those games, and just the environments and the travel, everything involved. I stayed away from this game because I don't know which way I feel better, Pitt State this year or USC on the road.
00:06:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, those two Big Ten games, back-to-back, I have a hard time picking one way or the other. Iowa at Washington and USC at Penn State.
00:06:14
Speaker 3: Game number six.
00:06:15
Speaker 2: I'm going to go ahead and give you my pick on this one, I think. Texas A & M is about to go on the road and beat Missouri. 14th ranked Missouri after destroying Florida at home is a three-and-a-half point favorite. 12 noon, 11 a.m. Central time on ABC. Call it the SEC media darling curse. Ole Miss beats LSU. The next week they go to the Swamp. Get blown out.
00:06:40
Speaker 1: Yes.
00:06:40
Speaker 2: Florida blows out Ole Miss. Now it's Buster Faulkner this, Buster Faulkner that.
00:06:45
Speaker 1: I'm following you.
00:06:46
Speaker 2: John Sumrall's a dude. That rushing attack can't be stopped. They go up to Missouri. They get smacked in the face with a 2x4.
00:06:54
Speaker 3: Actually, they got stoned by those stones in the end zone. I was about to say the same thing. They're in Missouri.
00:06:59
Speaker 2: They got stoned in that game by Missouri. Now Eli Drinkwitz is like, I'm not going to sit and listen to you guys and your AP votes and your tweets.
00:07:07
Speaker 3: And everything else. and whatever you want to say about your program.
00:07:10
Speaker 2: Eli, you're definitely not going to hear what people say about your program after you lose at home to Texas A & M in this game. Give me the Aggies to go on the road and get the upset. I think the SEC media darling curse is a real thing for teams coming off a high and then facing a tricky opponent the next week. I think A & M gets it right. I think Marcel Reed and A & M gain some confidence in that easy win over Arkansas. I think that defense is going to play well. I think they go on the road and beat Missouri this week as a 3.5-point underdog.
00:07:41
Speaker 1: Chad, Texas A & M, not as good as I thought they would be. They're also not this bad.
00:07:46
Speaker 3: No.
00:07:46
Speaker 1: And neither is Marcel Reed. And I don't think Missouri is as good as we think they are here. I understand the curse and all that, but the team coming off a big win, I don't mind this upset pick on the money line at all. I would take the points.
00:08:02
Speaker 2: I also don't think that Mike Elko is the type of coach who's going to have a team quit. I don't think there's going to be give up or quit with A & M. I think they rally in this game.
00:08:11
Speaker 1: They're too talented to lose as many games as what we assume they will based on their two-game skid.
00:08:18
Speaker 2: Now let's go to our top five. Top five games of the college football weekend. Number five, Red River shootout, Red River rivalry, whatever you want to call it. This is going to be a rugby scrum of a football game. Two great defenses and two very average to, in Oklahoma's case, I think below average offenses so far this year. Number one, Texas, a seven and a half point favorite against Oklahoma, neutral site game, 2.30 central time on ABC. Oklahoma's offense, Hutton, How bad have they been? They're 112th nationally in yards per play and on points per drive. Texas ranks 120th in yards per play. Both of these offenses have been bad. Arch Manning's QBR against the Blitz is one of the worst in America.
00:09:09
Speaker 3: Oklahoma.
00:09:10
Speaker 2: has the best sack rate in America. What gives in this game? You look at this matchup on paper, and this looks like a 10-7 football game. Oklahoma's defense is going to get to Arch Manning the way Tennessee did. They're going to affect him. He's not good against the Blitz. He's not good when he's pressured. They lead the nation in sack rate. Texas' offense has been pedestrian. John Mateer has been bad. I still like Texas to cover in this game somehow, some way, but Hutton, you look at it on paper, and this looks like a 10-7 football game.
00:09:41
Speaker 1: What gives is I've seen Texas at least beat a quality opponent with a comeback and do it behind their quarterback play. I've seen other aspects of that team. What gives is the Texas defense, not the Oklahoma defense. I would take the Texas defense here. And this is my lock of the week. I got this at 7.5. locked it in at minus 7.5 against Oklahoma.
00:10:03
Speaker 2: I shouldn't say 120 for Texas in yards per play. It's yards per carry in the rushing game. Their run game has been bad. They're not worse than Oklahoma offensively, though. So let me make that correction. Not yards per play. That was the Oklahoma stat. Yards per carry for Texas, they're really bad. Game number four, number 10 LSU, eight and a half point favorite in Lexington against the Kentucky Wildcats. The suddenly resurgent Kentucky Wildcats under Will Stein. They have a swagger. They have an offense. They have an opportunistic physical defense. They've got a physical run game now with Kentucky also. This game is 7 p.m. Eastern time kickoff on ESPN. We keep looking for the big rain weather game because of the hurricane coming through and the remnants.
00:10:43
Speaker 3: This could be it.
00:10:44
Speaker 2: At night in Lexington could be a time where there's going to be a lot of rain and a lot of wind.
00:10:49
Speaker 3: With Kentucky hosting LSU.
00:10:51
Speaker 2: Does Kentucky's physical run game come into play in this? An opportunistic defense that's been able to turn teams over Kentucky's offense, though, is worst in America in third-down conversions. Might surprise you with Will Stein's offense.
00:11:04
Speaker 3: Not good at all. And for LSU, Hutton, you look at them.
00:11:10
Speaker 2: Coming off really the only bad play you've seen so far this year was against Ole Miss. They've been really good in every other game. They're almost a double-digit favorite on the road. I might take Kentucky to cover. in this one I think they could muddy it up especially if the weather's bad and this could be a very good it's going to be a very good environment our Jacob Lutz is going to be there I think Kentucky covers but loses a close game he'll be there in the rain he will and you said this is eight and a half Chad it is eight and a half this is one of those where I'm like what does Vegas know because I thought this would be a lot closer uh with the road team getting favored by eight and a half um I want to take the points as well. I stayed away from this one specifically because it was too steep. It hasn't moved either all week, which is also surprising.
00:11:56
Speaker 3: Game number three. Let's go back to the Big Ten.
00:11:59
Speaker 2: A game not many people would think of Big Ten football when you see UCLA at Oregon.
00:12:03
Speaker 3: But that's what you got. Two ranked opponents.
00:12:05
Speaker 2: Number 21 Bruins on the road to face the Ducks ranked 13th. Oregon an 11.5-point favorite, 3.30 Eastern time, 2.30 Central. The old SEC-CBS game of the week time slot for these two traditional Pac-12 rivals going head-to-head in the Big Ten. Nothing says Big Ten like Oregon and UCLA. UCLA is a great run game. They play good defense with a lot of defensive playmakers. They have a mediocre passing game. Does that sound familiar to Vols fans with Nico? Sounds like 2024 all over again with Dylan Sampson. Really good run game, great defense that turns people over, pedestrian passing attack. That was Nico at Tennessee in 2024. Bob Chesney at UCLA is recreating that right now at UCLA, and they're having a ton of success doing it. Also, they've got two really good running backs, Wayne Knight and Anthony Woods. They're averaging 8.4 yards per carry out of the backfield for UCLA. Now, they finally get tested. They had the 54-3 win at Maryland. They had a nice win over Cal. They haven't truly been tested yet this year. They're going to get tested at Oregon, but Dylan Rayola is going to be the one doing the testing. So Dante Moore out, backup quarterback, former Nebraska starter who looked good in relief against USC for Oregon. He's going to get the start for the Ducks in this one. Again, Oregon an 11.5 point favorite.
00:13:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gone up to 12.5 right now at Hard Rock Bet. I'm looking at it right now. Can UCLA get a spark on special teams? Can they get a return? Can they get a block punt? Something. And if they do, they can win this game outright. But I would just take the points. I think this is a tight game. I think UCLA plays well.
00:13:42
Speaker 2: Game number two. Good week for the Big Ten. Let's stay in the Big Ten. Number seven, Indiana. A 7.5 point road favorite in Lincoln to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. 12 p.m. Eastern, 11 a.m. Central on Fox. Big noon kickoff game. The Huskers have not beaten a top ten opponent since a 39-38 win over Michigan State in 2015. Josh Hoover for Indiana. 71% completion rate this year. Again, Indiana not truly tested yet this season. They played that miserable non-conference schedule that now the Big Ten... is trying to change and make their teams do what the SEC is doing and play somebody in the non-conference. Nebraska, they haven't played anybody yet either. I don't think they've played a top 50 opponent based on FPI yet, but they have exceeded expectations in every game. Anthony Calandria, the transfer from UNLV, the quarterback, he's been terrific running and throwing. First big test for the Cornhuskers. You could argue first true test for Indiana also in this one, Hud.
00:14:42
Speaker 1: Seven and a half is the spread. This feels like one of those Matt Rule measuring stick games to me. It's been, what, four years now? They've become part of the talk of the conversation if they win, and all of a sudden we start talking Indiana on a national scale based on a great performance here because we haven't talked about them. We've talked about Indiana as much as we've talked about Georgia, and neither have been having conversations. Both are on the big stage this week.
00:15:09
Speaker 2: Well, and look, Indiana's not ranked first. I think they should be ranked higher based on their play last year and who they have on the team this year, but they're ranked seventh. I think Nebraska needs to do at least what Tennessee did against Texas and have a shot in the fourth quarter, right? Like to prove that, hey, this team is better. then pass Nebraska teams, pass Matt Rule teams. I'm not asking for them to win outright in this game, but give yourself a chance in the fourth quarter where you leave the game feeling like, hey, we just went toe-to-toe with one of the better teams in the Big Ten. We're going to win a lot of football games this year doing that, and you leave the game at 5-1. I'd feel great about Nebraska this season if they're in this game in the fourth quarter.
00:15:47
Speaker 3: Show up and get blown out at home.
00:15:49
Speaker 2: By Kurt Cignetti in Indiana, which, by the way, is very possible with Cignetti and this Indiana team. Do that, and then people are going to go right back to saying, same old Huskers.
00:15:57
Speaker 3: We've seen for the last 10 to 15 years.
00:15:59
Speaker 1: Can't wait to see the atmosphere, too. It's going to be fun.
00:16:01
Speaker 3: It's going to be really cool. Speaking of atmosphere.
00:16:03
Speaker 1: Here we go.
00:16:04
Speaker 2: Number one game of the college football weekend. Number two, Georgia Bulldogs on the road, taking on the Crimson Tide of Alabama, number six. Alabama, a slight favorite of this one, one and a half points, 730 Eastern, 630 Central.
00:16:18
Speaker 3: On ABC.
00:16:19
Speaker 2: I watched the Saban documentary. He admitted he has no idea what roll tide means. He has no idea what it comes from. He thinks it's something about waves crashing in and rolling, but he doesn't really know.
00:16:29
Speaker 3: Alabama fans know what it means.
00:16:31
Speaker 2: They're going to be saying roll tide a lot leading up to this one, even though it's going to be rainy and storms coming through in the morning. Great atmosphere for this one. Hutton, Kirby Smart is 2-7 against Alabama. He is 112-9 against everybody else.
00:16:45
Speaker 3: Not named Alabama. How about that?
00:16:48
Speaker 2: 2-7 versus 112-9. Georgia has been a methodical machine so far this year. They're averaging winning in SEC games 41-15 so far. Speaking of machines, Keelan Russell, he's on pace for 4,000 yards passing and 800 yards rushing this season. That's like the 40-40 or 50-50 baseball version of hitting 40 home runs and stealing 40 bases. 4,000 passing yards, 800 yards rushing. He's right around the pace to do that this year. I don't think he's going to get to 4,000 yards passing, but he is a terrific player. Great offense for Alabama. I think the best in the SEC right now, Hutton. What a game we have on Saturday night.
00:17:29
Speaker 1: These games come down to the moments. Keelan Russell's right there with the Heisman if he hits the moment. Stockton, though, is the quarterback I'm taking to win the moment and make the moment. I took Georgia in my pick earlier this week. uh, for the bundle and I'm sticking with it right there. Plus one and a half.
00:17:46
Speaker 3: I love it.
00:17:48
Speaker 2: Hunting top 10 games of the college football weekend. Let's review 10 through one quickly. Game number 10, South Carolina at number 18, Florida, 1145 central time on sec network. Number nine, staying in the sec number nine, old miss at Vanderbilt game. Number eight, let's go to the big 10 number 20, Iowa going to Seattle, to take on the Washington Huskies, number seven. Number 19, USC on the road in the whiteout game against Penn State. Back to the SEC, Texas A & M at number 14, Missouri. Noon Eastern time on ABC, game number five is number one, Texas Longhorns taking on Oklahoma, number four. Number 10, LSU on the road to face Kentucky. Game number three, back to the Big Ten, number 21, UCLA at number 13, Oregon. Number two game of the week is number seven, Indiana in the big noon kickoff game on Fox. in Lincoln to take on Nebraska. And number one game of the week, it's a no-doubter, number two Georgia at number six Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
00:18:45
Speaker 3: Hutton, I cannot wait.
00:18:47
Speaker 2: We have delayed our trip to the beach because of the storm coming to the Gulf. I will not leave until early, early Sunday morning. So I, Chad Withrow, will finally have a day, first time since week one, to plant myself On the couch, which is close to me right now, and watch college football start to finish on a Saturday.
00:19:06
Speaker 3: I am pumped. Cannot wait.
00:19:08
Speaker 1: Chad will have two Father's Day this year, not just one.
00:19:10
Speaker 3: Yes.
00:19:10
Speaker 1: I love it.
00:19:11
Speaker 2: I will be smoking no meat. I will be doing no work. I will be watching football. Food will be delivered to me. And this is going to be a glorious Saturday. No softball tournaments. Well, Evie does have a practice in the morning, but we'll figure that out. But I will be there for a morning with the pregame shows through all the games.
00:19:28
Speaker 3: I cannot wait for this Saturday.
00:19:29
Speaker 1: We'll learn there. There's Chad Withers. Well done, Chad. The top 10 games of the college football weekend. Coming up over the next 35 minutes, Major League Baseball and a possible schedule change. They're discussing something there. The SEC. We're going to give our SEC picks. Profit Like It's Hot and more all straight ahead here on Hunting With Row. Good morning to you. Hunting With Row presented by Hard Rock Bed. If you need a kick in the butt this morning to get going, Chad's got it right in front of him. Crockett Coffee. Crockett Coffee started by Clay Travis, Buck Sexton, and Buck's brother Mason. 00:20:47
Speaker 3: Good coffee, made in America, doing some good. CrockettCoffee.com.
00:20:50
Speaker 2: That's Crockett, C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T-Coffee.com. I've got my cup here. I'm excited for the rest of the show, for the rest of the day. Thanks for Crockett Coffee.
00:21:01
Speaker 1: Got my water. I need to get some Crockett Coffee. I've got to get the K-Cups going. Do you have the K-Cups or do you have just the grounds?
00:21:08
Speaker 2: I have K-cups and I have grounds being delivered because at my current consumption rate, I'm going to need pots, not cups of coffee. So yes, pots of coffee are being delivered and I set it up with a subscription.
00:21:22
Speaker 3: So it's perfect.
00:21:24
Speaker 1: Chad, Major League Baseball proposing a major structural change starting to the 2029 season. No coincidence that they're putting this out there right before a labor discussion, right?
00:21:36
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:21:36
Speaker 1: They're shrinking the regular season to 154 games, and they have an expanding of the division series to a best-of-seven format. So you have the shorter season, weekly off days, no salary reductions, expanded division series, postseason off days, split doubleheaders. Each team's going to play four split doubleheaders against division opponents. They're making it to where it appears, as a shorter season... Less games, same money, trying their best. I like the schedule reduction, and I like the seven-game series. I don't love the schedule reduction. I kind of like the 162, but I don't hate it either.
00:22:16
Speaker 2: And I think the tradeoff of getting the different playoff structure is worth it. So I don't have any big objections to this. This is one of the rare things where they're changing fundamentally something about the sport and the schedule system that I don't have a strong opinion towards, other than to say I think it's fine.
00:22:33
Speaker 3: And this is, yes, this is.
00:22:35
Speaker 2: Part of the negotiation with the Players Association to avoid a lockout next year. This would go into effect, as you mentioned, in 2029. 154-game regular season. Division Series best-of-seven format. Here's the one part of this that I would change, and this was my big complaint going with the Braves as a division champ hosting the Phillies.
00:22:55
Speaker 3: Five-game series.
00:22:57
Speaker 2: If they make this, and it doesn't specify what that wild card would be, but it doesn't specify a change. which makes me think they're still thinking three-game series. Start that wildcard round. I prefer that all division champs advance a division series regardless, but if you're going to keep that format where the third-place division champ has to play a wildcard round, make that a best-of-five series. That would be my one ask, especially when you shorten the regular season. You can do it from a scheduling perspective. I know they're adding best-of-seven with the other series, the division series too, but I would like to make that wildcard round a best-of-five series. I just don't feel like a schedule that has 162 or 154 games warrants playing a situation where you could be done in two days. If you survived that entire season and made the playoffs, that's a big accomplishment. Your season should be decided in at least a best-of-five series. That's my personal take on it. I hope they move that. Here's something I love about it, Hunt, and I wish more sports would do. The highest seed can pick their opponent. So if you are that division champion playing in the wildcard, you get to decide from the wildcard teams who you play. It's not going to be a number structure. So you can pick based on matchup. You can pick based on who you perform well. in the regular season. It adds a bulletin board material type thing.
00:24:15
Speaker 1: Yes, it does.
00:24:16
Speaker 2: This is like intentionally walking someone to get someone else, and the batter who's on deck is thinking, oh, okay, I see you. You want to play us in the first round, huh? Well, we're going to show you. I love it. I wish the NBA would do this if you're the number one seed. You get to pick amongst the bottom seeds who you get to play. You don't have to automatically play the eight seed or whoever it is. I think this is something that could be used in all sports.
00:24:37
Speaker 1: The NBA, I think would be more of a bulletin board material because in my mind, just initially thinking about it, I'm see if you agree in major league baseball or in baseball in general, I would just be picking based on the pitching situation coming into the, to the, to the series, or if you're for, for, to pick your wildcard opponent, I'm just going based on pitching matchup. That's, that's solely what I'm basing that on. I've just initial thought and NBA, it's like, who do you want to avoid team to team? Do you agree with that?
00:25:05
Speaker 2: Oh, look, I think whatever the reason is, it just makes for a compelling celebration.
00:25:09
Speaker 1: Oh, it's great. I like the idea.
00:25:10
Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know how you decide it. Every team would have a different reason as to why they pick a team. It gets based on matchup or history or whatever it is. Or you just don't want to play a division opponent. Would the Braves have decided to play the Phillies or the Padres.
00:25:26
Speaker 3: In the first round? Or the Cubs in the first round? If you get your pick.
00:25:31
Speaker 2: As that division champion, I think they'd probably play the Cubs if they had their pick of three.
00:25:35
Speaker 3: They never beat the Padres.
00:25:37
Speaker 2: They just faced off against the Phillies in an important series to win the division. I think they'd probably pick the Chicago Cubs to play. But having that ability to pick would be awesome across all sports. Imagine the college football playoff with those top four seeds in order after the first round is decided.
00:25:53
Speaker 3: You get to pick.
00:25:54
Speaker 2: It's not just highest seed goes here and this winner goes there or you reshuffle the deck based on seed. You could go and say, well, I want that group of five team or whoever it is, right? I definitely want them if they won regardless of what the number next to them shows. Let's do this in all sports. I think that's one area where Major League Baseball crushed it and truly got it right with this format. I don't love the 154 games, but it's also fine with me because you get a better playoff format.
00:26:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think instead of expanding the early series to where it's a three, I think what they're doing is just giving more off days during the season and during the postseason, like adding rest days before non-guaranteed games. So if game's five, six, and seven, they're adding rest days before. And during the season, it sounds like they're guaranteeing most weeks typically a Monday day off, a scheduled day off per week, except for holidays or special events.
00:26:50
Speaker 2: It would be a mandatory day off each week for every team. That's how they'd work it in the schedule, with those eight less games. So you wouldn't have the weeks where you have no game off. Every week, one day, you'd be off.
00:27:03
Speaker 1: What do they mean by split doubleheaders? Each team will play four split doubleheaders? It's like a morning night. Or, like, it's not back-to-back doubleheaders? Oh, to save a day?
00:27:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, so, like, you'd play, like, an 11 a.m. game followed by a 7 p.m.
00:27:19
Speaker 1: Game. Okay, yeah.
00:27:20
Speaker 3: Instead of going true doubleheader back-to-back.
00:27:23
Speaker 1: Okay, I got you. Right now, the All-Star game is scheduled for Wrigley Field next season. Hopefully, we'd make it there. I'm very pessimistic about actually having much of a season next year based on what we're hearing.
00:27:37
Speaker 3: Well.
00:27:38
Speaker 2: And if we don't have a season next year, let's make the 2028 season the Wrigley Field season.
00:27:43
Speaker 3: I hope so.
00:27:44
Speaker 2: I just want to see an all-star game at Wrigley Field. So let's do it there the next year, if not.
00:27:48
Speaker 1: July 12th and 13th. Let's go through the SEC schedule for tomorrow, shall we? We discussed that. We just pick our game. Of course, we're going to preview Georgia and Alabama much more. Straight ahead here on Hunting with Roe. XXXY Athletics, founded by Jennifer Say, former national champion gymnast, former Levi's brand president. She walked away from a corporate job rather than to say something she didn't believe and started XXXY Athletics instead. The mission, in their words, power female athletes to take a stand for fair competition. And they call it the T that launched a movement. This is real athletic apparel. It's the official place to get Nashville Balls gear, Chad.
00:28:24
Speaker 2: And it's the crew making the official gear. Also, T's trucker hats out now. If you want the Nashville Balls shirt that you saw Clay and Enos Cantor wearing, that's where you get it. New customers get 20% off your first order when you sign up and free shipping over $ 100.
00:28:37
Speaker 3: XXXYAthletics.com. That's XX-XYAthletics.com.
00:28:43
Speaker 1: Chad, do you want to start with the game, Georgia and Alabama, or do you want to start just going through our picks for the SEC?
00:28:50
Speaker 3: Dealer's choice. However you want to lay it out, we'll discuss.
00:28:53
Speaker 1: Let's start with the game.
00:28:55
Speaker 3: Okay.
00:28:56
Speaker 1: I'm thinking about the impact of this matchup. And, you know, weather a play factor, wind plays a factor, all that. But I can't get away from the idea that Gunnar Stockton doesn't play well. Like in the big, the game comes down to five, six big, big moments, big plays. And while we've seen in the past, one team get up big, one team come back. This just has an impact moment for the entire college football season across the nation to me. We learn a lot about both teams, but we learn a lot about Keelan Russell, because I have full confidence that the veteran quarterback shows up and plays well.
00:29:35
Speaker 3: Do you? I do not.
00:29:38
Speaker 2: I do not have full confidence in Alabama. Georgia is my preseason pick to win the SEC. I think it's going to be a great football game, but I like Georgia to go in and win on the money line in this game. And if I'm betting, I'm going under. I think the under and I think Georgia money line would be my play in this game.
00:29:56
Speaker 1: Let me We'll see where the over-under is right now in total points.
00:29:59
Speaker 3: 51.5 is what I'm seeing. Okay.
00:30:02
Speaker 1: So, again, they're thinking that Ray doesn't play a huge factor in that at all.
00:30:08
Speaker 2: And I think defense plays a huge factor in this game for Georgia that will slow down Alabama somewhat. They're going to get theirs at some point, but I think the under barely hits, but I like Georgia on the money line.
00:30:19
Speaker 1: Do you think that Bama has a Mississippi State-type moment? Not necessarily this game, but they have a game where– the quarterback doesn't play great and has a turnover fest?
00:30:31
Speaker 3: Against their defense, you're saying?
00:30:32
Speaker 1: Yes.
00:30:33
Speaker 2: I don't think so with Gunnar Stockton. That moment's not happening in this game. The more likely moment would be the following week when they're playing a pair of freshman quarterbacks in Knoxville, that that moment could happen on the opposite side for Tennessee. But I don't think Gunnar Stockton, with all that experience, I don't think it's happening this week.
00:30:50
Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm going to say just from Russell's perspective, too. No.
00:30:54
Speaker 2: No.
00:30:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
00:30:56
Speaker 3: I think he's fine.
00:30:57
Speaker 1: Let's look at the pack of SEC matchups across the board. You really like Texas A & M.
00:31:04
Speaker 2: I do. Texas A & M at Missouri. I like Texas A & M Moneyline to make it happen. So give me the Aggies to go into Columbia. They're a three-and-a-half-point underdog, but I think they found a little bit of themselves against Arkansas. I know Arkansas is pretty bad, and they played them at home, but 31-7 win. Got them going enough. Got their confidence up a bit. I like them to go on the road. And that SEC media darling syndrome strikes again where Missouri loses a home game after the big win over Florida.
00:31:31
Speaker 1: A week ago. I trust A & M more than I should, and I don't like Missouri, and I should like them more, I think is my problem here. Maybe it is the home field that really bugs me the most here, and I like Missouri more on the road. But, Chad, I'm with you. I just took the points in this with A & M because I need them to prove it again to me. But I overvalued them preseason, and I think they're undervalued right now on the board. I took the points here, and it's just three and a half. And I think that tells you something about both A & M and Missouri and the fact that they're coming off the big win that they had. Florida, to me, the fact that they're coming off a loss, South Carolina, the way they've dropped these games, this is the death march more than it is the rebound. And I really like Shane Beamer. The schedule here does not work out. If Florida had won last week and South Carolina wants to come in and play the big upset, that's fine. But I think the fact that they're coming off of the loss, they're looking to make a statement.
00:32:33
Speaker 2: I'm fading you on a number of picks here this week, Hudson, in the SEC. I think South Carolina covers the 11.5 or 12 points. It's been going kind of back and forth on this. Dylan Stewart returning, I think he's going to have a big game. I do, even with all the stuff going on. I think he's going to play well off the edge. I like South Carolina's running game to control the clock a little bit with Lenora Sellers running it also. I think Florida wins. I think it's a very close game. And Florida squeaks one out of this one.
00:33:01
Speaker 1: I don't know. Dylan Stewart returning is a sign of desperation to me. They've got to have him. They have to have all of the elite players on the field. And I think if this were any other situation, maybe he waits another game based on the way Beamer was reacting yesterday. a week ago compared to now. And he's not pointing to great practices anymore, but the fact that he was means he's out of all the accolades he can throw out there to try to keep his team together. His team gets down, and I don't think they rebound very well, unfortunately. Texas, Oklahoma. Oklahoma, to me, malaise. I would say when it comes to the Sooners, my view on them is very lethargic, if that makes sense. Good, not great. Give me Texas to cover. It's my lock of the week. 7.5 is where it dropped. You had it at 8.5. We're allowing the 7.5, though, when it comes to your pick, though, on the bundle. If they win by 8, we're counting it. If Texas wins by 8, we're counting it. This is my leg of the parlay for going for the bundle this week. We're both aligned here, Texas. I think Texas wins by 10-plus points in this game. I think it's going to be very ugly.
00:34:05
Speaker 2: I think the defenses both will look good in this game, but I like Texas to win by double digits.
00:34:10
Speaker 1: There's a... There's a game coming up that Vanderbilt wins. I really wanted to say it's this week. I don't feel that way, though. I do think they cover this game, though, against Ole Miss.
00:34:23
Speaker 2: I would like to cover, too. Could be rainy conditions during that game also in Nashville. That might help Vanderbilt a little bit in this one. Ole Miss is coming off a bye week after that loss to Florida. They've had two weeks to get ready for this one. I like the Rebels. I'm going to say Vandy covers. but I don't love that pick. If I'm doing a confidence meter of picks, I'm not fully confident that they cover in this game, but I will take Vandy to cover the 9.5 or 8.5 as it stands.
00:34:54
Speaker 3: Right now, but Ole Miss is going to win this game.
00:34:56
Speaker 1: I think offensively Tennessee plays it very conservative with the quarterback. I think they cover late, though, against Arkansas down at Fayetteville.
00:35:06
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been a house of horrors for Tennessee.
00:35:08
Speaker 2: They've found weird ways to lose, including 20-24, where they were in complete control of that game and lost it late against Arkansas with Nico and that team that eventually went on to the college football playoff. And that was one of their two losses was at Arkansas. This Arkansas team, outside of Chris Marshall, who's a very good receiver and is going to be a handful for Tennessee and everyone else, that's all they have right now.
00:35:31
Speaker 3: Defense, not good.
00:35:32
Speaker 2: They can't run the ball. Casey Jackson has not been a great passer. He's not really been electric running it either when he does that. I think Tennessee is going to take a business-like, methodical approach in this game. It's going to be ugly. It's going to be slow at times. But I think the Vols cover that 13.5 on the road and handle business.
00:35:53
Speaker 1: Final game, LSU at Kentucky. I stayed away from the line because I want to know what Vegas knows. It hasn't moved all week. 8.5 is the spread on the road for the Tigers. If Kiffin loses this game, Chad... He deserves the heat because this is one you're supposed to win for LSU. Kentucky ends up being your example of Oklahoma from last year.
00:36:13
Speaker 3: Could be. I mean, you're right.
00:36:15
Speaker 2: With Mississippi State looking the way they did against Alabama, maybe it is Kentucky that's the surprise team in the college football playoff mix. I think Kentucky covers. I think they're going to play well at home. They felt like they were ready against Alabama. They were for a half, and they got blown out in the second half. This is their arrival in a big home game in a big-time atmosphere. I think LSU wins a close one, and I think that Lane Kiffin will be spared all the shade and the heat that he's going to be receiving after losing that game, but Kentucky covers the 8.5 in this one.
00:36:47
Speaker 1: Maybe weather a factor there, as Chad mentioned earlier, with the wind and other factors at Kroger Field. Those are your SEC matchups for Week 7. Coming up, prop it like it's hot. Some props across... the NFL, and much more. We're confident going into the weekend here on Hunting With Row.
00:37:04
Speaker 3: This year, the party's getting even bigger.
00:37:06
Speaker 2: Hey, there's Jay Boyd.
00:37:07
Speaker 3: They know me. This party, everybody's somebody. And Hard Rock Bet has something for everyone. Plus, new customers bet $ 5 and get up to $ 500 in no sweat bets.
00:37:19
Speaker 1: I love this new promo for new customers. Bet $ 5, get up to $ 500 in no sweat bets right now. You just got to use the website. Hardrock.bet.clay. That's Hardrock.bet.clay. Chad, it is time for Profit Like It's Hot. And we've got our props of the week right here, right now. Mine, I'm going NFL. We're about to throw those up there. And I'll run through these and my thought process behind it. Trevor Lawrence, over one and a half passing touchdowns. This guy has been dealing throughout the season. And he's going against the secondary. that has not been great in giving up passing touchdowns, especially in the red zone. I like Trevor Lawrence to continue that success. Give me Nico Collins. Anytime touchdown against the Titans. It's not like they're 0-4, yes.
00:38:11
Speaker 3: But C.J.
00:38:11
Speaker 1: Stroud has been throwing for big yardage. I just I look at the Titans they've only allowed four passing touchdowns this season but I think the Texans come in looking to get right to do that they've got to go through their top receiver give me Nico Collins anytime touchdown plus 130 and Christian McCaffrey over 34 and a half passing yards out of the backfield against Seattle I think Seattle is going to sell out to stop the run McCaffrey usually gets his anyway his anytime touchdown odds are always always strong I think that utilizes him more out of the backfield here against the Seattle defense. I think he gets his on the edge, picks up some big first downs for the unbeaten 49ers.
00:38:52
Speaker 3: I like it, Hutton. I'm going to go to the NFL with my props also as we look at mine.
00:38:59
Speaker 2: I'm going to go Carnell Tate. Got it going a little bit with Cam Ward last week. He's going to get in the end zone in this game. I'm taking the Titans to win on the money line over a touchdown underdog. It is now or never for the Tennessee Titans. It is put up or shut the hell up for good. I would be fine with them never doing a press conference if it wasn't against NFL rules after they lose this game.
00:39:22
Speaker 3: They're not losing this game. They're at home.
00:39:24
Speaker 2: They're playing another 0-4 team. They are finally going to show some of the improvement they keep talking about.
00:39:30
Speaker 1: About.
00:39:30
Speaker 2: I think they win an ugly game against the Houston Texans. To do that, Carnell Tate's going to need to be big. He had a good game against Baltimore, except for the fumble. Give me Carnell Tate any time touchdown at plus 375.
00:39:42
Speaker 3: And Drake London. Greatest show on turf.
00:39:47
Speaker 2: There's a new one, the Atlanta Falcons with Michael Penix Jr. Give me over 82.5 receiving yards at minus 115. Those are my props for the week, Hutton. I like the Falcons' offense. I like the Titans to get off the schneid first before the Houston Texans and win on Sunday.
00:40:02
Speaker 1: Chad, I have jotted these down. I'm going to play these like they've already been played, just for you.
00:40:06
Speaker 2: Will you play Titans' money line the way I did? Not the props, but will you play Titans' money line?
00:40:13
Speaker 1: You know what? I'll follow you on that just because of the vibes here.
00:40:18
Speaker 3: I don't want charity. If you don't buy into it or don't believe it, you don't have to play it. You followed me in the same respect. I don't want to force you to do it.
00:40:25
Speaker 1: I'm going to roll with you on this. Roll with us. We ask everybody to roll with us. I'll do the same. I'll follow you on that. So Titans Moneyline. Writing that down. So, Chad, here's the deal with the Titans. Look, they're already preaching the whole, like, we're getting better game by game. I want consistency, all right? I want to see Cam Ward start to show consistency that's under center, behind center. Coming off of a performance which was his best of the year, it was a loss, yes. But now, okay, if this is what it is, if this is what it's going to be, if we're going to see him continue to start games, Let's start showing improvement instead of taking one step forward and, at worst, not taking another step forward but staying exactly where you are. No neutral games here. No steps back, of course. But I want to see steps forward game by game. It's October. Time to take those steps to show true improvement and the fact that you're headed from good to great. Because when they drafted him, that's exactly what they say he's going to be, an elite quarterback. He's number one overall. There's a standard that comes with that, like it or not. And it's time to show that he's taking over not just the position, but the team. Taking the ball and knowing you're going to go get points when you need them. That separates the good from great quarterbacks. The average from just a guy to the top of the line elite style that it takes to manage a team from the quarterback position. He's nowhere close to being that. But I need to show signs that he's at least improving from where he's been.
00:42:07
Speaker 3: Hutton, I'm 100% with you on this.
00:42:09
Speaker 2: It is time to stop talking about progression and improvement and show it.
00:42:13
Speaker 3: And how do you show improvement in the NFL? It's not losing close. No. It's not making the drastic mistake at the end of the game and not losing it for your team. It's not just when you don't do that.
00:42:26
Speaker 2: It's not because you scored one touchdown in the second half against Baltimore after they pulled their quarterback down. in the game because, yes, he hurt his ankle, but also he could have played if it were the Buffalo Bills or any legitimate NFL team. They pulled him because they knew they were going to win, even without Lamar Jackson in that game.
00:42:44
Speaker 3: It is embarrassing.
00:42:46
Speaker 2: It is not where anyone wants to be as an NFL team. The coaches should be embarrassed. The players should be embarrassed. How do you respond to embarrassment? How do you respond when your manhood is challenged? How do you respond when everyone around the league is laughing at you At 0-4.
00:43:00
Speaker 3: Well, you respond by winning a football game.
00:43:02
Speaker 1: Right.
00:43:03
Speaker 3: And this is an eminently winnable football game for the Tennessee Titans. The Texans have a whole batch of issues, too.
00:43:08
Speaker 2: They are on the road. They are 0-4. They have their head coach assuming play-calling duties on defense.
00:43:14
Speaker 3: Go win. Go win. Go win.
00:43:17
Speaker 2: Shut up about everything else. You're firing front office people and not speaking about it. Go start winning football games and show everyone that what you're talking about is not just lip service, that this team is actually improving, they're actually getting better, and they can actually be a force in the future.
00:43:33
Speaker 3: To do that, you've got to start winning some games.
00:43:35
Speaker 2: If they lose this hunt and go to 0-5, 0-17 is legitimately on the table.
00:43:41
Speaker 1: I'll say this to wrap up briefly. it changes the conversation at least to a win and the snowball effect that could happen. And you start talking about October instead of December. And thankfully we would be there. And it's 0-4 against 0-4. Take advantage of that instead of, you know, do what the Texans are trying to do. Get right in all of that. Chad, let's watch some good football this weekend. And safe travels. Glad you're avoiding the storms. And we'll catch up on Monday.
00:44:10
Speaker 3: I'll be talking to you from the beach on Monday, Hutton. It's going to be fun.
00:44:13
Speaker 1: Sounds good. Hey, a lot more coming all day right here on the Sports State Network. He's Withrow. I'm Hutton. This is Hutton and Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet.
