Speaker 1: If there's a company that has a sign that says they're not responsible for your windshield damage, call Clay Travis Law.
00:00:07
Speaker 2: Accidents don't wait for good timing.
00:00:08
Speaker 1: One bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a doctor who wasn't paying attention, and suddenly you're fighting an insurance company that does this every single day. That's why Clay started Clay Travis Law. He's a Vanderbilt law grab, and he built a firm focused on the details. People deserve someone by their side, willing to pay full attention, and ask the hard questions. Push back when things don't add up. You are backed by experienced trial attorneys. And they're going to bring the fight to corporations and insurers. Clay Travis Law, based in Nashville, trusted across the country.
00:00:36
Speaker 2: That's right.
00:00:36
Speaker 3: Car and truck wrecks, like we talked about. Maybe a non-secure payload on a truck could do something to your car. You need to call Clay Travis Law. Rideshare accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability, product liability. If you were wrong, they want to hear about it. Here's their promise. Honesty. They don't sugarcoat your case. You'll hear what it's actually worth, not what you want to hear. Case evaluation is free. No charge, no pressure, no hassle. Just tell them your story and go to claytravislaw.com or call them at 877-222-4444. That's claytravislaw.com. No case is too big or too small. Chad, last night, Dave Chappelle, I think it's the third time I've seen him. And the previous two times have been at the Ryman. This at the arena. I was curious on what the crowd would be like because I didn't even know he was in town until the day before.
00:01:22
Speaker 2: Did you know he was going to be in Nashville?
00:01:25
Speaker 3: No clue.
00:01:25
Speaker 2: Me too.
00:01:26
Speaker 3: I find this with a lot of acts that I'd really like to go see, and I'm like, I didn't know a thing about it. I don't know if I'm not hooked up to the right algorithm on Instagram or something about tickets, but I'm not seeing anything that's coming through town.
00:01:38
Speaker 1: I'd say he had roughly 13,000 to 14,000 there. The arena seats, what, 17? So there were some empties up top, but a solid crowd. Last night, Jeffrey Simmons and some of the Titans were next to us. in one of the boxes. Shout out to Alex Guthrie and Andy Knowles for hosting me.
00:02:01
Speaker 2: Thank you, guys. That was awesome.
00:02:03
Speaker 1: It was a show that was probably a little over an hour, but it felt like a little under an hour. It went fast. He comes out like he's got everything. He was trying to be canceled.
00:02:15
Speaker 3: Did he have an opening act at all?
00:02:17
Speaker 2: He did. He had three. Three, okay.
00:02:20
Speaker 3: Did you see all of them? Were they good?
00:02:21
Speaker 1: I came in during the first one. They were good, yeah. A variety of topics, I would say. But he comes out and goes right up to transgender, that line of topic, because that's where people tried to cancel him. Racism, Muslims, Asians. I mean, he does everybody. If you can't laugh at yourself, you're not going to like this. There were two fights in the crowd. Because I don't know why, but people were shouting. Based on topics is my guess, because he brings up Trump and Biden. He goes after it, man. He talked about a black pilot and how if you're an African-American, you think that guy's made it because he's a pilot for Southwest Airlines. He got a good laugh there. No encore last night.
00:03:18
Speaker 2: And the... Oh, so.
00:03:22
Speaker 1: The thing that is crazy is he is paranoid to a level of no one that I've ever seen in person about cell phones, about video, because he doesn't want to be on YouTube. His entire show, he doesn't want it recorded. Chad, when you go into Bridgestone Arena, there are two separate metal detectors. I guess one is just for phones. I'm not sure. But you come in and there's like a, we saw this during primary complaint, the bag that you put your phone in. You put your phone in there. And then if you have an aura ring on, if you have a Apple watch, they make you take it off and put it in there. Anything that could possibly be in control of a video camera goes into this bag. And they know you have it on, which is crazy. It is the most impressive thing I've seen. in a long time because not one time did I see anyone with a phone. They have people with binoculars around the top of the arena looking for it.
00:04:27
Speaker 3: Like when Trump was at Neyland Stadium for the Texas game and there were snipers up with binoculars the whole time? Yeah. They had people, instead of looking for guns, looking for cell phones?
00:04:36
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:04:37
Speaker 1: They have multiple people of his staff around the top of the arena looking down, just scoping it out, trying to find phones. Not one time did I see them ever get on a radio.
00:04:48
Speaker 2: Not one time.
00:04:49
Speaker 1: I don't know in this day and age how you do that, how you pull that off. He travels with, I would say, a large staff. Others have said it's not that large. But, I mean, you could tell just walking in and out who's with Bridgestone Arena and who's not. And you unlock your phone on the way out, and off you go. But people were getting really upset when they came in because they didn't know about the phone policy. And previous to this, a previous show, he comes out for an encore and he unlocks the phones. So you can videotape anything you want to, get to photos, whatever, during the encore.
00:05:23
Speaker 2: No encore last night. Just walked off the stage, straight out, on to the next one. Really, really funny. But again, you have to be able to laugh at yourself.
00:05:33
Speaker 1: There are some topics in there that will trigger you if you.
00:05:36
Speaker 2: Don't just take it as a joke.
00:05:39
Speaker 1: And Last night, there were a couple of people that weren't able to do that.
00:05:43
Speaker 2: Shouting, fighting. And it took forever. I mean, it was like he stopped the show. It was like doing play-by-play of it.
00:05:50
Speaker 3: So someone would shout something and someone would take offense in the crowd and they'd start fighting, basically?
00:05:55
Speaker 1: No, they would have their own conversation, their own argument. And then he'd stop someone fighting and then he would give play-by-play. Like, security, security, you know, and joking about it. And then he's up here in section whatever. And then he tried to guess the race is what he was trying to do during the fight. But yeah, it's Chappelle. He's trying to go for that. And he got a couple of people on it. And it was on the transgender and on the Trump jokes he was making. Oh, Epstein files. He went hard on that with Trump. And that's when the fights broke out.
00:06:36
Speaker 3: Oh, okay. Yeah. I got you. That's a very sensitive topic, I feel like, on all sides for people being accused of different things with that. I'm amazed at his ability to control the whole cell phone thing. I totally understand why you do it. It's really twofold. One is obviously to protect the lucrative deal he has with Netflix for the specials that he produces for them. You don't want all that stuff on film getting out there before you release your special because they're paying you for the exclusive rights. To that special. So that protects Netflix and it protects him to continue to get a ton of money from Netflix.
00:07:11
Speaker 1: And his arena shows. He doesn't want to have people see his stand-up. Yeah, before they go. Previous to go because they won't go.
00:07:19
Speaker 2: They won't buy tickets.
00:07:20
Speaker 3: It's also a way of protecting you, the person who pays for the ticket, and that it's not all going to be spoiled by someone else when you go to Instagram. And you're going to see footage of it because when he goes to Lexington, Kentucky or Detroit, Michigan or wherever next... then you're going to be able to get a special experience that you don't know what's happening and what he's going to say. So I do appreciate that part of it with him. I also think that just if you're a stand-up comic, no one wants somebody with their phone up the whole time filming you because you're trying to get an in-person reaction, a visceral response. That visceral response could be two people fighting in the crowd. It's usually, I want uproarious laughter. at the punchline that I know I'm building up to and trying to get to. But you have to have that immediacy. We've talked to Nate Bargatze about that. You know, Nate Bargatze came on with us during COVID to do shows for like 25, 30 people that were listeners of the show as a special guest because he couldn't get in front of people to test material. So he would test some of his material with a 30-person Zoom room that we were on because you've got to get that immediate response and see what's working and see what's not. And that's what stand-up comics live for, is that response from a live audience from it. You don't get that as much if someone's got a cell phone sticking up in the air the whole time. So I have no issues with that, with Dave Chappelle and why he's doing it.
00:08:43
Speaker 2: I just don't. And it's a weird feeling not having your phone on you. It is.
00:08:48
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:08:48
Speaker 1: Even for that short amount of time. Like, there were a couple times where I was reaching for the phone to do something.
00:08:52
Speaker 2: But it's just out of habit. And you.
00:08:56
Speaker 1: It made me think about how much I'm connected to that device.
00:09:01
Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Masters is that way, too. When we went there for the whole day, you check your pocket and it's like, oh, yeah, I left it back where I'm staying.
00:09:09
Speaker 1: Staff for the arena also had turned in their phones.
00:09:15
Speaker 2: I couldn't connect with Reno, for instance.
00:09:16
Speaker 3: We heard from Jacob Lutz about other things staff from the arena had to do that we can't talk about on air.
00:09:21
Speaker 2: I bet he smoked a pack of cigarettes up there.
00:09:23
Speaker 3: Oh, I bet.
00:09:24
Speaker 1: I mean, just constantly. Speaking of big responses. He works at a prop, too, by the way. It's a really good job by him to work it as a prop.
00:09:33
Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
00:09:33
Speaker 3: He's he's very, very good at it. Speaking of other big reactions to stand up comics. Yeah. Have you seen all the controversy around Shane Gillis and his monologue on SNL?
00:09:44
Speaker 2: Well, that's an else if yes.
00:09:45
Speaker 3: Which, by the way, Tyre season three does a whole episode, a half an episode on this bit that he does. Basically, he's talking about how women dress like whores at the gym and we're not supposed to look at. it or we're being offensive to them and how it's like what are you training for the whore olympics or something he's saying you know when you're at the gym um and women got very very upset about this i saw dana carvey he's one of my favorites on his fly on the wall podcast with dana car with david spade say i just took it as you know a joke Like everything else, he's not saying all women are whores. It's a joke about the appearance of women in the gym. But there's a whole bit in an episode of Tires where he's caught looking at a girl doing squats and the short tight shorts. And then the guy's filming him staring at the girl doing it. And they're surprising them and interviewing him. on camera and he has like a heart attack, a panic attack. He's getting interviewed about it at the gym, which is very, very funny. I think Shane Gillis is funny. I also know that Lorne Michaels loves to stick it to management by bringing back people that he was forced to fire. He did not want to fire Shane Gillis when he was initially hired at SNL because they went back and found some old footage of of him saying some racially insensitive things on one of his sketch comedy shows. The network forced to fire him. The moment he could get him back to host, he's done it. I think Gillis has hosted three times now, and each time has been good episodes. I don't even watch SNL this year, but I've seen a couple of the skits. And it's really, really funny. I didn't even see his monologue, but I've read all about it. The other one was Norm MacDonald. You know, Norm MacDonald, he forced the fire. The moment he could bring him back the next season, he did it as a host because he likes to stick it to management. Also, the first thing I thought of was, this is great for SNL. Because I haven't heard about that show in a long time.
00:11:40
Speaker 1: You and I used to always break down the shows. This is what gets the buzz going. It's just the monologue from him. It sounds weird, but they have to be thrilled with this. They do. Because they're getting discussed unlike any show that they've had previously.
00:11:59
Speaker 2: Unless it's Chappelle.
00:12:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's Chappelle. Now it's like the risque stand-up comic. Chappelle... Shane Gillis, when Louis C.K. would host even before he got canceled, was another one that would get a lot of talking. It's anybody that grabs the mic during the opening monologue, they're going to go do their stand-up routine. But, I mean, there are former women that worked at SNL that are all up in arms about what Shane Gillis said. And, I mean, come on. It's a joke. You're not saying– people have to have a better understanding of Of what exactly is being said. And if you want to come back and make fun of Shane Gillis, you can. That's your right, you know, as a comedian. Or if you're going to joke, you can joke about him now, too.
00:12:46
Speaker 1: Chappelle made a joke about him last night. He said, how many whites do we have in here? How many Shane Gillis fans.
00:12:50
Speaker 2: Do we have?
00:12:51
Speaker 3: That's funny.
00:12:54
Speaker 2: I love that.
00:12:55
Speaker 1: Coming up, we had 101,000 plus at Neyland Stadium and set a record. We discussed just how loud it was. And what it means for home field advantage.
00:13:07
Speaker 2: Straight ahead.
00:13:08

00:14:12
Speaker 2: So it was loud at Neyland Stadium.
00:14:14
Speaker 3: No doubt.
00:14:15
Speaker 2: Pretty loud.
00:14:16
Speaker 1: And so loud that they've set a new decibel reading record. They've done this several times where they've gone above 120. Like a lot of times. But look at this. 105 unique events over 120.
00:14:29
Speaker 2: Wow.
00:14:32
Speaker 1: And they got as high as we've ever seen, Chad, at a stadium for college football.
00:14:37
Speaker 2: The loudest.
00:14:37
Speaker 3: 130.3 decibels. I'm always a little bit skeptical of the science involved with this, of just how loud it gets. And we can say this from first-hand experience, it was incredibly loud.
00:14:49
Speaker 2: It was.
00:14:50
Speaker 3: On every third down, especially when Alabama first got the ball, it was incredibly loud. The moment where that happened was third quarter. Tennessee just got a sack on second down. They're up 19-10 trying to get the ball back, and then they play spooky Rocky Top, and it just happened to coincide with that video from ABC of Kalen DeBoer having a breakdown on his face as it's happening. That was the loudest moment of the game. That was the moment where they hit 130.3 decibels. I keep thinking that Neyland Stadium is going to have some sort of drop-off or some level of complacency after big games are played there time and time again. I'm amazed that there is no drop-off. Danny White, he gets criticized about trying to build a hotel and being the bean counter and all of that, but whatever he has done has worked because when Tennessee gets a big game in a big environment on big-time television in a big-time slot, that stadium delivers time and time again. I remember a game that wasn't even thought of as that big of a game, the game against Auburn, was shockingly very loud in that second half when Tennessee made their comeback and took the lead. So Neyland Stadium delivers, man. I don't know how else to say it. Everybody's praised the environment and the atmosphere all week. We're not really going to add much to that other than to say Hutton. Every time I keep thinking there's going to be some apathy or some complacency with the crowd, it's not going to be quite as loud. It keeps getting better and better year after year.
00:16:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, and the loudest I would say I've witnessed personally would have been Texas A & M where we were there for the Alabama game. It's funny what the noise that Alabama will bring out. The other stadiums, though, Husky Stadium for Washington. Tennessee's going to be in Williams-Brice Stadium this week. That's a loud stadium, which is based on how it's built. Tiger Stadium, Death Valley, of course. I've never been there, though. Clemson, apparently, is really loud. Never been there. But it's Kyle Field, and now it's Tennessee. I think the good... They were really, really motivated to keep the intensity up throughout.
00:17:01
Speaker 2: The entire game. Unlike I've seen at Neyland, honestly.
00:17:04
Speaker 3: And the better the sound systems are now, and everybody's got a really high-level sound system, I feel like, in-house in stadiums. helps add the noise because you can actually hear, you know, spooky Rocky top and it cues the crowd and you hear the defense music coming on the field and before kickoff, you hear that cue. South Carolina is very good at that with that rooster, you know, Gamecock crowing they have on defense and they, they come out to 2001 a space odyssey and it's super loud when they do that. When I was in school, they're hunting the loudest moment I can remember at Tennessee 2001 against Georgia and Tennessee had trailed the whole game, and Travis Stevens caught that screen pass, and it was this steady build. It wasn't one pop, but you saw offensive linemen out in front, a wall of blockers in front of him. He's running on the sideline for that long touchdown to take the lead with under two minutes left, and that was as loud as I can remember being in that stadium at that point. They end up losing that game, of course, the Hobnell boot game after that. 2022, when the kick goes through, was the pop and loud of Tennessee winning 52-49 against Alabama, another one I can remember. But the fact that it's that moment against Alabama in that spot, going for a third straight win at Neyland Stadium, it's just crazy to me that The game day environment continues to improve. We didn't have a sound system when I was in school. You couldn't hear the guy on the speaker saying anything because it was so quiet in the stadium. Now you hear everything. You can hear the PA announcer saying touchdown Tennessee the moment Deshaun Bishop gets in the end zone. It's all gotten better from a technology standpoint and I just think the whole experience has gotten better and better. The Knoxville experience has gotten better and better.
00:18:46
Speaker 2: It has.
00:18:46
Speaker 3: I'm not going to sit around and be like, boy, it was so much better when I was in school. No, it wasn't. In the early 2000s, it was not better than it is right now. I'll be the first to admit. Everything is cleaner. There are nicer places to go. The tailgating around the stadium is better than it was then. I mean, we can be nostalgic about the way it was. But to argue that it was better than it was now, it's not. I think so much of what goes on on game day and in the stadium, far superior to what it was 15, 20 years ago.
00:19:15
Speaker 2: Personally, the spooky Rocky top needs to tone down a bit. Don't use it as much.
00:19:21
Speaker 3: It needs to be more of a special entry.
00:19:23
Speaker 2: The third down for what? That stuff.
00:19:25
Speaker 1: That's just every single third down. Do something else, please. Because it gets to a point where it's just so repetitive, it's annoying.
00:19:34
Speaker 2: It's fine.
00:19:35
Speaker 1: When I first hear it, it's fine. But man, do they play that thing a lot.
00:19:41
Speaker 3: I'm okay with it if you use it for just like a couple games. You know, and it's got to be around Halloween. So third Saturday in October through the Kentucky game. you can use it repetitively for third downs for the Spooky Rockies up. But if we start hearing that against Furman in the opener, then yeah, we've officially jumped the shark on Spooky Rockies up. So I don't think we're there yet. But you've got to be selective about what games you use it. If you're going to use it in a game, you might as well use it freely. If the game's going well and it's close or competitive or you're winning and it seems to be getting the crowd hype on third down, then keep going to it. But don't extend it past a couple of games. So now I think you've got a two-game window. You just played it. You can play it on November 7th against Kentucky. That's it. That point on, I don't want to hear it in late November against LSU. I don't want to hear it again this season.
00:20:35
Speaker 1: Kalen DeVore is certainly hearing it still. It's still ringing in his head. There's no doubt about that. Coming up, college basketball and the AP Top 25. Chad, you watched a little hoops last night, I believe. We'll get into that as well.
00:20:50
Speaker 3: I watched a very small amount of hoops because when I tuned in, Tennessee was down 38 points with about 10 minutes left in the game to Duke. And I'm looking at the court and I'm like, why are these guys playing? Oh, I don't know any of these players because everybody on the team is completely new for Tennessee. So we'll discuss.
00:21:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's coming up on Hot and Wet Throw presented by Hard Rock Bet. About to talk some hoops, college basketball. Speaking of that, Nashville balls as well. You can get the official gear with XXXY Athletics. Founded by Jennifer Say, former national champion gymnast, former Levi's brand president. And she walked away from the corporate job rather than saying something that she didn't believe. And she started XXXY Athletics instead. It's not just a slogan on a shirt, Jeff.
00:21:38

00:21:52
Speaker 2: Chad, you watched a little bit of Tennessee last night.
00:21:56
Speaker 1: What do you make of the college basketball AP Top 25 and where they have some of these teams ranked based on expectation?
00:22:05
Speaker 3: I make very little of it right now, to be totally honest. First off, no one knows a thing other than transfer portal rankings, recruiting rankings, who's coming back on. There's just so many unknowns about it all right now that I don't make much of anything of this. I'll say I watched Duke last night, and they looked great in just pounding Tennessee. So did Tennessee not.
00:22:26
Speaker 2: Play their starters, or what happened here?
00:22:28
Speaker 3: Tennessee right now is not the eighth-ranked team in the country. Let me first say that. I also think looking in-state, Vanderbilt is way too low. I think they're going to be really good with Tyler Tanner. Tyler Tanner is preseason SEC player of the year, possibly. They're going to be a very good team. They're closer to top ten overall. than they are back end of top 25. SEC is going to be very good again. I think Tennessee's got a chance to be very good as they round into form. What happened last night was Terrence Hill Jr., who's their top playmaker and point guard, went down four minutes into the game with an ankle injury. Rumor is he's going to be out four to eight weeks with a severe ankle sprain. He was on crutches when he came back to the bench. Troy Henderson, his backup, went down with an ankle injury last night. So they had Marquise Clark, who's not supposed to play this year, supposed to redshirt, playing the entire game at point guard against Duke on the road. Tyler Lundblad, who's one of their biggest, if not their biggest, transfer from Belmont. He was the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year. He shot like 47% from three. He's yet to play. He had off-season back surgery. He should be back for the season opener against Wofford on November 3rd, but Tennessee was down a number of guys, but don't excuse the fact that they weren't competitive in that game. But Rick Barnes said it before the game. He said, I would rather get exposed than win an exhibition game. Because to get the lesson across to these guys, he said, I still like this team, but they need to get hammered. And they did against Xavier in the second half. They led at halftime. They ended up losing by 16 at home to Xavier. Then they get destroyed on the road by Duke. So he's trying to get their attention back. about how to play together as a team. But it's all new guys. They've got to define their roles. They've got to learn how to play with each other. They're completely disconnected right now. I don't make much of it. Now, if you get into late November, early December, and this team hasn't improved at all with their tough non-conference schedule, then you've got big issues coming up. If they lose to Wofford in the first game, because the team that took the court against Duke will lose to Wofford in game number one in Knoxville, then I would start to be concerned and sound the alarm bells. Not overly concerned right now. But Hutton, Florida at number one, Duke number two, Illinois number three, UConn number four, Arizona number five. UConn played Michigan State, who's the sixth-ranked team, on the road in an exhibition and won. And Danny Hurley had an all-time quote postgame about not being thrilled with his team's performance, but who cares because it's an exhibition. Anyway, that's what we've got right now. Call me back in mid to late December, and I'll be way more interested. in college basketball, but it's, it's just tough to get excited about college basketball in October.
00:25:07
Speaker 2: Totally agree. Um, I will say though, Illinois is playing North Carolina here coming up.
00:25:13
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:25:13
Speaker 2: At the corner. That, that's cool.
00:25:15
Speaker 1: Like I'm thinking about the dome that's about to open next spring. That could be a great spot for a, a regular season tournament to open, to open things. If you want, uh, just the, the main hub of easy access to Nashville flights, all that stuff. I mean, uh, it's, It's getting that at the arena. What if you brought in a ton of, I say a ton, like, I don't know, eight teams and just had the round robin on ESPN?
00:25:40
Speaker 2: I would attend that. That would be cool.
00:25:43
Speaker 3: Well, and it's just all these teams play each other now. All the top teams.
00:25:47
Speaker 2: I know, it's great.
00:25:47
Speaker 3: I mean, once you get into that club of– and Tennessee's there in that club now because they've gone to three straight Elite Eights and they're top 15 every year preseason. Once you get into that club of, boy, if we schedule this team, it's not going to hurt us. It can only help us if we win. Right. Like you want to play those teams that are going to give you a huge challenge. And if you can get a couple of big wins with that, it's only going to help your NCAA tournament seed at the end of the year. So all these teams play each other almost in a round robin at this point. So we're going to get some big time early season college basketball coming up in November. I just let's get to November and start to look out at some big matchups when they happen and what those games look like. Tough to take a lot of stock into what's happening right now in exhibition season.
00:26:29
Speaker 2: Like the NBA opening last night.
00:26:31
Speaker 3: I did watch a lot of the Sixers' Knicks, shockingly. Yeah, it was a good game. LeBron James had 12 points. Didn't really do much, but he was interviewed post-game. He's kind of funny. They're like, what about you with this new team? What's your perspective? He's like, about me? He kind of jacked surprise. He's like, I mean, I'm not very good right now, but I thought it was a good game, intense, and good to come out of here with a win. I thought he was pretty funny about how he talked about his own play, but I mean... Looking at LeBron James looking like Robert Parrish at his age at this point in the league is just fascinating to me. I'll be following that Philly story throughout the year with LeBron and Jalen Brown and Joel Embiid and how those guys mesh because that's a pretty cool– just like New York was a cool story winning the title, I think the Philadelphia 76ers will be the story this year of can they get over the hump and win that title, which has been many years for them.
00:27:30
Speaker 2: Chad, of course, this man's name ends with a Y. His name's Terry.
00:27:34
Speaker 1: 64-year-old Richmond man is facing serious legal consequences after he reportedly bound his wife to a chair with tape and left her in the basement so he could watch a football game upstairs without interruption.
00:27:46
Speaker 2: Look at this dude.
00:27:49
Speaker 3: Terry.
00:27:49
Speaker 1: Terry Warden taken into custody late night after domestic disturbance, according to Richmond police. Criminal complaints obtained by Virginia officers arrived around 1130 to investigate. I guess he watched all the games that day. Yeah. Officers said that there was tape residue around both of the woman's arms. Do you think that he just waited until that ball was ruled incomplete and they didn't give the extra second in Notre Dame BYU to go untape his wife? He thought, we got to get to the end of this day first, honey. Then I'll come let you up and we'll get you something to eat, something to drink. But I've got to see what happens in both this Florida State-Miami game and BYU and Notre Dame.
00:28:28
Speaker 3: This is wild. Here would be my advice to Terry. My advice to Terry is, if your wife is that annoying that you can't do anything but taper up to a chair, better options would be, A, divorce your wife and don't do this, or B, just leave the house. What is she going to do? Get in your car, go to a sports bar, go to a buddy's house, watch football all day. Because if you're willing to tape your wife to a chair, I doubt you fear the repercussions of just leaving the house for the day and making sure you can watch your college football that way.
00:29:04
Speaker 1: While the officer wrote the criminal complaint, Ward stated he did indeed tie his wife to a chair and place her down in the basement. And then it goes on to say, while his wife remained trapped downstairs, Ward went back upstairs to watch the game in complete isolation.
00:29:24
Speaker 3: I mean, amazing, amazing stuff. I also think, like, is this the first time he's done something like this?
00:29:31
Speaker 1: He just goes back to the game, just cheering. Like, nothing ever happened.
00:29:36
Speaker 3: Can we show Terry again? Let's look let's take a let's take a glance at terry one more time yeah in that photo look how blurry it is terry it's 64 years old 64 it's like they took this on a very humid day with a cell phone camera he's also got a little smirk to him He's proud of watching those games. Somebody has to wipe their camera lens off when they take that photo of him.
00:29:57
Speaker 2: He's going to be in.
00:29:58
Speaker 1: Complete isolation as well in the cell, right? He's going to love it. He looks like he's pleased. He's like, man, I got to wait for him.
00:30:05
Speaker 3: You would almost have to plead insanity if his wife says this is the first time this has happened. 64-year-old man, I'm assuming that they're not newlyweds, him and his wife. I'm assuming at 64 they've been together for quite some time. To snap at 64 years old, and tie your wife to a chair so you can watch college football in isolation feels like you may have mentally snapped. And that would be, I'm not Clay Travis, and I'm not a part of his law firm. But I think my criminal defense would be insanity if this was the case. Either that or this has happened a lot of times, and it's just now being reported. But I can't imagine at 64 being the time to decide, now's when I'm going to tie my wife to a chair in the basement. So I can go watch Tennessee, Alabama.
00:30:50
Speaker 1: So the woman stated that it was around a 30 to 45 minute ordeal.
00:30:59
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:31:00
Speaker 3: No, that's not nearly as bad as I thought.
00:31:01
Speaker 2: No, I thought it was like all night.
00:31:02
Speaker 3: I don't want to side with him, but that's not nearly as bad as I thought. Who do we think? Is this like Alabama fan? I mean, we know where he is.
00:31:10
Speaker 2: But if he's an SEC fan, who is he rooting for?
00:31:14
Speaker 1: The officers arrived at the scene around 11.30 p.m., so this is Eastern time.
00:31:19
Speaker 3: Remind me, where was he? Where did this happen, JT?
00:31:22
Speaker 2: Virginia.
00:31:23
Speaker 3: Virginia.
00:31:24
Speaker 2: So I'm thinking East Coast. That was BYU, Notre Dame. He could be a Notre Dame fan.
00:31:31
Speaker 3: Notre Dame and Virginia, yeah. Maybe Florida State, Miami. I don't know. I would think this is an SEC move, JT, to your point, that it would be some sort of SEC fan. It could also be somebody who really likes to gamble on games that really needed to see if somebody covered or not for 30, 45 minutes.
00:31:50
Speaker 2: It really needed some peace and quiet.
00:31:52
Speaker 4: Or maybe he's a big Tim Brando fan. He's watching the late-night game of Brando.
00:31:56
Speaker 2: Timmy B.
00:31:57
Speaker 3: He's got Timmy B on. The late-night delight. Honey, pipe down down there. I got Timmy B on the TV, and he's telling me about the atmosphere here in Lawrence, Kansas for K-State. I don't know what game Timmy B had. I'm sure it was better than that. But I could see that being the case too, JT. I don't, I just, 64 years old, first off, we should go live from his trial and be on the courtroom steps as he's defending whatever's going on. We need more information. We need his explanation about what happened. I need to know to what level of annoyance she was being. Was she just like trying to ask him a question? Here's the other thing too that's great about all of our TVs now in modern 2026. Pause it. You can pause live television.
00:32:41
Speaker 2: The word he used was peace. He wanted to watch football in peace.
00:32:47
Speaker 3: I had a buddy, a good friend of mine, Aaron Beasley, I grew up with. Our daughters play together on the same seven-year-old softball team. And we were at a game last night. And he's huge. He went to Tennessee. I went to Tennessee. Big Vols fan. He's got three kids. And he told a story. He said, right as Tennessee's mounting the charge in the third quarter on Saturday, I am just trying to watch the game. And he's got a very young little boy. And the young little boy is chasing the two daughters, got two older sisters, through the house. And he slams the door to the outside so hard, it breaks not one but two window panes above the door, shatters them. Completely. And it's the loudest thing. Shatters the window panes. And he's just like losing his mind because Tennessee's driving to go up 19 to 10. Wow. At this point, he's just trying to watch his balls on the third Saturday in October. And now he's got broken glass because his kid slammed the door too hard. Every parent can relate to being there at some point. Here's what I tend to do in those moments. I press pause. I press pause. You can come right back. And then you can catch up to it in real time through commercials.
00:33:56
Speaker 2: Like.
00:33:57
Speaker 3: Terry, next time your wife's being annoying, if you get a chance to ever be around her or within 100 feet of her ever again, just press pause. Press pause before you tie her up.
00:34:08
Speaker 1: The Bills now have two players suspended for spitting on their opponent. That's one thing I've never thought of is just spitting on someone.
00:34:15
Speaker 3: Did Pac-Man Jones get signed to a coaching contract with the Buffalo Bills?
00:34:19
Speaker 2: Exactly.
00:34:20
Speaker 3: Pac-Man Jones, big spitter. Loved to spit on people.
00:34:23
Speaker 2: It's obvious. It's so different than throwing a punch. You know you're going to get caught. Yeah, they now have two. It's C.J.
00:34:30
Speaker 1: Gardner-Johnson, and now it's Sam Franklin. He says he will appeal. I'm like, sorry, man. I don't know how you appeal that. It's a one-game suspension. Coming up, it is time to go for the bundle. That is straight ahead. Tony Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet.
00:34:46
Speaker 4: This year, the party's getting even bigger.
00:34:48
Speaker 3: Hey, there's Jay Boyd. They know me.
00:34:50
Speaker 2: This party, everybody's somebody.
00:34:52
Speaker 4: And Hard Rock Bet has something for everyone. Plus, new customers bid $ 5 and get up to $ 500 in no-sweat bets.
00:35:00

00:35:22
Speaker 4: On first down, Smoker back in his own end zone, going for the bundle.
00:35:26
Speaker 3: He's got Bonner, who lays it out and catches the ball down on the seven, and he's in for the touchdown. He was not touched.
00:35:33
Speaker 4: He was not touched by the defender, Nate Coggins. Jeff Smoker is a touchdown-throwing inferno.
00:35:40
Speaker 2: It's 57-49 Nashville.
00:35:44
Speaker 1: RIP to the great Mark Howard, who we honor each and every week going for the bundle.
00:35:48
Speaker 2: Love it so much.
00:35:50
Speaker 1: Chad, this week, I know we're confident in this game because you and I both wanted to use this for the bundle. Give me Kentucky minus 11.5 against Vanderbilt.
00:36:00
Speaker 3: Why?
00:36:01
Speaker 1: Because this isn't last year's Vandy. This is the old Vandy, the Vandy.
00:36:06
Speaker 2: That we knew.
00:36:07
Speaker 1: They are currently 3-4 overall, winless in the conference. Meanwhile, they're facing Kentucky, who's coming back home, five straight wins. They can win gritty, they can win big, and they're going.
00:36:18
Speaker 2: To win big.
00:36:19
Speaker 1: I think this is one of those double the spread type games against Vandy.
00:36:23
Speaker 3: I love it. I'm going to go to JT here first because I have a question for JT. JT, how long is the Lane Kiffin video that I sent? Do you know?
00:36:31
Speaker 2: Do you have any idea?
00:36:33
Speaker 3: I can give you 45 seconds. Okay, I want to play this Lane Kiffin video. This video from his press conference, because it plays into my pick on the parlay, Lane Kiffin talked about relief syndrome and how it's a real thing and how he was rooting for Auburn to win the game because he knew they would have a better chance at beating them if they won against Georgia. And had they lost a close game, it would be tougher to beat them. I buy into what Lane Kiffin is talking about from a psychological standpoint. Give me LSU on the road and Minus 7.5 against Auburn. I think this is a double-digit win for the LSU Tigers over the Auburn Tigers. I think there will be a bit of relief syndrome. I think Auburn's got a talented defense. They also just kicked off one of their best players on defense this week who was suspended indefinitely before the Georgia game. I don't think Auburn's that good. I think LSU, playing for their lives on the road, give me the Tigers, the Bayou Bengals, minus 7.5.
00:37:35
Speaker 2: JT?
00:37:38
Speaker 4: Guys, I'm going to go Ole Miss plus three and a half. Ole Miss five and one. Got some momentum. I've seen Texas a lot this year. I'm an Ohio State fan. I think that Texas looked bad and Ohio State looked even worse in that game early in the year. I think that Tennessee, if they would have played anywhere half as good as they played against Alabama, would have smashed Texas with a good quarterback. Rebels obviously have some advantages there. in the form of offensive firepower. They've been good on defense. Texas, a tough place to play, but I like Ole Miss. They're scoring a lot of points, three and a half.
00:38:16
Speaker 1: Do we happen to know just at first glance when these kickoffs are happening? When are we going to know about the bundle, Chad?
00:38:21
Speaker 2: Do you know?
00:38:22
Speaker 3: When the kickoffs are happening, are these games?
00:38:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, we know. Are these at night?
00:38:28
Speaker 3: No, no, no, no. Hold on. I'll have all those games for you here in just two seconds.
00:38:32
Speaker 2: Okay, so I've played the parlay.
00:38:34
Speaker 3: I know Kentucky Vandy's at night.
00:38:36
Speaker 2: There we go. Okay.
00:38:37
Speaker 3: LSU Auburn's at 11 a.m. Central Time.
00:38:39
Speaker 2: Okay.
00:38:40
Speaker 3: And Ole Miss Texas is 6.30. So two of them are at night. Mine's early kickoff.
00:38:46
Speaker 2: So we'll be sweating it with two games.
00:38:49
Speaker 3: Well, you may not be sweating at all if LSU doesn't take care of business.
00:38:52
Speaker 2: Well, that's fair.
00:38:53
Speaker 1: If we lose the first leg. We won't be sweating anything. We'll just be paying our money to Hard Rock Bet. I played the three-bet parlay here for the bundle. It's plus $ 5.
00:39:03
Speaker 2: 97 odds.
00:39:04
Speaker 1: Bet $ 3 is what I did just to see what it was. $ 20. 91 return for every bet that is exactly what you saw on the screen. You can roll with us. Go to hardrock.bet.com. Hardrock.bet.com. Take advantage of the promo offer. $ 5 to get up to $ 500 in no sweat bets. And then you can follow us on the bundle through the promo. And if we hit, we'll hit.
00:39:28
Speaker 2: We'll hit.
00:39:30
Speaker 3: Big jt each week he's trying to take his name out of the hat he doesn't want to pick him because he's been so bad at this and our response is absolutely not every time we should remind jt of our record a year ago when we did things like this because we picked parlays every single week. Tough ones. And they would put a graphic up at our old place against every other host and rider. And I'm thinking, we're going with three and four-leg parlays.
00:39:55
Speaker 2: We're trying to hit one parlay on all the seasons.
00:39:57
Speaker 3: Yes, and we're taking long odds. And everybody's taking the easiest possible way out of a two-leg parlay. And our record's like one in 39. At one point, everyone else is right around 500. But that one got us above ground. But a lesson to JT, did we quit? No, we didn't quit. Why? While we lose, we're not losers. This is a lesson that I give to every little girl that I coach. Just because you lost doesn't mean you're a loser. It's how you handle the loss. JT, you're a winner, my friend. Don't be a loser. Continue to play the game. Continue to go with it. You're going to start hitting. We're probably going to start missing. But it's all going to leak up beautifully a few weeks where we're going to go for the bundle and we're going to nail it. I can guarantee it. JT, also, you've been quitting on Furman. Don't you get these from Todd Furman?
00:40:47
Speaker 2: Guys, I started.
00:40:48
Speaker 4: I got my first couple of bets from Todd Furman. I can tell anybody that wants to watch that show. It's a great show. They do a wonderful job. Just don't take any gambling advice from that clown in Vegas.
00:40:59
Speaker 3: That's right. That's a tough beat. Maybe you should move to on tilt. I think Kelly and Ariel may have a better winning percentage for you. And Joe?
00:41:09
Speaker 1: On Tilt coming up after the Clay Travis show this afternoon. And, of course, the next round coming up right after us in just a couple of minutes. Chad, I forgot to say this. Walking back home from Chappelle, I sprained my ankle. I stepped off the curb, and I was looking at my phone, and I hit like a drainage area.
00:41:28
Speaker 3: Isn't it amazing, though, that you were deprived of your phone for the two, three hours of the show or whatever?
00:41:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, my phone was blowing up with emails.
00:41:33
Speaker 3: Now I'm on the phone because I'm trying to catch up. And I stepped off a curb and sprained my ankle.
00:41:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, I did.
00:41:38
Speaker 1: And I got lucky that it wasn't worse. But I was more embarrassed because there was a car at the stop sign right in front of me.
00:41:45
Speaker 2: They saw me. They were laughing at me.
00:41:47
Speaker 3: Were you dragging your leg around like Bud Kilmer? I was hobbled. At first, I was like, oh, I can move my foot. It's not that bad. Halfway back on the walk, that's when it really started to swell. I was like, oh, this is going to be awful. I took a bag of peas and put it on my ankle last night. Any better this morning or did you wake up sore?
00:42:05
Speaker 2: I woke up sore. I'm fine now. I've been walking around during the breaks.
00:42:09
Speaker 3: Okay.
00:42:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's good. Yeah, it's not broken.
00:42:12
Speaker 3: My foot is sore from walking seven miles this weekend in Knoxville. But other than that, I'm tip-top. So good to hear that the bag of frozen peas worked.
00:42:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll be able to crutch next time you see me. Hey, the next round coming your way right now. Follow us on social media. Like and subscribe on YouTube at Hutton and Withrow. We'll catch you tomorrow morning.
