ABOUT THIS EPISODE
When the International Criminal Court became operational in 2002, it represented a major breakthrough for human rights. For the first time in human history, an international institution had been established to prosecute individuals for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The Court now finds itself under increasing attacks. UA Albany Professor Emeritus Larry Wittner wrote an article pointing out that If the attack from Putin’s Russia and the US Trump administration succeeds, it will produce a disaster not only for the rule of law, but for the cause of human rights. Prof. Wittner talks with Mark Dunlea for Hudson Mohawk Magazine. https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/attack-on-icc
