speaker-1: Chuck, what what would be your biggest, your biggest takeaway that you would want parents to know this week about doubt? What would be your kind of final hit at home for parents who are who are might even actually be thinking, ⁓ gosh, I never even thought my kids might have doubt? ⁓ or they have the kid that is really doubting and it's completely freaking them out. What would be, what would be your last takeaway on this?
speaker-0: ⁓ my. ⁓ that's a big question. But ⁓ I I would say, you know, and you hit on a few of these points. Those those moments where you get a peek into your children's hearts are priceless. Yes. ⁓ and and that and let the Holy Spirit lead you. I I I had to 'cause I'm I'm a very structured driven guy too. And I had to just like you, Abby, I had to I had to back off and realize, you know, there's more important things going on here. And I realized that I had to leave space for the Holy Spirit. ⁓ things the Holy Spirit is not scheduled. And and so I had to I had to pull back and and let the Holy Spirit and and some ⁓ there were there were times when I would have devotions with the kids and and I'd been praying all day, Lord and I and I show up and I've got absolutely nothing. And I'm just like you know, as as a guy who plans things out and you know, in inwardly panicking. And ⁓ and all of a sudden I'd I I'd ask them a question and we'd read a verse and all of a sudden the Holy Spirit take over. Wow. And and those are the best devotions we ever had as a family with that. that this organic conversation about the Lord, about scripture, about their challenges and their struggles. So I I would say that leave room for the Holy Spirit. and dealing with doubt is so important because doubt and the other thing I I I shared with our our kids and I share with parents out there is doubt is not a sin. Let's just clear that up and and it's not a sin. It it's it's us being human. ⁓ but unresolved doubt can turn into unbelief. And the scripture says that unbelief is a sin. And so let's be diligent about not allowing that un that that doubt turn into unbelief and become sin in the lives of our children. There's just there's too much at stake. And and if if sometimes, like you said, you know, they ask the hard questions and we get uncomfortable. Man, the Lord never calls us to comfort. He he calls us to be uncomfortable and and to be bold. And and being bold and courageous is is oftentimes being uncomfortable. And and raising kids. Man, it scared me. I you know, I was the last of seven. I didn't know what young young kids were like. And and ⁓ there were times when I was just felt completely ill prepared and ill equipped and and and yet ⁓ I I knew that the calling from the Lord was greater than my my my desire to be comfortable. And so ⁓ comfort kills ⁓ and it it it can destroy faith, it can destroy futures. So just get uncomfortable in being obedient to the Lord and make room for the spirit.
speaker-1: Man, that is so good, Chuck. Thank you. And just the hope that sometimes those doubts are gonna lead to a greater faith, right? That that they will lead to a greater faith and just trusting the Lord in that.
