00:00:00.959 --> 00:00:19.920
I'm trying this new thing of just hitting record on the voice memo, and maybe we'll create many podcast episodes just from that because I've realized I'm feeling a little bit stuck in the okay, let's sit down and turn the mic on and get the outline out, and that's just not feeling as free as it used to feel feel.
00:00:20.160 --> 00:00:24.559
And so, since I'm traveling, I'm gonna give this a shot to see what happens.
00:00:26.079 --> 00:00:37.520
Today we completed our first Women Who Make a Difference leadership luncheon series, and this was an idea that came through and that was inspired.
00:00:37.920 --> 00:00:49.039
As I made the transition to Kentucky for the summer, I kept asking the question how can I best serve the women who can make the biggest difference?
00:00:49.200 --> 00:00:58.000
And so, thus, Women Who Make a Difference Luncheon Leadership Series was born, and it's an in-real life experience.
00:00:58.240 --> 00:01:06.480
I've had a lot of experience recently on virtual platforms and Zoom, and it's fun.
00:01:06.719 --> 00:01:07.840
I really appreciate it.
00:01:08.000 --> 00:01:13.840
I have clients from all over the world, and I've led groups from all over the world, and that is really fun.
00:01:14.000 --> 00:01:40.000
And there's nothing quite like being in a space with 12 other women energetically, where you can sense their energy and see their tears and be with them in the journey of asking really important questions, like what is your next level of leadership, and what do you need to let go of or invest in to create it that you haven't done yet?
00:01:40.159 --> 00:01:43.519
Those are the questions we talked about at the table over food.
00:01:43.599 --> 00:01:52.959
We slowed down, we talked and listened to each other, and the women got a chance to uh this is interesting.
00:01:53.280 --> 00:01:56.719
We have no problem in the coaching space talking.
00:01:56.879 --> 00:02:05.439
So coaches just let when we get together in development and in conversations and in school, we love to talk.
00:02:05.599 --> 00:02:08.719
Like we can fill hours, I can fill hours, as you know.
00:02:08.879 --> 00:02:10.879
You're listening to this podcast.
00:02:11.520 --> 00:02:17.599
And women specifically don't have a lot of practice or opportunities to just talk.
00:02:17.840 --> 00:02:19.360
Many of us don't.
00:02:19.840 --> 00:02:31.360
And so when I said you have 13 minutes to just talk and say whatever comes through, whatever comes to mind, and your partner's just gonna sit there and listen and hold the space for you.
00:02:31.680 --> 00:02:39.520
And then if you run out of things to say, your partner's just gonna ask you what else until you keep talking, and then what else until you keep talking?
00:02:39.680 --> 00:02:55.520
And it was so interesting because I don't know that any of the women were able to fill all 13 minutes with their ideas, and many of the women whose only task was to listen weren't able to do that.
00:02:55.680 --> 00:03:12.000
I noticed people jumping in and wanting to help and offer ideas and affirmation and encouragement, and it got me curious about the ways that we're gifting ourselves time and space just to be heard.
00:03:12.560 --> 00:03:13.599
Just to be heard.
00:03:13.759 --> 00:03:19.840
When is the last time that you had 13 minutes of someone just listening to you?
00:03:20.159 --> 00:03:25.199
And they weren't aha, and they weren't okay, and they weren't you should, and I have an idea or a suggestion.
00:03:25.360 --> 00:03:30.639
They literally just held the space with and for you while you thought.
00:03:30.800 --> 00:03:31.840
And what a gift.
00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:56.400
I just completed the CFJ Coaching Success School, and as a part of that, we were in thinking partnerships, and we met with our thinking partner, which shifted every month twice a month, and for 20 to 30 minutes of that hour, I just got a chance to think and talk and think and talk and think and talk, and there was someone else there to hold that space, and they said nothing.
00:03:56.639 --> 00:04:02.800
And so many beautiful ideas and realizations came out of that thinking space.
00:04:03.199 --> 00:04:18.720
And so I wonder what a bigger impact you might be able to have if you had that level of support to hold the space while you think, to hold the space while you speak, to hold the space while you ideate and create.
00:04:18.879 --> 00:04:24.959
That way you're not siloed off trying to do everything and think about everything and figure everything out on your own.
00:04:25.279 --> 00:04:27.759
I wonder what a bigger impact you could make.
00:04:27.920 --> 00:04:30.879
I bet it's could be big, massive, even.
00:04:31.680 --> 00:04:39.040
And I also am curious about how is our ability to listen?
00:04:39.199 --> 00:04:41.360
Like, what is up with our ability to listen?
00:04:41.600 --> 00:04:47.279
And I've noticed that as women specifically, we want to jump in and help, right?
00:04:47.439 --> 00:04:58.399
Like we're conditioned to be the one that has all the answers and the one that shows up and helps everyone, and the one who has the idea and the resource and the suggestion, the recipe.
00:04:58.720 --> 00:05:04.639
And in my opinion, that gets in the way of our ability to just be with someone.
00:05:04.879 --> 00:05:11.759
Just be with someone and hold the space with a silent presence, an open heart.
00:05:12.560 --> 00:05:21.759
Oftentimes, when I'm in client conversations, they'll talk and talk and talk, and then they'll pause and look at me like I'm gonna say something, and I often don't.
00:05:21.839 --> 00:05:39.120
I often just reflect back to them silently, an open heart, and there's so much more that comes out of that pause, another idea, another inspiration, another resource that they are able to create for themselves.
00:05:39.279 --> 00:05:40.319
It's powerful.
00:05:40.560 --> 00:05:55.199
This I this presence that strong listening, not active listening, just held space and silence and presence to listen with and for someone really can make a huge difference.
00:05:56.000 --> 00:06:01.680
So I'm super celebrating the fact that we did this first in real life experience.
00:06:01.920 --> 00:06:05.759
We have two more leadership luncheons on the books in real life.
00:06:05.839 --> 00:06:18.240
So if you are a woman who makes a difference in the tri-state area, Ashland, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and you'd like a seat at the table, we've decided to double in size.
00:06:18.560 --> 00:06:28.160
So there are a few open invitations for the experiences on July 8th and July 22nd, and they are getting filled super quickly.
00:06:28.399 --> 00:06:43.199
So if you are or you know someone who is a woman who makes a difference in this community who could use support and development in her leadership and visioning, our next conversation is going to be about blind spots, vision that we have, and the blind spots that are getting in the way.
00:06:43.360 --> 00:06:45.439
So super excited about that.
00:06:45.759 --> 00:06:50.639
Again, the inspiration came from a download of asking the question what would I like to create?
00:06:50.879 --> 00:06:52.240
What would I like to serve?
00:06:52.399 --> 00:07:01.040
And then to see all these powerhouse women, executive directors, women who are serving on boards, philanthropists.
00:07:01.279 --> 00:07:15.199
There was a high school student who's leading a ministry for our local domestic violence shelter, women who are in corporate connectors, women who are leading foundations, women who are leading the city.
00:07:15.360 --> 00:07:16.000
It was a lot.
00:07:16.079 --> 00:07:21.759
Like it was a lot of power and energy and love and creativity in one space.
00:07:22.000 --> 00:07:28.720
And when I took a step back and really became the observer of the experience, my heart just exploded.
00:07:28.800 --> 00:07:32.720
Like, look at what we are capable of creating when we get together.
00:07:33.120 --> 00:07:52.800
Look at what we are capable of ideating and how we're able to support and resource each other and connect each other with our resources and your dreams when we get in a room of high caliber, high vision, high love, high energy, high vision, high power people.
00:07:52.959 --> 00:07:54.079
I think I said vision twice.
00:07:54.160 --> 00:07:55.519
Maybe that was on purpose.
00:07:57.279 --> 00:07:59.519
I'm very proud of the women who showed up today.
00:07:59.680 --> 00:08:03.680
I'm celebrating the work that comes from inspiration.
00:08:03.920 --> 00:08:10.240
I'm celebrating the fact that it felt really fun and so much easier than most of the things that I've done.
00:08:10.319 --> 00:08:12.800
And so I think we might be on to something, ladies.
00:08:13.439 --> 00:08:20.480
Signing off, feedback, let me know if you like this shorter episode, ideas for topics.
00:08:20.879 --> 00:08:23.439
Send me all your love.
00:08:23.600 --> 00:08:25.040
And I'm sending you mine.
00:08:25.279 --> 00:08:26.399
Till next time.
