TRANSCRIPT 🔗
00:00:03.439 --> 00:00:08.880
Before we begin, we're so excited to introduce today's guest, Renee Green.
00:00:09.119 --> 00:00:16.879
Renee brings such a grounded, heart-centered approach to healing through mindful movement, breath, and body awareness.
00:00:17.280 --> 00:00:26.640
In this conversation, we explore what it means to soften, to slow down, to reconnect with the body in a way that feels supportive instead of forced.
00:00:26.879 --> 00:00:34.799
So if you've been feeling tired, uh tense, or you feel like you've been pushing yourself too hard, this episode is for you.
00:00:35.039 --> 00:00:40.640
So it's an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to listen a little more deeply.
00:00:40.880 --> 00:00:42.880
So let's get into it.
00:00:44.719 --> 00:00:50.640
Welcome to Healers Talk Healing, the podcast from Miracles Ultimate Wellness Resources.
00:00:50.799 --> 00:00:52.479
I'm Lynn Herrod Diverges.
00:00:52.640 --> 00:00:54.000
And I'm Nina Gingly.
00:00:54.240 --> 00:01:03.280
Each episode brings you inspiring conversations, practical wisdom, and fresh perspectives on healing and personal transformation.
00:01:03.439 --> 00:01:09.040
Our goal is simple to help you learn, experience, and connect in ways that support your unique journey.
00:01:09.200 --> 00:01:10.239
Thank you for being here.
00:01:10.400 --> 00:01:12.719
And let's dive into today's conversation.
00:01:12.959 --> 00:01:27.920
Oh my gosh, I am super excited to start this next amazing series with Renee and our three series until we get to the workshop in July.
00:01:28.400 --> 00:01:33.200
And as everyone knows, or maybe they don't, but it's the third Sunday of every month.
00:01:33.280 --> 00:01:34.400
And yeah, I'm old school.
00:01:34.480 --> 00:01:37.920
I'm pulling it out so I remember what the date is offhand.
00:01:38.400 --> 00:01:41.200
We are doing July the 19th.
00:01:41.519 --> 00:01:44.560
So listen in, get to know us a little better.
00:01:44.719 --> 00:02:00.400
Let's talk about what Renee does and walk the journey with us over the next three podcasts and then a live experience with Renee, which is the thing that's the most exciting, I think.
00:02:00.640 --> 00:02:12.800
Not that these are not exciting, but the most exciting is to be able to connect with you sort of one-on-one in a live situation where we can ask questions, where we can come together.
00:02:12.960 --> 00:02:16.080
So I'm excited without further ado.
00:02:18.240 --> 00:02:21.120
You know, we've been chatting a little bit.
00:02:21.840 --> 00:02:29.680
And you know, we just want to get to know you from the place of, you know, what's your journey been like?
00:02:29.840 --> 00:02:34.960
I'm sure it's been a bit of a a roller coaster, as all of us have.
00:02:36.960 --> 00:02:41.919
And and that could include life before yoga and life now with it.
00:02:44.879 --> 00:02:49.919
So for me, I mean, it's it has been, you know, that that road.
00:02:50.000 --> 00:02:58.319
Um, life before yoga was completely 100% different than life with yoga.
00:02:58.879 --> 00:03:05.680
Um, I I was, I'm gonna say it, it's kind of a secret, but I was an off-road racer.
00:03:06.319 --> 00:03:12.159
Um and I um drove Jeeps up the side of a hill.
00:03:12.400 --> 00:03:25.919
Um and and wow, I was all about um being seen and doing it the best and and and being being what everybody thought I should be.
00:03:26.240 --> 00:03:31.120
Um I was uh presented and I was the presenter.
00:03:31.759 --> 00:03:39.599
Um and it was it was, you know, it was a very big party life.
00:03:39.840 --> 00:03:45.120
And it was, you know, being being the trophy wife, that's what I was.
00:03:45.360 --> 00:03:56.639
Um and um I just there came that breaking point where I just I knew that this wasn't the life I wanted my daughter to lead.
00:03:56.800 --> 00:04:03.439
Um, as much as I love the outdoors and I wanted her to have all these things, I didn't want her to have all the baggage that came with it.
00:04:04.159 --> 00:04:17.120
Um and when I saw her following in my footsteps at 10 years old doing the things I did to hide the things I didn't want to do, it was just such an eye-opener for me.
00:04:17.279 --> 00:04:25.920
And I had to make that change and I didn't know what it was gonna look like or what it was gonna be, but I um I got a divorce.
00:04:26.079 --> 00:04:29.839
I took my kid and my dog and my car and away I went.
00:04:30.160 --> 00:04:36.160
And um somehow I I found this little yoga studio.
00:04:36.399 --> 00:04:47.040
Um, I was uh doing um, I I joined a family that was doing like a private practice and I went in and I was just in my own little space.
00:04:47.199 --> 00:05:03.360
I I mean it was well, it was a big room and there were other people there, but I was in this this space and I learned to feel inside of me, and it was just the most exciting thing.
00:05:03.519 --> 00:05:09.839
I I don't think I ever remembered feeling like that before, not as a kid, not not doing anything.
00:05:10.000 --> 00:05:20.480
I just I was there for me in me, and it was just this presence and I I just didn't know what to do with it.
00:05:20.639 --> 00:05:37.680
And and getting put, I was being put into poses, um, and the alignment that came into my body to feel that that presence, that alignment, that awareness, that listening to myself was just that was it.
00:05:37.920 --> 00:05:39.040
That was the ticket.
00:05:39.120 --> 00:05:44.079
I had no idea what I was gonna do with it, but that was where I wanted to be.
00:05:44.720 --> 00:05:56.800
That is that's you're speaking, and I'm hearing like one of my girlfriends saying something similar about being with me, me thinking also the same thing.
00:05:57.680 --> 00:06:08.879
It's funny that you're talking about this because I've been thinking to myself, I've haven't yet been fully present to being inside my own body.
00:06:09.120 --> 00:06:17.920
You know, for me, my journey was always like my life, my value, my worth was for someone else, not for self.
00:06:18.160 --> 00:06:25.279
And you know, been groomed my my child in my childhood into my early 20s, that that was my role.
00:06:25.439 --> 00:06:31.600
Like you're here because I need you, so whoever it is, need you to be something for me.
00:06:32.000 --> 00:06:36.720
And then not knowing what that is, and then taking all this.
00:06:36.800 --> 00:06:38.879
I'm gonna say all this time, it feels like all this time.
00:06:38.959 --> 00:06:41.360
Maybe it's a sh no, but there's no timeline.
00:06:41.439 --> 00:06:42.240
I understand that.
00:06:42.399 --> 00:06:45.600
But now, as you're saying this, I'm like, yeah, that's where I'm at now.
00:06:45.680 --> 00:07:01.040
It's like trying to get to know who I am, what my body is for me, that it's like my body, not someone else's body as a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend, or you know, none of that, that it's for me.
00:07:01.199 --> 00:07:07.519
And I'm there's a bit of this, like, you know, muscle memory, so it's kind of gooey and sticky, and I'm excited about the change.
00:07:07.600 --> 00:07:21.279
And then part of me is like, this is so different, it's so different, and my natural thoughts automatically will go to my old way of thinking, and those, you know, not being able to interrupt the pattern.
00:07:21.519 --> 00:07:27.759
So, how did getting you know, showing up at that first practice?
00:07:28.639 --> 00:07:36.720
How did you or what happened to make you realize like, oh, this is what it feels like to be in my body?
00:07:38.160 --> 00:07:43.600
You know, that's that's really interesting because I I didn't know that's what I was feeling at the moment.
00:07:43.920 --> 00:07:46.399
It was just something at that moment euphoric.
00:07:46.480 --> 00:07:51.279
It was just something I had no memory of ever feeling before.
00:07:51.680 --> 00:08:00.480
And, you know, I'd always been taught like you, harder, better, faster, you know, to to get it done in the way that looks the best.
00:08:00.639 --> 00:08:05.519
Um, make sure your hair and makeup are done, you know, all of all of the things.
00:08:05.839 --> 00:08:10.639
And to have that feeling for me, it was just euphoric.
00:08:10.720 --> 00:08:12.160
It was something I just didn't know.
00:08:12.240 --> 00:08:18.959
I was in a in a space where I didn't need to be a presenter for anybody.
00:08:19.120 --> 00:08:23.040
I didn't need to show myself to anybody but me.
00:08:25.040 --> 00:08:38.159
You know, the my my daughter and and her friends were in the in the class on their side of the the room, and um some friends of mine were, and everybody was in their space and just on my mat.
00:08:38.720 --> 00:08:43.919
There was just this, it was all for me, about me, within me.
00:08:44.080 --> 00:08:48.000
And it was just yeah, it was just that feeling.
00:08:48.720 --> 00:09:03.600
I I find that amazing, and as both of you have been sharing, uh it takes me back to my experience first, thinking about the body, and like you said, experiencing your body for you, being in you.
00:09:04.559 --> 00:09:11.519
And my experience, first of all, with the body is I've been a dancer since five years old.
00:09:12.159 --> 00:09:21.759
Dancing, however, was always structured in a way that was very different from what you're describing because it was more performative.
00:09:22.559 --> 00:09:43.039
The way I felt was completely free to express myself in an environment that I grew up in that was very limited and stifling, where I couldn't be a child, the be seen but not heard.
00:09:43.279 --> 00:09:48.240
Oh no, we girls don't wear pants, they wear dresses, even when you go out and play.
00:09:48.399 --> 00:09:51.120
And that there were all these rules and regulations.
00:09:51.279 --> 00:09:58.320
I won't go into the reasons, but dance was freedom, and that was the expression of it.
00:09:58.720 --> 00:10:08.320
As I moved out of dance in my mid-20s, I discovered so many other things that were taking place.
00:10:08.480 --> 00:10:12.960
And what Nina was saying, yes, everything was always about someone else.
00:10:13.200 --> 00:10:15.759
Make sure that you had make a good impression.
00:10:15.919 --> 00:10:18.799
You have to be right for you know the world.
00:10:19.039 --> 00:10:29.200
You want to represent the family, you've got to take care of the the siblings, and you've got to take care of the job, and you've got to take care of, take care of, take care of.
00:10:41.679 --> 00:11:04.559
So being introduced to yoga and being introduced to a different way of movement, I have to admit, even though I danced all those years on a regular, almost daily basis and performed a lot, yoga was a lot more challenging than dancing.
00:11:05.519 --> 00:11:12.000
Yet it was a different connection for me in terms of my body.
00:11:12.559 --> 00:11:18.720
And it was more, it's more of a um, I'm gonna meditative.
00:11:19.279 --> 00:11:25.360
It's it is as you were saying, being in your own space.
00:11:25.679 --> 00:11:26.000
Yeah.
00:11:26.240 --> 00:11:35.039
Whereas with dance, it was, you know, about the interaction with everyone else and not necessarily being just in your own space.
00:11:35.360 --> 00:11:35.840
Right.
00:11:36.080 --> 00:11:54.480
Um, so anyway, I find that yoga, and especially as we continue to grow and expand, not only in our consciousness, but physically, being able to do at least the yoga I call stretching yoga.
00:11:54.559 --> 00:11:59.360
I don't know what the technical name is, but it's when you can stretch.
00:12:00.240 --> 00:12:05.919
And um uh as a way to stay limber, I think makes a huge difference.
00:12:06.000 --> 00:12:12.240
So it helps me also then go back to those memories of when I was younger and more limber.
00:12:12.399 --> 00:12:24.240
I haven't quite gotten the way I was when I was back in those days, back in I always say the last century, but um uh still working to get there.
00:12:24.480 --> 00:12:27.200
And and it's it's it is amazing.
00:12:27.440 --> 00:12:47.039
So from where you were before yoga to where you are now, what have you discovered about yourself and this entire process that has really expanded, I would say, your world and yourself?
00:12:47.440 --> 00:12:56.559
You know, one of the one of the things is like what you just said, you know, you're um you're trying to get back to where you were.
00:12:56.799 --> 00:13:06.320
But one of the great things about yoga is it doesn't matter where you were, it doesn't even matter where you want to go, but it it's about where you are right now.
00:13:07.600 --> 00:13:54.240
It's about bringing that awareness and finding that internal comfort with where you are right now, that that breath awareness, that nervous system awareness, when you can feel that something bubbling up inside of you, and you can calm that just by your breath work, just by going onto your mat to move in a couple of different poses, because you know, we hold so much tension in our bodies that when we move into a pose and we can settle into it, we can allow that that stress to release from those joints.
00:13:54.480 --> 00:14:25.120
You know, we have we have you know people who who come in who you know, we will just say can't touch your toes or can't hold your hands over your head or whatever it is, but it's it's because they are holding on to so much, and it's finding that place to release, you know, when you when you go through um psychology and different things like that, they want you to talk it out and be it out and know what it is and all of those things, but in yoga, you can just let it go.
00:14:25.200 --> 00:14:28.799
You don't have to know what it is, where it came from, or why it's there.
00:14:29.440 --> 00:14:40.240
You can just allow that softness to occur by listening into your body by being ready to let that go.
00:14:41.120 --> 00:14:43.360
Yes, I I love that.
00:14:43.600 --> 00:14:44.559
I love that.
00:14:45.039 --> 00:14:49.039
It's how can I share this?
00:14:49.360 --> 00:15:08.639
Everything you've said I totally get, understand, but haven't come into the full aspect of experiencing experiencing it within myself because I'm still in my head rather than in my body.
00:15:08.799 --> 00:15:12.399
That's what I that's what I'm discovering at this point.
00:15:13.679 --> 00:15:16.720
I'm I'm more in my head than in my body.
00:15:17.039 --> 00:15:25.279
And I just mentioned I was more in the past in terms of what stretching meant, because that's how I perceive it, right?
00:15:25.840 --> 00:15:28.080
As opposed to what it really is.
00:15:28.240 --> 00:15:36.639
And so I will continue because as you describe it, I'm like, oh yeah, yeah, I want to let go, yeah, I want to let go.
00:15:38.240 --> 00:15:40.240
Moving into those spaces.
00:15:40.480 --> 00:15:47.919
Yeah, it's it's about listening, listening inside and noticing what your body is telling you.
00:15:48.559 --> 00:15:55.120
You know, sometimes it's telling you that it you've pushed hard enough and and let's let's hang out here for a bit.
00:15:55.279 --> 00:16:02.720
Um, I'm not ready to expand, or because our monkey minds are in the way, we're not ready to let that go.
00:16:03.120 --> 00:16:18.639
You know, it's but it's noticing even that, and that awareness within your body will help you move into that awareness to where you can respond and let it go, not forcing it, but allowing it.
00:16:19.759 --> 00:16:20.960
That makes sense.
00:16:21.200 --> 00:16:21.919
That makes sense.
00:16:22.000 --> 00:16:31.679
I because I often have my dance instructors and and choreographers, you know, saying, This is how you're supposed to do it, and that's how you're supposed to do it.
00:16:31.759 --> 00:16:34.559
And and my body is like, but I wrote that.
00:16:34.720 --> 00:16:40.159
No, that's like, ah, but you still push through and do it anyway.
00:16:40.399 --> 00:16:41.519
So this is great.
00:16:41.679 --> 00:17:14.640
This is a very different orientation in terms of what it means to connect with your body, and in many ways, um I'm starting to see and and understand, and I think some others out there as well, that we we do what we do, whether it's athletic or even meditative, but we've still never really been fully taught how to listen to our own bodies.
00:17:14.799 --> 00:17:16.240
That's the key.
00:17:16.640 --> 00:17:29.279
It's just, you know, the it's almost as if we treat the body like an instrument that's supposed to be used and and it's tough and it can do all these things, and that's how you get through life.
00:17:29.599 --> 00:17:36.319
But it's listening to the body that I think is actually profound.
00:17:36.480 --> 00:17:39.920
We we may know it, but it's a very profound concept.
00:17:40.480 --> 00:17:42.559
And listening instead of telling.
00:17:43.200 --> 00:17:46.799
Ah that that wow, yeah.
00:17:47.440 --> 00:17:50.559
We tend to tell our body.
00:17:50.720 --> 00:17:54.559
I mean, it's probably why we also get injuries, is because we're not listening.
00:17:54.880 --> 00:18:01.920
Uh, and I was you know, there's so many different ways of connecting to one's body.
00:18:02.400 --> 00:18:04.799
There's tons of different ways, I guess, out there.
00:18:05.279 --> 00:18:11.839
And did you try anything else before you hit the mat?
00:18:13.359 --> 00:18:23.759
Um, I I actually do a meditative practice uh before and after my practices um with breathwork, um, with uh Reiki.
00:18:24.240 --> 00:18:31.759
Um and I I do those those practices before and after, um, just to calm that monkey mind.
00:18:31.920 --> 00:18:35.839
You know, we we it's really hard to push society out.
00:18:36.880 --> 00:18:41.920
Um and and to take that moment for yourself is really, really hard.
00:18:42.160 --> 00:18:43.519
So yes, I do.
00:18:43.680 --> 00:18:46.319
I have to take the time before and after.
00:18:46.480 --> 00:18:56.480
Um, otherwise, I you know, I I don't um I don't stop and feel into I I get into the mode of doing instead of being.
00:18:57.039 --> 00:18:58.079
Ah, yes.
00:18:58.240 --> 00:18:58.640
Yeah.
00:18:58.799 --> 00:19:22.400
And and that's where I think 99.99% of the world population, we we we have been um uh programmed into the constant doing, and the doing is what gives purpose and meaning and blah la la, all of all of those things rather than just being.
00:19:23.359 --> 00:19:36.799
And so yoga then, from what I'm hearing you say, is a state of being and also integration, the the body with the mind, right?
00:19:37.119 --> 00:19:40.400
The emotions releasing, you know, in those ways.
00:19:40.720 --> 00:19:46.880
And those those things that come up during meditation, and sometimes they feel crazy or you still have your monkey mind.
00:19:47.119 --> 00:20:08.240
Yeah, when you when you practice after that that morning for me, that morning meditation, and I go into practice after that, it really allows those things to integrate within me, whether it's me letting something go or me being creative and going, oh, this is what it feels like for whatever the action may be.
00:20:08.559 --> 00:20:13.279
Um, and it really allows you that integration time.
00:20:14.079 --> 00:20:23.200
You know, we it in society, we are taught that I'm gonna say it out loud, that softness is a weakness.
00:20:23.599 --> 00:20:24.319
Right, yes.
00:20:24.480 --> 00:20:26.240
But I but I disagree.
00:20:26.640 --> 00:20:51.920
This soft, this quiet is a place to increase our awareness, to increase our creativity, our connection, whatever, whatever that connection to Mother Earth, that connection to source, whatever you want to call it, but it really uh that connection to ourself, it's this softness that allows you to have that connection for our bodies to to fully open.
00:20:53.599 --> 00:20:56.640
I I have another uh quick question.
00:20:57.519 --> 00:21:04.480
You've been practicing yoga for uh a little while now, and I'd like to know.
00:21:04.720 --> 00:21:30.000
I think our audience would like to know too, what significant aspects, if any, have you noticed in your life as a result of your practice and um how you may go about doing things now just in your daily life or in having raised your your daughter or children and that sort of thing?
00:21:31.440 --> 00:21:38.160
I have to say there's there's a more for me, there's a excuse me, there's a more calm.
00:21:38.960 --> 00:21:46.000
Um I'm I'm not rushing to do everything that everybody else is doing.
00:21:46.799 --> 00:21:52.880
I'm sitting back and going, okay, what feels right for when I was raising my children?
00:21:53.039 --> 00:21:59.759
Um what's right for us as opposed to when I first started.
00:22:00.160 --> 00:22:09.599
Before I started with yoga, when I would started this mother journey, it was, oh, we have to do this and we have to do that, and we have to do this, and we need to go here and we need to do this.
00:22:09.839 --> 00:22:23.279
And now it's like, well, you know, what's going to be in our best interest and get us through the day that is enjoyable where we can be present instead of going?
00:22:25.440 --> 00:22:41.200
I was just gonna ask, how has you your I was gonna say your communication, the way you're being, how has that changed with your daughter?
00:22:41.359 --> 00:22:51.359
Because I know you said, you know, you saw her, she was 10 years old, you saw her, she was emulating a lot of the way you were being without knowing that that's the way you were being.
00:22:51.920 --> 00:22:56.480
So how did you see the shift as you were shifting?
00:22:57.200 --> 00:23:04.960
You know, it's funny that you say that because just the other day I was thinking how different she is.
00:23:06.160 --> 00:23:18.720
And when I made the shift, luckily she was young enough that um she just automatically made the shift because I changed, my energy changed.
00:23:18.960 --> 00:23:21.599
So what she was being raised with changed.
00:23:23.119 --> 00:23:32.960
You know, she went from, like I was just saying, you have to do, do, do, do to, you know, I think I want pancakes today.
00:23:33.680 --> 00:23:36.960
You know, the whole mindset just changes.
00:23:37.200 --> 00:23:48.000
Um, you know, let's let's you know, let's take our our journal outside and and go sit in the garden instead of we need to go to the park so we can see so and so so we can play with so and so.
00:23:48.079 --> 00:23:49.200
We need a play date for this.
00:23:49.519 --> 00:23:49.839
Yes.
00:23:50.079 --> 00:24:04.799
Um it it just it it just allowed her to really blossom into a young human being of all of her own instead of being me.
00:24:05.519 --> 00:24:06.079
Wow.
00:24:06.400 --> 00:24:07.200
That's beautiful.
00:24:07.440 --> 00:24:14.559
Wow, and and wow, parenting 101 right here, right?
00:24:14.799 --> 00:24:47.599
Yeah, I think giving her that not only modeling, but then you know, you learn about having space and then imparting that that space and having her just be who she is, and you know, the conversation keeps me coming back to the saying that uh when I had taken a course that we walk, you know, we call ourselves human beings, but really what we exemplify is human doings, you know.
00:24:47.759 --> 00:24:58.000
We've yes, we've been misnamed, you know, human, you know, and maybe not misnamed, but we walk inside of the doing and you know, find it challenging.
00:24:58.079 --> 00:25:05.599
I would say for those who most people I've spoken to to be in the being, it's uncomfortable.
00:25:06.880 --> 00:25:07.920
It really is.
00:25:08.160 --> 00:25:12.960
Like when I'm it's been a long time since I've been on the mat regularly.
00:25:13.359 --> 00:25:17.359
Now I'm uh you know, I'm still a perfectionist inside here.
00:25:17.680 --> 00:25:21.200
And you know, it is challenging to get to the mat.
00:25:21.279 --> 00:25:24.799
And and I know it's a practice, it's called a yoga practice.
00:25:24.880 --> 00:25:37.119
I get it, I know that, but there's so I find the challenge in not being perfect on the mat.
00:25:37.359 --> 00:25:38.480
And I'm just gonna say it.
00:25:38.640 --> 00:25:42.160
I I find it challenging when I when I you know, I will start looking around.
00:25:42.240 --> 00:25:51.119
I'm like, look at that person, they could do this, look at that person, they could do this, and I'm just like, you can't even keep like I can't do the downward dog long enough.
00:25:51.279 --> 00:25:57.359
I need to fidget or move, or you know, it's just moving sometimes from downward dog and pushing your leg forward.
00:25:57.599 --> 00:26:05.200
And I I have a challenge I always had, whether I was fit or not fit, whether I was thin or not thin, my body just doesn't move that way.
00:26:05.680 --> 00:26:10.319
How have you been able to get over that pump?
00:26:10.480 --> 00:26:13.359
Because you said you were in that world, they're like, it has to be perfect in that.
00:26:13.839 --> 00:26:15.759
Like, how did that change?
00:26:15.839 --> 00:26:20.160
Or when when was that moment where you're like, oh, it doesn't have to be perfect anymore?
00:26:21.359 --> 00:26:24.319
It was it, I wouldn't say it was a process.
00:26:24.480 --> 00:26:40.160
Uh, and it was one, you know, coming coming within myself, and then you I had to go through the process of learning where I was in that moment and being okay with where I was in that moment.
00:26:41.200 --> 00:26:44.559
It's okay to fidget and downward facing dog.
00:26:45.119 --> 00:26:49.680
It's okay to put my knees down and then pull my foot forward.
00:26:49.920 --> 00:26:55.599
I don't have to do that step forward like everybody else because my body's not there.
00:26:56.079 --> 00:27:00.240
Or maybe my body is there and the person next to me is trying to emulate me.
00:27:00.400 --> 00:27:01.279
I don't want that.
00:27:01.440 --> 00:27:05.359
I want them to be where their body is, where it is inside.
00:27:05.599 --> 00:27:06.559
What feels right?
00:27:06.720 --> 00:27:12.960
You have to find that that quiet in you to be okay with where you are today.
00:27:13.359 --> 00:27:19.359
Because your pose, your downward-facing dog, maybe your knees are bent, so your spine is longer.
00:27:19.680 --> 00:27:25.519
Maybe your heels don't touch the ground, and that's where your body is today.
00:27:25.680 --> 00:27:27.359
Tomorrow it may be different.
00:27:27.599 --> 00:27:33.440
Tomorrow it may be, you know, your heels are a little closer, or maybe they're a little higher because you did something else.
00:27:33.680 --> 00:27:38.640
It's about being okay with who you're being right now.
00:27:38.960 --> 00:27:40.400
You're not doing that.
00:27:42.720 --> 00:27:45.599
Yeah, I'm no, you're talking to all of us, Renee.
00:27:46.319 --> 00:28:01.359
You're talking to all of us, and I'm sure those listening, uh, yes, that yeah, I guess I really think inside of the being, like this we talk about the being, and it's so foreign.
00:28:01.599 --> 00:28:11.359
Yes, that it's it's foreign, it's a foreign concept, and it's it's kind of getting away from like it's a destination.
00:28:11.599 --> 00:28:16.960
Yes, because I'm as I'm speaking to you, it's processing, and I'm like, oh, this is the challenge.
00:28:17.200 --> 00:28:20.880
I still feel being is a destination, yeah.
00:28:21.200 --> 00:28:24.160
Like it's like, oh, well, when I get to the mat, I've got a be.
00:28:24.400 --> 00:28:26.079
And then I'm like, how do I be?
00:28:26.319 --> 00:28:35.759
I'm I you know, all of the chit chatter, and it's just like the first time I remember meditating, I was so uncomfortable.
00:28:36.160 --> 00:28:38.960
It was like being, I was uncomfortable.
00:28:39.039 --> 00:28:44.319
I got I actually got very anxious and had to stop meditating because it was too much for my body to be.
00:28:44.480 --> 00:28:45.920
I didn't know what that was.
00:28:46.400 --> 00:28:57.279
And it's it's like as an like as an instructor, are you aware of the struggle that's happening when you're you're in the room with the others?
00:28:57.359 --> 00:29:06.640
And are you aware of like, oh, that that let me see if I can support someone on the journey to the being as the instructor?
00:29:06.799 --> 00:29:11.599
Because you're seeing, you know, Nina looking around being like, how come she's doing it like that?
00:29:11.759 --> 00:29:13.279
And I'm not being able to do it.
00:29:13.359 --> 00:29:20.319
Like, does that do you are you addressing that or is are you allowing for uh a conversation or a space?
00:29:20.480 --> 00:29:23.119
I know you in the practice you don't do it on the room in the room.
00:29:23.200 --> 00:29:25.920
Well, we do do it in the room, absolutely okay.
00:29:26.160 --> 00:29:28.319
I've never heard anyone say anything before.
00:29:28.640 --> 00:29:34.960
Because if it's your struggle, it's really probable that it's somebody else's struggle too.
00:29:35.599 --> 00:29:40.000
And so, yes, my classes, we definitely open up the room at any time.
00:29:40.160 --> 00:29:53.599
I don't care if we're in downward dog or in child's pose, if something is feeling uncomfortable, like it needs to release what it is, let's bring it up, let's bring it out because somebody else is probably feeling that way.
00:29:54.240 --> 00:30:01.440
And for me, the way I the way I do it is to know that these are my struggles too.
00:30:03.200 --> 00:30:19.039
I I am not perfect, I I am um I'm I'm the the yoga teacher, but I'm really here for suggestions on how you can align within your body when what what it feels right for you.
00:30:21.279 --> 00:30:28.400
Here's what the shape can look like, but maybe you need four blocks and a strap.
00:30:29.039 --> 00:30:38.160
You know, maybe you need some some props, maybe you're you're not going into um the triangle pose that the person next to you is going into.
00:30:38.240 --> 00:30:42.640
Maybe yours is you know just a wide and strong, you know, with a little twist.
00:30:42.880 --> 00:30:45.119
Your pose is your pose.
00:30:45.599 --> 00:30:51.759
You get to where your body is today, and tomorrow we'll get to where it is tomorrow.
00:30:52.240 --> 00:30:53.599
I love that.
00:30:53.839 --> 00:30:54.480
Yeah, yeah.
00:30:54.640 --> 00:31:18.000
I it and as you're speaking, even in my body now, I can feel myself shifting because I'm giving my body permission to be where it is and how it is at that moment, which is exactly what being is with everything as we become more aware.
00:31:18.240 --> 00:31:22.160
Um, Nina, as you were saying, it feels like a destination.
00:31:22.319 --> 00:31:26.720
I yes, most people do believe it's a destination.
00:31:27.039 --> 00:31:33.119
And I was also thinking as you were talking, Renee, you might need props.
00:31:33.200 --> 00:31:36.000
And how long is that going to take before you get into the perfect pose?
00:31:36.079 --> 00:31:39.759
You know, the monkey brain starts going, is that gonna be a year, maybe two years?
00:31:40.000 --> 00:31:58.079
Hmm, if it did it twice a day, you know, all of that stuff goes on, and then the realization came as you were speaking, the practice of yoga and meditation is the practice of just being.
00:31:58.400 --> 00:32:06.079
And when you are in a place of just being, there is no time or space that anything needs to happen.
00:32:06.480 --> 00:32:08.799
It's just being.
00:32:08.960 --> 00:32:13.920
So it's it's what I call the true definition of being in your flow.
00:32:14.480 --> 00:32:16.480
Yes, absolutely.
00:32:16.720 --> 00:32:19.200
I couldn't, I couldn't have said it better than myself.
00:32:20.559 --> 00:32:46.400
Yeah, and and so my I I I'm telling you, Renee, this is phenomenal because you know, because I danced for so many years, I had so many injuries and all this stuff, and uh on and off for years, it has been, oh, I need to, you know, lose some weight, and I've got to get back into exercise and I need to be walking more, and maybe I should jog and all of this stuff.
00:32:46.559 --> 00:32:55.519
I need to, I need to, I need to, okay, I'll do this for a little while, and then well, okay, well, maybe jogging lasted for three days because now I'm exhausted.
00:32:55.680 --> 00:33:06.480
I'll give my body a break, and oh, I can't go back to it because I still have that tweaked knee and I my back is still bothering me, and oh now I got a headache, and you know, whatever's going on, right?
00:33:06.720 --> 00:33:08.640
Right, you're shitting on yourself.
00:33:08.799 --> 00:33:42.880
Yeah, uh yeah, I'm shitting on myself, yes, but in this conversation, it becomes something very different because on some deeper levels, I have been quote unquote afraid to re-injure myself in ways that I have been that have been uncomfortable, will be painful, a lot of different things that you go through.
00:33:43.200 --> 00:33:48.160
And so I've the mind says, Oh no, we have to protect, we have to protect the body.
00:33:48.319 --> 00:33:49.519
So we can't do that.
00:33:49.759 --> 00:34:01.839
We have to protect what's gonna happen here because it's gonna be awful, you know, all of that stuff, and but as you're speaking, it's like it's it's melting away.
00:34:02.319 --> 00:34:14.800
All of all of that, the the anxiousness around it, all of the um it's gonna be too hard, I can't do it perfectly, I should do it more, how long is it gonna take?
00:34:14.960 --> 00:34:16.960
When can I reach my goal?
00:34:17.679 --> 00:34:22.239
That's everything that's outside of just being.
00:34:25.760 --> 00:34:26.800
So thank you.
00:34:27.039 --> 00:34:48.239
I'm also thanking my mind and my body for the permission, and which also puts a whole different um perspective and awareness on what yoga really brings to our life in every aspect.
00:34:48.400 --> 00:34:52.079
It brings us to our life, is really what it does.
00:34:53.519 --> 00:34:54.239
Wow, okay.
00:34:56.880 --> 00:34:58.000
It's so interesting.
00:34:58.159 --> 00:35:00.159
Sorry, go ahead, Renee.
00:35:00.480 --> 00:35:08.079
Well, I was just gonna say that it's just that the alignment of yoga isn't about achieving, it's about allowing.
00:35:09.760 --> 00:35:13.519
And that that is exactly what what you just said, Lynn.
00:35:13.599 --> 00:35:16.719
And I I just um yeah, thank you.
00:35:16.960 --> 00:35:22.480
It's it's so wonderful to you know to hear that awareness come through.
00:35:23.119 --> 00:35:24.320
Thank you for sharing that.
00:35:25.199 --> 00:35:39.519
I am thinking, you know, the three of us, I'm gonna talk about the three of us because of the conversation that we're having and knowing that we are all grounded in performance or have been, right?
00:35:40.000 --> 00:35:51.679
Needing to get somewhere, someplace, not always being some like being someone to get there, it's the it's this performance-driven mindset that we tend to have, right?
00:35:51.920 --> 00:35:56.719
Lynn, you're an entrepreneur, you know, they're obviously back somewhere in the background.
00:35:56.880 --> 00:36:01.280
There is things need you need to get things done, and things need to happen and things need to move.
00:36:01.440 --> 00:36:10.559
And my question is if someone like us, we're performers, now tend to take something like yoga where we can be.
00:36:10.800 --> 00:36:14.880
Do you think that enhances our performance?
00:36:15.199 --> 00:36:16.960
You took the words right out of my mouth.
00:36:17.119 --> 00:36:30.880
I thought you were talking, but wait, but yes, absolutely, because you know, we're really in this whole flight or fight all of the time.
00:36:31.119 --> 00:36:31.599
Yes.
00:36:31.920 --> 00:36:41.760
And even when we we sit down, we close our eyes, we're like, okay, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna sit down, I'm gonna breathe for five minutes, you know, we're our monkey mind is still going.
00:36:41.840 --> 00:36:44.719
So we're never really getting out of that flight or fight.
00:36:45.039 --> 00:37:03.840
But when we allow our bodies to open up on the mat, when we sit for meditation, when we allow that nervous system to truly, that's the hard part, to truly calm, that's when things happen.
00:37:04.880 --> 00:37:09.440
Because your creativity starts to flow again, those blocks start to fall off.
00:37:09.599 --> 00:37:16.079
And oh, you can see what the the you know the the path to the next thing now.
00:37:16.400 --> 00:37:26.719
So by allowing the nervous system to quiet, by letting go of society, we truly allow for expansion.
00:37:28.000 --> 00:38:00.639
So I do say that the the women who are are entrepreneurs that are running corporate businesses, who are moms running their children's lives, by stopping and slowing down just that little bit, just one hour, even if you're taking a five-minute meditation a couple of times a day, really stopping allowing the nervous system to calm down, you're really giving yourself the opportunity to flourish and grow.
00:38:02.480 --> 00:38:02.960
Yes.
00:38:03.360 --> 00:38:05.440
That's great news for all of us performers.
00:38:05.679 --> 00:38:06.880
It is, it is.
00:38:07.119 --> 00:38:31.599
And when we think when we think about it, I I believe everyone has experience or experiences in their lives, even at little snapshot snapshot moments, snapshot moments, um where when we do just take a moment, like you said, to let the nervous system calm down.
00:38:32.400 --> 00:38:40.960
You first mentioned creativity, and I'm like, yeah, that's where you know everything just starts moving and coming into place.
00:38:41.039 --> 00:39:02.159
And oh yes, this is the next thing that needs to happen, and the next thing it again, I think all of us that that happens to, as you were speaking, I'm thinking I was thinking of myself in LA being in the middle of traffic most of the time, and uh your transaction's 10 minutes, but it took you an hour to get there, you know, it's that kind of thing.
00:39:02.480 --> 00:39:06.320
And um how okay, I gotta get there, gotta get there.
00:39:06.400 --> 00:39:07.199
I don't have a lot of time.
00:39:07.360 --> 00:39:09.119
Dog got it, this traffic is crazy.
00:39:09.280 --> 00:39:16.719
And you're you know, when you in that that heightened space, which creates stress, it's the fight or flight.
00:39:17.119 --> 00:39:18.400
And what happens?
00:39:18.559 --> 00:39:22.079
The slowest person on the road always moves in front of you.
00:39:22.400 --> 00:39:29.199
You move to another lane, and then that person wants to stop because they're not sure where they're going.
00:39:29.760 --> 00:39:43.760
You know, but when you are just relaxed and just allowing yourself the space to just get there and be present, isn't it amazing how you get there in less time than you thought?
00:39:44.000 --> 00:39:44.880
Right, right.
00:39:45.360 --> 00:39:48.480
And that that's what I was thinking about what you were saying.
00:39:48.639 --> 00:39:50.400
I think that's an example of it.
00:39:50.880 --> 00:39:58.639
And I think that every time that car pulls in front of you and slows down, that you move into the next lane and it starts slowing down.
00:39:58.800 --> 00:40:00.239
That is your cue.
00:40:00.639 --> 00:40:05.599
That is your cue to go, okay, I'll get there when I get there.
00:40:06.559 --> 00:40:08.880
And that is when you get there faster.
00:40:10.960 --> 00:40:13.599
Not stressed, ready to be there.
00:40:15.039 --> 00:40:16.800
Yes, yes.
00:40:18.159 --> 00:40:20.079
Wow, this has been fabulous.
00:40:20.320 --> 00:40:23.280
Well, I uh Renee, thank you so much.
00:40:23.519 --> 00:40:34.719
Um you have expanded me in more ways than you know, which you had started have started to already from the classes that I was doing with you.
00:40:35.199 --> 00:40:43.920
Um it's but this this adds a whole deeper level of of meaning and awareness.
00:40:44.000 --> 00:40:53.440
It's it goes beyond understanding because it is resonating, you know, in throughout my entire space on every level.
00:40:53.760 --> 00:41:02.559
And um so just God bless you for what you do and how you're able to bring that forward.
00:41:02.719 --> 00:41:07.360
I just I I marvel at it and I appreciate it very much.
00:41:07.760 --> 00:41:17.519
Yeah, I really just got Renee that it's you know, a lot of times you go to the gym and they have yoga classes at the gym, or you're going there because many of us are.
00:41:18.320 --> 00:41:21.840
I'm gonna say many of us, I'm talking about my circle of influence.
00:41:22.000 --> 00:41:22.639
That's what I mean.
00:41:22.800 --> 00:41:25.760
That's what I mean by many of us, the people that I know.
00:41:26.000 --> 00:41:31.840
A lot of times we don't say we're going to a yoga class because we want to learn how to be.
00:41:32.880 --> 00:41:40.880
Many of us are like, I'm gonna go to power yoga, I'm gonna hot yoga, I'm gonna go this yoga, that yoga, that yoga, so that you know I can get fit, I can get strong, I can stretch.
00:41:41.519 --> 00:41:43.840
That's the conversation we're having.
00:41:44.000 --> 00:42:02.079
And today, what I actually got is it's if I were to look at it from it's a place to learn how to connect with myself, how to be, it it wouldn't feel like I had to be perfect.
00:42:03.519 --> 00:42:10.880
So thank you for that awareness that you know for me, yoga is not about exercise, right?
00:42:11.280 --> 00:42:19.039
It can be, but it's it's really meant for me to be a human being.
00:42:19.440 --> 00:42:22.320
Yes, yes, absolutely.
00:42:22.719 --> 00:42:33.360
And you know, that is the great thing is that when you find that human being inside, the weight starts to come off, the strength comes in.
00:42:33.840 --> 00:42:41.679
That's when your body starts to perform when it's happy and it's not in flight or fright all of the time.
00:42:42.079 --> 00:42:49.760
It's got moments where it can rest and restore, you know, people who are going to the gym and doing all of the things and lifting the weights and all of that.
00:42:50.000 --> 00:43:00.800
If they're not taking the time to calm their nervous system to really go within, they're not really building sustainable muscle.
00:43:01.519 --> 00:43:14.960
They might be building momentary muscle, but the minute that they stop, that's gonna that's gonna subside because their body is just doing what it's told to do instead of what it is able to do.
00:43:16.480 --> 00:43:18.480
Yeah, so thank you, ladies.
00:43:18.559 --> 00:43:19.840
This has been so much fun.
00:43:20.079 --> 00:43:21.440
Oh, isn't it awesome?
00:43:22.159 --> 00:43:43.119
Yes, and this and this is just the first episode that we we have so much more to share and to learn and hear from uh from Renee Green and just her um the amazing way she works and helping people to connect with themselves, to heal, to uh really just be.
00:43:43.599 --> 00:43:49.280
So I would say you teach human beings the beingness of who they are.
00:43:49.840 --> 00:43:50.719
I'll take that.
00:43:50.880 --> 00:43:51.440
Yeah, okay.
00:43:51.920 --> 00:43:54.719
