00:00:02.160 --> 00:00:07.919
When your heart is broken by loss, grief can become very loud.
00:00:08.240 --> 00:00:12.480
But what if you could answer the lies grief whispers with truth?
00:00:12.720 --> 00:00:22.320
Today I want to give you a declaration for your broken heart, a reminder that you can grieve deeply and still hold on to hope.
00:00:24.000 --> 00:00:30.640
Welcome back to Grief Deception, a space for honest conversation about loss, faith, and healing.
00:00:30.800 --> 00:00:32.159
I'm Debbie Jordan.
00:00:32.479 --> 00:00:38.399
After our son Ryan died in 1985, grief reshaped our family's story.
00:00:38.640 --> 00:00:47.119
Over time, God used that journey to deepen my heart for others who were hurting and to inspire my book and this podcast.
00:00:48.240 --> 00:00:53.920
When we're grieving, our hearts can become vulnerable to the lies grief whispers.
00:00:54.159 --> 00:00:55.600
I'll never be okay.
00:00:55.840 --> 00:00:57.679
I'll never feel joy again.
00:00:57.840 --> 00:00:58.799
I'm alone.
00:00:59.039 --> 00:01:00.560
I can't do this.
00:01:00.960 --> 00:01:03.679
But grief doesn't tell the truth.
00:01:03.920 --> 00:01:06.879
So today I want to do something a little different.
00:01:07.120 --> 00:01:10.480
I want to speak truth to our broken hearts.
00:01:10.799 --> 00:01:21.920
These words aren't meant to deny your pain, they're meant to help you acknowledge the pain while remembering where your hope, comfort, and strength come from.
00:01:23.200 --> 00:01:30.640
So if you're grieving, listen slowly, and when you need these words, make them your very own.
00:01:30.959 --> 00:01:36.239
Allow my husband Dennis to speak the declaration over you.
00:01:38.879 --> 00:01:41.840
This is the brokenhearted declaration.
00:01:42.079 --> 00:01:50.879
I will face this loss in my own unique way, but I will not face it alone because Christ is with me in my suffering.
00:01:51.200 --> 00:01:54.000
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.
00:01:54.239 --> 00:02:00.000
I will move towards healing and wholeness, trusting God to heal my broken heart.
00:02:00.319 --> 00:02:04.480
He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds.
00:02:04.719 --> 00:02:11.919
I will remember my loss, and I will invite Christ into my pain rather than trying to carry it alone.
00:02:12.240 --> 00:02:18.240
Jesus said, Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
00:02:18.639 --> 00:02:23.599
I know Christ understands suffering, he is familiar with grief and sorrow.
00:02:23.840 --> 00:02:29.439
He was despised and rejected, a man of suffering and familiar with pain.
00:02:29.680 --> 00:02:36.400
I will have faith in what I cannot see, and I will not allow uncertainty to steal my hope.
00:02:36.639 --> 00:02:42.400
Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
00:02:42.800 --> 00:02:47.599
I understand that mourning is a process, it has no specific timetable.
00:02:47.840 --> 00:02:54.000
I will give myself permission to grieve, knowing that God can meet me in my mourning.
00:02:54.319 --> 00:02:59.039
Jesus said, Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
00:02:59.520 --> 00:03:06.080
Even when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear, because you are with me.
00:03:06.879 --> 00:03:08.719
And that is my hope.
00:03:08.960 --> 00:03:14.479
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.
00:03:14.879 --> 00:03:16.159
That is my comfort.
00:03:16.400 --> 00:03:22.639
The God of all comfort comforts us in all our troubles, and that is my promise.
00:03:22.879 --> 00:03:27.520
Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
00:03:27.840 --> 00:03:33.039
I may not know when that morning will come, I may not understand why this happened.
00:03:33.280 --> 00:03:48.719
I may still have tears to cry and questions without answers, but I can choose to trust God one day at a time, because my loss is real, my tears are real, my pain is real, but so is my hope.
00:03:49.039 --> 00:03:58.960
God is with me, God sees me, God comforts me, God is not finished with my story, and one day the promise will be complete.
00:03:59.280 --> 00:04:02.719
He will wipe away tears from their eyes.
00:04:02.879 --> 00:04:06.639
There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.
00:04:06.879 --> 00:04:10.800
So when grief whispers its lies, I answer with truth.
00:04:11.039 --> 00:04:18.480
I am not alone, I am not forgotten, there is still hope, and grief does not get the final word.
00:04:19.040 --> 00:04:19.680
Amen.
00:04:20.240 --> 00:04:22.160
That is my declaration.
00:04:24.639 --> 00:04:27.600
And perhaps today it can be yours too.
00:04:27.759 --> 00:04:32.800
I've included a printable download of this declaration in the show notes.
00:04:33.040 --> 00:04:35.759
