Speaker 1: Hour, the five things you need to know from Sybil Wilkes.
00:00:56
Speaker 4: Thank you, kind sir. All right, guys, let us pray. Lord Jesus, we thank you for this day. Thank you for waking us up this morning. Lord, we start our day with you, surrendering and submitting to you with your joy and your love and your peace.
00:01:07
Speaker 1: So go with us as we go through the rest of this day.
00:01:09
Speaker 4: Keep us safe from all hurt, harm and danger from all incidents and accidents. Father, wrap your arms of protection around us. We push back the darkness. Satan, we bind you. You have no place, power, or authority in the name of Jesus. Cover us and our family, our loved ones, our cities, our homes, our churches, our relationships, our minds, and our ministries.
00:01:27
Speaker 1: In Jesus' mighty name I pray. Thank God.
00:01:29
Speaker 6: Amen.
00:01:30
Speaker 2: Amen.
00:01:31
Speaker 5: All right, guys.
00:01:32

00:01:39

00:01:41
Speaker 3: We are with you.
00:01:43
Speaker 7: You know.
00:01:43
Speaker 3: Five things you need to know on Get Up Morning.
00:01:48
Speaker 1: All right, Sybil's back with what we need to know today. Good morning, Sybil.
00:01:52
Speaker 8: It's Sybil Wilkes with what we need to know. History is on the line in this year's U.S. Senate races. Now, since 1789, only one of every 400 U.S.
00:02:04
Speaker 1: Senators has been a black woman.
00:02:06
Speaker 8: Angela Also Brooks of Maryland and Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware recently became the first two black women to serve at the same time. Illinois Lieutenant Governor Julianna Stratton is set to join them. And if Florida's Angie Nixon wins, four black women will. We'll be right back. He would be the first black person to hold that seat since PBS Pinchback, who was elected in 1873, but never allowed to take the seat that he earned. The cost of the Iran war to the American taxpayer has grown to an estimated forty seven point one. billion dollars the pentagon's latest figure to congress as of october 16th is up three and a half billion dollars since early september and the cost has become a key issue in the midterm elections with the war now eight months old most voters say they want congress to prioritize ending it from our good news file beyonce's be good foundation awarded 25 000 to.

00:03:50
Speaker 1: I'm Sybil Wilkes. Be informed. Be empowered. Thank you, Sybil.
00:03:54
Speaker 9: If you're celebrating your birthday, you're celebrating today with Tracy Ellis Ross, with Gabrielle.
00:03:59
Speaker 1: Union, Melba Moore.
00:04:01
Speaker 9: Randy Jackson from the Jackson 5.
00:04:04
Speaker 1: Also, Pastor Quinn Battle. His birthday is today.
00:04:08
Speaker 9: Special birthday shout-out to producer Kevin Bond and my good friend Gerard Barner. And if it's your birthday, well, birthday shout-outs are up in 15 minutes. You'll have a chance to shout them out right here on Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
00:04:20
Speaker 1: Get up, get up, got a lot to do.
00:04:21
Speaker 4: That's what it's all about.
00:04:28
Speaker 2: Oh, oh, oh. You're listening to Get Up.
00:04:31
Speaker 6: Mornings with Erica Campbell.
00:04:33
Speaker 1: Faith Walk. With Erica Campbell.
00:04:36
Speaker 3: Right now.
00:04:37
Speaker 6: Amen. The Faith Walk.
00:04:40
Speaker 4: Yes, it is time for the faith walk of the day. And today I want to talk about forgiveness. Yes, forgiveness. The way the Bible talks about it over is not simply overlooking an offense.
00:04:52
Speaker 1: It's it's sending it away. It's sending it to the cross.
00:04:56
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:04:56
Speaker 1: You know where Jesus forgave you.
00:04:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, right there. That's where we are sending it. God never told you to protect yourself in unforgiveness. Definitely does not protect you even from from a medical perspective. I had a friend who was battling cancer and the doctor literally asked.
00:05:10
Speaker 1: Him, is there somebody you need to forgive? Is there something you need to let go of?
00:05:15
Speaker 4: Because holding that stuff in your mind and your heart literally causes your body to fight against itself. So my prayer for you today is that your heart is anchored in forgiveness, just as Christ has forgiven us. You can ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where the bitterness is, where the resentment is, where that anger lies, where the rebelliousness, where the offense lies. And I know when you feel like nothing is done about it, you feel justified in carrying a little bit of forgiveness. We say things that just mean I only forgive you just a little bit. But if I want all of God, then I have to I have to give everything. what I think I'm using to protect myself. And I pray that you have the strength to do that, to remember that release equals strength. That letting go means I'm trusting the strength of God. I'm trusting the power of God. I'm trusting the favor of God. I'm trusting that God will vindicate and take care of what I cannot. And so I pray that you have the strength to forgive today.
00:06:12
Speaker 1: Is it easy? No, I know we've all been there, you know, in him.
00:06:16
Speaker 4: Do we find redemption through the blood and the forgiveness of sins according to his.
00:06:21
Speaker 1: Riches and glory is what the word tells us.
00:06:23
Speaker 4: So let's make sure that we are praying for strength to forgive and let go. You know, some of you come to church and sit in with anger and unforgiveness in your heart to the person is supposed to be your pastor.
00:06:34
Speaker 1: Lord, have mercy. God forbid.
00:06:36
Speaker 3: So I'm praying for you.
00:06:37
Speaker 1: Your ability forgives. I mean, you bad.
00:06:39
Speaker 4: It's because you didn't leave the song mad because you got kicked off of the usher board. Not not you, Cheryl.
00:06:45
Speaker 1: Amen.
00:06:45
Speaker 4: You mad because it wasn't your assignment. Many people have said no to me. Many people have said, no, we don't. That's not really what we live for. If I hold forgiveness in my heart, they moved on with my life. I got a personal prison because I decided to keep them in my mind.
00:07:02
Speaker 1: No, don't do it. Get free. Get free today. You don't understand, Erica.
00:07:06
Speaker 6: I know.
00:07:06
Speaker 1: I just know.
00:07:07
Speaker 3: I don't understand.
00:07:08
Speaker 1: I don't.
00:07:08
Speaker 3: I don't.
00:07:09
Speaker 4: But I know what the scripture says. And if I believe God, I'm going to believe him all the way. I'm going to believe his power to heal my heart and heal my mind and allow me to.
00:07:17
Speaker 1: Walk in freedom. And literally the joy of the Lord is my strength.
00:07:22
Speaker 4: Strength from joy like imagine that you laughing and smiling and getting stronger in the lord because you have confidence in him not in the situation not in the person you're not trying to fix it he never told you to trust people anyway he said trust in the lord with all your heart All right.
00:07:38
Speaker 1: That's it. I'm done for the day. That's the Faith Walk.
00:07:40
Speaker 4: Love you and I mean it. Now it's birthday shout out time. 877-242-2426.
00:07:44

00:13:12
Speaker 1: She was a fool. Here it is. Here it is on Get Up Mornings.
00:13:17
Speaker 14: In Genesis 19, God told Abraham that he would spare the city of Sodom if there.
00:13:24
Speaker 1: Was at least one righteous man. There wasn't one.
00:13:30
Speaker 5: So Abraham told Locke he needed to leave the city immediately.
00:13:37
Speaker 3: Okay, okay, everybody get your stuff.
00:13:38
Speaker 5: Uncle Abraham just told me we have to get out of the city right now.
00:13:42
Speaker 3: Babe, what you doing?
00:13:43
Speaker 1: I like this paint we put on the walls. You know, I like it here in Sodom.
00:13:46
Speaker 3: It's so nice. No, no, no, no.
00:13:47
Speaker 1: I got some good friends here.
00:13:49
Speaker 2: No, no.
00:13:50
Speaker 1: You know, I want to have a social next week.
00:13:51
Speaker 3: Babe.
00:13:53
Speaker 5: Listen, Uncle Abraham just said the Lord is going to send brimstone and fire to Sodom today.
00:13:59
Speaker 3: We have to leave right now, sweetheart. Get everything. Let's go.
00:14:03
Speaker 1: Slow down, Lot. Slow down. He's a good God. Why would he do that? It's nice when we're here. We just set up this nice tent. It's nice. We're going to have people over.
00:14:12
Speaker 6: Hold on.
00:14:12
Speaker 13: Hold on.
00:14:13
Speaker 1: Hold on.
00:14:13
Speaker 3: You smell that? That is fire. We got to go. Get the kids.
00:14:18
Speaker 1: Somebody probably just doing a sacrifice. They just making a sacrifice. We fine. We fine. Why you so nervous? Just chill out.
00:14:24
Speaker 3: Did you hear that?
00:14:26
Speaker 5: That is actually brimstone, sweetheart. We got to go. Just get the stuff.
00:14:30
Speaker 1: Let's not talk. I don't want to leave.
00:14:32
Speaker 5: This is an evil city. Uncle Abraham just said we got to get out of here today.
00:14:37
Speaker 3: Right now. Let's go. I'm going to grab my... Where is my.
00:14:40
Speaker 1: I cannot.
00:14:41
Speaker 9: I cannot with this man. I... I like this tent. I like my friends. I like this city. I do not want to go.
00:14:48
Speaker 5: Do you like the smell of smoke? Do you see what's around us right now?
00:14:52
Speaker 3: This is smoke. This is not a party. This is smoke right now.
00:14:56
Speaker 1: I don't smell nothing.
00:14:58
Speaker 5: Okay, how about this? Kids, get your mom. We're going to go. We have to leave right now. We're going to go this way.
00:15:04
Speaker 1: Wait, but I don't want.
00:15:05
Speaker 3: Babe, we're going to go this way. Just follow me.
00:15:08
Speaker 5: Oh, Abraham also said we cannot turn around. Once we leave, we can't turn around. So let's go.
00:15:14
Speaker 3: We got to go. Get your stuff. Everybody grab something. So even later, after they packed. All right, y'all, let's go. Now, listen, remember, no one turn around. We can't turn around.
00:15:25
Speaker 1: We have the donkeys. We have the sheeps.
00:15:27
Speaker 3: We got everything, sweetheart.
00:15:29
Speaker 1: Everybody got their stuff.
00:15:30
Speaker 3: Listen, this is not a good time.
00:15:32
Speaker 1: I don't get to say bye to my friends. I need you to focus. I'm focused. I packed up. Okay, I packed up. We leaving. I'm just saying. Can I be sad?
00:15:41
Speaker 3: All right, let's go.
00:15:42
Speaker 5: We going straight towards that mountain right there. No one turn around.
00:15:46
Speaker 3: Okay, everybody. Kids, let's go.
00:15:48
Speaker 6: All right.
00:15:48
Speaker 1: Don't. Y'all go ahead. Go ahead.
00:15:52
Speaker 3: Let me. Babe, you better come on.
00:15:54
Speaker 1: I'm coming.
00:15:55
Speaker 3: For real.
00:15:56
Speaker 8: Wait.
00:15:57
Speaker 1: I left my jewelry box. Let me. Let me turn around.
00:16:07
Speaker 3: Hey, where's your mom? Where's your mom? No, I'm going to go back. Okay, I see her. I see her right there.
00:16:12
Speaker 5: Oh, babe, I told you to come on.
00:16:18
Speaker 3: You done turned into some salt.
00:16:22
Speaker 5: Let me just grab a piece of your elbow because we don't never know if we're going to need some salt.
00:16:26
Speaker 3: Kids, I told y'all, y'all can't. You must listen to your dad.
00:16:32
Speaker 9: The moral of this story is when God tells you to go, don't turn around.
00:16:37
Speaker 1: Keep moving forward. And if you do decide to turn around, we will use you.
00:16:43
Speaker 3: On French fries. How about that?
00:16:48
Speaker 6: See?
00:16:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, you were right.
00:16:50
Speaker 1: She was a fool. Why you look bad, girl? Why you look bad?
00:16:56
Speaker 6: I know.
00:16:57
Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Listen, y'all.
00:16:59
Speaker 4: Get into the word of God. Let it change and transform your life.
00:17:02
Speaker 1: We got more on the way. The Erica-ism is up next on Get Up Mornings.
00:17:15
Speaker 2: You're listening to Get Up Mornings. The Erica-ism of the day.
00:17:21
Speaker 1: On Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
00:17:23
Speaker 4: Yes, it's time for the Erica-ism and today I want to talk about pacing yourself. You know, when you get excited about something and you have new information and it's information that you absolutely want to share, whether it is finding out something about the insurance or, you know, some new revelation in scripture. I want to talk about pacing yourself. Sometimes when you are excited and you want to give everybody everything, if you give it in a way where they can't receive it because it feels a little intense, you know what I mean?
00:17:52
Speaker 1: Maybe even overbearing a little bit.
00:17:54
Speaker 4: Take your time and ask God to show you how to give them information in a way that they can receive it. Because if I give you something that I feel is valuable and you're not in the position of receiving it, I may be offended because of your response. But I think that you should always find out the capacity and where people are in their ability to receive information. You know, I have people in my life that just they just pick up the phone and start talking. They don't ask, are you busy? They don't ask, do you have time? They don't ask any of that. They just start talking. And so, you know, when you're in a big family, you just kind of have to adjust. But as adults, you do have the right to say, hey, give me, I don't have capacity for that right now.
00:18:32
Speaker 1: Give me a moment.
00:18:33
Speaker 4: Or if you just want to say, hey, I'm a little busy. Let me create a moment where I can give you my undivided attention. I think it allows you to give them whatever you want to give them in your excitable way, whatever that is. But also have them really listen and not sitting there trying to figure out when you're going to hurry up and finish. Just because you're excited doesn't mean they're excited. And that's not offensive.
00:18:55
Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
00:18:56
Speaker 4: I mean, I'm trying to help y'all be better. So now you want to beat them up with good information. That doesn't work either. You have to make sure that they're in a position to receive it. You know, whether this is parents talking to older children, trying to give them good advice, you should at least create a space where they feel like I can listen, not just I'm being yelled at or I'm just being given something and being judged if I don't get it in the way you want me to get it. You know, everybody doesn't do this. I'm just offering this advice because it's something that I use. Honestly, I did not always know how to do this because I was always worried about somebody's feeling.
00:19:30
Speaker 1: They're going to be offended. They're going to be offended. So I don't have time.
00:19:33
Speaker 4: I'm not really listening because I have something else to do just to appease their feelings. Well, that's not smart either. I think that you can always speak your truth in love, whether you are talking to a parent, a sibling, or even a spouse.
00:19:44
Speaker 1: You know, babe, give me a minute. Let me clear my head.
00:19:46
Speaker 4: I had this and this and this planned because when I tell you one, one, to have an idea, he's just going to give it to you. And I have to tell him I have three other really important things in my brain. Let me clear that out, and then I'll have space for you to really pay attention. And it's really not so much about them. It's about you being able to express it in a way they receive it. Because no one loves giving great information that nobody wanted to hear. Or they didn't have time to hear. Or they were consumed in paying attention to something else. So just make sure you have a good audience when you talk. Make sure that their heart and mind is ready to receive. So they receive it with joy and not rolling their eyes and smacking their teeth. Because maybe you always have great information. And they weren't able to apply the last information. And then you give them two more informations. I know, bad English, but you understand what I'm saying. Two more rounds of great things to pay attention to. And, you know, and then they haven't caught up yet. Sometimes it literally takes time for your brain to hear something multiple times to even be able to see it and articulate it yourself before it sets in and takes place. That's actually like a real thing, especially in marketing. If you're giving somebody something, you can't expect them to hear it one time and remember everything, especially if there's a lot of details. So making sure that you have space and they have the capacity.
00:20:55
Speaker 1: To hear it.
00:20:56
Speaker 4: And then remember, you're going to have to say it again, right? So they remember. The same way you're not going to remember every single thing I said right now. Yeah, just like that.
00:21:04
Speaker 1: You got to tell them again. Let's get up mornings, y'all. That's my Erica-ism of the day. Love you and I mean.
00:21:18
Speaker 2: It. You're listening to Get Up.
00:21:19
Speaker 9: Morning.
00:21:22
Speaker 1: Let the church say amen.
00:21:25
Speaker 10: Amen.
00:21:25
Speaker 6: Amen. It's time for Joys and Concerns on Get Up Morning.
00:21:29
Speaker 4: Well, saints of the Most High God, we are coming to you live from the Get Up Church of our Lord, Baptista Non-Denominational, Denominational, A-M-E-C-M-E-E-N-G-L-M-N-O-P, Apostolic Church of God in Christ.
00:21:42
Speaker 1: All right, Brother Griff, let the Lord use you.
00:21:44
Speaker 3: Thank you, FLP.
00:21:46
Speaker 1: You're welcome.
00:21:49
Speaker 5: First, give an honor to God who's the head of my life.
00:21:52
Speaker 1: I'd like to say.
00:21:54
Speaker 5: I'm glad to be in the house of the Lord one more.
00:21:57
Speaker 6: Time, Elder Sherrill.
00:21:59
Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
00:22:00
Speaker 3: Because he brought me.
00:22:01
Speaker 5: From a mighty, mighty long way.
00:22:04
Speaker 3: I could have been dead. Sleeping in the grave, but God is good.
00:22:09
Speaker 1: All the time. And all the time. God is good.
00:22:14
Speaker 3: Yes, yes. Shout out to Ree.
00:22:17
Speaker 5: It was Ree's daughter when she was about four or five who said, oh, you and your wife.
00:22:21
Speaker 1: Are so romantical.
00:22:24
Speaker 6: I love that little girl.
00:22:26
Speaker 5: And speaking of my wife, I love me some Le Nica Finay, okay? Le Nica Finay is, you know, when you're married and you, we wasn't even going through a bad time, but we in such a good space right now. And I love this space. Like, man, it is laughing. Y'all know what me. So I'm very competitive.
00:22:48
Speaker 3: I'm sarcastic. And my wife ain't none of those things. Right.
00:22:53
Speaker 5: But lately she has been very funny. Like, you know, shut up boy and go do the trash. Like when she tells me to shut up, I walk away. I love her so much when she talked to me like that. I, I don't know what to call it, I mean, all people in a relationship know, you just know when your relationship is hitting all the things, and sometimes in marriage, they don't hit like that as often, but right now I'm in a really good space when it's just like, love, love, love, love, love, and we on our Zephaniah 316 through 18 right now, and that's The Lord your God is with you. His power gives you victory. The Lord will take delight in you. And in his love, he will give you new life.
00:23:41
Speaker 3: Come on.
00:23:41
Speaker 1: Give me new life, Lord.
00:23:44
Speaker 3: Loving on my wife now.
00:23:45
Speaker 1: Somebody in that car right now saying, Griff, what was that?
00:23:47
Speaker 5: It's Zephaniah 316 through 18. You get to say, ain't he all right? Somebody else is saying, you better hit on all them things, Griff. I know that's what I'm saying. I'm saying, ain't he all right? But if you like me and you know, I love my wife.
00:24:12
Speaker 1: I love it. Come on, sir. Read your word.
00:24:16
Speaker 3: I love it. Amen.
00:24:18
Speaker 1: It's true, Griff. You have great, great seasons. You be like, man, ain't everybody happy? We all just happy, aren't we? Sometimes people be looking at you like they're crazy.
00:24:28
Speaker 6: Right.
00:24:29
Speaker 1: It's still in my joy. You're not going to celebrate those seasons, honey. Really.
00:24:32
Speaker 6: Celebrate them.
00:24:33
Speaker 5: We got 30 over there and 25 over there and our little coming up on six.
00:24:38
Speaker 3: Come on.
00:24:39
Speaker 5: Nobody remembers six when you be married over 20 years.
00:24:43
Speaker 1: You don't remember it. Come on with the happy, happy, joy, joy.
00:24:45
Speaker 5: Yes.
00:24:46

Speaker 1: Very nice.
00:25:25

00:26:06
Speaker 1: You got it. What's up, everybody?
00:26:08
Speaker 7: It's my new song, Echo. I can't wait for you guys to hear it. Hope you enjoy it.
00:26:12
Speaker 3: It's different, but it's good.
00:26:13
Speaker 2: I love you.
00:26:20
Speaker 1: That's Jonathan McReynolds with his latest single, Echo.
00:26:23
Speaker 4: And the sound, the lyrics in all of your songs are always so powerful. I feel like they're always so grounded in something that maybe we don't talk about often, but we should. And you wrap it in music in such an amazing way. It reminds us of the prayers. Man, I mean, first off.
00:26:45
Speaker 7: My mother's prayers. You know, she's always praying every day. You know, that is the first person, maybe the only person that I remember every night, you know, actually getting on her knees on the bedside to pray. And so, first of all, hers, but also my grandmother. You know, she's gone on to be with the Lord now, but... I know that she was absolutely a praying something, man. Praying, reading, studying in the morning. And so, you know, two people who I.
00:27:13
Speaker 1: Just saw be diligent. My mother, my grandmother. I love it.
00:27:18
Speaker 4: The album Closer was recorded live in your hometown of Chicago. And you blended 80s and pop and acoustic soul and worship along some of the most powerful collaborators. So what did bringing this album home mean? um mean for you what was this moment like for you oh it.
00:27:35
Speaker 7: Was incredible it was a movie um you know it was really cool you know definitely had my friends there tasha coves and tim bowman and uh just a lot of jamal uh robbers came through and and we you know we we have already gone through the cycle of steel and so i'm just really grateful for the support on that song as well yeah but i'm it was just a really cool night uh you never know how things are gonna work But I don't really make music sometimes for it to work. I just make it to be authentic to where I am in that season.
00:28:09
Speaker 1: And it really worked out.
00:28:11
Speaker 4: I love that honesty and that vulnerability that you're willing to show, especially as a man.
00:28:16
Speaker 1: I think we are used to it from women. But for you, it just.
00:28:19
Speaker 4: It just opens up so much freedom for people to really be who they are and be honest.
00:28:24
Speaker 1: So thank you so much for that. Go ahead, Griff. Now, two things, dog.
00:28:27
Speaker 5: Number one, your speech for Artist of the Year at the Stellars. And I know the people who watched it on TV didn't get to experience the.
00:28:39
Speaker 3: Same thing as us. But, man, that.
00:28:41
Speaker 5: every time i see your name or see something with you on it i'm like that speech though dog you so represented for us um in this genre and you did it without being mean like you was just like come on y'all so that's number one then number two you're going to be on a one voyage cruise with us uh doing singing and having what are you looking forward to that about I.
00:29:04
Speaker 7: Just like hanging out with my people, man. You know, it's just like the stellar. It's just like, you know, any event. We do a lot of touring. We crisscross the country and the world and we don't see each other. So that's always the first thing that I just enjoy outside of what's happening on stage. I just enjoy just hanging out with people and just realizing, wow, there's a legend over there.
00:29:25
Speaker 5: There's a brother over there.
00:29:26
Speaker 3: There's a sister over there.
00:29:28
Speaker 1: And to me, that's the fun part. We appreciate you.
00:29:30
Speaker 4: You know we support you always, whatever you need from us.
00:29:33
Speaker 1: You got it, bro. Tell them how they can stay connected.

Speaker 14: From my book, A Setback Setup for Comeback, that.
00:31:04
Speaker 1: Speak to the importance of fortitude.
00:31:07
Speaker 14: Fortitude is defined as emotional strength or power in the face of adversity and difficulty. Sir Francis Bacon said, while prosperity best discovers vice. Adversity best discovers virtue, and the virtue that comes from adversity is fortitude. The good things that come from prosperity are to be wished for, but the good things that come from adversity are to be admired. Therefore, a person does not know of their own strength who has not met God. any adversity I encourage you to have faith and fortitude and keep fighting for your dreams.

00:32:58
Speaker 4: And I tell you, first it started with calling in two days before the cruise, grabbing my passport, packing my bags and getting to the ship.
00:33:06
Speaker 5: And then when you got the ship, did you go to ship church both days or just today?
00:33:11
Speaker 6: Both days.
00:33:11
Speaker 1: And I've been blessed on both days. And today was a better blessing than yesterday. And tomorrow is going to even be more.
00:33:18

00:35:22
Speaker 3: Testimonies, bro. The testimonies need to be moderated. Know that.

00:36:00
Speaker 6: Talk about that.
00:36:02
Speaker 4: The realness, the open communication, the honesty, and just love that you get from the environment here is awesome.

00:36:34
Speaker 1: I wasn't even thinking. I was just going to clap my hands, maybe step my toe two times.
