00:00:00
Speaker 1: This is Gary and Shannon, and you're listening to KFI AM 640, The Gary and Shannon Show, on demand on the iHeartRadio app. As I think it was Vin Scully would say, we're all day-to-day. Was that a Vin Scully quote?
00:00:14
Speaker 2: I hope so.
00:00:16
Speaker 1: It's time to panic, I think. There's some panicking going on in my house. The Dodgers sit in a hole. It's not a big hole. It's not a three-game hole, but it's a two-game hole. And the good news is, is they're headed back home. I don't like the feel of this season, Tim Babykates. This series is what I mean. I don't like the feel. I feel like all the momentum is on the Milwaukee Brewers side. I feel like the Dodgers look flat. What's going on? Shohei Itani. I can't watch another at-bat, Cates.
00:00:50
Speaker 3: Oh, ye of little faith. This has been a situation the Dodgers have been in before, Shannon. Down 0-2 in an NLCS, and they came.
00:00:58
Speaker 2: Back and won.
00:00:59
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:00:59
Speaker 2: When did that happen?
00:01:02
Speaker 4: 2020.
00:01:02
Speaker 2: The world was shut down.
00:01:03
Speaker 3: We were the only ones going to work back then, and they were playing baseball in the bubble.
00:01:07
Speaker 4: That's right.
00:01:07
Speaker 5: As St.
00:01:08
Speaker 4: Francis says, where there is no hope, there is faith.
00:01:13
Speaker 2: And where did they get the White Sox, Mr.
00:01:15
Speaker 1: Pope?
00:01:16
Speaker 2: That's a good point. And the Pope had to go through surgery today, as a matter of fact. Oh, we're thinking of him. It's a hole.
00:01:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right. They're down 0-2, but certainly they held home court, home field, and now it's coming back to Dodger Stadium. And you've got to feel pretty good about having Blake Snell on the mound for Game 3, Tyler Glass now on the mound for Game 4. They don't have any of their aces going, the Milwaukee Brewers. They've used those two guys, Logan Henderson and, of course, the Miz. So you've got to feel pretty good about getting back into this series. And it all starts, though, with tomorrow and blake snell because.
00:01:47
Speaker 2: There was a statistic that uh tv guys joe davison amazingly was the one who was saying it that the brewers bullpen last night had given up zero i think it was zero base hits not one base hit in the five plus innings or whatever that they were required to do first time in playoff history never been done yeah that's an amazing accomplishment for uh I mean, what are the Brewers known for? We talked yesterday about the fact that they don't hit home runs.
00:02:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, not home runs, but yet here they are hitting home runs, and the Dodgers are anemic.
00:02:19
Speaker 2: Three hits. They don't need to hit home runs against a three-hit defense.
00:02:23
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:02:23
Speaker 3: I don't know if this is a bad analogy or not because of the recent weather, but it's like waves just pounding the shore over and over again.
00:02:29
Speaker 2: That's how they come at you. You know, it's just a hit, a walk, a hit, a stolen base.
00:02:34
Speaker 4: I love that. And I love that. I love that kind of baseball.
00:02:38
Speaker 3: 12, six walks by pitch. They had 19 guys on base yesterday. The Dodgers had three hits.
00:02:44
Speaker 4: How do we make the bats come alive? Do we need to do a bat dance?
00:02:48
Speaker 3: I mean, in the movie Major League, Pedro Serrano needed a live chicken, but they couldn't get a live.
00:02:52
Speaker 2: Chicken, so they got fried chicken.
00:02:53
Speaker 1: Hey, Elmer, I think there's, from Batman, I think Prince does some sort of dance, and I think that may be what we get going today.
00:03:04
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:03:04
Speaker 1: Do you remember that song from Batman with Michael Keaton?
00:03:08
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:03:08
Speaker 2: Oh, the Michael Keaton Batman.
00:03:10
Speaker 4: The best Batman.
00:03:11
Speaker 2: Okay.
00:03:11
Speaker 7: Yeah.
00:03:13
Speaker 1: And Prince does this dance number in the movie, if I'm not mistaken.
00:03:17
Speaker 4: Now, 1989 was a long time ago, guys. But I feel like that might be our bat dance.
00:03:24

Well, news came down just this morning, the first news conference from the White House press podium by the new press secretary, Katie Zakaria. but that Kimberly Guilfoyle has been asked to resign as ambassador to Greece.
00:04:08
Speaker 6: On Kimberly Guilfoyle, the Daily Mail has been reporting on her since last year. The president said yesterday to reporters that he is considering firing her. Do you know a timeline for that? And also, potentially, who could be on the short list to replace her if he does?
00:04:24
Speaker 2: We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well.
00:04:34
Speaker 1: I'm going to have to look at her talk because I don't think I can handle the straight audio moving forward.
00:04:40
Speaker 4: I'm going to need a distraction.
00:04:43
Speaker 2: She ends everything with a question.
00:04:45
Speaker 4: The president has asked her to resign.
00:04:47
Speaker 2: We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign.
00:04:50
Speaker 4: I can't.
00:04:51
Speaker 1: I'm not going to be able to do that for a couple of years or however long this goes on.
00:04:56
Speaker 2: Kimberly Guilfoyle has been accused of, among other things, asking rich donors to pay off credit card bills that she has had. in exchange for access to people within the administration.
00:05:10
Speaker 4: This is a blind spot for me.
00:05:12
Speaker 1: I saw the headline this morning, Guilfoyle, you know, has to resign because of the American Express scandal.
00:05:18
Speaker 4: And I'm like, American Express scandal?
00:05:19
Speaker 5: What happened?
00:05:21
Speaker 4: I had no idea. I had not seen that she had asked people to pay her credit card bills.
00:05:26
Speaker 2: So one of the guys is a guy named Eric Dieters, a big multimillionaire. I believe he's in Kentucky. And just before she was up for Senate confirmation, one of the things that they do when you're going to be an ambassador is go through your financial records and see if there's any reason why you could potentially be at risk of blackmail, among other things. And she apparently had a pretty sizable credit card. She's looking at $ 100, 000 and the Wall Street Journal published text messages between her and this guy named Eric Dieters where she said, could you pay this off before I go for my confirmation hearing included a. PDF from American Express about how someone else, how a third party, could pay off your credit card debt, just basically the wiring instructions. And now, Kimberly Guilfoyle's lawyers are suggesting that all of that was made up. Well, Eric Dieters was on CNN last night. They first said... that the text messages were fake. Defamation. Then they said I.
00:06:28
Speaker 5: Was a known blackmailer.
00:06:30
Speaker 2: Never blackmailed anybody in my life.
00:06:31
Speaker 3: Defamation.
00:06:33
Speaker 7: Then, now they're claiming that they're invoices when she knows that's not true. In all the text messages.
00:06:39
Speaker 2: She doesn't mention anything about me owing money.
00:06:42
Speaker 5: What she talks about is papering this.
00:06:45
Speaker 7: So what she asked me to do was make up that I owed her money and write her a letter, and I did that for her.
00:06:53
Speaker 1: That's 100%. I don't know anything about that guy, but he is the guy that you would ask to pay your credit card bills. And he's also the guy that would sing like a canary when asked about it.
00:07:01
Speaker 2: Which is apparently what's exactly what's happening.
00:07:03
Speaker 1: This is a teachable moment, kids. Pay off your balances. Do not carry a credit card balance. If you can't pay it off that month or the next month, you don't buy it. Don't carry a balance.
00:07:15
Speaker 4: It's how they screw you, and it's how you lose your ambassadorship degrees.
00:07:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's the reason they look through your financial records for that. One of the things that I saw that I don't think I'd ever realized before is when you are appointed as an ambassador before you're confirmed, you're called an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary.
00:07:41
Speaker 4: Such a great gig.
00:07:42
Speaker 2: Which is like, you then, once you're confirmed, have full power to sign treaties, et cetera, with this foreign government that you're representing the United States before. She will not last the day. She had posted something on Twitter. Twitter, on social media, suggesting that she's at the very least taking into account that the administration has asked her to resign.
00:08:05
Speaker 4: I get so sad when people screw up great jobs.
00:08:08
Speaker 1: I mean, all she had to do was sit overlooking the caldera in Santorini, glass of wine, enjoy herself. And she couldn't stop shopping or whatever it is and couldn't keep a clean paper trail.
00:08:21
Speaker 4: It's unfortunate. It's a great gig.
00:08:23
Speaker 2: All right. I fell off a roller coaster yesterday. Not in the old fashioned way, though.
00:08:28
Speaker 4: Oh, I can't wait to hear about it.
00:08:31
Speaker 5: You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI AM 640.
00:08:38
Speaker 2: Kimberly Guilfoyle, the now soon to be former U.S. ambassador to Greece, posted on Twitter about an hour ago. This is after the White House announced this morning they'd asked her to resign. She said, I'll be forever grateful to President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio for entrusting me with the extraordinary privilege of representing the greatest country in the history of the world. She said, while my time as ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end. It's been my honor. It's been the honor of my lifetime to serve the United States. My deepest heartfelt appreciation to the people of Greece for their hospitality and partnership, et cetera.
00:09:13
Speaker 1: Consider me the moose out front, because if you're going to a theme park today and you see some rides closed, that is because multiple rides have been closed across us and Canada today as a precaution. after a guy died at Six Flags over Georgia on yesterday.
00:09:35
Speaker 2: This is a guy who was on the roller coaster apparently with his son. His wife and daughter did not go on the roller coaster and were on the ground watching when he somehow was thrown out of the ride and then hit the ride and potentially injured other people that were still on the coast hit the bars or the tracks a couple of times before he made his way, not all the way to the ground even. but on the roof of a haunted house that was below the roller coaster.
00:10:11
Speaker 1: Unresponsive and not breathing when investigators showed up at the amusement park.
00:10:17
Speaker 4: He landed on the haunted house. How chilling is that in October?
00:10:22
Speaker 2: They said the man's safety belt had dislodged, according to one of the fellow riders. You can see the images of the person out of the seat when it comes to the souvenir pictures that were taken as part of the Everyday roller coaster ride.
00:10:38
Speaker 4: This is like a horror movie, isn't it?
00:10:42
Speaker 2: One witness told NBC, an NBC affiliate out of Atlanta, they saw him fall from the Goliath roller coaster. At least two people said they saw him strike parts of the ride before he hit the roof of that haunted house. One witness said he fell and hit the car three different times. And that that witness said that the falling man was captured in their souvenir picture that was taken alongside the ride. The man's body hit other people on the ride before falling onto the roof of that haunted house attraction below. They immediately stopped the roller coaster. In fact, one of the cars that was behind and one of the trains, I should say, behind him, behind the one he was on, got stuck on the incline, which if you're on a roller coaster, you see those long inclines. There's a staircase next to it.
00:11:27
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:11:27
Speaker 2: Because in the off chance that that thing does stop, whether inadvertently or on purpose, you got to walk down.
00:11:34
Speaker 1: I thought that was just for maintenance. That's what I tell myself every time it's slowly creeping up.
00:11:39
Speaker 4: That ladder there, that's not for bad things.
00:11:41
Speaker 5: That's not for you.
00:11:41
Speaker 4: That's just for maintenance.
00:11:43
Speaker 2: It is for both. Unfortunately, in this case, it was used for the bad things.
00:11:47
Speaker 1: Now, I will say that just not even a month ago, three people sued Six Flags and the parent company, S & S Worldwide, saying they suffered catastrophic brain injuries after riding X2. This is the roller coaster at Six Flags here at Magic Mountain.
00:12:07
Speaker 2: As you drive into Magic Mountain, it's that first one you see on your left.
00:12:10
Speaker 1: It's a 200-foot-high roller coaster with seats that rotate independently as the train travels along the track. So you're spinning 360s as it reaches up to 76 miles an hour and goes through dives and flips and twists.
00:12:26
Speaker 4: Have you ridden it?
00:12:27
Speaker 2: It's a blast.
00:12:28
Speaker 5: Really?
00:12:28
Speaker 7: Yeah.
00:12:29
Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh.
00:12:30
Speaker 2: It's really great. But it is one of those violent, I mean, roller coasters are intentionally violent. And even the Goliath, the Goliath here has shut down because of the result of the accident from yesterday. Even that roller coaster is the first one where I ever remember feeling like I was about to black out.
00:12:50
Speaker 1: I was just going to say, you must be like the oldest person to ride that, you know? You know, people age out of roller coasters. I ride the one at California Adventure and I go.
00:12:58
Speaker 4: Oh, my back.
00:12:59
Speaker 1: You're over there at X2 in the winter of your life. Just live in it.
00:13:04
Speaker 2: I'm just kidding.
00:13:05
Speaker 4: You're not in the winter of your life.
00:13:06
Speaker 2: I'll take it.
00:13:07
Speaker 4: I know what you mean.
00:13:07
Speaker 2: But you know what I mean?
00:13:08
Speaker 1: Like you get to a certain age where you're like, I can't do that crap anymore.
00:13:11
Speaker 2: It'll blow apart the equilibrium mechanism in your ears if you're not careful.
00:13:16
Speaker 4: You also fly Mach 9s.
00:13:19
Speaker 7: No, no.
00:13:20
Speaker 4: Mach 6s. Just Mach 1.
00:13:21
Speaker 2: Mach 1. Just barely above.
00:13:25
Speaker 4: G-forces was what I was thinking of.
00:13:27
Speaker 2: 9Gs, yeah.
00:13:28
Speaker 6: See?
00:13:28
Speaker 1: I knew there was an F in 9. Selma Blair, guys. Selma Blair leading newscasts. Excuse me, not nudecasts. Selma Blair leading newscasts around the country because this is what we... I mean, I did break into the show yesterday with this news when we first heard it.
00:13:46
Speaker 7: Yeah.
00:13:47
Speaker 1: When it first broke. But we left it at that. This was like the headline of nightly news.
00:13:54
Speaker 2: And I don't think it's an important story, but not because a starlet has gone crazy. There's a lot more to it than that.
00:14:03
Speaker 1: There's a chemical imbalance that is at the nut of this story.
00:14:08
Speaker 4: Nothing else.
00:14:10
Speaker 5: You're listening to Gary and Shannon On Demand from KFI AM 640.
00:14:18
Speaker 1: We're going to have to bring back the Prince Batman song coming up in the 11 o'clock hour.
00:14:22
Speaker 4: We will, don't worry.
00:14:24
Speaker 1: Because that needed more than just a drive-by.
00:14:27
Speaker 2: It's funny that you mentioned, though, 1989. There was a story we didn't do yesterday about a television show that's being remade into a movie again. Universal has released some still images of Austin Butler as Detective Tubbs.
00:14:47
Speaker 6: No.
00:14:48
Speaker 2: Yeah. Michael B. Jordan as Detective Tubbs and Austin Butler as Crockett from Miami Vice. They're doing a Miami Vice 85, a movie that's supposed to be released. It looks like right now it would be released in 2028. Walton Goggins, John Leguizamo also in the cast. There was a Jamie Foxx, Colin Farrell, Miami Vice movie, I believe, from several years ago that didn't do very well. So they're going to reboot it, a reboot reboot of Miami Vice because everybody's asking for it.
00:15:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, all the blazers, the crew necks, the loafers, the pleated pants, the neon.
00:15:30
Speaker 2: The no socks.
00:15:31
Speaker 4: It's an aesthetic, isn't it?
00:15:33
Speaker 2: We talked about yesterday. Do you want to do a terror in this kind of way? Well, just here's the thing. It's not very terrorizing, especially considering there's a there's a chemical imbalance at At play here, but Selma Blair, the actress and activist who over the last several years has been known for her battle with multiple sclerosis, was on an airplane and had to be arraigned yesterday on two counts of assault. Because she kicked a Port Authority police officer and then a nurse at a hospital. This all after she was removed from a Delta Airlines flight.
00:16:12
Speaker 1: Bite marks, too. Remember the bite marks on one flight attendant as well? Yeah, we broke this as it was surfacing yesterday afternoon. She was arraigned, and we saw this yesterday afternoon video in the courtroom, on two counts of second-degree assault. Bail was set at $ 20, 000 cash or.
00:16:32
Speaker 4: $ 60, 000 bond, but her attorneys say it was a medical emergency.
00:16:38
Speaker 2: By the way, we have audio. The pilot talked to ground control as the plane was coming in. to kind of set up the situation saying we had an incident on board.
00:16:49
Speaker 7: We also said yesterday this is not the first time she's had an incident on an airplane.
00:16:56
Speaker 2: And 10 years ago, She had a verbal outburst accusing someone of wanting to kill her. She had to be taken off that flight on a stretcher, transported to a hospital when that flight landed here in L.A.
00:17:26
Speaker 1: It seems that she over-medicates before she goes on a flight, if this has happened before. Her attorney is a guy by the name of Sean Barnes, said, we do not believe, Your Honor, that this is an intentional assault.
00:17:41
Speaker 4: Prior to the flight, she had missed several doses of her medication.
00:17:45
Speaker 2: Oh, so under-medicated.
00:17:47
Speaker 4: She also fell and hit her head on the flight.
00:17:51
Speaker 1: But if you know when you miss your medication that you behave erratically, then that is intent, unfortunately.
00:17:59
Speaker 4: You know what happens when you do this.
00:18:01
Speaker 1: And when you mix it with whatever, if that's a situation, it's happened before and it's happened again.
00:18:08
Speaker 2: So that's a problem for her legally. I'm curious about the medication itself. Was this medication that is designed to control the symptoms of MS? And then once you're on it for a long time, coming off of it without tapering, you could potentially cause problems like this or emotional irregularity? I have no idea. Um, the Harvey Levin from TMZ also talked about the, the lawyer and what the lawyer said in court.
00:18:38
Speaker 7: Her lawyer showed up in court late yesterday and said, look, she missed medications that she was supposed to be taking. As you know, she has multiple sclerosis, has health challenges, and was also suggesting there are some mental challenges there as well.
00:18:57
Speaker 4: Definitely.
00:18:59
Speaker 1: So how, Well, I prefer my terror in the skies to just come with like.
00:19:05
Speaker 4: Six gin and tonics.
00:19:07
Speaker 1: Right.
00:19:07
Speaker 5: Just alcohol and juice.
00:19:08
Speaker 1: And no mental problems. Yeah, I like to laugh at my terror in the skies, not go, oh, that's not good. Yeah.
00:19:15
Speaker 2: I mean, if that lady back there in row eight is going to start doing that thing, you'd rather it just be just alcohol.
00:19:21
Speaker 4: Are you talking about masturbation?
00:19:23
Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if that's exactly what she was doing.
00:19:25
Speaker 4: Now, let's circle back to that story. Okay.
00:19:29
Speaker 6: Yes.
00:19:29
Speaker 4: It was her husband seated next to her? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:19:33
Speaker 2: There was a husband and wife sitting in front of her.
00:19:35
Speaker 4: Oh, that's right. That's right.
00:19:36
Speaker 1: I was misremembering how that story was told. And in my head, I'm like, I remember there being a husband in this story or a husband sitting next to her.
00:19:46
Speaker 2: No, because then I had asked my wife.
00:19:48
Speaker 4: That's right.
00:19:49
Speaker 2: You had asked your wife. If we were sitting there and the lady at AE started doing that, what would you do?
00:19:54
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:19:55
Speaker 2: Because I wouldn't know. I would be clueless. I would not think about throwing a blanket over her.
00:20:01
Speaker 4: I loved your wife's response to throw a blanket over her. But here's the deal. They don't give you blankets anymore.
00:20:06
Speaker 7: True.
00:20:06
Speaker 1: So you'd have to ask a flight attendant for a blanket, therefore alerting her to the issue, probably, or she'll see it. Yes. You know, how do you surreptitiously ask for a blanket and then throw it over the masturbating woman?
00:20:19
Speaker 4: That's the real hero in this story.
00:20:20
Speaker 2: That's true. Hey, first.
00:20:26
Speaker 2: Nine days from now, next Thursday, October 22nd, we are going to be live at the BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse in West Lake Village. Hello, Ventura County.
00:20:38
Speaker 4: Hello.
00:20:39
Speaker 1: Hello.
00:20:40
Speaker 2: We will be out there from 9 to noon doing the show live for our latest news and brews. Our friends at BJ's have opened up the doors to a new restaurant.
00:20:48
Speaker 4: I'm sorry, big boy. We'll stop doing that.
00:20:50
Speaker 5: Hello.
00:20:51
Speaker 4: I just told him we'd stop.
00:20:53
Speaker 2: Oh, that sounded more like Lenny from Laverne and Shirley than Big Boy.
00:20:57
Speaker 1: Oh, I don't watch Laverne and Shirley, but I do listen to Big Boy.
00:21:00
Speaker 4: So there's a little bit of a disconnect there.
00:21:04
Speaker 2: Well, now we know where he got it from.
00:21:06
Speaker 4: Was Laverne and Shirley on in your youth?
00:21:10
Speaker 7: Yes.
00:21:11
Speaker 2: I don't think I ever watched it live.
00:21:13
Speaker 4: I know I watched the reruns and stuff. They have the sweaters, am I right, with the L and the S?
00:21:16
Speaker 2: There's no S.
00:21:17
Speaker 4: No S?
00:21:18
Speaker 2: Laverne had the L, but Shirley did not.
00:21:20
Speaker 4: Have the S, no. What's up with that?
00:21:22
Speaker 5: I don't know.
00:21:24
Speaker 4: Surely didn't get ass. That's not cool.
00:21:27
Speaker 2: We would love to see if you are in Ventura County or anywhere in the West San Fernando Valley, Westlake Village BJ's next Thursday, October 22nd. We have stuff that we're going to be giving away and tickets and things like that. So that's going to be a fun time.
00:21:43
Speaker 4: Are you going to do that thing where you give away yourself for like an hour?
00:21:46
Speaker 2: What?
00:21:49
Speaker 4: Like for yard work or what did you think? I don't know.
00:21:53
Speaker 2: And why only an hour?
00:21:55
Speaker 4: Whoa.
00:21:56
Speaker 3: That's weird.
00:21:57
Speaker 2: Gary and Shannon will continue.
00:21:58
Speaker 5: Right after this.
00:21:59
Speaker 1: This is KFI.
00:22:00
Speaker 2: You've been listening to the Gary and Shannon show.
00:22:03
Speaker 1: You can always hear us live on KFI AM 640, 9 a.m. to noon every Monday through Friday and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
