ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Reviving Giants: The Engineering Upgrades That Keep Bridges Alive | Mega Bridges | FD Engineering
Bridges of the Future - Engineering Beyond Tradition: https://youtu.be/J9_2o8W_3LI
It is difficult enough to design a bridge that will remain aesthetically relevant for a hundred and twenty-odd years. Let alone one that maintains its resilience. Advanced understanding of environmental factors and impact prevention sees many historic structures retrofit or updated to stay relevant.
Whether arch, beam or suspension bridge: For thousands of years, people have been building connections for pedestrians, cars or trains over natural obstacles such as water or gorges. In the past it was simple stone buildings, today gigantic steel structures like the Örsesund Bridge are created to connect Denmark with Sweden. In each episode one of these modern buildings is presented.
