For Fox Sake: Welcome to Headlines by For Fox Sake with myself Pete Selby. Looking at the headlines, who said what this weekend about Leicester? My word, what happened on Saturday? A terrible home 2 1 defeat by Burton Albion, called by many as the worst ever league defeat. I think so. We're down in 18th place. That's the lowest place Leicester have ever been in English football since they were promoted to the league in the what late 1800s. And a home two-one defeat by I'm not gonna say plucky Burton, but Burton, one of the favourites to get relegated this season. Small club as we know. But fair play to Burton. I thought they were fantastic on Saturday in their own right. But Leicester, absolutely dreadful. And on the headlines, we like to look at what people said during the game afterwards, prominent Leicester City supporters, Leicester City supporters also, members of the media, and also we look forward to what's coming up this week. So let's just look forward. To what's coming up on for Fox Take. So today, and I'm talking about Monday, we'll have a podcast discussing what happened at the King Power on Saturday against Burton, and we'll also be looking forward to the League Cup game against Ipswich on Tuesday. And also then later in the week, we'll have our preview on Thursday regarding our next League One game away at MK Don's lunchtime 1230 on the Saturday of the 29th of August. So plenty on for Fox8 Podcasts. So make sure you do subscribe either Apple Podcasts or however you're listening to this for a start. Also you can watch us on Spotify on our YouTube channel. Make sure you subscribe. And also on for Fox8.news. Do make sure you subscribe to for Fox8.news. And for those out there who are listening who are already members to forfox8.news, I know plenty of new subscribers taking up that fabulous offer we had the other week. And if you haven't, you can sign up for only five pounds a month or fifty pounds a year and those new subscribers really enjoying the content. They like the five things that they learnt from the previous game and the five things looking forward to in the next game. Plenty of content on there, plenty of information regarding new signings. I've got a column coming up this week, further countdown to the top one hundred Leicester players. I know many people want to know as we go from 49 to 45 who's next. We got a we had a classy midfielder at number 45 in the in the late 80s. It was a poor team but he went on to great success In the nineties and early two thousands, as a very experienced player and won many, many trophies, including the the final first division before he got turned into the Premier League. So you might recognize him. A few wingers as well, a a fans favorite from the eights, and also one who retired at the age of twenty-five. He trained to be a teacher at the age of twenty-five, whilst he was a Leicester City first team player. in the top flight of English football, played in many cup finals, won the League Cup, this is in the early sixties. And yet at twenty five he made that decision. So again, for Fox8.news, you can read all about that. And there'll be plenty this week. I know Andy's been sorting out his new his number nines, his top ten Leicester number nines, and also plenty more from Rob Hayes regarding Leicester City on for Fox8.news and of course plenty of fallout regarding what happened on Saturday as well. So that's for Fox8.news and again if you do sign up, if you are a member Thank you very much. Thanks for believing in our independent Leicester City coverage from local journalist Andy Moore, from football commentator Pete Selby myself, and also football commentator Rob Hayes. And of course it keeps these podcasts absolutely free. And let's get into what happened on Saturday. Well, it was a complete disaster, wasn't it? And I suppose you got kind of got gallows humour when these things happen because th there's also there's lots and lots of comments which do make you you chuckle during those games and I think it's it's the way we've got to go. But the worst result in our club's history, I said that earlier. Many people said that. Jake Watson, he said that as well. Worst result in our club's history. You can only you can have any manager in the world, but ultimately it will never change until the ownership does. Also, have you been listening to my special interview with Rob Tanner? Again, that is out in podcast form. However you're listening to this, just go back an episode or so. My interview with Rob Tanner, we do discuss his breaking story regarding the sale of Leicester City that he broke in the athletic. And also at the end, there's a very nice 10-15 minutes regarding Rob's career at the Leicester Mercury. Covering Leicester. Lots of stories about Vardy, about Nigel Pearson, and about winning the league, Ranieri, and and also those years building up to promotion under Pearson. Really good stuff. That's in the last say 10 to 15 minutes with Rob Tanner. The first half an hour, 25 minutes is all about his news about breaking on the athletic about Leicester being sold and his thoughts also and also whether I asked him right at the end, does he think Leicester are going to be sold this season? Yes or no? And he answers and it's quite interesting. back to Jake Watson's comment, you can have any manager in the world but ultimately it will never change until the ownership does. King Power, I say just get the hell out of our club or he says actually just get out of our club. I I did that little bit there. but you're never here. Just sell and do it as soon as you can before we're in League Two. John Bennett at the BBC, Leicester City, proving that rock bottom hasn't been reached yet. Again, we are in 18th. There's places to go, aren't they? really hope Russell Martin succeeds, but I find it bizarre that Leicester's owners seem obsessed with passing football identity. The fans clearly wanted more direct, pragmatic football, which works at that level. Now Jason Bourne, formerly of the BBC at BBC Radio Leicester, now at Talk Sports, a disgraceful resort, he says. The club continues to find new lows under King Power and this incompetent chairman and senior leadership team. A sale cannot come soon enough. And if you heard from Russell Martin after the game, he says there's been and there will be some honest conversations after today's defeat. This is obviously after the game against Burton, with Leicester sitting eighteenth in League One. Just terrible, absolutely drum dramatically terrible. You s the way they started with a cole, Absolutely terrible. Again, I've said a coli and suter. If they want to go, you can't play players who want to go. You cannot play them. You cannot play them again. Anyway, back to the comments, back to headlines. That's more for the podcast later on. Jason continues, and honestly, remove any player from the squad that's been involved in any of these last three relegations. Don't include them. Get them out. Whichever or whatever means. Go with the youngsters and new signings. The stench of failure. Is still too prevalent. Really like that line from Jason Bourne. Josh Holland of the Leicester Mercury doing the job that Rob Tanner, who we've got that interview with, used to do between 2009 and about 2018, 19 or so. Russell Martin says his team gave Burton a head start with their slow start. You cannot give teams a head start, and we did, says Russell Martin. He's paraphrasing him, Joss Holland. And says that we give them two and had a man sent off. We can't afford to do that against any opponent anywhere we go. more from Henry Winter. Henry Winter now, Henry Winter who's been chief writer at the the Times, etcetera. now he's with World Soccer, but one of the most premanent or prevalent Leicester City journal or journalists out there. But he does cover Leicester quite interestingly, Henry Winter. He's got a real interest in the club. Oliver Skipp's dismissal, he says, Russell Martin's possession obsession in League One, naively playing across the back, defeat and despair, so much wrong on field with Leicester City. Players and coach have to take more responsibility and apply more subtle tactics. But the main issue is the ownership. Leicester's paralysis and drift down the leagues is largely a king power issue. The family and firm have done so much for the club and the city down the years, but they have to go. Time to sell. But to the right people. Much right about Leicester Stadium, Training Ground, Fanbase Academy. They need better leadership and recruitment, says Henry Winter. there's plenty more comments as well. Stevie Boy on Twitter. he says or should I say X at what point does John Rudkin take a modicum of accountability and responsibility and resigns from his position? We need a fresh start. Rudkin step aside and the likes of Suta Akoli skip. Chowdery, Thomas Mavadidi and Walt Vass, it's a long list, have to go this week and the chance to freshen things up. The club is on its backside. Burton Albion, they tweeted four time two one. For the first time in history, Burton Albion have beaten Leicester City in the league. Hashtag the Brewers. Again, well done to all involved. They really started well, didn't they, Burton? But so yeah, there we go. Josh Holland continues only second game of the season, too many players failing to get the basics right in important stages of the game. Anthony Bennett, the Bedford Fox, says playing two cart horses at the back and cannot pass. Both don't look interested. Why is Harry Suter captain? I agree. Lightweight midfield, no striker. Team lacks leadership and players who know the league. Martin again shows he hasn't learnt any lessons. Last chance saloon for him. Maybe. Now Lewis, LCFC Spence. Thomas and Akoli are in embarrassment. Yep, I agree. Shouldn't ever wear the shirt again. Do you agree? Skip, he can go to. He uses stronger terms than that. All these so called experienced players are a disgrace. Again, using a slightly stronger term. Young lads, and he claps them. if only the older players could take note, he is raging. Lewis Edwards, Suter, Akoli, and Thomas cannot continue into defense. That's three quarters to our back line, and neither goalkeeper options give us any faith. Bad times. I agree. Three of the back four, awful. Adam Longley, our attacking players look incredibly lightweight. Most make Iosi Perez look like Akin Fenwa, you know, the the big lad. Is it the beast that he he calls himself? He is. And our defenders can neither defend or pass the ball. Not an ideal combination. Charlie Carmichael, he says, nothing changes until the club is sold. So it's similar to what Jason Bourne was saying. top absent and clueless, Rudkin and Co. terror finally out of their depths. Everything we see on the pitch, the manager's tactics, those recruited to play, the connection with the Flans, it's direct consequences of King Power's decisions. Now LCFC Daily News, he writes well, I say he. It could be a lady. I don't actually know. Don't know. It just says LCFC Daily News. To be completely honest, I'd like to understand the club's logic here. We sold Polu and loaned out Otieri, and Hutchinson doesn't seem good enough right now, even though the big clubs are keeping an eye on him. Meanwhile, we bring in Brisic and from a completely different league, and he's gonna need time to adapt. Then, when we need to make a change during the match, we don't have the available personnel for that position. What is the logic behind this? I was talking to my neighbour, Martin. on this exact point. You send these young players out, that's fine. But we don't have anyone at the club at the moment. So why didn't they wait to send them out on loan? We could have had Evans coming on, a Cherya who who played and scored goals in preseason friendlies. Now, they might think he needs experience. He probably does. He probably needs a season on loan. But he could be playing now because we haven't got anyone to bring on. All of a sudden you got Decod Ever Reed with crosses being brought in to I mean it's It it's it's crazy. I completely agree. LCFC Daily News. Jake Watson says during the game, it's the eighty-seventh minute, we're losing to Burton, and we stick Harry Souter up front. Hmm. Yeah, it it sums it up really, doesn't it? ELB, no matter your opinion on Mreska, he saw Luke Thomas played football and shipped him out straight away. Hmm. Possibly, yeah. Yeah, it's it's it again, it says it all, doesn't it? He he saw straight through him. When will the pain end? says Manish Passing of the BBC. and yeah, it i it it goes on and on and on. there's not too much coverage in the in the main papers. Leicester obviously got a lot of coverage last week in the papers. I think purely because it was the first game of season, live on TV, early kickoff, Notts County, Leicester, and so there were quite a lot of journalists there. But interesting, you play Burton at home, first weekend of the Premier League, all of a sudden no one's bothered. They might be bothered if things continue the way they are. Just one or two more comments, which which were quite interesting, I thought. and and people kind of saying the same sort of things. Becky T, Becky T L C F C on X suit up trying to head straight down the tunnel. pathetic from the captain, never should have given him the armband. I really do agree. and then Lennon Vesey says about the the position in the league. And I think he's kind of keeping up to date. He keeps on retweeting his own tweets by updating Leicester's position being the lowest it's ever been. So I I'm going with Lennon here on that lowest position, by the way. This is what I'm basing it on. the lowest Leicester City ever sat in any point of their only previous League One season in the third tier of English football in eight, nine, was sixth. So after today's loss on Saturday to Birds and Albion, the Foxes sit eighteenth. So by definition The lowest point in history. Official, says Lennon. And again, I'm keeping up with him actually. I'm that's where I'm basing my my Leicester City stats. and it it goes on and on and on. We will be discussing this on For Fox's sake tomorrow, or should I say today in terms of how you're listening to this. So this is on Monday, and we'll have a podcast regarding What happened against Burton and look forward to Ipswich and what kind of team we're gonna play against Ipswich, my word, and they of course got off to a flying start in the Premier League. again, we'll have a podcast later on in the week, the preview of the MK game away at MK Dons on Saturday at twelve thirty. And again, Leicester City News, independent Leicester City News and coverage on for Fox Sake.news. Take a look. It's five pounds a month. And again, the best thing with that five pounds a month, first of all, you know where it's going. Second of all, you can stop it any time. Have a look. It's great on a mobile phone. It's great on a laptop, great on the on the on a on a big PC monitor. But also there's plenty there for older Leicester City supporters, maybe your mum, maybe your dad, etc. etc. Okay, it's a nice present as well to give someone. But it's in your hands. So if you want to subscribe and you don't fancy it after a month, don't worry. You can cancel and then re-subscribe later. That's absolutely fine, not a problem. But what you're doing is you're helping us here keep these podcasts free. And for those who have, absolutely thank you very much. Like really, really do appreciate it. And there's more and more coming as well. Some really good stuff. And if you have anything that you want to get in contact with us, you can find us on Twitter at FFS Pod or on Facebook. Email us, what do you want on the podcast? What do you want on the website? And then we'll try and provide that. any questions, anything at all regarding these headlines. And again, I I really like this podcast. I think the headlines will carry on throughout the course of the season. And again, as more and more content comes through, and hopefully we'll be in vision as well at one stage. And I'll have all the papers in front of me. Little bit of Gazette Deled Sport remember the from from a Sunday afternoon in the nineties. yeah, bit of James Richardson sit there with a I can sit there with a croissant and a and some orange juice, etc., on a Sunday morning going through the newspapers. But I think the interesting thing about headlines this week is that the headlines were made and again by people we know, by Leicester City supporters. I think the wider football press, they will all of a sudden latch on to Leicester really being poor in League One. But I think for now It's a local issue, isn't It's it's it's to do with the team, it's to do with how we feel as Leicester City supporters. And I think the absent the absence of apart from Henry Winter and and one or two others, but mainly Henry Winter, but the absence of coverage says it all. Football's moved on. The Premier League, the championship, that's all moving on. And Leicester are getting left behind. And left behind? Well Can it get any lower? Well, it can. I'm keeping up to date with Lenin. We're any 18th place. We can go lower. Anyway, we'll be back next week with the headlines once again. Make sure you subscribe to forfox8.news. Five a month, costs you a pint. And again, plenty of podcasts this week. Do subscribe to those. And I'll speak to you next time, hopefully, with some better headlines after what happens against Ipswich and especially against MK Dons. on Saturday. All the best if you go into Stadium MK, I'm gonna try and get along because I'm working in Milton Keynes on that day. Can I get out and get to the ground and get back without anyone see I don't know. I will try. Anyway, see you next week for more headlines and enjoy that interview with Rob Tanner. And as again, especially that last fifteen minutes, some really good memories regarding Leicester City and and and the glory days. Also, just a word of warning The first 30 seconds is actually silence on that podcast. Nope, I have no idea why either. It just happened. Outta my hands. There we go. See you next week.
