ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Join host Michelle Dawn Mooney for this special episode of FlowCast by Trillium Flow Technologies, as she sits down with Fred Jansen, General Manager of Trillium’s Netherlands facility, and Pepijn Esman, Engineering Manager for Red Point, to unveil the non-contact Rising Stem Ball Valve (RSBV)—a breakthrough engineered for extreme-service applications across oil & gas, petrochemical, power, and more.
From Concept to Launch:
The RSBV Story Fred and Pepijn trace the journey from customer pain points to first prototypes, revealing how strict reliability and fugitive-emission targets shaped every design decision. Developed entirely in-house, the RSBV reflects Trillium’s ability to respond to tight timelines while meeting high-performance demands.
The Non-Contact Advantage
Traditional ball valves rotate against the seat, creating friction and wear. The RSBV’s rising-stem design lifts the ball clear before rotation, delivering zero seat friction, longer service life, and consistent sealing. This innovation also minimizes the torque needed for operation, improving energy efficiency.
Helix Stem: Engineering in Motion
Pepijn explains the patented helix-shaped stem that converts linear motion into rotation, reducing torque requirements and enabling smooth, precise actuation—even under high pressure. This design ensures both durability and operational control in mission-critical settings.
Built for the Harshest Duties
Whether handling corrosive media, erosive slurries, or high-temperature steam, the RSBV excels where downtime is not an option. Fred outlines key specs and real-world scenarios in which the valve delivers immediate ROI. Applications include petrochemical isolation, power generation systems, and high-pressure gas containment.
Safety, Serviceability, and Speed
A blow-out-proof stem, visible open/close indicator, and true top-entry access keep crews safe and maintenance fast. In-house machining and stocked critical components mean Red Point can meet the industry’s shortest lead times—even with specialized testing requirements such as fugitive emissions and high-pressure gas protocols.
Trillium’s Customer-Centric DNA
The RSBV embodies Trillium’s commitment to innovation, quality, and solving real-world challenges—from strict emission standards to aggressive project schedules. The design showcases how Trillium continues to evolve its valve portfolio beyond Ballgate, Globe, and Jaxx offerings.
