ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Love What You Heard? Send a message!
You sit down to meet your future self, expecting a polished “next level” version with perfect habits and a bigger life. Then the door opens and what you see is… you. Not someday you. Present-day you, doing the work you love, living inside the very reality you thought you still had to earn.
We talk through a future self visualization that started as a full moon ritual and turned into an identity shift. This is mindset work for female founders who are scaling and tired of the inner critic narrating every move. What stops you is rarely a lack of knowledge. It’s the inner scripts and stories that block aligned action even when you know exactly what to do next.
What’s one script you’re ready to challenge this week?

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:07.360
If you are the person that you are right now and there's a place that you want to be, that is like a future version of yourself.
00:00:07.519 --> 00:00:15.519
And it is really helpful to think about what that future version of yourself would be doing so that you can close the gap.
00:00:16.480 --> 00:00:25.280
Welcome to Flip the Inner Script, a podcast for female founders who are over their inner critic showing up when they are scaling to bigger things.
00:00:25.440 --> 00:00:32.960
This podcast is for the woman who has built something and still finds herself wondering why success doesn't feel the way she thought it would.
00:00:33.119 --> 00:00:43.039
We'll dive deep into inner stories, social conditioning, self-leadership, identity, and what it actually takes to master being the woman who meets her next level.
00:00:43.200 --> 00:00:49.600
This is your permission slip to finally flip the script so that you can unlock the success you dream about.
00:00:49.759 --> 00:00:50.719
Let's go.
00:00:51.280 --> 00:00:52.320
Hello, hello.
00:00:52.479 --> 00:00:56.079
Welcome back to another episode of Flip the Inner Script.
00:00:56.240 --> 00:01:03.520
I am your host, Andrea, and today we are going to be talking about future self-visualizations.
00:01:03.759 --> 00:01:09.760
But in true Andrea fashion, it of course is not going to be in the way that you are probably thinking about.
00:01:10.079 --> 00:01:16.000
But I just have to share this with you because I have been thinking about it since it happened to me.
00:01:16.239 --> 00:01:26.159
And I feel like there's a lot of like rising conversation around like meditations and visualizations and affirmations and how powerful they can be.
00:01:26.400 --> 00:01:30.239
And I mean that is because they can be incredibly powerful.
00:01:30.480 --> 00:01:31.599
But I I don't know.
00:01:31.760 --> 00:01:35.200
I just felt like this one in particular really surprised me.
00:01:35.359 --> 00:01:36.640
It really blew me away.
00:01:36.879 --> 00:01:51.599
And I want to share the story with you so that you can take this and you know, the next time you sit down for a visualization or a meditation, you can really just like open up to let whatever is going to come through to come through.
00:01:51.840 --> 00:01:55.359
And maybe you will actually be a little bit surprised.
00:01:55.599 --> 00:02:08.240
So the first thing that I want to say about this topic is before I even get into like the story that I'm actually gonna tell, is I have like, okay, so I have historically been someone who struggles with sitting still.
00:02:08.400 --> 00:02:09.680
Maybe you can connect with this.
00:02:09.840 --> 00:02:12.800
I struggle with sitting still, I struggle with like closing my eyes.
00:02:12.960 --> 00:02:16.719
I remember the first time that I did a sound bath healing experience.
00:02:16.800 --> 00:02:18.879
I was like, oh my gosh, that sounds so cool.
00:02:19.039 --> 00:02:21.759
Like I really want to go and experience that.
00:02:21.919 --> 00:02:26.240
And we had to lay there quiet for like a pretty significant amount of time.
00:02:26.479 --> 00:02:27.919
And I really struggled.
00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:32.960
My mind was like kind of all over the place, and I was having a hard time like staying in the room.
00:02:33.120 --> 00:02:40.240
I mean, the vibrations of everything also like activated some stuff happening in my body that I wasn't expecting.
00:02:40.560 --> 00:02:49.599
But I I sometimes, even to this day, actually, uh, sometimes when I sit down to do a visualization, I like just can't get into it.
00:02:49.680 --> 00:02:53.439
Like I can't quite settle and and be present.
00:02:53.520 --> 00:02:56.639
It's getting a lot easier, but it's kind of like hit or miss.
00:02:56.800 --> 00:02:58.560
And I I think that's okay.
00:02:58.719 --> 00:03:01.360
It just like it depends where we are in our head.
00:03:01.520 --> 00:03:06.319
It depends, like, you know, who the person is who is doing the the visualization.
00:03:06.479 --> 00:03:17.599
I remember saying to my coach, um, I was doing a nervous system informed coaching certification, and she had a visualization in that course.
00:03:17.919 --> 00:03:28.080
And for some reason, like for whatever reason, I sat down on my bed and I like closed my eyes to listen to the visualization and like I like that I'm snapping.
00:03:28.159 --> 00:03:30.159
I literally just dropped in so quickly.
00:03:30.240 --> 00:03:43.199
I was like, I don't know if it was your voice or if it was just like I do think that visualization and meditation really is like a skill that you have to like hone in on and practice to be able to, you know, get good at it.
00:03:43.439 --> 00:03:54.240
Um, but I wanted to tell you the story of this future self-visation um because this was one of those moments where it was really easy for me to drop in.
00:03:54.560 --> 00:03:58.960
And what came out of it as a result, I was so surprised.
00:03:59.199 --> 00:04:01.039
So this actually happened last year.
00:04:01.199 --> 00:04:08.560
A friend and I were getting together for a full moon ritual, and it actually lined up with her birthday last year in August.
00:04:08.719 --> 00:04:12.479
And so it was perfect because it was like, okay, we'll do this full moon ritual.
00:04:12.560 --> 00:04:23.040
It's your birthday, we'll do like some releasing, we'll get ready for like, you know, what's to come and and the fall, and you know, finishing out this year like incredibly.
00:04:23.439 --> 00:04:29.279
And so we get outside, we like start a fire, we gather all of the things for full mooning.
00:04:29.360 --> 00:04:37.920
We've got our workbook or our notebooks, we've got like some some Pelo Santo, you know, we've got the Oracle cards, we've got the whole thing.
00:04:38.160 --> 00:04:41.920
And um, and I was like, okay, like what you know, what do we want to do?
00:04:42.079 --> 00:04:43.199
What do we want to journal on?
00:04:43.279 --> 00:04:44.800
What do we want to visualize about?
00:04:44.959 --> 00:04:47.839
And so I actually asked um chat at that time.
00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:50.079
I was like, we're gonna do a full moon ritual.
00:04:50.240 --> 00:04:57.199
Um, it's August, you know, we have a birthday, like what sort of prompts can you give us to like move through this particular one?
00:04:57.360 --> 00:05:00.800
And so it actually gave us a prompt for visualization.
00:05:00.959 --> 00:05:04.160
So it was like, you know, visualize your future self.
00:05:04.319 --> 00:05:06.160
And and I hear about this a lot, right?
00:05:06.240 --> 00:05:14.319
Is it's like if you are the person that you are right now and there's a place that you want to be, that is like a future version of yourself.
00:05:14.639 --> 00:05:22.160
And it is really helpful to think about what that future version of yourself would be doing so that you can close the gap, right?
00:05:22.240 --> 00:05:37.040
I talk a lot about like closing the gap of like when you can create awareness of where you are and and where you want to be and where the gap is between what that version of yourself is doing and what this version of yourself is doing, then you have like a roadmap.
00:05:37.199 --> 00:05:45.680
We can't go anywhere unless we know how we're gonna get there, or like we can't get to a destination if we're not sure exactly where we're going, you know?
00:05:45.920 --> 00:05:50.959
Um, so I do really believe there's actually a lot of power in future self visualizations.
00:05:51.360 --> 00:05:54.160
Um, and so I was like, okay, like let's do it.
00:05:54.240 --> 00:06:12.560
Let's, I I also believe they're like a good kind of like check-in of like, because there's so many, there's so many visualizations out there, there's so many conversations about future self, and there's so many prompts about things you could be doing and and things you want, you know, how you want your day to look like and all these sorts of things.
00:06:12.639 --> 00:06:16.959
And so it's it's really valuable to like figure out what you want that to look like.
00:06:17.199 --> 00:06:19.120
And also that can change over time.
00:06:19.279 --> 00:06:36.240
So when you have these like regular opportunities where you get quiet with yourself and you think about what you want that to look like, then you can kind of get there and know like where, you know, if you have to like reroute or redirect the GPS to to where you're going.
00:06:36.399 --> 00:06:41.920
So it prompted us to do this visualization and it was like very simple, basic.
00:06:42.079 --> 00:06:53.360
It wasn't like what is this whole lavish life look like of this future self-visualization, but it very much was like a okay, what is this version of you doing day in and day out?
00:06:53.519 --> 00:06:57.439
So it was like all of these prompts that I find actually to be really helpful.
00:06:57.600 --> 00:07:06.879
So if you're sitting down thinking about, oh, I it's you know, it's my time to do uh future self-visualization, like maybe you can note some of these things from this particular prompt.
00:07:07.040 --> 00:07:09.759
So it's like, you know, what are where are you?
00:07:10.480 --> 00:07:11.839
What are you doing?
00:07:12.079 --> 00:07:13.519
What are you wearing?
00:07:13.759 --> 00:07:15.040
What are you thinking about?
00:07:15.199 --> 00:07:16.639
What are you excited about?
00:07:16.800 --> 00:07:19.759
Like how is she in that moment in time?
00:07:20.480 --> 00:07:23.680
How is she conducting her days?
00:07:23.839 --> 00:07:26.160
Like, what is she doing when she wakes up in the morning?
00:07:26.240 --> 00:07:28.160
Like kind of like building a day.
00:07:28.399 --> 00:07:29.680
So that's what we did.
00:07:29.839 --> 00:07:39.040
So we, you know, put on some tunes, we sat down, we like really got into the zone, and and I kind of just let it flow.
00:07:39.279 --> 00:07:43.839
And so it was like, imagine it starts off with imagining yourself in a field.
00:07:44.000 --> 00:07:46.399
This is what I this is what I do often, I feel.
00:07:46.480 --> 00:07:47.759
And you know what's funny?
00:07:47.920 --> 00:08:02.000
Um, little sidebar story here is I actually went to a launch event for a friend of mine who launched um uh Oracle Deck, and she did a visualization with us, and she had us visualize this field.
00:08:02.240 --> 00:08:14.720
And since that moment, every time I start a visualization and I have to visualize this field, I actually go back to that exact same field in my mind, not consciously, like unconsciously.
00:08:14.879 --> 00:08:22.160
Cause when we did that visualization, you know, uh my dog came through to me in that moment and it was like a really special.
00:08:23.120 --> 00:08:24.959
Oh, I'm getting choked up a little bit.
00:08:25.199 --> 00:08:35.039
It was a really special reunion that her and I had in that visualization, and I like felt her, like I felt every ounce of her in my body at that moment.
00:08:35.440 --> 00:08:36.080
Wow.
00:08:37.039 --> 00:08:41.120
We're gonna just take a minute for these because you know, that's what we do.
00:08:41.279 --> 00:08:42.879
We allow the emotions to come through.
00:08:43.279 --> 00:08:47.759
Okay, so anyway, every time I do visualizations, I go back to that same field.
00:08:47.919 --> 00:08:52.080
So it was like, okay, you're in the field, and then there's a door.
00:08:52.320 --> 00:09:00.879
And then when you go through that door, you're going to meet that future version of yourself in all of those prompts that I shared earlier, right?
00:09:00.960 --> 00:09:02.480
Like go into the day.
00:09:02.720 --> 00:09:03.759
What is she doing?
00:09:03.919 --> 00:09:05.039
What is she saying?
00:09:05.279 --> 00:09:06.320
What is she wearing?
00:09:06.480 --> 00:09:09.519
So I'm I'm walking through this path in my mind.
00:09:09.679 --> 00:09:14.080
I'm really, I'm really settled, I'm really centered within myself.
00:09:14.240 --> 00:09:20.000
And I see myself walking up to the door and I open the door handle.
00:09:20.240 --> 00:09:28.799
And when I open the door, I saw myself exactly where I'm sitting right now as I record this podcast episode.
00:09:29.039 --> 00:09:35.840
I saw myself at my desk doing this exact thing that I'm doing with you right now.
00:09:36.000 --> 00:09:41.120
Now, last year I had been thinking about the podcast and wanting to bring it back.
00:09:41.279 --> 00:09:51.279
I had no idea what that would look like and how I would make that happen and who I would have to pull in to support me to produce this podcast.
00:09:51.440 --> 00:09:57.919
Um, but it was something that has has been on my heart, like I shared with you, you know, since I put it down in 2023.
00:09:58.080 --> 00:10:03.279
And so I saw myself at my desk talking into my microphone.
00:10:03.519 --> 00:10:13.360
I was wearing a pink t-shirt that I so I when I went and did my retreat in Punta Cana, I went shopping.
00:10:13.679 --> 00:10:24.960
Obviously, I went and bought a few outfits that I knew that I wanted to wear for certain activities because of course I was gonna be photographed and I just like wanted to feel my best in those moments.
00:10:25.120 --> 00:10:30.480
And so in this visualization, I was wearing this like pink t-shirt.
00:10:30.559 --> 00:10:44.159
It's this hot pink t-shirt, and on the back, there is like a beautiful picture of a sunrise, and I was like, I am gonna wear this shirt when I do the sunrise visualization on the beach, like the alignment of that is so perfect.
00:10:44.399 --> 00:10:56.240
So I'm sitting at my desk wearing this shirt, and I looked at myself, and you know, she was I was excited talking about the podcast episode, like talking about whatever I was talking about.
00:10:56.399 --> 00:11:00.080
Shit, maybe I was literally doing the episode of this visualization.
00:11:00.240 --> 00:11:01.840
That would be like inception.
00:11:02.240 --> 00:11:06.639
I'm having an inception moment right now, a total deja vu.
00:11:06.879 --> 00:11:08.240
I'm not wearing that shirt though.
00:11:08.399 --> 00:11:09.840
Um, I should have worn that shirt.
00:11:09.919 --> 00:11:11.120
Okay, anyway.
00:11:11.679 --> 00:11:16.960
So I'm recording of the podcast and I'm like, okay, what else is she doing today?
00:11:17.120 --> 00:11:21.679
And I was reflecting on, you know, the clients that I would be seeing that day.
00:11:21.919 --> 00:11:23.919
And what else did I do with my day?
00:11:24.080 --> 00:11:25.679
She had like a slow morning.
00:11:25.840 --> 00:11:31.039
Like, you know, I'm looking at the body of the woman that is sitting in this, in this position.
00:11:31.279 --> 00:11:40.480
And all of a sudden, I I had this realization of like, oh my gosh, you know, this is me.
00:11:40.639 --> 00:11:48.320
Like I am she, like this future version of myself that I see doing the things that I want to do.
00:11:48.480 --> 00:11:54.720
Like, she's here, she's here already, and I see her, and she's doing the things.
00:11:55.039 --> 00:12:00.240
And I just like I've, you know, I felt myself smiling like so big.
00:12:00.320 --> 00:12:09.360
And it was, it was just this like lock-in moment of like we are always looking to the future, right?
00:12:09.519 --> 00:12:11.360
It's like, you know, what else can I do?
00:12:11.440 --> 00:12:12.559
What else can I accomplish?
00:12:12.720 --> 00:12:14.240
What big goals do I have?
00:12:14.399 --> 00:12:16.399
Like, where do I want to be?
00:12:16.639 --> 00:12:25.519
And it was this reminder of like that woman that you want to be is already present inside of you.
00:12:25.679 --> 00:12:41.360
And it's less about becoming this other version of yourself and more about like returning to the things that really make you feel most grounded in who you are.
00:12:41.600 --> 00:12:54.960
So we came out of the visualization, and then I was just like writing about all the things that I saw and all like the realizations that I had, and um, and it was like such a beautiful moment.
00:12:55.360 --> 00:13:15.279
And you know, I actually thought about the reason that I'm recording this podcast episode today, almost a year later, because it is actually over a year later, because it it connects with me so much still, is that one of the things that I've been really trying to do more regularly is getting into a journaling practice.
00:13:15.440 --> 00:13:17.120
Like I really love writing.
00:13:17.679 --> 00:13:20.879
Obviously, I've you know been published seven times.
00:13:20.960 --> 00:13:22.000
I've written two books.
00:13:22.080 --> 00:13:30.000
Like I love to write, and I love the idea of journaling, like bringing a pen to paper, being alone and quiet with your thoughts.
00:13:30.159 --> 00:13:36.320
And sometimes I still find myself sitting down to journal and I'm not quite sure like what to write about.
00:13:36.639 --> 00:13:39.200
And so I got this book from chapters.
00:13:39.279 --> 00:13:47.840
Um, it's a Brianna Weist um, like journal prompt, and it's on the front it says, I am the hero of my own life.
00:13:48.159 --> 00:13:52.799
And it's you know, over a hundred pages, but there's a lot of like prompts inside.
00:13:52.879 --> 00:14:02.559
So there's like a prompt at the top of the page, and then there's like lines where you can just like journal and and and reflect on whatever she's writing about.
00:14:02.799 --> 00:14:15.919
Um, and so one of the pages was asking, you know, like when what does the most embodied version of you, something along these lines of like what does, you know, that most embodied future version of you look like?
00:14:16.159 --> 00:14:37.120
And I found myself in that moment again thinking about this visualization that I had, where I was going into it thinking that I was doing a future self-visualization, but instead I was just seeing myself as I am right now in this moment doing the things that I love.
00:14:37.360 --> 00:14:48.159
And and it again, it struck me and it reminded me of like sometimes we're reaching for those, those better, more evolved versions.
00:14:48.399 --> 00:15:03.120
I don't want even actually even want to use the word better, but sometimes we're reaching for this like really evolved embodied version of ourselves, and we forget to like pause and look at the version of ourselves that exists now.
00:15:03.360 --> 00:15:13.120
And maybe it's likely, actually, not maybe, it's likely that there are elements of her that already exist in your reality right now.
00:15:13.279 --> 00:15:23.279
There's so many elements of like who I envisioned the most authentic, the most embodied, the most evolved version of myself.
00:15:23.360 --> 00:15:27.360
Like those so many pieces of her exist now.
00:15:27.600 --> 00:15:37.039
Um, and I I would put money on the fact that there's also a lot of elements of her that exist in you right now.
00:15:37.440 --> 00:15:52.720
But I think what happens for a lot of us is we have this authentic version of ourselves that exists within us, and then the stories or the inner scripts that we have adopted throughout the course of our lives, then block that, right?
00:15:52.799 --> 00:15:58.320
So it's like, I know what I want and I know what I want to ask for, and I know where I'm going.
00:15:58.559 --> 00:16:00.080
Boop, up comes that story.
00:16:00.320 --> 00:16:10.559
Oh, actually, no, you're not doing that, or we're not doing that, or I was having a conversation with a friend recently, and and she's got some stuff going on in her business.
00:16:10.879 --> 00:16:22.080
And um I asked her, I said, Do you something I don't remember the exact question that I asked her, but essentially she was talking about a challenging situation that she's in.
00:16:22.320 --> 00:16:36.320
And I said to her, I said, if there was none of these factors on the outside and none of your stories and scripts existed, would you know what the best thing to do for yourself in this situation is?
00:16:36.639 --> 00:16:40.639
And she said, Yeah, I know exactly what I need to do in this situation.
00:16:40.879 --> 00:16:44.240
And so then I said, Okay, but why aren't you doing it?
00:16:44.399 --> 00:17:02.639
And then it was like, oh, well, because of this and because of that, and because of this, and it's like all of these other stories that are blocking her from just moving forward in a way that makes the most sense for her and is the most aligned for her of where she wants to go in her growth and in her business.
00:17:02.879 --> 00:17:05.200
And isn't that true for so many of us?
00:17:05.440 --> 00:17:17.759
It's like we know what we need to do, we know how we want to move, but then we create all of these reasons, all of these excuses.
00:17:18.480 --> 00:17:28.880
We negotiate with ourselves about, you know, how much we're actually gonna do or how much we're, you know, it's okay if if I allow this or I allow that.
00:17:29.119 --> 00:17:42.079
But the the reality is is that that future you that you are striving to become, or, you know, you look at other women and you're like, oh my gosh, I wish that I could do that.
00:17:42.240 --> 00:17:44.000
I wish that I could have that success.
00:17:44.240 --> 00:17:51.599
I wish that I could show up and sell, I wish that I could, you know, implement and keep that boundary.
00:17:51.920 --> 00:17:54.960
You can that that version of you is there.
00:17:55.119 --> 00:18:03.839
She can do that, but we have to remove all of these stories and all of these scripts that prevent us from getting to that spot.
00:18:04.480 --> 00:18:20.400
So I hope that in sharing this future visualization story with you that I had over a year ago that is still continuing to blow my mind, that it inspires you to number one, maybe you need to do a little bit of a visualization today.
00:18:20.559 --> 00:18:21.920
Maybe it's been a while.
00:18:22.160 --> 00:18:40.319
And number two, perhaps looking at or exploring the potential that that version of you that you want to be, who is showing up in her business the way that you want to show up, is showing up in her life the way that you want to show up.
00:18:40.559 --> 00:18:42.319
She knows what she needs to do.
00:18:42.480 --> 00:18:44.160
She's already in you.
00:18:44.400 --> 00:18:55.839
You just have to explore and examine and challenge the scripts that are playing when you're looking at making those decisions or moving that way, because that is the key.
00:18:56.079 --> 00:19:14.079
Girlfriend, when you can flip that script and master your mindset, you will become absolutely unstoppable and you will allow that fullest version of yourself to come out because she is already inside you.
