ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Here in the Southeast, heart disease and hypertension are common illnesses affecting many in the community. One serious outcome of these is heart failure, or ineffective pumping of blood to the body due to increased resistance to push it out, or damaged heart muscle which cannot eject much blood volume with each beat.
I sat down with cardiologist and heart failure specialist, Dr. Amin Yehya. He is an advanced heart failure and heart transplant cardiologist. In addition to being the medical director for advanced heart failure services at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital, Dr. Yehya is a clinical assistant professor at Augusta University and Mercer University. He is a member of the MAG Institute for Excellence in Medicine’s Board of Directors, he serves on several MAG committees, and he is a member of the Medical Association of Atlanta’s Board of Directors.
Dr. Yehya earned a medical and master’s of science degree from the American University of Beirut, while he completed his internal medicine residency at Emory University, his cardiology training at the Medical College of Georgia, and his advanced heart failure training at Stanford University. Dr. Yehya is active in research, he is well published, and he has presented his work at national and international medical meetings.
