ABOUT THIS EPISODE
In this episode of the Rockies Now Podcast, Stephen and Sarah break down another difficult week of Rockies baseball, highlighted by a rough series against the Dodgers, mounting injuries, and growing concerns about the team's pitching depth. The duo discusses the latest MLB collective bargaining agreement proposals and what potential salary floors, revenue sharing changes, and expansion plans could mean for the future of the Rockies and small-market teams across baseball. They also debate possible expansion cities such as Nashville, Salt Lake City, and Montreal while examining how realignment could eventually impact Colorado’s place in the NL West. On the field, the conversation focuses on the Rockies’ battered roster, including injuries to key contributors, the ongoing struggles of the starting rotation, and the surprising emergence of Brett Sullivan as both a hitter and emergency pitcher. The hosts evaluate the performances of players like Kyle Freeland, Michael Lorenzen, Tanner Gordon, Antonio Senzatela, and Ezequiel Tovar while also discussing the encouraging progress being made throughout the Rockies’ minor league system. Looking ahead, Stephen and Sarah preview upcoming series against the Giants and Angels, share reasons for optimism despite the recent losing streak, and discuss what needs to happen for the Rockies to regain momentum as the season continues.
