ABOUT THIS EPISODE
This Episode in Brief. 📝
In today's digital age, STEM isn't just an acronym; it's an integral part of our daily lives. It’s Zoom calls, AI 🤖, digital wallets, and coding boot camps 💻. But amidst the tech frenzy, a harsh reality persists. Children in low-income communities are being left behind, while we race towards a tech-driven future.
Join us as we delve into one of the most pressing equity issues of our time: How can we bring STEM education to communities at risk, and in the process, cultivate the next generation of STEM leaders? 🌟
In this episode, we unveil two compelling narratives.
In Los Angeles, we connect with Jacob Adams, the visionary behind STEM to the Future. It's a nonprofit that ignites young minds in low-income areas with hands-on STEM experiences. Jacob's mission is clear: empower kids to shape their futures and communities through STEAM. 🔬
Here's a great takeaway from Jacob's interview.
Age isn't a prerequisite to change. They [children] can...play a meaningful role in creating the future. Because if not, they're going to get a future that they had no say in creating.
-Jacob Adams, Founder and Executive Director, STEM to the Future
Venturing to Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, we meet Phillip St. James, a CSR expert at Sanofi. He sheds light on how Sanofi builds healthcare trust in underserved communities and drives STEM education outreach to students of color. 💊📚
Here's a great takeaway from Phillip's interview.
People recognize that there is a lack of diversity in [the] STEM pipeline right now. And the information is there. I think the only thing is just having the resources to be able to bring it [STEM education] to so many.
-Phillip St. James, Associate Director, CSR & Community Relations, Sanofi
