WEBVTT
00:00:34.051 -->
00:00:37.611All right, everybody. Welcome. I'm here.
00:00:38.255 -->
00:00:41.427Obviously, we're not doing a video podcast today, but we are doing an audio
00:00:41.427 -->
00:00:44.780one. And I'm here with Matthew, who y'all met before.
00:00:45.548 -->
00:00:50.467We actually tried to record a podcast a couple of weeks ago and video file didn't
00:00:50.467 -->
00:00:56.387save. So I explained all that in the last thing. But so we're doing an audio
00:00:56.387 -->
00:00:59.581this way. We're just going to record it and we're praying that this works.
00:01:00.086 -->
00:01:05.727So Jesus we come to you today Lord we just ask that the Holy Spirit fill this
00:01:05.727 -->
00:01:10.897place that it takes over this conversation and that quite frankly that we're
00:01:10.897 -->
00:01:13.364not speaking but it's you speaking through us,
00:01:13.904 -->
00:01:18.113and that whoever even if it's one person or if it's a million people,
00:01:18.700 -->
00:01:23.227hear this message that it's for the you know that that they get something from
00:01:23.227 -->
00:01:25.761you and they get you You get your message across,
00:01:26.417 -->
00:01:32.030and it is what you want them to hear and not any agenda that I have or that Matthew has.
00:01:32.442 -->
00:01:36.247We want to take self completely out of it and just let the Holy Spirit speak.
00:01:36.247 -->
00:01:41.833So Matthew, in Jesus' name, amen. Matthew, if you'll introduce yourself again,
00:01:41.978 -->
00:01:46.451tell everybody who you are very briefly, but then we'll begin.
00:01:46.846 -->
00:01:49.822Yeah, I'm Matthew. Thanks, buddy.
00:01:51.227 -->
00:01:57.15324 and been walking with the Lord. For two, two and a half years now.
00:01:58.079 -->
00:01:59.907And he's the one with the dog. Hey, go lie down.
00:02:01.087 -->
00:02:04.079He's outside. I put him outside.
00:02:06.487 -->
00:02:09.437We don't need a dog yelling clip again. Yeah, so me and Matthew,
00:02:09.437 -->
00:02:12.741we actually met through work, and we're both part of the same ministry,
00:02:13.002 -->
00:02:15.614Quest Life, which we've talked about previously, too.
00:02:16.397 -->
00:02:24.007And we've spent a lot of time together, mostly through work and grown together spiritually.
00:02:24.487 -->
00:02:30.819And we kind of bonded that way. And now we've kind of become like spiritual brothers where.
00:02:31.857 -->
00:02:35.579I lean on him and he leans on me for stuff and, and, you know,
00:02:35.579 -->
00:02:38.955it just, we try to help direct each other back to God.
00:02:39.216 -->
00:02:43.029I would take everything that, you know, whatever we're dealing with or whatever,
00:02:43.029 -->
00:02:47.249and we direct the other one back to God and take it to God and pray about it.
00:02:47.249 -->
00:02:51.779And, and I mean, he's even given us messages for each other through,
00:02:51.779 -->
00:02:55.149throughout our time as being friends and brothers.
00:02:55.149 -->
00:03:00.279So he actually reached out to me today. So you reached out to me wanting to
00:03:00.279 -->
00:03:03.269record a podcast and get this episode done.
00:03:04.126 -->
00:03:07.731So I feel like you did that because God put something on your heart.
00:03:08.742 -->
00:03:14.746Um not i mean he did share something with me earlier,
00:03:15.620 -->
00:03:20.461because i've been you know sometimes we i think we battle with these things
00:03:20.461 -->
00:03:23.571and then they come back and we're like well lord you didn't do what you said
00:03:23.571 -->
00:03:30.403you did right and he kind of put it down very simply for me he's like,
00:03:31.176 -->
00:03:35.564well you know when people get older their taste buds change and stuff yeah,
00:03:36.363 -->
00:03:39.791he's like well just because you get older and you don't like the same foods
00:03:39.791 -->
00:03:43.126that you like, that doesn't mean that salt isn't salty anymore, right?
00:03:43.775 -->
00:03:53.751And sugar isn't sweet anymore. It still tastes sweet, but you learn to not enjoy.
00:03:54.349 -->
00:03:56.061I can hear the baby. Oh, man.
00:03:57.948 -->
00:04:01.151That's alright. I'm giving him a snack. We're sitting up here.
00:04:01.651 -->
00:04:06.713So if y'all hear the baby throughout this, guys, just bear with us. We're doing our best.
00:04:07.288 -->
00:04:11.531I got the AirPod then hoping that it wasn't going to affect it but we stagged
00:04:11.531 -->
00:04:16.471it but of course he's sitting here quiet and then all of a sudden he gets hungry
00:04:16.471 -->
00:04:19.891and he can't control that because he's 13 months old and stuff,
00:04:21.728 -->
00:04:29.881but nah go on yeah I know go on but yeah just cause just cause you still are
00:04:29.881 -->
00:04:33.357taking it occasionally and cause,
00:04:35.476 -->
00:04:36.831the dang baby man.
00:04:39.145 -->
00:04:43.481But yeah, once you get older, like you don't like sugar as much.
00:04:43.481 -->
00:04:45.728Like you don't seek out sweets anymore.
00:04:46.351 -->
00:04:51.101It's kind of like what gets delivered from like even having me like with lust.
00:04:51.101 -->
00:04:56.091Like, yeah, naked women are still, they're attractive, but it's not what I'm
00:04:56.091 -->
00:04:59.084seeking out anymore. Yeah. Yeah.
00:04:59.795 -->
00:05:07.129No, yeah. I might fall in it, but it's a lot different than what it was. Right. Right.
00:05:07.765 -->
00:05:10.372So, I mean, yeah, I mean, that makes sense because like, I mean,
00:05:10.372 -->
00:05:12.942honestly, and that's, that's our, that's our walk, right?
00:05:12.942 -->
00:05:17.581I mean, that's, that's, that's what it is growing a relationship with him is
00:05:17.999 -->
00:05:21.552when you're spending time with him and you know, he's right there in the room
00:05:21.552 -->
00:05:25.972with you, you're not going to do some of the things that, that you would have done before.
00:05:25.972 -->
00:05:30.312And it's not because it's not necessarily out of fear or anything like that.
00:05:31.152 -->
00:05:35.522You lose the want to do those things, you know, because you know that whatever
00:05:35.522 -->
00:05:38.292it is that he has is going to be better than that anyway. So,
00:05:38.292 -->
00:05:42.682like, you know, I think as a kid, you know, you're like you,
00:05:42.682 -->
00:05:45.073I'm just taking it back to sugar. You were talking about sugar.
00:05:45.525 -->
00:05:48.992And like as a kid, like, yeah, dude, I mean, hey, that cupcake looks good and
00:05:48.992 -->
00:05:51.252that candy looks good or whatever.
00:05:51.252 -->
00:05:54.492But once you eat enough of that, then you start getting that stomach ache.
00:05:54.492 -->
00:06:01.731And as you get older, you realize, like, hey, also ribeye steaks are a thing. You know what I mean?
00:06:03.135 -->
00:06:08.202You offer me a cupcake or a ribeye is not a question of which one I'm going
00:06:08.202 -->
00:06:10.235after. You know what I mean? So, I mean.
00:06:10.450 -->
00:06:14.172Yeah, I don't feel like crap after eating a ribeye. No, you know.
00:06:14.172 -->
00:06:17.122I mean, you might feel full. It depends on what you have with it.
00:06:17.122 -->
00:06:21.222But, like, you know, but, I mean, at the same time, like, it's enough.
00:06:21.222 -->
00:06:24.065It's good. It's delicious. And it's going to sustain you.
00:06:24.407 -->
00:06:26.902As to where, like, the cupcake, dude, it's like a quick fix.
00:06:26.902 -->
00:06:30.160You know, yeah, it tastes good for a minute. And then all of a sudden,
00:06:30.497 -->
00:06:34.421it wasn't worth the risk. You know, the risk isn't worth the reward type thing.
00:06:34.839 -->
00:06:37.904You know, that's a fleeting thing when it comes to that. Like,
00:06:38.310 -->
00:06:41.480it's the same thing with, like, lust. You know, if you're looking at porn...
00:06:42.166 -->
00:06:47.507If you're looking at porn all the time, yeah, you want to do that or whatever
00:06:47.507 -->
00:06:51.287because you're like, oh, I'm attracted to this, and it makes you feel good for
00:06:51.287 -->
00:06:54.559a second. And then once that's gone, you kind of feel gross.
00:06:54.803 -->
00:06:59.011It's like having that stomach ache after eating too many cupcakes.
00:06:59.406 -->
00:07:02.557You're like, you just feel at the end of it.
00:07:03.057 -->
00:07:05.391And so it's not worth it.
00:07:06.778 -->
00:07:10.257Hold on just a second. Yeah. You can talk.
00:07:10.257 -->
00:07:17.157Just i'm gonna guys i'm gonna have to dad so yeah that's fine no and it's like
00:07:17.157 -->
00:07:22.517uh you're saying like your spirit changes but the same flesh is still on your
00:07:22.517 -->
00:07:24.157flesh didn't just walk away and,
00:07:25.370 -->
00:07:29.437completely changed so i mean they're always going to try to use the same things
00:07:29.437 -->
00:07:34.313that used to work but that's the whole point of the relationship with god right
00:07:34.313 -->
00:07:39.180so that he can change the spirit and that way the spirit is stronger than the flesh,
00:07:39.841 -->
00:07:44.507yeah well and then that's where you crucify it daily right you know I mean you
00:07:44.507 -->
00:07:49.084get to get to that point where we're crucifying it daily and then eventually you know,
00:07:49.796 -->
00:07:55.849that that's gonna become more of a habit than what the other thing was you know,
00:07:56.639 -->
00:08:00.331yeah how's that scripture go is it like oppose the devil and he will flee,
00:08:02.552 -->
00:08:06.325yeah yeah it sucks because you know when we're in those moves it's um.
00:08:08.577 -->
00:08:13.577Yeah I couldn't remember well I could have quoted it to you if we wouldn't have
00:08:13.577 -->
00:08:16.631brought it up yeah of course,
00:08:17.719 -->
00:08:25.327but yeah the only way to break free from your flesh is by not feeding yeah resist
00:08:25.327 -->
00:08:27.223the devil and he will yes yeah,
00:08:28.318 -->
00:08:31.909Yeah, you know, of course, when we're in those moods, that sounds impossible
00:08:31.909 -->
00:08:35.726sometimes, but all things are possible through him.
00:08:36.357 -->
00:08:40.349You know, that's kind of like, and it depends, I mean, it doesn't depend.
00:08:40.349 -->
00:08:45.059I mean, it just is, it could be any circumstance. I mean, you could take that
00:08:45.059 -->
00:08:49.852one and address it to any one of those things, you know, even anger and rage.
00:08:50.357 -->
00:08:54.049Like if you're taking the steps to take every thought captive,
00:08:54.426 -->
00:08:58.189somebody cuts you off in traffic or somebody does something that offends you.
00:08:58.189 -->
00:09:04.737You're getting upset, you're getting angry, then you learn through practice,
00:09:05.449 -->
00:09:09.408as you're walking with Christ, like, well, it says, be angry, but do not sin.
00:09:09.780 -->
00:09:12.929So what does that mean? Like, something can get you upset. Something can make
00:09:12.929 -->
00:09:17.659you angry, and you can be angry about something, but it's how you respond to it.
00:09:17.659 -->
00:09:23.898And so if you learn to not respond out of anger and instead take a second,
00:09:24.839 -->
00:09:28.185take a breath, say a prayer and take that to the Lord,
00:09:29.780 -->
00:09:34.839then you're going to come, okay, well, let me hold on that. You know.
00:09:36.979 -->
00:09:41.349Let me not lash out at this person and instead let me try to see it from their
00:09:41.349 -->
00:09:44.495side or see them in a more spiritual way.
00:09:46.397 -->
00:09:51.337Then you're like, oh, well, that person did that because they were hurt by something,
00:09:51.819 -->
00:09:56.562that And whether you cause that hurt or not, something is hurting that person.
00:09:57.067 -->
00:10:02.338Something is causing them to react that way. And you don't know what's going on in their life.
00:10:02.686 -->
00:10:05.449Maybe that person flew by you and cut you off because they're trying to rush
00:10:05.449 -->
00:10:07.939to the hospital because they just got the worst phone call in their life.
00:10:08.334 -->
00:10:14.179You know what I mean? And instead of going and holding your hand out the window
00:10:14.179 -->
00:10:16.759telling them that they're number one, you know what I mean,
00:10:18.059 -->
00:10:20.414and calling them everything but what their mother named them,
00:10:20.931 -->
00:10:28.189Your Your response is like I'm gonna pray for that person Whatever is Whatever
00:10:28.189 -->
00:10:30.766is affecting them That You know.
00:10:32.352 -->
00:10:36.143That God takes care of, takes hold of that situation and meets them where they're at.
00:10:36.903 -->
00:10:41.118And then it opens the door for forgiveness because then you're like, you know what?
00:10:41.675 -->
00:10:46.029It doesn't matter why they did that. I love them. I forgive them and move on.
00:10:46.516 -->
00:10:50.863And if it's something more personal where, you know, like somebody that you
00:10:50.863 -->
00:10:54.690love lashes out at you or does something that hurts you.
00:10:55.196 -->
00:11:01.103Like it's kind of like you know when the podcast that i had with juan he was
00:11:01.103 -->
00:11:04.543talking about like you know some of the things that had happened to him where
00:11:04.543 -->
00:11:06.381someone that he loved hurt him,
00:11:07.008 -->
00:11:12.683and and and he had this this vision of like of wanting to seek this revenge
00:11:12.683 -->
00:11:15.363and all that that's what he was feeling he wanted revenge right,
00:11:15.965 -->
00:11:21.103and this vision that god gave him was him standing there with this rock this
00:11:21.103 -->
00:11:24.452giant stone that he was he was going to stone this person,
00:11:25.114 -->
00:11:27.564because he was so angry and he was so hurt.
00:11:28.220 -->
00:11:32.923And Jesus stepped in in between him and the person that he was going to throw
00:11:32.923 -->
00:11:36.603the stone at. And he's like, I understand that you're hurt and I understand
00:11:36.603 -->
00:11:38.867that you're angry, but remember that I died.
00:11:39.418 -->
00:11:43.903I died for them too, right? So if you're going to throw the stone at anybody,
00:11:43.903 -->
00:11:46.396throw that stone at me because I accepted that.
00:11:46.547 -->
00:11:50.071I accepted what they did to you when I was on the cross.
00:11:50.722 -->
00:11:53.403And he was like, of course, you didn't throw the stone at Christ.
00:11:53.403 -->
00:11:58.686He falls to his knees and starts bawling like a baby. But it's like.
00:12:03.253 -->
00:12:09.483That is walking with Christ. And that is growing from those things where rage
00:12:09.483 -->
00:12:13.173in the moment, and it may feel like this is going to make me feel better.
00:12:13.173 -->
00:12:16.002Revenge may make you feel like this is going to make me feel better.
00:12:16.903 -->
00:12:22.053But really, it's not. You know, really, we know that because through life,
00:12:22.053 -->
00:12:25.731We've done those things. We've raged on somebody and we've had revenge on people.
00:12:26.077 -->
00:12:28.509And really what it does is like, it makes you feel,
00:12:29.450 -->
00:12:33.821still bad. You know what I mean? It may make you feel better for a moment,
00:12:33.821 -->
00:12:37.664but the repercussions that come from it and the seed that you sow,
00:12:38.280 -->
00:12:44.588those are not going to spring forth good fruit. You know what I mean?
00:12:46.471 -->
00:12:49.841And I think that's kind of what you're getting at is like you're losing the
00:12:49.841 -->
00:12:55.261taste for some of these things that maybe you used to seek out,
00:12:55.261 -->
00:12:59.551you used to go for, and you're like, you're like, man, why is this happening?
00:12:59.551 -->
00:13:02.161Why I not want to be around these people to do this anymore?
00:13:02.161 -->
00:13:05.001Why do I not want to go look at this thing anymore?
00:13:05.001 -->
00:13:09.768Why come every time I do go look at that thing, even when I do do that,
00:13:09.948 -->
00:13:14.651it makes me feel not as satisfied as it did before.
00:13:14.651 -->
00:13:19.341It's because you're losing that desire for it. You're desiring something more
00:13:19.341 -->
00:13:23.151righteous. You're desiring something more holy. You're desiring to be closer to Him.
00:13:23.447 -->
00:13:29.484And through spending time with Him, it's growing that desire you're hungry for the Lord yeah,
00:13:30.571 -->
00:13:36.671absolutely the daily honestly it's funny you brought up the vision Juan had,
00:13:37.391 -->
00:13:41.430he gave me around the same vision Sunday.
00:13:44.231 -->
00:13:47.945I was like I looked at porn and I was feeling terrible about it,
00:13:48.686 -->
00:13:55.261and he showed me a vision of me like I was trying to swing this stick at the old version of myself,
00:13:55.978 -->
00:14:00.831and he stuck his arm in and this stick snapped and he's like,
00:14:01.251 -->
00:14:05.266you can't beat up that guy anymore. You gotta forgive him.
00:14:06.096 -->
00:14:11.031I ended up just like falling on my knees and hugging the old version of myself
00:14:11.031 -->
00:14:13.010while I'm driving of course. It's just,
00:14:14.759 -->
00:14:19.330but yeah you gotta remember all these people that we get angry at it says not
00:14:19.330 -->
00:14:27.018to be angry at them at all right take the sin love the sinner you know yeah even if that is yourself,
00:14:28.022 -->
00:14:30.542yeah and sometimes that's the hardest thing you know dude,
00:14:32.320 -->
00:14:37.231yeah yeah so every time i'm like who do i have to forgive it's always me right.
00:14:39.420 -->
00:14:44.780Hey i don't want to he's an idiot yeah yeah and you get angry you know And hey,
00:14:44.972 -->
00:14:50.358listen, how many times have we wanted vengeance upon ourselves, you know?
00:14:51.263 -->
00:14:54.730Yeah. You know, like, I'm mad at me for doing this thing, you know?
00:14:54.730 -->
00:15:00.160Like, you know, I mean, that's, sometimes that's why we do the bad things that
00:15:00.160 -->
00:15:05.520we do is because we're trying to, you know, we call it self-medicate when we're
00:15:05.520 -->
00:15:09.258stuck in addiction, you know, with alcohol or drugs or whatever it may be.
00:15:09.618 -->
00:15:12.901But maybe a lot of times that's, it's self-harm.
00:15:13.319 -->
00:15:18.220You know, you don't have to get out the old razor blade or pocket knife to self-harm.
00:15:18.787 -->
00:15:22.642You know, a lot of times self-harm is through that addiction.
00:15:22.926 -->
00:15:26.640And I think we call it self-medicate. And that's probably, we need to change
00:15:26.640 -->
00:15:30.900the lingo on that. Because a lot of times we're self-harming.
00:15:30.900 -->
00:15:33.335Self-destruct. With self-destruction, right?
00:15:33.735 -->
00:15:37.580You know, another way that people put it is self-sabotage. You know,
00:15:38.340 -->
00:15:40.587if you're quick to anger, right?
00:15:41.156 -->
00:15:44.740So you're quick to anger. If you're in a relationship with, you know,
00:15:44.740 -->
00:15:48.140or it doesn't have to be a romantic relationship. It doesn't have to be marriage
00:15:48.140 -->
00:15:51.187or whatever else. It could be any kind of relationship with a group of friends,
00:15:51.732 -->
00:15:53.439or family or whatever else.
00:15:53.752 -->
00:15:59.366If every time you get around them and things start going good, it ends up blowing up.
00:15:59.563 -->
00:16:03.214And that happens when you're around and it makes you the common denominator.
00:16:03.980 -->
00:16:08.505There's probably something in you that is self-sabotaging, you know,
00:16:08.505 -->
00:16:11.275and maybe we take a step back and reflect on that. Like, hey,
00:16:11.275 -->
00:16:12.668everything was going great.
00:16:13.121 -->
00:16:17.105And then I let this one little thing annoy me. But this little thing happened
00:16:17.105 -->
00:16:20.770where I got offended and I lashed out at somebody and ruined,
00:16:21.072 -->
00:16:23.755you know, Christmas or Thanksgiving or whatever it may be or,
00:16:23.755 -->
00:16:26.424you know, ruined date night or whatever.
00:16:26.778 -->
00:16:30.655You know, I was at my kid, you know, me and my kid are having a day together.
00:16:30.655 -->
00:16:32.623And, you know, this is just an example.
00:16:32.898 -->
00:16:37.063But like I say, if I took my son Kendall out somewhere, we're supposed to have a good day.
00:16:38.235 -->
00:16:43.385And instead, I let something else creep in and ruin that or I get annoyed and
00:16:43.385 -->
00:16:44.830snap at him or something.
00:16:46.035 -->
00:16:49.525That's not good. But what am I doing there? It's not anything that Kendall would
00:16:49.525 -->
00:16:53.925have done that caused that. It would be self-sabotage. It would be me who loses
00:16:53.925 -->
00:16:57.328a temper and gets on to him for the littlest thing.
00:16:57.717 -->
00:17:01.797And what we do, I find with that is,
00:17:02.366 -->
00:17:08.860through growth and my personal life that I've realized that a lot of times,
00:17:09.693 -->
00:17:14.195when that happens, like, you know, if I lash out at my kid or something in the
00:17:14.195 -->
00:17:19.295past and I look back on it with something so small and so minor and really we
00:17:19.295 -->
00:17:23.557were having a great day and then all of a sudden that one little thing.
00:17:25.654 -->
00:17:29.325Will ruin it for me, right? That's not anything that the kid did.
00:17:29.325 -->
00:17:32.155It's not anything that anybody else did. It could have been a stranger.
00:17:32.155 -->
00:17:35.585Maybe I lashed out at a stranger, but I'm supposed to be having a good day with my kid, right?
00:17:36.202 -->
00:17:39.302And I lashed out at a stranger because of whatever reason.
00:17:40.129 -->
00:17:44.729That's me self-sabotaging. You know what it is? It's Stockholm Syndrome.
00:17:44.729 -->
00:17:46.875You get so comfortable in the chaos.
00:17:47.829 -->
00:17:51.479You get to where you're so comfortable in the chaos and the disruption because
00:17:51.479 -->
00:17:56.119that's all you've known since however long, you know, since you were a baby
00:17:56.119 -->
00:18:00.664or whatever else. Hey, speaking of, hey, look at, you know, chaos, you know.
00:18:01.909 -->
00:18:06.609But anyways, you know, you get so caught up in that and are so comfortable in
00:18:06.609 -->
00:18:11.228that that you end up, When things start going too well, you get this anxiety
00:18:11.617 -->
00:18:16.259to where, okay, I know something bad's going to happen, so let's go ahead and
00:18:16.259 -->
00:18:19.587kick this off because I can get comfortable in being that.
00:18:19.703 -->
00:18:22.169I'm used to that. Yeah. I'm not used to this feeling.
00:18:22.369 -->
00:18:26.359If I make it bad, then I know how bad it is. And it's a control thing where
00:18:26.359 -->
00:18:28.029you're controlling the situation.
00:18:28.429 -->
00:18:33.419If everything's going peacefully, if everything's going peacefully and you're
00:18:33.419 -->
00:18:36.989not used to that, you're getting nervous because you're wondering,
00:18:37.745 -->
00:18:41.049when is this going to get disrupted? And I'm not ready for somebody else to
00:18:41.049 -->
00:18:43.358disrupt this, so I'm just going to disrupt it now.
00:18:43.747 -->
00:18:48.309And you're not operating in what God has built you for. You're operating in
00:18:48.309 -->
00:18:51.059what you're comfortable. We don't consciously think that. You know,
00:18:51.059 -->
00:18:52.594we don't consciously think that.
00:18:52.699 -->
00:18:56.489But I believe that that is what is happening.
00:18:56.489 -->
00:19:02.179You know, and pretty sure that honestly, there's, I'm sure there's their studies
00:19:02.179 -->
00:19:05.939on that, you know, and then we call it mental disorders and we call it this
00:19:05.939 -->
00:19:08.465or we call this a chemical imbalance or it's whatever.
00:19:08.860 -->
00:19:11.979And maybe some of that's true, but
00:19:11.979 -->
00:19:16.449how much of that is, can be solved spiritually and say most of it can be.
00:19:16.449 -->
00:19:19.926If you get on the right level spiritually with God, you're following God,
00:19:20.489 -->
00:19:24.469most of that stuff is going to, you'll end up, one, being able to recognize
00:19:24.469 -->
00:19:27.220that it's going to fall away, and two.
00:19:28.227 -->
00:19:32.157He's going to heal that part of you when you recognize where that root is,
00:19:32.157 -->
00:19:40.059where that root problem started, whatever caused that, be it disruptive childhood, you know, home to home.
00:19:40.390 -->
00:19:43.757You know, mom was married so many different times and you got all these different
00:19:43.757 -->
00:19:48.087dads or stepdods coming in your life and nobody stayed.
00:19:48.087 -->
00:19:52.127You know, that can cause those things. And then maybe you came from a violent,
00:19:52.127 -->
00:19:55.767a violent childhood or violent, you know, thing.
00:19:55.767 -->
00:19:59.177But, I mean, that's one of those things where you have to pray and ask Holy
00:19:59.177 -->
00:20:04.317Spirit to reveal these things to you and to where that way you can start healing
00:20:04.317 -->
00:20:06.527those parts of you that are causing that.
00:20:06.527 -->
00:20:12.327Because we get caught up in that Stockholm Syndrome that causes us to self-sabotage,
00:20:12.327 -->
00:20:14.008where we're comfortable in chaos.
00:20:14.594 -->
00:20:19.598Yeah. And— I mean, honestly, a lot of these problems are very common.
00:20:20.114 -->
00:20:23.267We don't even think of it as a problem. Like how many people,
00:20:23.267 -->
00:20:28.007you know, if their parents got divorced or, well, you know, dad used to drink
00:20:28.007 -->
00:20:30.597and he did us. Yeah. Everybody's dad does that. Yeah.
00:20:31.277 -->
00:20:36.107Yeah. I mean, because it's so rampant those days that we think that that's just normal life.
00:20:36.107 -->
00:20:39.647You know, we can get married and, you know, if it doesn't work out,
00:20:39.647 -->
00:20:44.247then we'll get divorced and, you know, then we can get married again and then we'll get divorced.
00:20:44.247 -->
00:20:49.313And, you know, and then you end up with all this generational curse,
00:20:49.911 -->
00:20:55.457all these generational curses. And what happened was I was talking to someone
00:20:55.457 -->
00:20:58.196before, and we were talking about, like, timeline, right?
00:20:59.029 -->
00:21:03.278Because people always say, well, hey, man, Satan, he plays the long game.
00:21:03.766 -->
00:21:07.284For him, it's not a long game, dude. For him, it's not a long game.
00:21:07.591 -->
00:21:15.473For him, it's like three generations to him is probably, hey,
00:21:15.473 -->
00:21:19.923I'll see you next week when you get back from your trip going cross-country.
00:21:20.123 -->
00:21:21.390He got kicked out of heaven.
00:21:22.220 -->
00:21:28.147Yeah. Who even knows? Right. It's been over 10,000 years. Right. Yeah.
00:21:28.603 -->
00:21:33.223Yeah. So, I mean, like for what us, for what would be a long game to us and
00:21:33.223 -->
00:21:37.731him is like, you know, a week long vacation or three weeks or whatever.
00:21:38.230 -->
00:21:44.140And, you know, he's setting this up because you'd from the time you're born to the time you die.
00:21:44.779 -->
00:21:50.513There are there are spirits that are assigned to watch over your family and
00:21:50.513 -->
00:21:53.583not watch over them in a good way. I mean, I'm talking like taking notes. Right.
00:21:53.963 -->
00:21:56.583So they were there. They were there at your grandfather's birth.
00:21:56.583 -->
00:22:00.043They were there at your great uncle's birth, you know, your great,
00:22:00.043 -->
00:22:03.703great grandfather. They were there and they were watching this whole time and
00:22:03.703 -->
00:22:05.579they're putting pieces together.
00:22:06.061 -->
00:22:09.358And they're like, hey, this thing, they caused something that happened here.
00:22:09.805 -->
00:22:13.793You know, this relative struggled because, you know, you hear people talk about,
00:22:13.793 -->
00:22:17.828well, alcoholism runs in my family or addiction runs in my family or whatever else.
00:22:18.569 -->
00:22:22.393Yeah, it does. A hundred percent. But there's a reason that it does,
00:22:22.393 -->
00:22:27.403because somewhere along the way, that spirit, that demon was invited in.
00:22:28.368 -->
00:22:33.575And it could be a fallen angel that is assigned over that family.
00:22:34.262 -->
00:22:39.201And it causes, you know, maybe it doesn't grab hold of everyone in the family.
00:22:39.636 -->
00:22:42.833But you know what I think happens most of the time?
00:22:43.526 -->
00:22:49.343And I can't say what I think happens, but I've done some reading and some studying
00:22:49.343 -->
00:22:55.425on stuff like this. And like, really, it goes after the people who would have the biggest impact.
00:22:56.189 -->
00:22:59.849For God, you know, so it's going to flick to the people. It's trying to keep
00:22:59.849 -->
00:23:03.249those people down who would be the most powerful, right?
00:23:03.249 -->
00:23:07.329Because what is, what is, if you look at everybody that God has used throughout
00:23:07.329 -->
00:23:12.088the Bible, it wasn't always the biggest or the strongest or the fastest.
00:23:12.745 -->
00:23:14.649Very rarely. Yeah.
00:23:15.349 -->
00:23:18.939And like, and, and, and, and when, when those guys that, that,
00:23:18.939 -->
00:23:22.889that he used ended up moving, they ended up moving big, but it was the ones
00:23:22.889 -->
00:23:25.949that society deemed as, eh, they're not enough.
00:23:25.949 -->
00:23:30.289You know they're not good enough for this whatever you know the people that
00:23:30.289 -->
00:23:35.199would be looked at as me right and those are the ones that he ended up using
00:23:35.199 -->
00:23:38.600to do the biggest things you know and,
00:23:39.581 -->
00:23:45.799I mean, Fisherman, you know, he grabbed Fisherman. Yeah, the tax guy.
00:23:46.135 -->
00:23:51.289The tax guy who society, you know, the rest of the society hated this guy,
00:23:51.289 -->
00:23:56.654right? You know, and they took him. They took the tax man, right? Matthew. Is that?
00:23:57.829 -->
00:24:04.618You know? Yeah. You know? And it's like, you know, they took him and were like, Eugenius took him.
00:24:04.972 -->
00:24:07.747It was like, hey, he's going to be with us. You know, he's coming up with us.
00:24:08.020 -->
00:24:13.442And, you know, I don't think the other apostles were like, what? What are you doing?
00:24:13.883 -->
00:24:15.989You know, but like, hey, all right, well, we're following you.
00:24:16.529 -->
00:24:19.939Hey, he's following you too. We're following you. I guess he's coming along
00:24:19.939 -->
00:24:21.249from the right, you know.
00:24:22.089 -->
00:24:26.899But, I mean, you got to think, like, even they were probably sitting there scratching
00:24:26.899 -->
00:24:31.650their heads going, like, what is he doing with this guy? Nobody's going to listen to him. Yeah.
00:24:32.729 -->
00:24:37.413Nobody's going to listen to him. Nobody likes him. We don't like him, you know.
00:24:38.469 -->
00:24:41.267He works for Rome. He's collecting taxes for Rome.
00:24:43.052 -->
00:24:48.589But here he is. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. So, you know, and he used him.
00:24:49.269 -->
00:24:53.039And that's what I'm saying is the enemy knows that. The enemy knows that.
00:24:53.039 -->
00:24:57.044And he's going to, they are going to attack. Like Satan's setting up people,
00:24:57.555 -->
00:25:00.489you know, or he's setting up, well, not people, but he's setting up spirits
00:25:00.489 -->
00:25:03.173around people that are going to have the biggest impact.
00:25:03.475 -->
00:25:09.565So if you're afflicted by a lot and you got a big hurdle to come through, there's a reason.
00:25:10.196 -->
00:25:13.563There's a reason. He's going to keep attacking you. He's going to try to keep you down.
00:25:14.545 -->
00:25:19.195The only way to get through that is growing your relationship with God to where
00:25:19.195 -->
00:25:23.035that can be revealed and it can be dealt with, be it through deliverance or,
00:25:23.035 -->
00:25:24.437I mean, he's going to deliver you.
00:25:24.750 -->
00:25:28.779But, I mean, if you have to go through a formal deliverance for that, maybe.
00:25:29.191 -->
00:25:33.905But honestly, I mean, grow your relationship with God and he's going to work
00:25:33.905 -->
00:25:37.345it out and set you up to put you in those places where you need to be as long
00:25:37.345 -->
00:25:42.553as you'll be obedient and listen and ask for his guidance and actually follow through on.
00:25:43.945 -->
00:25:47.255And that's where most of our hurdles come from. And you think about it,
00:25:47.255 -->
00:25:51.765like, we're sitting here and we're like, all right, I'm all in for God.
00:25:51.765 -->
00:25:56.465I'm all in for God for a day, maybe a week, a couple of weeks.
00:25:56.465 -->
00:26:00.518And then sure enough, you start pulling back. Oh, let me just want to see.
00:26:00.867 -->
00:26:03.945Let me keep up with the Kardashians for a little bit. You know,
00:26:03.945 -->
00:26:09.087let me flip over here and I'm going to watch this shoot-em-up movie,
00:26:09.499 -->
00:26:11.945you know, with all this sex and drugs and all this.
00:26:11.945 -->
00:26:15.725But in violence but i'm gonna watch that you know it's not holy i wouldn't do
00:26:15.725 -->
00:26:18.172anything like that but i want to watch it on tv,
00:26:18.724 -->
00:26:23.545you know or or you know let me let me put on some of the music that i used to
00:26:23.545 -->
00:26:28.441listen to because oh it takes me back to this place you know it makes me feel good
00:26:28.876 -->
00:26:32.275but but really it's taking me back to a place when i was jamming when i was
00:26:32.275 -->
00:26:36.755listening to tool and and and and all these metal bands and stuff like that
00:26:36.755 -->
00:26:38.098and all this unholy music.
00:26:38.755 -->
00:26:42.322I was doing unholy things in those times. But when I hear it on the radio,
00:26:42.322 -->
00:26:45.382you know, I used to say, oh, man, oh, dude, it takes me back to,
00:26:45.382 -->
00:26:47.167you know, a good time when I was feeling good.
00:26:47.318 -->
00:26:52.606But then I look back now and I'm like, I look back on those times when I was listening to that.
00:26:53.152 -->
00:26:56.350And I was in the worst spots of my life, Matt.
00:26:56.844 -->
00:27:01.929I was in the worst spot, the worst possible spots of my life.
00:27:02.562 -->
00:27:05.972You know, when I'm listening to that stuff that I thought when I hear it on
00:27:05.972 -->
00:27:07.269the radio, it makes me feel better.
00:27:07.769 -->
00:27:12.722But really how much of that like changes the way you think how much of its program
00:27:12.722 -->
00:27:17.642is called programming right you know how much of it programs you to feel a certain
00:27:17.642 -->
00:27:20.944way like if you're listening to nirvana,
00:27:21.592 -->
00:27:27.042the guy you know one you got a a band like you know like them that they one
00:27:27.042 -->
00:27:31.152took the country by storm the lead singer blows his brains up because he you
00:27:31.152 -->
00:27:36.332know he's high on heroin or he gets his brain's blown out by someone else because he's high on air.
00:27:36.332 -->
00:27:40.224However you want to look at that, you know, choose what you want to believe there.
00:27:40.886 -->
00:27:45.172But anyways, but that's the narrative, right? And he's not singing happy music.
00:27:45.172 -->
00:27:48.055He's not singing, you know, anything that's praising God.
00:27:48.769 -->
00:27:55.692He's singing down, depressed, sad, you know, sad, deep songs that.
00:27:56.702 -->
00:28:01.712That they're going to put you in that spot. Like they're going to put you in that.
00:28:02.333 -->
00:28:06.782If you're listening to sad and angry music, it's not going to take too long
00:28:06.782 -->
00:28:08.916before you're sad and angry all the time.
00:28:09.492 -->
00:28:13.403Like I said, I said this when I recorded an episode by myself last week.
00:28:13.850 -->
00:28:17.728Like if you're listening to music about drinking and cheating on your wife.
00:28:18.571 -->
00:28:22.061How long is it going to take for you to listen to that before you start lingering
00:28:22.061 -->
00:28:28.621a little bit longer at some lady that walks by, you know, or you start having
00:28:28.621 -->
00:28:30.818these feelings of lust or whatever else?
00:28:31.318 -->
00:28:35.184Well, if it doesn't, even if you don't think it's affecting you,
00:28:35.834 -->
00:28:40.251how does it affect your wife when she hears you listening to music like that?
00:28:40.879 -->
00:28:46.023Yeah. or for wives how does it affect your husband when you hear them,
00:28:46.671 -->
00:28:51.721or when you when you they hear you listening to music that that that is talking
00:28:51.721 -->
00:28:56.791about you know divorce and breaking up and sleeping with all these different guys or or or,
00:28:57.591 -->
00:29:02.471or whatever you know men ain't men men ain't crap and and i'm a boss lady and
00:29:02.471 -->
00:29:06.521i don't need no man type stuff or guys if you're listening to music where it's
00:29:06.551 -->
00:29:10.311talking about women ain't nothing but but trash you know,
00:29:10.851 -->
00:29:15.101and and and and you used them and abused them you know use them and leave them
00:29:15.101 -->
00:29:18.383thing tricks and hoes yeah right you know,
00:29:19.094 -->
00:29:22.681and so like i mean if you're listening to music that's like that and your wife
00:29:22.681 -->
00:29:27.061hears that what is that gonna make her how's that gonna make her feel how's
00:29:27.061 -->
00:29:29.176it gonna make her feel that you knew her,
00:29:29.853 -->
00:29:32.941you know what i mean because if you're you're listening to music that views
00:29:32.941 -->
00:29:37.057women in that way how is it gonna make your wife feel that you view women?
00:29:37.704 -->
00:29:40.415You know what I mean? Or how is it going to make her view herself?
00:29:41.411 -->
00:29:43.991When you're going to work, she's going to have to question, well,
00:29:43.991 -->
00:29:46.449what is he doing when he's out of work? When is she late?
00:29:47.552 -->
00:29:51.571So you got to look at one, you got to look at not just how the music that you
00:29:51.571 -->
00:29:55.391listen to makes you view the world, but how does it make those around you view the world?
00:29:55.731 -->
00:30:00.671And if your kids are singing those songs along with you, what are you doing?
00:30:00.671 -->
00:30:04.531Like, what are we doing? You know, and I'm guilty of it. I am guilty of it, dude.
00:30:04.611 -->
00:30:07.576Dude, my son has my taste in music.
00:30:08.496 -->
00:30:12.389You know, he has my taste in music and I have to tell him all the time, like, Kendall.
00:30:15.108 -->
00:30:18.502I can't be around you 24-7. When you're with me, we're not listening to that.
00:30:18.745 -->
00:30:22.459Because when I listened to it, I was wrong to listen to it and I was wrong to
00:30:22.459 -->
00:30:24.949ever introduce you into any of that.
00:30:24.949 -->
00:30:30.559Like, dude, Linkin Park, one of my favorite bands before, you know,
00:30:30.559 -->
00:30:33.864and it's one of Kendall's favorite bands now, unfortunately.
00:30:34.323 -->
00:30:37.417But the music is depressing. Most of it is depressing.
00:30:38.849 -->
00:30:41.899And the guy hung himself. You know what I mean? I was going to ask,
00:30:41.899 -->
00:30:46.909why are all your favorite old bands guys who killed themselves? Come on, man.
00:30:47.901 -->
00:30:52.765Also, I like Waylon Jennings or I liked Waylon Jennings and stuff like that too.
00:30:53.073 -->
00:30:56.909But that's another thing. He's got my taste in country music.
00:30:56.909 -->
00:30:59.813He doesn't really listen to mainstream artists.
00:31:00.109 -->
00:31:04.969He does. I mean, I guess they're mainstream, but it's not stuff that when he found it.
00:31:06.369 -->
00:31:10.879He's the guy But Kendall, this is going to sound terrible. Kendall is the person
00:31:10.879 -->
00:31:12.740that turned me on to Zach Bryan.
00:31:13.089 -->
00:31:15.003I didn't know who Zach Bryan was, you know.
00:31:15.445 -->
00:31:18.819I was listening to like Tyler Childers and stuff like that because I listen
00:31:18.819 -->
00:31:20.325to that kind of music. Kendall...
00:31:21.072 -->
00:31:25.977And his playlist set up, you would listen to it, too, because we were sharing the same Spotify.
00:31:26.523 -->
00:31:30.095And then he finds this guy's back, Brian. And I'm like, oh, dude,
00:31:30.095 -->
00:31:31.881he's got a wonderful voice.
00:31:32.467 -->
00:31:34.969Probably not the role model you want for your kid.
00:31:35.697 -->
00:31:39.655You know, probably not the guy that you want singing into your kid's headphones
00:31:39.655 -->
00:31:41.531every day. You know what I'm saying?
00:31:42.169 -->
00:31:45.775And now I'm at a point in my life where I'm having to reexamine that and I'm
00:31:45.775 -->
00:31:47.301having to go make corrections.
00:31:47.875 -->
00:31:56.575Where if hopefully people will hear this and get some message from God,
00:31:56.575 -->
00:31:59.595then it doesn't have to be, you don't have to make corrections if you don't
00:31:59.595 -->
00:32:01.335make the mistakes on that in the first place.
00:32:01.335 -->
00:32:04.455If you don't allow your kids to listen to that, they're going to listen to what
00:32:04.455 -->
00:32:08.267you listen to. So I keep my radio now on 94.5.
00:32:10.365 -->
00:32:14.661I'm only listening to Caleb, dude. I'm only listening to what's on the Christian station.
00:32:15.021 -->
00:32:19.515And honestly, some of that I have to be careful with because not just because
00:32:19.515 -->
00:32:22.103it's not a Christian station doesn't mean it's a worship song.
00:32:22.440 -->
00:32:26.695It doesn't mean it's a praise song. You don't know the person who's doing that
00:32:26.695 -->
00:32:30.050music. Well, one of the problems for the right reasons.
00:32:30.538 -->
00:32:37.432One of the problems I'm coming to now is like it a lot. A lot of songs are about me, me, me, me.
00:32:38.072 -->
00:32:42.685It's not about a lot of the songs are like, you know, what am I doing?
00:32:42.685 -->
00:32:46.315You know, like I'm doing this for the Lord and I'm doing that for the Lord.
00:32:46.588 -->
00:32:50.645And, you know, it's good to have songs that tell you, yeah, I still mess up,
00:32:50.645 -->
00:32:53.003you know, I still mess up, but God forgives me.
00:32:53.583 -->
00:32:56.602But you want to be careful with that to where you're not just like,
00:32:56.759 -->
00:32:59.957ah, it's okay to mess up because God's got to forgive me.
00:33:00.265 -->
00:33:04.131You know what I mean? You know, a lot of the stuff is about me and I,
00:33:04.578 -->
00:33:09.760and it's not about, it's not about Jesus. It's not about just how holy he is.
00:33:10.166 -->
00:33:13.865And those are the things that I'm like, oh, like those are the songs that really
00:33:13.865 -->
00:33:19.435usually get to me or the ones that are just talking about how holy he is and
00:33:19.435 -->
00:33:23.802glorifying him, right? And so, and I feel like.
00:33:25.380 -->
00:33:29.590Not a feel like, but that's what we're supposed to do. We're supposed to glorify
00:33:29.590 -->
00:33:31.575and praise him every day.
00:33:31.877 -->
00:33:35.960Do, am I perfect? In everything you do. In everything you do.
00:33:35.960 -->
00:33:40.763And am I, am I, am I perfect at that? Am I the spinning example of that? Absolutely not.
00:33:41.420 -->
00:33:44.500I'm telling you the more time that I'm spending with him, that's where my heart
00:33:44.500 -->
00:33:46.620is going. And that's where I'm trying to get to.
00:33:47.015 -->
00:33:51.102And that's, that's one of those things that like, I want to,
00:33:51.897 -->
00:33:56.940I want to just like, Like, I want to cut all the, I mean, I'm talking from Disney,
00:33:57.400 -->
00:34:00.270to Hulu. Like, I almost, I just, I'm at the point where, like,
00:34:00.270 -->
00:34:01.104I want to get rid of all that.
00:34:01.946 -->
00:34:05.678I don't watch a whole lot of televised sports. I don't spend a whole lot of time with that.
00:34:06.056 -->
00:34:09.660Dude, I'm telling you, most of the time I don't want to, I don't even want to,
00:34:10.260 -->
00:34:12.784like, I don't want to have anything to do with that at this point.
00:34:13.121 -->
00:34:15.660I'll go to my kid's football game or I'd like to go, you know,
00:34:16.420 -->
00:34:20.557watch the Rangers play or something. I like to take my family and go see the Dallas Stars.
00:34:20.887 -->
00:34:24.124But like quite frankly i don't want to sit there,
00:34:24.784 -->
00:34:29.580on tv and have that on not just because of what's going on in the game but also
00:34:29.580 -->
00:34:32.860because i mean you got these ads that come through you can't do the commercials
00:34:32.860 -->
00:34:35.193that come on the music that's played
00:34:35.628 -->
00:34:40.609like dude i'm telling you when like a lot of times when secular music gets played now,
00:34:41.223 -->
00:34:46.000it makes me feel bad in my spirit like it makes me like i i I almost get to
00:34:46.000 -->
00:34:49.540a point where, like, I don't want, I don't, whatever is in that.
00:34:50.760 -->
00:34:52.877Is conflicting with what's in me.
00:34:53.168 -->
00:34:55.449And I don't want that. I don't want it around.
00:34:56.104 -->
00:34:58.960And I'm at a point now where I'm just like, if I'm in the car,
00:34:58.960 -->
00:35:03.160please don't play that stuff. Like, it's to where I'm getting to because it
00:35:03.160 -->
00:35:05.704makes me feel uneasy in my spirit, you know?
00:35:06.735 -->
00:35:12.090I've just started, all I listen to now is, this is probably extreme classical
00:35:12.090 -->
00:35:13.660music. There's just no words.
00:35:14.040 -->
00:35:16.284Dude, it's just... I've.
00:35:18.380 -->
00:35:21.390Been through that phase, and I'm telling you, I'm getting there again.
00:35:21.390 -->
00:35:23.674If I'm not listening to praise and worship...
00:35:24.655 -->
00:35:27.759I like to listen to classical stuff.
00:35:27.759 -->
00:35:30.749And it doesn't have to be a classical artist.
00:35:30.749 -->
00:35:35.809I mean, it can be a classical composer, you know, and a newer artist or whatever.
00:35:35.809 -->
00:35:39.579But as long as it doesn't have the words and it's just like a bunch of big piano
00:35:39.579 -->
00:35:43.609and a bunch of, you know, the horns and all that, I'm down with that, dude.
00:35:44.309 -->
00:35:48.339Man, it really helps me read my Bible, honestly.
00:35:48.339 -->
00:35:51.659Yes, I will put it on. Because my mind will always be racing,
00:35:51.659 -->
00:35:55.159and I'm trying to understand every single piece that I read.
00:35:55.159 -->
00:35:59.929But when I listen to that, I'm like, all right, I can just focus on what the word is saying.
00:36:01.369 -->
00:36:05.639You have an iPhone. Apple Music has a whole other app that's just an Apple.
00:36:05.639 -->
00:36:09.294It's Apple Music Classical app. I don't know what it's called. I got it on my phone.
00:36:10.529 -->
00:36:16.579I'm going to Spotify right now. Yeah. So if you download Apple Music,
00:36:16.579 -->
00:36:19.459they have a whole app that's just classical stuff.
00:36:19.459 -->
00:36:22.472So you can put it on there and there's, I mean, dude, it's, I mean,
00:36:22.820 -->
00:36:28.167thousands upon thousands of, you know, and I actually found on there,
00:36:28.883 -->
00:36:34.459there's like, you know, there's, there's, there's Russian Orthodox Church and stuff like that too.
00:36:34.459 -->
00:36:37.335Like, I don't know anything about them. So don't get me.
00:36:37.538 -->
00:36:42.002Don't, don't, don't hit me with the theology because I don't know anything about them.
00:36:42.217 -->
00:36:45.999But I know that the music is just, it's classical sounding music.
00:36:45.999 -->
00:36:50.899You know what I mean? And it's all like, like, like hymns, you know,
00:36:50.899 -->
00:36:53.679it's like, I don't know. I don't guess it would be hymns because there's no
00:36:53.679 -->
00:36:54.899words, but you know what I mean?
00:36:54.899 -->
00:36:58.533You know, it's supposed to be praise and worship church music, you know?
00:36:58.911 -->
00:37:01.279And so like, you can feel on there and find stuff. And like,
00:37:01.402 -->
00:37:04.079like I said, I don't know anything about Russian Orthodox church guys.
00:37:04.079 -->
00:37:09.279So don't, I don't know if that is attached to Roman Catholic or whatever. I have no idea.
00:37:09.731 -->
00:37:13.829And quite frankly, it doesn't affect, it's not hitting my spirit to where it
00:37:13.829 -->
00:37:18.169makes me feel any negative type of way. And that's what I'm trying to get away
00:37:18.169 -->
00:37:21.639from us, too. That's what I'm trying to say is this other music is making me
00:37:21.639 -->
00:37:24.434feel a negative type of way. It's making me feel...
00:37:25.195 -->
00:37:28.699It's making me feel uncomfortable in my spirit, and I don't like it.
00:37:28.699 -->
00:37:33.289It conflicts with the Holy Spirit that's in me, and I don't want any part of it. I don't want.
00:37:36.515 -->
00:37:41.757To hear songs that glorify sex and partying and stuff like that.
00:37:42.047 -->
00:37:46.049I want to hear songs that glorify divorce and breaking up and all that stuff.
00:37:46.049 -->
00:37:47.295I don't want to hear that.
00:37:47.905 -->
00:37:51.835And if you're listening to something that isn't praising Jesus,
00:37:52.287 -->
00:37:54.567I promise you it's praising something.
00:37:55.194 -->
00:38:00.279So you need to really, Holy Spirit, what is this praising? If it's not praising
00:38:00.279 -->
00:38:01.336you, what's it praising?
00:38:01.929 -->
00:38:05.609And he'll tell you. He'll reveal it to you. But you'd have to ask for it to
00:38:05.609 -->
00:38:09.694be revealed. And the problem that we come into is a lot of us don't want to know.
00:38:10.461 -->
00:38:14.909Yeah, we would rather be ignorant to it. Well, I haven't felt convicted about
00:38:14.909 -->
00:38:18.501this. Well, have you asked about it? No, I'm not going to either.
00:38:19.453 -->
00:38:23.749And I think a lot of us, we hear it and we choose to ignore.
00:38:23.749 -->
00:38:28.549Well, a lot of that tells me when somebody told me the other day and he was
00:38:28.549 -->
00:38:31.638like, well, he's like, I haven't been convicted of it. And I'm like,
00:38:32.090 -->
00:38:34.581well, have you asked about it? No, I'm not going to either.
00:38:34.819 -->
00:38:36.845That gave me the answer right there.
00:38:37.349 -->
00:38:39.489That means you are convicted about it, really.
00:38:40.389 -->
00:38:44.089It means that you know you would be if you asked, you know.
00:38:44.669 -->
00:38:47.169Yeah. And I pretty much told him that. I was like, well, that's because you
00:38:47.169 -->
00:38:51.399know you would be convicted if you asked about it. The late obedience is still
00:38:51.399 -->
00:38:54.799disobedient. I'm not going to say any names. I don't want to throw anybody out
00:38:54.799 -->
00:38:56.612there under the bus and tell them business.
00:38:56.792 -->
00:39:02.339But like that, that, that tells me, you know, that tells me that,
00:39:02.339 -->
00:39:06.881that, that you're not asking because you know that you would be convicted, that God would.
00:39:07.905 -->
00:39:11.016If God can I do this, you know, like me and my wife had this conversation the
00:39:11.016 -->
00:39:14.386other night and I was like, you know what, like we, we prayed about,
00:39:14.386 -->
00:39:16.956you know, getting this house and stuff like that. And we were talking about
00:39:16.956 -->
00:39:21.135something. I was like, you know, pray and ask God what he wants you to do.
00:39:21.828 -->
00:39:24.536And, and, you know, I'll pray on it too or whatever with you,
00:39:24.536 -->
00:39:27.446but like pray and ask what he wants you to do. And, and, and then,
00:39:27.446 -->
00:39:29.176you know, God tells you to do it.
00:39:29.736 -->
00:39:32.260I fully support it, you know, like, I mean.
00:39:33.602 -->
00:39:36.655Promise me you'll pray about it, you know, when you ask what He wants.
00:39:36.934 -->
00:39:40.257Because that's what I want us to do in every aspect of our life,
00:39:40.257 -->
00:39:41.988no matter how big, no matter how small.
00:39:42.360 -->
00:39:44.777Even if it's like, hey, God, you know.
00:39:47.357 -->
00:39:50.017Do you want us to go out to dinner tonight? Or do you want us to eat in the
00:39:50.017 -->
00:39:56.789house? Like, I'm talking that level of commitment and devotion where that's what I want us to be.
00:39:57.195 -->
00:40:00.487That's where I want us to be on that relationship with God. When we're asking
00:40:00.487 -->
00:40:04.092him, what does he want us to do with everything,
00:40:05.577 -->
00:40:11.947every dollar, every moment, every step that we take, every direction we take,
00:40:11.947 -->
00:40:16.585I want it to be, God, what do you want us to do here? Do you want us to turn left or right?
00:40:17.279 -->
00:40:20.802Do you want us to go home this way or do you want us to go home that way?
00:40:21.797 -->
00:40:27.707What do you want us to do? and and and I think that should be goals not just
00:40:27.707 -->
00:40:31.669for couples but for everyone like I mean Matthew that should be a goal for you,
00:40:32.123 -->
00:40:35.567is God what do you want me to do here and I feel like with the conversations
00:40:35.567 -->
00:40:39.157we've been having lately that's what you're doing you know even when you don't
00:40:39.157 -->
00:40:40.742understand it you're like,
00:40:41.450 -->
00:40:45.767okay you know I don't understand this but I'm gonna do it you know and like
00:40:45.767 -->
00:40:50.877I'd say no it's been crazy but I'm just like if if I think it's you and I don't
00:40:50.877 -->
00:40:53.934do it then that That is me saying, you're not my Lord.
00:40:54.270 -->
00:40:59.537Yeah. Well, I had to, I told my wife, you know, when we were praying about getting
00:40:59.537 -->
00:41:02.467this house and we were like, you know, God, if this is you, show up.
00:41:02.972 -->
00:41:06.269And she had told me like, you know, like she prayed and he said,
00:41:06.554 -->
00:41:09.979I'm not going to, I'm not just going to give this to you. You're going to get it.
00:41:10.623 -->
00:41:14.309And I'm going to make a way for you to have it, but I'm not just going to give it to you.
00:41:15.247 -->
00:41:18.714I want you to put in work and earn it and, and, and have faith.
00:41:19.247 -->
00:41:22.071And dude, it got to a point there for a second. Like we were getting down to
00:41:22.071 -->
00:41:25.481the wire and I'm like, Allison, I just don't, I'm trying to have faith and I'm,
00:41:25.481 -->
00:41:29.671I'm trusting God in this, but like, I don't, I just don't see a way.
00:41:29.671 -->
00:41:32.826I don't understand how it's going to be possible. And she told me like,
00:41:33.203 -->
00:41:37.714honestly, point blank, like you don't have to understand it. Just trust.
00:41:38.103 -->
00:41:42.881And I was like, okay, like just trust that he's going to provide what needs
00:41:42.881 -->
00:41:45.702to be provided. He's going to do what needs to be done.
00:41:46.220 -->
00:41:50.201And I was like, I, and I said this at church the other day when you were there,
00:41:50.201 -->
00:41:54.931but like, I pray that everyone has a spouse like that or has somebody in their
00:41:54.931 -->
00:41:58.381life like that, that will remind them of that.
00:41:58.381 -->
00:42:02.061And I want, you know, and, and I think me and her do that for each other pretty
00:42:02.061 -->
00:42:04.729regularly, which is great. But yeah.
00:42:05.953 -->
00:42:10.413I want everybody to have that. That's what it should be. That's what a marriage
00:42:10.413 -->
00:42:13.804should be. That's what a friendship should be when you're walking with the Lord.
00:42:14.262 -->
00:42:16.973It's like you pick your brother up or you pick your wife up.
00:42:17.670 -->
00:42:20.305And if they're doubting, you say, hey, you don't have to understand it.
00:42:20.758 -->
00:42:24.780But you need to trust and keep moving. Trust and keep moving, right?
00:42:25.653 -->
00:42:29.300And keep walking with him. Keep building that relationship with him.
00:42:29.665 -->
00:42:34.472And he's going to provide a way. He might not tell you how he's going to do it, but he'll show you.
00:42:34.809 -->
00:42:38.663You know what I mean? He'll show you. And that's, that's where we need to be at.
00:42:38.663 -->
00:42:42.553And, and that goes to like the conversation that we had yesterday where you
00:42:42.553 -->
00:42:46.643were telling me, you texted me and you said, you said, you know,
00:42:46.643 -->
00:42:51.026if I, if I, if I truly give myself to God and his,
00:42:51.692 -->
00:42:53.932then my problems are his problems.
00:42:54.228 -->
00:42:57.933And and so basically i have no problems right like i have no,
00:42:58.473 -->
00:43:03.064i have no worry i have no doubt because like my problems are his problems they're
00:43:03.360 -->
00:43:07.863they're for him they're not problems you know so i mean yeah everything around
00:43:07.863 -->
00:43:11.793me is his so right technically me losing this house he's,
00:43:12.601 -->
00:43:17.153it wasn't my house it wasn't your house anyways it was it was his that he let
00:43:17.153 -->
00:43:21.343you use for a time and then he can put you you know where he needs you and put
00:43:21.343 -->
00:43:24.188you where he wants you And, and you know what?
00:43:24.997 -->
00:43:28.997Awesome. Because then what you do then is you alleviate stress.
00:43:29.426 -->
00:43:32.533Like, you know, now make sure you're being diligent and you're doing what he
00:43:32.533 -->
00:43:37.337says. If he says, this is what you need to do. I'm going to put you in this place and you go do this.
00:43:37.447 -->
00:43:40.853That's because he's providing a way for something. He's going to use you for
00:43:40.853 -->
00:43:44.143something and he's got something for you, you know, and, and,
00:43:44.143 -->
00:43:48.163and do that, you know, and, and instead we turn our prayers into,
00:43:48.634 -->
00:43:52.403oh, Jesus, if you'll just, please give me this and please give me that.
00:43:52.403 -->
00:43:56.819Like, He knows your needs. That's what Jesus was talking about when He says,
00:43:57.475 -->
00:44:00.743He knows your needs. You don't need to pray for food or pray for clothing or
00:44:00.743 -->
00:44:02.403pray for shelter or whatever.
00:44:03.616 -->
00:44:09.982What you need to pray for is our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
00:44:09.982 -->
00:44:12.782thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
00:44:12.782 -->
00:44:16.652Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses and we forgive
00:44:16.652 -->
00:44:20.194those who trespass against us. You know, don't.
00:44:21.042 -->
00:44:26.481That's how he wants us to pray. There's a reason for that because he knows what we need.
00:44:26.945 -->
00:44:30.742He already knows what we need. And it's okay if you're praying with three or
00:44:30.742 -->
00:44:35.132four people to stand around and come in agreement with something. And to cast things out.
00:44:37.372 -->
00:44:40.127And to pray for something to happen, pray for things to move.
00:44:40.789 -->
00:44:43.652But if you're sitting around praying like, God, you'll give me enough money
00:44:43.652 -->
00:44:47.366that I can eat today that I can feed for family. Like that's, listen.
00:44:49.115 -->
00:44:53.162That's not faith. That's not faith, man. You know, like, you know,
00:44:53.162 -->
00:44:56.292like, oh, man, I pray, you know, but I don't know.
00:44:57.132 -->
00:44:59.238See, now I feel hesitant to say that.
00:45:00.149 -->
00:45:04.555You know, I mean, I guess it's not necessarily a need, but I really like if
00:45:04.555 -->
00:45:08.125the Lord has already said he's going to do it for you, then you don't need to
00:45:08.125 -->
00:45:10.375keep hammering him about it.
00:45:10.375 -->
00:45:14.165Because I did that with I really want a wife. And then he told me,
00:45:14.165 -->
00:45:18.675I'm going to give you a wife. And then I keep praying over it every day.
00:45:18.675 -->
00:45:23.298And then that becomes your main focus. You're not even focusing on God anymore.
00:45:25.515 -->
00:45:29.438And that becomes an idol. Yes. Yeah.
00:45:30.375 -->
00:45:33.255Then all of a sudden you're like god why are you not giving me this wife you're
00:45:33.255 -->
00:45:38.713like i can't you're not even focusing on me how can i give you hurt you know right yeah,
00:45:39.392 -->
00:45:43.845no 100 yeah and then that's real that's one thing you got to be real careful
00:45:43.845 -->
00:45:47.444about not just deal with him and admit i'm guilty of that you know,
00:45:48.279 -->
00:45:53.701and that's not fair to her but to make your wife your idol and especially i mean you know,
00:45:54.448 -->
00:45:58.745you're doing it you know you were doing it from a standpoint of of wanting a
00:45:58.745 -->
00:46:03.005wife You know, so it's not like you are putting any pressure on any actual person
00:46:03.005 -->
00:46:04.245or whatever necessarily.
00:46:04.245 -->
00:46:06.122But like, if you do that in a relationship, you know.
00:46:10.355 -->
00:46:15.625Where you start putting your wife as an idol and that's not fair to her.
00:46:15.625 -->
00:46:20.905It's a lot of unfair pressure to put on someone because they feel like they
00:46:20.905 -->
00:46:23.945have to be 100 all the time.
00:46:23.945 -->
00:46:28.745Right there and you know and i've even had to repent to my wife for those for
00:46:28.745 -->
00:46:33.215doing specifically that to her like i realized that i've made you this and then
00:46:33.215 -->
00:46:38.583that's not fair you know one it's not right it's not honoring to god you know he wants me to put you,
00:46:39.185 -->
00:46:44.425as number number one above everyone else but him but he doesn't want me to put
00:46:44.425 -->
00:46:48.155you above him and that's what i had done you know and also,
00:46:48.715 -->
00:46:53.105she has to be number two and then he just won't but basically he wants me to
00:46:53.105 -->
00:46:55.574or perform itself, you know.
00:46:56.480 -->
00:47:01.651But second to him, you know, and then and then I had to repent for that,
00:47:01.651 -->
00:47:04.488like, you know, because I knew that I wasn't doing that.
00:47:04.697 -->
00:47:08.711And and you repent for it and try to do better. And then all of a sudden you
00:47:08.711 -->
00:47:12.661fall right back into that. And what it does is it puts an unfair pressure on
00:47:12.661 -->
00:47:16.941that person. So life, it can be your wife, it can be the kid, it can be whoever.
00:47:17.254 -->
00:47:22.321It puts an unfair pressure on them to have to perform at perfection at all times
00:47:22.321 -->
00:47:23.131because they realize that.
00:47:23.531 -->
00:47:26.791Yeah, you're expecting them to do what only God can do. Exactly.
00:47:26.791 -->
00:47:31.971You're expecting, because what you do is you end up expecting people or a person
00:47:31.971 -->
00:47:35.361or whatever it is that you're idolizing to bring you happiness,
00:47:35.361 -->
00:47:37.263to bring you joy, to bring you peace.
00:47:37.884 -->
00:47:42.261That's not what they're there for. You know, they can help with that and they
00:47:42.261 -->
00:47:45.347can assist. God will use them to assist in that way.
00:47:45.887 -->
00:47:50.521But if you're putting that pressure on them to do what God is there for he's
00:47:50.521 -->
00:47:54.536supposed to bring your joy he's supposed to be your peace he's supposed to be
00:47:54.925 -->
00:47:59.491you know your comfort and all these things and if you put these expectations
00:47:59.491 -->
00:48:01.398on people by idolizing them.
00:48:03.237 -->
00:48:09.157So, but putting that unfair pressure on them is like, you know,
00:48:09.657 -->
00:48:15.337it puts them to a point where they make or they may feel where they have to
00:48:15.337 -->
00:48:17.717be at perfection all the time. And that's just not right.
00:48:20.637 -->
00:48:23.631Honestly, it's not going to make you happy because then you're going to start,
00:48:24.119 -->
00:48:26.157feeling let down by fans.
00:48:26.397 -->
00:48:30.029You know, it means you put your faith. Basically, it's putting your faith in peeping, right?
00:48:30.319 -->
00:48:32.937If you're putting your faith, if you're not idolizing a person,
00:48:32.937 -->
00:48:34.247you're putting your faith in people.
00:48:34.718 -->
00:48:38.833And then every little thing that they do that doesn't meet that standard,
00:48:39.240 -->
00:48:43.427they've got to upset you or hurt you or make you angry or not bring you the
00:48:43.427 -->
00:48:44.981joy, not bring you the peace.
00:48:45.323 -->
00:48:48.477That's where anxiety is going to come into play. And you're going to get anxious.
00:48:48.477 -->
00:48:50.565You're going to start feeling this away or that away.
00:48:51.012 -->
00:48:54.771And then when you're doing that, they're picking up on those subtle cues.
00:48:55.417 -->
00:48:58.337They might start out as subtle, but they're not going to stay subtle.
00:48:58.337 -->
00:49:02.967And they're going to start feeling like that burden and getting heavy of having
00:49:02.967 -->
00:49:08.017to, oh my gosh, I've got to be right. I'm not good enough for this.
00:49:08.232 -->
00:49:10.707Because they're not. They're not going to be able to meet that standard.
00:49:10.707 -->
00:49:13.617They can't meet that standard. That's going to start driving.
00:49:14.077 -->
00:49:17.307You could start driving a wedge between you, but we could also start causing
00:49:17.307 -->
00:49:22.837them to feel doubting in their selves and affect their spirit.
00:49:22.837 -->
00:49:24.061And we don't want to do that either.
00:49:24.659 -->
00:49:28.897And in your situation where you were talking about like you started praying
00:49:28.897 -->
00:49:32.687constantly that I'm going to pray over and over again for this wife when he
00:49:32.687 -->
00:49:34.661already told you an answer I'm going.
00:49:35.417 -->
00:49:38.847Matthew I'm preparing a wife for you and I'm going to and you're going to have
00:49:38.847 -->
00:49:40.024her I'm going to give her to you,
00:49:40.692 -->
00:49:44.692but it's going to be in his time not in your time because he's preparing her
00:49:45.052 -->
00:49:51.247for you he's preparing I pray for him to prepare me because I don't want to
00:49:51.247 -->
00:49:53.191go through divorce right,
00:49:53.866 -->
00:49:58.197But I still, I wanted to prepare me, but on my timeline. Yeah,
00:49:58.197 -->
00:49:59.867yeah. Hey, prepare me right now.
00:50:00.207 -->
00:50:02.910Like, prepare me yesterday and have it ready, you know?
00:50:03.334 -->
00:50:09.719Yeah, I'm afraid, like, four months in a row, dude. Why have you not done it? Yeah, yeah. And so you.
00:50:10.346 -->
00:50:13.667Yeah, and that's the thing, too, is like, and then we do that.
00:50:13.667 -->
00:50:16.647We're like, hey, I'm trusting God with this. I'm going to pray about it.
00:50:16.647 -->
00:50:17.579I'm going to trust him with it.
00:50:17.902 -->
00:50:21.763So pray about it, give it to him, and let him work on it.
00:50:22.273 -->
00:50:25.723You know, if that's the way you're going to do it. But if you're constantly praying
00:50:26.099 -->
00:50:29.247over and over, and we do that with money, we do that with financing,
00:50:29.247 -->
00:50:33.757you know, bills, you know, whatever it is, if you're constantly praying on something
00:50:33.757 -->
00:50:37.007over and over and over and over again for the same thing, God,
00:50:37.007 -->
00:50:38.435I'm not seeing it, give it to me.
00:50:38.912 -->
00:50:42.917It's like, yeah, he knows you want it, man. But is that really faith?
00:50:43.713 -->
00:50:48.604Because I don't think you can't handle it right now. But that brings me to the
00:50:48.604 -->
00:50:52.344question, is that really faith? If you're constantly praying about it over and
00:50:52.344 -->
00:50:54.632over and over again, I don't know that that's really faith.
00:50:54.957 -->
00:50:57.436I think you're like, well, maybe he didn't hear me the first time.
00:50:57.708 -->
00:51:01.314Maybe I wasn't loud enough. Maybe I didn't pray in the right way.
00:51:01.628 -->
00:51:05.404Maybe I got to ask him this or ask him that. You know, maybe if I do it this
00:51:05.404 -->
00:51:07.932way, if I just ask him one more time, he'll give it to me.
00:51:08.570 -->
00:51:11.711I don't think that's faith. And then you're also, you're turning him transactional.
00:51:12.216 -->
00:51:13.789You're turning him transactional,
00:51:14.664 -->
00:51:16.194you're my God when you give me
00:51:16.194 -->
00:51:22.624what I want right yes you know do this and I'll glorify you what is that,
00:51:23.406 -->
00:51:27.464hey do this if it glorifies you how about that you know if it's going to bring
00:51:27.464 -->
00:51:31.324glory to you do this if not then I can do without it and that's where we're
00:51:31.324 -->
00:51:32.604supposed to be even if I'm a Christian.
00:51:33.664 -->
00:51:38.894Even if you don't do this I will be here yeah even if you don't God I'd love
00:51:38.894 -->
00:51:42.814for this to happen but even if you don't do it here I am and I'm still doing,
00:51:42.814 -->
00:51:45.383you know, I'm still going to come in and I'm going to glorify your name.
00:51:45.970 -->
00:51:50.324But if this will glorify you, you know, I don't even know.
00:51:50.324 -->
00:51:54.214I don't even know that. I'll say now that I say that, I don't even know that
00:51:54.214 -->
00:51:55.494we should pray for that at all.
00:51:55.494 -->
00:51:59.800Honestly, Matthew, like, honestly, like, hey, Todd, you know,
00:52:00.434 -->
00:52:03.835you know, can you do this? But even if you don't, you know, like,
00:52:04.143 -->
00:52:07.764how about this, this, like, if you're, you know, if this be your will,
00:52:08.204 -->
00:52:09.263let it happen or whatever.
00:52:09.710 -->
00:52:14.934But like, maybe we don't pray about it Maybe not pray about it in that way You
00:52:14.934 -->
00:52:17.784know, like, hey God Is this what I'm supposed to do?
00:52:18.164 -->
00:52:21.270Is this what you want from me? You know.
00:52:22.872 -->
00:52:27.783Ask permission, you know, hey, God, is this what you do? Do you want me to have
00:52:27.783 -->
00:52:31.115this? Because if you do, okay, prepare me for it.
00:52:31.585 -->
00:52:36.374But like, hey, God, give us this house. Give us this. Give us that.
00:52:36.839 -->
00:52:39.381Maybe we don't pray in that way. You know what I mean?
00:52:39.944 -->
00:52:43.143Because honestly, I was thinking about it like when I prayed about this house
00:52:43.143 -->
00:52:49.563that we got, it was like, hey, God, if this is of you, the only thing that I'm
00:52:49.563 -->
00:52:51.069asking is make it undeniable.
00:52:51.540 -->
00:52:56.273Because I don't want to use God as an ATM.
00:52:56.353 -->
00:53:01.221I don't want to use him as a genie with three missions. You know what I mean?
00:53:03.085 -->
00:53:06.953And maybe I'm contradicting myself by saying that, but maybe we're not supposed
00:53:06.953 -->
00:53:11.563to, because if you do that and you're praying, you're praying for the things
00:53:11.563 -->
00:53:15.576you need, you're doing exactly what he said not to do.
00:53:16.767 -->
00:53:20.399Right? I mean, is that not true? I don't know, but it also says,
00:53:20.399 -->
00:53:25.719ask for the things of your heart and they will be given to you. It does. That's true.
00:53:26.279 -->
00:53:28.239Okay. So that is true. It does say that.
00:53:29.353 -->
00:53:34.352I think you should be praying in confidence. Mm-hmm.
00:53:35.466 -->
00:53:36.639Because if the Lord put it on
00:53:36.639 -->
00:53:40.278your heart and he has already said it will happen, it will happen. Yeah.
00:53:40.865 -->
00:53:45.199But we get to the point where we are so like, we want it so bad that we're not
00:53:45.199 -->
00:53:49.389even worried about connecting with him anymore. We're worried about when he's
00:53:49.389 -->
00:53:50.704going to give us what we want.
00:53:50.913 -->
00:53:54.774That, that that's where come the problem, you know? Yeah.
00:53:55.627 -->
00:53:58.249And that's, yeah. I mean, that's a good point. You know, that,
00:53:58.249 -->
00:54:02.609that is true too, because it does say that, you know, ask for the things in
00:54:02.609 -->
00:54:04.641your heart. It will, it'll be given to you.
00:54:05.175 -->
00:54:11.031Yeah. I was reading, uh, the story of the guy. He's, it's a parable that Jesus told,
00:54:11.839 -->
00:54:16.859it's like the middle of the night and this guy needs bread for his guests that
00:54:16.859 -->
00:54:21.218just showed up and he starts knocking on the door in the middle of the night
00:54:21.648 -->
00:54:23.639the guy in the house goes go away,
00:54:24.539 -->
00:54:29.399we're already locked the door and we're already in bed but he says if he continues
00:54:29.399 -->
00:54:35.922to ask surely he will give him the bread so he will go away because of his persistence exactly.
00:54:36.868 -->
00:54:40.177Yeah, man, that's, that's, yeah, that's, that's important.
00:54:40.897 -->
00:54:44.089But I mean. So I think there's a side of it in life.
00:54:44.356 -->
00:54:48.101But don't, don't let it become an idol, you know, and don't,
00:54:48.101 -->
00:54:52.060don't, don't let it become the thing that is more important than God.
00:54:52.599 -->
00:54:58.501You know, like that, I think that's really the, the, the, the point to take
00:54:58.501 -->
00:55:03.900away from it is you don't want to sit here and, and make that thing that you're praying for your idol.
00:55:04.207 -->
00:55:07.571Because if you're sitting here and you're praying for money to be rich and you're
00:55:07.571 -->
00:55:10.821praying, let me win the lottery, let me win the lottery, let me win the lottery,
00:55:10.821 -->
00:55:14.361you're bombarding him with that, that's becoming an idol.
00:55:14.361 -->
00:55:19.321That's becoming where, hey, God, if you do this, I'll glorify you.
00:55:19.321 -->
00:55:25.133Like, you're trying to bribe the Lord. You know what I mean?
00:55:27.481 -->
00:55:30.973You're trying to bribe God, and that's not a good thing, you know?
00:55:31.246 -->
00:55:33.101So we just got to be careful and be conscious.
00:55:35.884 -->
00:55:40.841Honestly, that's probably something that we should pray. That's something we
00:55:40.841 -->
00:55:44.641should pray about God. Like, have I done that? Have I done, you know,
00:55:44.641 -->
00:55:46.518revealed those times when I've done that?
00:55:47.421 -->
00:55:51.141Or is it a problem? Is it a problem for you? Like, I think I'm going to pray
00:55:51.141 -->
00:55:55.649on that too. Like, is it a problem for you if I ask for something more than once?
00:55:56.095 -->
00:56:01.111You know? Because honestly, I think it becomes the heart behind it,
00:56:01.111 -->
00:56:06.198you know? but at the same time, like, I don't know, man, I'm a little bit, I'm a little bit...
00:56:07.856 -->
00:56:10.967It's not a good question. It's a good question. You know, it brings the,
00:56:11.847 -->
00:56:17.800it begs the question, like, when is it, when, when is it, when is it not a good thing? Right.
00:56:18.137 -->
00:56:22.027Because you're supposed to pray for people too. And I'm praying,
00:56:22.027 -->
00:56:25.837I know my mom, she prayed for me every day. Yeah. I don't think the Lord would
00:56:25.837 -->
00:56:27.657see that as a problem, obviously. No.
00:56:28.507 -->
00:56:31.487And I think, you know, but you got to pray in confidence. That,
00:56:31.487 -->
00:56:34.207that, that was a big key thing you said, praying in confidence.
00:56:34.227 -->
00:56:37.997It's like, God, I'm praying because I know you're going to, you know,
00:56:37.997 -->
00:56:40.947I know you're going to use Matthew and I know you're going to make him a mighty
00:56:40.947 -->
00:56:43.524warrior for you and you're going to make him a preacher.
00:56:43.820 -->
00:56:46.917And your mom's praying like just if you'll just get him through this,
00:56:46.917 -->
00:56:48.327I know what your plans are.
00:56:48.947 -->
00:56:51.483I know that you have plans for him. I don't know what they are,
00:56:51.738 -->
00:56:55.487but I know that you have plans for him and that you're going to do great things
00:56:55.487 -->
00:56:59.767for him. I think that's a good thing to pray and to make it a constant prayer, you know.
00:57:00.711 -->
00:57:01.918But it also. Yeah.
00:57:02.633 -->
00:57:06.255You know, to an extent is selfless. Like, she'd be like, well,
00:57:06.255 -->
00:57:08.118she's praying that because it's her son,
00:57:08.740 -->
00:57:12.575but also because, like, she doesn't want, because it is her son,
00:57:12.575 -->
00:57:16.176she doesn't want to see you go down the wrong road and end up,
00:57:16.321 -->
00:57:20.925you know, end up the wrong way away from God, too, and so she's praying for him,
00:57:21.702 -->
00:57:25.485to reach out, and that, I think, is okay, you know?
00:57:25.505 -->
00:57:28.141Yeah, the heart's in the right place. The heart's in the right place.
00:57:28.663 -->
00:57:32.295She's not, it's not transactional. She's not like, God, if you do this,
00:57:32.295 -->
00:57:36.030I'll glorify you. She's like, I'm going to glorify you either way,
00:57:36.303 -->
00:57:39.675but, but also please do this thing. You know what I mean? Like,
00:57:39.675 -->
00:57:41.266please keep him on the right track.
00:57:41.585 -->
00:57:44.354And I think that's a good, that's a good thing. It was like,
00:57:45.040 -->
00:57:48.784Lord, honestly, had he given me her when, at that time.
00:57:49.725 -->
00:57:52.885I'd probably been another couple of months before I even really hit my knees
00:57:52.885 -->
00:57:57.225and gave him really dedicated what I was doing to the Lord. Right.
00:57:57.225 -->
00:57:58.303Yeah. A hundred percent.
00:57:58.889 -->
00:58:03.645No. I mean, and we say we've all been there. I don't know everybody else's story.
00:58:03.645 -->
00:58:05.445But I mean, I've been there with things, too, where I'm like,
00:58:05.445 -->
00:58:08.255God, if you do this, I'll do this. And if you do this, I'll do that.
00:58:08.255 -->
00:58:11.345And it's like, yeah, that's not good.
00:58:11.905 -->
00:58:15.395That's not good. It's like you're sitting there trying to bribe God.
00:58:15.395 -->
00:58:23.345Like, if you don't give me this ticket, whatever, I'll give you $100 to put in your wallet.
00:58:23.345 -->
00:58:26.035You know, officer, please don't let that ticket. You know what I mean?
00:58:26.035 -->
00:58:29.775Like, you know, it's like, hey, just take the ticket. Yeah, we have nothing
00:58:29.775 -->
00:58:32.174that can sway God our way.
00:58:32.377 -->
00:58:35.848Right. I think we forget that. Yeah, and that's the thing. Yeah, we do. Yeah.
00:58:36.290 -->
00:58:42.023But, man, it hasn't stopped most of us from trying, you know? Oh, dude, no.
00:58:42.644 -->
00:58:47.105It's funny. He gives us a gift, and then we're like, well, I'll take it if.
00:58:47.729 -->
00:58:52.465Right, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Also, hey, that gift that you gave me that I prayed
00:58:52.465 -->
00:58:54.276for and said was going to make me super happy—,
00:58:54.980 -->
00:59:00.252Turns out it wasn't good enough, and I'm going to need more to go with that part.
00:59:03.512 -->
00:59:08.072But, yeah, exactly, you know. But, man, well, I think, dude,
00:59:08.572 -->
00:59:11.302that's a good stopping point.
00:59:11.302 -->
00:59:15.243We should pray on that because if we start praying about, hey,
00:59:15.510 -->
00:59:20.072you know, I said earlier, asking him, you know, before we do anything like,
00:59:20.072 -->
00:59:23.402God, do you want me to do this? Or do you want me to do that?
00:59:23.402 -->
00:59:25.262Or what do you want me to do?
00:59:25.854 -->
00:59:29.882God, how do you want us to pray? Maybe that's what we should pray on for a couple
00:59:29.882 -->
00:59:35.270of days, you know, and ask him, like, hey, God, how do you want me to pray today?
00:59:35.903 -->
00:59:38.672You know? That's probably one of the most important things you could learn how
00:59:38.672 -->
00:59:40.855to do. Yeah, I would say so.
00:59:41.504 -->
00:59:44.512I would say so. And, like, I wonder how many people do that.
00:59:44.512 -->
00:59:48.972Like, I know that, you know, some of the elders that I've talked to have done,
00:59:48.972 -->
00:59:51.672they ask him, how do you want me to pray?
00:59:51.672 -->
00:59:55.932Who do you want me to pray for what do you want me to pray about today god and
00:59:55.932 -->
01:00:01.464and he'll show him you know he'll show these people that and like but quite frankly.
01:00:02.191 -->
01:00:06.832How many people in their normal day-to-day do you know they have gone to god
01:00:06.832 -->
01:00:10.002and said hey how do you want me to pray like if you're asking god you know do
01:00:10.002 -->
01:00:13.877you want us to go out and eat dinner do you want us to go here and work do you want us to do that,
01:00:14.559 -->
01:00:18.822but are you asking him what he wants you to say to him or how he wants to talk
01:00:18.822 -->
01:00:22.632to you or does he want you to sit there and shut up and actually listen for
01:00:22.632 -->
01:00:26.841once well I think that's why tongues is so important honestly,
01:00:27.522 -->
01:00:33.972yeah because you don't know what's being said it's just the spirit praying for you yeah yeah yeah.
