And as men, we need more help now than ever, I believe.
00:02:12.159 --> 00:02:14.240
And he's here to do it, uh talk about that.
00:02:14.479 --> 00:02:15.919
Adam, welcome to the show.
00:02:16.560 --> 00:02:16.960
Thank you.
00:02:17.039 --> 00:02:18.000
I appreciate the invite.
00:02:18.080 --> 00:02:19.199
I appreciate being here.
00:02:19.680 --> 00:02:21.120
Let's jump into The Forge.
00:02:21.280 --> 00:02:22.000
Great name.
00:02:22.319 --> 00:02:24.240
But what's your mission with The Forge?
00:02:25.520 --> 00:02:27.919
So The Forge is a for-profit corporation.
00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:38.960
Uh it's a men's group, and uh basically what we provide in in our core offering is community and purpose while in pursuit of sovereignty.
00:02:40.639 --> 00:02:44.080
So, how important is community to you and to people out there listening?
00:02:44.879 --> 00:02:45.919
Well, it's a big deal.
00:02:46.000 --> 00:02:48.560
Uh, one of the things that we address is convenience.
00:02:48.719 --> 00:02:52.080
We kind of take a lot of different things and put it in this box called convenience.
00:02:52.240 --> 00:02:57.759
So, what I mean by that is the convenience that a lot of uh largely afforded to us by technology.
00:02:57.919 --> 00:03:09.680
So, for example, you know, food service, fast food, pornography, you know, streaming services, social media, you know, social media, streaming services, stuff like that, you know, they're not bad.
00:03:09.759 --> 00:03:15.840
Uh, one of the things we pride ourselves on is we're actually, while have being extremely principled, we are anti-nothing.
00:03:15.919 --> 00:03:16.879
Uh, and that's important.
00:03:16.960 --> 00:03:20.159
And I'm sure we'll probably talk about that more uh here in a little bit.
00:03:20.400 --> 00:03:26.800
But the idea is that's what's shrinking masculinity um in our in our communities, in our communities around the world.
00:03:26.879 --> 00:03:31.759
I've had the privilege over the years in my in my entrepreneurship to work with people all around the world.
00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:35.360
And I can tell you this is not just an American problem, it's a global problem.
00:03:35.439 --> 00:03:42.800
And it's very rare that I meet somebody where we talk about the idea that masculinity is definitely in a state of decline where they don't absolutely agree.
00:03:43.039 --> 00:03:45.599
And uh convenience is one of the things that we look at.
00:03:45.759 --> 00:04:00.960
It's not to blame convenience, it's to identify it because while we're in pursuit of sovereignty, meaning that we make decisions and take actions based on counsel from those closest to us and our higher power, we learn to deny the influence, the negative influence of these conveniences.
00:04:01.120 --> 00:04:03.919
And then when we do so, we pursue sovereignty.
00:04:04.080 --> 00:04:12.080
The other thing that we discover we call the threat of benevolence, which is the connection between all people, we start to see life from a very different perspective.
00:04:12.240 --> 00:04:18.000
And it's amazing how that practice lends itself to being the providers, the protectors, and the leaders in our communities.
00:04:18.319 --> 00:04:18.959
I love it.
00:04:19.040 --> 00:04:21.360
It's it's that's what we need in this world.
00:04:21.519 --> 00:04:22.480
Exactly what you said.
00:04:22.560 --> 00:04:23.439
You're nailing it.
00:04:23.600 --> 00:04:26.000
How'd the forge for the title of your company come from?
00:04:26.079 --> 00:04:27.759
It's an interesting name.
00:04:28.399 --> 00:04:36.480
Yeah, um, really, we have uh, so my background is I was in commercial construction for about a quarter of a century as an entrepreneur.
00:04:36.639 --> 00:04:42.319
Uh, I got well, I was very fortunate I was able to sell that company, I don't know, going on four or five years ago very favorably.
00:04:42.639 --> 00:04:48.319
My wife is the CEO and founder of a national finance and accounting and finance firm.
00:04:48.560 --> 00:04:50.240
And we've sold that business too.
00:04:50.319 --> 00:04:54.319
So that's where we have time and uh resources to be able to pursue the forge.
00:04:54.720 --> 00:05:05.519
In the course of those, of that work, though, I got to learn what it's like to work with people again, like I said, around the world, India, uh, Philippines, Europe, North Africa, East Africa, all over the place.
00:05:05.759 --> 00:05:12.000
And uh we hired some people when we first committed to this idea with without even having a title.
00:05:12.160 --> 00:05:21.120
And so we basically just came up with a list and we agonized over it for like three months, and all of a sudden, John, this wonderful gentleman, the first person we ever hired, he's like, What if we called it the forge?
00:05:21.279 --> 00:05:28.480
And we talked about how metal and iron and like you can you can forge men in community and this whole thing, and and yeah, it was just perfect.
00:05:28.560 --> 00:05:38.160
And he actually designed our little our first logo and it was perfect, and so yeah, it was just a very, very applicable uh to us principally, morally, and uh and to our message.
00:05:38.480 --> 00:05:46.800
Great lesson in community, even though it sounds like you hired him, but he's part of your community, and he helped you name your your business like my doing business with a servant's heart.
00:05:46.959 --> 00:05:47.839
Same thing in the community.
00:05:47.920 --> 00:05:52.399
Some guy reached out and goes, Hey, you have a heart, you here's your title, and I've taken off since.
00:05:52.480 --> 00:05:54.319
And then it's power of community.
00:05:54.959 --> 00:05:57.680
What are men struggling with most nowadays?
00:05:59.920 --> 00:06:07.519
Well, it's the you know, in men when when men as we've evolved on this planet, you know, we have different roles than women.
00:06:07.600 --> 00:06:10.720
One is not better, one is not worse, one's not superior, one's not inferior.
00:06:10.800 --> 00:06:14.160
Okay, it's all about the human family being in balance.
00:06:14.560 --> 00:06:19.360
Men's part of that contribution to the human family is that we seek lessons, right?
00:06:19.439 --> 00:06:20.079
That's our job.
00:06:20.240 --> 00:06:34.160
We are the ones that left the the tribes, and we're the ones that left the homesteads and have to go out into the wild and hunt and and gather and bring back the resources for our for our people to survive while women remain nourishing and community building and family you know, building at home.
00:06:34.399 --> 00:06:40.560
So it makes sense that we evolved uh to the place where we are now by seeking lessons, not necessarily comfort.
00:06:40.800 --> 00:06:50.160
Unfortunately, what's happened is in my opinion, there are some very powerful companies that have figured out how to profit from the passivity of those men.
00:06:50.480 --> 00:06:54.800
And that's why women are affected by this technology a little and these conveniences different than men.
00:06:54.959 --> 00:06:57.199
It's not conspiracy, it's it's good business.
00:06:57.360 --> 00:06:58.000
I'm a businessman.
00:06:58.160 --> 00:07:00.800
If I had that kind of influence, I'd completely understand it.
00:07:01.040 --> 00:07:08.160
The problem is, and again, this is back to our anti-nothing, is we can solve these problems without drawing hard lines.
00:07:08.319 --> 00:07:11.680
We can solve these problems without dividing our country further.
00:07:12.000 --> 00:07:16.319
No, we don't need another guy out there saying my way's right and everybody else is wrong.
00:07:16.480 --> 00:07:20.399
We don't need another reason to drive half of our country further away from the other half.
00:07:20.639 --> 00:07:30.639
Whereas when we look at this issue, the issue of convenience and some of the marketing and corporate strategies that are really driving this, we can blame the corporations all we want.
00:07:30.959 --> 00:07:32.800
But that's not going to solve the problem.
00:07:32.879 --> 00:07:35.519
We're only going to divide our family worse, you know, further than it is.
00:07:35.680 --> 00:07:38.959
What we can do is look in the mirror, take personal responsibility.
00:07:39.199 --> 00:07:40.879
Why are these things affecting my life?
00:07:41.040 --> 00:07:48.399
Is it really because Google's good at marketing, or is it because I'm not making decisions based on what's best for me and my community?
00:07:48.639 --> 00:08:00.399
So when men are subject to that, they not only forego, you know, growing in life through seeking and learning lessons, trial and error per se, but they're also shrunk by this convenience.
00:08:00.480 --> 00:08:08.480
And you don't have to go very far before you talk to women in our American human family that are talking about, you know, they're on the couch all the time.
00:08:08.560 --> 00:08:09.600
You know, why doesn't he work?
00:08:09.759 --> 00:08:10.879
Why isn't he making decisions?
00:08:11.040 --> 00:08:12.959
Why isn't he doing some of these things?
00:08:13.199 --> 00:08:14.959
And well, because there's a button for that.
00:08:15.120 --> 00:08:16.160
There's an app for that.
00:08:16.319 --> 00:08:17.519
You know, you need to find love.
00:08:17.600 --> 00:08:19.680
You go onto this, you go onto this particular app.
00:08:19.759 --> 00:08:23.360
Of course, it favors a very much small minority group of those people.
00:08:23.439 --> 00:08:29.040
And so, yet again, we're being chipped, you know, their self-esteem, their place in community is chipped away at.
00:08:29.120 --> 00:08:36.720
And so these conveniences just shrink and shrink and shrink and work to eliminate that from our existence.
00:08:36.960 --> 00:08:46.879
The problem is there's nothing to replace it other than anxiety and depression and frankly suicide, as the rates of men is about three and a half times greater uh than it is for women.
00:08:47.039 --> 00:08:51.200
And then women drawn into that vacuum uh is what creates their misery.
00:08:51.360 --> 00:08:52.559
So that's the imbalance.
00:08:52.639 --> 00:08:55.679
And it's not about resurrecting, you know, the 1950s mentality.
00:08:55.759 --> 00:08:56.559
Nobody cares about that.
00:08:56.639 --> 00:08:57.600
That's stupid.
00:08:57.759 --> 00:09:00.240
Uh, we're very forward-thinking, very forward-looking.
00:09:00.399 --> 00:09:08.000
It's not about revolution, it's about looking in the mirror, finding your place and the decisions that we can make uh to make these things better.
00:09:08.080 --> 00:09:18.559
And then when we do that, those companies that are out there profiting off of our passivity will innovate in a way to then serve in a different way and maintain their profitability and continue to grow.
00:09:18.639 --> 00:09:20.480
And so nobody has to suffer from this.
00:09:20.639 --> 00:09:24.080
We just end up ultimately making better decisions.
00:09:24.639 --> 00:09:26.480
Imbalance is a great word in all this.
00:09:26.559 --> 00:09:27.679
I love that you said that.
00:09:28.000 --> 00:09:29.200
That's where it's at right now.
00:09:29.440 --> 00:09:29.840
Yeah.
00:09:30.320 --> 00:09:34.240
In your eyes, what does masculinity look like in five years?
00:09:35.600 --> 00:09:39.679
Well, on its current track, I think it continues to shrink.
00:09:39.840 --> 00:09:44.639
But uh, I have to tell you, uh I don't mean this arrogantly, I mean this as humbly as possible.
00:09:44.799 --> 00:09:47.039
My goal is to change the next five years.
00:09:47.279 --> 00:09:51.200
And the goal of our community of our community and our ambassadors and our entire program.
00:09:51.440 --> 00:09:55.759
And the idea is essentially to bring an awareness, to get men to wake up.
00:09:56.000 --> 00:10:03.840
And it's not to wake up and draw our swords, it's not to raise the rabble, it's to wake up and look in the mirror and understand am I really the best version of myself?
00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:06.879
You know, is it really the feminist that I'm in this situation?
00:10:06.960 --> 00:10:07.600
Uh, it's not.
00:10:07.759 --> 00:10:10.559
Is it really, you know, the dating app that keeps telling me I'm worthless?
00:10:10.720 --> 00:10:11.759
No, it's not.
00:10:12.080 --> 00:10:14.879
It's us looking in the mirror, taking responsibility.
00:10:14.960 --> 00:10:21.360
And when we do that, when we rise individually, our communities will respond.
00:10:21.519 --> 00:10:23.360
And I think initially it's so bad.
00:10:23.519 --> 00:10:26.080
That response will be very comforting, very empowering.
00:10:26.399 --> 00:10:39.200
There'll be a lot of velocity that we can create very, very quickly because when you see this happen, and I've seen it happen many, many times within our communities, these the family of these men is like, whoa, I remember this guy.
00:10:39.279 --> 00:10:40.559
This is the guy I married.
00:10:40.639 --> 00:10:46.799
This is that stud, you know, that I chased after, you know, driving the hot rod down the street or captain of the football team or whatever.
00:10:46.879 --> 00:10:50.240
Not that you need to be either one of those things, just really understand that.
00:10:50.399 --> 00:10:52.240
And you see these communities fall behind.
00:10:52.320 --> 00:10:57.679
So this change can happen rapidly because it's almost like all the fuel is there.
00:10:57.840 --> 00:10:59.919
There just needs to be the right message.
00:11:00.080 --> 00:11:02.799
And that message cannot be divisive.
00:11:03.039 --> 00:11:06.480
It simultaneously must be principled.
00:11:06.720 --> 00:11:17.679
So when you bring those two together, introduce that to men, and they've sparked that fire, and their communities get behind them and induce that energy and like, yes, go, go.
00:11:17.759 --> 00:11:20.080
You got this, keep going, don't stop.
00:11:20.399 --> 00:11:29.679
Uh, you can see leadership and balance return to our entire human community, our entire human family very, very quickly.
00:11:29.840 --> 00:11:37.440
Women no longer overextended outside of the femininity into the masculinity that they are drawn into by our absence.
00:11:37.519 --> 00:11:39.200
There's a vacuum left, right?
00:11:39.360 --> 00:11:45.519
And so that means there's a gravity, there's a pull, there's a suction to where we're having where women have to act more masculinely.
00:11:45.679 --> 00:11:51.200
And in some cases that works, but I can tell you, in a lot of the cases, women are looking for men to step up.
00:11:51.279 --> 00:11:52.879
And they're, I have four daughters.
00:11:52.960 --> 00:11:53.279
Okay.
00:11:53.360 --> 00:11:58.080
I have a wife and four daughters, 25 to 14 years old as of right now.
00:11:58.399 --> 00:12:07.840
Every single one of my daughters individually has come to me and said, I don't understand why every young man I meet wants a mother.
00:12:10.000 --> 00:12:11.120
That's not good.
00:12:11.679 --> 00:12:12.480
You know what I'm hearing?
00:12:12.799 --> 00:12:13.759
It's not good at all.
00:12:13.840 --> 00:12:15.679
Uh, congratulations, your four daughters.
00:12:15.759 --> 00:12:16.320
That's awesome.
00:12:16.559 --> 00:12:22.480
And what I'm hearing out of it is messaging has to change from the outside world, from social media, and we need to look in the mirror.
00:12:22.559 --> 00:12:23.039
I love that.
00:12:23.120 --> 00:12:23.919
And that can change.
00:12:24.159 --> 00:12:25.759
I mean, messaging in the eye.
00:12:25.840 --> 00:12:27.360
It's that's not a hard change.
00:12:27.440 --> 00:12:29.519
It's not easy, but it's not hard either.
00:12:30.159 --> 00:12:30.639
It's doable.
00:12:31.120 --> 00:12:32.879
You mentioned your beautiful four daughters.
00:12:33.039 --> 00:12:35.279
How's that impacted your work with the forge?
00:12:36.080 --> 00:12:38.639
Well, and in full disclosure, my wife and I have a blended family.
00:12:38.720 --> 00:12:39.440
We have six kids.
00:12:39.519 --> 00:12:40.559
The two oldest are boys.
00:12:40.639 --> 00:12:42.799
I haven't the oldest son genetically.
00:12:42.879 --> 00:12:45.360
Uh, we try not to separate in our family at all.
00:12:45.840 --> 00:12:50.480
He's 25, and then we have a 23-year-old son, and then we have four daughters right behind us.
00:12:50.559 --> 00:12:57.519
And, you know, our sons have suffered, you know, video games and you know, not fitting the norm and really suffering.
00:12:57.759 --> 00:13:00.000
So I've seen it from both sides in my life.
00:13:00.240 --> 00:13:07.600
I mean, our sons have suffered tremendously, and they've had to really understand that hey, you've got you got to get off your butt.
00:13:07.759 --> 00:13:09.440
You there's nothing wrong with video games.
00:13:09.600 --> 00:13:10.480
Play video games.
00:13:10.639 --> 00:13:17.120
But if you're looking to learn the lessons that you know your need to pursue instinctually, you're not going to find it there.
00:13:17.200 --> 00:13:19.360
What you're going to find is anxiety and depression.
00:13:19.519 --> 00:13:22.000
They're learning that and they're doing a really good job.
00:13:22.240 --> 00:13:26.080
My daughters, on the other hand, are on the receiving end of having to go out into community.
00:13:26.159 --> 00:13:32.080
And by the way, I live in Littleton, Colorado, and I've lived in this same zip code for almost every minute of my 47 years.
00:13:32.240 --> 00:13:36.399
So uh I've got to know this community very, very, very well and see this impact.
00:13:36.559 --> 00:13:41.360
And so when my daughters come to me and say, Dad, I there's these nice boys.
00:13:41.440 --> 00:13:42.799
My daughters are well adjusted.
00:13:42.960 --> 00:13:46.080
We, you know, they they're not drug addicts, they're all do good in school.
00:13:46.159 --> 00:13:48.799
Like these are all intelligent, hardworking young women.
00:13:48.960 --> 00:13:56.159
And they come and say, I these guys, I mean, no matter what they look like, no matter how they are, they all end up in this place where they want a mother, and I don't understand why.
00:13:56.399 --> 00:14:06.799
And so that was one of the things after I retired from commercial construction that just I really had time to get involved with them in a way that I hadn't had time before and learn from from their perspective.
00:14:06.879 --> 00:14:18.159
And yeah, that that got me fired up uh because I'm like, I I'm in a position where I have the resources and the time to do something, and and I don't want my daughters to grow up in this community where I grew up, where there was never the case before.
00:14:18.320 --> 00:14:20.720
Nobody was we weren't looking for a mother in those days.
00:14:20.799 --> 00:14:26.879
We were looking for the honor of the responsibility of being able to contribute to a family.
00:14:27.440 --> 00:14:31.679
A forge can help parents, it sounds like, as well as men and as well as men women.
00:14:31.919 --> 00:14:33.039
It's across the board.
00:14:34.159 --> 00:14:41.120
That's good because the forge, I want the audience to know, is it's got a masculine tone to it, but he's helping everybody.
00:14:41.200 --> 00:14:42.799
I mean, he's a better parent because of it.
00:14:43.120 --> 00:14:47.679
And the can and and I love this because community is so big of this very emotional subject.
00:14:48.080 --> 00:14:48.320
Yeah.
00:14:48.879 --> 00:14:54.159
I mean, it's it's and you got five guys talking about this, good stuff's gonna happen.
00:14:54.720 --> 00:14:58.799
Yeah, and and we've just so it's so amazing that my wife and I had this time.
00:14:58.879 --> 00:15:01.279
We traveled all around the world, we traveled all over the country.
00:15:01.360 --> 00:15:03.200
We just really, you know, we've been everywhere.
00:15:03.279 --> 00:15:14.159
I tell everybody we started in Honolulu and end up in East Africa, you know, in the impenetrable forest in the backcountry, and some of the most uh if you didn't if you didn't believe in a higher power, go step step foot in those those, they call them forests.
00:15:14.320 --> 00:15:15.840
I'm in Colorado, those are forests.
00:15:16.000 --> 00:15:18.000
What I what I saw in East Africa was jungle.
00:15:18.159 --> 00:15:27.360
But you know, if you don't, if you don't believe in a higher power, step foot there in a six million-year-old forest and uh see if that doesn't change the way you view everything coming back from that.
00:15:27.519 --> 00:15:28.879
Uh, and it's a huge deal.
00:15:28.960 --> 00:15:36.000
And you realize, like I stood in villages that still don't have electricity and talked about this, and it was there was a resonance there.
00:15:36.159 --> 00:15:41.519
These people really understood, they hear about what's going on even outside, and they're conscious of it.
00:15:41.679 --> 00:15:42.799
So this is everywhere.
00:15:43.360 --> 00:15:51.200
Even in some respect, they're probably better off without the technology, social media, media, all that messaging them every day.
00:15:51.519 --> 00:15:54.000
Aren't they a little better off in that respect?
00:15:54.720 --> 00:15:57.840
Well, that's you know, those communities are so vastly different.
00:15:58.000 --> 00:16:05.519
I mean, as Americans, you know, we look at that, you know, and and we go into these these villages, we would we spend several, we spent almost a month there.
00:16:06.080 --> 00:16:07.679
And these people have nothing.
00:16:07.840 --> 00:16:11.120
Like we we think of poor people as somebody that lives in a project house.
00:16:11.200 --> 00:16:21.759
And when I say nothing, I mean nothing, like barely have clothes, and yet they find satisfaction, they find community, they find happiness.
00:16:21.840 --> 00:16:30.960
I mean, these there's these kids you'd be out trekking through the jungle, and you think you're like literally in the middle of the nowhere and you're looking for these giant gorillas in the wild, and you hear this, how are you?
00:16:31.360 --> 00:16:33.600
And it's a young child, barely closed.
00:16:33.679 --> 00:16:52.080
I don't know how far I can't see him at all, you know, just hearing another person doesn't care what you look like, where you're from, and they're reaching out, and they just and when you respond that way, you can hear the laughter, uh, even though you really feel like you're just in the middle of absolutely nowhere, literally bushwhacking, like you can't take a step without a machete kind of thing.
00:16:52.159 --> 00:16:55.919
Uh, but they're reaching out for a community and they're so happy to share it.
00:16:56.080 --> 00:17:06.720
Uh, so it's just a so different, you know, they don't have the kind of things we have in America to even build the scale of like value, of worth, of status.
00:17:06.799 --> 00:17:12.880
I mean, they don't there's nothing to commit to, there's nothing to constitute status in their community.
00:17:13.039 --> 00:17:15.519
So what they're left with is humanity.
00:17:16.160 --> 00:17:17.359
That's a fantastic story.
00:17:17.519 --> 00:17:18.960
That bad audience.
00:17:19.119 --> 00:17:28.319
If you listen to that and think twice about what you're doing, but I'm gonna because you gotta keep back and listen to these stories and embed them in your soul when you go out and start working with people.
00:17:28.960 --> 00:17:31.440
You mentioned uh in a question you gave me about listening.
00:17:31.519 --> 00:17:33.759
I'm a big shut up and listen.
00:17:34.160 --> 00:17:35.680
It's so important anything you do.
00:17:35.920 --> 00:17:39.519
But respectful gratitude, how does that mend social the division?
00:17:42.319 --> 00:17:43.759
Well, that's one of our rules, right?
00:17:43.839 --> 00:17:45.839
That we listen with respect and gratitude.
00:17:46.079 --> 00:17:50.960
I mean, that's just period what it is, and we sometimes have to teach men exactly what we mean by that.
00:17:51.599 --> 00:17:56.400
But it being heard is one of our most important offerings to people.
00:17:56.559 --> 00:18:01.200
I mean, we've had men come in literally wrapped head to toe on the brink of suicide.
00:18:01.440 --> 00:18:05.119
Uh, and because we don't turn away anything, our message is not directed.
00:18:05.279 --> 00:18:08.880
We it is wide open to any person that wants to walk in the door.
00:18:09.039 --> 00:18:18.799
Uh any man, we don't it is a men's organization, but uh being hurt, you know, so many times, you know, men discover shame.
00:18:19.039 --> 00:18:27.519
And then the way they deal with shame, because maybe they came up short one day or they had a good intention and whatever it is, for whatever reason it didn't work, you know, they can't confide in people.
00:18:27.599 --> 00:18:29.440
They can't even confide a lot of times in their wife.
00:18:29.519 --> 00:18:30.480
That's not the wife's problem.
00:18:30.559 --> 00:18:37.680
They just feel like they can't, and they don't have the mechanism or the understanding to look in the mirror and figure out how to develop themselves.
00:18:37.839 --> 00:18:41.200
And frankly, we're not supposed to because we're communal people by nature.
00:18:41.359 --> 00:18:45.440
I mean, in my opinion, uh, God created us that way.
00:18:45.759 --> 00:18:53.599
And so when they show up, you know, we're not one of the number one things we can offer is simply a place to be heard.
00:18:53.759 --> 00:18:59.519
And when we have we have bi-weekly gatherings that are live, we were in an office complex, we've actually now moved into a theater.
00:18:59.920 --> 00:19:28.400
One of the things that we do is we provide a platform for that and just bearing witness as the host of these live events in what happens when a man feels like I can be heard, I can say the things I'm ashamed of, and that shame gets absorbed and can be absorbed endlessly by this community of other men that not only understand because they have a similar disposition in life, but uh but aren't there to tell me that I'm wrong.
00:19:28.480 --> 00:19:30.160
They're there to tell you how to do it better.
00:19:30.319 --> 00:19:35.759
They're there to be there for you when you want to take the step of looking in the mirror and starting to own your life.
00:19:36.000 --> 00:19:40.480
The only thing we don't tolerate once men start to take on this work is that there's excuses.
00:19:40.559 --> 00:19:45.200
It's not your wife's fault, it's not the feminist's fault, it's not this guy's fault, it's not that guy's fault.
00:19:45.359 --> 00:19:46.720
Let's look at your part in it.
00:19:46.880 --> 00:19:51.200
And it's not to blame them for everything, it's to give them the power to own their situation.
00:19:51.279 --> 00:19:56.240
And what we say is once you own it, you're free to give it away and let it go and then assent.
00:19:56.960 --> 00:19:57.599
I love that.
00:19:57.680 --> 00:19:58.720
That's a great message.
00:19:59.119 --> 00:20:01.920
Listening's big and being heard is just as big.
00:20:02.000 --> 00:20:03.359
They're the yin each other.
00:20:03.680 --> 00:20:11.359
We're coming to the end here, but what's a piece of advice that a man, you know, males listening that you could give them to help them build their masculinity?
00:20:12.559 --> 00:20:18.559
Yeah, I mean, the number one thing, uh, the number one pursuit in any individual is taking personal responsibility.
00:20:18.720 --> 00:20:20.160
It's another thing that convenience does.
00:20:20.240 --> 00:20:22.000
It gives us a place to point, a place to blame.
00:20:22.160 --> 00:20:28.000
I mean, psychology fundamentally is this whole ideology that, you know, something happened to you in the past and now you're a victim.
00:20:28.079 --> 00:20:29.440
So here's your label, right?
00:20:29.599 --> 00:20:37.039
Now, sometimes that's the truth, and I don't, I'm not a psychologist, but there's other times where those labels, I'm depressed, I have anxiety, I have ADHD.
00:20:37.200 --> 00:20:40.400
Sometimes those labels are necessary and treatment is certainly necessary.
00:20:40.640 --> 00:20:53.920
But sometimes it's about owning that an understanding of how you got into that and giving yourself a chance to try to take that on, let go of the things that are causing you to feel that way and therefore act that way and move on to the next level.
00:20:54.079 --> 00:20:55.680
If you need treatment, you need treatment.
00:20:55.839 --> 00:20:57.440
Nobody ever denies treatment.
00:20:57.599 --> 00:20:59.839
But there's also this idea of convenience, right?
00:20:59.920 --> 00:21:03.680
And we've got to look past that to our own responsibility, give ourselves every shot.
00:21:03.920 --> 00:21:05.839
Then if we need treatment, fair enough.
00:21:06.079 --> 00:21:19.839
But so often when we do that, and then the next component is community, and we find a community to plug into, they the synergy there and the really it's just it's being congruent with how we're designed, you know, as people, right?
00:21:20.079 --> 00:21:25.519
We're so separated and isolated, especially post-pandemic, uh, this ideology is really crept in.
00:21:25.599 --> 00:21:27.359
But we that's not natural for us.
00:21:27.519 --> 00:21:46.640
And so if you find a place to go, if you can start to take personal responsibility, you can start to understand uh that it's okay, the situation that you're in, and that we could this all is solvable, and then you supercharge that with a community, whether it's ours or somebody else's, doesn't matter who's got your back, then the capacity, your own capacity and your own value becomes exponential.
00:21:47.599 --> 00:21:48.559
That's a great tip.
00:21:48.960 --> 00:21:50.240
Audience run with that.
00:21:50.559 --> 00:21:54.799
Um real quick, I like to get to know my guests a little per more personally.
00:21:55.279 --> 00:21:56.799
So I'm gonna ask you a unique question.
00:21:57.039 --> 00:22:05.759
You're at a restaurant with a table of four, you occupy one of the seats, dead or alive, who would you love to sit in those three seats that are empty?
00:22:07.599 --> 00:22:14.559
That's so funny because somebody posted this question the other day on our community board, and uh some of the sponsors were amazing.
00:22:15.039 --> 00:22:17.279
Um who would I want?
00:22:17.359 --> 00:22:18.079
So three people.
00:22:18.160 --> 00:22:20.240
Well, Abraham Lincoln for sure.
00:22:20.559 --> 00:22:29.519
Uh I'd really, really, really whoever is the director at CERN, the large hadron particle collider in Europe.
00:22:29.599 --> 00:22:32.160
I don't know who that is, but he would be the one.
00:22:32.319 --> 00:22:35.200
And there was one I was actually trying to remember the other day, and I can't think of his name.
00:22:35.279 --> 00:22:39.279
He was the program director for the Mercury, Apollo, and Gemini missions, the same program director.
00:22:39.359 --> 00:22:40.319
I can't remember his name.
00:22:40.640 --> 00:22:41.119
Gene.
00:22:41.680 --> 00:22:42.559
That's it.
00:22:42.880 --> 00:22:44.240
Gene Harris?
00:22:44.720 --> 00:22:45.359
Is that what it is?
00:22:45.519 --> 00:22:45.759
Gene.
00:22:45.920 --> 00:22:46.559
I know it's Gene.
00:22:46.880 --> 00:22:47.039
Gene.
00:22:47.200 --> 00:22:47.920
Gene Lovell.
00:22:48.079 --> 00:22:49.519
No, that was the astronaut.
00:22:49.680 --> 00:22:52.319
Uh, Ed Harris played him in the in Apollo 11.
00:22:52.480 --> 00:22:55.519
He did, but I that that gentleman's his first name.
00:22:55.599 --> 00:22:56.480
I don't remember his last name.
00:22:56.720 --> 00:22:56.960
Gene.
00:22:57.200 --> 00:23:02.079
Yeah, that's that's one of the most fascinating characters in just for his role.
00:23:02.160 --> 00:23:07.440
I don't know anything about him personally, just for his role in the in the development of technology in our country.
00:23:07.519 --> 00:23:08.720
I would love to sit and have dinner with.
00:23:08.960 --> 00:23:09.759
I couldn't even imagine.
00:23:10.000 --> 00:23:10.960
Talk about pressure.
00:23:11.200 --> 00:23:14.720
I don't know how he did it, but then sign up for that again and again and again.
00:23:14.880 --> 00:23:15.759
Yeah, yeah.
00:23:16.559 --> 00:23:18.640
Well, sometimes you're crazy in a good way.
00:23:18.799 --> 00:23:23.200
Here's the last question I add to this what food would you order for the table?
00:23:23.759 --> 00:23:27.440
Well, that's interesting, sir, because I've been vegan for going on six, seven years now.
00:23:27.519 --> 00:23:31.920
So uh what food would I order for those?
00:23:32.000 --> 00:23:32.799
I doubt they're vegan.
00:23:32.880 --> 00:23:34.480
I doubt any of those guys were vegan.
00:23:34.559 --> 00:23:35.599
So uh I don't know.
00:23:35.680 --> 00:23:38.720
I guess it'd be steaks for them and uh I don't know.
00:23:38.960 --> 00:23:40.880
Some kind of veggies, something or other for me.
00:23:40.960 --> 00:23:42.720
I eat kind of the same things every day.
00:23:42.799 --> 00:23:45.279
I've been doing it for years, so I don't venture out too much.
00:23:45.680 --> 00:23:46.160
That's all right.
00:23:46.400 --> 00:23:47.039
Vegan it is.
00:23:47.119 --> 00:23:50.000
We'll make it a vegetable type of meal, and that's perfect.
00:23:50.079 --> 00:23:51.279
Uh, what a great group.
00:23:51.440 --> 00:23:52.240
Thank you for sharing.
00:23:52.319 --> 00:23:53.039
I appreciate it.
00:23:53.200 --> 00:23:57.839
And how can people you you've given us a lot of motivation, inspiration, educated us?
00:23:58.000 --> 00:23:59.839
I'm sure people have questions or want to reach out.
00:24:00.000 --> 00:24:01.039
How can they find you Adam?
00:24:01.599 --> 00:24:05.039
Really the best way is through our website, the forge.life.
00:24:05.119 --> 00:24:13.039
Uh, we have a brand new website preparing to launch that'll get you to our online platform, uh, our community, get us get you to all our socials, uh, all that stuff.
