Speaker 1: You signed a lot of these guys for October. While people were soured on Teoscar Hernandez, I was like, I buy into that dude in October because he's still standing there, by the way, watching that home earth.
00:00:22
Speaker 2: What up, everybody, and welcome to the first postseason postgame of Dodgers territory. Clint Pasillas, Alana Rizzo, we are here taking you through game one.
00:00:32
Speaker 3: Cheers to thee, everybody. Cheers to you, Clint. Postseason is here.
00:00:37
Speaker 2: It has arrived, and the Dodgers take game one 5-3 over the Atlanta Braves. We're going to talk all things Teoscar. all things, Kyle Tucker, all things, Max Muncy, all things, Tarek Scoble. But first let's start with the end and go backwards. Let's start with that ninth inning. Tanner Scott, thank goodness, Clint Tanner had a cushion, but that's not what you want to see.
00:01:00
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:01:01
Speaker 1: Um, listen, I guess get it out of the way. Now let Tanner Scott get the bad ending out of the way. Now, um, serves up a two run Homer to Ozzie Albies. I wasn't expecting a lot out of Ozzie in this series. Uh, Last night we did a sort of final pre-series show on my All Dodgers channel, and my buddy Kevin says... Well, he's somebody I'm watching this series. Ozzie Albies is like, really? In this day and age? He showed you. He's still got something in the tank. I don't know. Like, do you worry about Tanner Scott already immediately after this? Like, I don't know. I'm on the fence if I'm worried. Like, we entered this postseason feeling fantastic about the starting rotation, and we do with Derek Skubal's game one start. But now, you know, the guy who Dave wants to turn to most often in the ninth didn't have a good, you know, But I guess 2026 postseason debut.
00:01:55
Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I mean, no, I'm not worried.
00:01:57
Speaker 2: I'm not worried because I do think, you know, when you have a five to one lead, you don't necessarily have to nibble as much. I do think that this is a guy that knows what he's doing. Thank goodness we have the cushion. I don't think that Dave would hesitate going to him again. It was a little too close for comfort, but I think it's too soon. Now, if he has a couple of other outings like that, whether it's in the ninth inning or leading up to the ninth inning, then I'm a little bit more concerned if he's allowing a lot of traffic on the bases. But for this one, or not even traffic on the bases, Ozzie Albies didn't even really have to touch him. But, you know, I think I'm not concerned yet.
00:02:34
Speaker 3: Not in the first game.
00:02:36
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:02:36
Speaker 1: Again, get it out of the way now. Evan Phillips comes in behind him with two outs, walks the leadoff batter he faces, of course, to bring up Austin Riley, who has himself some big postseason moments.
00:02:50
Speaker 3: That made me nervous.
00:02:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Thankfully everything works out and your Dodgers win game one. We are happy about that. We are thrilled about that. You know who I was thrilled with? I don't know. Do you want to talk more pitching? Do we want to stay in the pitching lane and talk about Tarek Skubal, or do we want to talk about dingers?
00:03:07
Speaker 3: Um... Let's talk about Tarek.
00:03:10
Speaker 2: Let's go from the closer to the starter. Tarek Skubal was awesome to see him in his Dodgers postseason debut. Enters the start on Saturday, a 204 ERA, six career postseason starts. So he knows how to pitch in the postseason, Clint, when it matters the most. He had struck out 56, walked just six batters of the 148 batters he.
00:03:33
Speaker 3: Faced coming into this game. I think a couple of things.
00:03:37
Speaker 2: The heat might have gotten to him there at the latter portion of his outing.
00:03:41
Speaker 3: And not only.
00:03:42
Speaker 2: The heat, but the fact that he had some really quick innings. He's kind of just sitting in the dugout waiting for the Dodgers offense to do its thing. So I think he did great, though, obviously gives up one home run.
00:03:52
Speaker 3: So one earned run.
00:03:54
Speaker 2: In six innings of work, I love the fact that now it looks brilliant, right, that Tarek Skubal started game one, Blake Snell's going in game two, and then Yoshinobu Yamamoto will go in game three. So Tarek Skubal, this is why you got him, right? This is why you signed him and got him at the trade deadline. This is why every team that was in contention should have gone after him. And the Dodgers did it, and this is a massive arm that they needed, and he proved them right.
00:04:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the heat got to him eventually, but leadoff single by Drake Baldwin, and after that retires the next 15 Braves in order that he faces. And then, yeah, into that sixth inning, I think he was just gassed. What's funny, it's the bad luck, it's the hubris, I guess you could say, to a degree, because I was about to type to a text thread I'm a part of, Um, like complete game shutout. Cause he was into the six. He was at only like 67 pitches at that time. And then sure enough, Sean Murphy goes yard, but thankfully limits the damage to just that. And yeah, six full, the two hits one earned. Two walks, both in that inning, seven punches, 94 pitches, all things considered with the Heat. His first real honest-to-God game, one start with a major league team, with all due respect to the Detroit Tigers.
00:05:16
Speaker 3: That's not very nice. That's why you trade for him. That's why you trade for him. Absolutely right.
00:05:21
Speaker 2: And I do feel that this was an absolute must-win game, and obviously not because it is the NLDS, not because postseason is so much more difficult to get wins, but because the Atlanta Braves were starting a bullpen game. Like, if you have Carrick Scouble on the hill and you have a bullpen game, you.
00:05:41
Speaker 3: Better frickin' win.
00:05:42
Speaker 2: I don't care who the Dodgers would have started in game one. When your opponent is throwing a bullpen game and you know– that they are tired, you know that their relieving core is not where they want them to be. They're scrambling and kind of limping into the postseason. You must get this game when you have that ace. We get another ace tomorrow and then another ace game three. This is a must win for that reason alone.
00:06:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be– I don't know if that's an end-all, be-all for the Dodgers, of course, because it still would be– the Braves would still need to win two more games. But, yeah, if you end up losing– a bullpen game. That is just such a momentum shift. That is a fantastic point there. So don't give them that chance. And Hey, now we're still not certain that they're going to have Chris sale available in game two. Um, you know, so far Walt Weiss unwilling to, uh, are unwilling or unknowing on whether or not sales going to be available as, as we talked about yesterday, Chris sales older now, like to have him go out there and pull a max, a max Scherzer like he did with the Dodgers in 2021 and, Scherzer had a tough time coming back and being available for the team.
00:06:51
Speaker 3: He did.
00:06:51
Speaker 2: But Scherzer, en route to that point, was not having the type of season that Chris Sale has put together this year or last year.
00:06:59
Speaker 1: He was really good after they traded for him.
00:07:01
Speaker 2: I think Chris Sale has pitched better this year than he did even earlier on in his career.
00:07:07
Speaker 3: So I don't. Yes, he's older, but so are we.
00:07:10
Speaker 2: I just don't put it past him to have a really good outing, but I'd love it for not to even be an issue.
00:07:15
Speaker 3: Or, furthermore, force the issue. Force him to pitch. You know what I mean?
00:07:19
Speaker 1: I want to look at some more Tarek Skubal, by the way, the numbers here. Just throw that up on the screen while we're also talking about Chris Sale showing off the new graphics. Shout out our buddy Derek Lewandowski, who hosts Pinstripe Territory, our Yankees counterpart here on the Foul Network. Hell of a game. Hell of a season. But yeah, Chris Sale, he's fantastic. We know this much. And if he gets the ball for game three, I mean, that's still good. Hopefully he gets the ball for game three and the Braves are down to nothing in the series because I'd feel a lot better about that one. We'll talk more about all of that coming up. What do you got?
00:07:55
Speaker 2: I do want to bring something up in the chat that is, I think, a very good point. Vtrack1963 says, I'm grateful Roberts didn't stick with Scott, although Phillips walking the first guy sucks also. Good point on both points. I think this is another explanation or another... example, rather, of Dave Roberts maturing as a manager and saying, look, Tarek Skubal obviously doesn't have it right now.
00:08:21
Speaker 3: I'm going to go ahead and.
00:08:22
Speaker 2: Make the decision before it got to the point of no return where it could have ended up tied. Yes, you don't want Evan Phillips to walk the first guy. That's not helpful either. But the frame of mind would just be like, nope, we don't have time. I don't have time to To see how this goes. We're in this to win every single game. So that was a good point, I think, that he made for sure.
00:08:44
Speaker 1: No, it's a really good point to bring up there. Yeah, and if we were smarter about being prepared for that ninth inning, because that ninth inning happened pretty quick, if we're being honest. And usually when we get to the ninth inning, that's the fun part where I get to pay attention the least because I need to start getting things, you know, the ones and twos and bells and whistles ready here for the show. So you don't really see how quick. an inning can speed up there, but yeah, shout out to Dave, managing immediately with that kind of urgency. He was ready. I think Matt Olsen was also Tarek Skubal's last batter in that inning regardless, and that sixth inning, thankfully, gets him on the pop-up, 100-mile-an-hour cheese, I think it was, to get him out, or maybe that was in the first inning, but a similar situation there to end the sixth inning and that threat for the Braves. But yeah, I mean, all in all, outside of that ninth inning, great game on the pitching front. Birthday Brock, he gets a seventh inning. Somebody who we'll talk, we can talk a little bit later more about the roster situation, but we weren't certain Brock Stewart was going to be on this postseason roster. He ends up making the roster, tosses a one, two, three inning with a punchy in there. And Vessia, you know, a buddy texted me uh saying it's great to have Vessia back because I also kind of forgot they didn't have Alex Vessia in the world series and that was a huge huge missing.
00:10:04
Speaker 2: Part yeah they really they really needed him last year obviously we know why and he was exactly where he needed to be but it is great and you're thinking too you're like okay so Tarek Skubal's in their lefty Vessia is also a lefty so it's like you know, the lesser of two evils in that situation in terms of Scooble kind of fatiguing at that point and Vestia coming into the game, hopefully with what would have been, you know, a clean inning. That's kind of what you want. But they, you know, Tarek Scooble did his job. The bullpen did its job for the most part. It was a little hairy there.
00:10:32
Speaker 3: I understand that completely.
00:10:33
Speaker 2: But, Bottom line is they win game one, and there's 10 more to go before they three-peat. Obviously, that is the goal this season.
00:10:45
Speaker 3: Do we want to talk dingers now?
00:10:47
Speaker 1: Let's talk some dingers.
00:10:50
Speaker 3: Let's talk some dingers. How about the current outfielders?
00:10:54
Speaker 2: That have not necessarily come up clutch in the regular season. I have been preaching how great Kyle Tucker is all season long, Clint.
00:11:01
Speaker 1: I don't know.
00:11:02
Speaker 3: Exactly. I don't know. I mean, I've been harping on this. No, I'm kidding. Kyle Tucker, again, massive moment. Welcome, welcome.
00:11:10
Speaker 2: That'll cement yourself into the appreciation lobe of some fans.
00:11:14
Speaker 1: Yeah. Like you said in our rundown, Kyle fucking Tucker. Been saying all year. It doesn't matter. You signed this dude. for october you signed a lot of these guys for october we talked to tyler glass now two days ago and pretty much you know i i asked around the fact that you guys just really need to be ready for the month of october you know pictures like him like blake snell so on and so forth there's a reason while people were soured on teoscar hernandez i'm like i buy into that dude in october because he's gonna he's still standing there by the way watching that homer thank god like like That was absolute cinema there. Get Mateo in the batter's box with the runner on base on a warmer day, a hot-ass day, really, in L.A. You know that ball's going to fly fucking halfway up.
00:12:05
Speaker 2: You want the Latin guys that love the heat in those scenarios. Yeah, the Hernandez brothers, man. When it comes to October, it's just a different beast. So, Tao, that was awesome to get the Dodgers on the board with that two-run shot, obviously. And then, you know, Kyle Tucker, an unlikely hero. Two for four tonight, the two RBIs, obviously. He scored the run. He had a stolen base. 12 for 12 on stolen bags in the regular season. He's one for one so far in this playoff push. And then Max Muncy, who is like, duh, you just expect Max Muncy to homer, right? I mean, he's just that dude. He's just that guy. So listen, if they have to win it via the long ball the entire time, as long as you play good defense, you know, and you throw and catch the ball well, I'll take it.
00:12:52
Speaker 1: Yeah. Postseason homer number 17 to extend. his Dodgers franchise lead. Again, everything before the ninth inning was just a very fun baseball game, the kind of game, the kind of game, type of game you want to see as a Dodger fan. And like you said, it can't be not overstated enough, if that's how you would say this, that you need to win a game where the Braves are throwing a bullpen game, especially if it's game one and it's in your ballpark and they did just that, Tao got them going. Um, yeah, you love it. You know, I, I am, I'm, I'm slightly mad at Mookie. I had some money on him to hit a Homer, but he let me down, unfortunately. But yeah, let's get into some of the chats, by the way, people hanging out with us. And, um, Don Davis is hitting us. Hold on. Let me, uh, let me fix the way this looks here on my screen before I share it to everybody else. Uh, I'm using, using some different looks, but Don Davis, $ 2 saying Alana. It's going to be great.
00:13:55
Speaker 3: It's going to be great. It's going to be great.
00:13:57
Speaker 1: It was great. It was a great game today.
00:13:59
Speaker 3: You're right, Don. Appreciate you very much. I'm assuming. Yeah. All right.
00:14:02
Speaker 2: So appreciate that, Don. A couple of other super chats in here. I think I saw one.
00:14:07
Speaker 1: We got the Enigma in here as well. $ 4. 99 saying, I feel like a proud papa with my boy Tucker coming through. And y'all chill on Scott. He's been great all year, and we won. Postseason is binary. Yeah, that's one of those things.
00:14:20
Speaker 2: That's why I'm not concerned because he has had a strong– now, I would have been more concerned had he had the year he had last year.
00:14:25
Speaker 3: I know he's in that situation.
00:14:27
Speaker 1: You don't worry immediately. You flag it. You certainly flag it as like, okay, here's.
00:14:34
Speaker 2: Something to keep your eye on, for sure. Something to keep your eye on. Gabriel Kuznot, 7840, Super Chat, $ 5. We appreciate you very much, Gabriel. And that's all she wrote.
00:14:43
Speaker 3: Game over. Dodgers win, baby. One down, 10 to go. That's right. Go Dodgers.
00:14:46
Speaker 2: Appreciate you guys participating here on Dodgers Territory. Supports the show very much.
00:14:51
Speaker 3: Thank you. Appreciate that. Latino slang.
00:14:53
Speaker 1: I don't know. This is good. Latino slant. Great name.
00:14:57
Speaker 3: Let's tuck and go. Hola, Clint and Alana. One down, ten to go. What's up, buddy? Thanks for the support. We appreciate that. Can we please talk about Pajas and challenges?
00:15:06
Speaker 1: Listen. Listen. I think what made it worse was how egregious that ball four that was called a strike three to Mookie was in the first inning. And Mookie finding it within himself to not challenge because it's the first inning and he's the first batter of the game.
00:15:22
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:15:23
Speaker 1: It's like you can understand even as obvious as it was. It's like, listen, I'm going to take the veteran move, the veteran play here and not potentially blow a challenge.
00:15:32
Speaker 2: I mean, you've got so much more time in the game at that point to win the game and figure it out. And first inning, first batter of the game. That is not the time.
00:15:42
Speaker 3: That's a pro move by Mookie, Marcus Lynn. But Andy, I love you, man.
00:15:46
Speaker 2: You're a big part of what's been happening with the success of this club. Take challenges away.
00:15:52
Speaker 3: Take him away. Like you are not allowed to challenge.
00:15:55
Speaker 1: I think, I think in the bottom of the eighth too, like there was a pitch he wanted to challenge. I'm pretty sure he got the heavy red light from the dugout after that was the second inning. But yeah, not also for Andy, just another one of those things you're not worried about, but you flag it for now.
00:16:14
Speaker 3: Not a great first.
00:16:14
Speaker 1: Game offensively more so like, hopefully you don't let that mentally snowball on you, you know, Dropping an 0 for there for Pahez. Played a really nice center field, tough sun field. It's not as much of a sun field as right field is, but there was a play where he's kind of like using the glove, shielding the sun, all that kind of stuff. So I appreciate that much. I also appreciate Shohei Otani's first at bat. Oh, not homers. Hits a hard single. Ends up getting stranded. So I got to do, hit the ball hard. Good things are eventually going to happen.
00:16:50
Speaker 2: I mean, he was crushing dingers on the field earlier today, right?
00:16:54
Speaker 3: I don't know.
00:16:55
Speaker 2: It wasn't necessarily BP, but it was the other day when he was doing sim games or whatever.
00:17:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they said he hit 11 homers yesterday in live BP. 11 homers and 23 at-bats or something like that, 23 pitches more so. So you like that. We like 499 in the super chats from Raul Navar.
00:17:16
Speaker 3: Raul Navar.
00:17:17
Speaker 1: Says, school was raking. Tanner Scott is who we thought he was. Tao and Tucker look good. Gonna be great.
00:17:22
Speaker 3: It's gonna be great.
00:17:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, how have we not made that a shirt, by the way? I know.
00:17:26
Speaker 3: What's going on with that, Sarah?
00:17:29
Speaker 1: By the way, if you guys do want some sweet, sweet DT swag, or I guess it's less so DT swag. This is stuff you could find over on the Fowl Territory shop. You can check out the shirts they got there. Scan that QR code. It also goes to helping us help and support the network. And you got Scoob in there. You got Yamamoto, your Game 3 starter.
00:17:50
Speaker 3: I have the Yamamoto shirt. It's sick. I love it. It was funny. I don't know if you guys, I'm sure you did if you're watching the game.
00:17:56
Speaker 2: If you saw Tarek Skubal's interview with our own Ken Rosenthal, check out Fair Territory with Ken Rosenthal. He also appears often on foul territory. But, you know, Ken was just asking about the, because I believe that Tanner Scott has the, all of his postseason victories have come on the road. So he's not used to hearing home fans cheer in terms of the postseason because he's.
00:18:16
Speaker 3: Never been at Comerica, right?
00:18:18
Speaker 2: So here, obviously, home fans are cheering for him.
00:18:20
Speaker 3: And he's like, it's very similar. Scoob is very similar to Boo.
00:18:24
Speaker 2: I thought that was a very funny comment from him. But it's nice that he was able to get the home fans behind him and also get some run support. Because that's not something that Tanner Scott has had in his previous postseason appearances with the Tigres.
00:18:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, 100%. And, yeah, playing at home. being the first guy on the mound because you are the home team. It's a different kind of feel. And, of course, right away, I'm joking around in my Discord chat telling people, it's like, oh, he gives up the leadoff homer to Drake Baldwin. Why is it not Yamamoto getting game one? You always got to question the team and the decisions and all that kind of stuff, but we don't question a 1-0 series advantage. And just before The end of the game there, I was looking over with the trading kind of lines, odds, with our friends at Calshi. The Dodgers to win the series now, trading at 85%. I would say find another trade because $ 25 wins you only $ 29.
00:19:25
Speaker 3: 42.
00:19:25
Speaker 1: You're not going to win a whole lot. saying your Dodgers are going to win here. But that trade does pay out if you are right. And, of course, you guys know Kalshi's with us through this postseason run. Hopefully beyond that, it is a peer-to-peer trading app. It is not a sportsbook. You're directly trading with other users and players. here's a promo code for you. Scan that. You get $ 55 added to your account. When you scan that and you place a $ 25 total, or total $ 25 in trade, you could also use the promo code baseball. But again, scan that QR code or go ahead and just hit the link in the description below, and that'll go a long way in helping us out there as well. So, thanks for that.
00:20:17
Speaker 3: Yeah. We appreciate that.
00:20:19
Speaker 2: Also guys, don't forget before we look ahead to game two, which we're going to do that here momentarily on Dodgers territory, the special posting edition, a reminder to smash that subscribe button on YouTube, please rate and review the podcast, Apple, Spotify, wherever you get your pods, you know, the drill, we ask you this every single time, but it is important.
00:20:34
Speaker 3: We appreciate it. If you're already following us. Thank you. It's free. It's free to subscribe.
00:20:39
Speaker 2: It gives you all the information about, you know, when we're coming on next and all the things. So, Go ahead and shoot that subscribe button. We appreciate that very much.
00:20:48
Speaker 3: All right.
00:20:48
Speaker 2: Much more to come here on Daughters Territory. How about On Deck presented by the Fox One app?
00:20:59
Speaker 1: We've got a game to look at. We've got a game two to look at, Alana. And you guys know this whole series is going to be on Fox. We'll talk more about that coming up in a little bit. Game two tomorrow, 5 p.m. Pacific time. On FS1, we know Blake Snell gets the ball for the Dodgers for Game 2. It's on FS1. It is Game 2. He gets the ball for Game 2. We don't know.
00:21:22
Speaker 3: You said it right.
00:21:24
Speaker 1: I don't pay attention to myself. Who would do that?
00:21:26
Speaker 3: Nobody does.
00:21:29
Speaker 1: As much as this is a conversation, a pretty big conversation for fans right now, more so why is Yamamoto not getting Game 2 or even Game 1? I do not hate. We've said this for a while. There's no right answer. There's no wrong answer when it comes to pitches in the series and what order the one, two, three pitches in the series. And Blake Snell gets the ball tomorrow. You like it. You hate it. How do you feel about it?
00:21:55
Speaker 3: I'm okay with it.
00:21:56
Speaker 2: I don't think that it matters if Chris Sale goes or not. If I'm the Braves, I save Chris Sale to Game 3. I don't run him out there tomorrow because tomorrow is not a must-win game. Obviously, Game 3 would be a must-win game if the Dodgers win Game 2. But I love Blake Snell. He has a great postseason record. Remember, I highly, highly believe the Dodgers won. the 2020 World Series because Kevin Cash pulled Blake Snell. We couldn't do anything against him in 2020 when the team was in Texas, in the bubble during COVID, all the things.
00:22:28
Speaker 3: But I love him in game two. He's a dog on the mound. He's healthy.
00:22:32
Speaker 2: He obviously missed a lot of time this year, but this is what this team is built for. The Los Angeles Dodgers are not built for the regular season. They always do well in the regular season, but it's the postseason in which this team was built for. And Blake Snell wasn't needed in the regular season. They won a hundred games, you know? Uh, so this is good. I like him in game two. I love Yama in game three. I mean, that would be on the road, right?
00:22:56
Speaker 3: Uh, yeah.
00:22:57
Speaker 2: So that would Atlanta, which I don't necessarily love that, but whatever. Um, I'm fine with Snell. I'm fine with it.
00:23:05
Speaker 3: I love it.
00:23:06
Speaker 2: I don't see it as a disrespect to Yamamoto. I'm just kind of commenting on what EBVH8WG said. Appreciate the comments, guys.
00:23:14
Speaker 3: Love the discussion.
00:23:15
Speaker 2: Doyers disrespected Yamamoto bad. He's your ace and saved your ass in 2025.
00:23:20
Speaker 3: And this is how you treat... I don't see it that way.
00:23:22
Speaker 2: I just see it as a matchup thing. Obviously, I like backing the lefties up against one another. Tarek Skubal, Blake Snell, plus their boys now. I feel like If you didn't start Blake Snell, he'd cry.
00:23:32
Speaker 3: No, I'm kidding.
00:23:34
Speaker 2: So I don't mind it. I don't think Yama feels disrespected. I think Yama is a team player. He's one of 26. He's the World Series MVP. And whenever you throw him out there, he's going.
00:23:46
Speaker 3: To do the job.
00:23:47
Speaker 2: And what I love the most about him, and I'm not trying to jinx him, is the man posts every single time.
00:23:52
Speaker 3: He's healthy.
00:23:53
Speaker 2: And he shoves, and you don't have to worry about him missing time. So I like this, and I like the fact that we don't know who's going tomorrow. That means that they're struggling. They're struggling with their rotation. They don't know who's going tomorrow.
00:24:06
Speaker 1: They don't. We can look here on this particular asset I'm throwing up on the screen here. Yeah, it's a TBD. We're talking about a TBD in NLDS game two. That's what I'm talking about.
00:24:20
Speaker 2: That's so insane that you don't– you're so– broken, I guess, for lack of a better phrase, because Atlanta is a good team. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but you're so disjointed on how you got into the postseason that you're not even sure who the best option is when it's just game two of the NLDS because you had to play in the wild card series. And, you know, you didn't address your rotation stuff. So you had to use sale or excuse me, your bullpen stuff. So you had to use sale coming out of the bullpen, even though a lot of people said why it wasn't necessarily a good idea, but yeah, Listen, I love it. I love Snell against– I'll take Snell against all TBDs.
00:24:56
Speaker 1: Well, definitely. He is also– it's worth reminding everybody, a two-time Cy Young Award winner. And when he was on the mound outside of his first game back or his first start this year, when he was on the mound for this team this year, he was fantastic. And he was somebody I was arguing could and should start game one. Scooble, I wouldn't say scuffled down the stretch, but he wasn't the Tarek Scooble we were expecting. down the stretch before he locked it in and, of course, locked it in game one. There is no right answer. Again, there is no wrong answer. But you feel real good about where this team is. And if you guys want to watch that game again, it's going to be on with our friends at Fox 1. MLB on Fox is streaming on Fox 1. It's going to be on FS1 tomorrow, the postseason here. And we have all your front row seats to the wireless walk-off. Lights out pitching like we saw today. And clutch plays all playoffs long. Stream each NLDS and NLCS game and then your 2026 World Series live on Fox One at home or on the go, live or on demand. Never miss a moment. Stream now. Start your Fox One. Fox One three-day. Too many numbers altogether. Fox One three-day for each aisle at foxone.com. A couple more little odds and ends to button up. Quickly talk about the roster situation. DePaula... and Heson Kim, Josue de Paula, Heson Kim on Alex Call, Alex Freeland off. And in the bullpen, Edgardo Henriquez returns. We already mentioned Brock Stewart made it. Yeah, on his birthday. On his birthday. Happy birthday, beef. And then no Sheehan, no Robo, and no Jack Dreyer. Any feelings about that?
00:26:37
Speaker 2: I mean, Sheehan, I'm not surprised because he, you know, we didn't need him in the starting rotation, and he's not necessarily a guy that's going to be adept yet coming out of the bullpen, I don't think.
00:26:46
Speaker 3: I mean, that's not. that's not his strength. Right.
00:26:48
Speaker 2: So I'm not surprised there does not mean he won't be on in a seven game series. I think you can definitely see more pictures in a seven game series than obviously, uh, in a five game series, Jack dryer, same reason, not necessarily surprised about that. Super stoked that Henriquez is back. He's my reliever of the year.
00:27:04
Speaker 3: I don't care.
00:27:05
Speaker 2: Um, he's just been so tremendous and very underrated. Uh, has some cam makes sense. I guess, uh, I don't know. I mean, I feel badly for Alex Cole because he was on the roster the entire season.
00:27:17
Speaker 1: He knows.
00:27:18
Speaker 3: But, you know, yeah.
00:27:20
Speaker 2: And also Ed McCollough, we know because he's been giving us really good at-bats, the energy, those types of things. So, I mean, again, you're going to piss off somebody. But hopefully these guys understand that they are a part of the big picture overall. And there will be... You know, they're part of the quest to get to three, but you only can take 26 guys. And with the depth that the Dodgers have and the luxury that they have, I get it. There's nothing that was like, oh, my God, you know, how egregious.
00:27:49
Speaker 1: We had a feeling of what the 26 guys would look like. But as this team maintains, even from day one at spring training, It's a lot more than 26 guys on the everyday roster. It's a lot more than the 40 men on the 40-man roster. A lot more than the 60-plus people they have in that room when they enter spring training. And the Dodgers do a fantastic job of preaching that, as you very well know, having been a part of so many of those early Camelback Ranch meetings there. So I don't think anybody's upset. I think Alex call is happy to be there. Happy to be a part of the team in some capacity, hanging out with the boys. He still gets to eat good. He still gets to drink good along the way.
00:28:31
Speaker 2: And he still gets a ring and you know, he understands his role. I mean, he's a, he's a role player. He's not a superstar. He understands that front of the show. He's been on the show. Great guy to talk to. Great guy to, you know, kind of pick his brain. It, it, Listen, like I said, I say listen way too much. There's 26 spots, and that is it. He understands that his role is not in the NLDS, does not mean the CS and World Series are not on the table. We just don't know yet. It depends on who we match up against and what the needs are, health, all the things. So a couple of other super, not super chats, but chats I wanted to get to here.
00:29:06
Speaker 1: We do have another one from Nancy Brown. Oh, Nancy Brown. Sorry, wrong one. There we go. There's from Nancy Brown.
00:29:13
Speaker 3: There we go. Yes, they did. The boys came to play. Love the focus. Love the grit. One and one. Ten to go. Let's do this. LFG, I love you. Oh, she got a softball in there too, Nancy Brown. All right. So a couple of things in here. So C, Cousinism.
00:29:25
Speaker 2: I don't know how to say that. I'm probably saying it wrong. Wanted to know what wine I was drinking.
00:29:30
Speaker 3: It's garbage. It's like Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. It's nothing exciting. Also wanted to know who is in the.
00:29:38
Speaker 2: Nobody asked about my twisted teeth.
00:29:40
Speaker 3: How about Twisted Teeth sponsor us, for God's sake.
00:29:44
Speaker 2: Also wanted to know who is in the picture with me.
00:29:47
Speaker 3: Come on, man. That's the late, great Vin Scully. My man.
00:29:51
Speaker 2: The best guy in the whole world. So that's who's there. That's who's there.
00:29:56
Speaker 1: Did you see? I think it was yesterday. Ten years ago. Ten years ago.
00:29:59
Speaker 2: He said goodbye for the last time on the broadcast.
00:30:04
Speaker 1: It still got dusty in the room again.
00:30:06
Speaker 3: Ten years is insane to think. Yeah.
00:30:10
Speaker 1: After 67 years in the booth.
00:30:12
Speaker 3: After 67 years, yeah.
00:30:15
Speaker 1: Obviously, your relationship was a lot different there with Vin.
00:30:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, but you grew up with him. I didn't have that opportunity. I didn't grow up in Southern California.
00:30:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, with us.
00:30:25
Speaker 2: Special relationship with him.
00:30:27
Speaker 1: What made Vince so great was that he was family. He was a friend. Over the summer, you spent each night hanging out with your friend, Vince Scully, who was going to tell you about what's going on in the game and tell you stories about these people, these players. Obviously, this booth we have now is fantastic. I love Joe Davis. I love Steven Nelson. For sure. To hear one more Vince Scully game. We talked recently about the old Nomar 4-plus-1 game and all of that. Hearing Vinny call that and even getting some of the Charlie Steiner calling there is still like, oh, I miss you, Vin. We all miss Vin. Final two things before we get out. By the way, my buddies are over live on All Dodgers. I'm going to join there. We'll keep the conversation going and all of that kind of stuff. But you knew it was coming, Riz. People saying Dodger Stadium was so empty. It was fucking hot. And a lot of people were under the concourse.
00:31:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, it was 100 degrees.
00:31:28
Speaker 2: You know, Dodger fans have always, for years and years and years, have been said to not show up until late.
00:31:37
Speaker 3: They leave early, all the things. I was a little surprised at the empty seats. I get it.
00:31:41
Speaker 2: It is 100 and something degrees. But I will say this, too. It wasn't because ticket prices were high. If you looked on SeatGeek, the Dodgers, the NLDS, had some of the best pricing. And let me say this, too, about the Dodgers organization, because I know everybody wants to talk about how much tickets are and this, that, and the other, and I get that. But the Dodgers, to their credit, did what they could. They couldn't control the weather. They didn't choose the 1 p.m. Pacific start time, okay?
00:32:10
Speaker 3: They did not.
00:32:11
Speaker 2: So they handed out water to every single person that came into the game, free water. So good for them. They didn't have to do that. I understand they should do that, but a lot of teams do not.
00:32:23
Speaker 3: So it's hot. I get it. But you know what?
00:32:25
Speaker 2: No excuses tomorrow, guys, okay? We've got a 5 p.m. start, an 8 p.m. start on the East Coast. Let's get there.
00:32:32
Speaker 3: Let's fill the stadium. Let's show the boys that we appreciate them and take game two. And then it's just one more.
00:32:39
Speaker 1: One more. The last thing I want to say quickly. I'm going to talk shit about the Dodgers about this. $ 65 to park.
00:32:47
Speaker 3: No.
00:32:48
Speaker 1: Just no, okay?
00:32:49
Speaker 3: No.
00:32:50
Speaker 1: That's dumb.
00:32:51
Speaker 3: I know.
00:32:51
Speaker 1: While gas is, you know, $ 6, $ 7 a gallon right now.
00:32:56
Speaker 2: I saw over $ 7 today for a gallon of gas. And it's starting to, like, it's really bad here, too. Not California bad, but in Massachusetts it's starting. Like, we're up to, like, $ 6. Like, for here, that's like, what? But anyway, yeah, that's insane pricing. So do it like in the old days when you went to the drive-thru and you put 79 people in your trunk and tried to get in.
00:33:16
Speaker 3: That's the way that you can save some money.
00:33:19
Speaker 1: They'll know. It might drive you across the scale to see who's in there. But, guys, we appreciate you hanging out with us. Subscribe again if you haven't done it. Hit the thumbs up. Share with friends, all that kind of stuff. We'll be back tomorrow postgame. Dodgers be up 2-0 in the series.
00:33:31
Speaker 3: Bye, guys. We'll see you then.
