ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Episode Title: When disaster strikes, Nirvana doesn’t wait: Rebuilding Nepal
In this inspiring episode of Disaster Diaries, hosts Andy Kruger and Evan sit down with Nirvana Chaudhary, a prominent Nepalese business leader and philanthropist, to explore how Nepal is confronting devastating natural disasters—and pioneering a faster, more effective approach to recovery.
Against the backdrop of catastrophic Himalayan flooding and accelerating climate threats, Nirvana shares firsthand experiences of mobilizing private-sector resources to deliver immediate relief, rebuild communities, and restore hope. From rebuilding schools and providing emergency shelter to leveraging corporate supply chains, technology, and partnerships, his approach demonstrates the extraordinary impact businesses can have when they act with purpose.
The conversation goes beyond emergency response to examine the importance of education, community resilience, entrepreneurship, and collaboration between government and private industry. Nirvana challenges traditional philanthropy, encouraging companies to contribute their expertise, products, and infrastructure—not just financial donations.
At its heart, this episode is a powerful reminder that disaster recovery isn't simply about rebuilding what was lost. It's about empowering communities, restoring opportunity, and recognizing that meaningful change begins with action.
