00:00:01
Speaker 1: Now back to Dirty Work with Copes and Depop on 104.5 FM and 680 AM.
00:00:07
Speaker 2: The Sports Leader.
00:00:11
Speaker 3: Dirty Work on a Friday evening. Adam Copeland, Depop, Danny Dunn hanging out with you. Our next guest joins us on the UMA Guest Line, as all guests do. And, of course, on the KMBR and The Sports Leader YouTube channel, it's my man Larry Kruger and Krug. It's a surprise to me, too, Krug. You are sponsored by Freedman's Appliance, proudly serving all of Northern California with a wide selection of luxury appliances. Visit them in Pleasant Hill to see the Freedman's difference. It's Seahawks week. How you doing, Krug? What's going on, bro? What's up, Krug? Perhaps the greatest showroom in the country. Oh, it's nice. There you go.
00:00:49
Speaker 1: It is.
00:00:49
Speaker 3: It's phenomenal.
00:00:50
Speaker 4: I bought my fridge from them. So, yes, I'm a big Freedman's Appliance guy. They're top-notch.
00:00:56
Speaker 3: They have great food, too. When they put on their shows, their sales are phenomenal, dude. Krug, looking at Sunday's game against Seattle, man, what's your feel? Last week, I was really, really confident going into Denver, and I always kind of wait to Wednesday to see how I feel in the next week to see, like, what's the vibe of the team? What's the health like? How am I feeling? I'm feeling pretty good this week, but I'm feeling good in, like, a 55-45% way.
00:01:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, this is going to be a battle, man. I mean, this is this is it. This is as good as it gets. I mean, Niners Seahawks is going to be super physical. You know, you got the number one offense. You got the number one defense. And let's let's get it on. And I think, you know, I get the feeling, though, the Niners, you know, Christian McCaffrey, I guess, talked to the team today after practice and said, hey, look, it's week five. Let's not make this game more than it needs to be. But I think this game means more to the 49ers than it does to the Seahawks. I heard Ernest Jones. He's like, yeah, it's just another game. It's week five. We got a lot of big games coming up.
00:01:56
Speaker 3: I don't know.
00:01:56
Speaker 4: I mean, to me, this is big because you've gotten slapped around 54-9 by these guys the last two times. And it's time to step up and announce your presence in this thing. If you lose another game and if it's in any way one-sided, I think they stay in your head the rest of the year. So I think this is a big moment for the 49ers to kind of, it's not just a litmus test to find out where they're at. I think it's, I think it's, you know, time to deliver, you know, a big blow to the Seahawks. So I think I do feel good about their chances this weekend.
00:02:30
Speaker 5: Krug, obviously the Niners missed Fred Warner last time in these two matchups where Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet ran all over him. So what do you make of the matchup this time with the Seattle running game against the Niners defense?
00:02:40
Speaker 3: Well, it's interesting.
00:02:41
Speaker 4: I don't think Seattle's got the back they necessarily want. They like to bounce it outside and get to the edges, and they've got a guy that's really 225 pounds and really doesn't get to the edges. So it'll be interesting to see if Brian Fleury tries to make Emmanuel Wilson adapt to him or if Fleury runs it more inside. But yeah, and Fleury's a first-time play caller. A lot of his stuff is the Niners stuff. They use the fullback, so... I think the Niners are going to do a better job of establishing their run than the Seahawks are. I think the 49ers have found some good things the last couple weeks. Naquan Jones, Greenlaw, some of the way these guys up front are starting to play against the run I think has improved.
00:03:27
Speaker 3: So I think they're ready for Wilson. Talking to Larry Kruger on the UMA guest line. Kruger, of the three offensive skill position players in Mike Evans, George Kittle, and Debo Samuel, who are not available to the Niners or weren't on the team the last time they played Seattle, of those three, who allows Kyle Shanahan to do the most in this game that will make this offense look different against Seattle?
00:03:49
Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I think Evans brings a ton of confidence into this game. Last time he was there in Seattle, he played a huge game. He had 18 targets and almost 200 yards and a couple of touchdowns, but it's Debo. That's that all, you know, just every time he sees Seattle, he steps up, he's got nine touchdowns and nine games against them. So I like Debo to be the guy. And also, you know, he's that versatile chess piece. And now you combine him with McCaffrey. You got two different guys there that you can, you know, that can give you that formational, you know, variety and versatility.
00:04:23
Speaker 3: And it's just, um, I think Debo looks prime for a big game.
00:04:27
Speaker 5: And Dre Greenlaw, we know how intense he was last week against the Denver Broncos.
00:04:31
Speaker 2: What does his return mean to a rivalry game like this?
00:04:34
Speaker 4: Well, I mean, he's just the most violent guy in the field. I don't think it's just his return. I think overall, I mean, when the Niners played up there last year, there was no Warner, no Debo, no Greenlaw, no Osa, no Evans, no McKell. I mean, several guys. So, I mean, I just, it's a, Shannon said it early in the week. He's like, They're a different team. We're a different team. It's a different scenario. But I think Greenlaw is, you know, he's a big part of shutting down Emmanuel Wilson and putting this in the game, putting the game, I should say, in the hands of Sam Darnold. And I think that's a big key because if Darnold has shown, except for last year in the playoffs, throughout his career, he turns it over.
00:05:16
Speaker 3: Larry, which team has the most to prove on Sunday?
00:05:19
Speaker 4: The Niners, clearly. I mean, and it's the Niners' offensive line. The Niners offensive line got gutted, and it's the Niners receiving core, I think, too. The Niners receiving core got no separation last time. And surprise, surprise, they changed all those guys out. I mean, it's like there's really nobody left from that receiving core. I mean, Demarcus Robinson's on the team, but they're going up there with five new receivers. But I think it's the offensive line. I mean, Byron Murphy and Leonard Williams are just too strong in the interior, or at least they were.
00:05:54
Speaker 3: Last year.
00:05:55
Speaker 4: And we'll find out if the 49ers can match up inside. They look better, but how much have they improved? Murphy goes to like this, you know, basically this one-legged thing where he goes to like a bended knee and he just anchors. He's almost impossible to move and uproot out of there. So there are two guys that are just awesome against double teams. And that's really been the problem. They go light boxes, but they got those two monsters in the middle and the Niners haven't been unable to run it. And I think how efficiently the Niners run it probably determines if they win.
00:06:28
Speaker 5: Last time, Renato Green was in Seattle. He was getting chewed out by Kyle on the sidelines. What have you made of his play this season, and what does he bring this matchup this time?
00:06:36
Speaker 4: It's been a really interesting year. I mean, beginning to the year, he had a great summer, right?
00:06:42
Speaker 3: Real cocky.
00:06:44
Speaker 4: I mean, when a corner's barking and talking a lot, I think that's a good thing because that's the nature of the beast.
00:06:49
Speaker 3: You've got to be cocky. You've got to have that belief. And he had a.
00:06:52
Speaker 4: Great summer and really looked good as a pass defender. OK, then the season starts. And I thought in the first couple of games when I watched the all 22 that his effort in the run against the run was pitiful, just pitiful. And then somebody got in this guy's ear because in that Arizona game, he had 11 tackles and he all of a sudden got super physical in the last two games.
00:07:16
Speaker 3: He's been this tackling monster. So I don't know. I haven't talked to the DB coach, but I.
00:07:21
Speaker 4: Almost guarantee you that he brought up the same things that I saw in those first couple weeks and was like, hey, this has got to be better. And Renardo has accepted the challenge, and he has been really good the last two weeks against the run.
00:07:36
Speaker 3: Krug, before we let you go, dude, and Krug's coming up with a Niner's Nightly at the top of the hour at 6 o'clock. You have a pretty good guest list tonight, don't you, Krug?
00:07:43
Speaker 1: Huh.
00:07:44
Speaker 3: I mean, I've got this guy that's so damn hard to book. It's unbelievable.
00:07:47
Speaker 4: I mean, it's just, you can't get this guy. This is like one of the toughest books in the biz. The great, the great Adam Copeland.
00:07:55
Speaker 3: Oh, dude. Toughest books in the biz. Toughest books, and that's what they call me. Adam, toughest book in the biz, Copeland. Dude, that's what they always refer to me as that. But before we let you go, crew, guys, something that I feel like, I know you've booked me. You and I are great. We're on great terms, me and you. But it seems like there's been some tension lately between you and Derek, and I think it stems- from something that happened behind the scenes the other days. We had Matt Barrows on. And Matt Barrows, we asked him because we love to talk about our snacks and our candy in the press box, right, what we're eating. And Barrows said that he likes the purple Jolly Ranchers. Says he likes to reach his hand into that candy jar and pull out and fish out the purple ones. And he says kind of like Winnie the Pooh, like Pooh Bear reaching in there. Yeah. So then Derek, I guess, on the air referred to him as Pooh Bear. like as a nickname to Mayoko and Danny told us behind the scenes, you were none too pleased. You were not happy with Derek referring to Matt Barrows as Pooh Bear. Would you like to comment?
00:08:46
Speaker 4: I can neither confirm nor deny, but I, but I will say I'm jealous because my hand's too bulky.
00:08:52
Speaker 3: I can't get it in there.
00:08:54
Speaker 4: I I've tried for the cherry ring. You know, I'm going to SI so that I got to get the cherry jolly ranchers. So they used to call us the cherries, but anyway, anyway, you know, but I can't get my hand in there.
00:09:05
Speaker 3: I get, too big of a mitt to get in there. Yeah, your Barrow's got the boyish hands. He can get in there, dude.
00:09:13
Speaker 4: Barrow's would be a much better dentist or orthodontist than I would be.
00:09:18
Speaker 3: You don't want Krug's paws around your face, dude. Give me a root canal, dude. Too big of some mitts for a root canal. It's like that woman in Seinfeld.
00:09:26
Speaker 4: Remember?
00:09:27
Speaker 2: Oh, man hands.
00:09:28
Speaker 1: Man hands.
00:09:29
Speaker 3: Man hands.
00:09:29
Speaker 2: She's cracking open beers and lobsters. Yeah, she was tough.
00:09:33
Speaker 3: They were big. They were clumsy, if I remember. That's the scene. I keep zooming in on her hands, and it's clearly like a man's hands cracking open the big lobster. Yeah. The lobster and the crab leg. Great episode. Clearly man's hands. Epic, epic episode. Well, Krug, I'll talk to you in about an hour, and Niners Nightly at 6 o'clock. We'll catch you later, bro.
00:09:52
Speaker 4: Later, Krug.
00:09:53
Speaker 3: Exactly.
00:09:53
Speaker 4: All the questions you ask me, I will then return and ask you the exact same questions.
00:09:57
Speaker 3: We'll see what I have to say. If I can remember them. 620, I don't know, 620-ish. All right, talk to you later, bro. See you, guys. Good deal. All right, we got to take a quick break. Adam Copeland, Derek Papa, Danny Dunn with you. This guy has become a, I wouldn't say a staple on our show, but he pops up periodically. And he's, I wouldn't even say like he's taken anybody by storm. Like he's not like Ramone.
00:10:17
Speaker 2: No, not like that.
00:10:18
Speaker 3: But he's been requested, and so he's, I guess, returned.
00:10:21
Speaker 1: Mr.
00:10:21
Speaker 3: KNBR. He's been known to give a top five list. He's done top five stadium meets, top five stadium jams. He might have just done top five stadiums. I'm not really sure what his obsession is with stadiums. He likes it. And by the way, there wasn't any rhyme or reason for any of it. And then the other thing he did was he came to our annual anniversary classic last year.
00:10:39
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:10:39
Speaker 3: The end of the year show. We do it every year.
00:10:41
Speaker 5: Of course.
00:10:42
Speaker 2: As is tradition.
00:10:43
Speaker 3: As is tradition. And he gave me his top five moments of Dirty Work of the Year. And it was like one random interview we did... three months prior. Then it was something from, like, the week before. Then it was something from, like, the hour before on the show. Then there was something from the segment before. And then he actually, his number one moment was, like, his intro into that moment.
00:11:01
Speaker 2: Well, you don't need to question Mr.
00:11:03
Speaker 5: KMBR. And by the way, I make no disrespect to Matt Barrows. You know, he was just a poo bear getting the candy out.
00:11:08
Speaker 3: Self-proclaimed.
00:11:08
Speaker 5: But if there is one poo bear here at the station, it would be Mr. KMBR because he is known to wear a shirt but no pants.
00:11:14
Speaker 3: Well, I would say Mr. KMBR, but also don't forget about Danny as Winnie the Pooh, blood and honey, maybe for Halloween.
00:11:20
Speaker 5: Do you like that costume idea, Dan, more than Lydia from Beetlejuice or Clayface? I gave you a good Clayface idea. It's going to cost you a couple grand, but it's a good idea.
00:11:29
Speaker 3: I like Pooh more than any of your suggestions. We'll leave it there. Dirty work on a Friday. Wow.
00:11:35
Speaker 2: The animosity in your voice there.
00:11:37
Speaker 3: Good Lord. Don't forget Larry Krugbear, too.
00:11:40
Speaker 2: Don't call him that. He doesn't like that.
00:11:41
Speaker 3: That's no Billadelphia. Larry Krugbear? That's no Billadelphia. Dirty work on a Friday.
00:11:46
Speaker 1: Mr.
00:11:47
Speaker 3: KNBR, his triumphant, lackluster, you decide, return is next. Whimsical. Yeah, whimsical for sure on the Sports Leader.
00:11:57
Speaker 1: You found Dirty Work with Adam Copeland and Derek Papa, where no job is too dirty on KNBR, the Sports Leader.
00:12:08
Speaker 3: Dirty work on a Friday evening. Almost there. If you're still working, keep those feet moving. Stay in bounds. Get up slow. 540 on a Friday night.
00:12:16
Speaker 5: We're almost there, man. We're almost there for a bam. Big-ass matchup on Sunday.
00:12:19
Speaker 3: Big-ass matchup, as Tim Ryan called it. 90 Seahawks Sunday, 125 kick, 10 a.m. pregame, right here on The Sports Leader. Yeah. That'll be a big one.
00:12:27
Speaker 2: Going dire straights here?
00:12:28
Speaker 3: Talk about it all next week. Do you remember earlier in the show? I remember everything, Copes.
00:12:33
Speaker 4: Okay.
00:12:33
Speaker 3: All right, elephant.
00:12:37
Speaker 2: What are you saying?
00:12:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, do you remember whose birthday it is? Today?
00:12:41
Speaker 2: Yeah. It's... Real name, not capital.
00:12:45
Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Hold on. I don't want you to give no characters. Oh, come on.
00:12:48
Speaker 2: I can't say? No characters. J. Peter a bit.
00:12:51
Speaker 1: Nope.
00:12:51
Speaker 2: I can't remember the actor's name.
00:12:52
Speaker 3: John O'Hurley.
00:12:53
Speaker 2: No one remembers his real name.
00:12:55
Speaker 3: I do, for his birthday.
00:12:55
Speaker 2: He's still with us, though, right?
00:12:56
Speaker 3: If you win that Tony's Pizza gift card, then you can celebrate it. And earlier I told you how to win the Tony's Pizza gift card. I said, later I'll give you a cue to call.
00:13:04
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:13:04
Speaker 3: If you're caller 10 to the studio at 415-896-KMBR, you win a $ 50 Tony's Pizza gift card.
00:13:08
Speaker 2: I remember you saying that.
00:13:09
Speaker 3: I said that earlier. Now is later.
00:13:12
Speaker 2: So it's now.
00:13:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, this is the cue to call. Caller 10 to the studio, 415-896-KMBR. Caller 10 wins a $ 50 gift card. Gift card to Tony's Pizza Napolitana. It's furnished by Tony's Pizza. You can find the rules at thesportsleader.com. I told you you'd know what it was. That was me saying it.
00:13:27
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:13:27
Speaker 3: All right. So this next character or guest, he's been a part of the show, I.
00:13:32
Speaker 2: Guess, for the last— He's quite a character.
00:13:34
Speaker 3: It's almost been two years on the show coming up.
00:13:35
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:13:36
Speaker 3: We're months away from the two-year anniversary of the show. And we'll get the annual anniversary classic to you in December.
00:13:40
Speaker 2: The people want it.
00:13:41
Speaker 3: If we make it through November. Um, who knows? Who knows?
00:13:44
Speaker 2: You never know these days.
00:13:45
Speaker 3: It's a long way, dude. It's a long way. Next week's a long way.
00:13:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd say so. Every show's a long way.
00:13:49
Speaker 3: Well, Mr. KNBR is a character who has become somewhat of a stapler, a regular on the show. He shows up with, for whatever reason, I'm not ever really sure what reason he's here. I don't ever really know what we're doing, but I also don't really know why he hasn't opened, but we'll just get to it here. Welcome back, Mr. KNBR.
00:14:10
Speaker 1: Mr.
00:14:11
Speaker 4: KVR's top five fleet week tradition.
00:14:15
Speaker 2: You can lose your inhibition with Captain KVR.
00:14:26
Speaker 3: Greetings, sporting enthusiasts of the bay.
00:14:28
Speaker 6: It's that time of year again when San Francisco, the shining city by the bay, revels in maritime merriment. This week, the citizens of this fine city, both young and old, put their best foot forward to welcome our proudest sons and daughters of the most powerful fighting brigade in the world, the U.S.
00:14:43
Speaker 3: Military. That's right, leaderheads, it's Fleet Week. The U.S.
00:14:47
Speaker 6: Navy seamen are steaming through the Golden Gate and into the Misty Bay, tired and weary from braving the hostile seas of the Pacific Theater, but eager for some well-deserved R & R.
00:14:57
Speaker 3: Come on, coach. And I, Mr.
00:14:59
Speaker 6: K.N.B.R., the proud captain of this vessel we call the USS Sports Leader, present to the Dirty Milk Duo and its loyal listeners my top five Fleet Week spectacles and attractions for you to enjoy this beautiful weekend.
00:15:11
Speaker 3: Hold on.
00:15:12
Speaker 2: So we're doing top five Fleet Week attractions.
00:15:14
Speaker 3: Top five Fleet Week attractions. That's right, Derek. Is he calling from the 40s? What is happening?
00:15:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's some kind of like hot tub time machine situation. Just go with it, Copes.
00:15:23
Speaker 6: It's 1941, December 8th. You a fan of that year, Copes?
00:15:29
Speaker 3: I mean, me personally, I don't think I would have been allowed in a lot of the places that you guys would have been hanging, so I'm not sure we'd be cool. Let's kick it off with number five, Danny. All right, let's just start it off here. Okay. What was that, Ghost?
00:15:42
Speaker 2: Number five.
00:15:43
Speaker 3: Number five. Whatever.
00:15:44
Speaker 1: Go ahead.
00:15:44
Speaker 3: I don't know what this has to do with anything. Number five.
00:15:47
Speaker 6: Frequent the city's many fine drinking establishments. Get stinking drunk and do the jitterbug with some able semen down by the port. Sample exotic concoctions of the South Pacific at the Tonga Room. Be careful not to get Shanghai'd at Shanghai Kelly's. Indulge in bizarre spices and potions from the Orient in Chinatown. Hit the booming jazz clubs of the Fillmore. And what better way to spend Uncle Sam's per diem than by oogling the floozies at the Condor Gentleman's Club.
00:16:17
Speaker 3: The oldest hoot show on the Marbury Coast. I still don't understand why this time around he's in the 40s or whatever. Because it's sleep week, folks.
00:16:33
Speaker 2: There is no time frame for Mr.
00:16:35
Speaker 4: KMBR.
00:16:35
Speaker 3: But it's Flea Week right now. He doesn't exist in this time.
00:16:38
Speaker 2: He's able to go in different, you know.
00:16:40
Speaker 3: I exist in many dimensions, Copes.
00:16:41
Speaker 2: Exactly, yes.
00:16:43
Speaker 3: Come on, man.
00:16:43
Speaker 2: It's all in the notes. You didn't get the notes?
00:16:45
Speaker 3: I may even be a figment of your imagination. No, I didn't get notes. You guys have said notes before that you had about Mr.
00:16:50
Speaker 1: KMBR.
00:16:50
Speaker 2: I literally have notes right here.
00:16:52
Speaker 3: So that was number... Hold on. Number five was just drink? Yeah, drink. And check out Spices from Chinatown?
00:16:59
Speaker 5: Or go to the Condor Club, yeah.
00:17:00
Speaker 6: Or Shanghai Kelly's, but be careful not to get Shanghai'd.
00:17:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. We heard you, Mr. KBR. We got that one the first time.
00:17:08
Speaker 2: All right, just hurry up.
00:17:10
Speaker 3: Get to number four. Number four. doing back the attack.
00:17:19
Speaker 6: Invest in war bonds take a break from the festivities and stroll down to one of the city's several post offices or savings and loans to purchase war bonds remember every bond.
00:17:29
Speaker 3: Purchase brings us one step closer to.
00:17:30
Speaker 6: Victory they're giving their lives are you investing your money buy a bond beat the axis.
00:17:37
Speaker 2: That's a good point.
00:17:38
Speaker 3: And beat the ISIS.
00:17:39
Speaker 2: Are we doing enough?
00:17:40
Speaker 3: That's the number four Fleet Week attraction.
00:17:42
Speaker 2: Are we doing enough to beat the ISIS?
00:17:46
Speaker 3: First attraction is get drunk and go to a strip club.
00:17:49
Speaker 2: And then the fourth one is we beat the ISIS.
00:17:52
Speaker 3: Is buy Warbonds. Invest in Warbonds.
00:17:58
Speaker 2: What's number three?
00:17:58
Speaker 3: Invest in our boys, guys. I got it. Go to number three. Let's go to number three, Danny. Number three.
00:18:09
Speaker 6: Kiss a sailor for good luck. Fighting for Uncle Sam in the distant reaches of the Pacific can make a blue jacket lonely. A nice wet peck from the familiar lips of a red-blooded American is sure to make our boys feel right at home. Have a newsman capture the smooch on celluloid and end up on the cover of a V-Day edition of Life magazine.
00:18:31
Speaker 3: Number three is just kiss a sailor?
00:18:35
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:18:35
Speaker 3: Kiss a sailor for good luck. Is that a thing? They'll be frequenting Broadway, don't you know, Copes? That's not a thing, right? No, it is. It's just a sailor for good luck?
00:18:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was on the cover of Life Magazine, like Mr. Cambier just said.
00:18:46
Speaker 3: Oh, my God, dude. This is so stupid. I have no idea. All right, number two. The number two Fleet Week attraction.
00:18:55
Speaker 2: Number two.
00:18:58
Speaker 6: Put on a dress, a blonde wig, and red lipstick like Bugs Bunny and whistle at sailors in an attempt to woo them back to your apartment for a magical night together.
00:19:06
Speaker 3: Right, sir.
00:19:07
Speaker 6: While he's sleeping in the night, steal his uniform and head back to Shanghai Kelly's. Now dressed as a naval officer in stolen valor, tell the gals you received a purple heart for getting bombed in the Strait of Hormuz.
00:19:20
Speaker 3: They'll be swooning, don't you know? Drop off the note. What's that, Copes? Cut it, Danny. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Number two is commit stolen valor. And how does Mr. Cambiar know about what's happening in Hormuz if he's in the 40s and he's telling us to buy or invest in war bonds?
00:19:41
Speaker 1: Mr.
00:19:41
Speaker 3: Cambiar travels across all timelines. It's a flat circle, don't you know? So why does the music stop? It's back. Music's back up, so. are we done with number two? So, hold on.
00:19:51
Speaker 2: You're saying that you're condoning people to dress up as... What was it again?
00:19:56
Speaker 3: He said dress up as a... Get a wig and lipstick like Bugs Bunny. Like Bugs Bunny. Woo a sailor back to your apartment. Of course, yes.
00:20:02
Speaker 2: Have a good time.
00:20:02
Speaker 3: And then when he's asleep, steal his uniform. Stolen valor.
00:20:05
Speaker 2: I see, okay.
00:20:06
Speaker 3: And then go back to Shanghai Kelly's... The gals won't know the difference, Gopes.
00:20:10
Speaker 2: This is common during Fleet Week.
00:20:11
Speaker 3: I'm not down with this one. It's a classic tradition. I don't endorse this one. And now number one. What's your number one attraction for Fleet Week? Number one. Number one.
00:20:24
Speaker 6: Watch the Blue Angels take the sky with death-defying maneuvers of aerial agility. It's the premier event here on this Fleet Week.
00:20:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, that was very straightforward.
00:20:33
Speaker 3: Actually, just watch the Blue Angels.
00:20:35
Speaker 1: Sunday.
00:20:36
Speaker 3: Yeah. I'll be watching the Niners probably. Taking the Seahawks myself.
00:20:40
Speaker 2: Well, obviously you're not invested in Fleet Week, like Mr. KMBR is.
00:20:43
Speaker 3: Well, no. I didn't know he was coming with these attractions, and I made no commitment to do any of the things that he said. There was no contractual obligation.
00:20:49
Speaker 2: It's kind of like the KMBR sports calendar, Copes.
00:20:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess so.
00:20:53
Speaker 6: Well, the Niners will be playing at Kezar Stadium, and after that, I'll be down to the marina to watch the Blue Angels.
00:21:00
Speaker 3: And this is the triumphant and or lackluster return of.
00:21:08
Speaker 3: Of Mr. Candy. Got your tongue, Copes? Yeah. Anything else you want to add before we get out of here?
00:21:13
Speaker 6: I'd love to say a big greetings to my biggest fan, young Mateo. One of the station's most loyal listeners.
00:21:20
Speaker 3: Hello, Mateo. Follow your dreams.
00:21:24
Speaker 2: And one day you could become Mr. KMBR as well.
00:21:26
Speaker 3: And that is the return of Mr. KMBR. As the 510 checks in and says, now this is hot crap. But then the text within a minute after it, 408 says, this is gold, I'm dying.
00:21:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, see, exactly.
00:21:43
Speaker 3: We'll take a quick break. He continues to divide the audience, Mr. KMBR.
00:21:46
Speaker 2: It's kind of like Digger, yeah.
00:21:47
Speaker 3: Enjoy it. Stop saying that. Let's go, San Francisco. That's a word that they may be using a lot around where Mr. KMBR is right now. It's like digger. Okay, that's enough. We'll take a break. When we come back, we'll put the show to bed.
00:22:01
Speaker 2: It's Dirty Work.
00:22:01
Speaker 3: It's Friday. It's hot crap, and it's on the Sports Leader.
00:22:10
Speaker 1: Time for Dirty Work to put the show to bed.
00:22:14
Speaker 3: Are you crazy?
00:22:15
Speaker 2: I don't need a bed.
00:22:17
Speaker 1: On The Sports Leader.
00:22:19
Speaker 3: Now you will go to sleep, or I will put you to sleep.
00:22:22
Speaker 2: I'm a fool to do your dirty work.
00:22:29
Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
00:22:32
Speaker 2: I don't want to do your dirty work.
00:22:37
Speaker 3: Starting to work on a Friday evening. Adam Copeland, Depop, Danny Dunn with you. Getting ready to put the show to bed on a Friday. Niner Seahawks Sunday. I've been telling you all day long and all week long, 125 kick from Seattle at Lumen Field. Niner's a chance to go 5-0, and if they do, they'll have basically a three-game lead with the tiebreak over Seattle, but the schedule does get more difficult. The updates today are the news of the day. Upton Stout is a true questionable for Sunday, whereas Nick Bosa... James Thompson Jr., Marquis Siegel, Kyle Juszczyk, all officially ruled out for this game. Michael Williams is listed as questionable, but will be activated. So we'll see if he gets a jersey and is good enough to go. If he's not, he just would not be active for the game. Ogbo Karankwo was cut today to make room back on the 53-man for Michael Williams, who would come off of PUP. And then the big news of the day, Kyle Shanahan yesterday told us, excuse me, Kyle Shanahan told us yesterday that Nick Bosa would be back within the next couple of weeks, he thought, hopefully before the bye. That was sort of the plan. And today, Nick Bosa spoke to Matt Maioco, and I think Matt's a pretty reliable source.
00:23:40
Speaker 2: I think so.
00:23:41
Speaker 3: And he told Matt Maioco that his plan was to be back for that Washington game, which is week six, Monday Night Football at Levi's Stadium next week.
00:23:47
Speaker 2: Sounds pretty promising.
00:23:48
Speaker 3: That sounds really good.
00:23:49
Speaker 5: And things are turning around right now for the defensive line, getting Michael Williams back for this game and possibly Nick Bosa next week.
00:23:54
Speaker 2: So getting the pass rush going now, Copes.
00:23:58
Speaker 3: So we got positive news on the Niners getting healthier and a huge game. On Sunday. Earlier in the show, it was during a break, and I wanted to save it for the year, and I got distracted, as I do when I come on back. There's so much to get to. Danny's always putting so much goddamn lacquer on this. He's always giving me so many pieces of paper on this thing, dude. I got a read-off.
00:24:16
Speaker 2: Oh, giving you reads?
00:24:17
Speaker 3: He's helping you get paid? Yeah, he's over here doing his job. God forbid. Doing his job and doing a bang-up job at it, too.
00:24:22
Speaker 2: He's doing a good job.
00:24:23
Speaker 3: Great job. Danny, you said during the break, because we were talking Saints and Saints play the Vikings this week.
00:24:30
Speaker 2: The undefeated Vikings.
00:24:31
Speaker 3: Danny's Saints, dude. And it's interesting because Tim Webb used to have the Falcons, Tim's cons.
00:24:35
Speaker 2: He loved the Falcons.
00:24:36
Speaker 3: It's interesting that we have two board ops that are so supportive of the NFC South.
00:24:39
Speaker 5: Well, why not?
00:24:40
Speaker 3: But, Danny, you had a bet you wanted to place on this game with Derrick?
00:24:43
Speaker 7: Yeah, I just wanted to prove that I could lose money on the Saints every week this season.
00:24:47
Speaker 3: There you go. A show bet?
00:24:48
Speaker 2: He sounds very confident.
00:24:49
Speaker 3: Well, week one you didn't lose on the Saints, did you? No, week one, no.
00:24:54
Speaker 7: I lost week two in the Survivor Pool, and then I lost last week because Atlanta beat the Brakes off.
00:25:01
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:25:01
Speaker 2: It was a nail-biter week one.
00:25:03
Speaker 5: He had the Lions in the survivor pool, and, of course, the Lions had a 21-0 lead.
00:25:06
Speaker 3: Just to be clear, you don't like the Saints, right?
00:25:09
Speaker 7: I don't like the Saints. I would take the Vikings in this game 10 times out of 10.
00:25:13
Speaker 1: Wow.
00:25:13
Speaker 3: 10 times out of 10, you would take the Vikings in this game.
00:25:16
Speaker 2: You're that confident, huh, Danny?
00:25:17
Speaker 3: No, really, Danny. Is this a hate wager?
00:25:20
Speaker 1: It is, yes.
00:25:21
Speaker 3: I just want to prove that the Saints can upset me every single week. So you would bet on the Vikings full well believing they're going to lose?
00:25:29
Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
00:25:32
Speaker 3: I want to put it to the test is what I want to do. You know the stove is hot. You know the stove's hot, and you know what's going to happen when you touch it, but you're like, yeah, I'm just going to prove it actually burned me. But we know it would burn.
00:25:42
Speaker 2: As I always tell Danny, it's a week-to-week league.
00:25:44
Speaker 3: The game is in New Orleans.
00:25:46
Speaker 1: Yes.
00:25:47
Speaker 3: Vikings are 4-0. Does it end this week with Danny riding the Vikings? Minnesota is a favorite in this game.
00:25:54
Speaker 5: Well, why wouldn't they be? Because the Saints are 1-3, and the Vikings are undefeated. Nevertheless, I am going to take the Saints to win.
00:26:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, I like the Saints in this game too, Danny. The last time I went against you guys on the Saints.
00:26:06
Speaker 5: But see, you're even having doubt in your own mind where you're like, see, I could lose a bet again because I bet against the Saints.
00:26:11
Speaker 3: If I were betting, I would take the points, yeah. Hey, I swayed you earlier on the Justin Jefferson thing. I was like, oh, come on.
00:26:17
Speaker 5: You did sway me on that one because I didn't get all the details in my head.
00:26:20
Speaker 2: And I was like, you know what?
00:26:21
Speaker 5: Justin Jefferson is going to end up with more yards than the first quarter yardage for the Saints here.
00:26:25
Speaker 2: But no, I'm taking the Saints.
00:26:26
Speaker 3: You're going to ride with Kyler Murray?
00:26:27
Speaker 1: Yep.
00:26:28
Speaker 3: He doesn't have a passing touchdown yet, I know.
00:26:30
Speaker 2: He does to Jordan Addison.
00:26:30
Speaker 3: Oh, he does. He got one last week. And Jefferson's supposed to return. Yeah. I don't know, man. So what's the bet, Danny? I don't know, Derek. What are you proposing? Oh, come on, Danny.
00:26:39
Speaker 2: You can't just put me on the spot here like this. This is the whole point.
00:26:41
Speaker 3: So do you want to lay the points or do you want Moneyline? Moneyline. You want Moneyline? You want Vikings against Saints straight up?
00:26:47
Speaker 2: Okay, I'll take the Saints.
00:26:49
Speaker 3: What do you want, Danny, if you win?
00:26:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you want out of this?
00:26:52
Speaker 3: What do you want, Derek?
00:26:52
Speaker 2: I don't know. I always like lunch. That's fine with me.
00:26:56
Speaker 3: All right. I'll have a bottle of whiskey.
00:26:59
Speaker 2: A bottle of whiskey?
00:26:59
Speaker 3: Danny wants a bottle of whiskey at his choosing. Good Lord. You want to up your ante, Derek, from a lunch?
00:27:06
Speaker 2: I'll think about it. I'll think about it.
00:27:07
Speaker 3: Till when? We're leaving. I don't know.
00:27:09
Speaker 2: I mean, put him on the spot here.
00:27:10
Speaker 3: I'll think about it. You can say two lunches.
00:27:13
Speaker 2: Fine, two lunches.
00:27:15
Speaker 3: Is that worth it? So if the Vikings win, Danny gets a bottle of whiskey of his choosing. And if Derek wins, he gets lunch twice. Wow. And to be claimed whenever he wants. Sure, okay.
00:27:26
Speaker 7: Should we put like a dollar amount to cap it off, like 30 bucks or something?
00:27:30
Speaker 2: For the whiskey?
00:27:31
Speaker 3: For 35, yeah, something. Just to equal it out.
00:27:33
Speaker 2: Nah, it's fine. Whatever, it doesn't matter.
00:27:35
Speaker 3: All right, I'll take a $ 200 bottle. Yeah.
00:27:42
Speaker 2: We'll see about that one.
00:27:43
Speaker 3: That's going to do it for Dirty Work on a Friday. We've got to get out of here. Mr. Cambiar has a note to self, I think, for us. So, Mr. Cambiar, you want to start us off with a little note to self as we put the show to bed?
00:27:54
Speaker 1: Mr.
00:27:55
Speaker 3: Gabriel's calling himself.
00:27:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, he needs it to lead him in.
00:27:57
Speaker 3: It's not stolen valor, if you believe it.
00:28:00
Speaker 2: That is true. All right, no, it's still stolen valor.
00:28:02
Speaker 3: Nope, it's still stolen valor. That's not true.
00:28:05
Speaker 2: All right, Danny.
00:28:06
Speaker 3: Then he's like, stay in school, Mateo. Why does he sound like Papa? You know what I mean? What do you got? Note to self. Note to self. Who does Seattle have to run on their team? Hang on.
00:28:17
Speaker 2: Absolutely not. Emmanuel Wolfe and who else?
00:28:21
Speaker 3: Their coach? Oh, there you go. Setting up sound.
00:28:23
Speaker 2: I got you.
00:28:24
Speaker 3: Oh, Danny. Oh, man.
00:28:26
Speaker 2: Note to self.
00:28:27
Speaker 3: Note to self.
00:28:28
Speaker 2: I probably should have put a dollar limit on that bottle of whiskey.
00:28:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. You probably should have, dude. You probably should have. Note to self. Note to self.
00:28:34
Speaker 1: As Mr.
00:28:35
Speaker 3: KMBR would tell you, support our boys. Where the hell did this show go? Dude, what a flame out on a Friday, dude.
00:28:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd say so.
00:28:42
Speaker 3: This is one of the worst flames we've had on a Friday.
00:28:45
Speaker 2: Hey, it's a Friday.
00:28:46
Speaker 3: We got to 530 after Krug. Everything was going well. We had a really good hit with Tim Ryan. where we played the Ditka sound for him and played the Twitter muscle sound back. Like, got a good laugh. And then Mr. KMBR on the show is just, I don't even know what we're doing for the evening.
00:28:59
Speaker 6: Would you wrap it up, Copes? I've got an appointment at Pia 39. I've got to go harass the sea lions.
00:29:03
Speaker 3: Turn the microphone off. Yeah, yeah. Get the hell out of here. I don't know what happened.
00:29:08
Speaker 2: As long as Mateo's happy.
00:29:09
Speaker 3: All right, one more. Note to self. Note to self. I'm going Ramon at 14. 14 Lagunitas is what I'm going at.
00:29:15
Speaker 1: Okay.
00:29:16
Speaker 3: Ramon and San Jose.
00:29:17
Speaker 2: You said that before, though, right?
00:29:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm just confirming that's where we're at.
00:29:19
Speaker 2: I got 15.
00:29:19
Speaker 3: You're at 15. All right, that's going to do it for Dirty Work on a Friday. Thanks to our guests today. Tim Ryan joined us. Larry Kruger joined us. He's coming up next at the top of the hour with Niners Nightly, and I will join him at the bottom of the hour in Niners Nightly. I'll be back with you Sunday morning, 10 a.m., for pregame with John Digginson, the Niners, and the Seahawks from Lumen Field. Derek, have a good weekend, man.
00:29:38
Speaker 2: Thanks, you too, man.
00:29:39
Speaker 3: Danny, see you next week. bro. And for anybody that needs to hear it, it gets easier every day. It gets a little easier. You just got to do it every day. That's the dirty work, but it does get easier. You're listening to KMBR and KMBR FM San Francisco. The Sports Leader at Cumulus Media Station, Larry Kruger, Niners Nightly starts right now. Have a good weekend, everybody. I'm a fool to do your dirty work, oh yeah.
00:29:59
Speaker 6: I don't want to do your dirty work no more.
