ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Conflict reporter/writer/cartoonist Ted Rall and political analyst Jamarl Thomas deprogram you from mainstream media every weekday at 9 AM ET.
Today we discuss:
• As the Gaza War begins its fourth year, Israel has lost. Israelis are reeling from new revelations in Israeli and U.S. media that the country had been repeatedly warned by its regional allies that Hamas was planning to attack. The war has lifting public debt. Lost output, reserve call-ups, and the departure of about 100,000 skilled Israelis have strained the economy. Hamas is not disarmed, and Israel’s diplomatic isolation has deepened: Palestinian recognitions, settlement sanctions, ICC warrants, arms-embargo pressure, and much less support in Europe and the U.S. What happens next?
• Former CIA officer David J. Rush pleaded guilty in Alexandria, Virginia, to one count of wire fraud that could bring up to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors said his schemes exceeded $193 million: a fake classified program used to buy about $145 million in Palm Beach luxury real estate, 298 gold bars costing the government more than $46 million, and roughly $1.8 million in unjustified charter flights. He also admitted disclosing a clandestine human source to a foreign official. Sentencing is set for January.
• The European Commission proposed measures to prepare the EU to take in countries such as Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine and Moldova in coming years. The proposals by the European Union’s executive body reflect a renewed interest among EU members in expanding the 27-nation bloc. The proposed reforms include a measure to allow other EU countries to suspend a new member’s voting rights during the first 15 years of membership if it stops adhering to the bloc’s values
• Trump’s plan to fence in Lafayette Park across the street from the White House would deter the free speech activities that have long defined the seven-acre park and make it easier for the administration to curb protests at will. It is the latest example of President Trump’s use of executive measures and legal maneuvers to clamp down on dissent.
• Christa Pike, who survived two doses of a lethal injection drug during a botched execution in Tennessee, is conscious and speaking. The prognosis remains unclear, they said, but lawyers expect a long recovery. Pike, 50, is believed to be the first person to have survived doses of a lethal injection drug.

TRANSCRIPT 🔗
00:00:11.220 --> 00:00:14.320
Good morning. It's Wednesday, October 7th, 2026,
00:00:14.460 --> 00:00:19.199
and this is DeProgram with Ted Rall and Jamarl
00:00:19.199 --> 00:00:22.820
Thomas. Today is, of course, the third anniversary
00:00:22.820 --> 00:00:27.980
of the Hamas raid into Israel proper on October
00:00:27.980 --> 00:00:32.780
7th, 2023. So as the Gaza war begins year four,
00:00:32.880 --> 00:00:35.920
I say it's pretty clear that Israel has lost.
00:00:36.719 --> 00:00:39.200
Netanyahu certainly is in deep trouble. We'll
00:00:39.200 --> 00:00:43.740
talk about that. Former CIA officer David J.
00:00:43.799 --> 00:00:48.859
Rush has pled guilty to a very minor, relatively
00:00:48.859 --> 00:00:52.579
minor count of wire fraud, but he apparently
00:00:52.579 --> 00:00:56.219
stole or was involved in the theft of close to
00:00:56.219 --> 00:01:00.719
$200 million. We'll get into that. The EU is
00:01:00.719 --> 00:01:03.740
proposing a series of measures to prepare the
00:01:03.740 --> 00:01:08.359
EU to accept countries like Ukraine and Montenegro,
00:01:08.359 --> 00:01:11.859
but they kind of want to make it more
00:01:11.859 --> 00:01:15.239
tentative, so not all members are equal. At least
00:01:15.239 --> 00:01:17.200
the new ones won't really be equal until they're
00:01:17.200 --> 00:01:19.480
in for at least 15 years. We'll talk about the
00:01:19.480 --> 00:01:22.420
future of the EU. Donald Trump wants to fence
00:01:22.420 --> 00:01:24.920
in the big park right across the street from
00:01:24.920 --> 00:01:27.840
the White House, where there have always been
00:01:27.840 --> 00:01:31.599
protests against the president. We'll talk
00:01:31.599 --> 00:01:34.379
about the implications there. Christa Pike, of
00:01:34.379 --> 00:01:39.000
course, the victim of two botched execution attempts
00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:43.019
in the state of Tennessee, is now still in hospital.
00:01:43.719 --> 00:01:46.700
She's the only person known to have survived,
00:01:46.920 --> 00:01:50.540
quote unquote, lethal injection drugs. Not that
00:01:50.540 --> 00:01:54.859
lethal in this case. She is up and talking, not
00:01:54.859 --> 00:01:56.980
up maybe, but she's talking, and they're expecting
00:01:56.980 --> 00:01:59.560
a long recovery. And the question is, what does
00:01:59.560 --> 00:02:03.540
this all mean for the death penalty, for her
00:02:03.540 --> 00:02:07.060
personally and so on? Please like, follow, and
00:02:07.060 --> 00:02:09.120
share the show. This is a two-hour show. We're
00:02:09.120 --> 00:02:12.189
here on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from
00:02:12.189 --> 00:02:16.610
9 a.m. until 11 a.m. This is one of those days.
00:02:16.770 --> 00:02:19.389
The second hour will be more focused on the questions
00:02:19.389 --> 00:02:21.789
and answers than the first hour, but we're always
00:02:21.789 --> 00:02:24.430
happy to take your questions and answers. Producer
00:02:24.430 --> 00:02:28.370
Robby West will post them in Rumble and YouTube.
00:02:28.430 --> 00:02:31.270
If you're watching in the live two hours, please
00:02:31.270 --> 00:02:34.090
go ahead and put those up. We especially appreciate
00:02:34.090 --> 00:02:37.719
and really need the subscriptions and the
00:02:37.719 --> 00:02:40.620
Rumble Rants and the paid YouTube chats. So if
00:02:40.620 --> 00:02:43.919
you are so inclined, we'd really appreciate it
00:02:43.919 --> 00:02:48.259
if you could do that. Okay, that's a lot of housekeeping.
00:02:49.219 --> 00:02:51.860
Good morning, Jamarl. How are you doing? It has
00:02:51.860 --> 00:02:54.060
been a mess of a day. I'm doing okay. Oh, shit.
00:02:54.819 --> 00:02:59.659
Do you want to talk about it? Yeah.
00:02:59.740 --> 00:03:02.139
7 a.m., booking a show at 7 a.m. is always
00:03:02.139 --> 00:03:03.780
difficult because if you're talking to Americans,
00:03:03.939 --> 00:03:06.099
nobody wants to be up at 7 a.m. Even the host
00:03:06.099 --> 00:03:07.599
of the show doesn't want to be up at 7 a.m.,
00:03:07.599 --> 00:03:14.159
right? So I finally get—nobody picked up. And
00:03:14.159 --> 00:03:16.919
around 3 in the morning, 4 in the morning, Sarah
00:03:16.919 --> 00:03:18.939
hit me up and was like, hey, I'll do the show.
00:03:21.259 --> 00:03:23.919
I didn't see this because it's 3 in the morning.
00:03:24.539 --> 00:03:28.020
And I'm assuming that I am not doing the show
00:03:28.020 --> 00:03:32.539
at 7 a.m. My first guest is at 8 o'clock. And
00:03:32.539 --> 00:03:35.900
I see it. I'm like, oh, damn, Sarah, I bring
00:03:35.900 --> 00:03:38.039
you on. So I have to set up the show. The show
00:03:38.039 --> 00:03:41.819
starts at 7:30 and my mic doesn't work, but whatever
00:03:41.819 --> 00:03:48.900
reason, Sarah starts dancing a jig. All right, yeah.
00:03:49.409 --> 00:03:52.550
She's in. In fact, she says he's left the white girl
00:03:52.550 --> 00:03:56.530
on air to the show. I don't know why that's relevant,
00:03:56.530 --> 00:03:58.830
right? But whatever. For some reason, white women
00:03:58.830 --> 00:04:00.169
have a tendency to bring up the fact that they're
00:04:00.169 --> 00:04:02.889
white women to black men. But she's like, yeah,
00:04:02.889 --> 00:04:04.610
he's left the white woman on the show to do it.
00:04:04.629 --> 00:04:06.610
And she does a good job. She starts talking about
00:04:06.610 --> 00:04:09.110
AI. She starts filling the space and does her
00:04:09.110 --> 00:04:11.490
own thing. She has her own show, right? Finally,
00:04:11.569 --> 00:04:18.389
the mic works. But this is like 7:35, 7. It's
00:04:18.389 --> 00:04:22.370
been five or six minutes of your guest doing
00:04:22.370 --> 00:04:24.910
the show by themselves because nobody can hear
00:04:24.910 --> 00:04:30.529
you. Just a mess. But she's a pro. She knows
00:04:30.529 --> 00:04:35.269
what she's doing. If you ever cannot get a guest
00:04:35.269 --> 00:04:38.389
and if you need someone who will piss off
00:04:38.389 --> 00:04:40.290
three quarters of your audience, or at least get
00:04:40.290 --> 00:04:43.430
engagement going, I know a guy. I got you.
00:04:43.430 --> 00:04:47.509
A guy, usually. Here's the thing, though. For me,
00:04:47.509 --> 00:04:50.800
the guest is usually specific to topic. So
00:04:50.800 --> 00:04:52.279
if you're covering the story, you want the guests
00:04:52.279 --> 00:04:54.959
to cover the story, and I don't like this idea
00:04:54.959 --> 00:04:59.110
of just fucking around with my audience's time,
00:04:59.110 --> 00:05:02.649
for lack of a better term. It's absolutely
00:05:02.649 --> 00:05:05.360
mortifying, the idea that there's
00:05:05.360 --> 00:05:08.060
it. It goes back to even regular
00:05:08.060 --> 00:05:11.620
radio, right? Dead air is absolutely
00:05:11.620 --> 00:05:14.660
verboten, right? You just have to. You
00:05:14.660 --> 00:05:16.560
want it to be there. You want it to start
00:05:16.560 --> 00:05:19.420
out of the gate, like a racehorse.
00:05:19.420 --> 00:05:22.360
Yeah, it screws with you, and it's like you're
00:05:22.360 --> 00:05:24.620
trying to kind of piece things back together
00:05:24.620 --> 00:05:27.019
in order to have a show that works, and it worked,
00:05:27.019 --> 00:05:30.389
right? Caleb was fantastic. Sarah was awesome. Also,
00:05:30.529 --> 00:05:32.709
what is funny? You observed this here,
00:05:32.889 --> 00:05:35.889
Jamarl, right? The truth is most people aren't
00:05:35.889 --> 00:05:38.129
here at the beginning, right? Most people
00:05:38.129 --> 00:05:40.750
come in later. Right now I'm looking at
00:05:40.750 --> 00:05:43.310
the numbers live. We're at 153. I'm sure we'll
00:05:43.310 --> 00:05:46.430
be well over 300 by the end of the hour. And
00:05:46.430 --> 00:05:48.029
by the end of the second hour, we'll probably
00:05:48.029 --> 00:05:51.370
be pushing 400. It's like, so I saw when we first
00:05:51.370 --> 00:05:53.569
came on, there were maybe 30 or 40 people. So
00:05:53.569 --> 00:05:56.350
if we'd screwed up the first minute or two,
00:05:56.350 --> 00:05:57.930
only a tenth of the audience would have
00:05:57.930 --> 00:06:00.759
really known. Yeah, I feel you. I feel you. Usually
00:06:00.759 --> 00:06:03.579
my show starts at either 7 or 7:15. If I've
00:06:03.579 --> 00:06:06.199
eaten my Wheaties and I have a monologue, 7
00:06:06.199 --> 00:06:09.779
o'clock. If not, and it's kind of because
00:06:09.779 --> 00:06:11.259
I don't always have something to say about everything
00:06:11.259 --> 00:06:14.180
that goes on, right? It's usually something that
00:06:14.180 --> 00:06:16.420
bugs me is why the monologue comes into play.
00:06:16.959 --> 00:06:19.800
But you spend most of your day doing process
00:06:19.800 --> 00:06:22.439
stuff. So it's like you're booking the guests,
00:06:22.600 --> 00:06:27.680
cutting the shows. Most of your day is process.
00:06:28.160 --> 00:06:30.439
And so the time to sit down and actually read
00:06:30.439 --> 00:06:32.600
through everything in a way where it bugs
00:06:32.600 --> 00:06:34.240
you and that type of stuff, you have less of
00:06:34.240 --> 00:06:36.920
it. I don't know. Yes, I want stuff to work,
00:06:36.939 --> 00:06:40.699
and I want stuff to work at one point. So let's
00:06:40.699 --> 00:06:43.639
do some comments, and then we'll get to it, get
00:06:43.639 --> 00:06:45.139
to whatever you want to start with tomorrow.
00:06:45.279 --> 00:06:47.240
October 7th should be the start because I didn't
00:06:47.240 --> 00:06:49.500
even realize it was October 7th. My entire show
00:06:49.500 --> 00:06:52.060
was so running. I didn't realize it until you
00:06:52.060 --> 00:06:54.089
said it, but we should start there. Okay, good.
00:06:54.089 --> 00:06:56.529
We'll do that. Let's—Schizo, did you guys hear
00:06:56.529 --> 00:06:58.430
about the Marine that raped a woman in Japan?
00:06:58.430 --> 00:07:00.949
First of all, we'll say a Marine who allegedly
00:07:00.949 --> 00:07:04.829
raped a woman in Japan. They're being forced
00:07:04.829 --> 00:07:07.490
to stay on base, and the Japanese people want
00:07:07.490 --> 00:07:10.089
them out. That's—yeah, this is a recurring
00:07:10.089 --> 00:07:14.449
issue in Okinawa, right? There's a major U.S.
00:07:14.449 --> 00:07:16.589
base there. It's been there since World War II.
00:07:16.589 --> 00:07:20.029
It's basically kind of like, hey, Japanese people,
00:07:20.029 --> 00:07:23.449
don't get spicy again. We're right here. I think
00:07:23.449 --> 00:07:26.029
my cousin was there. The Marines there are off.
00:07:26.110 --> 00:07:28.350
Sorry? I think my cousin was there. My cousin
00:07:28.350 --> 00:07:30.350
was in the military, and I think he was in Japan.
00:07:30.829 --> 00:07:33.110
I know he was in Japan. I think he was in Japan.
00:07:33.620 --> 00:07:36.399
The Okinawans don't seem to want them there.
00:07:37.060 --> 00:07:38.879
They're, obviously, it's a part of the
00:07:38.879 --> 00:07:41.360
economy, but a lot of the—there's
00:07:41.360 --> 00:07:43.800
a long history of U.S. Marines misbehaving there,
00:07:43.959 --> 00:07:47.560
attacking, raping local women. And
00:07:47.579 --> 00:07:50.019
obviously there's a vibrant sex trade going on
00:07:50.019 --> 00:07:53.279
there. So it's unpleasant for
00:07:53.279 --> 00:07:56.060
the locals. And I think if there were a plebiscite,
00:07:56.139 --> 00:07:59.100
I'm sure the Japanese would vote to have that
00:07:59.100 --> 00:08:02.279
base closed and the Americans forced to leave.
00:08:02.939 --> 00:08:06.379
It's not—yeah, this is just another
00:08:06.379 --> 00:08:09.100
step in that direction, right? I don't
00:08:09.100 --> 00:08:11.800
have a lot to say about it except it's embarrassing to—as usual, it's embarrassing
00:08:14.360 --> 00:08:17.259
to be an American. We've colonized the world with
00:08:17.259 --> 00:08:20.740
military bases. It's infinitely conceivable
00:08:20.740 --> 00:08:23.540
that this would happen. Yes, people rape
00:08:23.540 --> 00:08:26.379
in their own country, right? Of course, it's not
00:08:26.379 --> 00:08:28.259
shocking that the people who rape in their own
00:08:28.259 --> 00:08:30.620
country may go to other countries and also commit
00:08:30.620 --> 00:08:33.480
rapes. We would want a higher standard because
00:08:33.480 --> 00:08:35.179
we want to say, well, these are the U.S. military.
00:08:35.320 --> 00:08:37.139
We would like them to be Stargate, right?
00:08:37.299 --> 00:08:40.019
Stargate Command, where the people are decent
00:08:40.019 --> 00:08:42.299
and they try to do the right thing, even in difficult
00:08:42.299 --> 00:08:45.259
circumstances, et cetera. Some people are psychos
00:08:45.259 --> 00:08:47.879
and some people have no issue taking what they
00:08:47.879 --> 00:08:49.320
want. And it just so happens—so I'm going to
00:08:49.320 --> 00:08:51.480
say something that is going to be a little controversial.
00:08:51.559 --> 00:08:54.740
I think if you're a psycho, you're more likely—
00:08:55.039 --> 00:08:57.940
let's put it this way. If psychos are
00:08:57.940 --> 00:09:00.840
probably disproportionately highly represented
00:09:00.840 --> 00:09:04.379
in the military, in a volunteer military, than
00:09:04.379 --> 00:09:06.779
they are than normal people. What I mean
00:09:06.779 --> 00:09:10.320
is I think a lot of people—it's
00:09:10.320 --> 00:09:12.440
if you're
00:09:12.440 --> 00:09:15.899
taking a job that's not paid terribly well in
00:09:15.899 --> 00:09:18.580
which you may be asked to go and kill people
00:09:18.580 --> 00:09:22.350
who haven't done anything to you. That's not
00:09:22.350 --> 00:09:25.730
really the most normal psychology for most people,
00:09:25.730 --> 00:09:28.960
I would say. For a lot of people, though, the
00:09:28.960 --> 00:09:32.320
military, stuff like that, I would agree. But I
00:09:32.320 --> 00:09:35.440
would argue politics. They're more highly representative.
00:09:35.440 --> 00:09:37.940
It's one thing to say, I'm sitting—I, as
00:09:37.940 --> 00:09:40.059
an individual, I'm going to go out because my
00:09:40.059 --> 00:09:44.259
country ideally sends me somewhere to fight and
00:09:44.259 --> 00:09:47.659
to kill, as opposed to the guy that's doing it.
00:09:47.950 --> 00:09:50.649
The guy that's doing it is on another level,
00:09:50.649 --> 00:09:54.070
right? This person or this soldier may kill somebody
00:09:54.070 --> 00:09:55.730
at an individual level. That's assuming they're
00:09:55.730 --> 00:09:57.830
firing a rifle or whatever, or going into a city.
00:09:58.320 --> 00:10:00.379
Another one may fire artillery and kill a certain
00:10:00.379 --> 00:10:02.539
number of people. But the people who are in charge,
00:10:02.539 --> 00:10:04.139
who are effectively allowing this stuff to take
00:10:04.139 --> 00:10:06.500
place and pushing it—I'll give you an example,
00:10:06.600 --> 00:10:10.759
great example. The Ukrainian war never needed
00:10:10.759 --> 00:10:13.720
to take place, right? And over and over again,
00:10:13.759 --> 00:10:16.019
there were multiple steps where Putin was either
00:10:16.019 --> 00:10:18.360
the Minsk agreements or the Istanbul agreements.
00:10:18.580 --> 00:10:21.779
And in each of these situations, Europe killed
00:10:21.779 --> 00:10:24.279
the deal, meaning they pushed this war forward.
00:10:26.970 --> 00:10:29.169
The "Nyet means nyet" memorandum by William Burns
00:10:29.169 --> 00:10:31.029
makes it very clear that the U.S. and Europe
00:10:31.029 --> 00:10:32.889
fully understood the gravity of what was taking
00:10:32.889 --> 00:10:35.509
place, meaning we understand that there is most
00:10:35.509 --> 00:10:37.429
likely going to be a civil war as a result of
00:10:37.429 --> 00:10:40.149
us offering NATO membership to Ukraine. And they
00:10:40.149 --> 00:10:42.929
did it anyway. At no point did they want to stop
00:10:42.929 --> 00:10:45.230
this war, meaning they full well understood the
00:10:45.230 --> 00:10:46.370
number of people that were going to get killed,
00:10:46.429 --> 00:10:47.750
the number of people that were going to die.
00:10:48.190 --> 00:10:51.500
Didn't matter. Now, you could say that those
00:10:51.500 --> 00:10:53.480
people aren't psychopaths. I think they are.
00:10:54.250 --> 00:10:58.309
I think that's insane. I wouldn't disagree with
00:10:58.309 --> 00:11:00.649
that at all. I totally think they're psychopaths.
00:11:01.070 --> 00:11:02.929
They're just a different kind of psychopath.
00:11:03.269 --> 00:11:06.970
And CEOs. Yeah, no, totally. I think they're
00:11:06.970 --> 00:11:08.830
highly representative of certain career things.
00:11:08.990 --> 00:11:11.309
Maybe a soldier, fair enough. The guy who
00:11:11.309 --> 00:11:15.519
got capped by Luigi. Total psycho. Yeah. But
00:11:15.519 --> 00:11:17.860
that's kind of. Well, but that guy's. But right
00:11:17.860 --> 00:11:19.539
now we're talking about the Okinawa situation.
00:11:19.679 --> 00:11:21.480
I'm just saying the kind of person who would
00:11:21.480 --> 00:11:26.059
enlist in the military voluntarily. And again,
00:11:26.120 --> 00:11:28.220
I reiterate the fact that this is not a terribly
00:11:28.220 --> 00:11:30.899
well-paid job, which kind of
00:11:30.899 --> 00:11:33.519
belies the whole. Well, for many,
00:11:33.539 --> 00:11:35.600
Robby's trying to make that point,
00:11:35.600 --> 00:11:37.460
oh, for a lot of people, there's
00:11:37.460 --> 00:11:41.379
no other way. There's always another way. There's
00:11:41.379 --> 00:11:43.679
always a job in a fast food restaurant.
00:11:43.960 --> 00:11:45.179
How do you think my cousin joined the military?
00:11:46.029 --> 00:11:49.470
I don't know your cousin. Oh, that's fair. Fair
00:11:49.470 --> 00:11:52.070
enough. I'll tell you the flat fact. He's not
00:11:52.070 --> 00:11:54.909
a psychopath. I'll tell you that. I would also
00:11:54.909 --> 00:11:56.450
tell you that part of the reason that he joined
00:11:56.450 --> 00:11:57.990
is because many people see the military as a
00:11:57.990 --> 00:11:59.490
job. By the way, I'm not saying all people who
00:11:59.490 --> 00:12:01.370
join the military are psychopaths. I'm saying
00:12:01.370 --> 00:12:03.940
that... I would imagine if you took the
00:12:03.940 --> 00:12:06.379
population, if you said, what percentage of the
00:12:06.379 --> 00:12:08.700
military are psychopaths? I'm going to say probably
00:12:08.700 --> 00:12:10.960
that's a higher number. In fact, the military
00:12:10.960 --> 00:12:14.639
has found that to be true. It's a higher number
00:12:14.639 --> 00:12:16.620
than the population in general. That's all I'm
00:12:16.620 --> 00:12:20.159
saying. I'm sure the vast majority of members
00:12:20.159 --> 00:12:22.379
of the military are not psychopaths. I'm just
00:12:22.379 --> 00:12:23.480
going to say that they're disproportionately
00:12:23.480 --> 00:12:27.000
represented. That's all. I don't know the numbers
00:12:27.000 --> 00:12:28.879
for it, so I don't know the answer for it. And
00:12:28.879 --> 00:12:30.759
you might be right. Especially when you get into
00:12:30.759 --> 00:12:32.539
SEAL Team 6 and those type of things. Well, they're
00:12:32.539 --> 00:12:34.200
more interested in—the military is actually
00:12:34.200 --> 00:12:37.500
actively interested in sociopaths, people who
00:12:37.500 --> 00:12:39.559
don't feel. It's not that they're—sociopaths
00:12:39.559 --> 00:12:41.500
aren't really bad people, but they're people
00:12:41.500 --> 00:12:44.720
who don't feel guilty. For example, if
00:12:44.720 --> 00:12:46.740
they have to kill someone, it doesn't haunt them.
00:12:48.100 --> 00:12:51.679
Well, sociopaths is a little bit different. Sociopaths
00:12:51.679 --> 00:12:55.659
has to do with social incentives that make a
00:12:55.659 --> 00:12:58.120
person or get a person into the mindset that
00:12:58.120 --> 00:13:00.559
this is okay. Let's say you grew up in a
00:13:00.559 --> 00:13:03.159
ghetto. It's a horrible situation, right? Sorry
00:13:03.159 --> 00:13:04.879
to interrupt, but it's also important to say,
00:13:04.879 --> 00:13:08.299
I kind of sort of emphasize
00:13:08.299 --> 00:13:10.120
the kind of person who would join, but then there's
00:13:10.120 --> 00:13:13.059
also what they do to you after you get in,
00:13:13.059 --> 00:13:16.279
after you join, right? That's all. That's not a
00:13:16.279 --> 00:13:19.279
small part of the equation. And then they're also
00:13:19.279 --> 00:13:21.340
putting you in a single-sex environment,
00:13:21.340 --> 00:13:25.769
in many cases, right? So, also,
00:13:25.769 --> 00:13:28.490
the idea that soldiers might be likelier
00:13:28.490 --> 00:13:32.169
to be rapier. That's not surprising either,
00:13:32.230 --> 00:13:35.289
right? It's kind of like Catholic priests
00:13:35.289 --> 00:13:38.490
or any single-sex environment
00:13:38.490 --> 00:13:42.129
or fraternities at Cornell University or
00:13:42.129 --> 00:13:43.850
any single-sex environment is going to
00:13:43.850 --> 00:13:46.009
tend to be a little rapey. But it's not. Okay, well, Cornell University—well, the school
00:13:48.669 --> 00:13:51.059
may be single-sex. They're not trapped. It's not
00:13:51.059 --> 00:13:55.500
a prison. The man can go out. If you're a fraternity
00:13:55.500 --> 00:13:58.519
brother—one of the reasons I would not—okay,
00:13:58.519 --> 00:14:02.559
I had—I totally can speak to this. So at Columbia
00:14:02.559 --> 00:14:05.259
we had the ability to, starting the year that
00:14:05.259 --> 00:14:07.720
I was there, to live in the Barnard dorms if we
00:14:07.720 --> 00:14:10.379
won the housing lottery, right? So you could choose.
00:14:10.379 --> 00:14:14.139
So I was very, very happy that I was one of
00:14:14.139 --> 00:14:16.559
the few guys who got to live at the Barnard dorms.
00:14:16.559 --> 00:14:20.000
All of my guy friends were like, why would
00:14:20.000 --> 00:14:21.460
you want to live over there? You have to live
00:14:21.460 --> 00:14:24.340
and eat in the cafeteria with all those girls.
00:14:24.440 --> 00:14:27.860
I'm like, because you have to. My answer was
00:14:27.860 --> 00:14:30.399
because I want to live and eat with all those
00:14:30.399 --> 00:14:33.600
girls, right? And so, and I was like, why
00:14:33.600 --> 00:14:36.419
do you want to be over here with all these guys,
00:14:36.740 --> 00:14:41.259
right? I was like, why? And
00:14:41.259 --> 00:14:43.059
I guess it's, well, we just
00:14:43.059 --> 00:14:45.580
like it better. But I'm like, I think I'm a little more hetero than you are. Maybe
00:14:47.620 --> 00:14:50.879
that's just what I think. Dorms—we had men
00:14:50.879 --> 00:14:54.610
and women in our dorms. It was great. Well,
00:14:54.610 --> 00:14:56.629
that's what it's like now, but Columbia was a—
00:14:56.629 --> 00:15:00.250
Columbia was—Columbia University, Columbia
00:15:00.250 --> 00:15:03.169
College was a single-sex, all-male school
00:15:03.169 --> 00:15:06.850
until 1983. And then, you're looking at
00:15:06.850 --> 00:15:09.070
the presidents for students for co-education
00:15:09.070 --> 00:15:12.710
right here. And so women were admitted
00:15:12.710 --> 00:15:20.320
in 1983. And so that year we had crossover between
00:15:20.320 --> 00:15:22.639
the Barnard and the Columbia dorms. Now it's
00:15:22.639 --> 00:15:24.559
completely—the Columbia dorms are completely
00:15:24.559 --> 00:15:27.379
co-ed, of course. Well, just to make the point,
00:15:27.379 --> 00:15:30.299
though, basically the argument is, do single-sex
00:15:30.299 --> 00:15:32.940
environments make people more rapey? I think
00:15:32.940 --> 00:15:34.820
that's the argument that's being made. That's
00:15:34.820 --> 00:15:36.200
my argument. I don't have an answer to that.
00:15:36.500 --> 00:15:38.120
I don't have an answer to that. It's because
00:15:38.120 --> 00:15:39.879
militaries, I think, are a bit different.
00:15:39.879 --> 00:15:42.970
I think militaries—there's a culture in militaries
00:15:42.970 --> 00:15:48.330
of rape in general, meaning you take—they
00:15:48.370 --> 00:15:51.509
even got, what, taking booty, right? Hell, you're taking people's entire countries,
00:15:53.610 --> 00:15:56.350
right? So what's the big deal about taking one
00:15:56.350 --> 00:15:59.409
person's body? I know, but often, right, it's
00:15:59.409 --> 00:16:01.230
the one person's body matters less than the fact
00:16:01.230 --> 00:16:02.690
that they've just taken over the entirety of
00:16:02.690 --> 00:16:04.850
the country. But oftentimes the bodies of the
00:16:04.850 --> 00:16:08.120
people that are there become part of the quote
00:16:08.470 --> 00:16:11.230
unquote booty. It's not great. It's not a rah-rah,
00:16:11.230 --> 00:16:16.750
but it's not like it's an ancient mentality.
00:16:17.009 --> 00:16:19.649
To the victor go the spoils, right? Rape and
00:16:19.649 --> 00:16:23.269
pillage. Protecting our young women and our young
00:16:23.269 --> 00:16:29.529
wives. Yeah, wives and women. But on Japan, these
00:16:29.529 --> 00:16:32.970
guys are not at war, right? Meaning the rapey
00:16:32.970 --> 00:16:34.769
thing comes in, I think, because of the pumped-
00:16:34.769 --> 00:16:37.980
up war stuff. These guys aren't at war. They're
00:16:37.980 --> 00:16:40.840
just at a military base. But everyone's well
00:16:40.840 --> 00:16:43.139
aware why they're at that base, right? Why is
00:16:43.139 --> 00:16:45.750
that base there? If you can spit game, you can
00:16:45.750 --> 00:16:48.470
get Japanese women, as my cousin was able to
00:16:48.470 --> 00:16:51.509
do. Just pointing out, you don't have to be a
00:16:51.509 --> 00:16:54.690
rapist, right? Oh, for sure. For sure. Obviously. And look, again, obviously, I'm sure.
00:16:57.610 --> 00:16:59.789
First of all, the U.S. military couldn't function
00:16:59.789 --> 00:17:02.070
if most of its soldiers were rapists, right?
00:17:02.230 --> 00:17:06.349
Obviously, most of them are not. I think
00:17:06.349 --> 00:17:07.710
the key part of the story is they shouldn't be
00:17:07.710 --> 00:17:10.519
in Japan. They shouldn't be in Okinawa. That's
00:17:10.519 --> 00:17:12.779
the key point, right? Well, because they're not
00:17:12.779 --> 00:17:16.099
needed or wanted. So, yes, that's correct. Bad
00:17:16.099 --> 00:17:18.339
Cookies wants to know, Jamarl, you have the answer
00:17:18.339 --> 00:17:19.920
to this question. Do you guys know what is the
00:17:19.920 --> 00:17:22.980
name of Jamarl Thomas's other show? The Jamarl Thomas
00:17:22.980 --> 00:17:26.589
Show. Easy to remember. That's the name. It's
00:17:26.589 --> 00:17:28.549
on my channel, Jamarl Thomas. It's just the Jamarl
00:17:28.549 --> 00:17:30.170
Thomas Show. I have shows all throughout the
00:17:30.170 --> 00:17:33.769
day. Melissa Morgan says, no, Robby, not you.
00:17:34.109 --> 00:17:39.019
Can't have you annoying me on two channels. What?
00:17:39.019 --> 00:17:43.400
In terms of Robby appearing on your show when
00:17:43.400 --> 00:17:48.079
you need help. She's like, no. If I need a right-
00:17:48.079 --> 00:17:52.539
winger, I'll bring him on. Wait, Robby's a right-
00:17:52.539 --> 00:17:58.000
winger? I didn't know that. Okay, Duskburn. I
00:17:58.000 --> 00:18:00.259
thought he was a North Korean communist. Right.
00:18:01.900 --> 00:18:04.059
Most folks I know joined the service because
00:18:04.059 --> 00:18:06.759
they wanted the chance to go to college. That
00:18:06.759 --> 00:18:10.309
too. Daniel says, I was poor and wanted to go
00:18:10.309 --> 00:18:12.369
to college. I got a Pell Grant and a job, no
00:18:12.369 --> 00:18:16.150
need to join the military. Pell Grant doesn't
00:18:16.150 --> 00:18:19.049
pay much, but not that it was the military. Douglas,
00:18:19.390 --> 00:18:21.829
frat boys seem very gay-coded. That's why so
00:18:21.829 --> 00:18:24.470
many end up in the Republican Party. I agree
00:18:24.470 --> 00:18:28.420
with that. That's what I'm trying to say. So
00:18:28.420 --> 00:18:31.140
there were very few frats at Columbia. There
00:18:31.140 --> 00:18:33.119
were only like three when I went there. Total
00:18:33.119 --> 00:18:36.619
membership was under 100 people, right? In a school with, oh, 24,000 people in
00:18:39.680 --> 00:18:43.819
the university, right? So it's nothing. It's
00:18:43.819 --> 00:18:46.099
probably bigger now than it used to be because
00:18:46.099 --> 00:18:50.460
life has just gotten worse. But anyway. I had
00:18:50.460 --> 00:18:54.160
a friend who he was pledged to one of the
00:18:54.160 --> 00:18:56.839
frats there, and he told me what the initiation
00:18:56.839 --> 00:19:00.440
ritual was, which was you had to masturbate onto
00:19:00.440 --> 00:19:03.720
a saltine and then eat it, and then sometimes
00:19:03.720 --> 00:19:06.240
the variant was you had to eat someone else's
00:19:06.240 --> 00:19:10.450
saltine. Oh, that's not gay-coded at all. There's
00:19:10.450 --> 00:19:13.289
nothing gay about that. Nothing gay about that.
00:19:13.289 --> 00:19:17.210
Yeah, I never wanted to be in the frat
00:19:17.210 --> 00:19:21.430
because I thought people could be—that it
00:19:21.430 --> 00:19:25.250
was, I don't know, it was a crowd issue.
00:19:25.250 --> 00:19:28.730
It was a virtue signal issue. I thought,
00:19:28.910 --> 00:19:31.029
okay, these are very weak people that need to
00:19:31.029 --> 00:19:33.210
come together in this way. Granted, that's
00:19:33.210 --> 00:19:34.809
not fair, but that was the way I thought about
00:19:34.809 --> 00:19:37.210
it. The gay thing is—see, that's so funny how—
00:19:37.210 --> 00:19:39.589
oh, I just think of them as, it's
00:19:39.589 --> 00:19:42.369
gay-coded, right? Look, it's like football
00:19:42.369 --> 00:19:44.930
is gay-coded, with the tight pants and they
00:19:44.930 --> 00:19:47.089
grab each other's asses and they're all in the
00:19:47.089 --> 00:19:49.450
locker room together. It's like a gay
00:19:49.490 --> 00:19:52.369
fantasy porn movie, right?
00:19:52.369 --> 00:19:55.589
A lot of American culture is kind of gay.
00:19:55.789 --> 00:19:59.529
Hegseth is gay. Rubio is gay. Right-
00:19:59.529 --> 00:20:04.480
wing culture is very gay. They celebrate
00:20:04.480 --> 00:20:08.150
the masculine, if that's what you mean. Well,
00:20:08.269 --> 00:20:09.750
yeah, in a certain kind of way. Even semen is
00:20:09.750 --> 00:20:11.529
not the most masculine thing in the world. That's
00:20:11.529 --> 00:20:14.549
very gross. The fact that they would, at
00:20:14.579 --> 00:20:16.380
that moment, they should have been like,
00:20:16.380 --> 00:20:19.140
I don't need this. I just walk, right?
00:20:19.440 --> 00:20:21.720
The idea that you sit there and,
00:20:21.720 --> 00:20:23.460
I'm going to eat another man's semen on a cracker
00:20:23.460 --> 00:20:26.319
in order to be part of a fraternity. Really?
00:20:28.119 --> 00:20:31.450
It matters that much to you? That's some insane
00:20:31.450 --> 00:20:33.589
shit. And imagine if they got the video of that.
00:20:33.769 --> 00:20:36.690
I was in marching band in high school and we
00:20:36.690 --> 00:20:40.720
had hazing still. It was the late '70s. And I
00:20:40.720 --> 00:20:43.819
had to, and my hazing was, I was ordered to—
00:20:43.859 --> 00:20:45.779
we were all different, had different shits.
00:20:45.779 --> 00:20:47.819
Some people had to use a toothbrush to clean
00:20:47.819 --> 00:20:52.140
an entire statue. I was told to wear high heels
00:20:52.140 --> 00:20:57.470
for a week in school. Now, I actually, to tell
00:20:57.470 --> 00:20:59.430
you the truth, this was a great experience because
00:20:59.430 --> 00:21:01.289
it really taught me one thing, which is that
00:21:01.289 --> 00:21:05.480
high heels should be banned. And that men who
00:21:05.480 --> 00:21:08.440
require their women to wear high heels are assholes
00:21:08.440 --> 00:21:11.900
because high heels are insanely painful and hard
00:21:11.900 --> 00:21:16.200
to walk in. They should be banned by
00:21:16.200 --> 00:21:19.730
law, along with football. I have tattoos. I have
00:21:19.730 --> 00:21:20.930
a tattoo on the back of my neck. I have one on
00:21:20.930 --> 00:21:23.849
my arm. I have one all over. I think tattoos
00:21:23.849 --> 00:21:25.910
are sexy. Even on women, I think tattoos are
00:21:25.910 --> 00:21:28.250
sexy. I think piercings. What does that have
00:21:28.250 --> 00:21:33.069
to do with high heels? Because it's pain. You're
00:21:33.069 --> 00:21:36.589
paying pain for the luxury of the look. You sound
00:21:36.589 --> 00:21:38.970
like my mom. My mom used to wear all sorts of
00:21:38.970 --> 00:21:40.829
clothes and shoes because she's French. Then
00:21:40.829 --> 00:21:43.329
she was like—I was like, that looks really scratchy
00:21:43.329 --> 00:21:45.349
and uncomfortable. She'd be like, it is. What
00:21:45.349 --> 00:21:48.269
matters is looking good. Exactly. It's that part.
00:21:48.309 --> 00:21:53.069
French. It's like, yeah, it hurts. But the pain
00:21:53.069 --> 00:21:55.609
is payment for the look. That's the way I look
00:21:55.609 --> 00:21:57.769
at it. By the way, did you see the video that's
00:21:57.769 --> 00:22:00.470
going around that's viral? It's of the French
00:22:00.470 --> 00:22:03.079
riots. And it's at a cafe. I don't know which
00:22:03.079 --> 00:22:06.319
city it's in, but there's a middle-aged couple
00:22:06.319 --> 00:22:09.039
and they're just eating their wine. They're drinking
00:22:09.039 --> 00:22:11.759
their red wine and they're eating their food
00:22:11.759 --> 00:22:16.539
and things are burning and blowing up. And every
00:22:16.539 --> 00:22:19.319
now and then they're like, oh yeah, something
00:22:19.319 --> 00:22:22.420
blows up and they're just drinking. And someone
00:22:22.420 --> 00:22:25.279
captioned it, this is the most French thing ever.
00:22:25.420 --> 00:22:28.579
It's so cool. That's awesome. That's so awesome.
00:22:28.940 --> 00:22:30.359
Because that's one of the best parts of France,
00:22:30.359 --> 00:22:33.519
that you guys sit in the cafe hours, just no matter
00:22:33.519 --> 00:22:38.670
what. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, we have—so we're half
00:22:38.670 --> 00:22:40.990
an hour in, almost not even, but we should. Okay,
00:22:40.990 --> 00:22:45.329
Gaza. So it's October 7th, three years ago. We
00:22:45.329 --> 00:22:49.269
all know what happened. Where is Israel now?
00:22:49.269 --> 00:22:52.609
Pardon? It's been three years. I thought it was
00:22:52.609 --> 00:22:58.349
three years. Three years. So
00:22:58.349 --> 00:23:00.589
the point is, what? Right now the big story in Israel,
00:23:00.589 --> 00:23:02.589
they have an election coming up in
00:23:02.589 --> 00:23:05.089
a couple of weeks. Nobody knows how it's going to
00:23:05.089 --> 00:23:08.970
go. It's kind of even, but basically the U.S. is—
00:23:08.970 --> 00:23:13.680
the UAE, Egypt. My cat Clovis. Everybody warned
00:23:13.680 --> 00:23:17.099
Netanyahu that this was going to happen. So obviously
00:23:17.099 --> 00:23:19.619
he knew it was going to happen and decided not
00:23:19.619 --> 00:23:22.660
to do anything about it. So one of
00:23:22.660 --> 00:23:24.839
the stories that we don't cover here much is
00:23:24.839 --> 00:23:28.200
the Israeli economy is in real trouble. They've
00:23:28.200 --> 00:23:30.660
lost 100,000 of the most skilled workers have
00:23:30.660 --> 00:23:34.559
fled the country. The national debt has increased
00:23:34.559 --> 00:23:39.119
a lot. The Israeli businesses have been disrupted
00:23:39.119 --> 00:23:42.619
by so many people being called, being drafted
00:23:42.619 --> 00:23:45.960
into the reserves. Obviously, to me, the big
00:23:45.960 --> 00:23:49.660
influence—Hamas is still gangbusters.
00:23:49.839 --> 00:23:54.529
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No.
00:23:54.529 --> 00:23:57.990
Israel is deeply diplomatically isolated.
00:23:58.289 --> 00:24:00.809
There's warrants for the prime minister's arrest
00:24:00.809 --> 00:24:04.710
from the ICC. Palestine's being recognized by
00:24:04.710 --> 00:24:07.369
a lot of countries that never would have before.
00:24:08.690 --> 00:24:11.630
Before I did this show, I was talking
00:24:11.630 --> 00:24:15.269
to Spanish government officials who are looking
00:24:15.269 --> 00:24:20.430
to help fund a play that's going to be put
00:24:20.430 --> 00:24:23.269
on in Palestine. I might do the graphic novel
00:24:23.269 --> 00:24:26.150
adaptation for it. Just another example of just
00:24:26.150 --> 00:24:29.329
everybody's pro-Palestine now. Nobody
00:24:29.329 --> 00:24:33.009
likes Israel. U.S. support for Israel is plummeting
00:24:33.009 --> 00:24:36.089
even among Republicans. The point is I
00:24:36.089 --> 00:24:40.170
think it's fair to say that Israel has lost and
00:24:40.170 --> 00:24:43.690
it's never coming back, and it's
00:24:43.690 --> 00:24:46.759
this was an amazing victory on the part of
00:24:46.759 --> 00:24:49.460
Hamas. I think this must have greatly
00:24:49.460 --> 00:24:52.279
exceeded their expectations. They were hoping
00:24:52.279 --> 00:24:55.180
to just change the outcome of negotiations. But
00:24:55.180 --> 00:24:57.660
this has gone beyond that. Israel is
00:24:57.660 --> 00:25:01.420
now facing its biggest existential crisis since
00:25:01.420 --> 00:25:07.500
1948. Yeah. Talk about heels hurting,
00:25:07.599 --> 00:25:13.119
right? This was paid in blood from the standpoint
00:25:13.119 --> 00:25:20.529
of Hamas. And I think I agree with your
00:25:20.529 --> 00:25:23.750
assessment. I think I do. I think it's the cost
00:25:23.750 --> 00:25:29.950
that's difficult to accept. But, yeah, I think
00:25:29.950 --> 00:25:31.710
I agree with your assessment. That the reality
00:25:31.710 --> 00:25:34.410
of it is Israel—the fact that Israel
00:25:34.410 --> 00:25:36.650
is trying to ingratiate itself further into the
00:25:36.650 --> 00:25:39.890
U.S. military gets to your point, right? They
00:25:39.890 --> 00:25:42.349
don't believe that what's coming in the next
00:25:42.349 --> 00:25:45.049
10, 15, 20 years is going to be favorable to
00:25:45.049 --> 00:25:47.339
them. Because they are a pariah state that just
00:25:47.339 --> 00:25:50.140
committed a genocide that the entire world watched
00:25:50.140 --> 00:25:54.079
live-streamed. That's heavy. Right. That's not.
00:25:54.079 --> 00:25:58.180
It's very heavy. You could say when the Germans
00:25:58.180 --> 00:26:00.740
committed their genocide that the public knew,
00:26:00.839 --> 00:26:03.140
but kind of not. It was kind of this. Well,
00:26:03.180 --> 00:26:05.799
we have an idea of something taking place, but
00:26:05.799 --> 00:26:07.539
we haven't seen it. It's not sitting in Germany.
00:26:08.259 --> 00:26:10.799
It's not being live-streamed where each and every
00:26:10.799 --> 00:26:12.880
person around the world can actually watch them
00:26:12.880 --> 00:26:15.849
take glee out of murdering kids. We didn't get
00:26:15.849 --> 00:26:17.930
that opportunity when the Second World War was
00:26:17.930 --> 00:26:21.910
taking place. We got it now. And for all of this
00:26:21.910 --> 00:26:24.470
years of them trying to say, don't believe your
00:26:24.470 --> 00:26:26.109
lying eyes. It's not a genocide. By the way,
00:26:26.130 --> 00:26:27.890
they still push that narrative. It's not a genocide.
00:26:28.150 --> 00:26:32.589
Every single day I see it on social media. There
00:26:32.589 --> 00:26:34.890
is no genocide. That's their talking point on
00:26:34.890 --> 00:26:38.430
the Hasbara channels. And it's like, nobody believes
00:26:38.430 --> 00:26:42.230
you. Nobody believes you. Nobody believes you.
00:26:42.269 --> 00:26:45.430
Keep yelling, idiots. It doesn't help. You're
00:26:45.430 --> 00:26:49.170
just making yourselves look foolish. Which is
00:26:49.170 --> 00:26:51.470
great, because I feel like this is an argument
00:26:51.470 --> 00:26:53.589
that we won. A lot of people think
00:26:53.589 --> 00:26:56.670
political divisions just last forever, but they
00:26:56.670 --> 00:26:58.150
don't last forever. There are things
00:26:58.150 --> 00:26:59.569
that are won and there are things that are lost,
00:26:59.710 --> 00:27:00.869
especially from the standpoint of narratives.
00:27:01.509 --> 00:27:06.210
Rape is looked at as bad, right? That's
00:27:06.210 --> 00:27:08.109
a bad thing. Okay, that's something that somebody
00:27:08.109 --> 00:27:09.890
won. That's an argument that was won, because
00:27:09.890 --> 00:27:12.309
at some point it may not have been necessarily bad.
00:27:12.470 --> 00:27:16.000
It is now. Civil rights. Being racist is not
00:27:16.000 --> 00:27:19.160
necessarily—being racist is frail to put. Okay,
00:27:19.180 --> 00:27:21.140
why? Because the argument was won. And I think
00:27:21.140 --> 00:27:23.779
this is one of those things where this incessant
00:27:23.779 --> 00:27:25.660
push of you're committing a genocide, you're
00:27:25.660 --> 00:27:27.000
committing a genocide, you're murdering women
00:27:27.000 --> 00:27:29.119
and children. Here's the videos. Here's the evidence.
00:27:29.460 --> 00:27:32.460
It's so voluminous. You can't turn away. You
00:27:32.460 --> 00:27:33.619
just can't turn away. They lost the argument.
00:27:35.069 --> 00:27:38.049
I think it's really—actually
00:27:38.049 --> 00:27:39.930
very profound what you just said, right?
00:27:39.950 --> 00:27:42.470
Political change does happen, right? But it's
00:27:42.470 --> 00:27:44.410
in fits and starts, kind of like the way evolution
00:27:44.410 --> 00:27:47.730
is. It's like
00:27:47.730 --> 00:27:51.630
a prisoner chipping away at his prison cell wall,
00:27:51.630 --> 00:27:54.849
and he spends years every day, chips a little
00:27:54.849 --> 00:27:58.230
bit, chips away a little more, and then suddenly
00:27:58.230 --> 00:28:03.180
one day, 17 years into it, the wall falls
00:28:03.180 --> 00:28:06.299
into it, falls into the shaft, and he's like, holy,
00:28:06.299 --> 00:28:09.980
I'm standing in the—I'm standing between
00:28:09.980 --> 00:28:14.079
the walls. I can see out, right? And
00:28:14.079 --> 00:28:16.640
that's what political change is like.
00:28:16.759 --> 00:28:18.779
And it could be over something as profound
00:28:18.779 --> 00:28:22.119
as civil rights or not as important
00:28:22.119 --> 00:28:24.640
as, say, whether or not you should be able
00:28:24.640 --> 00:28:27.160
to smoke in an office.
00:28:27.160 --> 00:28:31.119
Civil rights, that's a struggle
00:28:31.119 --> 00:28:34.640
that went on for well over 100 years. And
00:28:34.660 --> 00:28:39.940
people grew up, lived full, long lives
00:28:39.940 --> 00:28:42.299
and died thinking that this was never going to
00:28:42.299 --> 00:28:46.349
change. But it did. And that's what
00:28:46.349 --> 00:28:48.990
this is like. It's, I thought
00:28:48.990 --> 00:28:51.190
we would never see a world in which
00:28:51.190 --> 00:28:53.369
the U.S. would turn away from Israel. I'm sure
00:28:53.369 --> 00:28:55.670
that we're going to see a world in which the
00:28:55.670 --> 00:28:59.349
U.S. stops funding. I'm 63. I know I'm going
00:28:59.349 --> 00:29:01.890
to live to see the day that there's not a single
00:29:01.890 --> 00:29:04.109
dollar going from the United States to Israel.
00:29:04.369 --> 00:29:06.089
And I don't think I'm going to have to wait that
00:29:06.089 --> 00:29:09.650
long to see it. I don't know. And I
00:29:09.650 --> 00:29:14.789
just think that's a profound change. Hamas delivered
00:29:14.789 --> 00:29:18.970
the final blow. Here's the part that you're missing.
00:29:19.289 --> 00:29:22.029
And this is—what you're saying is that
00:29:22.029 --> 00:29:25.730
isn't part correct. If you go poll the normal
00:29:25.730 --> 00:29:28.519
person on the street, they're going to tell you
00:29:28.519 --> 00:29:31.039
Israel is a genocidal state. We should have nothing
00:29:31.039 --> 00:29:34.349
to do with it. The problem is that you keep
00:29:34.349 --> 00:29:35.990
thinking that the man on the street actually
00:29:35.990 --> 00:29:38.190
has a say in the so-called democracies in which
00:29:38.190 --> 00:29:43.029
we live. They control the ruling class. That's
00:29:43.029 --> 00:29:45.789
the issue. It doesn't matter what I think, Ted
00:29:45.789 --> 00:29:48.170
Rall thinks, JT thinks, or 90% of the people in
00:29:48.170 --> 00:29:52.730
the chat think. What matters—well, the only
00:29:52.730 --> 00:29:54.990
reason—look, I agree with your point that the
00:29:54.990 --> 00:29:57.309
political class hasn't changed, but I think the
00:29:57.309 --> 00:30:00.210
issue is, in 10 years, is a political class still
00:30:00.210 --> 00:30:02.509
going to be the same political class? That's the
00:30:02.509 --> 00:30:06.049
question. People who are in their 20s now, in
00:30:06.049 --> 00:30:09.589
their 30s, their 40s, now going into politics, then
00:30:09.589 --> 00:30:11.589
what is going to be the position of those people
00:30:11.589 --> 00:30:13.390
when they go into it? Are they going to be rah-
00:30:13.390 --> 00:30:16.200
rah Israel? Are they going to be very skeptical
00:30:16.200 --> 00:30:19.940
of the state? That's the question. Because I
00:30:19.940 --> 00:30:22.000
don't believe this is a two-year change. I think
00:30:22.000 --> 00:30:24.200
this takes place over 10, 15 years. Oh,
00:30:24.220 --> 00:30:27.180
yeah. It'll be decades. But if there
00:30:27.180 --> 00:30:29.720
is change that happens, it will be after an economic
00:30:29.720 --> 00:30:32.660
collapse, when the banking class is brought down,
00:30:32.819 --> 00:30:36.579
the entire economic system fractures. And then
00:30:36.579 --> 00:30:38.720
normal people, for lack of a better word, have
00:30:38.720 --> 00:30:41.619
a chance to take back some of their power. If
00:30:41.619 --> 00:30:44.019
we just keep limping along right now, just slowly
00:30:44.019 --> 00:30:47.240
boiling the pot, then the people are going to
00:30:47.240 --> 00:30:48.660
continue sleeping. They're going to continue
00:30:48.660 --> 00:30:51.220
watching football, drinking their beer, watching
00:30:51.220 --> 00:30:53.839
their Netflix, hopping over to West Glacier Gaming,
00:30:53.940 --> 00:30:58.000
watching a gaming stream. What dear waste of
00:30:58.000 --> 00:31:02.000
time could there be? No, the people go on. Until
00:31:02.000 --> 00:31:06.390
there's real pain, where the people on the street—
00:31:06.609 --> 00:31:09.049
basically the ruling class has power until they
00:31:09.049 --> 00:31:12.470
don't. When the normal people figure out, hey,
00:31:12.589 --> 00:31:16.410
we can actually inflict change, that's when the
00:31:16.410 --> 00:31:18.809
ruling class breaks. The problem is how long
00:31:18.809 --> 00:31:21.309
is it going to take to get there? 10 years? 50?
00:31:21.509 --> 00:31:25.690
100? Never? That's the question. I'll pick 50.
00:31:26.900 --> 00:31:29.539
Give a good five at the most. Okay, but the thing
00:31:29.539 --> 00:31:33.460
is that—so look, you're—
00:31:33.460 --> 00:31:36.380
Robby's right and Robby's wrong, right? So on the
00:31:36.380 --> 00:31:39.380
one hand, it's certainly true that the ruling
00:31:39.380 --> 00:31:42.480
classes don't give a shit about us and would
00:31:42.480 --> 00:31:45.259
love to just ignore the people as much as they
00:31:45.259 --> 00:31:47.180
can. And for the most part, to the extent that
00:31:47.180 --> 00:31:50.430
they can, they do. But when there are certain
00:31:50.430 --> 00:31:52.589
crises that, for example, we're seeing
00:31:52.589 --> 00:31:58.450
in France right now, when things get spicy, they
00:31:58.450 --> 00:32:01.109
can't ignore it anymore. And I'm always—I was
00:32:01.109 --> 00:32:04.630
very taken by when I learned that—by the fact
00:32:04.630 --> 00:32:08.869
that even Nazi Germany,
00:32:08.869 --> 00:32:11.450
which was a totalitarian state that ruled by
00:32:11.450 --> 00:32:15.089
incredible fear, to the point where even
00:32:15.089 --> 00:32:17.269
if you were in the resistance, but your family
00:32:17.269 --> 00:32:21.630
wasn't, they would kill your family. Right.
00:32:21.630 --> 00:32:25.250
The German government nevertheless had a need
00:32:25.250 --> 00:32:29.099
to know what was going on, what people were thinking,
00:32:29.099 --> 00:32:31.980
to the point where they had squads of spies hang
00:32:31.980 --> 00:32:36.480
out in German bars and cafes, eavesdropping people's
00:32:36.480 --> 00:32:39.240
conversations about politics, like, hey, so what
00:32:39.240 --> 00:32:44.089
do you think about the Führer? And so why would
00:32:44.089 --> 00:32:47.029
a totalitarian state like Nazi Germany care about
00:32:47.029 --> 00:32:49.910
that? Well, obviously, because even if you're
00:32:49.910 --> 00:32:53.049
the leader of North Korea or whatever, the point
00:32:53.049 --> 00:32:55.450
is you have to care what the people think, because
00:32:55.450 --> 00:32:57.990
if you don't, eventually they might come for
00:32:57.990 --> 00:33:02.089
you, like Ceaușescu, right? So I'm just saying
00:33:02.089 --> 00:33:06.029
they have to care sometimes is all I'm saying.
00:33:07.630 --> 00:33:10.430
They don't care until they do care, but they
00:33:10.430 --> 00:33:15.319
have to care sometimes. We're the gopher tortoise
00:33:15.319 --> 00:33:19.380
room. Republicans are openly Jewish and secretly
00:33:19.380 --> 00:33:22.140
gay. Democrats are openly gay and secretly Jewish.
00:33:22.680 --> 00:33:25.339
I don't know about the Jewish part, but the gay
00:33:25.339 --> 00:33:29.700
part is pretty funny. Schrödinger's cat, Ted,
00:33:29.740 --> 00:33:31.779
is like my crazy uncle that believes in communism.
00:33:33.160 --> 00:33:38.359
Okay. That's all the comment was. Yeah, that's
00:33:38.359 --> 00:33:41.940
all the comment was. Douglas, the Israeli economy
00:33:41.940 --> 00:33:44.359
isn't in trouble. The U.S. economy is, and that's
00:33:44.359 --> 00:33:47.799
why they're in the shit. Partly. There's some
00:33:47.799 --> 00:33:50.660
truth to that. But, there is
00:33:50.660 --> 00:33:52.700
no Israeli economy without the United States
00:33:52.700 --> 00:33:57.079
economy. Did you see Putin's comments? Daniel
00:33:57.079 --> 00:33:59.099
wants to know about Israel. He repeated the
00:33:59.099 --> 00:34:01.640
same two-state solution line that Western politicians
00:34:01.640 --> 00:34:03.859
repeat and did not want to talk about imposing
00:34:03.859 --> 00:34:07.819
sanctions or break ties with Israel. I did not
00:34:07.819 --> 00:34:14.199
see that. I've seen that. So Putin has a very
00:34:14.199 --> 00:34:16.739
weird association with Israel. I've had this
00:34:16.739 --> 00:34:18.960
conversation on my show, and there have been
00:34:18.960 --> 00:34:22.030
some people who I think may go a little bit far.
00:34:24.710 --> 00:34:26.170
And he'll praise a little Putin in regards to
00:34:26.170 --> 00:34:28.869
Israel. But there is something there that is
00:34:28.869 --> 00:34:31.130
not necessarily part of the Russian part.
00:34:31.130 --> 00:34:33.570
Meaning, there's a distinction between Putin
00:34:33.570 --> 00:34:36.090
versus Russia in regards to Israel. It seems
00:34:36.090 --> 00:34:40.909
that way. And he seems to be far less,
00:34:41.949 --> 00:34:43.389
for example, they will put out statements. They're
00:34:43.389 --> 00:34:46.199
not going to do anything. And even when it was
00:34:46.199 --> 00:34:47.840
the missiles and everything else, Russia
00:34:47.840 --> 00:34:50.659
will protect Syria up to a point. But it was
00:34:50.659 --> 00:34:54.929
still hit by Israel, right? Providing that Israel
00:34:54.929 --> 00:34:57.050
didn't do so much damage. But even that, it's
00:34:57.050 --> 00:34:58.190
like, well, wait a minute, providing they do
00:34:58.190 --> 00:35:01.150
so much damage. It's a very weird relationship
00:35:01.150 --> 00:35:05.030
between Israel and Putin. What do you attribute
00:35:05.030 --> 00:35:09.409
that? Honestly, I don't know. I don't quite get
00:35:09.409 --> 00:35:11.829
it. Because in the conversation I had, I think
00:35:11.829 --> 00:35:12.989
I was making the point of saying this doesn't
00:35:12.989 --> 00:35:15.130
make sense. Because from my point of view, it's
00:35:15.130 --> 00:35:18.050
Israel is obviously a dog of the U.S. Why
00:35:18.050 --> 00:35:21.050
is Putin cozying up to a dog of the U.S. when
00:35:21.289 --> 00:35:23.510
they were being attacked by the same U.S.? Because
00:35:23.510 --> 00:35:27.710
the Soviet Union actually had a mixed relationship
00:35:27.710 --> 00:35:31.659
with Israel too, right? This is actually
00:35:31.659 --> 00:35:33.519
an easy question. Half of the Israeli population
00:35:33.519 --> 00:35:36.019
is Russian. Well, that's it. Yeah, that's what I
00:35:36.019 --> 00:35:40.000
mean. Let's be honest. Why did Putin invade Ukraine?
00:35:40.000 --> 00:35:43.239
There's two reasons. One, because
00:35:43.239 --> 00:35:44.900
they were flirting with the idea of joining NATO. It's
00:35:44.900 --> 00:35:46.920
never going to happen. Number two, because the
00:35:46.920 --> 00:35:51.019
Yukis were attacking ethnic Russians. So there
00:35:51.019 --> 00:35:54.239
you go. The Russian state is one thing. The Russian
00:35:54.239 --> 00:35:56.579
nation is another. The nation is the people as
00:35:56.579 --> 00:35:59.019
a whole. Putin regards himself as the protector
00:35:59.019 --> 00:36:02.519
of the Russian nation, not the state, the nation.
00:36:02.860 --> 00:36:05.900
And so if half of your population is—one thing,
00:36:05.960 --> 00:36:07.780
I would just strip the Russian citizenship and
00:36:07.780 --> 00:36:09.900
be done with them. You cannot serve two masters.
00:36:10.039 --> 00:36:13.980
That's why I'm opposed to dual citizenship. It's
00:36:13.980 --> 00:36:15.980
30%. It's not half. I don't think it's half of
00:36:15.980 --> 00:36:19.050
30%, but whatever. How are you going
00:36:19.050 --> 00:36:21.010
to count it? Are you going to count dual citizens
00:36:21.010 --> 00:36:22.670
on other stuff? Who the hell knows? I'll
00:36:22.670 --> 00:36:27.150
round up. The point is that Russia plays nice
00:36:27.150 --> 00:36:29.829
with them because a significant population, just
00:36:29.829 --> 00:36:34.530
say that, are Russians. That's why. And Putin
00:36:34.530 --> 00:36:39.230
has no balls. And that too. Putin has some balls.
00:36:41.190 --> 00:36:44.030
But he's at ease. He's more careful than he is
00:36:44.030 --> 00:36:47.570
brave. He's very cautious. Yeah, two-state solution
00:36:47.570 --> 00:36:51.289
is ridiculous. Two-state solution is dead.
00:36:51.289 --> 00:36:54.170
Nobody wants it. So none of the parties
00:36:54.170 --> 00:36:56.690
involved want it. And besides which, Israel has
00:36:56.690 --> 00:36:59.070
lost its right. Any right that it ever had to
00:36:59.070 --> 00:37:03.190
exist, which was none, it lost completely. And
00:37:03.190 --> 00:37:05.809
it's completely discredited. It
00:37:05.809 --> 00:37:08.289
can't be trusted. It was created by the world.
00:37:08.389 --> 00:37:11.130
It should be uncreated by the world.
00:37:11.150 --> 00:37:15.440
We need a democratic Republic of Palestine. I
00:37:15.440 --> 00:37:18.219
don't think that the people who live there, including
00:37:18.219 --> 00:37:21.420
Israeli Jews, should be expelled. But I think
00:37:21.420 --> 00:37:23.639
they should be one person, one vote,
00:37:23.760 --> 00:37:29.280
you guys work it out. That's easier
00:37:29.280 --> 00:37:32.800
said than done. You've just massacred a large
00:37:32.800 --> 00:37:35.539
part of the population. And now, hey, let's be
00:37:35.539 --> 00:37:40.840
kumbaya. We do have the South Africa
00:37:40.840 --> 00:37:44.500
model, right? That's highly imperfect, but we
00:37:44.500 --> 00:37:47.679
do know it is possible for a post-apartheid
00:37:47.679 --> 00:37:53.300
state to go along without another genocide, right?
00:37:53.460 --> 00:37:55.949
This is more like a German model. For
00:37:55.949 --> 00:38:00.599
one, how do you re-educate those lunatics in
00:38:00.599 --> 00:38:03.929
Israel? There's that. Well, you would definitely
00:38:03.929 --> 00:38:05.849
have to have some kind of truth and reconciliation
00:38:05.849 --> 00:38:09.170
style process. You'd have to have, for the worst
00:38:09.170 --> 00:38:11.369
offenders, the people who were at the top. This
00:38:11.369 --> 00:38:14.110
would be like Nuremberg, right? The people, obviously
00:38:14.110 --> 00:38:17.969
cabinet members, Israeli generals, Netanyahu,
00:38:18.090 --> 00:38:20.050
people like that. They all have to be put on
00:38:20.050 --> 00:38:23.309
trial. You have to have war crimes trials for
00:38:23.309 --> 00:38:26.849
those people. But for ordinary IDF idiot who
00:38:26.849 --> 00:38:29.960
went to Gaza as a private, now that person
00:38:29.960 --> 00:38:33.139
just needs some re-education. Yeah, but the problem
00:38:33.139 --> 00:38:36.860
is this is not like the Germans who claim they
00:38:36.860 --> 00:38:41.260
didn't know, meaning it's not like, oh, Hans,
00:38:41.260 --> 00:38:45.400
I never knew. We knew. It smelled. We knew it smelled
00:38:45.400 --> 00:38:48.199
funky by the so-called sausage factory, getting
00:38:48.199 --> 00:38:53.320
killed, et cetera. How on earth does the Israeli population
00:38:53.320 --> 00:38:57.960
say that? Well, South Africa, certainly the white
00:38:57.960 --> 00:39:00.320
South Africa, the Afrikaners, certainly knew how
00:39:00.320 --> 00:39:02.719
Blacks were treated. No question. They
00:39:02.719 --> 00:39:04.739
saw it every day. I know, but there's a difference
00:39:04.739 --> 00:39:06.699
between, okay, we're creating an apartheid state
00:39:06.699 --> 00:39:09.960
versus we're committing a genocide. We are slaughtering
00:39:09.960 --> 00:39:12.400
large numbers of women. There's both of those
00:39:12.400 --> 00:39:17.119
issues. Yeah. By the way, just very quietly the
00:39:17.119 --> 00:39:21.139
other day, NPR stated that the population of
00:39:21.139 --> 00:39:25.429
Gaza is currently 1.7 million. It was pre-war
00:39:25.429 --> 00:39:29.710
2.3 million. The borders are closed. You do the
00:39:29.710 --> 00:39:36.380
math. 500, right? Yeah, 600,000. So 2.2, and it
00:39:36.380 --> 00:39:41.800
says 1.7. Well, some—it was 2.3. Oh, okay. Yeah.
00:39:41.800 --> 00:39:44.219
Obviously it's an estimate. Israel
00:39:44.219 --> 00:39:47.639
knows exactly to the man, right? But anyway,
00:39:47.639 --> 00:39:50.500
so look, before we move on here, I do.
00:39:50.500 --> 00:39:53.940
So we're kind of in agreement that Israel
00:39:53.940 --> 00:39:57.099
really lost. Do you think they have any
00:39:57.099 --> 00:39:59.559
prospects of turning this around? I don't see
00:39:59.559 --> 00:40:03.780
it. I don't see how. But if you were—could
00:40:04.070 --> 00:40:06.110
be. We don't have a crystal ball here, but
00:40:06.110 --> 00:40:07.750
it's kind of the job. That's kind of
00:40:07.750 --> 00:40:09.429
what this show is trying to do, is predict the
00:40:09.429 --> 00:40:13.050
future. I don't see any
00:40:13.050 --> 00:40:16.289
world in which the Israelis are able to turn
00:40:16.960 --> 00:40:18.639
this around for them in terms of international
00:40:18.639 --> 00:40:22.579
public opinion, which they desperately need. No,
00:40:23.150 --> 00:40:25.130
not for public opinion. They've lost a generation,
00:40:25.130 --> 00:40:30.389
if not more. If
00:40:30.389 --> 00:40:33.760
you think of a show that you used
00:40:33.760 --> 00:40:36.579
to watch as a child, whatever that show is, maybe
00:40:36.579 --> 00:40:40.280
it was a movie, maybe it was a TV show, and or
00:40:41.150 --> 00:40:42.710
let's say think of a girl that you used to know
00:40:42.710 --> 00:40:46.610
when she was in high school, and you see her 40
00:40:46.610 --> 00:40:49.829
years later. She's kind of still the girl
00:40:49.829 --> 00:40:52.869
in high school to you. It's the wildest thing.
00:40:53.119 --> 00:40:56.400
It's like they're fixed in time that you knew
00:40:56.400 --> 00:40:58.820
them. They might have had a divorce. They might
00:40:58.820 --> 00:41:00.400
have had a husband die. Hell, they might have
00:41:00.400 --> 00:41:03.320
went to prison. They might have had a drug addiction
00:41:03.320 --> 00:41:04.559
and gotten over it. They might have had a drug
00:41:04.559 --> 00:41:06.780
addiction. They might have had a string of men
00:41:06.780 --> 00:41:09.159
that treated them poorly. It could be anything,
00:41:09.239 --> 00:41:11.559
right? You're still the girl that you knew in
00:41:11.559 --> 00:41:15.199
high school. Israel is going to be that horrible
00:41:15.199 --> 00:41:18.719
shrew that murdered somebody in the high school
00:41:18.719 --> 00:41:22.079
lawn that everybody watched. And then
00:41:22.079 --> 00:41:24.280
everybody goes away with remembering that was
00:41:24.280 --> 00:41:26.380
the killer. That's who Israel is going to be.
00:41:26.579 --> 00:41:30.099
Just on a radical exponential scale. Yeah, especially
00:41:30.099 --> 00:41:34.440
because they can't. They're never going to go
00:41:34.440 --> 00:41:37.619
the German route and apologize profusely over
00:41:37.619 --> 00:41:40.360
and over and over again, right? And put it in
00:41:40.360 --> 00:41:42.719
their textbooks and promise to never do it again
00:41:42.719 --> 00:41:46.139
and build memorials and apologize and make restitution.
00:41:46.380 --> 00:41:47.920
They're not going to do any of those things.
00:41:48.139 --> 00:41:50.849
Because they agree. This is not like, oh
00:41:50.849 --> 00:41:52.369
my God, I can't believe this is what we've done.
00:41:53.130 --> 00:41:56.349
It's, even let's say Netanyahu is the vessel
00:41:56.349 --> 00:41:57.710
for this because they're going to blame him as
00:41:57.710 --> 00:41:59.929
the vessel. Oh my God, I can't believe this is
00:41:59.929 --> 00:42:01.789
what Netanyahu did. All of them agree. Yeah,
00:42:01.809 --> 00:42:03.809
that's the Bret Stephens in the New York Times
00:42:03.809 --> 00:42:06.409
take all the time. Oh, you just have to
00:42:06.409 --> 00:42:08.550
get rid of Netanyahu and then everything's fine.
00:42:08.690 --> 00:42:12.170
Dude, you are so high. No, everybody agreed.
00:42:13.389 --> 00:42:17.079
Right? This is not one guy did this. This
00:42:17.079 --> 00:42:19.559
is one guy did this. He was pushing out an open
00:42:19.559 --> 00:42:24.269
door, right? Yeah, yeah. It's amazing. There
00:42:24.269 --> 00:42:27.090
is no way out of that box. It's not a situation where
00:42:27.090 --> 00:42:29.010
they could say we didn't know, because you knew.
00:42:29.010 --> 00:42:31.289
Everybody knew. It's not a situation where you
00:42:31.289 --> 00:42:32.929
could say it was just him. Well, that's not the
00:42:32.929 --> 00:42:36.059
case, because all of you agreed. How do you fix
00:42:36.059 --> 00:42:39.159
that entity? I have no idea. The German model doesn't
00:42:39.159 --> 00:42:41.179
even work for that, because again, everybody knew
00:42:41.179 --> 00:42:43.340
and everybody agreed all the way, and the government
00:42:43.340 --> 00:42:46.130
changed, and the style of government changed.
00:42:46.130 --> 00:42:49.349
The country was invaded by two superpowers.
00:42:49.349 --> 00:42:52.610
It was divvied up. It was divided into completely
00:42:52.610 --> 00:42:56.969
new forms of government. Everyone in the old
00:42:56.969 --> 00:43:00.190
government was purged and gone, denazified.
00:43:00.190 --> 00:43:03.130
There were war crimes trials. That's not
00:43:03.130 --> 00:43:06.210
good. That would need to happen in Israel too.
00:43:06.210 --> 00:43:10.119
Here's the difference. The vast majority of
00:43:10.119 --> 00:43:13.820
the population knows what's going on and they
00:43:13.820 --> 00:43:17.400
support it. The society itself is pathogenic and
00:43:17.400 --> 00:43:19.760
it needs to be destroyed. It needs to be burned
00:43:19.760 --> 00:43:24.019
to the ground. Yeah, the society is
00:43:24.019 --> 00:43:28.239
toxic and corrupt. It is broken and up beyond
00:43:28.239 --> 00:43:31.619
belief. Yeah, I don't know. It's an
00:43:31.619 --> 00:43:35.659
apartheid. Look, any kind of ethno—
00:43:35.659 --> 00:43:40.650
any state based on ethnic superiority has
00:43:40.650 --> 00:43:44.369
no place in the modern era. And it's not viable.
00:43:45.010 --> 00:43:52.309
Agreed. And one last point to it. See, the problem
00:43:52.309 --> 00:43:54.929
is the power structure is set up in a way that
00:43:54.929 --> 00:43:57.409
makes it difficult to do that. Meaning it makes
00:43:57.409 --> 00:43:59.289
it difficult to say we're going to have truth
00:43:59.289 --> 00:44:01.349
and reconciliation. Okay, but how do you do that
00:44:01.349 --> 00:44:03.429
when everybody agrees with what was taking place?
00:44:03.650 --> 00:44:05.820
Keep in mind, this is... In a world where
00:44:05.820 --> 00:44:07.480
the overwhelming majority of the planet say rape
00:44:07.480 --> 00:44:09.280
is wrong and rape is punished. Hell, you could
00:44:09.280 --> 00:44:10.679
be punished by death in certain places. You get
00:44:10.679 --> 00:44:13.420
stoned in certain locations, right? Sure. They
00:44:13.420 --> 00:44:16.900
watched a man raped on video. And 60% of the
00:44:16.900 --> 00:44:19.840
population said that's fair game. Yeah, that's
00:44:19.840 --> 00:44:23.820
cool. And I always use that because that is so
00:44:23.820 --> 00:44:27.280
mind-blowing. It's one thing. Because
00:44:27.280 --> 00:44:31.039
it's so depraved. It's so depraved. And for everybody
00:44:31.039 --> 00:44:33.340
to watch and be like, gang rape should be okay
00:44:33.340 --> 00:44:35.900
against Palestinians. It's like, all right. This
00:44:35.900 --> 00:44:40.199
society shouldn't exist. Yeah, it's just breathtaking.
00:44:40.199 --> 00:44:43.659
Calling it broken isn't really fair because
00:44:43.659 --> 00:44:46.500
that implies that it was ever not broken at some
00:44:46.500 --> 00:44:50.019
point, and that's just not true. It was
00:44:50.019 --> 00:44:53.539
a bad seed from the very beginning. All right,
00:44:53.539 --> 00:44:55.599
so what do I talk about? You think it was a bad
00:44:55.599 --> 00:44:59.440
seed because of the genocide? And I think
00:44:59.440 --> 00:45:01.559
it was a bad seed from the idea that you're
00:45:01.559 --> 00:45:03.440
coming. There's so many
00:45:03.440 --> 00:45:05.960
original sins in this creation of the state
00:45:05.960 --> 00:45:08.659
of Israel, right? But first and
00:45:08.659 --> 00:45:10.300
foremost, the idea that you're going to create
00:45:10.300 --> 00:45:13.519
a state that's based on a religion where
00:45:13.519 --> 00:45:15.099
you're going to say this religion, even though
00:45:15.099 --> 00:45:17.780
it's a minority, is going to inherently always
00:45:17.780 --> 00:45:20.619
be in charge. We're going to put its symbol on
00:45:20.619 --> 00:45:23.780
the flag and all other religions need not apply,
00:45:23.780 --> 00:45:25.960
no matter how much of a population they represent.
00:45:26.440 --> 00:45:30.119
That's inherently that's that.
00:45:30.119 --> 00:45:32.840
And then not to mention coming in and
00:45:32.840 --> 00:45:36.179
stealing other people's land and territory.
00:45:36.179 --> 00:45:37.739
It's hilarious how the Israelis are like,
00:45:37.739 --> 00:45:40.920
oh, the Arab countries started it. Look, if
00:45:40.920 --> 00:45:44.059
you come into my house and then you say, oh, I'll
00:45:44.059 --> 00:45:47.519
share your house with you, and I know I'm going
00:45:47.519 --> 00:45:52.340
to kill you if I can, and now I think
00:45:52.340 --> 00:45:54.960
the law is going to say that you started it, not
00:45:54.960 --> 00:45:56.980
me. They're going to say that's a home invasion.
00:45:57.559 --> 00:45:59.920
Raul was standing his ground and defending himself
00:45:59.920 --> 00:46:02.340
in his own house. And even in a liberal state
00:46:02.340 --> 00:46:06.039
like New York, I'm allowed to shoot you. So it's
00:46:06.039 --> 00:46:11.489
ridiculous. I agree. All
00:46:11.489 --> 00:46:13.909
right. I don't know what to do about it. And
00:46:13.909 --> 00:46:16.630
maybe it collapses on its own merits. But I agree
00:46:16.630 --> 00:46:19.030
with you that they've lost this idea of legitimacy
00:46:19.030 --> 00:46:21.010
and credibility from the standpoint of people
00:46:21.010 --> 00:46:22.590
looking at them. They've become a pariah state.
00:46:22.789 --> 00:46:24.730
The people who consider themselves Israelis have
00:46:24.730 --> 00:46:26.570
become pariahs in and of itself just because
00:46:26.570 --> 00:46:31.000
so many of them support this genocide. Yeah,
00:46:31.000 --> 00:46:33.400
I don't—the question becomes, what does that turn
00:46:33.400 --> 00:46:36.409
into materially from the standpoint of the destruction
00:46:36.409 --> 00:46:38.730
of the state? You ask the question whether or
00:46:38.730 --> 00:46:41.170
not they could turn this around from optics. No.
00:46:41.170 --> 00:46:43.309
Can they maintain the integrity of the state
00:46:43.309 --> 00:46:46.909
if Iran falls, for example? Meaning there
00:46:46.909 --> 00:46:48.469
has to be a lot of stuff that takes place for
00:46:48.469 --> 00:46:51.329
them. A lot of stuff has to happen,
00:46:51.329 --> 00:46:56.590
right? No. Oh, so my cat's meowing. I'll have to
00:46:56.590 --> 00:46:59.460
let him out. But all right, so we just—it's
00:46:59.460 --> 00:47:01.659
just a reminder, and for everybody who's watching,
00:47:01.659 --> 00:47:03.380
thank you so much for being here on DeProgram
00:47:03.380 --> 00:47:05.420
with Ted Rall and Jamarl Thomas. We're going till
00:47:05.420 --> 00:47:07.659
11 o'clock Eastern. We have an hour and 15 minutes
00:47:07.659 --> 00:47:11.780
left in the show. So what shall we move to
00:47:11.780 --> 00:47:15.400
for next? That crazy corrupt CIA agent, the
00:47:15.400 --> 00:47:19.480
EU, Lafayette Park, or Christa Pike? Let's go to
00:47:19.480 --> 00:47:21.320
Christa Pike, because I think this
00:47:21.320 --> 00:47:25.949
is always contentious. I like contentious. All
00:47:25.949 --> 00:47:29.650
right. Yeah, as spicy as you would say. What
00:47:29.650 --> 00:47:35.840
should happen to her? Should she be let go? Well,
00:47:35.920 --> 00:47:38.199
I think she should probably be released, which
00:47:38.199 --> 00:47:41.039
is probably controversial. But I think the state
00:47:41.039 --> 00:47:43.559
has fucked up. So first of all, I wanted to talk
00:47:43.559 --> 00:47:44.840
about something that, when you, me,
00:47:44.840 --> 00:47:49.150
and Robby talked about this before. We talk
00:47:49.150 --> 00:47:51.989
about redemption. And I got an email from one
00:47:51.989 --> 00:47:54.650
of our regular listeners who is a former law
00:47:54.650 --> 00:47:57.130
enforcement officer who said that he was very
00:47:57.130 --> 00:47:59.349
right-wing and very—I don't know, actually,
00:47:59.389 --> 00:48:00.630
I don't want to put words in his mouth. He didn't
00:48:00.630 --> 00:48:02.269
say he was right-wing, but he sounded like a
00:48:02.269 --> 00:48:04.570
very traditional law enforcement officer. He's
00:48:04.570 --> 00:48:06.929
probably listening or watching right now. And
00:48:06.929 --> 00:48:10.849
he said that basically he came to believe after
00:48:10.849 --> 00:48:13.250
being exposed to people who were on death row
00:48:13.250 --> 00:48:17.469
that the vast majority of them—he had the same
00:48:17.469 --> 00:48:19.909
take I did when I visited San Quentin and visited
00:48:19.909 --> 00:48:23.369
all the lifers. And basically it was like this.
00:48:23.750 --> 00:48:26.489
Almost all of them had the same story to tell,
00:48:26.610 --> 00:48:31.150
which was I was 18, 19, 20, or 21 years old, specifically
00:48:31.150 --> 00:48:38.070
those ages. I was drunk and/or high and/or stupid.
00:48:38.650 --> 00:48:42.429
And I did this incredibly violent, insane thing
00:48:42.429 --> 00:48:45.099
that hurt or killed—well, that killed. They killed
00:48:45.099 --> 00:48:49.969
someone. You meet these people in their 40s
00:48:49.969 --> 00:48:54.869
or 50s or 60s or 70s, and you can plainly see
00:48:54.869 --> 00:48:58.869
that this is not them trying to
00:48:58.869 --> 00:49:01.630
jawbone their way out of responsibility. It
00:49:01.630 --> 00:49:04.929
is just a stone-cold solid fact that you could
00:49:04.929 --> 00:49:08.090
bet your entire—everything you own and everything
00:49:08.090 --> 00:49:11.510
you ever could own on they would never do anything
00:49:11.510 --> 00:49:14.309
like that now. There's just not the same person.
00:49:14.869 --> 00:49:17.809
Nobody's the same person at 48 as they were at
00:49:17.809 --> 00:49:21.789
18. And it's, you're just—your hormones
00:49:21.789 --> 00:49:24.730
are different. You're wired differently. You're
00:49:24.730 --> 00:49:27.329
just not the same animal in the same way that
00:49:27.329 --> 00:49:30.610
a kitten is not the same thing as an 11-
00:49:30.610 --> 00:49:32.889
year-old cat. There's just not the same animal.
00:49:33.809 --> 00:49:38.369
It's, would you—and I think that the
00:49:38.369 --> 00:49:42.110
Christa Pike that did this, that murdered her
00:49:42.699 --> 00:49:46.659
friend slash acquaintance gratuitously for no—
00:49:46.659 --> 00:49:49.320
for the stupidest of all reasons, in the cruelest
00:49:49.320 --> 00:49:52.980
of all ways, is not alive anymore. She died years
00:49:52.980 --> 00:49:58.519
ago. You're punishing someone else, right? And
00:49:58.519 --> 00:50:01.860
I guess it's almost if you had
00:50:01.860 --> 00:50:04.940
killed her back then, it would make more sense.
00:50:04.940 --> 00:50:08.639
But you didn't. You let—because
00:50:08.639 --> 00:50:10.820
of the nature of our system, we let this drag
00:50:10.820 --> 00:50:16.119
on for decades, and now what are you doing?
00:50:16.119 --> 00:50:19.360
What is the point of this? The only point
00:50:19.360 --> 00:50:22.639
of it, as far as I can see, is to give some satisfaction
00:50:22.639 --> 00:50:26.860
to some families of the victims that some
00:50:26.860 --> 00:50:29.280
vengeance has been wrought, because I'd say
00:50:29.280 --> 00:50:31.380
some, because some families don't want it.
00:50:31.380 --> 00:50:36.380
And so, and I'm like, I don't think that's enough
00:50:36.380 --> 00:50:39.840
of a societal interest. I think it's, I care
00:50:39.840 --> 00:50:42.679
about those families, but when you're enacting
00:50:42.679 --> 00:50:45.599
justice, justice isn't just about the victims.
00:50:46.059 --> 00:50:49.940
When you make car theft illegal, it's not just
00:50:49.940 --> 00:50:52.699
about punishing the person who stole your car.
00:50:52.880 --> 00:50:55.199
You're trying to make people not steal cars.
00:50:55.480 --> 00:50:58.159
You're trying to make society generally safer.
00:50:59.300 --> 00:51:02.960
This doesn't benefit any of those things. The
00:51:02.960 --> 00:51:07.059
only thing it accomplishes is making some people's
00:51:07.059 --> 00:51:10.869
fee-fees better. And people's feelings are important.
00:51:11.289 --> 00:51:13.329
Victims' feelings are important. But I don't
00:51:13.329 --> 00:51:16.190
think they balance out to over 51% of the consideration
00:51:16.190 --> 00:51:21.690
here. And this woman, she's been through hell,
00:51:21.769 --> 00:51:25.050
okay? God, what they put her through.
00:51:25.670 --> 00:51:27.469
Really, they want to fucking kill her now? They
00:51:27.469 --> 00:51:29.929
don't even know how to kill her. They tried to
00:51:29.929 --> 00:51:31.570
kill someone else in the state of Tennessee doing
00:51:31.570 --> 00:51:33.869
the same thing earlier this year. They still
00:51:33.869 --> 00:51:35.989
haven't figured out how to kill him now. She
00:51:35.989 --> 00:51:41.219
has to be firing-squadded or hung. They refused.
00:51:41.780 --> 00:51:45.280
She's doing her best to go along with
00:51:45.280 --> 00:51:47.260
the death thing. She even tried to tell them
00:51:47.260 --> 00:51:50.739
where to put the needle in. At this point,
00:51:50.820 --> 00:51:55.719
I'm on team Christa Pike. Her lawyers are asking
00:51:55.719 --> 00:51:59.519
the court to commute her sentence to life in
00:51:59.519 --> 00:52:02.760
prison without parole. That seems like the least
00:52:02.760 --> 00:52:07.309
they can do. I understand your argument. And
00:52:07.309 --> 00:52:12.110
I understand your case. And it makes sense. If
00:52:12.110 --> 00:52:18.739
you do—people change, is there redemption? Do
00:52:18.739 --> 00:52:21.340
people become something else? And I think it's
00:52:21.340 --> 00:52:24.000
fair to say, and I think you're right, that anytime
00:52:24.000 --> 00:52:27.480
somebody is in a particular environment, those
00:52:27.480 --> 00:52:29.119
people take on the attributes of the environment.
00:52:29.340 --> 00:52:31.360
And yes, they're who they are, but they're responding
00:52:31.360 --> 00:52:33.559
to a particular environment. And you have some
00:52:33.559 --> 00:52:35.480
environments that people are pointed to that
00:52:35.480 --> 00:52:39.059
are far more difficult than others, and people
00:52:39.059 --> 00:52:41.239
would have to play those positions much better.
00:52:41.440 --> 00:52:43.679
Otherwise, they can end up in a situation where
00:52:43.679 --> 00:52:46.780
they end up killing somebody. And that can take
00:52:46.780 --> 00:52:48.559
place at 18, as you point out. They're kids,
00:52:48.739 --> 00:52:51.420
right? I consider 18-year-olds kids. They're
00:52:51.420 --> 00:52:53.679
kids, especially in the United States. They're
00:52:53.679 --> 00:52:55.239
kids. But there's so many kids that make it through
00:52:55.239 --> 00:52:58.909
life without killing somebody. And
00:52:58.989 --> 00:53:03.599
it's a life, right? And I feel like a right-winger
00:53:03.599 --> 00:53:07.980
making this argument. The punishment of it, you
00:53:07.980 --> 00:53:11.809
can make a case. It's not always specific up
00:53:11.809 --> 00:53:14.590
until the point of the person, meaning you are
00:53:14.590 --> 00:53:16.210
being punished. Yes, you committed a murder.
00:53:16.409 --> 00:53:18.369
Yes, this punishment sucks because you're in
00:53:18.369 --> 00:53:21.789
jail for X amount of time. Again, yes. But at
00:53:21.789 --> 00:53:23.889
some point, if indeed the person changes and
00:53:23.889 --> 00:53:25.289
there's a temperamental change because of the
00:53:25.289 --> 00:53:27.650
environment that the person is in, you can make
00:53:27.650 --> 00:53:29.849
an argument that part of the punishment is that
00:53:29.849 --> 00:53:33.000
also. That sounds messed up, but you can make
00:53:33.000 --> 00:53:36.469
that case that, look, your punishment wasn't
00:53:36.840 --> 00:53:39.679
for you to be in a state of mind where you realize
00:53:39.679 --> 00:53:41.659
you get it and you understand it and it's your
00:53:41.659 --> 00:53:44.579
fault that you killed somebody. It goes beyond
00:53:44.579 --> 00:53:46.900
that point. It's the punishment that continues
00:53:46.900 --> 00:53:49.739
on. It doesn't matter if you've changed into
00:53:49.739 --> 00:53:51.619
a different person. The entire point of the punishment
00:53:51.619 --> 00:53:55.280
is to be punishment that exceeds but X amount.
00:53:55.719 --> 00:53:57.820
Now, you can make the case of saying, well, wait
00:53:57.820 --> 00:54:02.230
a minute. What interest is it of the state to
00:54:02.230 --> 00:54:03.829
continuously punish somebody that has fundamentally
00:54:03.829 --> 00:54:06.030
changed from who they are? How would the state
00:54:06.030 --> 00:54:09.210
know? How does the state know that that person
00:54:09.210 --> 00:54:11.889
has changed? I've seen so many people that have
00:54:11.889 --> 00:54:15.869
been incarcerated over the course of their life,
00:54:15.929 --> 00:54:19.690
and they keep going back with crimes escalating
00:54:19.690 --> 00:54:22.710
in intensity over and over and over again. And
00:54:22.710 --> 00:54:24.510
I would wager to you that if people went to the
00:54:24.510 --> 00:54:25.849
prison and they were talking to them in prison,
00:54:25.929 --> 00:54:28.409
they seem very nice people in prison, right?
00:54:28.809 --> 00:54:31.329
They seem very nice here. They seem like they've
00:54:31.329 --> 00:54:33.949
made a change. Maybe they have. How would I know?
00:54:34.030 --> 00:54:36.219
How would the state know? As you pointed out,
00:54:36.280 --> 00:54:37.820
the state has an interest of keeping people safe.
00:54:38.159 --> 00:54:40.500
How does the state know when somebody has committed
00:54:40.500 --> 00:54:43.539
a violent murder that that person has fundamentally
00:54:43.539 --> 00:54:45.800
changed, or that the environment that the person
00:54:45.800 --> 00:54:48.440
is in is the conduit for that change, and that
00:54:48.440 --> 00:54:51.269
that change sticks going forward? If they're
00:54:51.269 --> 00:54:55.559
in their 60s, maybe, right? Some old man, geriatric
00:54:55.559 --> 00:54:57.420
out there like Batman trying to kill somebody.
00:54:58.920 --> 00:55:02.219
In their 40s and 30s and 20s, I have no idea.
00:55:02.599 --> 00:55:04.489
There's no way for me to know that. And it's
00:55:04.489 --> 00:55:06.289
the way for me to peer into the soul of the individual
00:55:06.289 --> 00:55:07.889
to see whether that person has changed. I have
00:55:07.889 --> 00:55:09.730
family members that acted that way, by the way,
00:55:09.769 --> 00:55:14.610
that the crimes got worse and worse and worse.
00:55:14.769 --> 00:55:16.429
Every time they were let out of prison, they
00:55:16.429 --> 00:55:19.449
got more and more violent up to the point where
00:55:19.449 --> 00:55:21.230
they just stayed in prison because they committed
00:55:21.230 --> 00:55:26.650
a murder. Right. I'm a hard-ass on this, maybe.
00:55:27.110 --> 00:55:29.269
And I don't want to be. I want to believe
00:55:29.269 --> 00:55:32.530
in this idea of redemption. But what does that
00:55:32.530 --> 00:55:38.420
mean? Right. And I think your
00:55:38.420 --> 00:55:40.019
point is, well, society has to give people a chance.
00:55:40.019 --> 00:55:44.039
I think that's your point. Yeah. Well, if not—
00:55:44.039 --> 00:55:47.599
look, if we're just going to say that
00:55:47.599 --> 00:55:50.139
people are disposable, and look, I'm not—
00:55:50.139 --> 00:55:52.880
I'm not pretending that this is an easy or uncomplicated
00:55:52.880 --> 00:55:55.880
issue. It's not. And look,
00:55:55.880 --> 00:55:58.219
think about the Willie Horton ad that was used
00:55:58.219 --> 00:56:01.239
to defeat Dukakis in 1988, and what was the
00:56:01.239 --> 00:56:03.460
ad about? We always talk about how it was race-
00:56:03.460 --> 00:56:05.719
baiting, and that's what we emphasize, right? But
00:56:05.719 --> 00:56:07.780
what it was basically boiled down to was that
00:56:07.780 --> 00:56:09.820
Michael Dukakis, as governor of Massachusetts,
00:56:09.820 --> 00:56:13.500
had signed off on the parole of Willie Horton.
00:56:13.500 --> 00:56:15.800
He went out and reoffended and killed again,
00:56:15.800 --> 00:56:18.460
right? So therefore the person that he killed
00:56:18.460 --> 00:56:21.179
again, in a way, was partly responsible. Michael
00:56:21.179 --> 00:56:23.380
Dukakis was partly responsible for that happening.
00:56:23.840 --> 00:56:26.139
The point is, when you parole someone
00:56:26.139 --> 00:56:29.139
or you let them go, there is—or even if you
00:56:29.139 --> 00:56:30.719
don't let them go, they might kill someone in
00:56:30.719 --> 00:56:33.619
prison. They might reoffend. It is true that
00:56:33.619 --> 00:56:36.000
you don't know what's in someone's heart, or,
00:56:36.039 --> 00:56:37.780
hell, they might not even know what's
00:56:37.780 --> 00:56:39.920
in their heart. They might not intend to reoffend,
00:56:39.940 --> 00:56:42.400
but they might just go out and do that. And so
00:56:42.400 --> 00:56:46.260
you're taking a gamble, for sure.
00:56:46.260 --> 00:56:48.849
Obviously you'll have psychologists and
00:56:48.849 --> 00:56:51.389
other—and criminologists and other experts
00:56:51.389 --> 00:56:55.010
try to assess whether this person has been redeemed
00:56:55.010 --> 00:56:59.989
or not, but you can't know. And so if I
00:56:59.989 --> 00:57:02.889
think the thing is, we have—the truth is that
00:57:02.889 --> 00:57:06.329
we've let these people survive 10, 20, 30 years
00:57:06.329 --> 00:57:09.369
in prison behind bars beyond the point of
00:57:09.369 --> 00:57:13.119
when they committed these crimes. Now, that's fucked
00:57:13.119 --> 00:57:16.260
up, okay? Because they're now different. So if
00:57:16.260 --> 00:57:20.429
you wanted to say these people are—we've decided
00:57:20.429 --> 00:57:23.690
there's nothing we can do for them or about them,
00:57:23.829 --> 00:57:26.230
then we should just kill them right away and
00:57:26.230 --> 00:57:29.389
be done with it. Save the taxpayers the money
00:57:29.389 --> 00:57:32.769
of incarcerating them. Save them the torture
00:57:32.769 --> 00:57:35.710
of being subjected to all those years
00:57:35.710 --> 00:57:39.949
behind bars. Save the families of the victims
00:57:40.150 --> 00:57:42.989
years of waiting for justice slash retribution.
00:57:43.469 --> 00:57:47.039
Just kill them. I guess I'm saying that's part
00:57:47.039 --> 00:57:51.420
of the cost. If my uncle, for example, drunk-
00:57:51.420 --> 00:57:54.590
drives, he gets caught. He drunk-drives again,
00:57:54.630 --> 00:57:56.349
he gets caught. He drunk-drives again, he gets
00:57:56.349 --> 00:57:59.750
caught. And then they take his license. And then
00:57:59.750 --> 00:58:00.849
in order to get it back, you have to jump through
00:58:00.849 --> 00:58:02.969
all of these hoops. And it takes years to do
00:58:02.969 --> 00:58:06.889
it. And you say to yourself, God damn, I'm never
00:58:06.889 --> 00:58:10.090
going to do this again. I get the lesson. Give
00:58:10.090 --> 00:58:12.210
me my license. And it takes another two years.
00:58:12.550 --> 00:58:16.010
It's part of the cost. It's the
00:58:16.030 --> 00:58:19.849
look. The prison sentence in and of itself
00:58:19.849 --> 00:58:22.570
is part of the cost. The fact that you're in
00:58:22.570 --> 00:58:25.349
there and you change and you mature. You weren't
00:58:25.349 --> 00:58:27.789
sentenced to prison followed by—you weren't—
00:58:27.829 --> 00:58:29.630
when you're sentenced to capital punishment,
00:58:29.849 --> 00:58:32.889
you're not sentenced to any—legally,
00:58:32.949 --> 00:58:36.389
you're not told, oh, you will now spend 30 years
00:58:36.389 --> 00:58:38.690
behind bars and then be executed. You're
00:58:38.730 --> 00:58:40.650
just going to be sentenced to death, right?
00:58:40.730 --> 00:58:42.789
If it was the Wild West, that would have
00:58:42.789 --> 00:58:45.070
happened a few days later, right? Yeah,
00:58:45.070 --> 00:58:46.849
but you don't have to be told that. That's part
00:58:46.849 --> 00:58:48.869
of the cost of the system that we're in, where
00:58:48.869 --> 00:58:52.190
you murder somebody and this is what comes with
00:58:52.190 --> 00:58:56.929
it. You destroyed a life. That's not a minor
00:58:56.929 --> 00:59:02.309
thing. No, it's the most major thing. You eliminated
00:59:02.309 --> 00:59:05.030
all of the potential of another particular person
00:59:05.030 --> 00:59:09.780
while on Earth. And you eliminated whatever children
00:59:09.780 --> 00:59:12.179
and grandchildren they would have had too. If
00:59:12.179 --> 00:59:15.380
there are other parts, or if there are other indicators
00:59:15.380 --> 00:59:18.510
that mitigate this—the man was coming to my
00:59:18.510 --> 00:59:21.329
house, the person was attacking my family member,
00:59:21.409 --> 00:59:23.789
the person was attacking me—you would have me,
00:59:23.869 --> 00:59:27.969
right? You got me. But if it's not that, and you
00:59:27.969 --> 00:59:29.550
eliminate a life, there has to be a consequence
00:59:29.550 --> 00:59:31.380
for that. That person could have lived for 80
00:59:31.380 --> 00:59:33.500
years, right? 90 years. Well, no one's saying
00:59:33.500 --> 00:59:35.420
there should be no consequence. The question
00:59:35.420 --> 00:59:38.539
is what the consequence should be, right? And
00:59:38.539 --> 00:59:42.039
does the consequence—is
00:59:42.039 --> 00:59:44.460
it fair? Does it make sense? But I think primarily,
00:59:44.460 --> 00:59:48.159
since this is a state activity and not vigilantism,
00:59:48.460 --> 00:59:51.139
it should first and foremost—the top priority
00:59:51.139 --> 00:59:54.119
should be to serve state interests.
00:59:54.119 --> 00:59:57.099
If there were—if I were in charge of my socialist
00:59:57.099 --> 00:59:59.099
revolution, that would be my concern, right?
00:59:59.219 --> 01:00:01.199
What do I—and that's the thing
01:00:01.199 --> 01:00:04.860
too. I view all human beings as a resource, as
01:00:04.860 --> 01:00:07.679
valuable, including people who kill people. They're
01:00:07.679 --> 01:00:10.139
still—they still have things they can contribute,
01:00:10.139 --> 01:00:13.320
because someone killed someone does not mean
01:00:13.320 --> 01:00:16.659
that they're worthless and can't contribute to
01:00:16.659 --> 01:00:19.590
our GDP and to our greater well-being as a
01:00:19.590 --> 01:00:22.190
society in some way. Think of
01:00:22.190 --> 01:00:24.769
all the prisoners in California who joined the
01:00:24.769 --> 01:00:27.510
smoke jumpers, and they go out and
01:00:27.510 --> 01:00:30.630
help put out wildfires, and some of them die, right?
01:00:30.630 --> 01:00:33.869
They're performing a valuable societal
01:00:33.869 --> 01:00:37.969
function. These are maybe people
01:00:37.969 --> 01:00:40.289
who did a bad thing, but now they're doing good
01:00:40.289 --> 01:00:43.670
things. Look, I don't disagree with you, and
01:00:43.670 --> 01:00:45.590
it's difficult for me to get this argument because
01:00:46.219 --> 01:00:48.219
it's not—I'm not saying that we should feel necessarily
01:00:48.219 --> 01:00:51.760
sorry for them. I'm saying that it's, I'm
01:00:51.760 --> 01:00:53.639
not saying we shouldn't. I'm not saying it's not.
01:00:53.639 --> 01:00:56.059
I'm saying it's not about that. It's about,
01:00:56.059 --> 01:01:00.539
do you really want to keep a million or more
01:01:00.539 --> 01:01:05.579
Americans locked up behind bars every year who
01:01:05.579 --> 01:01:09.079
could be contributing to the economy
01:01:09.079 --> 01:01:11.639
in a more meaningful way than being slave labor,
01:01:11.639 --> 01:01:14.239
putting software packages together,
01:01:14.239 --> 01:01:16.440
or whatever, making license plates, or
01:01:16.440 --> 01:01:20.320
whatever they have? Look, for me, it is very
01:01:20.320 --> 01:01:22.079
difficult for me to make some of these arguments
01:01:22.079 --> 01:01:24.019
because I feel like sometimes I'm falling
01:01:24.019 --> 01:01:25.619
on the right when I'm making these arguments.
01:01:25.619 --> 01:01:27.380
That's okay. The right is right
01:01:27.380 --> 01:01:29.840
sometimes. Sometimes I don't know, but
01:01:29.840 --> 01:01:32.840
I agree with the basic premise that I don't necessarily
01:01:32.840 --> 01:01:36.559
want—for sake, we have 5% of
01:01:36.559 --> 01:01:39.559
the population of the globe and 25% of the populations
01:01:39.559 --> 01:01:42.199
of the globe in our prisons. Meaning, of all
01:01:42.199 --> 01:01:44.119
the people on the planet, 25% of those people
01:01:44.119 --> 01:01:46.260
are in our jails, despite the fact that we only
01:01:46.260 --> 01:01:48.599
have 5% of the country. Maybe the rest of the
01:01:48.599 --> 01:01:51.780
planet is full of wuss countries. Well, no. I
01:01:51.780 --> 01:01:54.489
think something is wrong with us. Yeah, and what
01:01:54.489 --> 01:01:57.469
is that? That's such a screwed-up metric that
01:01:57.469 --> 01:01:59.010
you think to yourself, there are more people
01:01:59.010 --> 01:02:01.630
in our jails than were in the gulags, right?
01:02:02.010 --> 01:02:04.750
The number is astonishing. And you think to yourself,
01:02:04.849 --> 01:02:07.170
what are we doing wrong that all of these people
01:02:07.170 --> 01:02:09.190
are being industrialized into these prisons in
01:02:09.190 --> 01:02:11.369
this way? Now, I would like to separate out,
01:02:11.429 --> 01:02:14.150
though, violent crime versus everything else.
01:02:15.610 --> 01:02:18.050
Violent crime is the issue for me. The everything-
01:02:18.050 --> 01:02:21.210
else stuff that we nickel and dime and find ways
01:02:21.210 --> 01:02:22.909
to fuck people over from the standpoint in our
01:02:22.909 --> 01:02:26.969
system. Look, man, when you have a situation
01:02:26.969 --> 01:02:29.349
where people are growing up in poverty, poverty
01:02:29.349 --> 01:02:31.389
makes people much more likely to commit crimes,
01:02:31.489 --> 01:02:34.130
or at the very least, where there's poverty,
01:02:34.510 --> 01:02:36.809
crime comes with it, because crime becomes a rational
01:02:36.809 --> 01:02:39.550
act. The issue, I would argue, is the poverty.
01:02:40.400 --> 01:02:41.920
That's what I would argue. I would argue deal
01:02:41.920 --> 01:02:45.699
with that. I'll agree with that. I agree with
01:02:45.699 --> 01:02:47.400
you. Let's stay focused on violent crime here.
01:02:47.840 --> 01:02:50.900
Yeah. You are talking about capital punishment.
01:02:51.039 --> 01:02:53.039
Obviously, that's only for violent crime for
01:02:53.039 --> 01:02:55.500
the time being. That is going to be a much smaller
01:02:55.500 --> 01:02:58.019
percentage of the entirety of the prison population
01:02:58.019 --> 01:03:00.739
that is sitting in our jails. So I don't want
01:03:00.739 --> 01:03:02.179
to come across as a hard-ass across the board.
01:03:02.280 --> 01:03:04.119
I'm very specific to violent crime. I don't like
01:03:04.119 --> 01:03:07.440
violent crime. I think that is—there's a thing
01:03:07.440 --> 01:03:11.179
in me. Is there a lobby for violent crime?
01:03:11.260 --> 01:03:13.079
Well, I guess there is. It's called the
01:03:13.079 --> 01:03:17.719
military-industrial complex. But who's a big
01:03:17.719 --> 01:03:21.519
crime? If I'm being honest, I've seen this stuff,
01:03:21.579 --> 01:03:23.519
right? I've seen it in family members. I've
01:03:23.519 --> 01:03:25.699
seen it against family members. My cousin, they
01:03:25.699 --> 01:03:28.150
nearly murdered this guy who she was dating.
01:03:28.309 --> 01:03:30.210
And it always blows my mind when women go to
01:03:30.210 --> 01:03:33.130
jails and think, hey, there's so many available
01:03:33.130 --> 01:03:38.610
men here, right? And it's, they're available
01:03:38.610 --> 01:03:41.349
and they seem to be pretty docile because they're
01:03:41.349 --> 01:03:44.289
in a jail cell, right? You have no idea
01:03:44.289 --> 01:03:46.849
what this entity is when he gets out of jail.
01:03:47.090 --> 01:03:53.349
But the guy goes to my aunt's house, tries to
01:03:53.349 --> 01:03:57.329
murder her, fails at it, and then goes and talks
01:03:57.329 --> 01:03:59.030
to the cops when the cops come. And it's,
01:03:59.110 --> 01:04:01.030
hey, man, I think somebody broke in. Now, they
01:04:01.030 --> 01:04:02.969
eventually put him in a cage and everything else.
01:04:03.309 --> 01:04:07.090
But that guy maybe shouldn't be out. That guy
01:04:07.090 --> 01:04:10.130
doesn't know how to act outside of jail, at least
01:04:10.130 --> 01:04:13.010
for the time being. But the question is, should
01:04:13.010 --> 01:04:16.269
that guy? This is a question. Is there a world
01:04:16.269 --> 01:04:18.769
in which that guy is 62 years old and maybe it's
01:04:18.769 --> 01:04:22.119
time to let him out? I have no idea, because
01:04:22.119 --> 01:04:24.280
for the justice system, but also, have you
01:04:24.280 --> 01:04:27.300
ever been to—I'm just going to say, if you
01:04:27.300 --> 01:04:31.800
go to one of these carceral
01:04:31.800 --> 01:04:36.480
institutions and you meet these people, I guarantee
01:04:36.480 --> 01:04:39.179
you, yeah, there's one or two you're like, I'm glad
01:04:39.179 --> 01:04:42.000
you're in here and you should be in here, but
01:04:42.000 --> 01:04:44.639
the vast majority you're going to be like, this is
01:04:45.050 --> 01:04:49.730
ridiculous. It's ridiculous. Dude's pushing walkers
01:04:49.730 --> 01:04:53.679
around. It's really. Some of the best people
01:04:53.679 --> 01:04:56.539
that I've ever met in life have had stints in
01:04:56.539 --> 01:05:01.289
jail. No. Well, one out of four American men do
01:05:01.289 --> 01:05:04.210
go to—do spend time in jail, right? So yeah,
01:05:04.210 --> 01:05:06.590
some of what—some of the best people
01:05:06.590 --> 01:05:10.349
that are new—I was in jail for drawing,
01:05:10.349 --> 01:05:12.829
for putting up political cartoons on the streets
01:05:12.829 --> 01:05:16.230
of New York City. But see, the rub is they didn't
01:05:16.230 --> 01:05:21.690
kill anybody, right? Look, I agree
01:05:21.690 --> 01:05:24.550
with your basic premise. I wanted redemption. I
01:05:24.550 --> 01:05:26.650
don't know what that looks like in real life.
01:05:26.650 --> 01:05:28.550
When you're watching Stargate, for example,
01:05:28.550 --> 01:05:32.469
Teal'c murdered millions. How does Teal'c
01:05:32.469 --> 01:05:35.139
get redemption, and does he ever get redemption, and
01:05:35.139 --> 01:05:36.800
do the things that he does somehow make up for
01:05:36.800 --> 01:05:39.039
the things that he did in the past? I don't have
01:05:39.039 --> 01:05:42.809
an answer for that. That's a kind of Hitler. Could
01:05:42.809 --> 01:05:45.130
a Hitler have gotten redemption, right?
01:05:45.170 --> 01:05:48.070
That's that kind of question, right? Yeah. But
01:05:48.070 --> 01:05:50.449
just for the basic murder thing.
01:05:50.510 --> 01:05:52.909
That guy—remember that guy in, was
01:05:52.909 --> 01:05:56.010
it some Scandinavian country? This guy, right-
01:05:56.010 --> 01:06:02.230
winger, went in Denmark. And he went—or maybe
01:06:02.230 --> 01:06:03.969
it was Sweden. But anyway, it was one of the
01:06:03.969 --> 01:06:06.969
Scandinavian countries. He went to an island
01:06:06.969 --> 01:06:08.949
where there was a retreat for the socialist
01:06:08.949 --> 01:06:11.849
party and killed over a hundred people.
01:06:13.070 --> 01:06:16.269
And because it's a Scandinavian country
01:06:16.269 --> 01:06:21.429
and they have relatively lenient laws, that guy's
01:06:21.429 --> 01:06:24.030
going to be—yeah, he's got 20 years in prison,
01:06:24.090 --> 01:06:26.429
which by American standards is, dude, you
01:06:26.429 --> 01:06:29.750
killed 100-plus people. You're never seeing the
01:06:29.750 --> 01:06:32.210
light of day again, right? It's kind of shocking.
01:06:32.690 --> 01:06:36.699
Well, but isn't that your argument? That, look,
01:06:36.920 --> 01:06:39.480
in 20 years, this dude could be a different guy.
01:06:40.420 --> 01:06:43.199
I think there's a—there's a better—
01:06:43.199 --> 01:06:46.019
in fact, it's likely he'll be a different
01:06:46.019 --> 01:06:51.130
guy. A country can make a decision and say it
01:06:51.159 --> 01:06:55.050
is worth taking a risk to try to redeem a person
01:06:55.050 --> 01:06:58.590
because we care about people that much. It can
01:06:58.590 --> 01:07:01.030
make that choice. It could even
01:07:01.030 --> 01:07:05.599
say, kind of in a Star Trek way, look, even
01:07:05.599 --> 01:07:08.440
if people get killed at times, that is better
01:07:08.440 --> 01:07:12.329
than us throwing people away, because the number
01:07:12.329 --> 01:07:15.110
of people that will be redeemed is much greater
01:07:15.110 --> 01:07:17.250
than the number of people that would die for
01:07:17.250 --> 01:07:20.409
us taking the risk. Society can say that. I think
01:07:20.409 --> 01:07:22.809
that's the place where—that's the place where
01:07:22.809 --> 01:07:26.960
I land. Yeah, but man, that is going to be challenged
01:07:26.960 --> 01:07:31.840
every time somebody kills. People who challenge
01:07:31.840 --> 01:07:34.739
it are not psychos. Okay, I don't
01:07:34.739 --> 01:07:36.889
look at them and think, God, they're meanies,
01:07:36.909 --> 01:07:39.610
they're assholes, they're bad people. I don't
01:07:39.610 --> 01:07:41.289
think that. I just think that this is a tough
01:07:41.289 --> 01:07:43.769
issue, but this is where I'm at at
01:07:43.769 --> 01:07:46.690
this particular point. I think sometimes you're
01:07:46.690 --> 01:07:48.010
a better person than I am. I want to be there.
01:07:48.670 --> 01:07:50.670
Oh, thank you. Thank you, Jamarl. I don't know
01:07:50.670 --> 01:07:55.059
if that's true, though. All right. So, okay. So
01:07:55.059 --> 01:07:58.099
Christa Pike. We'll revisit this. What do you think
01:07:58.099 --> 01:08:00.059
should happen to her specifically? I think they
01:08:00.059 --> 01:08:02.670
should let her go. Do you think she should be
01:08:02.670 --> 01:08:05.420
free, or do you think she should? They had two
01:08:05.420 --> 01:08:07.460
bites of the apple. They tried to kill the woman.
01:08:07.579 --> 01:08:10.380
It didn't work. You've had your shot. The state
01:08:10.380 --> 01:08:12.480
shouldn't just get to, hey, we tried to murder
01:08:12.480 --> 01:08:14.340
her, or we tried to kill her. It didn't work.
01:08:14.420 --> 01:08:15.480
So now we're just going to keep her in prison
01:08:15.480 --> 01:08:19.720
forever. They had their shot. That's how I feel,
01:08:19.760 --> 01:08:24.079
right? Yeah. If the axman hits you and he doesn't
01:08:24.079 --> 01:08:28.239
kill you because he sucks. Grace. That's what
01:08:28.239 --> 01:08:30.640
I think. I think that too. I think that's
01:08:30.640 --> 01:08:32.659
almost an elementary school rule, right?
01:08:32.739 --> 01:08:35.079
We all get that, right? It's
01:08:35.079 --> 01:08:37.640
sort of, yeah, you had your shot. Okay.
01:08:38.260 --> 01:08:41.250
We're in agreement. We're now in the second hour
01:08:41.250 --> 01:08:44.390
of the program, by the way. So if you have, obviously
01:08:44.390 --> 01:08:47.250
we're answering your questions anyway, but all
01:08:47.250 --> 01:08:52.829
right. I have feelings about that. We do. That's
01:08:52.829 --> 01:08:58.439
a touchy issue. Yeah. I don't know why. Paul Green
01:08:58.439 --> 01:09:00.760
Dennis, thanks for the $2. Robby, looking forward
01:09:00.760 --> 01:09:02.500
to your next Bible study. I'm looking forward
01:09:02.500 --> 01:09:05.199
to it also. I plan to attend if Robby invites
01:09:05.199 --> 01:09:08.279
me back. It was really, really fun. No, of course,
01:09:08.319 --> 01:09:10.300
JT, you have an open invitation to come too.
01:09:10.939 --> 01:09:13.819
You'd enjoy it if you're free. I am not a big—
01:09:14.850 --> 01:09:17.949
I'm not a Bible person. It's not really, but
01:09:17.949 --> 01:09:20.050
it's not about—it is about the Bible,
01:09:20.170 --> 01:09:23.590
but it's about how, at least this last one was
01:09:23.590 --> 01:09:27.430
used, how the Bible is used by Zionists to justify
01:09:27.430 --> 01:09:29.770
their arguments. So it's more about logical reasoning
01:09:29.770 --> 01:09:32.510
and arguing. Well, in this case, there's going
01:09:32.510 --> 01:09:34.869
to—how about this? If you do a scene, pick
01:09:34.869 --> 01:09:36.970
a scene from the Bible, and we can debate the
01:09:36.970 --> 01:09:39.710
scene, I'll do that. I'll join. Because at that
01:09:39.710 --> 01:09:40.909
point, it makes sense. If we were talking
01:09:40.909 --> 01:09:42.909
about Stargate, I could just put it in that frame
01:09:42.909 --> 01:09:46.130
of reference, a book or movie
01:09:46.130 --> 01:09:47.869
or TV show or something like that. At that point
01:09:47.869 --> 01:09:50.189
it makes more sense to me. Was David right
01:09:50.189 --> 01:09:52.670
for sending—but that's the easy one. David was
01:09:52.670 --> 01:09:54.529
obviously wrong for sending dude to the military
01:09:54.529 --> 01:09:56.869
to get him killed to have sex with his wife.
01:09:56.869 --> 01:09:58.649
I don't know. You know more of these things than
01:09:58.649 --> 01:09:59.890
I do. Robby, you can come up with a really good
01:09:59.890 --> 01:10:03.170
scenario. Yeah, well, in this case, it really
01:10:03.170 --> 01:10:05.229
goes along with what y'all are talking
01:10:05.229 --> 01:10:08.329
about here, is I will be making the biblical case
01:10:08.329 --> 01:10:14.399
for the death penalty. Oh, really? Yeah. I'm going
01:10:14.399 --> 01:10:16.560
to say Jesus was anti-death
01:10:16.560 --> 01:10:20.050
penalty based on what? Based on the fact that
01:10:20.050 --> 01:10:22.930
he's all, let he who is without sin cast the first
01:10:22.930 --> 01:10:25.310
stone, and nobody's without sin. But here's the
01:10:25.310 --> 01:10:28.869
part, and Christ never—there's nowhere
01:10:28.869 --> 01:10:32.050
where Christ called for killing people.
01:10:32.050 --> 01:10:34.130
You're 100% incorrect. He said, I've
01:10:34.130 --> 01:10:36.409
not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.
01:10:37.140 --> 01:10:41.119
You, sir, are barking up the wrong tree. And
01:10:41.119 --> 01:10:43.500
also, you've got to remember the context of this.
01:10:43.520 --> 01:10:46.300
The Pharisees are trying to trap Jesus. So I'm
01:10:46.300 --> 01:10:48.760
going to save this for Friday. But what they
01:10:48.760 --> 01:10:50.279
were trying to do, they were trying to trap Jesus.
01:10:50.399 --> 01:10:52.079
They did this with the tax question, and they
01:10:52.079 --> 01:10:54.840
also did with this, because Judea was under Roman
01:10:54.840 --> 01:10:57.899
occupation. Under the Mosaic law, adultery is
01:10:57.899 --> 01:11:00.319
punishable by death. Wait, wait, wait, wait,
01:11:00.319 --> 01:11:02.000
wait, wait. Have the biblical argument on the
01:11:02.000 --> 01:11:06.920
show. We have other stuff to talk about. But
01:11:06.920 --> 01:11:11.539
Ted, if that's the argument you're going to make,
01:11:11.619 --> 01:11:13.659
you've got to at least try to read your Bible
01:11:13.659 --> 01:11:15.939
a little bit, because I will destroy you, sir.
01:11:16.520 --> 01:11:20.739
I have multiple editions. I'll be ready for you.
01:11:21.420 --> 01:11:26.420
All right. Well, I think Robby always overemphasizes
01:11:26.420 --> 01:11:29.979
the Old Testament and underemphasizes the New
01:11:29.979 --> 01:11:32.439
Testament, which is about redemption. And the
01:11:32.439 --> 01:11:35.979
New Testament is basically—there's a supremacy
01:11:35.979 --> 01:11:38.340
clause, right? When there's a conflict between
01:11:38.340 --> 01:11:40.420
the Old and the New Testaments in Christianity,
01:11:40.600 --> 01:11:44.390
the New Testament prevails. So, and Robby claims
01:11:44.390 --> 01:11:47.569
there's no conflicts in the Bible too, which
01:11:47.569 --> 01:11:51.300
is just not true. But okay, we will get into
01:11:51.300 --> 01:11:56.699
that. So let the Bible debates begin. Okay, so what do you
01:12:00.079 --> 01:12:02.840
want to talk about? Should we—I'm sorry.
01:12:02.840 --> 01:12:05.600
Oh, no, I just said Bible wars. It's just great.
01:12:05.600 --> 01:12:08.539
I've always wanted to start an astrology
01:12:08.539 --> 01:12:11.020
channel, but I've always wanted to do it with
01:12:11.020 --> 01:12:13.260
a female host where you can go back and forth.
01:12:13.260 --> 01:12:15.819
Relationship stuff. I think it'd be fun. I've always
01:12:15.819 --> 01:12:18.899
wanted to do an advice channel. Again, I think
01:12:18.899 --> 01:12:21.199
I would need a female co-host with that. Yeah,
01:12:21.199 --> 01:12:23.979
basically relationships and
01:12:23.979 --> 01:12:26.560
that kind of thing would be so fun. People
01:12:26.560 --> 01:12:29.680
are in trouble. At some point, when it's,
01:12:29.680 --> 01:12:31.279
you say something to her, she starts crying. It's,
01:12:31.279 --> 01:12:33.020
oh my God, now you're crying. And I could imagine
01:12:33.020 --> 01:12:35.380
the audience is, he's an asshole. That guy's
01:12:35.380 --> 01:12:37.199
an asshole. The men are, no, that guy has a
01:12:37.199 --> 01:12:42.010
point. I think it works. Totally, totally. Anti,
01:12:42.010 --> 01:12:46.079
thou shalt not kill. Art, are there no contradictions
01:12:46.079 --> 01:12:48.640
in the Bible? Thanks for the $2 from
01:12:48.640 --> 01:12:52.659
Anti. Okay, so what do you want to talk about
01:12:52.659 --> 01:12:54.979
now? Can we just hit Lafayette Park and get it
01:12:54.979 --> 01:12:58.520
out of the way? So Lafayette Park is right
01:12:58.520 --> 01:13:00.399
across the street, right across Pennsylvania Avenue
01:13:00.399 --> 01:13:04.060
from the White House, and over the years
01:13:04.060 --> 01:13:05.899
it's always been a place where there's been a
01:13:05.899 --> 01:13:08.479
lot of protest demonstrations, and
01:13:08.479 --> 01:13:10.880
it's so close to the White House that if they're
01:13:10.880 --> 01:13:14.350
loud enough, the president can hear the protests
01:13:14.350 --> 01:13:17.989
going on. Donald Trump—hey, LBJ, how many kids
01:13:17.989 --> 01:13:22.850
did he kill today? Exactly. Nixon, get the fuck
01:13:22.850 --> 01:13:29.239
out. I remember when the day before Nixon resigned,
01:13:29.539 --> 01:13:32.819
there was a huge mob of people across the street
01:13:32.819 --> 01:13:36.340
from the White House. I was 11 years old. Lafayette
01:13:36.340 --> 01:13:38.720
Park has always been a gathering place. Trump
01:13:38.720 --> 01:13:41.279
just doesn't like it and wants to put a big
01:13:41.279 --> 01:13:44.539
fence around it and turn it into sort of a private-
01:13:44.539 --> 01:13:47.319
public park, kind of like Gramercy Park in New
01:13:47.319 --> 01:13:50.039
York City, which is a private public park where
01:13:50.039 --> 01:13:52.760
you only get to visit it if you have a key to
01:13:52.760 --> 01:13:55.239
the park, and that only goes to people who live
01:13:55.239 --> 01:13:57.939
right next door to it, who happen to all be really
01:13:57.939 --> 01:14:03.239
rich. Anyway, so if he gets his way, you and
01:14:03.239 --> 01:14:06.880
I both know, Jamarl, that no future president,
01:14:07.199 --> 01:14:10.489
including a Democrat, would reopen it and
01:14:10.489 --> 01:14:13.050
tear down the fence, because it would be,
01:14:13.109 --> 01:14:16.029
well, from a security standpoint, and things
01:14:16.029 --> 01:14:18.890
just last, right? These kind of changes always
01:14:18.890 --> 01:14:21.449
stay. Anything that's against the people and
01:14:21.449 --> 01:14:26.050
for the government always stays. I thought this
01:14:26.050 --> 01:14:27.869
was kind of important. It's kind of basically
01:14:27.869 --> 01:14:30.789
the enclosure of the commons, and it's theft of
01:14:30.789 --> 01:14:34.510
public land. And it's just another abolition
01:14:34.510 --> 01:14:37.649
of a way for the American people to try to hold
01:14:37.649 --> 01:14:40.380
their leaders to account. I don't know. I think
01:14:40.380 --> 01:14:43.560
it's kind of a bigger story than maybe a lot
01:14:43.560 --> 01:14:46.960
of outlets are treating it as. Well, it's their
01:14:46.960 --> 01:14:49.920
way of trying to stem protests. If I remember
01:14:49.920 --> 01:14:51.359
correctly, and correct me if I'm wrong on this,
01:14:51.500 --> 01:14:53.600
when during the Nixon protests, they had to put
01:14:53.600 --> 01:14:56.520
buses around the White House because Nixon
01:14:56.520 --> 01:14:58.020
was scared that the people were going to effectively
01:14:58.020 --> 01:15:01.880
raid the White House. Yep. Yep. That's intense.
01:15:03.380 --> 01:15:07.579
Good times. Good times. That's what shit should
01:15:07.579 --> 01:15:10.810
be like. True. Nixon was terrified. And he was,
01:15:10.810 --> 01:15:12.930
if I remember right, telling Kissinger,
01:15:13.050 --> 01:15:14.529
they're going to come and get me, Henry. They're
01:15:14.529 --> 01:15:16.149
going to come and get me. And of course, Henry
01:15:16.149 --> 01:15:17.850
Kissinger was talking to the press behind the
01:15:17.850 --> 01:15:20.529
scenes. Nixon basically writing out what's going
01:15:20.529 --> 01:15:25.670
on in the White House. It should be that. It
01:15:25.670 --> 01:15:28.550
should be that. If Nixon was a progressive president,
01:15:28.670 --> 01:15:31.510
because Nixon was just progressive. Nixon was
01:15:31.510 --> 01:15:32.869
a progressive president because he had all sorts
01:15:32.869 --> 01:15:35.170
of pressure on him to kind of push him in a particular
01:15:35.170 --> 01:15:36.970
direction. The guy was right-winger, but he was
01:15:36.970 --> 01:15:40.329
still more left of center than a Democratic
01:15:40.329 --> 01:15:43.609
Party is at this point, right? Yeah, true. It needs
01:15:43.609 --> 01:15:46.470
to be that. It needs to be pressure. And I get
01:15:46.470 --> 01:15:48.770
the sense, and I understand your take on this,
01:15:48.770 --> 01:15:50.770
that putting the fence is a way of basically
01:15:50.770 --> 01:15:53.130
destroying the capability of the public to try
01:15:53.130 --> 01:15:55.229
to protest. Trump is not doing it because he wants
01:15:55.229 --> 01:15:57.109
to carve off the area. He's doing it because he
01:15:57.109 --> 01:15:59.420
doesn't like the protest. That's why. Well, it's
01:15:59.420 --> 01:16:01.699
just how the DNC—it's the
01:16:01.699 --> 01:16:03.739
Democratic and the Republican National Conventions,
01:16:03.739 --> 01:16:06.119
and the Democrats are actually worse about this.
01:16:06.119 --> 01:16:08.140
And I know because I've been to both of them
01:16:08.140 --> 01:16:11.300
in recent years. They put their protest zones,
01:16:11.300 --> 01:16:15.500
behind fencing, sometimes
01:16:15.500 --> 01:16:18.939
a mile or two miles away from the convention
01:16:18.939 --> 01:16:23.039
center, and then under a freeway. It's
01:16:23.039 --> 01:16:25.819
ridiculous. There is a free speech
01:16:25.819 --> 01:16:30.050
zone, they call it, right? Hey, if a protest
01:16:30.050 --> 01:16:33.310
falls in the woods, does it make a sound? Well,
01:16:33.390 --> 01:16:35.449
no, and there's no cameras to cover it, right?
01:16:36.619 --> 01:16:39.279
A protest zone. I love that. Hey, hey, hey, this
01:16:39.279 --> 01:16:41.520
is free speech. We believe in free speech because
01:16:41.520 --> 01:16:43.239
we're a liberal quarter. We're a liberal country.
01:16:43.699 --> 01:16:47.159
So your zone to have that free speech is miles
01:16:47.159 --> 01:16:50.899
away, right? And then they would
01:16:50.899 --> 01:16:52.460
say with a straight face, what do you mean? We
01:16:52.460 --> 01:16:55.619
allow protests. Protest is not about being allowed.
01:16:55.920 --> 01:16:59.960
Yeah, we allow protests on the moon, but where
01:16:59.960 --> 01:17:03.300
no one will hear. They can make a difference
01:17:03.300 --> 01:17:06.239
or make a sound. Meanwhile, think of the very
01:17:06.239 --> 01:17:09.199
same courts, right? They rule that, for example,
01:17:09.920 --> 01:17:15.420
that they should allow anti-abortion protesters
01:17:15.420 --> 01:17:18.020
within 100 feet of the entrance of an abortion
01:17:18.020 --> 01:17:21.260
clinic, right? So that the 18-year-old girl
01:17:21.260 --> 01:17:25.710
scurrying in to fix their broken condom
01:17:25.710 --> 01:17:28.430
mistake, they have to run a gauntlet of people
01:17:28.430 --> 01:17:32.670
screaming at them. Personally, I thought that
01:17:32.670 --> 01:17:35.829
was a pretty valid decision. I thought that if
01:17:35.829 --> 01:17:38.350
you have free speech, you do have to let pro-
01:17:38.350 --> 01:17:41.510
life people in front of abortion clinics, not
01:17:41.510 --> 01:17:44.529
blocking the door, but frankly, within a reasonable
01:17:44.529 --> 01:17:47.930
distance so that their speech is not only heard,
01:17:48.050 --> 01:17:51.850
but it's relevant. Protesting the president of
01:17:51.850 --> 01:17:53.449
the United States, you should be within shouting
01:17:53.449 --> 01:17:57.529
distance. Is this okay? I know this is a divergent
01:17:57.529 --> 01:18:03.399
thought, but is that—I don't need to hear free
01:18:03.399 --> 01:18:06.359
speech from Randall people because there's none
01:18:06.359 --> 01:18:09.649
of—meaning I suppose if you're on the sidewalk
01:18:09.649 --> 01:18:11.649
or something to that effect, then okay, people
01:18:11.649 --> 01:18:13.210
can be what they do. They can do what they want.
01:18:13.210 --> 01:18:15.409
That's what we're talking about. But the 16-year-
01:18:15.409 --> 01:18:17.989
old girl who made a mistake. Yeah, the 14-year-
01:18:17.989 --> 01:18:21.840
old who made a mistake. Well, the 14-year-old, they
01:18:21.840 --> 01:18:23.630
were raped by her uncle. Shouldn't have to run
01:18:23.630 --> 01:18:27.229
a gauntlet of 30-year-old men screaming at
01:18:27.229 --> 01:18:30.270
her. But maybe she does if she lives in a country
01:18:30.270 --> 01:18:34.409
that values free speech. Yeah, but is it really
01:18:34.409 --> 01:18:36.829
free speech in that sense? Meaning, I guess we're
01:18:36.829 --> 01:18:38.409
free speech in the context of people say what
01:18:38.409 --> 01:18:41.970
they want. Of course it's free speech. But they're
01:18:41.970 --> 01:18:45.890
just—but this is, okay. I don't know. Obviously
01:18:45.890 --> 01:18:49.829
it's free speech. I find it to be. Person, politically,
01:18:49.829 --> 01:18:52.149
I'm opposed to that free speech, but it's still
01:18:52.149 --> 01:18:56.289
free speech, clearly. It's like the Nazis marching
01:18:56.289 --> 01:18:59.050
through Skokie, Illinois. It's free speech.
01:18:59.050 --> 01:19:02.510
It's gross, but it's free speech. So what, they're
01:19:02.510 --> 01:19:05.869
walking on pavement. I'm trying to think of the
01:19:05.869 --> 01:19:08.930
one that's here in Virginia, or how they're
01:19:08.930 --> 01:19:11.069
set up, because I'm trying to figure out how that
01:19:11.069 --> 01:19:13.750
walkway is. But they used to have people screaming
01:19:13.750 --> 01:19:16.829
bloody murder at 14-year-olds who were raped
01:19:16.829 --> 01:19:19.229
by their uncles. Some, that stuff is outrageous.
01:19:19.770 --> 01:19:23.170
But yeah, I suppose free speech. Being
01:19:23.170 --> 01:19:29.050
14 doesn't exempt you from being insulted, offended,
01:19:29.590 --> 01:19:35.210
yelled at, called names. That is true. That is
01:19:35.210 --> 01:19:38.689
true. It's free speech. That's true. And free
01:19:38.689 --> 01:19:41.390
speech isn't always pleasant. All right, so we
01:19:41.390 --> 01:19:45.090
can dispose of that. All right. Okay, let's see
01:19:45.090 --> 01:19:47.390
what else we got here in terms of comments here.
01:19:49.689 --> 01:19:53.210
Jamarl, never mind that this is from Moth36. Never
01:19:53.210 --> 01:19:55.949
mind the fact of Israel killing of all the Palestinians.
01:19:56.090 --> 01:19:58.350
How do you get along with someone who views you
01:19:58.350 --> 01:20:01.189
as less than human just because you're not a
01:20:01.189 --> 01:20:06.699
Jew? Right. Yeah, I agree. No, I agree. I guess
01:20:06.699 --> 01:20:09.420
the question becomes, what do you do with that?
01:20:09.939 --> 01:20:12.300
Which is what I don't have an answer for. Right.
01:20:12.359 --> 01:20:13.819
And I don't know if the world has an answer for.
01:20:15.310 --> 01:20:17.859
No, I don't. That's why I think ultimately the
01:20:17.859 --> 01:20:21.119
state, the whole thing has to be dismantled.
01:20:21.119 --> 01:20:23.060
But even though you're still going to have to deal
01:20:23.060 --> 01:20:25.960
with the people afterwards. So yeah, but it's
01:20:25.960 --> 01:20:31.130
you guys. They are compared to dogs.
01:20:31.130 --> 01:20:33.130
More in the line like that. Yeah, it's not
01:20:33.130 --> 01:20:35.010
even a human being. It's, we just have to
01:20:35.010 --> 01:20:36.989
kill the babies, kill the kids, because they're
01:20:36.989 --> 01:20:38.130
going to be adults anyway and they're going to
01:20:38.130 --> 01:20:39.949
fight us later. So if we kill them now, we can
01:20:39.949 --> 01:20:41.890
avoid that. That's who you're living with.
01:20:41.890 --> 01:20:45.380
And I don't know how you—I don't know what that
01:20:45.380 --> 01:20:47.779
re-education camp looks like. I'll put it that
01:20:47.779 --> 01:20:49.939
way. I don't know what that looks like. And for
01:20:49.939 --> 01:20:52.899
what, 8 million people, give or take? 6 million?
01:20:53.760 --> 01:20:58.880
Yeah. Yeah. Daniel says, I'm anti-death penalty,
01:20:59.159 --> 01:21:00.920
but don't believe in romanticizing criminals
01:21:00.920 --> 01:21:03.000
because they committed crimes when they were
01:21:03.000 --> 01:21:04.779
young. You should still pay for what you do.
01:21:04.840 --> 01:21:06.859
I don't know about romanticizing is the right
01:21:06.859 --> 01:21:11.619
word here. Excusing is probably the word you're
01:21:11.619 --> 01:21:15.000
looking for. It's just not very idealistic. No
01:21:15.000 --> 01:21:17.380
one's romanticizing them like Bonnie and Clyde.
01:21:18.159 --> 01:21:20.460
Look how cool they are. That's
01:21:20.460 --> 01:21:23.220
what romanticizing is. I'm going to defend him
01:21:23.220 --> 01:21:26.380
on this one. I don't think romanticizing is a
01:21:26.380 --> 01:21:31.319
bit strong, but idealistic, very. It sounds very
01:21:31.319 --> 01:21:33.680
idealistic to be, we can have
01:21:33.680 --> 01:21:35.579
redemption. We can do this straight. We can get
01:21:35.579 --> 01:21:38.140
this right. A society should be a society that
01:21:38.140 --> 01:21:40.720
takes a risk, meaning we should. But Jamarl,
01:21:40.819 --> 01:21:43.159
our whole society, our whole justice system,
01:21:43.260 --> 01:21:46.000
all justice systems, for the most
01:21:46.000 --> 01:21:48.760
part, is in some parts based on redemption.
01:21:48.760 --> 01:21:52.399
For example, the idea that you can have
01:21:52.399 --> 01:21:56.699
a—if we believe in a deterrence effect,
01:21:56.800 --> 01:21:59.180
right? Well, deterrence, what is deterrence?
01:21:59.220 --> 01:22:01.420
Deterrence implies that we have the ability, we have
01:22:01.420 --> 01:22:04.300
the ability, we have free will to decide to do
01:22:04.300 --> 01:22:06.680
right instead of to do wrong, right? Oh,
01:22:06.899 --> 01:22:10.439
if I kill someone, I might go to prison. Therefore,
01:22:10.560 --> 01:22:12.880
I'll choose not to kill someone. Why
01:22:12.880 --> 01:22:15.380
do you give—supposedly gives me? The real
01:22:15.380 --> 01:22:17.319
reason you give speeding tickets to motorists
01:22:17.319 --> 01:22:20.079
is to raise revenue. But we pretend
01:22:20.079 --> 01:22:22.539
that we do that in order to dissuade people from
01:22:22.539 --> 01:22:25.140
speeding, and obviously it works. If you issue
01:22:25.140 --> 01:22:27.920
a lot of speeding tickets, people will slow down.
01:22:27.920 --> 01:22:31.399
And that's been shown over and over.
01:22:31.399 --> 01:22:33.960
So we know people can change their behavior.
01:22:34.239 --> 01:22:38.149
We know people who are alcoholics can stop
01:22:38.149 --> 01:22:42.670
drinking. We know people who did bad,
01:22:42.729 --> 01:22:45.270
depending on the crime, certain crimes,
01:22:45.390 --> 01:22:47.850
they can stop doing those things. I don't know
01:22:47.850 --> 01:22:51.630
if Elizabeth Holmes can stop lying. But
01:22:51.630 --> 01:22:54.710
the point is that we all—we're all—
01:22:54.710 --> 01:22:57.449
we assume that everyone's capable of changing
01:22:57.449 --> 01:23:00.630
their behavior. Otherwise, if we didn't believe
01:23:00.630 --> 01:23:02.949
that, we would just say, okay, the first
01:23:02.949 --> 01:23:05.579
time we catch someone driving 100
01:23:05.579 --> 01:23:09.220
miles an hour in a 55, that person's
01:23:09.220 --> 01:23:12.359
never driving again. That would be, if
01:23:12.359 --> 01:23:14.779
we didn't think people could change, that would
01:23:14.779 --> 01:23:16.460
be the smart move, because I don't want those
01:23:16.460 --> 01:23:19.380
people driving 100 miles an hour in a
01:23:19.380 --> 01:23:21.760
55. It's dangerous. I don't want to be on the same
01:23:21.760 --> 01:23:24.720
road as them. But we decide not to do that, right?
01:23:24.720 --> 01:23:30.310
So we—this is just our system. So to say
01:23:30.310 --> 01:23:32.409
that redemption is something we don't believe
01:23:32.409 --> 01:23:36.090
in, we do believe in it. Obviously. They're
01:23:36.090 --> 01:23:39.609
called corrections officers, right? To correct
01:23:39.609 --> 01:23:42.970
people's behavior. They're not called punishment
01:23:42.970 --> 01:23:45.229
officers. But they should be called punishment
01:23:45.229 --> 01:23:47.229
officers, just like the Department of Justice
01:23:47.229 --> 01:23:51.449
or the Department of War, right? It's not defense.
01:23:52.069 --> 01:23:54.329
We're not defending anything. We're going out
01:23:54.329 --> 01:23:55.989
and killing people. It's the Department of War.
01:23:56.050 --> 01:23:59.489
It's more honest. And corrections is the propaganda
01:23:59.489 --> 01:24:01.390
that we use every bit as much as the Department
01:24:01.390 --> 01:24:04.020
of Defense is the propaganda that's used in
01:24:04.020 --> 01:24:06.020
order to cover behavior. They're not correcting
01:24:06.020 --> 01:24:08.119
anything. They're punishing. And you can make the
01:24:08.119 --> 01:24:09.699
argument that the punishment and correction are
01:24:09.699 --> 01:24:13.800
somewhat entangled. Fair enough. But it
01:24:13.800 --> 01:24:16.470
is punishment. That is the point. Certainly punishment,
01:24:16.470 --> 01:24:19.350
right? Yeah, that's it. And look, if that's the only
01:24:19.350 --> 01:24:22.949
point, then I guess my question is, what point
01:24:22.949 --> 01:24:27.859
does it serve? Ideally, I don't want to go to jail,
01:24:27.859 --> 01:24:30.319
so I'm not going to murder Pop. Bob is—
01:24:30.319 --> 01:24:32.270
I'm not going to kill Bob because I don't want
01:24:32.270 --> 01:24:34.090
to go to jail, even if Bob pisses me off and
01:24:34.090 --> 01:24:36.130
I hate Bob. I'm not going to kill him. Yeah,
01:24:36.189 --> 01:24:38.250
you're hoping to change behavior. Well, you're
01:24:38.250 --> 01:24:41.670
trying to deter behavior. I'm deterring Tim.
01:24:41.930 --> 01:24:43.890
But you're also trying to deter not just the
01:24:43.890 --> 01:24:46.710
behavior of people who've never done this,
01:24:46.710 --> 01:24:48.289
committed this crime. You're also trying
01:24:48.289 --> 01:24:50.890
to deter the behavior of the person who has committed
01:24:50.890 --> 01:24:53.430
that crime to make them not reoffend. Right.
01:24:53.550 --> 01:24:55.050
And the death penalty—the number of
01:24:55.050 --> 01:24:56.489
people that are on the death penalty are small,
01:24:56.609 --> 01:24:58.310
obviously, in comparison to the number of people
01:24:58.310 --> 01:25:00.829
that are in jail. Many people get life in prison.
01:25:00.930 --> 01:25:03.229
Many people get 20, 30 years, in which case
01:25:03.229 --> 01:25:05.550
they get out later on in life. It reminds me,
01:25:05.550 --> 01:25:09.109
if you talk about Nidal Hasan, right? Yeah.
01:25:09.130 --> 01:25:12.520
A Fort Hood shooter. But anyway, go ahead. Well,
01:25:12.579 --> 01:25:14.279
I'll just make the point. It's not everybody's
01:25:14.279 --> 01:25:18.819
thrown away. People do get out. Yeah. They do
01:25:18.819 --> 01:25:21.140
get out. People get out after 20 years, 30 years.
01:25:21.619 --> 01:25:25.039
They should. You could say that maybe that's
01:25:25.039 --> 01:25:27.420
too long, because I guess the point is it came
01:25:27.420 --> 01:25:32.079
across very idealistic, this idea of how we
01:25:32.079 --> 01:25:35.000
should treat our prisoners and the willingness
01:25:35.000 --> 01:25:38.079
of a society to be willing to accept additional
01:25:38.079 --> 01:25:40.319
crimes. And by the way, we do. We do it already.
01:25:40.319 --> 01:25:44.310
The rapist who gets out, who most likely will
01:25:44.310 --> 01:25:47.609
rape again. The child predator who gets out, who
01:25:47.609 --> 01:25:49.649
will most likely rape a child again. It's problematic.
01:25:49.649 --> 01:25:52.270
You don't kill these people. They put him in prison.
01:25:52.289 --> 01:25:54.649
We let him out at some point. So we do take risks
01:25:54.649 --> 01:25:59.329
as a society. Also, Grizz has a comment here.
01:25:59.510 --> 01:26:02.210
Don't disagree with Ted. But with a lot of things,
01:26:02.310 --> 01:26:04.390
the answer is bigger than the question. We could
01:26:04.390 --> 01:26:06.369
have a place for people who did something and
01:26:06.369 --> 01:26:08.810
have to carry that if we had a different society.
01:26:09.130 --> 01:26:11.409
That is an interesting point, right?
01:26:11.510 --> 01:26:14.869
There's, at this point, that we
01:26:14.869 --> 01:26:19.789
don't have a lot of gradients of where to store
01:26:19.789 --> 01:26:22.409
people, halfway houses and stuff like that.
01:26:22.409 --> 01:26:27.050
What if we had some kind of venue or territory
01:26:27.050 --> 01:26:30.449
where people are in this gray zone?
01:26:30.449 --> 01:26:32.750
We've kind of—the corrections
01:26:32.750 --> 01:26:35.210
departments have come to conclude that they're
01:26:35.210 --> 01:26:37.229
not—we don't need to execute
01:26:37.229 --> 01:26:38.989
them, or we don't need to keep them in prison
01:26:38.989 --> 01:26:42.369
forever. Pardon. We have Greenland. We can send
01:26:42.369 --> 01:26:45.409
them, take them to Greenland. Or yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:26:45.409 --> 01:26:49.699
Montana, I hear, is free. By the
01:26:49.699 --> 01:26:51.619
way, do you think that we already have the system
01:26:51.619 --> 01:26:53.979
that you're talking about? Because as I make
01:26:53.979 --> 01:26:57.300
the point, we don't execute everybody. The executions
01:26:57.300 --> 01:26:59.840
are very low. Most of the people are either in
01:26:59.840 --> 01:27:01.680
for life, or they get out after 20, 30 years,
01:27:01.760 --> 01:27:03.560
meaning it's still a system where the people
01:27:03.560 --> 01:27:06.399
have changed, as you point out, and reentered
01:27:06.399 --> 01:27:08.989
society, and society takes the risk of whether
01:27:08.989 --> 01:27:10.489
or not those people have actually changed in
01:27:10.489 --> 01:27:12.270
reality, because you can't peer to the soul of
01:27:12.270 --> 01:27:14.449
the person. And by the way, almost nobody reoffends
01:27:14.449 --> 01:27:16.770
in those situations, right? In fact,
01:27:16.770 --> 01:27:19.489
with serial killers, studies have shown that
01:27:19.489 --> 01:27:21.770
almost—the guy that
01:27:21.770 --> 01:27:24.890
they caught in Long Island, right? Horford, or
01:27:24.890 --> 01:27:29.689
whatever his name is. He, Heuermann. That guy.
01:27:29.689 --> 01:27:32.430
He stopped killing a while ago,
01:27:32.430 --> 01:27:34.789
and it's because he kind of aged out of it. Serial
01:27:34.789 --> 01:27:37.899
killers, they see, yeah, they don't do
01:27:37.899 --> 01:27:40.699
it, right? There was the sleeper killer
01:27:40.699 --> 01:27:44.180
in Southern California. That guy, they
01:27:44.180 --> 01:27:46.260
called him that because he went cold. They just—
01:27:46.260 --> 01:27:49.739
they stopped. Humans aren't just—are just not
01:27:49.739 --> 01:27:52.300
into that much gratuitous killing once they
01:27:52.300 --> 01:27:54.699
turn 50, unless they work for the government,
01:27:54.699 --> 01:27:56.920
in which case they're all about sending other
01:27:56.920 --> 01:27:59.479
people to do it. No, but those people would still
01:27:59.479 --> 01:28:02.539
kill. It's opportunity. Their body broke down. It's
01:28:02.539 --> 01:28:04.380
kind of my grandfather. My grandfather
01:28:04.380 --> 01:28:08.380
used to—angry alcoholic. Even when he was
01:28:08.380 --> 01:28:10.739
in his 60s, would still be walking to the store
01:28:10.739 --> 01:28:12.819
in the middle of the snow, in the middle
01:28:12.819 --> 01:28:14.939
of a snowstorm, to get his Aristocrat alcohol,
01:28:14.939 --> 01:28:17.699
to get back home. He would still do it, meaning
01:28:17.699 --> 01:28:20.460
he did it because the drive was there. But when
01:28:20.460 --> 01:28:23.680
the body breaks down, it becomes hard. If you got
01:28:23.680 --> 01:28:26.380
arthritis, it's kind of hard to run up
01:28:26.380 --> 01:28:28.699
on somebody, inject them, take them back to your
01:28:28.699 --> 01:28:31.359
kill lab, and do all of this stuff in the middle
01:28:31.359 --> 01:28:34.420
of video cameras when you're in your 60s. In your
01:28:34.420 --> 01:28:39.800
20s, yeah, 30s, yes. 40s, maybe. 60s, it's hard.
01:28:40.199 --> 01:28:42.060
It's not that the will broke down. The body broke
01:28:42.060 --> 01:28:45.060
down. I'm going to surprise a lot of people because
01:28:45.060 --> 01:28:47.180
a lot of people just think I'm just some kind
01:28:47.180 --> 01:28:49.979
of a hard-ass. And in some ways, I guess that's
01:28:49.979 --> 01:28:55.159
true. I am in no way, shape, or form a defender
01:28:55.159 --> 01:28:57.380
of our current justice system. It's not a justice
01:28:57.380 --> 01:28:59.340
system, it's a legal system. The vast majority
01:28:59.340 --> 01:29:01.699
of people in jail should not be locked up in
01:29:01.699 --> 01:29:05.760
cages for 10, 15, 20, 30 years so the best years
01:29:05.760 --> 01:29:10.399
of their lives are wasted. If you're a drug dealer,
01:29:10.619 --> 01:29:13.239
you should be put down. You're selling poison.
01:29:13.479 --> 01:29:16.159
But if you're an addict, you should get rehab.
01:29:16.659 --> 01:29:18.539
You should go to a vocational school. You should
01:29:18.539 --> 01:29:21.000
learn a trade. If you are a car thief, to your
01:29:21.000 --> 01:29:23.130
point, Ted, that seems to be your—you're hanging
01:29:23.130 --> 01:29:26.989
up right now. Don't steal my car. Although, actually,
01:29:27.069 --> 01:29:29.850
it would be a blessing. I need a new one. Well,
01:29:29.850 --> 01:29:32.510
the point is that there are a lot of things you're
01:29:32.510 --> 01:29:35.270
able to do where you're able to pay restitution,
01:29:35.270 --> 01:29:37.989
to pay off the person that you hurt either physically
01:29:37.989 --> 01:29:41.310
or by stealing their stuff, learn a trade, and
01:29:41.310 --> 01:29:43.850
then become a productive member of society. Felons
01:29:43.850 --> 01:29:45.529
should not have their voting rights stripped
01:29:45.529 --> 01:29:47.569
from them forever. That's dumb. It's stupid.
01:29:48.289 --> 01:29:51.430
Agreed. Our system is not about justice, and
01:29:51.430 --> 01:29:53.729
it's not about redemption. It's about profit.
01:29:54.649 --> 01:29:57.470
That is a statement of fact. That being said,
01:29:57.689 --> 01:30:00.930
if you are intentionally going out of your way
01:30:00.930 --> 01:30:04.529
and you are destroying someone's life, either
01:30:04.529 --> 01:30:07.109
by raping them or selling the poison, that person
01:30:07.109 --> 01:30:09.050
dies of a drug overdose, or if you murder someone,
01:30:10.609 --> 01:30:13.329
you should not be on death row for 30 years.
01:30:14.130 --> 01:30:16.430
After six months, your head should be on a spike.
01:30:16.590 --> 01:30:19.260
I'm sorry. You're done. You're kind of agreeing
01:30:19.260 --> 01:30:21.680
with me, Robby. It's if we're going to
01:30:21.680 --> 01:30:23.739
kill people, we should just kill them and not
01:30:23.739 --> 01:30:26.619
kill them after 23, 40 years. Justice delayed
01:30:26.619 --> 01:30:28.800
is justice denied. There's no justice in the
01:30:28.800 --> 01:30:31.979
system. It is all about profit. And the vast
01:30:31.979 --> 01:30:34.380
majority of people in jail should not be there.
01:30:35.630 --> 01:30:37.409
They should be given a chance. They should get
01:30:37.409 --> 01:30:40.909
education. They should get a chance at starting
01:30:40.909 --> 01:30:42.770
a business. They should have a chance at starting
01:30:42.770 --> 01:30:46.710
a new life. And they should really be made to
01:30:46.710 --> 01:30:49.829
understand the harm that society suffers when
01:30:49.829 --> 01:30:54.010
they commit a crime. That's the Chinese system.
01:30:54.430 --> 01:30:56.750
There's a difference between redemption, which
01:30:56.750 --> 01:30:59.529
I'm a firm believer of, and then giving someone
01:30:59.529 --> 01:31:02.619
and say, oh, well, yeah, sure, you murdered this
01:31:02.619 --> 01:31:05.380
person, but no, 40 years has passed. First of
01:31:05.380 --> 01:31:06.739
all, I shouldn't be sucking air for 40 years.
01:31:06.819 --> 01:31:08.119
So now you're a different person because you
01:31:08.119 --> 01:31:10.199
aged out. No, sorry, your head should be on a
01:31:10.199 --> 01:31:15.020
spike. Look, I would agree. With justice deferred
01:31:15.020 --> 01:31:19.029
is justice not. You have my agreement. And if
01:31:19.029 --> 01:31:26.239
they get all of the legal due process, it's that
01:31:26.239 --> 01:31:29.060
part. It's not that I love. Well, they never
01:31:29.060 --> 01:31:33.270
get due process. Well, due process from the standpoint
01:31:33.270 --> 01:31:36.449
of the legal wranglings that take place, which
01:31:36.449 --> 01:31:38.109
is why this stuff takes place for all of its
01:31:38.109 --> 01:31:39.789
time. But they were mostly
01:31:39.789 --> 01:31:42.109
never properly represented in the first place.
01:31:42.890 --> 01:31:45.109
Well, there's that, too. It depends.
01:31:45.659 --> 01:31:47.359
Most people who are on death row aren't rich,
01:31:47.359 --> 01:31:51.930
right? Right. Yeah. And they're disproportionately
01:31:51.930 --> 01:31:54.949
Black because they're disproportionately poor,
01:31:54.949 --> 01:32:02.010
right? So yeah. Okay, so one comment here
01:32:02.010 --> 01:32:04.909
from Maria Lore. It's really simple. If you participate
01:32:04.909 --> 01:32:07.189
in capital executions, you're an accomplice in
01:32:07.189 --> 01:32:11.020
murder. It is state murder. It is
01:32:11.020 --> 01:32:13.279
state murder. Yeah, the state is making a choice
01:32:13.279 --> 01:32:17.970
for killing. Yes, no question. Which, and they
01:32:17.970 --> 01:32:22.010
up often, which is as we've seen. I would say the
01:32:22.010 --> 01:32:24.810
state of Tennessee has lost its execution
01:32:24.810 --> 01:32:28.149
license. It's, dudes, you can't be trusted
01:32:28.149 --> 01:32:31.770
to execute anyone. You're too stupid. If Tennessee
01:32:31.770 --> 01:32:33.729
can't get this right, either they need to start
01:32:33.729 --> 01:32:36.149
going back to firing squads or adopt the Iranian
01:32:36.149 --> 01:32:38.710
model and throw someone off of a skyscraper. See,
01:32:38.710 --> 01:32:40.909
they don't want to do that because that looks—
01:32:40.909 --> 01:32:47.560
that looks too impolite. And in fact, to
01:32:47.560 --> 01:32:50.079
your point, Jamarl, what's going on here is that
01:32:50.079 --> 01:32:52.060
this system, their current system, which was
01:32:52.060 --> 01:32:55.420
meant to look more polite, is looking rude. It
01:32:55.420 --> 01:33:00.479
looks horrible. It's the look that's really
01:33:00.479 --> 01:33:02.539
fucking them up here. The look is the issue.
01:33:02.659 --> 01:33:05.380
It's, oh man, firing squad looks so violent.
01:33:05.960 --> 01:33:06.939
It looks like we're actually killing somebody.
01:33:06.939 --> 01:33:08.899
But now firing squad's looking a little better.
01:33:09.369 --> 01:33:11.689
Yeah. It's, we want them to look like. Speaking
01:33:11.689 --> 01:33:14.189
of which, firing squad, let's talk about Hasan
01:33:14.189 --> 01:33:18.130
Piker. So Hasan Piker was—sorry, Hasan
01:33:18.130 --> 01:33:20.550
Piker, Nidal Hasan. God, I can't believe it.
01:33:20.550 --> 01:33:24.850
I was, what? Yeah. Different Hasan, right?
01:33:26.250 --> 01:33:33.069
Yeah, so he was the Fort Hood shooter in 2009.
01:33:33.090 --> 01:33:38.689
He was a psychologist, right, at this base in
01:33:38.689 --> 01:33:43.850
Texas. His job was to basically counsel returning
01:33:43.850 --> 01:33:48.289
vets with PTSD from Afghanistan and Iraq. He
01:33:48.289 --> 01:33:52.029
slowly got radicalized, and basically the people
01:33:52.029 --> 01:33:56.210
who sentenced him to death in the military
01:33:56.210 --> 01:34:00.029
tribunal, they said that he was basically that
01:34:00.029 --> 01:34:04.029
the main cause motivation here was Islamic radicalization,
01:34:04.029 --> 01:34:06.850
but they kind of brushed off the fact that he
01:34:06.850 --> 01:34:08.989
was kind of losing his mind even
01:34:08.989 --> 01:34:13.470
before that. Some of his co-workers were questioning
01:34:13.470 --> 01:34:18.369
whether he was psychotic. He—some other
01:34:18.369 --> 01:34:20.770
instructors were worried about him. They said
01:34:20.770 --> 01:34:23.350
that he was checked out, aloof, paranoid, weird-
01:34:23.350 --> 01:34:27.500
ass. And anyway, and then he went on a rampage
01:34:27.500 --> 01:34:31.720
and used grenades and guns to kill his colleagues
01:34:31.720 --> 01:34:34.340
at Fort Hood. And he was sentenced to death.
01:34:35.199 --> 01:34:40.479
He's been languishing since 2009 in the military
01:34:40.479 --> 01:34:45.159
brig. Pete Hegseth, who is heterosexual in all
01:34:45.159 --> 01:34:48.159
respects and not gay and is not attracted to
01:34:48.159 --> 01:34:51.180
men in any way, shape, or form and has a lot of
01:34:51.180 --> 01:34:53.920
testosterone that's not directed towards having
01:34:53.920 --> 01:34:57.520
sex with men's anuses, said that justice is finally
01:34:57.520 --> 01:35:00.699
going to be served and that they're going to
01:35:00.699 --> 01:35:04.359
subject him, and Trump signed off on this, to death
01:35:04.359 --> 01:35:07.520
by firing squad. And they're all very proud of
01:35:07.520 --> 01:35:10.020
this, to the point where the White House is messaging
01:35:10.020 --> 01:35:13.359
this on their official Twitter feed, and they're
01:35:13.359 --> 01:35:16.279
bragging about how they're finally going to carry
01:35:16.279 --> 01:35:20.340
out justice against this guy. My take on
01:35:21.069 --> 01:35:24.630
this guy, not the Sun Piker, Nidal Hasan,
01:35:24.630 --> 01:35:29.189
is that he's a nut, that he's a broken person
01:35:29.189 --> 01:35:33.449
whose mind was fried at some point, and
01:35:33.449 --> 01:35:38.270
they should—the insanity defense didn't
01:35:38.270 --> 01:35:41.550
work. Didn't work. It almost never works in civilian
01:35:41.550 --> 01:35:44.270
court, but it didn't work because it was military
01:35:44.270 --> 01:35:47.510
court, where they have a different system of justice.
01:35:47.510 --> 01:35:50.970
But the point is he should be in a
01:35:50.970 --> 01:35:54.430
psychiatric institution, right? Not subjected
01:35:54.430 --> 01:35:58.640
to firing squad. They shouldn't be proud about
01:35:58.640 --> 01:36:01.930
it. It shouldn't be anything about it. Why are
01:36:01.930 --> 01:36:05.829
you—they're so bloodthirsty and gleeful
01:36:05.829 --> 01:36:08.010
about it. They're having a great time. They're
01:36:08.010 --> 01:36:10.449
congratulating themselves, which I don't quite
01:36:10.449 --> 01:36:12.649
get. Can I just tell you, I think that there's
01:36:12.649 --> 01:36:15.569
a lot of race coding going on here.
01:36:15.569 --> 01:36:17.970
It's the fact that he's Muslim and he has
01:36:17.970 --> 01:36:21.100
that name. Nidal Hasan, they're otherizing
01:36:21.100 --> 01:36:23.619
him. They're, oh, literally
01:36:23.619 --> 01:36:26.359
these days, all the talking points on the right
01:36:26.359 --> 01:36:29.119
on social media are about the evils of Islam.
01:36:29.319 --> 01:36:33.260
Right. Our New York City's evil Muslim mayor
01:36:33.260 --> 01:36:38.260
in France. Cities are burning because Muslims
01:36:38.260 --> 01:36:40.880
are in the schools and are setting them on fire.
01:36:40.979 --> 01:36:44.180
None of this is true. And
01:36:44.180 --> 01:36:47.229
this is, and it's. If this dude were white,
01:36:47.350 --> 01:36:49.510
the guy who blew up the federal building
01:36:49.510 --> 01:36:52.750
in Oklahoma City, they wouldn't be doing this.
01:36:54.590 --> 01:36:58.319
Yeah, I don't get the pride in this. I don't
01:36:58.319 --> 01:37:03.649
get the, a man murders a bunch of people, and
01:37:03.649 --> 01:37:06.890
the process of, quote unquote, justice that takes
01:37:06.890 --> 01:37:10.430
place, it's the process of justice. Turning
01:37:10.430 --> 01:37:12.829
around and somehow boosting this, look
01:37:12.829 --> 01:37:15.069
how great we are because we did so-and-so.
01:37:15.310 --> 01:37:19.300
That doesn't feel right. I can't put my finger
01:37:19.300 --> 01:37:21.039
on it. It doesn't feel right. The chest thump
01:37:21.039 --> 01:37:23.520
it. It's just is what it is, if that makes sense.
01:37:24.250 --> 01:37:26.029
There are all sorts of people who are, as
01:37:26.029 --> 01:37:28.569
you point out, either put to death, put in prison,
01:37:28.729 --> 01:37:30.470
et cetera, et cetera. None of those people get
01:37:30.470 --> 01:37:32.729
the president chest-thumping about X, Y, Z taking
01:37:32.729 --> 01:37:35.350
place. It very well could be the fact that he
01:37:35.350 --> 01:37:39.130
is Muslim that they are effectively languishing
01:37:39.130 --> 01:37:42.369
on. But him being a Muslim most likely had nothing
01:37:42.369 --> 01:37:46.340
to do with this. Anybody could be radicalized.
01:37:47.840 --> 01:37:49.340
Looking at what the United States is effectively
01:37:49.340 --> 01:37:51.199
doing around the world, the killings and everything
01:37:51.199 --> 01:37:53.159
else, you may feel some kind of way about that.
01:37:54.119 --> 01:37:57.430
But that doesn't mean that the people go and
01:37:57.430 --> 01:37:59.890
shoot up a place. Something else may be going
01:37:59.890 --> 01:38:01.569
on here. I agree with you that this is probably
01:38:01.569 --> 01:38:03.850
a psychological thing. I think it's two things.
01:38:05.890 --> 01:38:09.810
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cut you off. No,
01:38:09.890 --> 01:38:12.479
I was saying I think it's two things. One, Trump
01:38:12.479 --> 01:38:14.920
is trying to signal to his base. He knows the
01:38:14.920 --> 01:38:17.159
Republicans are going to get wrecked in November,
01:38:17.340 --> 01:38:19.140
and he's trying to show that he's strong on crime
01:38:19.140 --> 01:38:22.300
and that we're bringing justice to this Islamic
01:38:22.300 --> 01:38:25.079
terrorist. I think that's part of it. It's not
01:38:25.079 --> 01:38:28.199
going to do any good. But on the flip side of
01:38:28.199 --> 01:38:30.760
it, though, I think you see this with Republicans
01:38:30.760 --> 01:38:33.949
and Democrats. They love the idea of killing.
01:38:34.550 --> 01:38:37.229
They love the idea of killing. There is no greater
01:38:37.229 --> 01:38:40.050
power that anyone can have than to take a life.
01:38:40.380 --> 01:38:42.359
There's no greater power. It's a thrill. It's
01:38:42.359 --> 01:38:44.789
like a drug to these people. There's one thing about killing someone out of justice.
01:38:48.630 --> 01:38:50.729
The government should be the sort of the
01:38:50.729 --> 01:38:52.850
state show, but it should be about justice. This
01:38:52.850 --> 01:38:54.989
is about justice. This is them getting
01:38:54.989 --> 01:38:58.810
off on killing, which is wrong. There's
01:38:58.810 --> 01:39:02.750
no such thing as justice. There are approximations
01:39:02.750 --> 01:39:05.390
that people have in their minds of trying to
01:39:05.390 --> 01:39:07.329
balance an equation that can never be balanced,
01:39:07.329 --> 01:39:10.399
because whatever the fuck just happened still
01:39:10.399 --> 01:39:12.760
exists. I don't believe in the thing of justice.
01:39:13.020 --> 01:39:16.869
People may try to give revenge. They can try
01:39:16.869 --> 01:39:21.810
to create deterrence. Justice is hard because
01:39:21.810 --> 01:39:24.409
so many people think of it different ways. Robby
01:39:24.409 --> 01:39:26.529
thinks it's justice to kill a drug dealer. I
01:39:26.529 --> 01:39:29.069
don't. Which one is right? Depends upon who you
01:39:29.069 --> 01:39:31.880
talk to, right? Society can come up with all
01:39:31.880 --> 01:39:34.539
sorts of ideas of what some kind of approximation
01:39:34.539 --> 01:39:37.699
is in order to balance an equation. I don't know
01:39:37.699 --> 01:39:39.479
the equation. I don't know how you balance the
01:39:39.479 --> 01:39:42.109
equation. In this case, the guy killed a lot
01:39:42.109 --> 01:39:44.390
of people. They're going to execute him for it.
01:39:45.050 --> 01:39:49.170
Does it balance an equation? Not really. Not
01:39:49.170 --> 01:39:51.529
really. I don't know. There's something
01:39:51.689 --> 01:39:56.350
nasty in chest-thumping this. I get the
01:39:56.350 --> 01:39:58.590
state does what the state does, but murder shouldn't
01:39:58.590 --> 01:40:00.909
necessarily be something that people applaud,
01:40:01.659 --> 01:40:05.659
really. Let's definitely have it on television.
01:40:06.140 --> 01:40:08.739
That's what I was about to say. Do y'all think
01:40:08.739 --> 01:40:10.420
that Trump would sell pay-per-view tickets?
01:40:11.060 --> 01:40:14.229
I could see it. You get to see us waste this
01:40:14.229 --> 01:40:16.310
time. No, it should be free. It should be on
01:40:16.310 --> 01:40:18.909
C-SPAN. Trump doesn't do nothing for free. It's
01:40:18.909 --> 01:40:21.890
always a good detail. There's always a good detail.
01:40:22.409 --> 01:40:24.930
And Laura Loomer would be right there. She'd
01:40:24.930 --> 01:40:27.229
be cheerleading it. We're going to send this
01:40:27.229 --> 01:40:31.409
evil dog-eating Muslim to meet his God. We're
01:40:31.409 --> 01:40:32.529
going to be doing it. They're going to get off
01:40:32.529 --> 01:40:35.689
on it when his brains are splattered out of
01:40:35.689 --> 01:40:38.590
his body as a courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer.
01:40:39.420 --> 01:40:41.359
It's going to come as a mercy to him. You can look at his face. He
01:40:44.239 --> 01:40:48.960
is so tortured and fucked up. He's a soldier.
01:40:50.460 --> 01:40:53.079
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I strongly suspect, I think
01:40:53.079 --> 01:40:54.619
I agree with you. If this was in a regular court,
01:40:55.250 --> 01:40:57.850
he might have gotten off on insanity stuff. But
01:40:57.850 --> 01:40:59.829
I don't know. Sometimes when the killing is bad,
01:41:00.170 --> 01:41:04.890
the insanity plea just doesn't work. The insanity
01:41:04.890 --> 01:41:08.109
plea doesn't—it works only a small fraction
01:41:08.109 --> 01:41:10.989
of the time that it ought to. Yeah, I think most—I think a lot of people who kill people
01:41:14.250 --> 01:41:17.699
are psychotic. That's—this could create—if everybody who was
01:41:20.279 --> 01:41:22.899
truly insane, and let's say we could climb into
01:41:22.899 --> 01:41:25.199
their brains under the hood and really determine
01:41:25.199 --> 01:41:27.520
that, we may get to that point to be able to do
01:41:27.520 --> 01:41:30.939
that, right? At some point it might be determined
01:41:30.939 --> 01:41:33.779
just simply by a certain level of amino acids
01:41:33.779 --> 01:41:36.359
that, oh, this person's insane. We
01:41:36.359 --> 01:41:38.420
were able to determine that beyond a shadow of
01:41:38.420 --> 01:41:43.340
a doubt. And it's probably half of half
01:41:43.340 --> 01:41:45.909
of everybody who's convicted of murder
01:41:45.909 --> 01:41:48.989
probably should be sent to an asylum instead,
01:41:48.989 --> 01:41:53.989
instead of prison. I think a lot about
01:41:53.989 --> 01:41:57.170
the human system later, meaning we are—have
01:41:57.170 --> 01:41:59.710
you seen those things that they can hook up
01:41:59.710 --> 01:42:01.529
to a person's brain and see what the person on
01:42:01.529 --> 01:42:03.229
some level is thinking? The computer is making
01:42:03.229 --> 01:42:06.069
an interpretation, but it makes your horse running,
01:42:06.069 --> 01:42:08.069
and it says you're thinking of a horse, and person
01:42:08.069 --> 01:42:10.390
saying yes, yes. On some level that's terrifying.
01:42:10.390 --> 01:42:13.489
On some level that stuff is exciting. There's
01:42:13.489 --> 01:42:17.090
stuff like this. It's cool, kind of. But it's
01:42:17.090 --> 01:42:19.590
frightening also, yeah. Yeah, it's a capitalistic
01:42:19.590 --> 01:42:21.390
system, man. They're not making that stuff
01:42:21.390 --> 01:42:25.630
for my benefit, or just because they're curious
01:42:25.630 --> 01:42:28.970
and want the knowledge, right? Yeah. Right. There's
01:42:28.970 --> 01:42:30.590
a motivation for it, because somebody has to pay
01:42:30.590 --> 01:42:31.989
for the equipment. Somebody has to pay for the
01:42:31.989 --> 01:42:33.350
time. Somebody has to pay for it, et cetera,
01:42:33.430 --> 01:42:35.489
et cetera, which means they're doing it under
01:42:35.489 --> 01:42:37.149
this idea that this is going to be profitable
01:42:37.149 --> 01:42:39.670
later. Okay, profitable how? Well, we may have
01:42:39.670 --> 01:42:41.609
brain devices that can look into a person's brain.
01:42:41.789 --> 01:42:44.699
Okay, well, what about control? Can you also
01:42:44.699 --> 01:42:46.340
send electrical signals to the brain in order
01:42:46.340 --> 01:42:48.600
to control the individual itself? Okay, well,
01:42:48.659 --> 01:42:53.710
that terrifies me. That's terrifying. It's one
01:42:53.710 --> 01:42:56.789
thing if we were in a kumbaya world, you had
01:42:56.789 --> 01:43:00.520
your communist utopia, planned economy, the world
01:43:00.520 --> 01:43:02.859
is great. We're at the end of history. There's
01:43:02.859 --> 01:43:05.890
no poverty. There's no capitalistic instinct
01:43:05.890 --> 01:43:08.609
of, hey, we need to make a huge profit on this.
01:43:08.949 --> 01:43:10.770
We're making technology because of the benefit
01:43:10.770 --> 01:43:13.229
of society. Okay, then fair enough. I'm there.
01:43:14.409 --> 01:43:18.670
But just robots? No. Or them putting you on a
01:43:18.670 --> 01:43:20.609
lie detector in a courtroom and they can look
01:43:20.609 --> 01:43:21.909
in your brain and they're asking you questions
01:43:21.909 --> 01:43:23.729
and everything shows up on the thing and they
01:43:23.729 --> 01:43:26.909
can get a legal document, a court order to plug
01:43:26.909 --> 01:43:29.369
you into this machine to see your thoughts. I
01:43:29.369 --> 01:43:33.510
don't know if I want that. Absolutely. It's also
01:43:33.510 --> 01:43:35.609
the last place where we still have some privacy,
01:43:35.770 --> 01:43:41.279
right? Yeah. The last frontier. European Union.
01:43:42.699 --> 01:43:46.800
So they're—I don't know how I feel about the
01:43:46.800 --> 01:43:50.060
fact that, so it has 27 members already.
01:43:50.239 --> 01:43:54.439
They want to expand further. They want to, the
01:43:54.439 --> 01:44:01.279
EU. They want to, so in order—the countries
01:44:01.279 --> 01:44:04.319
that are next in line, they say, are Montenegro,
01:44:04.319 --> 01:44:07.300
Albania. Those make sense. They're in Europe.
01:44:07.579 --> 01:44:13.199
But Ukraine and Moldova, are they really in Europe?
01:44:13.220 --> 01:44:17.159
-ish, on the edges anyway, on the periphery
01:44:17.159 --> 01:44:21.260
of Europe. Anyway, so they're talking about,
01:44:21.260 --> 01:44:25.680
pardon, it depends on whether you think Russia
01:44:25.680 --> 01:44:29.300
is Europe, meaning if you think it's Europe, then
01:44:29.300 --> 01:44:31.399
Ukraine is part of Europe. Historically,
01:44:31.399 --> 01:44:34.680
yeah, historically Western Russia has been considered
01:44:34.680 --> 01:44:37.560
part of Europe, right? So okay, fine, fair enough.
01:44:37.560 --> 01:44:43.149
So anyway, the point is, and I know that
01:44:43.149 --> 01:44:45.510
this is not really a Russia thing. The Russians
01:44:45.510 --> 01:44:48.909
don't even care if the Ukrainians join the EU.
01:44:49.130 --> 01:44:51.810
They're fine with it. I don't know that. That's
01:44:51.810 --> 01:44:55.489
what Putin said. Putin says he has no issue with
01:44:55.489 --> 01:44:57.250
it at all. He said it over and over and over.
01:44:57.350 --> 01:45:00.149
I think it actually would serve to Russia's advantage
01:45:00.149 --> 01:45:03.550
to have an EU member state run on its border,
01:45:03.550 --> 01:45:05.810
because in the future they'd be able to trade
01:45:05.810 --> 01:45:09.340
with it and it would be right there. I don't
01:45:09.340 --> 01:45:11.800
know. Because the EU has become so militarized.
01:45:13.520 --> 01:45:17.310
In the very beginning, maybe. But now, keep in mind that there was the entire impetus
01:45:19.890 --> 01:45:22.949
of this. Rees-Mogg often didn't necessarily
01:45:22.949 --> 01:45:25.670
want to bring this up. I would bring it up. Part
01:45:25.670 --> 01:45:28.350
of the reason that the war took place in the
01:45:28.350 --> 01:45:31.130
first place. Ukraine was given a deal by Europe.
01:45:32.010 --> 01:45:34.050
Ukraine was given a deal by the Russians. The
01:45:34.050 --> 01:45:36.109
Russian deal was obviously better. The Europeans
01:45:36.109 --> 01:45:38.210
were pushing Ukraine to take that deal. Ukraine
01:45:38.210 --> 01:45:40.970
didn't take that deal. And all hell broke loose,
01:45:41.579 --> 01:45:44.649
which means there was a closeness
01:45:44.649 --> 01:45:48.069
attempted with trying to get Ukraine into
01:45:48.069 --> 01:45:50.029
the EU, or at the very least to be some kind
01:45:50.029 --> 01:45:51.550
of trade deal with the European Union that would
01:45:51.550 --> 01:45:53.550
have locked it into all sorts of things where
01:45:53.550 --> 01:45:55.350
it could necessarily make deals and trades with
01:45:55.350 --> 01:45:58.210
Russia. I don't know if Russia is going to be
01:45:58.210 --> 01:46:00.109
okay with that going forward. For one,
01:46:00.229 --> 01:46:02.069
I don't even know, I don't even believe Ukraine
01:46:02.069 --> 01:46:03.869
is going to maintain the government it has now.
01:46:04.779 --> 01:46:08.340
So a Russian puppet government of Ukraine
01:46:08.340 --> 01:46:13.399
being part of the European Union, maybe.
01:46:13.399 --> 01:46:16.319
I don't know. That's where this is relevant, and
01:46:16.319 --> 01:46:18.500
I think actually what you're saying is so
01:46:18.500 --> 01:46:22.319
germane to this. So in order—they have—they've just—the European
01:46:24.739 --> 01:46:28.380
Commission has just promoted some more some
01:46:28.380 --> 01:46:31.579
reforms for what requirements there would be
01:46:31.579 --> 01:46:35.140
for new member states, including Ukraine, right?
01:46:35.140 --> 01:46:37.300
So one of them is what they could—they want to
01:46:37.300 --> 01:46:40.199
prevent democratic backsliding. They're comparing
01:46:40.199 --> 01:46:44.149
it to Viktor Orbán in Hungary. So they want to
01:46:44.149 --> 01:46:46.510
know. So they're saying that they would have—
01:46:46.510 --> 01:46:49.789
if once you're admitted to the EU as a new state,
01:46:49.970 --> 01:46:52.890
you would be kind of on probation for 15 years.
01:46:53.489 --> 01:46:57.630
And then if you rolled back rule of law or human
01:46:57.630 --> 01:47:00.729
rights reforms, then your money, your funding
01:47:00.729 --> 01:47:03.390
would be frozen and your council voting rights
01:47:03.390 --> 01:47:07.770
would be suspended. Obviously, that's
01:47:07.770 --> 01:47:09.850
seems to be targeted at countries like Ukraine, which,
01:47:09.909 --> 01:47:14.229
as you say, may very well end up with a different
01:47:14.229 --> 01:47:17.670
form of government post-Zelensky. Well, but Ukraine is a democracy with no Nazis. Right.
01:47:21.890 --> 01:47:24.850
It's a democracy with no elections. And it's
01:47:24.850 --> 01:47:29.229
got a Jewish president who has no problem going
01:47:29.229 --> 01:47:31.449
to memorial services for Nazi collaborators.
01:47:31.890 --> 01:47:34.649
Right. But I'm just making an argument like this.
01:47:34.829 --> 01:47:37.529
I'm making a joke about how they, well, there
01:47:37.529 --> 01:47:39.510
are no Nazis in Ukraine, and this is obviously
01:47:39.510 --> 01:47:41.970
a bastion of democracy, and people aren't being
01:47:41.970 --> 01:47:44.489
snatched off the streets by goons and thugs and
01:47:44.489 --> 01:47:46.869
thrown in the jeeps and cars and driven to their
01:47:46.869 --> 01:47:48.909
deaths. No, none of those things are happening.
01:47:48.909 --> 01:47:50.890
And by the way, they still say that. They still
01:47:50.890 --> 01:47:54.039
say there are no press gangs, and you can see
01:47:54.039 --> 01:47:56.060
video after video after video. There are no Nazis
01:47:56.060 --> 01:48:00.039
in Ukraine. There were German tanks with Nazi insignias
01:48:00.039 --> 01:48:02.760
riding through Kursk for the first time in
01:48:02.760 --> 01:48:05.909
60, 70 years, right? Don't give me this nonsense,
01:48:05.909 --> 01:48:08.869
right? I don't know how this puppet government
01:48:08.869 --> 01:48:10.970
that will be put into play when the war ends,
01:48:10.970 --> 01:48:13.689
because Ukraine will lose, and they are not, right?
01:48:13.689 --> 01:48:16.930
Russia is not going to allow this puppet or this
01:48:16.930 --> 01:48:19.989
government that is effectively a foil for
01:48:19.989 --> 01:48:21.970
them. They're not going to tolerate a
01:48:21.970 --> 01:48:26.170
Yanukovych-type situation again, where
01:48:26.170 --> 01:48:29.229
they have an ally but who's weak. They're going
01:48:29.229 --> 01:48:31.550
to need to have their person
01:48:31.550 --> 01:48:35.359
in. Their person. And so this notion of joining
01:48:35.359 --> 01:48:38.220
the European Union, it's, how does that
01:48:38.220 --> 01:48:42.439
work? Europe. And then it's, how does
01:48:42.439 --> 01:48:45.159
this work in the context of a war? I don't know
01:48:45.159 --> 01:48:46.899
how that works in the context of a war where
01:48:46.899 --> 01:48:50.000
Ukraine is being bombed to smithereens. How does
01:48:50.000 --> 01:48:52.920
that work? Ukraine is being—for one, Kramatorsk,
01:48:52.920 --> 01:48:55.399
Slovyansk is being surrounded. Russia is making
01:48:55.399 --> 01:48:57.199
gains on other fronts. And I think there are
01:48:57.199 --> 01:48:59.100
parts of the front that was fluid, in Lyman,
01:48:59.140 --> 01:49:02.319
the last I checked. But they are being rained
01:49:02.319 --> 01:49:06.449
with missiles every night going for the last
01:49:06.449 --> 01:49:08.930
several days at the very least. And this doesn't
01:49:08.930 --> 01:49:10.310
even touch the other parts of Ukraine that are
01:49:10.310 --> 01:49:14.750
getting hit. How does a country that is $30 billion
01:49:14.750 --> 01:49:18.229
shortfall this year, and will have another
01:49:18.229 --> 01:49:20.989
shortfall next year and the next year, how does
01:49:20.989 --> 01:49:23.479
that join the European Union? I don't know how
01:49:23.479 --> 01:49:26.960
that works. I get it for Albania. Albania
01:49:26.960 --> 01:49:29.960
is a great place. I get it for Albania. I don't
01:49:29.960 --> 01:49:33.039
know how it works for Ukraine. I just don't. Yeah.
01:49:33.100 --> 01:49:35.720
Not to mention after years of war. Right. Just they have a lot of reconstruction to do.
01:49:40.109 --> 01:49:41.550
And who's going to pay for the reconstruction?
01:49:41.789 --> 01:49:43.449
That's the other interesting part. Well, that's
01:49:43.449 --> 01:49:46.229
my—yeah, that's my point here. And then the other
01:49:46.229 --> 01:49:48.970
thing, the other European Commission in Brussels
01:49:48.970 --> 01:49:52.989
also came up with another proposed reform for
01:49:52.989 --> 01:49:55.989
new member states. They say that. And so currently
01:49:55.989 --> 01:49:59.989
there's one—a single country can veto a proposal.
01:50:00.840 --> 01:50:04.840
That would no longer be true. They'd go to qualified
01:50:04.840 --> 01:50:08.939
majority voting so that on a bunch of important
01:50:08.939 --> 01:50:12.779
processes, no one country could veto any proposed
01:50:12.779 --> 01:50:15.479
policy change. So basically, they kind of want
01:50:15.479 --> 01:50:20.060
to turn. Oh, wait a minute. Can
01:50:20.060 --> 01:50:22.140
we add one thing to this? They're so foolish.
01:50:23.079 --> 01:50:26.520
They're so foolish about this. Obviously, they're
01:50:26.520 --> 01:50:28.380
doing this because Hungary kept holding up. Hungary
01:50:28.380 --> 01:50:30.479
and Slovakia was holding up a lot of the
01:50:30.479 --> 01:50:31.979
stuff that they wanted to do in regards to the
01:50:31.979 --> 01:50:34.720
European Union to, quote, punish Russia, right? So
01:50:34.720 --> 01:50:37.800
their thing now is, okay, we can't give majority
01:50:37.800 --> 01:50:41.000
support in the way that we operated prior, and
01:50:41.000 --> 01:50:43.119
we want to take the European Union to war with
01:50:43.119 --> 01:50:46.699
Russia in an economic sense, even against our
01:50:46.699 --> 01:50:49.149
member states, because keep in mind the stuff
01:50:49.149 --> 01:50:51.029
that they were doing were damaging many of the
01:50:51.029 --> 01:50:52.970
countries in Europe, and they still were going
01:50:52.970 --> 01:50:55.949
along with it. Hungary, Viktor Orbán was, this
01:50:55.949 --> 01:50:58.390
is nonsense. Why are we doing this? And you're
01:50:58.390 --> 01:50:59.949
trying to damage us, so we're not going to take
01:50:59.949 --> 01:51:03.350
policy that's going to damage us. And they hated
01:51:03.350 --> 01:51:05.550
that, right? They did everything in their power
01:51:05.550 --> 01:51:07.970
to get rid of Viktor Orbán. They hated his guts.
01:51:08.350 --> 01:51:10.189
Don't give me this democracy shit. What they
01:51:10.189 --> 01:51:15.479
did in Romania is outrageous. It's outrageous.
01:51:15.579 --> 01:51:17.140
And even the stuff that Germany is doing, where
01:51:17.140 --> 01:51:19.479
they're going after the AfD, trying to find legal
01:51:19.479 --> 01:51:21.260
ways in order to keep them from taking power
01:51:21.260 --> 01:51:23.460
in the various locations. I'm trying to point
01:51:23.460 --> 01:51:26.119
out that this idea that they are, quote, democratic
01:51:26.119 --> 01:51:30.899
is nonsense. And this provision is one of those
01:51:30.899 --> 01:51:33.279
things of, okay, let's not just have this. Let's
01:51:33.279 --> 01:51:35.960
just have majority support so we can do any and
01:51:35.960 --> 01:51:38.340
everything that we want to do. Well, and you
01:51:38.340 --> 01:51:40.560
know, it's so funny because it's so transparent,
01:51:40.699 --> 01:51:42.279
right? It's, okay, so we set up the rules
01:51:42.279 --> 01:51:44.819
this one way, all for one, one for
01:51:44.819 --> 01:51:47.060
all, from the very beginning.
01:51:47.420 --> 01:51:49.340
And if you're in, you're a full-fledged member.
01:51:49.600 --> 01:51:52.600
And even if you're little Montenegro, you're
01:51:52.600 --> 01:51:56.340
as powerful as France. Okay, whatever. But then
01:51:56.340 --> 01:51:58.979
it's, oh. The votes aren't going our way.
01:51:59.220 --> 01:52:03.039
We have Hungary is causing us problems.
01:52:03.220 --> 01:52:05.880
They're voting. So rather than try to convince
01:52:05.880 --> 01:52:09.220
Hungary or make it sweet in the pot for them
01:52:09.220 --> 01:52:12.319
or whatever, work with them, or accept the fact
01:52:12.319 --> 01:52:14.100
that it's not going to happen because Hungary
01:52:14.100 --> 01:52:16.779
says no, we're going to change the rules so that
01:52:16.779 --> 01:52:18.979
we can just sort of ignore their vote.
01:52:18.979 --> 01:52:21.340
You can see this continuing logically to the
01:52:21.340 --> 01:52:23.979
point where even with a simple majority vote,
01:52:23.979 --> 01:52:26.199
if they start losing those simple majority votes,
01:52:26.199 --> 01:52:28.659
then they'll be, well, we should probably
01:52:28.659 --> 01:52:31.180
change the rules so that only France and Germany
01:52:31.180 --> 01:52:34.899
really get to vote. And it's, so we
01:52:34.899 --> 01:52:37.520
have to have our way no matter what. That's the
01:52:37.520 --> 01:52:40.260
thing. But the thing about a real democracy is
01:52:40.260 --> 01:52:43.399
you literally let the chips fall where they may.
01:52:43.399 --> 01:52:46.420
It's why the Democratic Party is not a
01:52:46.420 --> 01:52:49.619
small-d democratic institution. They're not willing
01:52:49.619 --> 01:52:52.520
to just let the voters show up and elect the
01:52:52.520 --> 01:52:55.699
people who win, and then you accept who won. That's
01:52:55.699 --> 01:52:57.699
what democracy is. You don't put your thumb on
01:52:57.699 --> 01:53:00.119
the scale and, oh, but if a democratic
01:53:00.119 --> 01:53:03.930
socialist from Vermont is going to win, well,
01:53:03.930 --> 01:53:06.529
we'll change the rules to not allow that.
01:53:06.529 --> 01:53:08.949
That's not a democracy. Yeah, it's supposed to
01:53:08.949 --> 01:53:11.270
be a process issue. It's a machine. You're
01:53:11.460 --> 01:53:14.609
not switching the gears to
01:53:14.609 --> 01:53:16.130
try to get something that you want. You made the
01:53:16.130 --> 01:53:18.069
machine the way you wanted it because you wanted
01:53:18.069 --> 01:53:20.670
it to function a particular way, and it's,
01:53:20.880 --> 01:53:22.979
God, man, this machine is not really giving me
01:53:22.979 --> 01:53:26.640
what we need. We need to make some adjustments
01:53:26.640 --> 01:53:30.960
here. It's banging on the Magic 8 Ball
01:53:30.960 --> 01:53:32.600
over and over because you're not getting the
01:53:32.600 --> 01:53:36.800
answer that you want. Or a court case, right?
01:53:37.140 --> 01:53:39.279
Where it's the judge is, God, man,
01:53:39.340 --> 01:53:40.880
this isn't giving us the answer that we need.
01:53:40.939 --> 01:53:42.600
So I need to somehow adjust what I'm doing in
01:53:42.600 --> 01:53:44.340
order to get the result that I want. It's that.
01:53:44.439 --> 01:53:48.180
Or the retrial. Oh, God, this person, we
01:53:48.180 --> 01:53:52.479
weren't able to convict them. There were 11 juries.
01:53:53.319 --> 01:53:55.760
We had only one juror who wanted to convict.
01:53:56.239 --> 01:53:58.359
We'll retry them. It'll be fine. We'll just keep
01:53:58.359 --> 01:54:00.659
going. We'll get the result at some point. And
01:54:00.659 --> 01:54:01.899
by the way, the European Union has done this
01:54:01.899 --> 01:54:05.229
before when I think it was Ireland,
01:54:05.229 --> 01:54:06.989
and it was somewhere else that didn't want to join
01:54:06.989 --> 01:54:09.170
initially, and they kept doing the vote over and
01:54:09.170 --> 01:54:11.270
over and over until they got the vote that they
01:54:11.270 --> 01:54:13.970
wanted. Now, the European Union is an institution
01:54:13.970 --> 01:54:16.810
that is very undemocratic. People think
01:54:16.810 --> 01:54:18.590
of the European—I'm sorry, the EU. Some people
01:54:18.590 --> 01:54:19.989
think of when they think of it, they think of
01:54:19.989 --> 01:54:21.350
the European Union. The European Union is a
01:54:21.350 --> 01:54:25.170
stamp. It's not the brain of the organization,
01:54:25.170 --> 01:54:28.449
right? The European Commission is the brain
01:54:28.449 --> 01:54:33.100
of the organization. But they have power diffused
01:54:33.100 --> 01:54:34.939
in very strange ways. People always talk about
01:54:34.939 --> 01:54:37.220
China. It's, oh, China is authoritarian. They're
01:54:37.220 --> 01:54:40.279
undemocratic. And you bring out, okay, well, this
01:54:40.279 --> 01:54:41.880
is how China does its elections. And it was,
01:54:41.880 --> 01:54:43.640
okay, well, that's not democratic. What the hell
01:54:43.640 --> 01:54:46.689
is this? The people who are chosen at the
01:54:46.689 --> 01:54:50.409
European Commission are not voted in. They are
01:54:50.409 --> 01:54:53.880
chosen, meaning it would be the way
01:54:53.880 --> 01:54:55.359
we used to do our politics, where the president
01:54:55.359 --> 01:54:56.760
was chosen from the House of Representatives
01:54:56.760 --> 01:54:58.439
or something like that. It's kind of that
01:54:58.439 --> 01:55:01.729
at some point. We started to choose the president
01:55:01.729 --> 01:55:05.340
directly. They never have. The European Union,
01:55:05.380 --> 01:55:07.180
the part that people actually vote on, is a rubber
01:55:07.180 --> 01:55:10.600
stamp and barely has power in the institution
01:55:10.600 --> 01:55:15.449
itself. And what they did to Romania is criminal.
01:55:16.550 --> 01:55:19.270
What they did to Romania is criminal. Călin
01:55:19.270 --> 01:55:22.470
Georgescu right now is facing jail once again.
01:55:22.510 --> 01:55:23.989
If I'm not mistaken, he was arrested a few days
01:55:23.989 --> 01:55:27.229
ago. He should be prime minister of Romania as
01:55:27.229 --> 01:55:29.229
we speak. He won the first round. He was going
01:55:29.229 --> 01:55:32.029
to win the second round. And they arrested him.
01:55:32.460 --> 01:55:36.569
Stop the elections. Stop the elections in order
01:55:36.569 --> 01:55:39.170
to put in somebody else so they can get the person
01:55:39.170 --> 01:55:40.949
that they wanted. That's what they tried
01:55:40.949 --> 01:55:44.810
to do to Marine Le Pen, right? Yeah. It's so
01:55:44.810 --> 01:55:47.550
outrageous. And what they're doing to the AfD,
01:55:47.550 --> 01:55:48.930
where they're having investigations and whatnot
01:55:48.930 --> 01:55:51.699
into the AfD. Before we go, we should talk a
01:55:51.699 --> 01:55:53.460
little bit about France. The protests are continuing.
01:55:54.140 --> 01:55:57.260
And by the way, the new polls show that if the
01:55:57.260 --> 01:55:59.680
runoff were held tomorrow, it would be between
01:55:59.680 --> 01:56:01.819
the far right and the far left. It would be between
01:56:01.819 --> 01:56:05.300
Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon. And there's
01:56:05.300 --> 01:56:12.109
no room for the centrists. Those sad, sad, sad.
01:56:12.989 --> 01:56:15.529
That would be—now, that's an election that,
01:56:15.630 --> 01:56:18.829
come on. Everyone has a reason to care
01:56:18.829 --> 01:56:20.810
about that one. There's going to be high voting
01:56:20.810 --> 01:56:22.729
or not for that. That's what our election should
01:56:22.729 --> 01:56:26.600
have been. Sanders and Trump. That's more honest,
01:56:26.819 --> 01:56:30.050
right? And a real—nobody could argue
01:56:30.050 --> 01:56:33.510
that there's not a stark choice. Yeah. Which
01:56:33.510 --> 01:56:35.789
is what would have gotten asses in seats, made
01:56:35.789 --> 01:56:37.270
people pay attention, they would have gave a
01:56:37.270 --> 01:56:39.850
shit. And by the way, Trump would have been trounced
01:56:39.850 --> 01:56:42.430
in that election. I don't believe that a blue-
01:56:42.430 --> 01:56:45.630
collar billionaire against a real lefty is going
01:56:45.630 --> 01:56:48.109
to be able to stand up to it. I agree with that.
01:56:48.510 --> 01:56:53.090
Totally. Okay, so we have a little Robby controversy
01:56:53.090 --> 01:56:56.909
to close out today's show with. Just filming,
01:56:56.949 --> 01:56:58.970
really. Robby has a very wild brain to be a
01:56:58.970 --> 01:57:00.729
Christian. Imagine listening to Robby on here
01:57:00.729 --> 01:57:03.050
and then seeing him in real life. And then, well,
01:57:03.130 --> 01:57:04.949
I don't have to imagine that. I've seen him in
01:57:04.949 --> 01:57:06.890
real life. And he tries to tell you about God
01:57:06.890 --> 01:57:09.430
or his religion. I don't know how any Christian
01:57:09.430 --> 01:57:12.369
can be so heartless. But then Philip Blair retorts,
01:57:12.489 --> 01:57:14.710
I don't think Robby is heartless. I think Robby
01:57:14.710 --> 01:57:17.510
has been stewing in the same or worse crap as
01:57:17.510 --> 01:57:19.489
the rest of us, and all of us Westerners stink
01:57:19.489 --> 01:57:21.989
after stewing in this barbaric, neo-feudal
01:57:21.989 --> 01:57:26.270
crap stew. Well, Robby, I think, bathes frequently
01:57:26.270 --> 01:57:29.210
enough to get the neo-feudal crap stew off
01:57:29.210 --> 01:57:32.329
of him. But I can certainly vouch for
01:57:32.329 --> 01:57:35.909
Robby not being heartless. He is not heartless
01:57:35.909 --> 01:57:38.810
at all. That's certainly true. Ted, what does
01:57:38.810 --> 01:57:43.449
c'est moi mean? C-E-S-T-M-O-I. It means,
01:57:43.550 --> 01:57:48.010
it's me. C'est moi. C'est moi. Okay. What are
01:57:48.010 --> 01:57:51.479
you looking at? When I was in France, my girl,
01:57:51.520 --> 01:57:53.819
she was my girlfriend at the time. She became
01:57:53.819 --> 01:57:58.140
my wife later. Divorcee after that. Later still.
01:57:59.000 --> 01:58:01.539
She had learned so much French by the time we
01:58:01.539 --> 01:58:03.319
had gotten to the country that she was on point.
01:58:04.149 --> 01:58:06.470
She knew her shit left and right. She was great.
01:58:07.699 --> 01:58:11.180
It's, so the most famous c'est moi is Louis
01:58:11.180 --> 01:58:14.260
XIV said, l'état, c'est moi. The state, it's
01:58:14.260 --> 01:58:19.159
me. No, I am the state. I am the state. And under
01:58:19.159 --> 01:58:21.560
Louis XIV, well, that was wishful thinking,
01:58:21.699 --> 01:58:25.000
because he did have an aristocratic council to
01:58:25.000 --> 01:58:27.920
have to deal with, even though he was as close
01:58:27.920 --> 01:58:32.180
to an absolute ruler that France ever saw during
01:58:32.180 --> 01:58:35.340
the Ancien Régime. That was when they chopped
01:58:35.340 --> 01:58:38.479
off his head, right? No, that's Louis XVI. Louis
01:58:38.479 --> 01:58:43.439
XIV was the Sun King. He built Versailles and
01:58:43.439 --> 01:58:47.239
all that. GDP in order to build his palace
01:58:47.239 --> 01:58:50.439
and garland gardens. Yeah, the palace. I don't
01:58:50.439 --> 01:58:52.859
know if people have—anybody that has opportunity
01:58:52.859 --> 01:58:56.260
to go to France, go see those palaces. It is breathtaking,
01:58:56.260 --> 01:58:59.220
and you think to yourself, you spent all of France's
01:58:59.220 --> 01:59:02.060
money to build this shit for yourself. Oh, that's
01:59:02.060 --> 01:59:03.840
stunning. And don't forget it's all empty now,
01:59:03.840 --> 01:59:05.560
right? Because they were looted during the revolution,
01:59:05.560 --> 01:59:08.100
so all the furniture was taken. But can you imagine
01:59:08.100 --> 01:59:09.840
what it all looked like when it was completely
01:59:09.840 --> 01:59:13.340
fully appointed? Yeah, theater, statues. The
01:59:13.340 --> 01:59:17.939
gardens by itself is breathtaking. Yeah, true, true.
01:59:17.939 --> 01:59:22.220
Yeah. And he spent all the money. Is asking where
01:59:22.220 --> 01:59:25.180
I am. I'm right here. I'm just scrolling. I'm just
01:59:25.180 --> 01:59:29.979
watching the comments, smiling, enjoying it. I'm
01:59:29.979 --> 01:59:31.319
not weighing in a lot of this stuff because I'm
01:59:31.319 --> 01:59:34.479
saving it for Friday. I believe I want to, but
01:59:35.020 --> 01:59:37.500
Robby's preparing for his diff. Robby's preparing
01:59:37.500 --> 01:59:42.819
for his theological defeat. You never know, right?
01:59:42.819 --> 01:59:48.590
Whoops. You never know, because one thing
01:59:48.590 --> 01:59:53.409
I will tell y'all is that Ted is an incredibly
01:59:53.409 --> 01:59:57.149
smart guy, very well read, very well educated, and
01:59:57.149 --> 02:00:00.350
more than that, the dude has a heart bigger than
02:00:00.350 --> 02:00:04.170
the state of Montana. Yes, he does. And he
02:00:04.170 --> 02:00:07.149
is one—he is one of my dearest, dearest friends,
02:00:07.149 --> 02:00:09.909
and we disagree on a lot of things. And really
02:00:09.909 --> 02:00:14.539
what it all comes down to is jurisdiction, authority,
02:00:14.539 --> 02:00:20.659
and what does justice mean? To JT's point,
02:00:20.659 --> 02:00:23.340
just as humanly speaking, there's no such thing.
02:00:23.340 --> 02:00:25.960
It's just international law. It's a theory.
02:00:25.960 --> 02:00:29.199
It exists till it doesn't. Yeah. From a biblical
02:00:29.199 --> 02:00:31.159
standpoint, if you believe there's a higher power,
02:00:31.159 --> 02:00:34.979
then justice and authority is derived from
02:00:34.979 --> 02:00:37.220
that power. He delegates. It's a matter of delegations.
02:00:37.220 --> 02:00:39.539
That's why when it comes to execution
02:00:39.539 --> 02:00:42.140
by the state, it's not. And that's very problematic
02:00:42.140 --> 02:00:46.609
because who says, well, I was hanging with God the other day and
02:00:48.890 --> 02:00:51.630
he said that this speeding ticket should get
02:00:51.630 --> 02:00:55.449
a $325 sentence. Come on. Well, that's
02:00:55.449 --> 02:00:57.449
why you have to stay yourself approved, because
02:00:57.449 --> 02:00:59.770
God has worked that way. He's not a respecter
02:00:59.770 --> 02:01:02.909
of persons. And if God is ever audibly speaking
02:01:02.909 --> 02:01:07.430
to you, then you have a couple of problems. Then
02:01:07.430 --> 02:01:10.109
you're Nidal Hasan. Yeah, you're Nidal Hasan.
02:01:10.229 --> 02:01:13.229
Well, the Bible also says that Satan appears
02:01:13.229 --> 02:01:15.779
as an angel of light. And he will speak to you.
02:01:15.819 --> 02:01:18.979
And a couple of people who are very famous prophets
02:01:18.979 --> 02:01:21.319
both have the same exact thing. Both of them
02:01:21.319 --> 02:01:23.239
founded other religions have been somewhat problematic.
02:01:24.100 --> 02:01:29.039
So just because you hear a voice does not mean
02:01:29.039 --> 02:01:31.609
it's the voice of God. And you've got to see
02:01:31.609 --> 02:01:34.170
yourself approved. That the Bible was written
02:01:34.170 --> 02:01:38.609
by a fake God. That the God that we worship, or
02:01:38.609 --> 02:01:40.829
the God that people worship, is not the real God.
02:01:40.869 --> 02:01:42.930
It's an imperfect God making imperfect creations
02:01:43.680 --> 02:01:46.560
that it thought itself was God, but fucked up
02:01:46.560 --> 02:01:50.800
and got it wrong. And that's the choice that
02:01:50.800 --> 02:01:53.340
each and every single person has to make on their
02:01:53.340 --> 02:01:57.140
own. That does bring up an interesting
02:01:57.140 --> 02:02:00.560
point theologically, right? So the Bible, right,
02:02:00.640 --> 02:02:03.899
which you believe in absolutely, Robby, is,
02:02:03.899 --> 02:02:09.380
according to doctrine and dogma, written by
02:02:09.380 --> 02:02:11.840
people, right? We can agree on that. But
02:02:11.840 --> 02:02:14.479
it's divinely inspired, but it's not written
02:02:14.479 --> 02:02:17.520
by God physically. The Ten Commandments
02:02:17.520 --> 02:02:20.859
are theoretically written by God. Moses wasn't taking notes. The tablets
02:02:24.699 --> 02:02:27.960
were handed to him. God wrote it, right? So that's
02:02:27.960 --> 02:02:29.979
not divinely inspired. That's divinely written.
02:02:29.979 --> 02:02:34.500
Divinely inspired, though, is there's
02:02:34.500 --> 02:02:37.439
issues of interpretation, right? If
02:02:37.439 --> 02:02:41.449
I get an idea for a cartoon and then what
02:02:41.449 --> 02:02:43.649
ends up on the page is not going to be a perfect
02:02:43.649 --> 02:02:46.510
representation of the idea that was in my brain.
02:02:46.609 --> 02:02:50.609
Similarly, if God were to inspire me to draw
02:02:50.609 --> 02:02:53.770
a cartoon, let's say, it's still not.
02:02:53.789 --> 02:02:56.609
It goes through the very imperfect filter of
02:02:56.609 --> 02:03:00.329
Ted Rall's brain, right? And so it's kind of.
02:03:00.329 --> 02:03:02.470
So I guess you see where I'm going, Robby.
02:03:02.590 --> 02:03:05.729
Can we say that the Bible is an imperfect
02:03:05.729 --> 02:03:08.409
representation because it's written by human
02:03:08.409 --> 02:03:11.210
beings? By the way, I'll give you a perfect example
02:03:11.210 --> 02:03:14.489
of that. You do a remote viewing session. The
02:03:14.489 --> 02:03:19.569
session is on Chernobyl. And you wrote down a
02:03:19.569 --> 02:03:23.270
war. Meaning, the interpretation was the war.
02:03:23.630 --> 02:03:26.010
The reality was Chernobyl. They're different
02:03:26.010 --> 02:03:29.689
things, even though it's close. I guess,
02:03:29.710 --> 02:03:32.930
is it that? Signal to noise is one of the issues.
02:03:33.470 --> 02:03:35.430
Well, that's one of the reasons why when it comes
02:03:35.430 --> 02:03:37.989
to Scripture, Scripture never stands alone. And
02:03:37.989 --> 02:03:40.050
you should always compare Scripture with Scripture.
02:03:40.250 --> 02:03:42.029
It's kind of what we did last Sunday, or
02:03:42.029 --> 02:03:44.720
not last Sunday, last Friday. I went through
02:03:44.720 --> 02:03:48.000
a lot of Scripture from multiple books of the
02:03:48.000 --> 02:03:51.159
Bible, Old and New Testaments, to make my argument
02:03:51.159 --> 02:03:55.279
about the modern state of Israel being—oh, Ted
02:03:55.279 --> 02:03:59.119
just vanished. He's got that magic mouse. Yeah,
02:03:59.199 --> 02:04:02.569
he always pops back. But whenever it comes to
02:04:02.569 --> 02:04:04.569
Scripture, though, that is the case,
02:04:04.569 --> 02:04:07.170
is that it can never stand alone. And the reason
02:04:07.170 --> 02:04:10.350
for that is, is because to y'all's point, it
02:04:10.350 --> 02:04:17.229
is very, very easy to go in and grab a hold of
02:04:17.229 --> 02:04:19.949
something because of your personal bias and say,
02:04:19.989 --> 02:04:24.090
this is how it's got to be. This is clearly writ.
02:04:25.520 --> 02:04:29.300
Even if the vast majority of the principles in
02:04:29.300 --> 02:04:32.479
the Bible say, no, this is wrong. For
02:04:32.479 --> 02:04:35.659
example, whenever it comes to the death penalty,
02:04:35.899 --> 02:04:39.039
a lot of people say that the death penalty originates
02:04:39.039 --> 02:04:40.880
from the law of Moses. It actually predates the
02:04:40.880 --> 02:04:45.279
law of Moses. And so that's where it comes from.
02:04:45.619 --> 02:04:49.220
And the Bible is Jesus. It is both
02:04:49.220 --> 02:04:53.100
God and man. Man is the instrument. Man is the
02:04:53.100 --> 02:04:57.479
hand that held the quill. The Holy Spirit is
02:04:57.479 --> 02:05:04.069
what inspires it. I don't know what you would
02:05:04.069 --> 02:05:06.970
call it, but that's what it is. It is
02:05:06.970 --> 02:05:09.609
inspiration by God himself. When you pointed
02:05:09.609 --> 02:05:11.109
out that if God is talking to you, something
02:05:11.109 --> 02:05:15.119
is wrong. Well, because what it is, is, for example,
02:05:15.300 --> 02:05:19.739
if I—because earlier you did say that if God
02:05:19.739 --> 02:05:21.060
is talking to you, something is wrong. There
02:05:21.060 --> 02:05:22.619
are all sorts of things that appear in the eyes
02:05:22.619 --> 02:05:27.890
of God that is not God. Here we have a book that's
02:05:27.890 --> 02:05:31.859
supposedly written by God, or at the very least
02:05:31.859 --> 02:05:35.819
inspired by God. It's because nowadays we don't
02:05:35.819 --> 02:05:37.439
have prophets the way that we did in the Old
02:05:37.439 --> 02:05:39.279
Testament. John the Baptist was the last prophet.
02:05:41.100 --> 02:05:43.800
So time has changed. You're saying times have
02:05:43.800 --> 02:05:47.039
changed. That's the only difference. Well, times
02:05:47.039 --> 02:05:49.300
have changed. Times have changed. Also, the covenant
02:05:49.300 --> 02:05:51.140
has changed, because really what the whole point
02:05:51.140 --> 02:05:53.199
of the whole. Why do we have no prophets anymore?
02:05:53.279 --> 02:05:54.939
Because Jesus was born and we don't need him
02:05:54.939 --> 02:05:57.159
anymore. Jesus is the final prophet. Now we have
02:05:57.159 --> 02:05:59.840
the revealed word. Jesus is the word. He is the
02:05:59.840 --> 02:06:03.220
word of God. That actually makes sense.
02:06:03.619 --> 02:06:06.140
And so that's why. And so that's one
02:06:06.140 --> 02:06:07.779
of the biggest problems when it comes to Joseph
02:06:07.779 --> 02:06:10.779
Smith of Mormonism. He says that God appeared
02:06:10.779 --> 02:06:13.060
to him as an angel of light. Muhammad said the
02:06:13.060 --> 02:06:15.619
exact same thing. God appeared to him as an angel
02:06:15.619 --> 02:06:19.420
of light. Or David Koresh. And David Koresh is
02:06:19.420 --> 02:06:22.460
another one. Jesus said, many false messiahs
02:06:22.460 --> 02:06:26.850
will come in my name. This is how it is that
02:06:26.850 --> 02:06:29.109
you're going to do them, and you're going to
02:06:29.109 --> 02:06:33.319
know them by their fruits. If you are all about
02:06:33.319 --> 02:06:37.199
rounding up harems and preganting underage girls,
02:06:37.199 --> 02:06:39.779
or creating armies and sacking cities and engaging
02:06:39.779 --> 02:06:42.520
in the slave trade, maybe you're probably not
02:06:42.520 --> 02:06:49.039
the prophet of the God of peace. Okay. All right.
02:06:49.060 --> 02:06:51.619
This obviously bears further discussion, and
02:06:51.619 --> 02:06:54.729
that might come up on Friday. All right. And
02:06:54.729 --> 02:06:56.510
to Blake's point, Jesus didn't write a single
02:06:56.510 --> 02:06:58.229
word of the Bible. Correct. The only time that
02:06:58.229 --> 02:07:00.569
Jesus ever wrote was when he wrote in the sand.
02:07:01.149 --> 02:07:04.569
Whenever he asked the Pharisees, whoever has
02:07:04.569 --> 02:07:06.289
no sin, you cast the first stone. He started
02:07:06.289 --> 02:07:07.989
writing. I have no idea what he wrote. That's
02:07:07.989 --> 02:07:09.729
the only reason we know that Jesus is literate.
02:07:09.890 --> 02:07:12.289
It's because he wrote something now. We don't
02:07:12.289 --> 02:07:14.810
know what he wrote. It wasn't important. In Aramaic,
02:07:14.810 --> 02:07:19.319
no doubt. Aramaic or Greek, we don't know. All
02:07:19.319 --> 02:07:22.859
right. Thanks, everyone. Appreciate you. We'll
02:07:22.859 --> 02:07:25.960
be back tomorrow with the one-hour show, 9
02:07:25.960 --> 02:07:28.619

02:07:28.619 --> 02:07:30.859

02:07:30.859 --> 02:07:35.000
West. We will be TMI show coming up tomorrow

good one, guys. Be safe.
