ABOUT THIS EPISODE
The US Department of Defense is preparing for the possibility that a major war could disrupt electricity, water supplies, communications and global supply chains. Under a reported requirement within its FORTRESS initiative, major military installations across the continental United States are expected to sustain essential operations independently for at least 90 days.
The details were reported by Fox News Digital on October 25, 2026, based on documents it reviewed. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said reliance on civilian infrastructure poses a significant risk to national defence.
The initiative is intended to help military bases continue functioning if civilian systems fail or supplies become difficult to obtain. It does not, by itself, mean that a large-scale war is imminent.
