ABOUT THIS EPISODE
The Tampa Bay Lightning return to action this afternoon looking for their second straight victory as they host the Vancouver Canucks at Benchmark International Arena. On today's Daily Strike, Steve Versnick previews the matchup as the Bolts continue a stretch of seven consecutive games against Western Conference opponents.
Tampa Bay enters the game coming off a thrilling 4-3 overtime win over the Seattle Kraken, powered by another outstanding performance from Brandon Hagel. Hagel scored twice on Thursday and now has six goals on the season, all at even strength, tying him among the NHL leaders in even-strength goals. Hear from Jake Guentzel and Ryan McDonagh on what makes Hagel one of the Lightning's most impactful players and emotional leaders.
We also discuss the strong season debut of Dominic James, who recorded his first assist of the year against Seattle while logging more than 15 minutes of ice time. Assistant Coach Dan Hinote shares his thoughts on the young forward's performance and development.
Meanwhile, several Lightning players are approaching major milestones. Nikita Kucherov needs just two points to catch Marian Hossa on the NHL's all-time scoring list among right wings and sits only six points away from becoming the franchise's all-time leading scorer. Anthony Cirelli is set to pass Tyler Johnson for 10th place in franchise history with his 590th career game and is one assist away from 200 in his NHL career.
