00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.200
Hi, and welcome back to Curious for Christ, and if you're new here, welcome.
00:00:04.320 --> 00:00:06.389
I'm so glad you're listening.
00:00:06.900 --> 00:00:09.509
Today's episode is called Trusting God.
00:00:09.509 --> 00:00:15.000
When Nothing is Working Out, I want to be really honest with you.
00:00:15.689 --> 00:00:28.019
Since February I've been working hard, showing up, trying, doing all the things, and now it's October a new month and I still don't have a new sale.
00:00:28.379 --> 00:00:31.559
Just past sales closing up but nothing new.
00:00:31.559 --> 00:00:37.200
And that feels heavy, especially with teenagers that I have and real responsibilities.
00:00:37.200 --> 00:00:38.759
And I wanna be there for my husband.
00:00:38.759 --> 00:00:41.229
My family, though I feel like I'm letting them down.
00:00:41.229 --> 00:00:44.619
And when things don't work out, I notice the thoughts that come in.
00:00:44.920 --> 00:00:46.420
They're not quiet thoughts.
00:00:47.064 --> 00:00:53.365
They're very loud and they tell me I'm failing, that maybe God isn't close, that I'm stuck.
00:00:53.386 --> 00:00:59.055
Then I go back to my past and honestly, sometimes I even wonder, can I feel hopeless as a Christian?
00:00:59.055 --> 00:01:00.076
Is that even allowed?
00:01:00.076 --> 00:01:04.426
In this episode, I'm sharing a few things that are helping me right now.
00:01:04.846 --> 00:01:13.995
Three scriptures that are grounding me, what I've been learning about, how our thoughts work in the brain, and how God has been showing me.
00:01:13.995 --> 00:01:16.006
He's not afraid of what I'm feeling.
00:01:16.006 --> 00:01:22.906
If you've ever felt far from God or hopeless in the middle of your struggle, I think this will speak to you.
00:01:22.906 --> 00:01:23.385
Let's go.
00:01:28.456 --> 00:01:30.495
Welcome to Curious for Christ.
00:01:31.275 --> 00:01:36.046
Do you ever find yourself lying, awake at night wondering about God's plan for your life?
00:01:36.525 --> 00:01:42.046
Maybe you wake up with big dreams, but feel unsure where to start or what your next step should be.
00:01:42.585 --> 00:01:48.406
If you're curious about exploring your faith and finding purpose, then you've come to the right place.
00:01:48.736 --> 00:01:50.206
Hi, I'm Alexandra.
00:01:50.536 --> 00:01:54.316
I too felt lost and sure of the direction my life was taking.
00:01:54.766 --> 00:02:01.006
I yearned to understand my purpose and have someone guide me, but I kept telling myself I was too busy.
00:02:01.156 --> 00:02:09.526
The timing wasn't right, and my lack of clarity prevented me from being consistent until I found Christ.
00:02:09.825 --> 00:02:15.645
He brought peace into my life and revealed the way to find purpose by anchoring myself.
00:02:16.080 --> 00:02:16.531
In him.
00:02:17.221 --> 00:02:26.730
In this podcast, we'll journey together exploring the Bible to gain a deeper understanding of him and cultivate your own personal relationship with Christ.
00:02:27.061 --> 00:02:33.091
So open up your Bible, put in those earbuds and listen up because God is speaking to you.
00:02:33.360 --> 00:02:36.241
He's making everything new and you don't wanna miss it.
00:02:36.751 --> 00:02:37.651
Let's get started.
00:02:46.563 --> 00:02:50.253
So number one, thoughts are not truth.
00:02:50.644 --> 00:02:55.593
Science tells us our brain creates thoughts from past experiences.
00:02:56.463 --> 00:03:04.234
If you grew up with criticism, rejection, or struggle, your brain is wired to expect that again, or even if you're just human.
00:03:04.234 --> 00:03:05.253
Just being human.
00:03:05.463 --> 00:03:07.894
Your brain works to bring whatever has been.
00:03:07.984 --> 00:03:14.174
Again, because it's safe, because it can recognize it, and we are wired for survival, it's like a pathway.
00:03:14.174 --> 00:03:15.584
It goes down automatically.
00:03:15.584 --> 00:03:17.158
But that doesn't mean the thought is true.
00:03:17.788 --> 00:03:24.359
It's just familiar, but if you want a different outcome, our thoughts need to be updated as well.
00:03:24.538 --> 00:03:25.829
They need to be different.
00:03:26.008 --> 00:03:33.389
They need to come from a different place, and since we don't have anything else, God's thoughts really come in handy.
00:03:33.389 --> 00:03:34.739
And that's why we need him.
00:03:34.739 --> 00:03:42.449
And that's why Isaiah 55 verses eight through nine matters so much to me, because it says for my thoughts are not your thoughts.
00:03:42.449 --> 00:03:44.128
Neither are your ways.
00:03:44.158 --> 00:03:44.998
My ways.
00:03:44.998 --> 00:03:48.929
So are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
00:03:48.929 --> 00:03:53.008
When I cannot trust my thought, I know I can trust gods.
00:03:53.038 --> 00:03:59.338
So when my brain says This is hopeless, of course it is because there's never been a different outcome.
00:03:59.338 --> 00:04:03.748
So when there's a new outcome, then it's like, whoa, but I don't recognize this.
00:04:03.989 --> 00:04:04.649
Alarm.
00:04:04.649 --> 00:04:08.968
So here I can remind myself with the scripture that's not God's thought.
00:04:08.968 --> 00:04:17.699
His thoughts are higher, and even if I can't feel them right now, I can trust this and I can remind myself of that scripture.
00:04:17.699 --> 00:04:21.363
Number two, God isn't intimidated by honesty.
00:04:23.233 --> 00:04:29.863
Ah, that's a big one, because sometimes I think if I admit to hopelessness, maybe I'm failing at faith.
00:04:30.283 --> 00:04:35.713
But then I look at David in the Psalms, he says things like, my soul is in deep anguish.
00:04:35.923 --> 00:04:37.244
How long, Lord?
00:04:37.244 --> 00:04:38.863
Psalm six, verse three.
00:04:38.863 --> 00:04:40.663
He cried, he doubted.
00:04:40.663 --> 00:04:41.564
He wrestled.
00:04:41.564 --> 00:04:52.033
He felt it was going to be the end of his life, and God still called him a man after my own heart, and that shows me God isn't afraid of what I bring him.
00:04:52.053 --> 00:04:53.343
He can handle it.
00:04:53.363 --> 00:05:01.853
It's just going to deepen my connection with him because he is gonna show me a part of himself that I never let in because I never expressed the truth about myself.
00:05:01.983 --> 00:05:03.033
Does that make sense?
00:05:03.033 --> 00:05:04.894
And I saw that in my own life.
00:05:04.894 --> 00:05:05.223
Also.
00:05:05.223 --> 00:05:08.283
Recently I sent a raw video message to a friend.
00:05:08.584 --> 00:05:09.514
I had no makeup.
00:05:09.663 --> 00:05:13.533
It was morning, I was tired, and that's when my thoughts are not the best.
00:05:13.613 --> 00:05:17.093
That's where I had to, to really wrestle to find something different.
00:05:17.514 --> 00:05:20.723
So I just decided to send a message and.
00:05:20.884 --> 00:05:22.055
Let's see what happens.
00:05:22.625 --> 00:05:26.254
And I told her how I felt, but you know what?
00:05:26.254 --> 00:05:27.634
She didn't push me away.
00:05:27.665 --> 00:05:28.834
She accepted me.
00:05:28.834 --> 00:05:34.119
And that's a blessing because that acceptance felt like medicine.
00:05:34.144 --> 00:05:37.564
It reminded me we're not made to do life alone.
00:05:37.564 --> 00:05:40.115
We were created for love and connection.
00:05:40.115 --> 00:05:41.644
That's why rejection hurts.
00:05:41.644 --> 00:05:50.314
Because it's the opposite of what we were made for, but love heals because it's what we were made by and made for.
00:05:51.185 --> 00:05:58.685
And Psalm 34, verse 18 tells me the Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
00:05:59.495 --> 00:06:02.166
And that's not theory and that is why also.
00:06:02.166 --> 00:06:10.836
I created this, Facebook group community so we can share openly and we can reflect on some prompting questions and then be reminded of God's truth.
00:06:10.836 --> 00:06:23.677
So if you want to join my community, you just need to go to bi ly for slash Curious for Christ Community BIT LY slash Curious for Christ Community and join.
00:06:23.916 --> 00:06:24.872
I'll be happy to have you there.
00:06:25.567 --> 00:06:30.516
And then number three, sometimes loss is part of transformation.
00:06:30.846 --> 00:06:38.677
Jesus said in John 12, verse 24, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone.
00:06:38.826 --> 00:06:41.857
But if it dies, it produces much fruit.
00:06:41.857 --> 00:06:43.206
So I don't like that verse.
00:06:43.206 --> 00:06:47.416
But I need it because it explains why this season feels so hard for me.
00:06:47.927 --> 00:06:51.526
Something old has to die, so something new can grow.
00:06:51.947 --> 00:06:54.497
It's like a butterfly breaking out of the cocoon.
00:06:54.646 --> 00:06:59.507
It looks painful, but without that struggle, it can't fly.
00:07:00.346 --> 00:07:05.357
So maybe what feels like being lost is actually God preparing me for new life.
00:07:05.391 --> 00:07:08.052
I hope this helps, and this is it for today.
00:07:08.072 --> 00:07:11.012
So here is what I'm holding on to right now.
00:07:11.762 --> 00:07:15.901
My thoughts don't always tell me the truth, but God's thoughts are higher.
00:07:16.442 --> 00:07:18.422
My feelings don't scare God.
00:07:18.781 --> 00:07:20.641
He is close to the broken hearted.
00:07:21.151 --> 00:07:26.911
And then lastly, what feels like dying might be the very thing that leads to new fruit.
00:07:27.752 --> 00:07:29.372
I don't have it all figured out.
00:07:29.927 --> 00:07:32.687
But maybe you don't either, and that's okay.
00:07:32.716 --> 00:07:33.466
Here we are.
00:07:33.516 --> 00:07:36.576

Until next time, let's stay awake.
00:07:52.177 --> 00:07:55.807
Let's not fall back asleep with our own old thoughts.

00:08:02.916 --> 00:08:04.627
