ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Today we're joined by Dr Steven Thrasher author of The Overseer Class! The Overseer Class is a manifesto about how minorities are often put in positions of power not as a matter of equity but so they can better police other minorities and enforce the existing power structures. We discuss how the image of the overseer appears in film and real life, diversifying the police vs diversifying the fire department, Samuel L Jackson's character in Django Unchained, Blazing Saddles, and if Mel Brooks doing redface could maybe, possibly be an act of racial solidarity?
