Michelle Choairy: Hello everyone! Welcome back to Complex Kids Simple Solutions. I am so excited to start another season. I'm sorry we've been a little MIA, but there's been a lot going on, and sometimes you know, a mama just needs to take a little break. So that's what I did. We took a few break, a little break. I don't know if you follow me on social media, but I had a heart thing that happened and I had to go on medical leave. And so things have been happening and it's been a little crazy here in our house. So I this is the first time I do a show on my own, and I'm actually pretty excited about it because what I want to do is kind of explain to you where Complex Kids Simple Solutions came from and tell you a little bit where we're going and what I've been doing also. Okay, so A few years ago, I decided that I needed to find a purpose in my life because I was bored. I I've been doing my job for a long time. I love what I do. I love the the medical sales. But it has been almost 20 years that I've been there. And so and I've really haven't done or had like a acquired any hobbies in a while. I think I've been a mom for so long. And so this, you know, it's been like it was kind of trying to find what it is that I wanted to do. And so through the process of, you know, finding my calling in life, I thought, you know what, I think that having a podcast would be really cool because I think a lot of moms that have complex kids, and if you haven't heard that term, let me explain that to you. Complex kids is it just it just came to my mind because you know there's a label that comes with our kids, and those labels are not necessarily a great label. And so when I talk about my son, I just say he's a little complex. Is a little bit more complex than my daughter. And so that's kind of where that complex kids came from. And we really, really just, you know, I I wanted to find and develop a place where I could talk to providers, I could talk to the school district, I could call talk to people that are trying to help our complex kids. And so that's like this past year, I mean, we had so many episodes. I can't believe how many we did. I think we had 58 episodes. And it's just incredible that I actually talked to people, to 58 people about complex kids. And then the simple solutions really, it just came because I think that we need to look at it. as as a sorry my dog is in the background so the you know i wanted to kind of sorry it's just completely you know just got me off track okay so the complex kids simple solutions came with this and it it's it came from what i had been doing for so many years with my son and what I wanted to put out there for people to listen. And all of the providers that came on and all of the people that I talked to, I learned so much from them. And I hope that if you listen to the to the episodes, that you did that too. And you guys are so amazing that we are in the top 5% of podcasts in the world. I'm telling you in the world, I never ever, ever, ever thought that this would happen. Ever. So thank you to all the fans that listen. Anyway, going back to complex kids with simple solutions. Last year was a lot of providers, and I think that we're gonna have that too this year, but we're gonna change things around a little bit. I think that I want to spend a little bit more time talking with scientists and about rare diseases and I want to talk kind of make it a little boring but a bit more specific and one of the things that I really am excited about is that I want to bring moms into the podcast and I think that this is going to be so fun. And what we're gonna do is I'll bring some moms into the podcast. They're gonna tell me their story. And then we're going to talk about what it is that we should be doing with their IEPs or with their medical diagnosis or any of the those issues that they're having at that point. And so I'm very excited about that. so if you are a mom and you're listening to this, you can go to my website and click on podcast. And apply to be one of my my podcast guests. Okay. So I for this season I have a huge, huge lineup. And I am so excited about the lineup because it's gonna be a little bit more scientific and a little bit more Of teaching, and we will have the solutions too, of course. But I think that sometimes we need to look at the basis of the science and kind of see where it is that our complex kids are coming from, right? so I am excited to to do that. the The show is going to be continue to be complex kids simple solutions. But it's not gonna be that, you know, anything lecture type thing. And it's gonna continue. It's gonna be very conversational. It's gonna be me talking a lot of times just rambling on. And having my guests listen to me or me listening to the guests because sometimes they rattle on. But it is it's been so fun understanding and meeting people. So, like I said, we're gonna bring rare diseases a little bit. And the reason why I'm gonna do that is because Drake has a rare disease, he has TBR one, and I think that the rare diseases parents are not being heard and they don't have a lot of those simple solutions that I'd like to, you know, that I would like to give them. So if you have a rare, a child that has a rare or an ultra-rare diagnosis, I really, really want you to come on the show because I want people to understand what it is that we go through. And not just from my perspective, but yours. And I think that we're gonna talk a little bit more about the autism and you know the autism pers perspective and we're gonna look at this from a lens that I don't think that you guys have ever heard from. I'm excited because we're gonna have some really amazing people on here that we're gonna talk about treatment. We're gonna talk about what has been done with the science for this. So we're gonna go into that a little bit more in depth. So we're gonna have the science, we're gonna have some on IEPs, and we are going to include parents on this. So I am looking forward to an amazing year and a new season but i want you to know that under all of this my commitment is still Complex kids, simple solutions. And on every episode, you we are going to talk about what it can be and what you can do to make it a little bit more simple. And remember that simple doesn't mean easy, because nothing about raising a complex kid is easy. Simple just means clear. It means the next right step. And like what do we need to know? And even when the whole road is not Simple. We're going to try to make it as simple as possible. We are going to talk IEPs and we're going to talk about everything that we've been talking about. And I, you know. Here's and we talked about what to expect from here from here. We will keep the episodes at about 30 minutes because I think that that's important because I think that you guys don't have a lot of time. I don't have a lot of time, so we're going to keep it as sh as short as possible, also. But you're gonna get me, you're gonna get the same tone, the same commitment to bringing that simple the simple solutions, okay? So if you're listening to this for the first time and you are in the first few weeks of school, I want to say one thing to you directly. What you are noticing in your kids in the IUPs and at school, the sur it matters more than any other time. So the service that has not started, the teacher who doesn't seem to know the plan, the behavior at home that is getting bigger, the feeling in your chest. When you drop your child off. That's not overreacting, okay? That's really information. And if you have one concern that you cannot shake, I want to hear from you. So go on the on specialeducationconcierge.com under podcasts. Apply to be a guest and I am so excited to help you through IEPs. We're gonna talk about that. We're gonna help you through diagnosis, finding the right team for your child. We're gonna talk about all of this this season. So Thank you for listening. I am so excited to have you. Find me on Instagram, Facebook, it's Michelle Schoidi or Special Education Concierge. I cannot wait, I cannot wait for you guys to listen to our guests this year. I will see you next week on Complex Skid Simple Solutions. Bye bye.
