ABOUT THIS EPISODE
IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT, Robot Abe Lincoln, and the End of Humanity
Wepaaaa, Crusaders! Today on the Comic Crusaders Podcast, Al Mega welcomes comic book writer and podcaster Matthew Rosenberg for a conversation about one of the strangest, funniest, and most emotionally charged new Image Comics books on the horizon: IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT…
Created with Mark Elijah Rosenberg, Andy MacDonald, Francesco Segala, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, the series introduces readers to a world where humanity has vanished, but the robots that once served us continue their daily routines. The twist? One animatronic Abraham Lincoln believes there is more to existence than maintenance, repetition, and a society of machines pretending everything is fine.
In this episode, Matthew dives into the origins of the idea, the emotional heart behind Abe's journey, collaborating with his brother Mark, and why this bizarre post-human world is really about purpose, loneliness, friendship, and hope. Al and Matthew also discuss creator-owned storytelling, the power of Image Comics, and how a robot Lincoln can somehow make you laugh one minute and question your entire existence the next.
Comic fans, sci-fi lovers, and anyone who has ever wondered if their smart fridge is judging them should absolutely check this one out. IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT #1 is a big, bold, weird, heartfelt creator-owned launch that deserves a spot on your pull list.
