ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Bless my soul, Herc was on a roll...of murder.
The real story of Heracles couldn't be more different from the Disney classic, so come along on a journey of murder, redemption, revenge and all round unbelievable craziness. Whether you call him Heracles, Hercules, or Alcides, the story remains the same and never ceases to shock those who read it.
Can someone be redeemed for an unforgivable act? Can the worth of human life be reduced to labour? Is he even responsible for his actions? What exactly is Hera's problem?
All questions we explore and take on in this episode. It's a long one, but it's a heck of a journey through another story in Ancient Greek mythology.
Clueless on Classics is a podcast built around Greek and Roman mythology and ancient history. Taking the original ancient sources and rebuilding them into short, fun, accessible stories so that everyone can connect to the ancient world and its stories.
Hosted by a student of ancient history with an unhealthy obsession with mythology. Mythology should be for everyone, not stuffed away in fancy academic books for a select few. Pull up a chair, grab a drink, and talk shit about the ancient world with me!
