ABOUT THIS EPISODE
On Wednesday's Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was chatting about an exciting new addition to the cultural calendar in West Clare — Samhain Sessions, a brand-new grassroots traditional music festival taking place in Doonbeg over the October bank holiday weekend, from the 23rd to the 25th of October.
The festival celebrates the wealth of local musicians, singers, dancers, storytellers and teachers in the area, bringing people of all ages together for a weekend of music, culture, community and plenty of craic.
Organised entirely by volunteers, the festival grew out of conversations around kitchen tables and a shared desire to celebrate West Clare’s rich musical heritage at home.
Joining Alan to tell us more were Niamh Casey and her husband, Stephen Considine.
