Larry Lease, and today we're diving
in the latest news surrounding Liam Neeson
3
00:00:08.550 --> 00:00:18.230
in his possible retirement from action films. Welcome to the Cinema Gold podcast with
4
00:00:18.429 --> 00:00:23.940
your host Larry Lease. Come join
us as cinema gold dives into the latest
5
00:00:23.980 --> 00:00:31.460
Hollywood films in news. Liam Neeson
has become one of the biggest action stars
6
00:00:31.500 --> 00:00:35.850
in Hollywood. However, he recently
announced he's retiring from doing action films.
7
00:00:37.329 --> 00:00:41.250
The actor's careers were your revival after
the hit two thousand and eight action film
8
00:00:41.450 --> 00:00:46.530
taken. The taken franchise has led
Neeson to lamp parts and countless action Flix
9
00:00:48.570 --> 00:00:53.920
Neeson's latest string of action films include
non stop cold pursuit and, just recently,
10
00:00:54.079 --> 00:00:58.679
the marksman. The marksman has neeson
playing a former marine tred rancher who
11
00:00:58.679 --> 00:01:03.320
ends up defending an eleven year old
boy against drug cartel assassins. Sound familiar?
12
00:01:03.079 --> 00:01:07.510
Another taken film, but with drug
cartels on a rancher. Neeson is
13
00:01:07.590 --> 00:01:12.030
seeing a resurgence as well thanks to
Netflix. His twenty eleven movie unknown has
14
00:01:12.030 --> 00:01:17.870
become the most watch movie on Netflix
currently still his days as an action start
15
00:01:17.950 --> 00:01:22.420
may be coming to a close.
Neeson spoke to entertainment tonight sitting a just
16
00:01:22.540 --> 00:01:26.340
a reason, reason for retirement.
Quote. I'm sixty eight and a half,
17
00:01:26.780 --> 00:01:29.780
sixty nine this year. There's a
couple more going to do this year,
18
00:01:30.340 --> 00:01:33.530
hopefully covid allowing us. There's a
couple in the pipeline, and then
19
00:01:33.569 --> 00:01:38.969
I think I will probably be done. Neison previously said he's done with Superhero
20
00:01:38.090 --> 00:01:41.409
movies and, quote, does not
want to go to the gym for three
21
00:01:41.450 --> 00:01:44.769
hours every day to pump myself up
to squeeze into a velcrove suit with a
22
00:01:44.849 --> 00:01:49.599
Cape. This news comes as fans
look to have him reprises roles in films
23
00:01:49.599 --> 00:01:53.040
such as Star Wars, where you
played Quigon Gin. It's not unusual for
24
00:01:53.120 --> 00:01:57.040
actors to go in and out of
retirement. Perhaps this won't be the final
25
00:01:57.079 --> 00:02:01.909
chapter of Nisson's action film career.
No matter what he designs, he leaves
26
00:02:01.950 --> 00:02:07.950
behind an extraordinary legacy and filmography.
You can't forget his work in Shindler's list
27
00:02:07.469 --> 00:02:14.430
or his fan favorite role in Batman
begins and, of course, his role
28
00:02:14.509 --> 00:02:21.060
in taken. And, as Neson
recently announced his intention to retire from action
29
00:02:21.180 --> 00:02:24.580
films. It's now been revealed that
he's currently in talks to potentially headline a
30
00:02:24.659 --> 00:02:30.610
remake off the beloved crime spoof the
Naked Gun, with him taking on the
31
00:02:30.650 --> 00:02:36.930
role of detective Frank Dribbin, a
role previously played to perfection by Leslie Nielsen.
32
00:02:38.409 --> 00:02:43.090
While discussing his future as the face
of age action movies, Neson divostion
33
00:02:43.169 --> 00:02:46.439
a few minor details regarding the project. Quote. I've been approached by Second
34
00:02:46.599 --> 00:02:53.319
Seth McFarland and paramount studio stuff maybe
resurrect the naked gun films. So it
35
00:02:53.400 --> 00:02:58.949
could does sound like Liam Neeson could
walk away from action movies and move into
36
00:02:58.990 --> 00:03:04.509
the comedy direction. It could either
finish his career or bring it in another
37
00:03:04.629 --> 00:03:10.150
direction. Easton has worked alongside McFarland
on several occasions in the past on projects
38
00:03:10.189 --> 00:03:15.099
such as the western comedy a million
ways that die in the West and comedy
39
00:03:15.139 --> 00:03:20.780
sequel Ted to as well as on
McFarland small screen out INS like family guy
40
00:03:21.099 --> 00:03:25.939
and the Oreville, which I do
not remember him on the Orville. So
41
00:03:27.099 --> 00:03:30.289
the two reuniting for naked gun remake
is not far beyond the realm of possibility.
42
00:03:32.250 --> 00:03:36.969
The naked gun remake would also be
with that would also not be without
43
00:03:36.969 --> 00:03:40.370
president, but McFarland stating in the
past that and naked gun like remake starring
44
00:03:40.409 --> 00:03:46.960
Liam Neeson is something he'd love to
do. At Helms was also once considered
45
00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:51.960
for the lead back in two thousand
and fifteen. McFarland said, theame is
46
00:03:52.000 --> 00:03:54.400
great with comedy. I don't know
whether you've ever seen is ricky geras sketch.
47
00:03:54.789 --> 00:03:59.789
William is awesome. My dream at
some point be to do an entire
48
00:03:59.870 --> 00:04:02.110
movie with Liam where he does all
Leslie Nielsen Naked Gun kind of thing,
49
00:04:02.750 --> 00:04:06.430
because he's so good at playing against
the comedy and therefore he's only areas he
50
00:04:06.550 --> 00:04:12.939
just really knows what he's doing.
He'son is currently lighting up the screen in
51
00:04:13.020 --> 00:04:16.860
the marksman, which finds the actor
in familiar territory as an ex marine racher
52
00:04:16.939 --> 00:04:23.740
who's fourth once again rely on his
particular set of skills in order to thwart
53
00:04:23.779 --> 00:04:29.170
a gang of cartel assassins. Easton
has also signed on to star in the
54
00:04:29.449 --> 00:04:33.329
riller retribution for Stereo Canal. The
movie is a remake of a two thousand
55
00:04:33.329 --> 00:04:39.360
and fifteen Spanish flick about an unassuming
businessman who finds himself pushed to his limits
56
00:04:39.560 --> 00:04:43.720
after receiving a phone call telling him
that there's a bomb in his car and
57
00:04:43.839 --> 00:04:49.199
he needs to do exactly what the
bomber says or else it will explode with
58
00:04:49.360 --> 00:04:54.389
a pain. Did NASONESK tough guys
spent on proceedings? The actor could pull
59
00:04:54.430 --> 00:04:58.750
off the lead role on a remake
of that naked gun, but do we
60
00:04:58.870 --> 00:05:06.069
really need another remake of a classic
film? I don't think so. What's
