1×For 19 seasons, Stewart Cheifet was the face of Computer Chronicles, serving as the show's host and executive producer. But Cheifet's career carried him from the streets of Philadelphia to the hallowed halls of Harvard Law School and ultimately a string of jobs managing public television stations in American Samoa, Silicon Valley, and eventually back home in his native Pennsylvania. At each stop, Cheifet fought for the idea of locally run, non-commercial television while effectively holding down a second full-time job producing and hosting the PBS series that earned him recognition as the dean of American technology journalists.
