ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Why do two people raised in the same home see the world so differently?
In this deeply personal solo episode, Dr. Slava reflects on the relationship that shaped her life most—her relationship with her mother. Although they shared the same family, culture, and values, they developed completely different mindsets.
Growing up in a traditional Arab family, Slava witnessed a life driven by fear, survival, and the need for certainty. Her mother believed safety was everything, while Slava was drawn toward curiosity, independence, and possibility.
She explores how immigration, trauma, unfulfilled dreams, and cultural expectations influenced her mother's worldview—and how those same experiences inspired her to choose a different path.
This episode is not about blame.
It's about understanding how generational patterns are formed, why fear often disguises itself as love, and what it takes to break cycles while still honoring those who came before us.
Whether you've struggled with family expectations, cultural traditions, or finding your own voice, this conversation will leave you reflecting on the beliefs you've inherited—and the ones you choose to keep.
Listen now and discover how one decision to choose possibility over fear changed everything.
