speaker-0: You Hi. How you doing?
speaker-1: Alright.
speaker-0: What's that? Salute. Intermittent fasting you were gonna tell me about intermittent fasting cuz I got some stuff to say about that That's a whole thing. So I need to know where you at you. Wait, when did you start though? Like for real? Today
speaker-1: today, two hours ago. Food? We just stocked up on stuff.
speaker-0: So what's your, what's your hours? Like what, what?
speaker-1: From nine to eight thirty, I can eat.
speaker-0: Not wait. A Thursday at night?
speaker-1: 9 in the morning to
speaker-0: Okay. What's the problem? No, no, no. Your cutoff is at 8.30 and then you're get up at nine the next day to start your meal. You break your fast. So that's like, that's 12 and a half hours. You're starting with 12 and a half? Alright, have you done it before? Okay. Okay, so that's cool. You throw your side. That's what's up. You've never done it. Like, I mean, so question, what's the longest it's been, like, before you start getting hangry? How long?
speaker-1: You guys. What's the longest I've gone, like, with outgun?
speaker-0: Without, I mean, without food. What's the longest that you've been without food in your life?
speaker-1: in my life.
speaker-0: I'm
speaker-1: There's been times recently where I just don't feel like I'm hungry. I get legitimately hungry at like 11, 12. And I'm like, I'm not, I ain't trying to snack on nothing. I ain't trying to make nothing. I'm just going to go to bed, bro.
speaker-0: Like four thirty
speaker-1: would eat around probably six or seven and then I start getting hangry if I don't like, I probably would have had like a snack around like an hour two after I eat and then I would start getting hungry, like legitimately hungry again, like I could eat a meal around like 11, 12 or something. I'm like, at that point, I'm like, I'm not, the kitchen is closed, I'm going to bed. This one, I'm just going to bed.
speaker-0: So you go to bed on vapors. Done. And then get up the next morning. Done. Like deeper vapors. You deepen your vapors. I understand. Now you just get to the reality.
speaker-1: I know a little bit on vapors. on Vapers. I'll be hearing the grumbling in the back of my head, just like...
speaker-0: Right. ⁓
speaker-1: I gotta meditate that y'all away.
speaker-0: Hmm.
speaker-1: Water. This water tastes nice.
speaker-0: Look, I believe in you. That's what's up. All right, I believe.
speaker-1: I got my friend who's doing the same thing. We both on this journey together. ⁓ She's also on like a gym journey with me and I got her on board with this whole fasting thing. So we both gonna rock out. Some accountability. ⁓
speaker-0: Yeah, all right. I mean, it's a good time to do it. mean, the weather just broke. But what made you start doing that? Because you were eating too late or something? What?
speaker-1: wanted to like I want to start going to the gym and I want to get into the habit of working out.
speaker-0: What?
speaker-1: I wanted to get to the point where it feels weird not to work out. I was at that point, a couple of points during college where I was consistent and stuff. But it'd be nice to have a partner. So that's why I'm glad that me and Sam are going on about this. Because even when I don't feel like going out, I have the back of my mind that she can pull up to the house at 6 o'clock.
speaker-0: Ooh. Right.
speaker-1: So I gotta be, I gotta be prepared. I gotta be ready. And she got her.
speaker-0: So Huh? You say, what?"
speaker-1: She got it her mind too. It's just like, gotta be there at six o'clock. Cause she expected me. Like I'm expecting her. So we both got it our mind.
speaker-0: Alright, so there's a level, there's a pull up. Does she pullin' up? Like, okay, regardless. And she'll be like, I'll wait. That type of-
speaker-1: Or just the fact that both of us have this understanding that we gotta go out for the other person. It's like, I might not feel like it, but they gonna be here. Or they're expecting me, you know?
speaker-0: Right, the true definition of an accountability partner, most definitely. That's cool, that's cool. All right, and you got a couple things going on. So, know, just to give you a heads up, be mindful of the time and make sure you're preparing your food and give yourself time for your food to digest before you go lay down. We were talking about the whole ⁓ intermittent fasting. Just making sure. ⁓ You just got to prepare, man. You got to be mindful of your time and documenting how you feeling. Just pay close attention to all the signs where you at. So when you're not near your phone, you know what stage you're in. Because there's different stages. I forget what they are, but the app was amazing. The app was absolutely amazing. Personally, oh yeah, it's called fasting. I got up to 20 hours. 20 hours, I started at eight hours and I worked my way up to 20. It took time, it took patience, a lot of endurance. I could not believe it. And I was willing to go farther, but I think life was happening. Life was starting to happen and require energy. You got to be mindful. ⁓ that's another major thing. You got to be mindful of the energy you putting out because your food is your fuel, but you kind of get the fuel from the fat burning. But until your body makes that proper shift into that mode, then you're going to feel a little wonky.
speaker-1: Makes sense.
speaker-0: that part and you know I think it was a lot of heavy stuff that was going on. It required a lot of my energy more than what my body was able to produce. So I think that's where it just fell off. So that is a great thing and this is helping because it's getting warmer outside and you don't feel like eating. After a while you just don't feel like eating. You just want to drink and you want to make sure that what you're drinking is fortified. It just has to be nutrient rich foods and you're going to start to see the weight fall off. Like for me, I made sure that I was eating all different kinds of vegetables. Remember when I was sauteing the vegetables and putting it on toast and avocado and the fried egg, all that stuff. That was a part of that time because I'm a protein to hold me over to the next meal. And that next meal was a big meal, was a big meal, which was like around lunchtime. And then that's when I start to wane off and have lighter. like a lighter meal towards the end of the day, which is what you're supposed to do anyway. Your body is slowing down, so you shouldn't be putting anything heavy on it. should get food that correlates with um, with the slowing down your body, like fruits and salads, light protein. So that's what I was doing. That's when you saw a lot of the salads come in with a can of salmon or something like that. So it's just planning and bringing your meals with you. Well, I mean, you work from home now, but You know, snacks, all that stuff. So it's a preparation thing, but you definitely want to, ⁓ and I got another app for you, but fastick is that one for you. The one is the one that worked for me. So wait a minute. You said you're not worried about the weight. You just want to be strong.
speaker-1: Yeah. ⁓ be strong like weight is one thing i look good at 167 i looks good at 155 but like i just i just want to be strong you know i just want i want my thighs to look like they they got something cut to it yeah i just want a little tone
speaker-0: Yeah. Okay, alright. You want to have your arms be like, what you're doing?
speaker-1: I just want a little like, I know. Yeah, I want a little like, Angela Bassett, I want a soft Angela. I want a soft Angela Bassett.
speaker-0: Wow. full and Yeah, soft Angie. That's what I Yeah, right. All right. I mean, I ain't mad at that. All right.
speaker-1: I soft ends, all right? My gym bro, ⁓ she committed, she just got some weighted vest on, so they're like, you got a weighted what?
speaker-0: A weighted vest. And what's she doing with it? On a treadmill? Yeah. You call her your gym bro.
speaker-1: I'm conscious about name dropping or something.
speaker-0: Yeah, don't worry about it, but you caught her you caught her he's doing But ⁓ yeah, and that's something for me the gym I just don't feel like the gym anymore, but that that yoga is is kicking my butt anyway, so I own ass up off the floor and and it's heavy right now, so I'm good You know, I wake up hurting a little bit cuz I'm stretches or in the middle of the night. I'm like I'm good. My weight is doing just enough, but I got to get back into that. And I think I'm get back into the intermittent too. I think I'm going do that because I felt great when I did it. And I got to bring up something, something else too that comes with it. So yeah, there's a spiritual aspect to it. It truly is. You start to get all in tune. You start lining all up. You just start to get more sensitive to your inner self. your senses get sharper. I noticed that. And I noticed your decision making changes because you know, now you'll know what food will make you feel heavy and dense and just feel yucky. And you know what food brings you life. ⁓ and that was another thing. Remember when I was making juice? Yeah. Yeah. I was making live foods and I was drinking live foods. Sometimes I didn't feel like eating. I just wanted to drink. but I knew what I had. It had protein, all of those things, what I needed. So all those things, like you start to hear what your body wants. Yeah. You know, like the other day for no reason, I went to the market and I bought some, well, not for no reason. I bought a bag full of Brussels sprouts. I roasted them. Ooh, I that. Huh?
speaker-1: No, I was just saying I like roasted Brussels fries.
speaker-0: I roasted ⁓ a sheet full of Brussels sprouts and I had like three quarters of it for dinner. I just ate it and put a little bit of balsamic drizzle on it. I was good. That was my dinner. And then the next day I ate the remaining amount with some ⁓ cheese eggs. So you become a little bit more mindful, you know, and a little tiny piece of toast. I'm good. I'm good. And I'm still feel light enough. where I can still think because sometimes even heavy foods, your brain feels heavy. Yeah. You feel like, don't feel, you just don't feel like doing anything. So that lets you know, all right, that was a little bit too much. I'm going do better next one. So that's going to be fun. Okay. Yeah.
speaker-1: anyone's excited.
speaker-0: Okay. Any home workouts?
speaker-1: Not at the moment. I do have my pol- It was like the bar. What was it? It was like a Pilates bar I got. I should get back into that. Because that was helpful when I was consistent with that. Like in between times where like I'm going to the gym, I should get back into that. Because that was nice.
speaker-0: Pilates Bar?
speaker-1: Yeah, so like basically, I got this bar where it had like bands and like candles to it so I could put the band under my each of one of my feet and then do like put like uh this type of movement with it. It was nice, I did enjoy that. Yeah, it's like a resistance bar type of thing.
speaker-0: Resistance Okay, yeah, that's intense. right. Okay. Yeah, you want to write track you you it's fine. You just gotta be patient ⁓
speaker-1: I know, I just gotta be patient and say, it'll come, it'll come. When I was consistent, I could see the difference. I remember that, I saw him one time and he was just like, ooh, look at the shoulders. I didn't feel good, I was just like, yeah, that's my shoulders.
speaker-0: It was. Right. And that was from the bar or from?
speaker-1: That was from the last time I was in college. I was going to the gym at that point and I was doing a lot of just like I wanted to get my arms up. I got that potential. I was like, you know, I'm 25. I want to look little you know.
speaker-0: Yeah. Cut. Yeah, right. Who you telling? When I was 25, I was rocking the two pieces for little bit.
speaker-1: You know me, I rocked the two feet suit out with the fluffing off.
speaker-0: I know. I wanna see a little. Yeah, well, right, exactly. Well, know, prayfully, this summer, I can still keep the two-piece thing, but you know, that parry, that parry is real.
speaker-1: cut.
speaker-0: ⁓ I ⁓ get what you saying and I appreciate that but Yeah, Perry she no joke you you gotta I gotta figure some things out with that Some horn or some it's a hormonal change and it's beyond me So I'm doing some research on those online Products to see what the hell is going on. See if I can calm this down
speaker-1: This might No
speaker-0: you
speaker-1: It's just like, whoa.
speaker-0: This is right there like right at the bikini bottom right there Thank you, thank you and then when you like you had a nice baby suit on right this is you book bend over the rolls Whoa ⁓ That won't be me I ain't going out like that Give me a minute, I'ma still rock the cummerbund, the cummerbund bottoms.
speaker-1: The Cumberbund models. I gotta look up what that John looked like. about them them them bands or something?
speaker-0: That is attached to a bottom. Yeah, until I can get this whole hormonal thing peri under control. But you know what? Maybe the intermittent fasting will help. I'm just saying. But that's it. I mean, that's it. So we good to go. We're going to be all right. You're quite inspirational. I appreciate you. Thank you.
speaker-1: Thank thank you. I don't think I was training myself even before I made the decision I was going to do intermittent fasting. I'm hungry right now. I've been hungry since like two o'clock right now. I'm gonna have my leftover falafel.
speaker-0: So what you want to Sorry.
speaker-1: for life.
speaker-0: Why are you asking if it's alright? do mean?
speaker-1: That's like good to eat. Some falafel. I had some falafel and some rice with a little bit of salad on the side.
speaker-0: But you also gotta be mindful, ⁓ that's something else, you gotta be mindful of the starches, the carbs. I love food.
speaker-1: That's the one thing I was like, I like food, man.
speaker-0: You're telling but in moderation makes a difference I Think you saw in the last few years when you were home last several years I Wasn't making rice. I wasn't making pasta It was a whole shutdown, but I was making a whole lot of vegetables and a lot of proteins You know, you still got some bread here and there you did you might got might have had some potatoes or something like that, but for me I'm gonna tab it allows things differently So and and I got a sneaky feeling that you know, you kind of cut is a copy and paste to you Yeah, it's a possibility but you gotta just pay attention to it and I think you already know you know rice and pasta
speaker-1: Yeah. I mean, good. ⁓ mushroom Alfredo, too.
speaker-0: Why would you say that?
speaker-1: Cause I have the ingredients in my fridge before I started this journey. So like, what am I going to do? Just let it go.
speaker-0: But you don't want it to go to waste. Am I gonna waste or not? You get your ass every time. be like, because yeah, food is expensive. You don't want it to go to waste. You right.
speaker-1: Let it go to A? I'ma finish that out. Cause like, ⁓ I just bought them mushrooms. I ain't trying to see them go to waste.
speaker-0: What kind of wording are they?
speaker-1: They ⁓ you know, just regular white button mushrooms.
speaker-0: Okay, alright, so I'll just off your hands if you want something, I don't know. No, nevermind, okay, just checking. Go
speaker-1: I'm gonna finish that out.
speaker-0: Yay!
speaker-1: Cut down on the starches and the carbs.
speaker-0: Yeah, I'm so excited. Yeah, it's cool. And you know what? Like, I'm gonna go for a walk. It's all nice out now. I'm gonna go for a walk. I'm gonna do when I come back, I'm gonna do some stretches and yeah, I'm gonna think about that. So all right, I'm gonna go download the app and I'm gonna get started. I think I can do it. I can do it as long as I take my supplements and make sure I eat the right things. I can do this. Yeah, you do. I ain't bother you with it.
speaker-1: I'm
speaker-0: Unless you want me to bother you with it. And then. You're like. Yeah, but I'm gonna be cool though. I'm gonna play it cool. I got another app though, but I'll tell you about that later. Alright, so yeah, I think this is good. Good stuff. Alright. Holla, Holla. Bye. Bye. Thank you for walking with me on this part of our journey.
