ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Case Files #148: Jeffrey Epstein | Autopsyfiles.org — On the morning of August 10, 2019, Jeffrey Epstein, 66, was found hanging in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, where he was being held on federal sex-trafficking charges involving minors. He was pronounced dead at 7:36 a.m. The New York City medical examiner ruled the death a suicide by hanging. A forensic pathologist retained by Epstein's brother, who had observed the autopsy, said the fractures found were more consistent with homicidal strangulation; the medical examiner's office stood by its ruling, and the Justice Department's Inspector General later found no evidence contradicting the FBI's determination that no crime was involved in the death — while documenting negligence, falsified records, and a cellmate order the jail failed to follow on the night he died.
