ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Case #132: Eve Carson. Eve Marie Carson, 22, of Athens, Georgia, was a Morehead-Cain Scholar, a Phi Beta Kappa senior, and the student body president of UNC-Chapel Hill. Before dawn on March 5, 2008, she was taken from her home on Friendly Lane and killed. Bank surveillance photographs identified Demario Atwater and Laurence Lovette Jr. within a week. Atwater pleaded guilty in 2010; Lovette was convicted at trial in 2011, and resentenced to life without parole in 2013 after the Supreme Court's juvenile-sentencing ruling — a sentence affirmed in 2014. Her name lives on at Chapel Hill in a student-run scholarship, a memorial garden, and an annual 5K. Her autopsy report is in the files: https://www.autopsyfiles.org/reports/Other/carson,%20eve_report.pdf — The truth is in the files. At Autopsyfiles.org.
