00:00:00.700 --> 00:00:03.049
Welcome to Financial Joy School.
00:00:03.049 --> 00:00:05.206
You deserve joy and wealth.
00:00:05.206 --> 00:00:06.907
I deserve joy and wealth.
00:00:06.907 --> 00:00:10.529
We all deserve joy and wealth, baby.
00:00:10.529 --> 00:00:12.025
Yes, yes and yes.
00:00:12.025 --> 00:00:22.428
That is how we start off each day knowing that we deserve joy and wealth Not just one, but both.
00:00:22.428 --> 00:00:34.100
So it's been a long time since I have done a podcast and I'm like it is time for me to do a podcast Now.
00:00:34.100 --> 00:00:41.320
If you are new to Financial Joy School, let me allow me to reintroduce myself.
00:00:41.320 --> 00:00:47.890
My name is okay well, that was whack but my name is Ruby Sunshine Taylor.
00:00:48.581 --> 00:00:56.241
I am the CEO and founder of Financial Joy School and we are on a mission to make our world financially equitable.
00:00:56.241 --> 00:00:58.185
Yes, yes and yes.
00:00:58.185 --> 00:01:00.527
So that is who I am.
00:01:00.527 --> 00:01:06.335
I am a traumatic brain injury survivor and I am a stutterer.
00:01:06.335 --> 00:01:17.522
So every so often you will hear me stutter, sometimes more than I would like, but I am who I am Sam.
00:01:17.522 --> 00:01:23.510
Sam I am and I like to enjoy life.
00:01:23.510 --> 00:01:32.989
I think life is beautiful and it's full of miracles and it's just the way God wants it to be.
00:01:32.989 --> 00:01:34.531
So I like to laugh.
00:01:34.531 --> 00:01:38.805
I like to crack jokes, even when things shouldn't be laughed at.
00:01:38.805 --> 00:01:49.841
I can find a reason why that is funny, reason why that is funny and I love that about me.
00:01:49.841 --> 00:01:51.364
So that's a little bit about me.
00:01:51.385 --> 00:01:52.206
Let's get into this topic today.
00:01:52.206 --> 00:01:59.335
Today, I wanted to talk about stress, more specifically, financial stress.
00:01:59.335 --> 00:02:18.461
And financial stress doesn't have to be, and financial stress can become chronic stress, which means that it's a constant and it can lead to death.
00:02:18.461 --> 00:02:22.210
Yes, financial stress can kill you.
00:02:22.210 --> 00:02:31.483
It can, and for it not to, we have to be able to deal with it.
00:02:31.483 --> 00:02:49.909
And this day I'm going to talk about family and friends and life and all of that wonderful stuff and how it can add to our life and it can add to our financial stress.
00:02:49.909 --> 00:03:13.454
Right, I will not name names in this recording, so I will be talking in general and I'm general For myself and for my lived experiences and what I've seen.
00:03:14.514 --> 00:03:53.764
Right, once you get to a certain point in your life financially and people feel that you are successful, especially within marginalized communities this is a pandemic baby within our communities they feel that you have an obligation to give to people, the people you love.
00:03:53.764 --> 00:03:54.929
It is an obligation and I used to do it all the time.
00:03:54.929 --> 00:03:56.913
All the time Give, give, give, give, give, give, give, give, give, give.
00:03:56.913 --> 00:04:01.104
And when I needed it, I didn't have it because I gave out so much.
00:04:01.104 --> 00:04:24.514
So when I had my TBI, I had no money to like rely on because I was just giving, giving, giving, and, and it's a hard habit to to stop, especially when the expectations never, ever decrease.
00:04:24.514 --> 00:04:31.444
They always increase, but they never decrease and they will never stay the same.
00:04:31.444 --> 00:04:34.730
People will always expect more from a giver.
00:04:34.730 --> 00:04:54.149
The more you give, the more they will expect it, and it's nothing wrong with that if you have it like that, with that, if you have it like that, and just because you may have some like extra money doesn't mean you have it like, like, like that.
00:04:54.149 --> 00:05:09.451
If you want to be that person, you're gonna have to stop giving the way, the way, the way that you are giving, until your money reach a point of that.
00:05:11.351 --> 00:05:27.432
I can be my own family philanthropist, right, I can give them grants, I can help them, but that is only when you are in constant overflow.
00:05:27.432 --> 00:05:34.045
You can't do that when you have a full cup, but the cup is full just for you.
00:05:34.045 --> 00:05:45.848
If you are giving your full cup away out when you need it, there will be nothing left in it.
00:05:45.848 --> 00:06:27.052
Please believe me, I have lived this and I'm trying my best not to relive it right, and it's hard, it is not easy, but I am urge you to really look within and find healing, to be able to give you a consciousness to make better choices around helping people Before you have fully, fully established your own generational wealth for your family and the people you love.
00:06:27.892 --> 00:06:38.833
We will never get there if we are giving out a hundred here, $20 here, $50 there, $700 here, $1,000 here, $10,000 here.
00:06:38.833 --> 00:06:41.822
Right, a couple of thousand dollars here.
00:06:41.822 --> 00:06:42.663
You got it.
00:06:42.663 --> 00:06:45.048
Yes, I got it for myself.
00:06:45.048 --> 00:06:51.379
But if we keep on giving, we won't even have it for ourselves.
00:06:51.379 --> 00:07:05.211
So that's why I am big on building generational wealth, so that one day I can be at that place that I'm in so much over flow Me.
00:07:05.211 --> 00:07:12.437
Giving out grants to my loved ones will not impact me.
00:07:12.437 --> 00:07:23.656
It could actually bless me if I put it in some type of non-profit that my family could benefit from.
00:07:23.656 --> 00:07:28.490
It could help me with taxes and a whole lot of other stuff.
00:07:29.240 --> 00:07:37.855
But to just give money and keep on giving money and the money is rarely returned, not never.
00:07:37.855 --> 00:07:47.553
Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not, and we really have to look at that right Within our families.
00:07:47.553 --> 00:07:57.654
Whether you are black, brown, white, disabled, abled, whatever I'm a believer, not a believer.
00:07:57.654 --> 00:08:06.026
You know, and I know that people say the Bible says we should give.
00:08:06.026 --> 00:08:15.908
The Bible also says we should be a good steward over what we have, and that means managing it well.
00:08:15.908 --> 00:08:30.471
God wants us to give when we are in a place to Now, sometimes we will be in a place to and sometimes we won't.
00:08:30.471 --> 00:08:34.386
But if it's a constant, that's not God.
00:08:34.386 --> 00:08:53.544
If it's like, oh, my God wanted a blue moon, okay, maybe, maybe, but God does not constantly put us in a broke space and say that we are still supposed to give, I don't believe that is God.
00:08:53.544 --> 00:08:54.509
That's my own view.
00:08:54.509 --> 00:09:16.393
Doesn't have to be yours, but I hope this is yours To be a good steward, to manage your money well, to manage your money well.
00:09:16.413 --> 00:09:17.820
And the biggest tool we have to help our loved ones is prayer.
00:09:17.820 --> 00:09:26.331
It's not our money, because we don't have enough of it to really change their circumstance or to change their consciousness.
00:09:26.331 --> 00:09:36.073
Like, even if you give a person a million dollars, if they have the same mindset, they will be in the same condition.
00:09:36.073 --> 00:10:10.903
And so be careful who you give your money to, because it will cause you financial stress, and financial stress can become chronic and, like chronic, can lead to diseases that will eventually lead to your death, eventually lead to your death.
00:10:10.903 --> 00:10:17.153
So that's why it is imperative for me to talk about this today Financial stress can lead to death.
00:10:17.916 --> 00:10:26.912
That's why we have to be very careful about who we give our money to and how we are managing the money we do have.
00:10:26.912 --> 00:10:43.596
Right, if you cannot afford to live in a $10,000 a month mortgage, don't live there.
00:10:43.596 --> 00:10:45.761
Live in a $500.
00:10:45.761 --> 00:10:46.743
An $800.
00:10:46.743 --> 00:10:47.783
A $1000.
00:10:47.783 --> 00:11:02.265
Whatever you can live in, that will not cause you Unnecessary stress, because you are, because you are, above what you are bringing.
00:11:02.265 --> 00:11:12.607
If you like Mercedes, like these luxury Rim cars, get one you can afford.
00:11:12.607 --> 00:11:17.652
You may not be able to get a A, a I'm 2020.
00:11:17.652 --> 00:11:20.368
But you could get a 2010.
00:11:21.501 --> 00:11:27.227
I do not believe that Like we need to Reduce what we want.
00:11:27.227 --> 00:11:33.072
We just need to get it within the price range we can afford it.
00:11:33.072 --> 00:11:46.413
And so the reason why we want to be careful with the way that we spend is because that can cause financial stress.
00:11:46.413 --> 00:12:08.392
Right, not just giving out money, but the way we spend it can create financial stress, and financial stress can become chronic, which can lead to diseases, which can lead to your death.
00:12:08.392 --> 00:12:22.035
And that's what we are trying to prevent Because, if not, let me know so that I can get a good life insurance policy.
00:12:22.035 --> 00:12:26.890
You know, you might as well, your death might as well lead to something great.
00:12:26.890 --> 00:12:47.166
Okay, I told you I have a sick sense of humor, but, in all seriousness, right, let's watch how we give out money to like people we love.
00:12:47.166 --> 00:12:53.538
Let's watch how we manage our money.
00:12:53.538 --> 00:12:59.005
I'm not saying not to get those things.
00:12:59.190 --> 00:13:07.955
Get it within your budget and like, if it's not Just wait, you can get it eventually.
00:13:07.955 --> 00:13:11.748
Save and what?
00:13:11.748 --> 00:13:12.250
Invest?
00:13:12.250 --> 00:13:14.980
Invest in the stock market.
00:13:14.980 --> 00:13:16.086
Build your money up.
00:13:16.086 --> 00:13:16.567
Start a market.
00:13:16.567 --> 00:13:17.029
Build your money up.
00:13:17.029 --> 00:13:18.875
Start a business.
00:13:18.875 --> 00:13:19.955
Build your money up.
00:13:19.955 --> 00:13:24.340
Do a hobby.
00:13:24.340 --> 00:13:25.754
Get your money me up.
00:13:25.929 --> 00:13:29.755
There are various ways we can get our money up.
00:13:29.755 --> 00:13:54.020
Go back to school, get a trade to get your money up, right, not to spend it more, not to give it out more, but to be able to be at the place for you to be your own family philanthropist.
00:13:54.020 --> 00:13:55.802
How dope would that be?
00:13:55.802 --> 00:14:06.390
To be able to give money and not be stressed out about it and not even need it back, right?
00:14:06.390 --> 00:14:16.140
And so please be careful giving out money to the people we love, and I struggle with this daily.
00:14:18.222 --> 00:14:21.366
This is not easy for me at all.
00:14:21.366 --> 00:14:24.292
I have to.
00:14:24.292 --> 00:14:38.240
I fall down and I have to get back up and learn to say no, and so, like I have not perfected this the way that like I would would like, but I'm getting pretty close.
00:14:38.240 --> 00:14:43.298
It's not a yes, 70% of it is a no.
00:14:43.298 --> 00:14:53.783
There's a 30% that I will give out a yes, but I want that to be a 100% no and a 0% yes.
00:14:53.783 --> 00:15:05.381
But I'm working at it, chipping it away and manage what you do have and spend within your means or below it.
00:15:05.381 --> 00:15:18.561
The more you're below it, the more you can invest either in the stock market, which I love, or buy some real estate or buy some bonds.
00:15:18.561 --> 00:15:22.385
You can buy things to help your money grow.
00:15:26.909 --> 00:15:50.517
And that's what we are about here Building generational wealth for the next generation, next generation so that, so that they won't even know the word financial, financial, financial stress, they'll be able to manage it well, because we have taught them just, only just, don't leave a legacy.
00:15:50.517 --> 00:15:55.761
Leave what education to leave?
00:15:55.761 --> 00:16:11.581
An education to please educate your, your like, family, about wealth management and the best way to handle the resources that we do have.
00:16:11.581 --> 00:16:14.543
Right, we can do it.
00:16:14.543 --> 00:16:18.717
We can do it, and so I hope this was helpful.
00:16:18.717 --> 00:16:21.339
It was longer than I wanted.
00:16:21.339 --> 00:16:33.875
I tried to keep this down to 10 minutes and or less, but I was very, very passionate About this topic Because I know the hurt and the harm Financial stress cause.
00:16:34.929 --> 00:16:46.046
So I pray that your financial stress cause, so I pray that your financial stress becomes eliminated in 2024.
00:16:46.046 --> 00:17:04.990
And to never rise, to never rise again that's my hope and that's my joy for you, your loved ones and our community.
00:17:04.990 --> 00:17:48.882
We deserve to have a joyful life, we deserve to have wealth, and we cannot get there until we manage our money well, until we stop giving what we don't have, until we seek God, like whoever you believe in, for direction concerning our money, so that we can make the best choices for ourselves, for our families and for the greater community.
00:17:48.882 --> 00:18:02.576
Because this life is not just about you and I'm a Leo and I wish it was, but I know it is not it is about more way more than just us.
00:18:02.576 --> 00:18:08.007
So let's go out and build generational wealth together.
