00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:04.000
Or listening to Build a Beautiful Life with Mitzi Campbell.
00:00:04.320 --> 00:00:11.919
When I started podcasting four years ago, my show was called Blessings, Shining a Light on the Blessings and Lessons of Life.
00:00:12.160 --> 00:00:17.280
I have learned so much since then, and I've evolved in my mission and in my brand.
00:00:17.440 --> 00:00:21.280
So my show is now called Build a Beautiful Life with Mitzi.
00:00:21.519 --> 00:00:25.920
And I hope that the things we talk about here can help you to do just that.
00:00:26.160 --> 00:00:29.039
Today I welcome my first guest of the summer.
00:00:29.199 --> 00:00:40.479
I wanted to bring my friend William Plonge to you all the way from Africa because I wanted to highlight that no matter where we are in the world, we all experience the same human things.
00:00:40.719 --> 00:00:43.280
At the heart of it all, we feel joy.
00:00:43.520 --> 00:00:44.640
We can all feel love.
00:00:44.799 --> 00:00:46.159
We can feel gratitude.
00:00:46.320 --> 00:00:57.600
But on the other side of the coin, at times, we all feel unsure, unsettled, stressed, betrayed, anxious, and we all struggle in our own ways.
00:00:57.759 --> 00:01:01.280
William is a Ghanaian-born motivational speaker.
00:01:01.439 --> 00:01:02.479
He's an author.
00:01:02.799 --> 00:01:16.000
He is the founder of a beautiful nonprofit organization called No Human Is Useless, a global movement to support people dealing with depression, situational challenges, and the search for personal purpose.
00:01:16.319 --> 00:01:18.079
Purpose is essential.
00:01:18.239 --> 00:01:19.599
We all need purpose.
00:01:19.840 --> 00:01:28.000
We all yearn to make meaning of our lives all across the world, from all walks of life, all ages, races, religions.
00:01:28.159 --> 00:01:31.040
And this is our universal quest as human beings.
00:01:31.200 --> 00:01:39.040
And when we understand this concept and are willing to engage in deep conversations about real issues, we can help make life beautiful.
00:01:39.280 --> 00:01:44.959
And William and I both believe that all humans deserve to have beautiful lives.
00:01:45.200 --> 00:01:47.599
Welcome, William Plonge to the show.
00:01:47.920 --> 00:01:49.680
Thank you, Misty, for having me.
00:01:49.840 --> 00:01:53.920
And it's a blessing, especially being the first on the show after the rebrand.
00:01:54.079 --> 00:01:55.680
So thank you so much for having me.
00:01:55.920 --> 00:01:57.040
I'm so glad to have you.
00:01:57.120 --> 00:02:04.719
And it was really just synchronicity that you came up in my feed somewhere, and I was ready to do interviews.
00:02:04.799 --> 00:02:11.280
And I thought, I've got to have William come on the show because of your mission and everything that you stand for and everything that you're building.
00:02:11.439 --> 00:02:19.599
And especially because it's so cool to me when you can have a connection with somebody who lives on the other side of the world.
00:02:19.840 --> 00:02:26.960
You still have the same fears, the same excitement about life, the same wants and needs and desires.
00:02:27.039 --> 00:02:29.039
We all are connected in that way.
00:02:29.280 --> 00:02:32.319
Even though if it weren't for the internet, we never would have met.
00:02:32.479 --> 00:02:44.159
I'd like to start out by just letting the audience know a little bit about your personal experience, because that is the thing that was the catalyst for you to start your nonprofit, No Human Is Useless.
00:02:44.400 --> 00:02:57.680
So I want to know a little bit about that story and specifically if you could talk about what inspired the name No Human is Useless, whether there was a time in your life when you felt useless, because it's a very unique name.
00:02:57.919 --> 00:03:02.319
And I know that this came from your personal journey with depression.
00:03:02.560 --> 00:03:07.840
So if you could tell us the story, just lead us into your whole story of how it all got started.
00:03:08.080 --> 00:03:08.800
Thank you very much.
00:03:08.960 --> 00:03:13.280
So I grew up with my grandmom, and at that time she owned a bar, a drinking bar.
00:03:13.439 --> 00:03:18.639
So my daily routine, I go to school, I come back home, I sell alcohol, I do my homework.
00:03:18.719 --> 00:03:20.879
That was what I was doing during my childhood.
00:03:21.039 --> 00:03:22.479
But I figured one thing out.
00:03:22.639 --> 00:03:36.240
In that community that I grew up in, everybody is going to tell a young schoolgoing boy or girl that make sure you go to school, make sure you take your book seriously, make sure you are first in class on top of everybody.
00:03:36.400 --> 00:03:41.199
Because if you do your life, it's going to be beautiful because you're going to land a good job.
00:03:41.360 --> 00:03:44.400
You're going to buy your car, get all the best things in life.
00:03:44.560 --> 00:03:51.280
Then they make references to people who own cars and they tell you that these people took their studies seriously.
00:03:51.360 --> 00:03:55.360
And after school, they were first in class and after school, they had all these things.
00:03:55.439 --> 00:04:02.560
So I grew up with that mindset, over expecting a lot from my life that right after school, my life is going to be beautiful.
00:04:02.719 --> 00:04:06.560
So I completed school with good grades and then I was struggling to get a job.
00:04:06.639 --> 00:04:08.319
And that's where the pressure started for me.
00:04:08.479 --> 00:04:14.639
Then I get these kind of jobs that the salary is too small, so I use my salary as transportation back to work.
00:04:14.719 --> 00:04:16.720
So at the end of the month, nothing to save.
00:04:16.879 --> 00:04:19.040
I need to borrow money and go back to work.
00:04:19.199 --> 00:04:22.480
So I was always living in debt and I wasn't happy within.
00:04:22.800 --> 00:04:26.399
Then I see my friends who I was way better than in class.
00:04:26.480 --> 00:04:38.160
Those who were bottom three in the class, they were fortunate, they had good jobs, they bought their cars, and they were living that life that I was promised that I was going to live if I was first in class.
00:04:38.319 --> 00:04:40.079
So all this thing baffled me up.
00:04:40.240 --> 00:04:51.040
And one day me and my friends we had a chit chat, and one of them who was very last in class, but fortunate with life, passed the comment to me that, hey, William, you need to get a life because we are all moving.
00:04:51.120 --> 00:04:52.879
And that really struck me so hard.
00:04:53.040 --> 00:04:56.480
And that time, my only option was my family.
00:04:56.800 --> 00:04:59.920
My only source of comfort should be my family.
00:05:00.079 --> 00:05:03.120
But my family also barely noticed me at that same point.
00:05:03.279 --> 00:05:07.199
Because as a firstborn, I'm expected to contribute to the bills at home.
00:05:07.279 --> 00:05:10.959
And I wasn't doing it because of my inability of having a good job to do.
00:05:11.120 --> 00:05:14.800
So all this thing became so depressing, chaotic in the city.
00:05:14.959 --> 00:05:16.000
I was living in the city.
00:05:16.079 --> 00:05:17.759
So one day I couldn't take it anymore.
00:05:17.839 --> 00:05:27.120
I said, hey, I want to leave this place so I can go where nobody gets because anytime I saw my friends doing well, I felt a bit jealous and I felt so bad inside.
00:05:27.199 --> 00:05:31.360
So I took it off one day and I moved from the city to go live in the forest.
00:05:31.439 --> 00:05:31.680
Right?
00:05:31.759 --> 00:05:33.199
I didn't know what I was doing.
00:05:33.360 --> 00:05:34.560
I just wanted to move away.
00:05:34.639 --> 00:05:36.879
So I knew this small family who lives in the forest.
00:05:37.040 --> 00:05:39.360
I called them and they said, Oh, I can come over.
00:05:39.439 --> 00:05:41.519
So I went there and it was hell.
00:05:41.680 --> 00:05:44.079
No electricity, no good drinking water.
00:05:44.240 --> 00:05:46.720
Sometimes we drank from a stream that looked green in color.
00:05:46.879 --> 00:05:55.519
And when we wake up in the morning around 4 a.m., we need to walk like five hours into the deep farms to get food stuff so that we can come back home and prepare food.
00:05:55.920 --> 00:05:57.360
I wasn't exposed to this kind of life.
00:05:57.519 --> 00:06:01.759
As a young boy growing up from the city, this wasn't the lifestyle I was known to.
00:06:01.839 --> 00:06:03.839
But this is what I had at that time.
00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:06.160
So I was just doing it that way.
00:06:06.319 --> 00:06:10.399
But after a week, I realized that inside of me, I was getting calm.
00:06:10.560 --> 00:06:12.720
I wasn't thinking about not having a job.
00:06:12.959 --> 00:06:14.720
I was getting more happier within.
00:06:14.800 --> 00:06:19.040
And I realized that it was because of the people I found myself with, there was nothing like competition.
00:06:19.120 --> 00:06:22.000
There was nothing like somebody wanting to be better than the other.
00:06:22.160 --> 00:06:25.199
We are all loving people in that village, in that forest.
00:06:25.279 --> 00:06:28.319
So I was getting healed within naturally.
00:06:28.720 --> 00:06:32.879
So one evening around 9 p.m., I love to meditate and pray a lot.
00:06:33.040 --> 00:06:39.120
So around 9 p.m., I went to sit under a tree and I was like, hey God, is my life always going to be this way?
00:06:39.279 --> 00:06:40.639
I want to have an encounter with you.
00:06:40.720 --> 00:06:42.399
I want to hear your voice, talk to me.
00:06:42.560 --> 00:06:44.399
I was just saying these random words.
00:06:44.560 --> 00:06:48.079
Then within 30 minutes, I hear a voice, a female voice.
00:06:48.240 --> 00:06:49.439
I remember vividly.
00:06:49.600 --> 00:06:58.000
A female voice whispered in my ear that William, go back to the city, start a business called the Errant Boy, and that's all I had, errant boy.
00:06:58.160 --> 00:07:04.959
So six months down the line, I came back to the city, and mind you, it didn't explain to me what to do with the errand boy, just errant boy.
00:07:05.120 --> 00:07:08.879
I came back to the city, got somebody to design a logo for me with my name, Mr.
00:07:08.959 --> 00:07:11.360
Plunch, and I said, Hey, add the errant boy to it.
00:07:11.439 --> 00:07:12.319
That's my slogan.
00:07:12.399 --> 00:07:13.839
So we had a beautiful logo, Mr.
00:07:13.920 --> 00:07:15.120
Plunch, the Errant Boy.
00:07:15.199 --> 00:07:20.079
And I remember when I posted it, some of my friends saw it and they called me, William, why the errand boy?
00:07:20.160 --> 00:07:21.040
That is so childish.
00:07:21.199 --> 00:07:22.480
You're a full-grown man.
00:07:22.639 --> 00:07:24.959
You need to use errand man, not errand boy.
00:07:25.040 --> 00:07:27.120
And I go, you don't know how I got this message.
00:07:27.279 --> 00:07:28.000
Let me be.
00:07:28.240 --> 00:07:29.839
So I maintained the errand boy.
00:07:29.920 --> 00:07:30.319
And guess what?
00:07:30.560 --> 00:07:41.040
In the spot of a week, I posted it and said, hey, if you're a busy scheduled person and you want somebody to run errands for you, pick your kids from school for you, do the groceries for you, do your laundry for you, call on me.
00:07:41.120 --> 00:07:42.079
I'm the errand boy.
00:07:42.240 --> 00:07:50.399
And within the week, I get calls from high-profile people lawyers, judges, policemen, bankers calling me that, hey William, I saw your logo.
00:07:50.480 --> 00:07:51.519
Can you help me do this for me?
00:07:51.680 --> 00:07:52.879
Can you help me do this for me?
00:07:53.040 --> 00:07:55.279
And that business took off.
00:07:55.439 --> 00:08:03.040
I wasn't getting much money, but I was so fulfilled within me when I'm able to set in to help somebody and they say, God bless you, William.
00:08:03.120 --> 00:08:04.079
Thank you so much, William.
00:08:04.240 --> 00:08:06.959
That alone made me feel so special within me.
00:08:07.120 --> 00:08:07.360
Right.
00:08:07.519 --> 00:08:12.399
So fast forward, and I'm coming to how come new humanity business came to be in COVID.
00:08:12.639 --> 00:08:21.360
When COVID came up, my grandmom one day, and mind you, my grandmom took care of me, paid my school fees, did all the good stuff for me when I was growing up.
00:08:21.519 --> 00:08:28.240
But when COVID came up, my grandmom woke up one day and said, Hey William, I am broke, I need money, so you need to move out of this house.
00:08:28.399 --> 00:08:30.800
So I want to rent your room so I can make money.
00:08:30.959 --> 00:08:32.080
And I thought it was a joke.
00:08:32.240 --> 00:08:38.879
I stepped out, I came back, and my grandmom had packed all my stuff, my bed, my clothing outside the gates.
00:08:39.039 --> 00:08:40.080
William, leave this house.
00:08:40.320 --> 00:08:42.399
Father, the whole world was crashing on me.
00:08:42.559 --> 00:08:43.919
So I had this mindset.
00:08:44.000 --> 00:08:45.919
My grandmom was a leader in the Catholic church.
00:08:46.080 --> 00:08:54.720
So I decided to go to the church with my mom and bring some elders to come and plead on my behalf because I knew she would have reverence for these church people.
00:08:54.879 --> 00:09:01.919
Now I made it worse because when the people came to speak to her, she told them bluntly that, hey, the church didn't hold my house for me.
00:09:02.000 --> 00:09:04.639
It's my own property, and I decide what to do with it.
00:09:04.799 --> 00:09:06.799
So my grandson should leave this house.
00:09:06.960 --> 00:09:08.000
So I had to leave.
00:09:08.080 --> 00:09:09.200
And it was all tears.
00:09:09.360 --> 00:09:14.000
People mentioned that, hey, you don't like this, your calm grandson, this loving boy.
00:09:14.080 --> 00:09:15.279
Why are you treating him bad?
00:09:15.440 --> 00:09:18.879
But little did I know that push was going to be a blessing for me.
00:09:18.960 --> 00:09:19.279
Right?
00:09:19.360 --> 00:09:25.360
So my mom had to organize some money and I went to rent a small wooden structure, like a ghetto.
00:09:25.440 --> 00:09:26.799
I dug my stuff in there.
00:09:26.879 --> 00:09:30.080
I need to maneuver myself in a way to enter.
00:09:30.399 --> 00:09:36.399
And anytime I woke up, I am praying and I'm crying because I thought my whole life had come to an end.
00:09:36.639 --> 00:09:41.039
So one day I jumped on LinkedIn and I posted a picture of me in the forest.
00:09:41.120 --> 00:09:45.840
And I said, hey, sometimes we need to go through pain and struggles to find our blessings.
00:09:46.000 --> 00:09:50.879
Sometimes people have to push us through uncomfortable situations so that we can find our blessings.
00:09:51.120 --> 00:09:55.279
Because I had my first business idea in the forest, not in the city.
00:09:55.440 --> 00:10:00.399
So when I profited, this man from the US saw it and said, Hey, William, I think you have an amazing story.
00:10:00.480 --> 00:10:02.639
Let me introduce you to this group in the US.
00:10:02.720 --> 00:10:05.360
If you want to share your story, I'm like, cool, I want to share my story.
00:10:05.440 --> 00:10:10.480
So we had a Zoom meeting, me and about 30 businessmen and women, and I told them my story.
00:10:10.639 --> 00:10:11.440
They loved it.
00:10:11.600 --> 00:10:13.679
And at that time, I have these marks that I make.
00:10:13.759 --> 00:10:15.279
I call it the invisible marks.
00:10:15.360 --> 00:10:16.639
So they are black marks.
00:10:16.879 --> 00:10:19.679
You don't see anything on it unless I pour hot water in it.
00:10:19.759 --> 00:10:23.519
So I can put your image on it, but you don't see it till I pour hot water.
00:10:23.600 --> 00:10:28.559
So after I told them my story, I made one of the marks with the CEO of that networking group.
00:10:28.639 --> 00:10:32.720
So I brought the mark out and I'm like, hey, human beings are like these marks.
00:10:32.960 --> 00:10:34.960
And I didn't know where these words came from.
00:10:35.120 --> 00:10:44.559
I said, human beings are like these marks when you're not aware of your worth, when you're not aware of the beautiful things the universe has blessed you with, you look black like this.
00:10:44.720 --> 00:10:53.519
But sometimes when we go through pain and struggles, that is the hot water, pain, struggles, uncomfortable situations, those things doesn't mean we should end our life.
00:10:53.600 --> 00:11:03.200
It means that it's going to challenge us to pay attention to the beautiful things you are not paying attention because of the noise we are looking for forward to on the outside.
00:11:03.360 --> 00:11:10.480
So while I was doing that, and I was saying these words, the email started popping up slowly, and she saw her face and she was like, Wow, William.
00:11:10.639 --> 00:11:11.759
And they all loved it.
00:11:11.840 --> 00:11:15.919
And the next minute they started ordering these masks from Ghana to the US.
00:11:16.000 --> 00:11:18.799
I started shipping these masks from Ghana to the US.
00:11:18.879 --> 00:11:20.720
And I started making some cool cash.
00:11:20.799 --> 00:11:31.519
And I always said thank you to my grandmom because if she hadn't sucked me from the house, I wouldn't have got to the ghetto, jumped on LinkedIn, and even have this mindset to do what I do to meet these people.
00:11:31.679 --> 00:11:43.120
So fast forward, I became a member of the group, and one day I was meditating, and that same voice that I encountered with in the forest whispers in my ears and says, William, these people love books.
00:11:43.279 --> 00:11:45.919
Every time they are talking about books, and you have a story.
00:11:46.080 --> 00:11:52.159
So why don't you put your story in a book and title the book, No Human Is Useless?
00:11:52.320 --> 00:11:56.080
So the name came from that voice, that encounter I had in the forest.
00:11:56.240 --> 00:12:02.320
And till today I say that maybe I had to go through depression to go to the forest to have this encounter.
00:12:02.480 --> 00:12:05.200
Just this little encounter with that voice.
00:12:05.360 --> 00:12:07.600
So it led me to writing my book.
00:12:07.759 --> 00:12:09.679
I never thought of becoming an author.
00:12:09.759 --> 00:12:11.200
It wasn't part of my plan, right?
00:12:11.279 --> 00:12:13.600
But I became an author, wrote the book Low Human issues.
00:12:14.080 --> 00:12:19.840
And currently it is nine times international bestselling in four countries: US, UK, Canada, and Germany.
00:12:20.000 --> 00:12:24.320
So I decided to, okay, why don't I turn this into a movement with the same name?
00:12:24.480 --> 00:12:30.639
I register this nonprofit because I realized that people in my country go through the same channel that I went to.
00:12:31.039 --> 00:12:38.559
Going to school, expecting to become wealthy after school, and life doesn't go as planned, and they get depressed, and some commit suicide.
00:12:38.639 --> 00:12:50.559
So why don't I use my story to move to schools, move to places where people are and tell them my journey so they could know that after school is not automatically guaranteed to be successful.
00:12:50.720 --> 00:12:56.639
Life can throw many things at you, but it is up to you to turn it around to purpose, like what I'm doing.
00:12:56.799 --> 00:12:57.840
So it has been so good.
00:12:57.919 --> 00:13:00.080
I started this no human issues less.
00:13:00.159 --> 00:13:05.039
I go to school, I go to prisons, I do healing room sessions, and it's all about storytelling.
00:13:05.200 --> 00:13:13.039
People coming to share what they've been through and how to overcome it to inspire other people to also come out from that situation.
00:13:13.200 --> 00:13:22.399
So if you ask me why don't human issues came about, it came from my journey and that little tiny female voice that I encountered in the forest.
00:13:22.720 --> 00:13:23.919
That gives me goosebumps.
00:13:24.159 --> 00:13:30.799
It's such a cool story, and I think it makes me want to ask you a few different questions.
00:13:30.879 --> 00:13:40.559
But the one thing that stands out first is the idea that you had to go to a place where you were shutting off the noise of society.
00:13:40.879 --> 00:13:51.519
You had to go into the forest, and you had to not have the conveniences of being in the city so that you could connect to the essence of yourself.
00:13:51.679 --> 00:13:57.440
Do you think that voice was an angel, God, your higher self?
00:13:57.600 --> 00:13:58.559
Are they all the same?
00:13:58.720 --> 00:13:59.519
Who is the voice?
00:13:59.840 --> 00:14:00.960
For me, I think it's an angel.
00:14:01.120 --> 00:14:10.559
The reason why I say that is when I was five years old, I used to see this image like a female with wearing a veil, all dressed down.
00:14:10.720 --> 00:14:13.360
Then the first time I saw her, I thought it was Mary.
00:14:13.600 --> 00:14:16.159
So when you go to the Roman Catholic, they have a statue of the Mary.
00:14:16.240 --> 00:14:19.279
So I thought it was Mary, the statue that has been placed there.
00:14:19.440 --> 00:14:24.559
So I rushed up to go call my grandmom to come and look at the Mary because we were Catholic at that time.
00:14:24.799 --> 00:14:31.519
Now I was standing with the image and my grandmom, but my grandmom said she couldn't see anything.
00:14:31.679 --> 00:14:33.519
I was the only one seeing it at that time.
00:14:33.679 --> 00:14:33.919
Right?
00:14:34.000 --> 00:14:41.840
So sometimes I feel like it is that image that I saw, that female image that I saw that came back to the forest to whisper to me.
00:14:41.919 --> 00:14:43.679
That's my strongest thing about it.
00:14:43.759 --> 00:14:45.840
Because I had that in Counter when I was a child.
00:14:46.000 --> 00:14:48.240
This is the first time I'm saying this everywhere.
00:14:48.399 --> 00:14:49.360
I've never said it anywhere.
00:14:49.679 --> 00:14:51.840
Well, I'm glad that you have the courage to say that.
00:14:52.159 --> 00:14:55.120
Because many people have experiences like that.
00:14:55.279 --> 00:14:57.679
We see things that only we can see.
00:14:57.840 --> 00:14:59.440
We hear things that only we can hear.
00:14:59.600 --> 00:15:08.960
And in the past, you would have been labeled crazy, or even at the worst of times, might have been committed or burned at the stake or something, you know.
00:15:09.200 --> 00:15:12.799
But honestly, I have experiences like that all the time.
00:15:13.039 --> 00:15:16.799
I 100% believe that there are angels guiding me in my life.
00:15:17.039 --> 00:15:18.559
And many people believe that.
00:15:18.720 --> 00:15:21.200
And so I love that we're talking about it.
00:15:21.279 --> 00:15:24.720
And I think we should talk about it more because we all need guidance.
00:15:24.879 --> 00:15:34.240
And the interesting thing you mentioned was that it's only through the darkness and through those really difficult things, like your grandmother had to kick you out.
00:15:34.480 --> 00:15:36.559
She had to say, You cannot live here anymore.
00:15:36.720 --> 00:15:39.039
And you were homeless and had to move to the ghetto.
00:15:39.360 --> 00:15:40.720
And that's tough.
00:15:40.960 --> 00:15:44.000
Your friends were telling you that you had to get a life.
00:15:44.080 --> 00:15:46.399
Like all of those things are so hard to go through.
00:15:46.559 --> 00:15:51.360
And many people wouldn't bounce back as easily as you did.
00:15:51.679 --> 00:16:04.879
So, what kind of advice do you have for somebody who is going through a dark period, who needs to use that as fuel to rebuild something in their lives?
00:16:05.039 --> 00:16:07.759
How can people do that when they're really just not seeing the light?
00:16:07.840 --> 00:16:09.039
They're just in the darkness.
00:16:09.279 --> 00:16:09.679
Yeah.
00:16:09.919 --> 00:16:18.720
So, one thing I always say is God, your higher self, whatever thing you believe in, it hides your blessings in discomfort.
00:16:18.960 --> 00:16:23.440
The beautiful things, the best things in life, they are always found in tough situations.
00:16:23.600 --> 00:16:26.000
That is one truth that I want everybody to know.
00:16:26.080 --> 00:16:32.240
Because in Ghana, when you want to mine gold, you need to go to the deepest crust of the soil to get it.
00:16:32.399 --> 00:16:34.879
And it's very dark, it's very tough to go there.
00:16:35.120 --> 00:16:38.559
So the best things in life, they are found in those situations.
00:16:38.720 --> 00:16:39.039
All right.
00:16:39.279 --> 00:16:43.200
But sometimes when people are going through this, it might feel like it is forever.
00:16:43.279 --> 00:16:44.879
And that's where the issue comes in.
00:16:45.039 --> 00:16:50.720
I went to the forest in 2014, and guess when I started doing knowing my issues, it's 2020, there about.
00:16:50.960 --> 00:16:52.399
So imagine all these years.
00:16:52.559 --> 00:16:57.519
It is never easy, it's very tough, and it feels like things are not are never going to change.
00:16:57.679 --> 00:17:00.080
It's taking forever and all of those stuff.
00:17:00.159 --> 00:17:09.279
But I'd get to advise people if you're watching me, if you're going through this situation, I tell you there is a blessing in there, it is hidden, and you need to find out.
00:17:09.440 --> 00:17:12.799
But you don't fight it with chaos, you don't fight it with strength.
00:17:13.039 --> 00:17:15.359
It takes calmness to get all these answers.
00:17:15.519 --> 00:17:17.119
Like me, I went to the forest.
00:17:17.279 --> 00:17:21.920
I'm not saying go to the forest, but I went to the forest, and that's where I had my answers.
00:17:22.000 --> 00:17:24.640
And it was because the city was so noisy.
00:17:24.799 --> 00:17:26.400
Everybody was saying, go find a job.
00:17:26.559 --> 00:17:28.720
And I was thinking outside myself.
00:17:28.880 --> 00:17:37.119
So the forest gave me that relaxing moment, that calmness to go deep into myself and perhaps have this encounter with this voice I'm talking about.
00:17:37.359 --> 00:17:40.559
But it's never going to take forever, and the blessing is hidden in there.
00:17:40.799 --> 00:17:42.400
So you should be even helpful.
00:17:43.599 --> 00:17:50.240
It reminds me of the story of the Buddha who, you know, Siddhartha, who went and sat under a tree and became enlightened.
00:17:50.559 --> 00:18:00.480
And it's very interesting that nature, being in nature, helped you connect to that voice, that angel, and you had to be open to it.
00:18:00.799 --> 00:18:07.519
You were out there, and I love what you said about the people of that forest community.
00:18:08.000 --> 00:18:11.519
Their purpose was to get food and bring it home, prepare it.
00:18:11.599 --> 00:18:12.559
That was their purpose.
00:18:12.720 --> 00:18:17.200
Their purpose was nothing more than just the cycle of life for that day.
00:18:17.920 --> 00:18:20.319
And there are people who live their whole lives that way.
00:18:20.480 --> 00:18:22.480
And actually, we all do if you think about it.
00:18:22.880 --> 00:18:26.559
We're all just working to be able to continue to live another day.
00:18:26.799 --> 00:18:37.680
One thing that strikes me about your story is, and it's a very good thing for people to think about is that you were told, as we all were told, that if you get good grades, you're going to be successful.
00:18:37.839 --> 00:18:48.640
And we all know now that we see people, especially a lot of these young people who are doing things online and working with AI and technology, they're able to make lots of money.
00:18:48.799 --> 00:18:54.960
And many of them have not gone to college and have not maybe not even been a student.
00:18:55.119 --> 00:18:55.680
So I don't know.
00:18:55.920 --> 00:18:57.519
It is interesting that you saw that.
00:18:57.680 --> 00:19:00.240
And I think we should still all strive for excellence.
00:19:00.400 --> 00:19:04.000
I do believe that you want to be academically strong, absolutely.
00:19:04.160 --> 00:19:08.319
But to understand that isn't going to correlate to automatic success.
00:19:08.559 --> 00:19:12.079
You definitely need to do the work.
00:19:12.319 --> 00:19:20.559
And what you described as these menial jobs that you had to take that kept you stuck in the cycle of poverty.
00:19:20.720 --> 00:19:22.160
And that happens to so many people.
00:19:22.400 --> 00:19:38.319
So that's where the idea that you knew how to be successful, you knew how to get an A, that probably was something that helped you, even though it didn't translate automatically, it helped you to become an entrepreneur, which is where the real money started to come in.
00:19:39.200 --> 00:19:46.960
What do you think about for young people today, the idea of entrepreneurship versus the type of job that keeps you stuck?
00:19:47.119 --> 00:19:49.920
What kind of advice do you have on that front?
00:19:50.240 --> 00:19:51.680
For me, I'll be blunt on this.
00:19:51.839 --> 00:19:56.880
I would tell you that going as an entrepreneur is the best, right?
00:19:57.200 --> 00:19:58.480
But it takes sacrifice.
00:19:58.720 --> 00:19:59.839
It takes sacrifice.
00:20:00.000 --> 00:20:03.839
And it will be very smooth for you if it is based on passion.
00:20:04.000 --> 00:20:20.240
If passion takes you through that entrepreneurship, it becomes much easier because at the end of the day, you are expected to make sales and in business, you could go three months without sales, and you can go like a week with about one year's sales, you can come at once.
00:20:20.400 --> 00:20:20.720
All right.
00:20:20.799 --> 00:20:25.440
So what if you are going through three months without sales and you don't have passion for it?
00:20:25.599 --> 00:20:29.440
You are going to be tempted to quit and say, Oh, this is not good for me.
00:20:29.519 --> 00:20:31.680
And then you jump on something which is even wrong.
00:20:31.839 --> 00:20:32.160
All right.
00:20:32.319 --> 00:20:38.880
So first I say make sure I will choose entrepreneurship, but our advice that make sure it is driven by passion.
00:20:38.960 --> 00:20:42.799
Because the passion is going to drive you to keep doing it even when sales are not coming.
00:20:42.960 --> 00:20:43.440
All right.
00:20:43.599 --> 00:20:48.720
Now, on the other side of getting a job, you are going to see money every month.
00:20:48.960 --> 00:20:55.440
Yet the money cannot be used for something meaningful for you that will make you feel so okay.
00:20:55.599 --> 00:21:00.000
But then you're going to see money every day, every month to sort some pet bills.
00:21:00.240 --> 00:21:06.799
But you can go a week and take get money as an entrepreneur for like a whole two years, big money for two years without working.
00:21:07.039 --> 00:21:07.839
And it's there, yeah.
00:21:07.920 --> 00:21:09.200
So it depends, it's dicey.
00:21:09.279 --> 00:21:16.559
It depends on your heart and the sacrifices if you are willing to make the sacrifices and make sure you build a business around your passion.
00:21:17.440 --> 00:21:17.759
Yeah.
00:21:18.079 --> 00:21:21.039
What would you say is your biggest sacrifice that you had to make?
00:21:22.720 --> 00:21:25.920
As an entrepreneur, is to go three months without sales.
00:21:26.559 --> 00:21:28.079
Go three months without deals.
00:21:29.279 --> 00:21:29.599
Yes.
00:21:29.920 --> 00:21:31.279
So it's not consistent.
00:21:31.599 --> 00:21:36.400
But what you described is the essence of purpose and meaning.
00:21:36.640 --> 00:21:41.279
So you described that you have passion for something, you have a drive for something.
00:21:41.359 --> 00:21:43.599
It's almost like it's a calling.
00:21:43.759 --> 00:21:47.920
It's a little bit of a spiritual spin, I think, in as an entrepreneur.
00:21:48.079 --> 00:21:56.720
It's because it's like something deep within you that drives you, even though you don't have a reliable income in a lot of cases.
00:21:56.960 --> 00:21:59.359
So that's really interesting that you bring that up.
00:21:59.519 --> 00:22:02.799
Um But there's so much opportunity out there.
00:22:03.039 --> 00:22:11.599
What do you see are the biggest opportunities for people as entrepreneurs and even in your own field, in your part of the world?
00:22:11.839 --> 00:22:12.000
Yeah.
00:22:12.319 --> 00:22:33.759
So in my space, for instance, with depression and with what I help people recover, I think there's a very big market in what I do because every single human being, every single youth, every single person on the streets having a smiling faces, doing their things on a normal basis, is suffering deeply inside that they can't talk about.
00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:38.880
And the reason why I noticed this is usually organize a session I call the healing room.
00:22:38.960 --> 00:22:39.279
All right.
00:22:39.359 --> 00:22:43.759
And when I announced it, I needed only 30 people because it was a small space.
00:22:43.839 --> 00:22:49.359
We have an intimate conversation, no recordings, no judgments for people to pour out what they are going through.
00:22:49.440 --> 00:22:58.640
And when I shared an announcement on TikTok, I get 54,000 views, over 100 people in my DMs saying, William, I'm going through a lot.
00:22:58.799 --> 00:22:59.920
I want to be part of this.
00:23:00.079 --> 00:23:01.119
I want a whole lot.
00:23:01.279 --> 00:23:10.480
So I realized that almost every human being, regardless of they having a house, a car, having a job, not having a job, is going through something.
00:23:10.640 --> 00:23:13.839
And that makes my area, my space very lucrative.
00:23:14.000 --> 00:23:20.559
Though I've not monetized it yet, because I'm just putting myself up there for people to understand what we are about.
00:23:20.720 --> 00:23:26.880
And one thing is this in my part of the world, people have not really understood that I need to see a therapist.
00:23:26.960 --> 00:23:28.319
They don't understand that thing.
00:23:28.480 --> 00:23:32.240
Because we've grown up with that mindset that you need to be strong.
00:23:32.400 --> 00:23:33.920
Even when you're weak, you need to be strong.
00:23:34.000 --> 00:23:35.839
You need to man up, especially the men.
00:23:35.920 --> 00:23:36.720
You need to man up.
00:23:36.799 --> 00:23:38.559
So people have not really understood this thing.
00:23:38.799 --> 00:23:47.119
But with my sessions like the healing room, I get people coming in, coming to pour everything that they've never talked to anybody about for over 10 years.
00:23:47.200 --> 00:23:57.920
But they feel free to talk about it because I start off by sharing my story, showing them pictures of what I've been through and what I'm doing, and gives them encouragement to do the same.
00:23:58.480 --> 00:24:11.759
So I'm even now thinking about having a coffee lounge and call it the healing room where people will just have come have coffee and have interactions, one-on-one interactions with people who are also going through stuff so that they can heal together.
00:24:12.000 --> 00:24:13.599
So it's a very big market.
00:24:13.759 --> 00:24:18.559
It's just that it's very hard to get finances to run it here.
00:24:18.880 --> 00:24:20.400
So that is my only challenge.
00:24:20.559 --> 00:24:26.400
Otherwise, a company organization giving me grants to do a lot of these things would be a very big market.
00:24:26.640 --> 00:24:30.960
I think people need that emotional support all over the world.
00:24:31.200 --> 00:24:45.759
And what you just brought up about the difference between men and women, culturally speaking, that men are taught to be tough, to man up, like you said, to not express it when they are struggling.
00:24:46.079 --> 00:24:52.799
Do you find that it's mostly women coming in for help, or is it also men?
00:24:53.039 --> 00:24:53.519
So this.
00:24:53.839 --> 00:24:56.240
And I'll use my hearing room session as an example.
00:24:56.640 --> 00:24:59.039
We could have like seven women and three men.
00:24:59.200 --> 00:24:59.519
Okay.
00:24:59.680 --> 00:25:01.200
And that's how bad it still is.
00:25:01.279 --> 00:25:04.160
Because women open up a lot than men.
00:25:04.559 --> 00:25:12.960
Because probably the culture has made it look like it is so normal for a girl, for a woman to open up, but it's not normal for men.
00:25:13.039 --> 00:25:14.079
And we are still struggling.
00:25:14.160 --> 00:25:20.880
But I can see that many people are championing causes about men's mental health to just change the narrative.
00:25:21.039 --> 00:25:21.839
But it's gradual.
00:25:22.799 --> 00:25:25.039
Yeah, I think we do need to change the narrative.
00:25:25.359 --> 00:25:27.359
And I see a lot of those groups as well.
00:25:27.680 --> 00:25:37.599
But I believe it actually takes more strength to express strong emotion than to hide it or suppress it.
00:25:37.920 --> 00:25:38.960
It's very interesting.
00:25:39.440 --> 00:25:44.319
What is one of the biggest problems that you see people struggling with today?
00:25:44.640 --> 00:25:46.720
No jobs, lack of finances.
00:25:46.880 --> 00:25:49.200
That is a major, especially among the youth.
00:25:49.359 --> 00:25:57.440
If you put 10 people there, eight of them, financial struggles, no jobs, or even if they are working, their salaries are not enough.
00:25:57.519 --> 00:25:58.640
That is the major thing.
00:25:58.799 --> 00:26:01.039
And we have others, smaller group of people.
00:26:01.200 --> 00:26:04.400
I'm 35 years, I'm married, and it's eating them up.
00:26:04.559 --> 00:26:07.359
Some are married, no kids, it's eating them up.
00:26:07.519 --> 00:26:10.400
And those are some of the things that I encounter people with.
00:26:10.640 --> 00:26:13.119
Lady comes to me and says, I'm 35 years, I'm not married.
00:26:13.279 --> 00:26:14.640
All my friends, I'm getting married.
00:26:14.799 --> 00:26:21.279
And I ask her one question: Who made the laws that compulsory you're supposed to be 35 to be married?
00:26:21.440 --> 00:26:28.079
And you can clearly tell that it's because of the societal pressure, the norms that have been thrown to society, that is what is eating them out.
00:26:28.240 --> 00:26:30.799
I said people get married at the age of 40 and they give birth.
00:26:30.880 --> 00:26:33.680
Some get married at the age of 18 years and they divorce at 20.
00:26:33.759 --> 00:26:36.000
So it's no rush, it's just a perfect timing.
00:26:36.240 --> 00:26:36.640
That's right.
00:26:36.799 --> 00:26:39.279
And how do you feel about that kind of pressure?
00:26:39.440 --> 00:26:44.960
We all seem to be really susceptible to comparing ourselves to others on social media.
00:26:45.200 --> 00:27:04.640
Everyone, I know everyone, even my age, I'm 59, and we all, no matter the age, go online and see other people that we automatically compare ourselves to, and it makes us feel bad about ourselves or feel behind in life or feel like we just aren't where we want to be.
00:27:04.799 --> 00:27:10.319
Do you see people struggling with that, specifically so comparing themselves to others on social media?
00:27:10.480 --> 00:27:11.519
And how do you feel about that?
00:27:11.839 --> 00:27:12.799
So many people do that.
00:27:12.960 --> 00:27:23.359
I've got people who have worked out to me, they have good jobs, they have their cars, they have everything, but they see what I do and they walk up to me and say, William, I wish I can do what you're doing.
00:27:23.519 --> 00:27:24.480
So you take my job.
00:27:24.640 --> 00:27:25.599
Let's exchange.
00:27:25.759 --> 00:27:31.440
Meanwhile, I have my problems that I'm going through that is not seen on the social media.
00:27:31.599 --> 00:27:35.279
I only post the polished version just to promote what I'm doing.
00:27:35.519 --> 00:27:40.640
But aside that, I have my own problems that I don't talk about, and people don't know about it, but they wish to be me.
00:27:40.799 --> 00:27:44.960
Meanwhile, they wouldn't love to go through what I'm going through currently.
00:27:45.119 --> 00:27:48.480
But so I think that is, I feel so bad when people go through that.
00:27:48.720 --> 00:27:54.480
It also catches with us when we see something that we wish we could have been there on the social media.
00:27:54.640 --> 00:27:56.480
Sometimes we are also triggered.
00:27:56.640 --> 00:28:00.240
But for me, I try to remind myself that hey, it is not a race.
00:28:00.319 --> 00:28:03.279
I've also achieved so many things those people don't have.
00:28:03.440 --> 00:28:09.440
So if you see on my TikTok, I made a post that social media will make you chase people you're already ahead of.
00:28:10.240 --> 00:28:14.079
And I have had an experience, this person that everybody looks up to.
00:28:14.160 --> 00:28:14.960
They want to be like that.
00:28:15.039 --> 00:28:16.960
And I had an encounter with that person.
00:28:17.759 --> 00:28:27.200
And no, no, you've had so many achievements that day that everybody wants to look up to and be like them, don't even have it.
00:28:28.480 --> 00:28:33.440
So I make that post that social media will make you choose people you're you're already ahead of.
00:28:33.680 --> 00:28:35.440
That's very profound.
00:28:35.920 --> 00:28:39.279
What do you mean by that you're already ahead of?
00:28:39.519 --> 00:28:45.920
What does it mean to not realize that where you are in life is better than you think?
00:28:46.079 --> 00:28:49.039
Because you're comparing yourself to something that isn't real.
00:28:49.359 --> 00:28:57.599
So what I mean by the ahead of is you have something that people would love to have and they don't have it, but you don't regard it.
00:28:57.759 --> 00:29:02.720
So to them, they need what you have, but you are not being grateful for what you have.
00:29:02.880 --> 00:29:08.559
So in the end, it becomes like you are ahead of them because the people you are looking out to even need what you already have.
00:29:08.720 --> 00:29:10.480
So that's what I tell by ahead.
00:29:10.559 --> 00:29:14.319
But it doesn't mean that it's a competition with you're chasing something.
00:29:14.559 --> 00:29:20.400
But I just want to see be content with what you have because many people are looking for it and they don't even have it.
00:29:20.720 --> 00:29:22.480
Gratitude is very important.
00:29:22.880 --> 00:29:28.000
How do you keep gratitude alive in your life when you are feeling down?
00:29:28.240 --> 00:29:29.599
I never throw my past away.
00:29:29.680 --> 00:29:31.599
I have pictures of all the pain and struggles.
00:29:31.759 --> 00:29:36.240
So I just have to look at it and say, God, I'm thankful for how far you brought me.
00:29:36.400 --> 00:29:41.279
So my past has always been a reminder in every step I take.
00:29:41.680 --> 00:29:42.960
People say, throw away your past.
00:29:43.039 --> 00:29:44.640
I don't throw my past away.
00:29:44.799 --> 00:29:47.359
I need to look back back then, see how far I've been.
00:29:47.440 --> 00:29:54.240
And if I'm in a state of depression, I go back and say, Oh, I was able to overcome this one, this horrible one.
00:29:54.319 --> 00:29:57.039
So this one I'm facing right now, I can overcome it again.
00:29:57.200 --> 00:30:01.200
So that is what that has been keeping me going and making me so grateful.
00:30:01.440 --> 00:30:01.759
Yeah.
00:30:02.079 --> 00:30:17.279
It's a great idea to keep a record, either mentally or some people actually keep a list of your wins and things that you've overcome so that you can see that there is evidence of your success in life.
00:30:17.599 --> 00:30:25.599
By the very fact that we're still here, we have gotten through all of the difficult times that have been presented in our lives so far.
00:30:25.759 --> 00:30:32.160
So chances are we're gonna continue, if the odds are good, we're gonna continue getting through everything.
00:30:32.319 --> 00:30:34.000
And then I think that's so important.
00:30:34.400 --> 00:30:42.559
Why do you think it is that people are feeling more disconnected from purpose in today's world?
00:30:42.880 --> 00:30:58.160
So I feel that the system, how the system has been made, you need to pay bills, you need to electricity, water bills, whatever 10 bills on us would divert you to go look for something that will give you money, cash to solve those problems.
00:30:58.240 --> 00:30:58.559
All right.
00:30:58.640 --> 00:31:00.000
So I think it's the system.
00:31:00.240 --> 00:31:14.799
So people do not pay attention inwardly, they're always looking outside because they need to make money whichever way to pay their rent, to pay their bills, and all those bills that have been attached to our life right now.
00:31:15.039 --> 00:31:28.160
And so it's hard for people to actually because if you don't have any burden of bills and nothing, and if I get what to eat and I'm okay, I'm not thinking about any other thing, I can really focus on myself and my inner self.
00:31:28.319 --> 00:31:28.559
Right?
00:31:28.640 --> 00:31:44.240
So sometimes I feel like God sometimes strips away, breaks you down so that you can pay attention to yourself, and that's where you lose your job, you go through depression, everything seems like not working, so that you can have time for yourself and then you can find that purpose.
00:31:44.480 --> 00:31:52.400
Purpose is very silent and it comes in the quiet, but we are busy chasing a whole lot of things outside, and that is why it is we are missing on our purpose.
00:31:52.480 --> 00:31:53.119
That's why I can't.
00:31:53.279 --> 00:31:58.480
Because we need to be more attached to the self, more in tune with the inner awareness, right?
00:31:58.640 --> 00:32:01.279
And the bills you wouldn't allow you to have that time for yourself.
00:32:01.519 --> 00:32:01.759
Yeah.
00:32:01.920 --> 00:32:20.400
The bills are a distraction, but how would you compare that kind of lifestyle that you just described of having to work, get a little bit of money, pay the bills, and it's just this never-ending, very depressing cycle versus the people that you lived with in the forest who don't have that same cycle going on.
00:32:20.559 --> 00:32:22.160
They have a different kind of a cycle.
00:32:22.400 --> 00:32:25.359
Can you tell me what you think is better and why?
00:32:25.599 --> 00:32:27.200
So I can put it in two ways.
00:32:27.440 --> 00:32:38.319
The first phase makes you more happier because you are not looking for, you're not looking for so many things that that in in retail will be a distraction.
00:32:38.400 --> 00:32:38.640
All right.
00:32:38.799 --> 00:32:41.839
The forest is more happier than in the city.
00:32:42.079 --> 00:32:47.440
The life in the forest, that cycle makes you happier with the little you have, all right?
00:32:47.599 --> 00:32:53.839
But the other one, even if you have more, you still keep looking for more, yet you never get fulfilled.
00:32:54.000 --> 00:32:56.720
But the life in the forest makes you fulfilled within, all right.
00:32:56.799 --> 00:32:57.839
And that really helps.
00:32:58.000 --> 00:32:59.279
It's all about the mindset.
00:32:59.440 --> 00:33:07.519
When you choose to chase the life in the city, you'll keep wanting more and you will never be fulfilled because you can never get everything that you seek.
00:33:07.680 --> 00:33:12.880
But with the little that you have in the forest, that makes you even fulfilled without not even asking for more.
00:33:13.039 --> 00:33:13.920
So that's the difference.
00:33:14.240 --> 00:33:18.079
But isn't it interesting how people want what's in the city?
00:33:18.160 --> 00:33:19.759
And I'm using city as a metaphor.
00:33:20.000 --> 00:33:36.000
People want that city life experience over the maybe if they could let go of all of those commercial and material attachments, that life in the forest might be where they connect more to what really matters to a human being.
00:33:36.319 --> 00:33:38.480
Isn't that interesting to think of it that way?
00:33:38.799 --> 00:33:39.200
It is.
00:33:39.440 --> 00:33:39.759
It is.
00:33:39.839 --> 00:33:48.880
And I feel like it's because of what had been promoted through the media to make people feel like the life in the city is best.
00:33:49.200 --> 00:33:52.799
Having the cars, having the houses is the best.
00:33:52.960 --> 00:33:57.200
Then going to live in the forest is the picture that has been created in the minds of people.
00:33:57.359 --> 00:34:00.640
And this is not a recent thing that's been done where yes.
00:34:00.720 --> 00:34:05.440
So within us when we're giving birth to, it was passed on to us, grow with it.
00:34:05.599 --> 00:34:11.840
So it becomes difficult to even let go because it is something that has been imprinted inside of you when you are birthed.
00:34:11.920 --> 00:34:13.920
So that is the challenge, and it's very interesting.
00:34:14.559 --> 00:34:15.280
It's fascinating.
00:34:15.360 --> 00:34:36.079
I grew up in a small town, and a lot of people left that small town, went out and had experiences in bigger cities in the United States, and then ended up going back to their roots, back to the small town, because it was more fulfilling in the end to have that more simple existence.
00:34:36.320 --> 00:34:40.960
And striving is a difficult way to live, right?
00:34:41.119 --> 00:34:47.679
When you're constantly striving and constantly feeling like you're not there, it's like being on that hamster wheel.
00:34:48.800 --> 00:34:54.000
So it's not surprising that we have people uh struggling and suffering with depression.
00:34:54.239 --> 00:35:00.880
You talk about something that I think is really a concept that we should bring up, and that is functional depression.
00:35:01.039 --> 00:35:03.519
I've seen you talking about functional depression.
00:35:03.679 --> 00:35:09.599
So that is when someone seems on the outside like everything is okay.
00:35:09.760 --> 00:35:14.079
And you ask them how they're doing, and they say, I'm fine, but really it's not.
00:35:14.239 --> 00:35:26.800
So talk about that a little bit and how you can know if a loved one is dealing with a functional depression and how we can help people when we see that this might be the case.
00:35:27.039 --> 00:35:34.239
One difficult thing about this functional depression is it is very hard to detect it unless the person wants up to talk about it.
00:35:34.400 --> 00:35:36.159
Because we all go through that.
00:35:36.400 --> 00:35:45.119
So the time I was invited to an event to come and speak, and there were so many big men coming, and it would be very good for me to network.
00:35:45.360 --> 00:35:52.000
And could you believe on that day I dressed so well and I didn't even have money for foo to go to the place?
00:35:52.400 --> 00:35:55.840
Somebody who could have given me money also disappointed me.
00:35:56.000 --> 00:35:59.199
So I had to go with the one bar of my foo.
00:35:59.679 --> 00:36:01.840
I went there, I spoke very beautifully.
00:36:02.000 --> 00:36:06.880
Everybody came hugging me, telling me that I did so well, they want to connect with me.
00:36:06.960 --> 00:36:09.840
And I was keeping a smiling face, hugging people.
00:36:10.000 --> 00:36:13.519
But meanwhile, I didn't know what I was going to eat right after the event.
00:36:13.679 --> 00:36:15.519
I didn't even know how I was gonna get back to me.
00:36:15.679 --> 00:36:19.280
The foo well, get me stuck in the middle of the road, what am I going to do?
00:36:19.440 --> 00:36:20.960
All those things were battling in my mind.
00:36:21.119 --> 00:36:27.920
Meanwhile, on the outside, I was hugging people, people saying I spoke so emotional, and I've changed their thoughts and all of those stuff.
00:36:28.000 --> 00:36:29.119
But I was suffering inside.
00:36:29.280 --> 00:36:34.320
If you pick 10 people in Ghana, nine of them is going through the thing, and you will never see it.
00:36:34.480 --> 00:36:40.639
They'll show up, they'll go to work, they'll go to church, they'll do everything normal, yet they are dying inside.
00:36:40.800 --> 00:36:46.400
And it's very hard because if these people are not able to talk about it, it's very hard to notice.
00:36:46.480 --> 00:36:49.039
And that's the challenge about this whole fashion repression.
00:36:49.119 --> 00:36:56.960
Unless perhaps they man up, they come into your DM or they trust you that you are not going to broadcast their pain and their struggles to other people.
00:36:57.199 --> 00:36:59.360
That is when they come to you too.
00:36:59.519 --> 00:37:06.639
And I'm trying to change this narrative through my healing room because now people have attended the healing room are now vocal.
00:37:06.800 --> 00:37:14.800
Something goes on, they call me because they have given you that safe space that their issues are safe with me and I'm not going to broadcast it.
00:37:15.039 --> 00:37:21.199
So they come to me and try to change that narrative through the healing room, through our annual conferences that we do.
00:37:21.440 --> 00:37:23.519
How's your relationship with your grandmother today?
00:37:23.760 --> 00:37:26.239
So my grandmother feels bad to date.
00:37:26.320 --> 00:37:29.440
I've told her so that it's she has even helped me.
00:37:29.519 --> 00:37:30.960
So she's forget about it.
00:37:31.119 --> 00:37:33.840
But I know that deep inside of her, she feels bad.
00:37:34.079 --> 00:37:37.840
But if it's been a while, I met her because I've moved out of that community.
00:37:38.480 --> 00:37:46.960
So to me, I have no thing in my heart because I should be rather be thankful to her for sucking me because that thing gave me the opportunities that I have today.
00:37:47.199 --> 00:37:50.159
But she feels bad that I still harbor some pain in me.
00:37:50.400 --> 00:37:53.199
It really was a blessing in disguise.
00:37:53.360 --> 00:38:02.960
And she probably knew that when you're a strong female matriarch of a family, sometimes you have to show tough love.
00:38:03.119 --> 00:38:04.800
And maybe that's what she was doing.
00:38:05.039 --> 00:38:05.119
Yeah.
00:38:06.400 --> 00:38:19.280
But I'm really glad that you were able to use those rock bottom moments to propel yourself and not only to propel yourself back up, but to help so many other people in the process.
00:38:19.519 --> 00:38:25.440
I think you should make the healing room like a little bit of a membership so that people from all over the world can join digitally.
00:38:25.679 --> 00:38:27.039
And you could you could do that.
00:38:27.119 --> 00:38:28.800
I could help you set that up if you're interested.
00:38:28.880 --> 00:38:38.239
Um, because that would be something really useful for people, and it would be a good way of kind of monetizing what you've got going on as well.
00:38:38.559 --> 00:38:40.079
I think I'd love to speak about this.
00:38:40.239 --> 00:38:45.280
Yes, what it's in the I think this needs to be a membership community.
00:38:45.519 --> 00:38:46.079
I love it.
00:38:46.239 --> 00:38:50.159
Uh that people pay a small amount of money to be a part of.
00:38:50.320 --> 00:38:58.800
I think that could be a very, very beautiful thing that could help so many people because your story, you have a way of lighting up the room.
00:38:58.960 --> 00:39:06.079
You have a way of really drawing people in so that they can see and feel inspired by you.
00:39:06.239 --> 00:39:07.599
They can see possibility.
00:39:07.760 --> 00:39:08.559
So tell me this.
00:39:08.639 --> 00:39:11.519
I have just a couple more questions for you.
00:39:11.840 --> 00:39:19.679
Wanted to know if you could sit across from your younger self during your hardest season, what would you tell him?
00:39:19.920 --> 00:39:22.880
I'd like to picture myself when I was young right now.
00:39:23.039 --> 00:39:29.920
Oh, so I'll tell him that I'll just say thank you for going through that, because that has made me who I am today.
00:39:30.079 --> 00:39:31.920
Otherwise, today I wouldn't be doing this.
00:39:32.079 --> 00:39:35.599
I'll be doing something else that wouldn't impact a lot of people.
00:39:35.760 --> 00:39:36.000
Right?
00:39:36.079 --> 00:39:40.559
I've got people coming to my DM saying, William, I attempted suicide eight times.
00:39:40.719 --> 00:39:44.320
I was about to try the ninth one and I saw your story on TikTok.
00:39:44.480 --> 00:39:45.360
I changed my mind.
00:39:45.519 --> 00:39:46.800
God bless you for what you do.
00:39:46.960 --> 00:39:51.599
And I had this message at a point where I wanted to quit because things were not moving well.
00:39:51.760 --> 00:39:53.119
I packed all my documents.
00:39:53.280 --> 00:39:55.840
As soon as I put it in a box, I get this message.
00:39:56.000 --> 00:39:57.920
I attempted suicide eight times.
00:39:58.079 --> 00:40:01.599
I was about to try the ninth one, and I chanced on your video.
00:40:01.760 --> 00:40:02.960
You gave me life, William.
00:40:03.119 --> 00:40:03.599
God bless you.
00:40:03.679 --> 00:40:05.039
I keep saying what you're doing.
00:40:05.199 --> 00:40:08.800
And I know it was a universe reminding me that, hey, you don't stop.
00:40:08.960 --> 00:40:09.920
Go pick it up again.
00:40:10.079 --> 00:40:14.320
So I just so I just went to pick up the documents and I'm still on this way.
00:40:14.480 --> 00:40:20.239
So I'll tell my younger self that thank you for all you've been through to making me who I am today.
00:40:20.480 --> 00:40:26.800
I love that message because we can't be who we are in any moment without the past versions of us.
00:40:26.960 --> 00:40:45.119
And so we should never beat ourselves up for mistakes or have regrets because it's that very journey, as imperfect as it is, that allows us to be the highest and best versions of ourselves in the present moment and even better in the future.
00:40:45.360 --> 00:40:59.440
When people finish listening to this episode today, what is one truth, one true thing that you hope that people will believe about themselves that can help them to build their own beautiful life?
00:40:59.679 --> 00:41:05.039
So one truth is you are so special, you have something beautiful inside of you, and it needs to come out.
00:41:05.199 --> 00:41:15.840
And one way it could come out is going through pain and struggles and uncomfortable situations because that will make you pay attention to what you've been ignoring to trigger it to come out.
00:41:16.079 --> 00:41:19.440
So when those moments happen to you, don't end your life.
00:41:19.679 --> 00:41:20.079
All right.
00:41:20.239 --> 00:41:27.440
Just keep calm and ask those questions, and in calmness, you get the answers for that beautiful thing to come out for the world to see.
00:41:27.599 --> 00:41:28.639
That's the only truth.
00:41:28.880 --> 00:41:31.760
In calmness, you will get the answers.
00:41:31.920 --> 00:41:38.400
And that's why those moments in nature, those moments when you're able to separate yourself from the noise are so important.
00:41:38.559 --> 00:41:39.199
All right, William.
00:41:39.599 --> 00:41:40.239
When is your conference?
00:41:40.320 --> 00:41:42.880
Tell us when the No Human is Useless conference is coming out.
00:41:43.119 --> 00:41:44.400
Yeah, so it's in September.
00:41:44.559 --> 00:41:45.119
September.
00:41:45.440 --> 00:41:46.800
And it's it can be virtual.
00:41:46.880 --> 00:41:48.320
It's gonna be held in Ghana, right?
00:41:48.639 --> 00:41:50.079
But it's virtual too, right?
00:41:50.320 --> 00:41:51.599
Yeah, so we need to do that this time.
00:41:51.920 --> 00:41:53.840
Yeah, it was gonna be it was gonna be virtual.
00:41:54.000 --> 00:41:56.960
So it's hybrid, both in person and then in virtual.
00:41:57.599 --> 00:42:01.920
And I know that people can donate to help support the conference.
00:42:02.800 --> 00:42:07.440
So I'm going to put the link in the show notes for people who would like to donate to your conference.
00:42:07.519 --> 00:42:16.079
And I want to say, especially to people in other countries outside of Ghana, is that your money goes a lot farther in Ghana.
00:42:16.320 --> 00:42:25.280
So you can make a donation, which to you might not be a big donation, but it will make a huge difference to William.
00:42:25.599 --> 00:42:26.000
I don't know.
00:42:26.079 --> 00:42:26.960
Can you give us an idea?
00:42:27.039 --> 00:42:34.559
Like if someone donated$100 to your conference, what would that mean to you and what you're able to give at the conference?
00:42:34.880 --> 00:42:36.719
$100 would be so good.
00:42:36.800 --> 00:42:39.840
So that's like 1,100 cities here.
00:42:40.000 --> 00:42:46.800
And$1,100 cities can do food, can help us pay parts of, let's say five,$500, right?
00:42:46.960 --> 00:42:49.280
$500 can pay for a whole auditorium.
00:42:49.440 --> 00:42:49.679
Wow.
00:42:50.079 --> 00:42:51.519
We want to use for the conference.
00:42:51.599 --> 00:42:51.840
Right.
00:42:51.920 --> 00:42:55.039
So$100, just imagine,$100 can do a lot.
00:42:55.199 --> 00:43:00.400
It can go into supporting people to come in and listen and attend for free.
00:43:00.719 --> 00:43:04.079
Scholarship tickets, it could pay for food for a lot of the people for the event.
00:43:04.880 --> 00:43:05.440
Well, yes.
00:43:05.760 --> 00:43:06.480
Water, drinking.
00:43:06.639 --> 00:43:06.880
Water.
00:43:06.960 --> 00:43:07.119
Okay.
00:43:07.440 --> 00:43:08.000
It can do that.
00:43:08.159 --> 00:43:08.639
I love it.
00:43:08.960 --> 00:43:09.199
Okay.
00:43:09.440 --> 00:43:09.760
I love it.
00:43:09.920 --> 00:43:19.039
So we'll put the link in the show notes and we're going to talk more about making something happen that I think will allow you to continue doing your work.
00:43:19.119 --> 00:43:27.440
Because I think a lot of us, when we do this kind of spiritual work as a helper, as a teacher, as a healer, we feel guilty asking people for money to do that.
00:43:27.599 --> 00:43:32.800
We feel like it's not a spiritual thing to do to charge people for this help.
00:43:33.199 --> 00:43:34.800
But you have to be able to live.
00:43:34.880 --> 00:43:36.719
You have to be able to keep doing the work.
00:43:36.880 --> 00:43:39.199
And so we need to get over that feeling.
00:43:39.280 --> 00:43:40.239
That's a money block.
00:43:40.320 --> 00:43:44.960
That's an obstacle, a mindset obstacle for a lot of people in spiritual work.
00:43:45.119 --> 00:43:59.199
And I would consider your work to be psychological and spiritual kind of work, that mindset work, personal development work that's even going a step beyond because you don't have as much access, like you said, to things like therapy.
00:43:59.360 --> 00:44:05.039
And it's just not as prominent there for people to go to therapy and have counseling and whatnot.
00:44:05.280 --> 00:44:19.599
So I think that what you're doing is super important, especially now that you're developing such an audience on TikTok where you've got so many people coming to and your DMs, we need to be offering them a place where they can get the help that they're asking you for.
00:44:19.760 --> 00:44:23.679
And you're not just giving it for free, even though that's amazing.
00:44:23.920 --> 00:44:33.119
But if they had a container where they could go and really experience your expertise and and get that energy, I think that would be such an amazing thing.
00:44:33.199 --> 00:44:33.840
So we're gonna work.
00:44:34.159 --> 00:44:34.639
We're gonna work.
00:44:35.760 --> 00:44:36.480
I would really love it.
00:44:36.800 --> 00:44:37.360
The healing room.
00:44:37.679 --> 00:44:38.079
I love it.
00:44:38.159 --> 00:44:38.400
I love it.
00:44:38.559 --> 00:44:38.719
All right.
00:44:38.960 --> 00:44:39.679
Thank you, William.
00:44:39.920 --> 00:44:42.480
I have loved talking with you today.
00:44:42.639 --> 00:44:43.679
Thank you for your time.
00:44:43.840 --> 00:44:45.280
What time is it where you are?
00:44:45.599 --> 00:44:47.039
So it's 6 35 p.m.
00:44:47.440 --> 00:44:48.559
Oh, that's not bad.
00:44:48.719 --> 00:44:50.480
It is 2 35 p.m.
00:44:50.639 --> 00:44:51.519
here in Pennsylvania.
00:44:51.679 --> 00:44:52.719
So it is four hours.
00:44:52.880 --> 00:44:52.960
Okay.
00:44:53.360 --> 00:44:54.079
Today is Friday.
00:44:54.800 --> 00:44:55.760
Oh, today's Friday.
00:44:55.840 --> 00:44:56.000
Okay.
00:44:56.159 --> 00:44:56.639
Okay, good.
00:44:56.800 --> 00:44:57.679
So we're only four hours.
00:44:57.840 --> 00:44:58.480
I never realized that.
00:44:59.679 --> 00:44:59.840
Okay.
00:45:00.320 --> 00:45:01.039
All right, William.
00:45:01.360 --> 00:45:02.400
Have a wonderful day.
00:45:02.480 --> 00:45:05.119
Um thanks again for being here, and this has been amazing.
00:45:05.360 --> 00:45:06.480
So it was a pleasure.
00:45:06.719 --> 00:45:07.199
Thank you.
00:45:07.360 --> 00:45:07.920
Thank you.
