ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Today’s Coach and Company is dedicated to Barry Melrose, the beloved former NHL coach and Emmy-winning ESPN analyst who died at age 70 following a battle with Parkinson’s disease. Coach remembers Melrose as a close friend, a passionate hockey lifer, and an unforgettable personality whose warmth extended far beyond television.
The football conversation begins with the Seattle Seahawks’ 13–10 win over the New England Patriots. Coach, Mikey P, and Peyton debate Drake Maye’s three interceptions, New England’s late-game decision-making, and Seattle’s outlook after Sam Darnold exited with a hip injury and Drew Lock took over.
Then the crew turns to the NFL’s first regular-season game in Australia: the San Francisco 49ers against the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The panel shares its best bets, Raphael Esparza supplies three actionable betting angles, and the four-man weave examines travel and sleep strategy, the Rams’ rebuilt defense, Brock Purdy’s passing volume, and the impact of George Kittle and Nick Bosa carrying no final game designation.
