About This Episode
It is the time of the English Civil War. Two debates, both alike in dignity, mark earth-shattering political events in 1647 and 1649.
Join us live from the debate between King Charles and Cromwell to see who should be the next leader of Britain. Moderated by the Leveller, Elizabeth Lilburne, who promises to stay unbiased.
Imagine tuning into the evening news to listen to a "presidential debate" only to hear Oliver Cromwell and King Charles I arguing with each other. This is Episode 7: Execution 1649! We continue our series with a fully-acted mini-play, imagining a historical broadcast covering the exciting news.
Following the dramatic reenactment, we go behind the broadcast taking a look at the research process and historical sources we used to create this unique "news report."
