00:00:10.720 --> 00:00:11.919
Genesis 20.
00:00:12.080 --> 00:00:19.920
From there, Abraham journeyed toward the territory of the Negeb and lived between Kadash and Shur, and he sojourned in Jarar.
00:00:20.000 --> 00:00:23.679
And Abraham said of his Sarah, his wife, She is my sister.
00:00:23.839 --> 00:00:26.399
And Abimelech king of Jarar sent and took Sarah.
00:00:26.480 --> 00:00:34.079
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, Behold, you are a dead man, because of the woman you have taken, for she is a man's wife.
00:00:34.240 --> 00:00:39.119
Now Abimelech had not approached her, so he said, Lord, will you kill an innocent people?
00:00:39.359 --> 00:00:41.520
Did he not himself say to me, She is my sister?
00:00:41.600 --> 00:00:46.079
And she herself said to he is my brother, in the integrity of my heart, and the innocence of my hands I have done this.
00:00:46.240 --> 00:00:52.320
Then God said to him in the dream, Yes, I know that you have done this in the integrity of your heart, and it was I who kept you from sinning against me.
00:00:52.479 --> 00:00:54.000
Therefore I did not let you touch her.
00:00:54.159 --> 00:00:58.719
Now then, return the man's wife, for he is a prophet, so that he will pray for you, and you shall live.
00:00:58.880 --> 00:01:02.799
But if you do not return her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.
00:01:03.359 --> 00:01:10.480
So Abimelech rose early in the morning and came and called all his servants and told them all these things, and the men were very much afraid.
00:01:10.640 --> 00:01:14.560
Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, What have you done to us?
00:01:14.799 --> 00:01:16.640
And how have I sinned against you?
00:01:16.719 --> 00:01:19.519
And that you have brought on me and my kingdom a great sin.
00:01:19.680 --> 00:01:22.000
You have done to me things that ought not to be done.
00:01:22.159 --> 00:01:26.239
And Abimelech said to Abraham, What did you see that you that you did this thing?
00:01:26.480 --> 00:01:30.159
Abraham said, I did it because I thought there's no fear of God at all in this place.
00:01:30.400 --> 00:01:32.000
And they will kill me because of my wife.
00:01:32.239 --> 00:01:36.879
Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, though not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife.
00:01:36.959 --> 00:01:44.879
And when God caused me to wander from my father's house, I said to her, This is the kindness which you must do to me, at every place to which we come, say of me, he is my brother.
00:01:45.120 --> 00:01:50.719
Then Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and male servants and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and returned Sarah his wife to him.
00:01:50.799 --> 00:01:55.200
And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before you, dwell where it pleases you.
00:01:55.280 --> 00:01:59.439
To Sarah, he said, Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver.
00:01:59.519 --> 00:02:02.560
It is a sign of your innocence in the eyes of all who are with you.
00:02:02.719 --> 00:02:04.799
And before every one you are vindicated.
00:02:04.959 --> 00:02:10.560
Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, and also healed his wife, and female slaves, so that they bore children.
00:02:10.719 --> 00:02:15.919
For the Lord had closed all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.
00:02:16.159 --> 00:02:18.159
This is the word of the Lord.
