ABOUT THIS EPISODE
- A lack of restrooms has left New Yorkers in a bind. They want to go out but then they are left holding it in. Restaurants, bars and coffee shops where New Yorkers could always find relief in the past have closed their restrooms to the public. Plus, with fears over the coronavirus still very present, many don’t feel safe going into germ-infested public restrooms. And hey, peeing in public isn’t even a crime anymore. In 2017, New York City introduced the Criminal Justice Reform Act, which decriminalized low-level offenses.

WACKY-BUT-TRUE: FLORIDA MAN LETS 12-YEAR-OLD DRIVE JEEP 85 MPH _ A Florida man is facing felony charges after police said he let a 12-year-old girl drive his SUV and told her to speed because he wanted to be a “cool father” — even though he is not her dad. 41-year-old Shaun Michaelsen told the arresting officer he is friends with the girl’s mother and that the girl and her friend were staying with him for a few days. He said the girl had asked earlier in the day if she could drive his Jeep, so he thought “it would be cool” and that he was trying to be a “cool father.” Michaelsen also told officers he had been drinking.
… The arrest report indicates an officer spotted the Jeep making an illegal U-turn and then speeding away at about 12:10 AM Monday. He followed and the Jeep reached speeds of 85 mph in a 45 mph zone before he was able to pull it over. The officer said that when he asked the 12-year-old why she was driving so fast, she said Michaelsen told her to.

WACKY-BUT-TRUE: LOCKED IN A VAULT _ In Argentina a man went to the bank late one Friday afternoon to get something out of his safe deposit box. He had only been inside the vault for a few minutes when the lights went out. He assumed there was some kind of electrical problem, but after a few minutes in the dark, he started getting nervous. He cried out for help, but no one answered. Then he heard the heavy doors of the vault closing with a loud thud. He was locked in, and since the bank didn’t have weekend business hours, he knew he was going to be in there for a long time. On Monday, the bank security guard was surprised to see the man when he opened the vault. The man, who seemed no worse for the experience, explained that he had stayed alive thanks to a bag of cookies he had with him.

QUESTIONABLE HANGOVER CURES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Readers Digest found the worst of the worst if you’re fighting off a hangover. Would you ever try…
• A glass of juice from either sour pickles or sauerkraut. A favorite in Poland to help quell headaches and alleviate discomfort.
• Umeboshi. The go-to hangover cure in Japan. Umboshi is salty pickled plums which supposedly improve liver function and help aid in digestion.
• Milk Thistle. The Brits love this. Several studies have proven that taking this pill erases any discomfort.
• Canada Dry Ginger Ale. Yes, the Canadians turn to ginger ale to settle an upset stomach. The most likely help for a hangover, ginger, is missing from the ingredients, though.
• The Bloody Mary. God Bless the USA! This is our hangover cure. The tomato juice contains high concentrations of lycopene and celery has restorative vitamins that help ease the pain. Oh, and then there’s the liquor. Party on.
