ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Step back into October 1987, when Halloween belonged to the monsters and childhood magic was found in backyard treehouses, video store aisles, and crisp autumn nights.
In this episode of Bite-Sized Nostalgia, we revisit Fred Dekker’s 1980s cult classic The Monster Squad. We’re opening the door to a time when Count Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Gill-man invaded suburban America—and the only people brave enough to stop them were a group of kids with a clubhouse and a passion for monster lore.
Grab your Halloween candy, turn down the lights, and hit play as we explore the practical effects of Stan Winston Studio, the VHS video store era, and why this movie’s tribute to friendship and belonging still resonates decades later. Because remember: We’re the Monster Squad.
